All right, and with that, Albert Brear, Monday morning quarterback, is standing by. Great to have him in on a Monday. So let's I want to talk about a couple of things. First of all, Jaden Daniels, I think you liked him coming out of college. We did. I think they have to look at this in Washington. They have to be shocked to some degree. I mean, let's go back to pre draft and draft. Remember, remember Albert, during camp, usually you don't shower praise on a rookie quarterback during camp. And during camp Kingsbury and Dan Quinn were marveling over him. It's like they couldn't contain themselves how good he was. But I aren't they surprised at some level by this?
Albert Breer
Well, I'll give you a fun anecdote. Like a lot of times that, you know, as a media guy, you'll show up at camp and the rookies will be kind of locked away. Like they're afraid that the rookies are going to say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing and the rookies are scared to be thrown in front of it. Like I got like ushered over to Jaden Daniels just to say hello to him and just so, just so I could see what they were seeing about what kind of guy he was, you know, and it wasn't on the record or anything like a big deal, but it was like they couldn't wait to present Jaden Daniels to everyone, you know and say, see here, look what we have. Like it is something, he is a very, very, very special player, prospect, person, all of it. So they feel really strongly about it. They have felt that strongly about it, you know, since camp. And I Think, you know, one of the things that's really coming through now, Colin, and I think this is an important piece to it, is how he's handled the bumps, you know, and I think this relates back to being a five year starter in college, having 55 college starts. Yeah, he saw it from both ends of the spectrum. He was at Arizona state in the PAC 12, and he was there when probation hit, when the COVID season got canceled, you know, his whole career got kind of thrown into a blender, you know, and then he went into the pressure Cooker of the SEC in a program that's won three national titles, you know, since 2000, you know, with other great players around him. So, you know, I think, you know, like, one thing that they really liked about him was because of the amount of things that he's seen and the amount of experiences that he has he's had, that he'd be able to ride out any bumps that he faced in the NFL. And I think that certainly happened. They leveled off a little bit in the season. They've been able to come back strong. Yeah, I think his command, you know, even for. Even for a guy who was experienced, I think that has gotten him a little bit. And there's a little thing in Sunday's game that you probably wouldn't have been able to notice if you didn't talk to people there. And that was that second and three. I think you remember this one, right, Colin, where, you know, he takes the, you know, It's, I think 23 seconds left, whatever it is, 26 seconds left, he takes a snap, he runs behind his blocker, he doesn't quite get the first down. Well, that looked like it was a design quarterback run. It actually wasn't. They called an RPO in that situation. The receivers didn't get the signal. And so when Jaden took the snap, he had to react to the receivers not being ready for it. And he actually tucked the ball and ran for the two yards that were there, got down, they call the timeout, and of course then they run for the first down. He gets up, spikes the ball, and they throw the game winner. But I think it's another example of his poise. And I think that's the one thing you couldn't really project is in these, these high leverage situations at the NFL level, how is he going to be able to handle that? And, you know, yesterday was just another example of how he's passed those tests with flying colors.
Jason McIntyre
All right, we got. I've got a bunch of things I want to Talk about Sam Darnold. It's gone from a good story to a really good team. Detroit, speed up. Philadelphia's got some drama. Jalen hurts, concussion. You know, I like the Rams, but I think they're a draft away. I like the packers, but I think they're kind of young. You start looking at Minnesota, how in the world do you let Sam Darnold walk? I mean, is there. I talked to an executive yesterday that said they're too smart to let him go. I, you know, the executive is like, Tennessee needs a quote quarterback. Raiders, Giants. It's not a great quarterback class. Is it possible Minnesota now is. Talked themselves into. We're going to keep. We're going to franchise tag him.
Albert Breer
Yeah. I Talked to Kevin O'Connell when he was in the tarmac in Seattle yesterday after, you know, that great win and the throw at the end from, From Darnold to Jefferson down the left sideline. And, you know, one thing that was sort of interesting in that conversation was, was Kevin almost seemed like a little bit. And you've been around Kevin, I'm sure, like, he almost seemed a little. Little indignant about the idea that the other shoe is about to drop, you know, with, with Sam. And yeah, he's really took up for Sam and saying like, people expect like this whole thing is going to come undone and it's not. Sam's just a really good player who's now in a good situation. And so I think they have an idea of what they have. Here's the other thing, too. Colin is like, I think the question if you're the Vikings that you have to ask is, do you owe it to your team? Do you owe it to the veteran players on your team who are in this win now position to give them another year of Sam Darnold?
Jason McIntyre
Yeah.
Albert Breer
When you don't know what J.J. mcCarthy is going to look like in the spring, this summer, when J.J. mcCarthy, as much as they did like him, did lose all these months of development time. September, October, November, they still love him and he's doing all the right things, but, you know, the team that's in a position to win right now. Do you look at it if you're Minnesota and say, we can't. We just can't roll the dice right now? So there is a model out there for this, and you have to go back 20 years, but it's sort of like what happened with the Chargers, you know, in 2004 and 2005, in that in 2004 they had Drew Brees as a veteran quarterback in the roster. They drafted Philip Rivers. Brees played great in 2004. The Chargers won 12 games and the Chargers franchised him in 2005. And then, you know, obviously Breeze winds up getting hurt and, and Rivers becomes the starter in 2006. But this has happened before, so the franchise tag is awfully expensive for next year. Is expected to be over $40 million at quarterback. But it might be worth it to just kind of show your team if you're Kevin O'Connell, Quasi, Duff Mesa, all the other guy, all the guys in charge there to show your team like we're really invested in the here and now. We're going to show you by giving you the quarterback that you had last year. And oh, by the way, also our quarterback of the future if something goes wrong.
Jason McIntyre
Hey, I want to ask you about the jets because I, Aaron in the last month has played well. I heard during the broadcast they said Aaron would be willing to take a pay cut. You got two receivers. I like nice defensive personnel, elite corners, a good back. You probably, you know, I like the makeup of the team. I don't love the ownership space. Is it viewed by candidates as a good job, the Jets?
Albert Breer
That's a tricky question. I think most can't, I think most quarterbacks or I think most coaches are leery and GM candidates too, of where ownership has gotten the last few guys, you know, and the non football voices in that organization, how the non football voices have, have influenced Woody Johnson and the decision making and how some of the things that maybe Joe Douglas wanted to do or Robert Sala wanted to do, they weren't able to do. You know, I think one good example, you know, that I, that I can remember in the recent past was in 2022. They felt like the football people felt like they needed an offensive tackle, like that was going to be a real problem for them. And Woody Johnson didn't want him drafting an offensive lineman. Now it wound up working out because they got Sauce Gardner and, and, and Garrett Wilson.
Jason McIntyre
Yeah.
Albert Breer
And so, you know, it wound up like looking okay, but then the offensive tackle issue wound up being a tire fire for them, you know, until they, they really had to invest to fix it this off season. So I think, you know, like candidates are going to be leery of that. That said, there's a good base of talent there. And so, you know, you go through the Garrett Wilson's, the, the Sauce Gardeners. Olaf Asano got hurt, but he's played really well. Left tackle. He's going to be their left tackle in the future. You got. Jermaine Johnson will be coming back from Achilles. Quinn. And Williams is one of the best. One of the best young defensive linemen in football. Quincy Williams at linebacker. There's a. There's a good base of talent there that you can build around. And so, yeah, I mean, I think that there are things that make the job attractive. Here's the other thing that makes it attractive, just versus some of the other jobs that are out there right now. So if you go to Chicago, you're inheriting Kevin Warren and Ryan Poles. If you go to New Orleans, you're inheriting Mickey Loomis. If you're a coach who wants to make sure you're going in with a general manager you already know and are comfortable with and that you two are going to be tethered together, the jets right now are the one place where it looks like you'd be able to do that, because I do think that the guys in charge are going to prioritize having two guys coming in together that are willing to work together, that maybe have some history working together. So there are things that are attractive about the jets job. It's just you got to figure out where you're at on the role of ownership there. And, you know, Bill Parcells used to say this to all his young assistant coaches. It's the one thing when you go into a new organization that you cannot change.
Jason McIntyre
Yeah, you went to Ohio State, and you're very connected to the program. I want to shift and pivot and end with this.
Albert Breer
I feel a lot better than I did before, is that we're going to get to.
Jason McIntyre
No, no. I. First of all, I thought the game would be competitive. I thought, that's the best Ohio State has played in years in a big game. I thought they reminded me of the Georgia game where you're like, okay, they're hitting on all cylinders, like, they may not win. You know, I mean, Georgia was a great team, but it's like, wow, it was showing off. Good. And let's just say I think they're going to beat Oregon. Let's say they don't. And Ryan Day loses to Michigan and Oregon twice. How does Buckeye Nation, how does that land? Because this was impressive, but they were at home, and Will Howard was perfect.
Colin Cowherd
I just.
Jason McIntyre
I'm looking at Ohio State, and I think, did Ryan Day save his job? And I think, of course. And then I think to myself, they lose to Oregon, little old Oregon in the Pacific Northwest. You tell me, Buckeye Nation, they lose to Oregon. How does it land?
Albert Breer
Well, So I was there when John Cooper was fired, and I remember what that was like. I was. It was my junior year and like, there was some academic scandal that, you know, they wound up pinning it on, but it was really because, you know, they weren't winning at the same club that they had been winning at before. And there was the Michigan problem. The one thing that, like, I think can't be ignored. There is. It also happened when the win loss record changed. So it wasn't just losing to Michigan. Losing to Michigan was a huge problem. It wasn't just not winning a national title, although that was a huge issue as well. It was that if we fire him, we're not really sacrificing anything. We're just walking away. I look at where Ryan Day has the program and I think in a lot of different ways he's done a really good job.
Jason McIntyre
Same.
Albert Breer
And you know, like, you look at, like the roster right now and it's like, what they're going to be bringing back next year now they're going to lose a lot, but Jeremiah Smith, Caleb Downs, Julian saying, like, they have the core of what could be a monster again for the next couple of years. So, like, part of this is like, not just, you know, how do you look against Oregon? It's also like, if you are. If. If you're walking from Ryan Day, are you bringing in somebody going to retain all that talent? Are you walking away from that talent? Does all that talent jump in the transfer portal the way a bunch of guys jumped in the transfer portal at Alabama when Nick Saban walked away? I think one thing that, you know, and I think Ryan, on balance, has done a really good job there. I think one thing that protects Ryan is the strength of the rost, because I think if you're Ross Bjork, the AD or. Or any of the other powers that be there in Columbus, I'm sure you're going to look at it, you're going to say, this is still a team is set up to win very big over the next few years. The talent is still better than all, but maybe three or four schools of the country and it might be number one.
Jason McIntyre
Yeah.
Albert Breer
Are we really in a position where we're that upset with what happened, where we're going to walk away from Jeremiah Smith, we're going to walk away from Caleb Downs potentially? I'm not saying they would jump in the portal, but you'd be risking that. I think. I think it would have to be pretty ugly against Oregon to get yourself to that point.
Jason McIntyre
Okay, just a thought, because I do think they'll beat him close. All right. Great stuff. Albert Brear, as always. Appreciate it, man.
Albert Breer
All right. Thanks, Colin.
Jason McIntyre
Yeah, it's. It's interesting what he said about the jets is that the belief is you don't have this president who's, you know, the owner's impulsive. But the truth is it's you and a GM coming in together. That's very, very valuable. You're bringing in your lead guy. I again. I'll say it again. I thought Joe Douglas was a better than average gm. He missed on a Covid quarterback. There's only one person in the world that got Zach Wilson, Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones. All right, you know, that was J. Mac.
Dan Quinn
Is he sitting across from me right now or.
Jason McIntyre
I just want to be obnoxious. I just wanted to be obnoxious.
Dan Quinn
Mission accomplished.
Jason McIntyre

Pessimists about college football this weekend. Remember teams were playing at home. 70% of NFL games are one score games. That's not college football. It's a have and have not sport. Now this week you move to neutral field games. J. Mac and I both say keep your eye on Boise State, Notre Dame, Georgia, that's a go. Either way game. I'm interested. I watched a little bit of Georgia without their starting quarterback and they were capable. They have such good players. They were capable but they don't have Brock Bowers, they don't have lad, McConkey, Carson, Beck's gone.
Colin Cowherd
Now you're, now you're dealing with guys.
Jason McIntyre
That should be backups that are not quite ready. And a lot of people have poached Georgia's talent in the nil. So this is about as vulnerable as Georgia has been in about a six year stretch. I feel like they're super vulnerable. And as Notre team Notre Dame, the team to beat him. Marcus Freeman, the Irish head coach is on our show tomorrow. J. Mac with the news.
Dan Quinn
No, no, no, no.
Colin Cowherd
Turn on the news. This is the Herd line news.
Dan Quinn
All right, let's quickly revisit Jaden Daniels and his five touchdown effort against one of the best defenses in the league. Including the go ahead score in the closing seconds.
Jason McIntyre
That was a thriller.
Albert Breer
Yeah.
Dan Quinn
Eagles 10 game win streak down the tubes. Here's Dan Quinn on Jaden's performance. If you give him moments, he really.
Jason McIntyre
Lights up in those spots today.
Albert Breer
He became a heavy hitter.
Dan Quinn
To know that, you know at the.
Jason McIntyre
End you're ready to go make a.
Dan Quinn
Play to go, you know, give your.
Albert Breer
Shot, chance a shot to win it. That's a big deal. So I thought there's a lot to.
Jason McIntyre
Be gained from today.
Dan Quinn
It was ugly in some ways, but.
Albert Breer
It was also excellent in some ways.
Jason McIntyre
Yeah, I mean he had some turnovers early, was great late. I can live with that.
Dan Quinn
Five turnovers.
Jason McIntyre
I know.
Dan Quinn
How do you win a game?
Colin Cowherd
It was good.
Jason McIntyre
That game was a lot. I don't want to take too much from it, but I do think you can take Jaden Daniels second half from it and go, wow, this kid's a gamer 100%.
Dan Quinn
Now where it gets interesting is this offseason for Washington is pivotal. Right. We saw the Texans kind of mess around. Whatever they did with Stroud around him hasn't really worked.
Jason McIntyre
I would like to see one more.
Dan Quinn
Weapon, but Colin, the cornerback situation's bad. They Thought they got something in Lattimore. He was roasted.
Jason McIntyre
Well, you know what's funny is Lattimore has given Mike Evans fits for years and Mike's a first felt hall of famer. A.J. brown had his way with him. I mean, that shows you how good A.J. brown, because Lattimore can play. I don't think A.J. brown's coverable. I just think he's one like Justin Jefferson, A.J. brown, Jamar Chase. There's a handful of guys in this league. By the way, Aaron and Devonte Adams have a little something cooking.
Dan Quinn
Stop. I don't want it back.
Jason McIntyre
Who can Stafford.
Dan Quinn
I think Washington. Listen, I, I. Dallas.
Jason McIntyre
Can they win a playoff game?
Dan Quinn
Yeah. Why not?
Jason McIntyre
Because I think, I mean you're talking.
Dan Quinn
About, I mean against Philadelphia. It's going to be very difficult.
Jason McIntyre
Well, I mean the Rams in Green Bay, those are good teams. Like I think I'd be very, I mean, I like Washington, but I think what we just watched may have been the highlight of the year.
Dan Quinn
Oh, I don't know. You remember Jaden Daniels against the Bengals on Monday Night Football in like his fourth NFL game?
Jason McIntyre
Well, the Bengals.
Dan Quinn
Amazing. So let me ask you, who would you rather have for the next five years, Jordan Love or Jaden Daniels?
Jason McIntyre
Oh, that's Coin flip. I love them both. That's not a fair question.
Dan Quinn
It's a sports bar question. You're hanging out with your buddies.
Jason McIntyre
I'm not drinking. If I was drinking, I'd have an answer. I bet.
Dan Quinn
I mean, I like that's, I think the contract is.
Colin Cowherd
I think they're both just got paid.
Jason McIntyre
Yeah. So Jaden Daniels is free for four years. Probably I'd go Jaden, but I mean those guys are both. I mean if, if we project out and I don't know what college is going to furnish pro football, but if you told me three years from now the top seven quarterbacks in the league, I think Jaden Daniels and Jordan Love are both in the top six to seven now. I think Mahomes is still in it. Josh is in it, Lamar is in it, Herbert's in it. I don't think Stafford in three years is in.
Dan Quinn
The only reason I would take Jaden Daniels is because he's younger. A and B, Jordan Love remembers SAT for a few years, then he came on. Oh, this guy's got some Jaden Daniels. Get in there.
Jason McIntyre
Yeah, new coach. Also had a much more robust college career. He was with an NFL coach in Herm Edwards. Then he goes to Brian Kelly. So I mean he had a collegiate career That I thought had certain layers that. Jordan, Utah State for a couple years.
Dan Quinn
Jaden Daniels or Bo Nix?
Jason McIntyre
Jaden Daniels. Next five years.
Dan Quinn
Jaden Pannix or Daniels?
Jason McIntyre
Like them both. But I do get movement with Jaden Daniels, so I take him. Panics is a pocket.
Dan Quinn
Last one.
Jason McIntyre
Just one more.
Dan Quinn
Justin Herbert of Jaden Daniels again.
Jason McIntyre
That's unfair.
Dan Quinn
It's close.
Jason McIntyre
It's close.
Colin Cowherd
I mean, you're giving me things.
Jason McIntyre
They're both A's.
Dan Quinn
These are.
Jason McIntyre
These are legitimate sports questions.
Dan Quinn
Who would you rather have?
Jason McIntyre
Don't you have an NBA story to go to? Let's get to the brass.
Dan Quinn
Worse than the NBA. The Browns. Oh, my gosh, What a disappointing season. Well, this is where it started to get interesting. So they don't have a quarterback at all. Everybody's hurt. And now Miles Garrett, who's been a loyal soldier in Cleveland for eight years, talked about the possibility of a change in franchise if things don't change for Cleveland. First of all, I want to win and want the Browns to be able to put me and us in position to win.
Colin Cowherd
And I'm not trying to rebuild. I'm trying to win right now. I want that to be apparent when the season's over and we have those discussions. I want them to be able to illuminate that for me, illustrate that for.
Dan Quinn
Me, so that can be something I.
Colin Cowherd
Can see in the near future. That's all we want to do.
Dan Quinn
He's got to be the leader of that team.
Colin Cowherd
I don't.
Dan Quinn
That does not sound good.
Jason McIntyre
It's just. I don't trust. It's too bad. I love the coach, love the gm, love Miles Garrett. They have elements I love, but I don't. I don't think it's a winning culture. You're in a division with. The Steelers are such a smart franchise. Baltimore and you know, it's a have and have nots division. I love Pittsburgh and Baltimore, top down. I think they're great. Baltimore and Cleveland or Cleveland and Cincinnati just have talented players. That's the difference. I mean, Pittsburgh and Baltimore, those are real businesses. Those are real businesses. Top executive suite ownership down. Cleveland and Cincinnati just have hall of Fame players. Myles Garrett's a Hall of Famer. Joe Burrow is a Hall of Famer. Jamar Chase a Hall of Famer. There's a big difference.
Dan Quinn
So there's some things we don't understand at all. All. The Bermuda Triangle, for instance. What the hell's wrong with Deshaun Watson as a football player? He does not look like the guy who was A Clemson? No, does not look like the guy. And there was no. I mean there's been some injuries, but.
Colin Cowherd
No.
Dan Quinn
Like if I would have told you.
Jason McIntyre
If I would have told you three years ago an NFL team will sign the worst quarterback contract ever and you had to pick three teams to guess who it would be, wouldn't Cleveland be one of them?
Dan Quinn
Jets, Browns in that, in that ballpark? Yeah, but nobody thought that at the time.
Jason McIntyre
Well, no, we didn't like it. First of all, there only been one guaranteed contract. That was Minnesota Cousins. Nobody thought it was a good contract. A, it was guaranteed. Brady didn't get guaranteed.
Dan Quinn
But it was Deshaun Watson who'd been in the playoffs a lot and Brady.
Jason McIntyre
Didn'T get a guaranteed contract. Okay, that's.
Colin Cowherd
You don't do that.
Jason McIntyre
It's not baseball. And the other thing is he had all this civil stuff and it was still lurking around and it's like, I'm sorry, but like it just wasn't smart. It'd be one thing if he was a student body president. Like he was the nicest guy. We had all sorts of civil allegations and it was like, ugh.
Dan Quinn
I know. I don't know what to do. Like, do you. Is no, Browns fans aren't going to want to hear this. Do you consider the only trading Miles Garrett? Colin, can you get a hole for him and start over? Can you get a quarterback?
Jason McIntyre
I would buy, I would trade Myles Garrett if this was a quarterback class like last year where I thought there were four to five guys because the way to get out of trouble in the NFL. So the Russell Wilson contract for Denver, a lot of dead cat money. The way to get out of it is hit in a first round quarterback. We don't pay anything. So by the two or three years then, then you're home free. The only way for Cleveland to get out from this mess is to hit on a quarterback. This is not the time to hit on a quarterback. This, this quarterback class is not good enough. Now I do think, I do believe and I'm serious on this. I could see I could. If I'm the New York Giants and you gave me Miles Garrett and I gave you the number one pick.
Dan Quinn
No, the Giants need a quarterback.
Jason McIntyre
Yeah. But my take is I would go Kirk Cousins for a year and I would take Miles Garrett and a bunch of picks. Like I'm telling you. I don't, I don't think these quarterbacks in this class are. I don't think any of them are as good as this.
Dan Quinn
You don't Think Kim Word could be as good as McCarthy or Pennock.
Jason McIntyre
I don't. I don't. I think they're be.
Dan Quinn
I think the draft process is gonna be fun on this show because I'm bullish on Cam Ward. I think he got.
Jason McIntyre
He's got the best arm by far.
Dan Quinn
I think there's. There's a chance he's really, really good.
Jason McIntyre
All right.
Dan Quinn
And Jaylen Milro could be. Could be. Maybe Jaden Daniels.
Jason McIntyre
No.
Dan Quinn
Could be. With the right offensive coach.
Jason McIntyre
I think he's a much better Anthony Richardson. Much better.
Colin Cowherd
Like.
Jason McIntyre
Like that's fair. But I think. Yeah, I think Jalen Milroe's body type. I mean, that dude is.
Dan Quinn
He's a quarterback.
Jason McIntyre
Oh, he's a great kid. Great parent. He has a. I mean, his intangibles in Alabama. He's inconsistent, but they love him. He passes a lot of the intangibles.
Dan Quinn
Remember, Will Levis was like a 4.0 guy.
Jason McIntyre
Very smart, but no, people weren't fans of him. Had a lot of doubters with him.
Dan Quinn
Gun show, Will, final story is college football. Listen, the first round matchups were blowouts, all decided by 10 points or more. Home teams cruised every teaser under the sun. The most lopsided margin came in smu, Penn State and Tennessee. Ohio State. I'm very geeked for this. Boise State, Penn State on New Year's Eve.
Jason McIntyre
Are you calling for an upset? I think you are.
Dan Quinn
I'm getting closer. I already took the points, but I'm getting closer to a money line on Boise on the first. Which would be what? Next Wednesday, I believe. Texas, Arizona State, Ohio State, Oregon at the Rose Bowl. That's who has the edge here, crowd wise. Because Ohio State will travel.
Jason McIntyre
Both Oregon. Oregon and Ohio State are two of the top five travel teams in the country. They're both great. They both have 35,000 or whatever.
Dan Quinn
Notre Dame, Georgia. I believe that at Sugar Bowls in Louisiana, which is very close to athletes.
Jason McIntyre
You know, I gotta be honest with you.
Dan Quinn
That's not a bad drive.
Jason McIntyre
I think. I think. I like Notre Dame.
Dan Quinn
I'm leaning there with you.
Jason McIntyre
I like Notre Dame.
Dan Quinn
Is there a case for Arizona State or. No.
Jason McIntyre
A case to get beat by 20 or no.
Dan Quinn
Win the damn football.
Jason McIntyre
I know. I don't think. I don't think there's a case.
Dan Quinn
I'm just telling you. Dillingham. I know the Indiana coach, little old school. Dillingham's gonna have had four weeks to cook up something, and I'm almost certain they did not. Game plan for Clemson you could have spent the last three weeks just looking at Texas and where we could take advantage. I.
Jason McIntyre
Okay. They may take a lead.
Dan Quinn
Huh?
Jason McIntyre
They may take a lead. I do worry about Texas. Didn't Texas lose a couple.
Dan Quinn
Oh, they did have a couple guys.
Jason McIntyre
A couple linemen go down.
Dan Quinn
We still don't know about Bond, the superstar receiver. Now, the running backs, that.
Jason McIntyre
They were great. They were. Yeah, they were really good clubs that.
Dan Quinn
Couldn'T tackle me in the open.
Jason McIntyre
I think I'm going to take Notre Dame over Georgia. That's what it feels like. Okay.
Dan Quinn
And then Oregon, Ohio State. Do you have a. Is it too early?
Jason McIntyre
Well, I'm just going to stick with my preseason prediction. Ducks win at Otson, Buckeyes winning the rematch.
Dan Quinn
For the record, I have not heard one person outside of a staffer here who's an Oregon grad pick the Ducks in this game haven't heard one person.
Jason McIntyre
Say, well, I mean, they beat him earlier. I'll tell you this. No, everybody, when is that game? What day is that game?
Dan Quinn
January 1st.
Jason McIntyre
That will get the largest college football rating ever. Ever for a game not for the national championship. I think that's going to set the record for the greatest college football rating ever. I mean, modern history. That's not a natty because Texas, USC got like a 20 or a 22. Vince Young Liner Bush.
Colin Cowherd
That.
Jason McIntyre
That game was. I was there. That game was off the charts. That was like star studded before we Knew who Matt McConaughey was. I think he.
Dan Quinn
No, stop it.
Jason McIntyre
I remember Roger Clemens was at that game. He was like the big star.
Dan Quinn
Oh, that's right. Clemens.
Jason McIntyre
Yeah, but I. I think Oregon, Ohio State and I'm talking.
Dan Quinn
I think it'll get a sideline for that.
Jason McIntyre
It'll get a. I'm watch on TV. It'll get a 20. I'm not joking. It'll get an NFL playoff rating.
Dan Quinn
How are the Oregon corners if Jeremiah Smith doesn't have 12 to 15 targets?
Jason McIntyre
Oregon's defense, you can push around a little bit, but that offense goes score points.
Dan Quinn
I just, I. You watch Smith and I. He's way. He's better than Marvin Harrison Jr. I mean, Marvin Harrison Jr. Was awesome. Jeremiah Smith's better player.
Jason McIntyre
He's unguarded. Yeah, he's. He's more athletic.
Dan Quinn
It's gonna be a great game.
Jason McIntyre
J. Mac with the news. Well, that's the news and thanks for.
Colin Cowherd
Stopping by the herd lie news.
Jason McIntyre
Boy, that's gonna be a good game. Ohio State, Oregon Rose Bowl. That is gonna be. You can see it on TV right now. The sunset's going down. I'll have the planes flying over. Wrap it up Next Live in la, the Herd. Be sure to catch live editions of.

Always love when we get a guest on and the stronger the guest they're usually willing to have opinions that go against the grain and I like Caleb Williams. A lot of people like Caleb Williams. But of all the rookie quarterbacks, the one Matt Hasselbeck has pushed back on from day one is the Bears Caleb Williams, who hasn't thrown a pick in forever. Here was Matt on Caleb earlier today.
Albert Breer
This is a very strong rookie class of quarterbacks and I just think that like Caleb is the one guy to me that I don't see the things that I believe are really important that I believe matter for sustained success for a long career. I haven't seen that so much body.
Dan Quinn
Langu a huge thing to me.
Albert Breer
I don't, I don't love what I see out of him. You know. So are there wow plays? Are there splash plays?
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Albert Breer
That's awesome. That's why you were drafted so high. But if you're going to compare him and if I was just going to like nameless faces, I don't see the emblem on the helmet, I don't see the name on the jersey. I don't know who was picked first, second, third, whatever. I'm putting all those other rookie quarterbacks, Jaden Daniels, Drake May, Bo Nix in a week. I might put panics up there above.
Jason McIntyre
Caleb, you know, and J. Mac. One of the criticisms that I thought was fair because I watched it at USC for two years, that he was emotional and a little moody and there was a GM that said he didn't like the fingernail stuff when he was putting profanities on there. I talked to another GM in the league that didn't love to jump into the crowd with mom stuff. It didn't bother me. But I'm just telling you their perspective. And I, I do think temperament is underrated. Like Jay Cutler. I've never, I didn't like his temperament. Aaron Rodgers body language yesterday, hands in the air, frustrated with teammates. I've never loved Aaron's sort of temperament and body language. I don't doubt there, there is something to be said not only about iq, but EQ and quarterback is your CEO on the field, he's your coach and you've got to be able to just. And I'm not saying you can't bark at a teammate on the sidelines. I've always been okay with that. Tom Brady barked at Josh McDaniels. Peyton Manning barked at Jeff Saturday. I'll always defend a guy in the heat of the action, but a lot of this passive aggressive stuff and eye rolling stuff with Aaron drove me crazy for years. Brett Favre could be upset. Brett is not an eye roll guy. And I think there are times with Caleb that he's kind of, you know. Kyler Murray, by the way, doesn't have great body language. I've overlooked a lot of it because I love the talent. Lamar Jackson, when he's frustrated, gets mad at himself. You never see Lamar mad at teammates. Lamar is mad at himself. I like that there is something to be said. The camera is always on you as a quarterback. So, you know, with Caleb there's some mood stuff and I think he's done a really good job this year at the podium. As the sky is falling in Chicago, I will defend him forever. He's been great at the podium and that counts too. But I'm just saying there was some stuff out of college when I asked my five or six guys, you know, they would all say kind of, you know, some of the stuff off the field I don't love. And the fingernails, not the everything is something and nothing is everything. But it was something. With Jaden Daniels, the only thing we worried about was frame. He's a little, you know, a little spindly, but he's been fine. Bo Nicks were like, doesn't have a big arm. Drake May were like, he's raw but really talented. Everybody had something panics. You're like, he's had surgeries. Like, everybody had something. But Caleb was more the. He can be a little bit moody. And that, that temperament equation is a big thing, especially when you're going to the Bears and you know, it. It's, you know, every day is something there. J Mac, nice job on a Monday, boy. Matt Hasselbeck, he was our off season signee. We went into the free agent market to sign Matt Hasselbeck. He was a better signing than Kirk Cousins in Atlanta.
Dan Quinn
How's this?
Jason McIntyre
He's lasted the whole year, still got his fastball.
Dan Quinn
How's the sports media transfer portal? Is the nil money flowing on this show? I mean, we're just.
