Well, this is. You never know quite what you're getting as a reporter the day of the draft, but there's a lot of stuff swirling. Diana Rossini weighing all of it. The athletic senior NFL insider covered the league for a decade. Give me something today that. That's just buzzing. Is there a. Is there a. You know, I heard Will Johnson is plummeting in the draft. I thought he was such a good player at Michigan is. What are the hot rumors you hear and you're just not sure what to make of them.
Diana Rossini
Yeah, that's a good way to put it because you hear things and then you have to go check in on how much you know truth there is behind it. So there's some stuff running about Gen D right now. The running back perhaps getting a little bit more love at the top of the draft than we expected. I'd. I predicted, just based on some conversations that the Bears were targeting him, that they really liked him. And there's a little chatter out there right now that the Bears may be willing to move up to even go get him, but I'm not ready to go that far. The other one that I've consistently heard for the last few days, and I've even heard it from people there, is that Jacksonville is going to be electric. So I don't know how to define electric for you right now, but they want to do something with that fifth pick, whether that means move up, perhaps maybe have a conversation with the Cleveland Browns for that number two spot yet. I really think your Barry wants to move off that. I really don't. Unless Jacksonville's willing to give up a lot. But they apparently have something up their sleeve that's going to cause some fireworks tonight. So I'm hoping they follow through. And this just isn't one big tease. I'd say that. And then, of course, the quarterbacks. An hour ago I saw someone talk about Shador Sanders is back in at three for the Giants after, you know, almost 24, 48 hours. Now we've been reporting that the Giants collectively had made a decision to move on and go best player available. And I'm still pretty comfortable going with that, that they're going best player at three. They're still in the market for a quarterback, of course, but. But I, I see them just trying to trade back in to get one, if anything, which I know they're. They're currently making calls at this moment.
Colin Cowherd
Okay. The Rams last year tried to move up to get Brock Bowers. They went and got Matt Stafford, devonte Adams, there's rumors they're frustrated with Kyron Williams fumbling. They're not really wildly productive at tight end. There's two big time tight ends, three potential first round running backs. What about the Rams? In my mock draft, I had a moving up to get Loveland, but I also think the Broncos love him and the Chargers love him. The Michigan tight end. What do you make of the Rams last year? There's a lot of talk they were moving up. In fact, I got it validated they were very interested in Brock Bowers.
Diana Rossini
Guess who told you? Me on your show last year.
Jason McIntyre
That's right, we did.
Diana Rossini
We were on the show actually when I got the text and we were talking about it and, and you know, eventually later, I think the Rams wound up coming out with it a little bit or I think they shared it in one of their behind the scene videos. Either way, you look even back, forget even last year when we talked about the Brock power, Brock Bowers, a potential trade up for it. The year before that, remember they were trying to get Dalton Concade who wound up in Buffalo. So we're Talk they're over 2 right now in trying to trade up to get the tight end that they want. And I think we've all covered and seen less need for a while. We know his personality kind of just goes after it. So to me, just knowing that they met with five different of these tight ends coming up, that they like it, there's a need, it just makes a lot of sense. Now, let me, let me preface this with almost every team I'm talking to right now, with the exception of maybe one or two are trying to trade out, right? So I think if, let's just say the New York Giants call the Rams to try to get up. I think, I think Les is going to take that deal and try to get out just because they know they can get a tight end late in the later rounds. But that being said, I think if they're stuck there and perhaps this thing shakes out a little while tonight, I could certainly see the Rams trying to get aggressive to move up to get one of these tight ends.
Colin Cowherd
You talk to some people inside the league, what are they saying about the draft overall?
Diana Rossini
That it's weak compared to last year. I had one coach say this is one of the lightest drafts he's seen in his years and he's been a coach in the NFL for over 10 years at least. I had another coach say there aren't a lot of Robert Dairos here. Which one ages this coach, but also Tells you that his point essentially is there's not a lot of big headliners. There's not a lot of stars and not. Not a lot of guys that stand out outside those three right, of Cam Ward, Abdu Carter, and Travis Hunter, those are really the three. And then after that, you know, the Shador Sanders sort of rock star name makes this exciting. But in terms of the actual talent, there's not a lot of pass catchers. There's not a lot of great quarterbacks. They're just really strong players in the trenches. And. And that's where I think a lot of these teams are trying to be organized in this draft, in building not just getting one offensive lineman, but getting two or three. Also knowing the prices of these positions have gone up so much in free agency that getting some of these young guys build, bring them in, make them one of their own and continue to build on that. This is the type of draft where they think they can do well there.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah. So if Shedeur drops to the Steelers, which we're hearing, does that affect Aaron Rodgers at all? Who, you know is ambiguous. You're not trying to guess what Aaron wants is impossible unless you're a guest in a very tight inner circle. But if Shedeur went there to Pittsburgh, what does it mean for Aaron?
Diana Rossini
I don't believe the Pittsburgh Steelers are doing anything tonight with any regard to Aaron Rodgers. I think they're 100% operating as if Aaron's not going to be here because they have to. Right. So, look, they still feel good. They're going to get him, but until he's a Pittsburgh Steeler, he's not a Pittsburgh Steeler. And we saw him talk on the Pat McAfee show about some of the personal stuff he's dealing with, and we'll take his word for that. And I know the Steelers are aware of it, and they're going to allow him to handle those personal situations until he's ready. But while he's doing that, time is going by and training camp is going to be here before you know it. You know, we obviously have the OTAs now, and I. I do wonder. I don't know this, and. And I know I have a shared thought around the league. A lot of people have said this as well, that maybe Aaron's just waiting for a better opportunity, a better team, a team that he thinks he can step in and win. But for the Steelers, they're. They're building this thing. They've. They've got two superstar receivers on their team right now. One, they just traded and spent a lot of money on. They need to get a quarterback that's not just Mason Rudolph. And they know that. And in that regard, by the way, I know there's a little scuttlebutt about George Pickens, right? That. That they're looking to shop him and trade him. From my conversations, nobody's called them. No one's called for George Pickens yet. So maybe that'll change by the time we get to the draft tonight, because that's usually when it starts to heat up when we're on the clock. But for right now, George Pickens is a Pittsburgh Steeler. And I don't get the sense from Pittsburgh, they're quick to get a move on this. They traded for DK Metcalf, knowing George Pickens is here and purposely trying to amp up this offense. They're not going to try to move another wide receiver. So they have another need here, especially in a draft that they don't think that they can get one.
Colin Cowherd
Okay, Dallas Cowboys. I. I said earlier I think they're in a rebuild. I think if you have a bad old line, which was bad before Zach Martin left, retired, I don't think you. I think the best teams in this league. We showed a graphic earlier. The. The best O lines in football of the top 10, nine teams made the playoffs or eight or nine teams made the playoffs. In an offensive league, if you can't get push on third down, if you can't protect your star quarterback, you're not a good team. They got a battle line. My guess is they would take a call on Micah, but everybody's got them taking a running back and I get it. There's a need. Is there a chance they would take a swing or move down, that they're just active in round one, do you believe?
Diana Rossini
Yeah, I think they're going to be active. I think they're going to take a player. Look, we talk a lot on the show about the Cowboys and we're tough on them for. For a lot of good reason. But this is where their stars, this is where they do well. They don't spend a lot of money in free agency, but Jerry and Steven Jones, they do a nice job of finding players and, and this is where they can shine. You know, you bring up the point, are they rebuilding here? Are they closer to that at least? They certainly are, especially with the situations that they have, the holes that they have.
Jason McIntyre
I.
Diana Rossini
They don't want to believe that. They think they're a few pieces away, but I could see them continuing to focus on the offense, that. That is really where they need to get better. And from just having some conversations around the league, it seems that wide receiver is. Is going to be the position that they're going to try to look at. Obviously, you know, the other part of this, Colin and I had some conversations with coaches today about it. Look, this. The board is going to move so much, and we can all say we know what teams are going to do, but. But we really don't. And everyone's got plan one, two, and three, depending on what happens. And then the overarching storyline above this, which. It's there, and it's not that sexy, but it's there, is Kirk Cousins. Right. Because if a team trades with Atlanta over the next few days for Kirk Cousins, that's going to change their need for quarterback, which then affects what they're taking, who they're taking, and what other teams are then going to do. So that's. That's one of the stories I'm keeping an eye on and trying to stay close to because I know how much it's going to affect a couple of these rounds here, especially in regard to quarterbacks. So you've got the Cleveland Browns, the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Steelers who've all had conversations with Atlanta about a possible trade for Kirk. So it's just something that you got to keep an eye on.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, the whole thing's interesting. I heard, going back, I heard Jacksonville really wanted Travis Hunter this morning, was really interested. So you're. You're jagged.
Diana Rossini
I said electric, right?
Jason McIntyre
That would be.
Diana Rossini
I would put that in as electric, yes. You know, I've had a general manager not in Jacksonville say, you know, when I was just tossing that idea of, like, what do you think of Jacksonville doing this? His response was, that's a lot. That's a lot to move up for a position player that. That, you know, we're not sure how Jacksonville would use them. I do know Jacksonville wants an offensive player, so it would make sense that. That Travis Hunter would go there and be a wide receiver for them. Obviously, we know the player wants to play both sides of the ball, so maybe that's something that this new regime would be open to. But if there's a team that. That is going to make a statement tonight, that certainly can be it if they do that.
Jason McIntyre
Right.
Diana Rossini
But then think about it. So Travis Hunter goes to. We'll see the Browns move out. We still go back to what are the Browns going to be doing at quarterback? I still think that's going to be a question. Right, because you got Joe Flacco there, you have Kenny Pickett, you have desean there. But we know that situation at this point. I still think they're going to try to get someone somewhere. We didn't talk about the Saints. I know we talked about Chador and there was, there was some scuttlebutt about the Saints possibly showing interest in him. I feel pretty confident at this hour telling you that they are not going quarterback with that pick at nine, that they are going best player available and if they had a choice today, it would be defense. They're redoing their front, so they need some players. Cam Jordan's getting older, but I, I do think they're, they're in the market for a quarterback. I just don't think it's going to be with their first pick there, you know, in the top 10.

I know. Well, instead of me sitting here in cold New Jersey, I'm going to come out to California, have a cocktail with you. One draft. But let's, let's plan for it in the future.
Colin Cowherd
We'll have our own war room. All the cool people.
Diana Rossini
Yeah, I love it. Let's do it. Small group.
Colin Cowherd
There you go. The athletic Diana Rossini. JMac, by the way, good NBA night. Nuggets play the Clippers tonight. Knicks early game. I'm going to watch the first half of the Knicks intently against the Pistons. We both like. So we've been, I think we've done three days in a row, three games in a row. So we both like the Knicks tonight. Minus one and a half.
Jason McIntyre
I, I, I'm a little freaked out about the half point, so I want minus one with a little juice.
Colin Cowherd
Okay. What about the Clippers Nuggets? What's the line?
Jason McIntyre
I'm not touching that. I don't understand that series at all. I think I saw five and a half. I don't have it up.
Colin Cowherd
Oh, Sorry.
Jason McIntyre
Might be three and a half.
Colin Cowherd
Clippers getting five and a half.
Jason McIntyre
I'll have to look. Listen, Denver at home in the altitude. Different story or is the game in here in la?
Colin Cowherd
No, it was Denver.
Jason McIntyre
Oh, it's in la. What am I talking about? Yeah, I'm looking into some of this draft stuff. Sorry, I was off the. Off.
Colin Cowherd
Oh, it's okay off there. Yeah, it's fun. J. Mac with the news.
Fox Sports Radio
No, no, no, turn on the news. This is the Herd line news.
Jason McIntyre
The first story, Colin, is about the Dallas Cowboys. And listen, there's no way to slice this. They've been terrible this offseason, yet, you know, you got the Jones family. Jerry Jones said he's been working on substantial trades. And now Steven Jones spoke out and said they've handled this offseason much better than last.
Colin Cowherd
Ooh. Ooh. I think we did a, you know, overall a much better job than say last year of really, you know, doing quite a bit of volume in terms of really improving our roster and giving us, you know, the opportunity and having an environment where we can pick the best player. And I think our work we did in free agency is going to really pay off. I think it's going to make us a deeper football team one way or the other. I. I do not see it at all. What they see and what I see, maybe I'm just off. I don't think It's a top 10 roster. I don't think it's a top 15 offensive line. Right.
Jason McIntyre
So these are all the moves they've made on the screen here. Sorry, radio audience. But it's.
Colin Cowherd
None of those players are worth. I think Javante Williams is a decent running back. I like him.
Jason McIntyre
Decent. What, he's a two at best?
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, he's a number two running back, but they have a two. They can get a one in the draft.
Jason McIntyre
But they lost Dowdle.
Colin Cowherd
No, I'm saying if they went and got Hampton and then they had Javante Williams, they've solved their running back room. That's a good. That's a good.
Jason McIntyre
They haven't solved their offensive line room, their wide receiver room. Like, they've got so many. Kyr Elam was like, you know, he could barely get on the field last year. Dante Fowler Jr. A little long in the tooth. Joe Milton, I mean, come on.
Colin Cowherd
I think they. I think Javante Williams signals they want another back. They want to solve the running back room.
Jason McIntyre
Wait, you also see Miles Sanders there, the running back from. I think he was at Carolina. He's. He's A bounce around the league guy. He's a three, two running backs. He's a. I don't know, man. You can't convince me. This is like a, a seven win team.
Colin Cowherd
Well, and they lost key players. Demarcus Lawrence, Zach Martin, Maro Daddle was a good player for them. D was solid. Solid guy. Yeah, I know.
Jason McIntyre
He's better than Javante Williams. Sorry. I mean, Solomon Thomas was with the jets for a minute. He's not good. Kenneth Murray is probably the best guy they picked up, I think. And linebackers, I don't know what the value is. So it's almost like these guys, if you. It's like politicians. If you lie enough, people start to believe it. You could just keep saying, hey, we've had a great off season. We're doing all this stuff, it's great. We're making all these moves and eventually people will believe that you've had a good off season. But smart people like you and I can see through this nonsense.
Greg Rosenthal
Sense.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah. I just don't think it's a very good roster. And they're giving away draft picks left and right. Milton, Lance, Mingo.
Jason McIntyre
Who's the receiver?
Colin Cowherd
Mingo, you have a fourth round pick? Well, they don't have a fourth round pick tonight or this weekend. It's like guys fourth round pick for you could be a number two corner.
Jason McIntyre
Very shady. Let's go to now. The Denver Broncos. They hold the 20th pick in tonight's draft. According to Ian Rapaport, Denver is one of the teams late in the draft looking to move up. Rapoport believes they're targeting wide receiver Matthew golden from Texas. He is really talented. I think he's going to Dallas. I guess the Broncos are hot for him and want to move up. Now there is a report that Omarion Hampton earlier this morning was the betting favorite to be drafted by the Broncos. Again, these betting lines are moving, moving with the wind. You know, like, I don't know if, if I got Bo Nix, I'm going for a wide receiver. I don't know about a running back. Who are the two running backs that you like? There's a USC guy that you can get later in the draft, Woody Marks.
Colin Cowherd
There's a lot of backs. I would say Denver, I think they would go Colston Loveland. I think they would like a clever piece to go with Cortland Sutton. I think they'll get a running back. Mean, let's, let's face it, once you get the quarterback, they've got their left tackle, they've got their Number one receiver. Once you get the quarterback, you got to make it work, so.
Jason McIntyre
So their running back room currently is Jalil McLaughlin who flashed last year. He was. Okay, estimate who their wide receivers are. Cortland Sutton, Marvin Mims, and. And Vale. That's not a strong.
Colin Cowherd
Well, they also have Franklin from Oregon, the receiver.
Jason McIntyre
He's like listed as fourth on the depth chart.
Colin Cowherd
Well, he was disappointed.
Jason McIntyre
And then they picked up Evan Ingram, the tight end in free agency. He was good last year for Jacksonville.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Jason McIntyre
So, like, I don't. I. They. Bo Nix needs some help on the outside. I would go get him another receiver.
Colin Cowherd
Well, I don't think they're. I think Mims and Cortland Sutton are nice players.
Jason McIntyre
Mims is sort of one dimensional. He's a burner, but he can't do much other than the straight line action. I like Sutton. I would go after Golden. Open it up. I like Knicks. You've turned me on him. I was kind of lukewarm on him. And you hyping the heck out of him is kind of.
Colin Cowherd
Well, I don't think I hyped him. I just alerted you to the clear truth that that was available to everybody. Yeah.
Jason McIntyre
Final story. Colin is to the NBA. Lakers are now knotted with the Wolves at one apiece after Luka absolutely roasted every defender in his path for 31, 12 and 9. I think you and I believe that Luka is the best teammate LeBron's ever had. Right. However, there's a writer named Tom Haberstrough who said that Luka's 34 points per game in his two playoff games with LeBron partially makes him the best teammate LeBron has ever had. LeBron has never had a teammate this good. I fully agree. I don't think that's that hot of a take.
Joy Taylor
Who's.
Jason McIntyre
I mean, Dwayne Wade's a Hall of Famer. I think Luka's a much better overall player than Wade.
Colin Cowherd
No, well, no, no. Luka is the most gifted offensive player LeBron's ever played with. Kyrie would be second, and then I would say D. Wade and AD Are tied for third. Kyrie's an unbelievable player. Luka is a bigger body and I think is a Greater pure scorer. LeBron's had a lot of good team, let's be honest. He's had D. Wade, Bosh, kyrie, Irving.
Jason McIntyre
Luka, A.D. kevin Love.
Colin Cowherd
Kevin Love.
Jason McIntyre
He had to create those teams. He tried in Cleveland for what, eight years. They couldn't get him a second star. Nobody wants to go to Cleveland I didn't mention create his own teams. Yeah, you didn't mention Delonte west or.
Colin Cowherd
Whoever, Adriana Zelgaskas and Sideshow. I would say Luca is the greatest scoring talent he's ever had, but you're not going to get me to badmouth D. Wade or A.D. they're both hall of Fame. First.
Jason McIntyre
Let me just your whole. Kyrie is the second best, most offensively skilled, gifted, whatever, after Luca. Listen, Kyrie has never been the number one on a team that went anywhere in the playoffs. Dwyane Wade won a championship as the alpha. I think he's a better overall offensive player than Kyrie Irving. Sorry.
Colin Cowherd
Well, I think Kyrie's much more skilled. I think Dwayne's a better overall player. He's more durable, he's more physical. He could fit with multiple stars. Kyrie gets hurt a lot, but Kyrie is your classic. You know, you go into a gym and everybody's like, what is that? Yeah, I mean, he is all time skilled, but he. But he's a small athlete that doesn't defend and gets hurt a lot. And that's his career. But all. You know, again, hall of Famer.
Jason McIntyre
Let me ask Iverson or Kyrie?
Colin Cowherd
Kyrie. Really more gifted.
Jason McIntyre
Now, Allen Iverson took the Sixers to the finals and his second best player was Mutombo. Kyrie Irving has never done anything as a leader of a team. Never.
Colin Cowherd
It's close. I'd take Kyrie. I think Kyrie's a better offensive player.
Jason McIntyre
Can you get them to put that poll on social? Iverson or Kyrie?
Colin Cowherd
That is interesting.
Jason McIntyre
I don't think it's close. It's got to be.
Colin Cowherd
I get four responses on draft night, but go ahead. I think it's close. There's things about Iverson I like. I like his defense and his toughness. And with Kyrie, I just love.
Jason McIntyre
What about his practice habits?
Colin Cowherd
I don't care about that.
Jason McIntyre
I'm kidding. I'm joking.
Colin Cowherd
J. Mac with the news.
Fox Sports Radio
Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by the Herd lie news.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah. You know, D. Wade's one of those guys that he is. There's so much dexterity to what he did. I mean, D. Wade was an elite defender for his size. Elite rebounder, smart, played with multiple start. D. Wade could play with anybody.
Jason McIntyre
Hold on real quick. Just got the Clippers line. Clippers at home tonight.
Colin Cowherd
Let me guess, let me guess, let me guess. Minus four and a half.
Jason McIntyre
It's five. It was five and a half. Down to five. So some nuggets money coming in. There's some question about Michael Porter Jr. Who got dinged up last game.
Colin Cowherd
I would take the Clippers.
Jason McIntyre
This series is crazy good man. By the way, close games. I wonder what happens.
Colin Cowherd
I would take the Knicks minus one to one and a half Y and I would take the Clippers as a favorite minus five.
Jason McIntyre
What about okc? Minus nine and a half on the road.
Colin Cowherd
Staying away from that mess. That's a mess.
Jason McIntyre
So TNT picked that game to televise over Clippers, Nuggets. I don't know what those executives are thinking. That's a crazy decision.
Colin Cowherd
Both, both Nuggets Clippers games have been sensational right down to the end. And it's all a bunch of like name marquee players. It's like Jokic, Murray, Kawhi, Harden, you got star. Even the role players like Batum have been around forever. Michael, Porter, Gordon, it's. That is a great first round series.
Jason McIntyre
I don't get this okc, Memphis, that's like unwatchable, you know.
Colin Cowherd
The team that gets no respect is Giannis and Milwaukee, they got a title. They put them first game up all the time. Yeah, that series, I'm telling you got.
Jason McIntyre
To get out of there, man.
Colin Cowherd
The mo the most under discussed team in the NBA that's good though is Indiana. The Pacers have awesome. Yeah, they've got a ton of talent.
Jason McIntyre
There's a report that Giannis will hold his going away party at the Dells in Wisconsin when he's leaving that shopping mall.
Colin Cowherd
By the way, nicest people in the world in Wisconsin. It's beautiful. I went to a golf course on the water up there. It's beautiful. Wisconsin's beautiful.
Jason McIntyre
Private jet in played golf and then.
Colin Cowherd
I don't private jet anywhere. My wife went there when you know, as a kid they would go vacation, you know, in the Dells in Wisconsin. It's not a shopping mall. And Wisconsin is like one of the the lakes everywhere.
Jason McIntyre
You know, maybe this summer if we go to Chicago, we could do a weekend bender in Dells, Wisconsin.
Colin Cowherd
We hang with me in Chicago. You'll have fun. Chicago's on the water too. I'm just saying Wisconsin is one of those states that it gets overlooked. Rhode Island's like that. It's like no, go to Rhode island in Wisconsin in the summer. It's about as good as it gets.
Jason McIntyre
As good as it gets.
Colin Cowherd
Oh, I'm telling you, in the summer, Wisconsin. Oh yeah, they got beers that beers.
Jason McIntyre
Nobody else in America has beers this summer. Cowherd. What are you doing all right. Rhode island in Wisconsin.

Colin Cowherd
So there's an article that came out, I think it was Tom Pelissero wrote it the other day, and an assistant coach hammered S.H. sanders and said he wasn't one of the worst interviews I've ever had. And at the time, I just said, you know, take a deep breath. We get all these all the time. You know, you're just looking for information. But. But Joel Klatt, he touched on something earlier today. I had mentioned it briefly. I feel kind of the same way he does on this, of the harsh criticism that Shador Sanders is the worst interview ever. And there's all sorts of problems. Here's Joel.
J
We're teaching kids that the biggest issue or. Or thing that they should be concerned about is their brand and how much money they're making. So then a lot of them make a lot of money in college football, and then they sit in these meetings in the draft process with these assistant coaches that they make ten times more money than, and they're like, I don't. Like, who are you? There's a lot of bitter assistant coaches in the National Football League that have not made a ton of money and they have not moved up the ladder. And then these kids walk in and they don't kiss their butts. And so then they run around to the next guy that'll write an article for them.
Jason McIntyre
And.
J
And they start talking about how this kid's interviews were terrible.
Colin Cowherd
I think that exists. J. Mac and I have talked about that. Is that you gotta. I don't give a lot of people oxygen on the Internet. There's a lot of bitterness, especially when it's anonymous. Now, I've had to cover up. I don't give the names of a lot of the executives I talk to. And the reason being is that's how I get information. Because sometimes they want your opinion, too. Like, what do you. I mean, right. Right now, you know, if I. If I talk to somebody, they don't. They'll ask me questions. What do you think? What do you make? They want it. They just want everybody's opinion. I don't think. I mean, I didn't see anything that indicated. And I defended Caleb Williams last year. I knew Caleb pretty well. Every interaction I had with Caleb Williams, he was a gentleman. I mean, I remember walking into a Notre Dame USC suite this year, and Caleb was in the first row. And I just walked down to him and just said, hey, just wanted to say hi. He got up. He didn't have to do that. Shook my hand. How are you doing? And I was like, bro, sit down. You enjoy the game? You know, again, thoughtful. From what I've heard with Shador, he's a thoughtful kid. He's a nice kid. I. He's a hard worker. I don't necessarily buy that. Some of that stuff sounds personal. But I do think Joel's bigger point is these kids don't come in and grovel as much. And that's the reality of it. They've got a bigger bank account than some of these coaches now do. I think you should kind of just, you know, yes or no, sir. Yeah, that's probably, you know, I mean, listen, we've all had to kiss the ring to management at some point in our lives. Like, it's not the biggest thing for 15 minutes to nod, shake your head, and, you know, we all have different personalities based on the room we're in, right. And who we're talking to. So I. I think it shows some self awareness if you're humble, even though somebody's driving you crazy. These are brief interviews. You're not sitting there for four hours. So. But I don't buy a lot. The stuff that always turns me off is the stuff I can see. And I always had this theory that if a couple is arguing at a party, what is it like on the drive home? Like, if you can't hide your animosity or lack of respect for your partner at a party, what is it like at your home? And I kind of feel that way. If you can't control your decision making or your judgment when the game is going on, that worries me. You know, how many times in your life. Think about this, J. Mac. How many times in your life have you, you know, you go, you talk to somebody, and even in boxing, you have three different judges, every one of them different side of the ring, and they all have different perspectives. But one of the things I've noticed is I've interviewed people for my company and had multiple people at my company interview people. And we all have a different perception of what the person's like. That's why resumes are matter. Yeah, resumes matter. But, I mean, you can interview somebody, and what is arrogant to you is confident to me. So, like, Baker Mayfield interviewed incredibly well. He was really smart, looked you in the eye, very confident, great. On the whiteboard, a couple people said, little cocky, which he was when he played. But the people that I talked to, that I trusted are like, he's very. He was better than Darnold in the interviews. And people took his personality as confidence. No, they did. They didn't take. You know, one person said, you know, he's Oklahoma cocky. You know, he's got that little. Little. Little chip on his shoulder thing. But the other two people I talked to were like, he's just. He was hard not to like, well, what if you'd have given Baker $8 million in his bank account because of the nil? Would Baker have been even more confident? And that confidence just moved the meter to arrogance. So I think these kids are coming in now. They don't grovel like they used to.
Jason McIntyre
How much does the setting matter if you're meeting someone in an office for a formal interview versus going in a car ride with them somewhere versus having a meal with them? I think that can matter and, like, change the situation. I like to see how people interact with waiters. You know. Oh, somebody smart once told me, you see somebody treat a waiter badly. No, please, no, thank you. Talking gruff. Just know that's coming your way.
Colin Cowherd
I've told you before, I've dropped friendships on poor tippers. If you. If you are a poor tipper, it's like, well, I don't. That say, I don't.
Jason McIntyre
Like, here's my. I was. I was a poor college kid. I didn't have any money. I wasn't tipping the pizza guy every single time.
Colin Cowherd
Sorry about different. But people that I. People that I know do well for themselves and treat help poorly or tip poorly.
Jason McIntyre
That's a bad sign.
Colin Cowherd
It's a bad.
Jason McIntyre
Just like, listen, I'm not validated.
Colin Cowherd
Well. Well, I thought, no, no, you're cheap. You don't respect people. That's good.
Jason McIntyre
How about this? Somebody's coming out of Starbucks. I'm going in. I hold the door for them. If they don't say thank you, I turn and say, you're welcome. So they know, like, that's protocol. That's how you treat people. That's how you are nice in a culture, in a setting. And, like, if, you know, Shador Sanders, going to the interview and being kind of not friendly, I don't know that I want that guy as my quarterback. I personally like him, but I haven't interviewed him, you know?
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, this stuff is. I mean, some people, I think Shedeur's dad, I think Deion has given him enough wisdom in life because Deion's had such a wild, varied. I mean, he's done everything. He's coached, he's played, he's broadcasted. I mean, Dion's been around the block. So Dion has so much life experience. I am sure he has imparted some of his wisdom to his son. So my guess is Shadour didn't walk in and. And get real cocky. I don't buy that.
Jason McIntyre
Also, Shador probably also grew up in a mansion driving a really nice car in high school. And then he gets to college and he's got the nil money flowing, so he's been pretty. Well, he's nothing. Points to Shador being like a hungry, coming from the mean streets of wherever, like, working his way up. He's always kind of had it pretty nice. Right? What's your line about satin sheets and boxers?
Colin Cowherd
Well, Marvin Hagler said it's hard to get up to train at 5 in the morning when you're sleeping in silk sheets. Once. Once you're a champion, you know, Conor McGregor, you got all that money. The whiskey brand. I'm not saying you mail it in, but it's. It's a little harder to instill that.
Jason McIntyre
He was like a plumber on his way up, wasn't he? Conor McGregor, his story is incredible. And then he gets to the top and it's like, you know, a little different story.
Colin Cowherd
I don't know.
Jason McIntyre
What about my guy, Jaylen Milro? No chatter about him at all.
Colin Cowherd
Well, they. He is a wonderful kid and he's got a great family, but when you watch him, you can see the mechanical nature. He's not a. He's not a terribly rhythmic athlete. He's just a wildly gifted, fast, explosive athlete. But when you watch him throw the ball in college, it looks uncomfortable, it looks mechanical.
Jason McIntyre
That being said, I did bet him to be drafted in the first round. Not. Not a significant bet. But I'm just telling you, if you look at Lamar coming out of Louisville and Jayla Milro coming out of Alabama, who's the better prospect?
Colin Cowherd
Say it again.
Jason McIntyre
Jayla Milro coming out of college and Lamar coming out of college.
Colin Cowherd
Lamar.
Joy Taylor
Lamar.
Jason McIntyre
They were telling him to switch positions.
Colin Cowherd
Well, one guy was a prominent former gm. Well, I mean, I think it's close. I don't.

Podcast Summary: The Herd with Colin Cowherd – Hour 3: It is Draft Day
Release Date: April 24, 2025
Host: Colin Cowherd
Guests: Diana Rossini, Jason McIntyre
As the NFL Draft unfolds, host Colin Cowherd highlights the inherent unpredictability reporters face on this pivotal day. With numerous rumors and last-minute changes, staying updated is a constant challenge.
Colin Cowherd [02:43]: "You never know quite what you're getting as a reporter the day of the draft, but there's a lot of stuff swirling."
A significant portion of the discussion centers around Shedeur Sanders, whose draft position appears to be slipping. Diana Rossini provides insights into the surrounding rumors and potential team interests.
Diana Rossini [03:15]: "There's some stuff running about Gen D right now... a running back perhaps getting a little bit more love at the top of the draft than we expected."
The conversation extends to the potential impact on Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers if Sanders were to be drafted by them.
Diana Rossini [08:31]: "I don't believe the Pittsburgh Steelers are doing anything tonight with any regard to Aaron Rodgers. I think they're 100% operating as if Aaron's not going to be here because they have to."
The Rams have been notably active in pursuing top-tier tight ends, reflecting their strategic emphasis on strengthening this position.
Colin Cowherd [05:04]: "There's a lot of talk they were moving up. In fact, I got it validated they were very interested in Brock Bowers."
Rossini elaborates on the Rams' consistent efforts to trade up for preferred tight ends, suggesting a continued aggressive stance in the draft.
Diana Rossini [05:34]: "We've all covered and seen less need for a while. We know his personality kind of just goes after it."
The Cowboys' offseason moves are scrutinized, with a particular focus on their offensive line. Despite high expectations, concerns remain about the depth and quality of their roster.
Colin Cowherd [19:34]: "I do not see it at all. What they see and what I see, maybe I'm just off. I don't think it's a top 10 roster."
Rossini discusses the Cowboys' potential focus on wide receivers in the draft, amidst their ongoing rebuild.
Diana Rossini [10:58]: "They are continuing to focus on the offense, that is really where they need to get better."
Denver is keen on bolstering their wide receiver lineup, with Matthew Golden emerging as a favorite target. The Broncos' strategy appears to involve enhancing their passing game to complement their existing talents.
Diana Rossini [22:17]: "I think Denver, I think they would go Colston Loveland. I think they would like a clever piece to go with Cortland Sutton."
Rossini provides a candid assessment of the year's draft class, deeming it weaker compared to previous years. The scarcity of standout stars and elite quarterbacks is a recurring theme.
Diana Rossini [07:00]: "It's weak compared to last year... there's not a lot of big headliners."
The potential trade of Kirk Cousins is another hot topic. Teams like the Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings, and Pittsburgh Steelers are in discussions with Atlanta, which could significantly alter draft needs and strategies.
Diana Rossini [11:29]: "We've got the Cleveland Browns, the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Steelers who've all had conversations with Atlanta about a possible trade for Kirk."
A segment delves into the challenges of assessing player character during interviews. The discussion touches on the shift in player attitudes, with modern athletes exhibiting less deference during interactions compared to previous generations.
Colin Cowherd [32:04]: "But Joel's bigger point is these kids don't come in and grovel as much. And that's the reality of it. They've got a bigger bank account than some of these coaches now do."
Towards the latter part of the episode, the conversation shifts to the NBA, comparing players like Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The debate centers on their impact as teammates and overall offensive prowess.
Colin Cowherd [24:07]: "I think Luka is the most gifted offensive player LeBron's ever played with. Kyrie would be second, and then I would say D. Wade and AD are tied for third."
As the draft progresses, Cowherd and his guests share their final predictions and reflections on team performances and draft outcomes. Emphasis is placed on how these moves will shape the upcoming NFL season.
