Yeah. And by the way, we're not too cool for a bad dad joke here and there, clearly. But, yeah, 26 years since SpongeBob's been on. I'm not a big SpongeBob guy, but I recognize the pure impact that that show has had. But it did get us thinking in our lifetime. Know what we saw the invention of now, Big Mike, who runs this place.

They debuted in 87 on the Tracy Ullman show and then in 89 as its own show. So longevity alone has to be in the discussion. I mean, but just based on longevity. Look, I love the Simpsons. No, no, diss. I don't think they're the number one answer.

If you are a kid of the 80s and 90s, if you're roughly 40ish, like we are. You remember as a kid when the Fox network debuted, I associated solely with the Simpsons and Married With Children. I feel like they made their name on those two shows. If I'm missing something, let me know. But I feel like as a kid I was like Fox with the new. Because it was a new network. And to me it was.

[Steve Cavino]

You are missing something, Tracey Ullman. Because that's where the Simpsons got their.

But by the way, was Tracy Ullman on Curb youb Enthusiasm?

So to me, the early days of Fox were the Simpsons and Al Bundy Married with Children.

Sunday nights. Right.

I want to ask you, Iowa Samuel, how many episodes do you think the Simpsons have done? It's, it's. It's one of those, like, guess how many jelly beans in the jar. You could be way off. I don't know. Just you take a guess.

What do you think so they've been on for 37 years. I want to say about 30 episodes per season.

[Rich Davis]

Maybe.

I'm gonna say a thousand episodes.

[Rich Davis]

You're close. They're not quite there. I'm one. They'd have to.

They'll stay till they get a thousand.

[Rich Davis]

They'd have to do. Because, you know, in the world of sitcoms, you could go into syndication back in the day. I know syndication doesn't matter as much anymore because now you just sell it to Hulu or Netflix. But a hundred episodes was a way of saying, all right, man, we could re. We could do reruns. Now hundred episodes is a big deal. The Simpsons have done 782 episodes.

Okay, I'm a little off.

[Big Mike]

Yeah.

[Rich Davis]

Do you realize how many episodes that is? That's.

[Caller]

They don't even have the same people necessarily even voicing the same characters anymore. People have retired. People have passed away. But the Simpsons was such a cash cow for Fox that they could poke fun at their own network all the time. And they would do it regularly just.

[Rich Davis]

Just to put a perspective. When you were a kid, a show that you watched on reruns all the time, like Gilligan's island, you know, Gilligan's island was just shy of 100 episodes. And you feel like, wow, that show must have been on forever. The Simpsons, 782 episodes.

[Steve Cavino]

That's insane. So, yeah, again, see this Yankee hat I'm wearing? I tip my hat to the Simpson. I'm going to give my number one. And if you're on hold and you have the same answer, that's fine. You know, back me up. It's all good. 87799 on Fox @COVINO and Rich. I know Rich's answer. I disagree. I think the game changer, the real game changer, the show that pushed the envelope that said, hey, this is for adults, debuted in 1992 on Liquid Television. It was on MTV, a show called Liquid television. And the segment was frog baseball. And look, sports related, Fox sports, Frog baseball. And it was two of my heroes on one show. And it was so good, they started their own show in 1993. Uh, these guys are the coolest. And they're talking about Covino and Rich, but I'm talking about Beavis and Butthead. Those are my dudes. I love it. That's the number one show. Cause they were pushing it, Rich. They were pushing it. Beavis and Butthead is my answer for my. Look, I'm in my 40ish-40s, right? That's my answer. And I'm sticking to it. Yeah, I love the Ren and Stimpies of the world.

In my college days, I remember sitting around with my friends when they had the original south park episode. Remember, it was Jesus versus Santa. And they took off running that show every season. They don't do it as much as they used to. It's a billion dollar industry for Trey and Matt. And we're talking whatever the relevant subject matter is today.

Yeah, they're great at being topical.

I think we just named the top three. If you're going to do the Mountain Rushmore, there has to be a number. Another one. So we got the Simpsons. Rich says South Park. I'm sticking with Beavis and Butthead. But it's the anniversary of again, the birthday of SpongeBob.

With Roadrunner, but again, those were kid cartoons, you know, they were violent in today's eyes, right. From today's perspective. But Tom and Jerry was a kids cartoon.

Mike Judge, though, he drew people he drew cartoon characters, like people he didn't try to, you know. And same with King of the Hill, one of my favorite shows. And Beavis and Butthead. They were just people as cartoons.

What was that movie from a couple years ago when Beavis of Butt Head did a movie. I feel like I came over your house and I had to, like, have a drink or get high or something to enjoy it a little bit.

Well, they did America and then the last one. I forget what the name. We watched it.

You love MTV. And when they analyze the Hulk Hogan, Real American video. I don't know if there was a funnier one than that.

Not only that. Like, that one.

So right, though. You know how many videos and how many bands they turned me on to? Because the whole premise of their show was, yeah, there'd be little cartoon segments, but the majority of the show was them watching music video.

They were like, video.

[Steve Cavino]

Forget about that. Yeah. Like, who are these guys? Right. So they're doing the video critique, but they also put a lot of bands on the map. Like, they're like, whoa, who's that guy? Yeah, this guy's cool. That guy was Rob Zombie. White Zombie. No one cared about White Zombie until they were talking about it and it blew up. Or the song Rusty Cage by Soundgarden.

Rob Zombie has credited.

Yeah, Rob Zombie credits Beavis and Butthead for putting them on the map. Like, they exposed you to a lot of music. Really great point.

Second of all, you guys glossed over briefly. I'm 52. When I was in college, Ren and Stimpy, I mean, it was. It wasn't quite over the top, like south park, but it was really Demented. And as far. I mean, it wasn't really for kids.

Even. Even. Even towards the end of their airing, they came out with an unedited version of, like, stuff that made the cutting room floor. It was. It was out there.

I mean, you know what's so cool about it, too? Like, when they would go to those. Those real realistic images.

Still shots where it was like, yeah, that show was disgusting. It was disgusting. But Stampy, you idiot, the illustrations were beautiful pieces of art.

It really is. It's one of those late night, I'm up late, I'm stoned or something. In college, it was on. You're like, wow, this cartoon's wild.

You know, I think about Adult Swim, too, when we talk about these sort of cartoons. Like, I love the Boondocks. It's a good one. Huey and Riley.

[Steve Cavino]

And that's still on Netflix now, isn't it?

[Big Mike]

Yeah, I know it. I think it gone to Max and a couple other platforms have it now. I know it started on Adult Swim, but yeah, their grant had to go out and live with their grandfather in the suburbs and just cutting edge. And that was like 2005 or something. But loved it. Whenever the Boondocks would come on late at night, I'm like, yeah, because it.

Was kind of anime style.

Yes.

But it was more sort of like an urban sort of setting. And, yeah, it looked like Speed Racer.

But in urban setting.

And then, of course, on Adult Swim, Metalocalypse is another one that's, I think, still going so more adult.

So in 1999, SpongeBob debuted 26 years ago today. Now, it was meant for kids, but there was definitely a lot of adult innuendo and reason to watch. And still you'll probably watch it today because it's funny. It's a funny, funny cartoon. And I remember we met the voice of SpongeBob, remember, like, just as many adults were excited to meet the guy than the kids. Remember that at series 6M, when we.

Were there, we also interviewed and had a great hang with the voice of Bart Simpson.

Family Guy falls in a weird category for me, and I feel like maybe everyone else in this room could feel what I'm saying. There are shows that you never appointment watch, but anytime you watch it or see a clip, you love it. Like, I've never sat down, like, oh, Sunday, whatever, time for Family Guy, but I've watched a million episodes. Every time, every time I see a clip on TikTok or Instagram, I'm like, this show is just hilarious.

You know what's wild to me, though, is, look, Seth MacFarlane's great, and I'm so excited to see what he does with Naked Gun and all that. So this is not a criticism because he's oddly talented. He could sing, he could dance, he could write. He's handsome, all that stuff. Okay? But people always give him credit for all the voices he does.

I've been watching the last couple of days. Diamondbacks have a good squad. They get overlooked because they're in that jam packed NL west where you know, you got the Dodgers, Padres, Giants. I would not be, I would not be shocked. In fact, I could promise you I think two of the three wild card teams are going to come out of the NL west and it wouldn't be tremendously crazy to me. Let's say Philly or Atlanta doesn't pick it up or the Mets struggle or something. I think you might see an unprecedented three teams get wild cards in the same division.

And speaking, you know why?

Because teams don't play their own division as much as they used to. The schedule is more balanced. So it wouldn't be crazy to see four teams in the same division with 88 to 100 something wins. That's not out of the question because of the balanced schedule. It's like a, you know, free for all now.
