These days I can do anything from my phone book. A vacation order, a meal from a five star restaurant, buy and trade stocks. But maybe the most amazing thing I can do is make my dirty laundry disappear and then reappear perfectly washed and folded. I have Rinse to thank for that. I just schedule a pickup in the Rinse app or@rinse.com, and a rince valet comes to get my clothes and before I know it, they're back, crisply folded and ready to wear. They even do dry cleaning, which is returned hanging in a nice Rinse garment bag. And with Rinse my satisfaction is guaranteed. If for any reason I'm not happy, they'll reclean my clothes for free. Best of all, Rinse saves me tons of time each week. That's time I get to do something I love versus something I have to do. So if you want to save loads of time by not doing loads of laundry, remember there's an app for that. Rinse. I sat down with Jasmine Crockett, Democratic representative of Texas. She's holding down the fort for her party in one of the most conservative states in the union.
Colin Cowherd
I think that ultimately, who will become the Democratic nominee for president will be someone that has been out there and has shown that they won't allow themselves to be punch and just say thank you like they will punch back.

Why don't we go back to the NFL and let's go to Eric Mangini, former Jets head coach. He's all over TV at FS1. Always really looking sharp. Although I'm sure he's wearing shorts in this Eric, how was your fourth of July? Excellent or awesome or how we doing?
Eric Mangini
It was 4th of July was, was fantastic. Had a bunch of family in town, had all the boys at home and great weather where I was as well. So couldn't, couldn't have asked for more.
Jason McIntyre
A peek behind the curtain so when I got to FS1, Eric Mangini started coming on the shows and I'm sure he was annoyed but I would pester him because I'm a Jets fan. I would just pepper him with all these jets questions and he's really smart and and thoughtful and he would look at me like what is this guy's agenda? But all I want to know about is my Jets. So you know you had Brian Schottenheimer as your offensive coordinator. Now my memories of him were probably not as great as yours. I remember him being ultra conservative and boring, no creativity. And that I thought held you guys back a little. But he's now the coach of the Cowboys and I'm curious your thoughts on on Brian shot. Is he almost underrated?
Eric Mangini
Yeah. When, when the Cowboys hired him it wasn't the typical Cowboys hire right. They, they want to get get the splashy name and very different off season for Dallas in general where they're not over promising like they typically do. So, so there's a lot of, a lot of negativity around picking Brian. But, but what people don't realize is Brian has is as qualified as any other first year head coach. He's been in the league a long time. He comes from a football family. When I hired him he was with the San Diego Chargers at the Time and we had played the Chargers the year before in New England and their offense was really difficult to defend. There's shifting and motioning, multiple formations, very creative and that's something that I wanted to bring to the Jets. But, but there were other things that we wanted to incorporate as well. And in sitting down with Brian, he had strong beliefs as to what he wanted to do, but he was open minded enough to incorporate a lot of other things. So we were going to, we were going to take elements from what we did in New England, we were going to take elements from what they did in New York prior to us getting there and what they had done with the charges as well and build our offense. And that's what I really like about Brian is that he is, he has conviction, but he's also willing to hear people out and to incorporate new ideas and to try to innovate. And to me that's an undervalued asset for any head coach.
Jason McIntyre
Yeah, a little question though is, and you can't put a number on this, but there's some strong personalities on that team. Adding Pickens obviously to CD Lamb and then Micah Parsons in his podcast. There's just a lot going on in Dallas and I wonder for a first time head coach, I know his dad, you know, he's been around the league for a long time. His dad obviously coach forever. Is that a lot to handle? This is a, like it would be much easier if Schottenheimer's first coaching job was in like Jacksonville, out of the spotlight. Now you've got strong players, strong owner, a lot of national TV games, America's team, for whoever still believes that, it just feels like a little too much for shoddy.
Eric Mangini
Well, anytime you bring in challenging personalities, you're going to have to navigate through that. Brian's always done a good job relating to the players that he's coached, especially the quarterbacks. He's built long term relationships with all the guys that he's coached at the quarterback position. And now you, you have to expand that out. He did it as well as an offensive coordinator, but now it's the whole team. Another, another thing that's, that's going overlooked is the addition of Matt Eberfluous. And you can say what you want about him as a head coach, but he's an excellent defensive coordinator and when he took over, when he took back over in Chicago, the defense made some, some significant strides. I think he's going to be excellent there really as a defensive coordinator. I think the other thing is he does bring Head coaching experience. He's fresh out of it. He's, he's made mistakes. He's. He's gone through different challenges and him and Brian have a good relationship and, and that, that has significant value as well.
Jason McIntyre
All right, let's pivot to a team that really matters this season. The Jets. Well, not really. They don't matter. I just for my purposes, Justin Fields at quarterback, new offensive coordinator, new head coach. First time head coach in Aaron Glenn. Just so much newness across the board. However, last year Washington had a ton of newness, owner, coach, coordinators, but they had experienced guys like, you know, obviously Quinn had been to a Super Bowl. Like, I just don't see the jets being great this year. But is there a case for Justin Fields to dominate and crush it?
Eric Mangini
Well, I'm a big Aaron Glenn fan. I coached Aaron Glenn when I was in New York with Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick. So I know what type of guy he is. And Aaron, Aaron has gone through the process. He started as a scout and then he worked in personnel and then he was an assistant coordinator. So I think that that has a huge value. Plus he was an, an exceptional player. So he, he brings that cachet. He's been with the organization. So, so the, that hire I, I thought was great. But he is inexperienced as a head coach and there's a lot of guys on his staff that are inexperienced as well. And then, then that could work both ways. That some of it is you're going to make mistakes that maybe you wouldn't if you, you had had gone through it. But there some freshness of ideas that you, you're not set in your way. So that can be, be valuable as well. In terms of Justin Fields, I like the signing in the sense that they paid what, $40 million for two years which is under what most significantly under what most quarterbacks are getting for one. And he's improved every year that he's played and it hasn't been these gigantic jumps, but he's made, he's made jumps in completion percentage and interception to touchdown ratio into the amount of sacks that he's taken. That you've seen, you've seen real progress. And this is kind of the anti jets experience. Right. So jets quarterbacks go other places and hit and now the jets are trying to take someone's quarterback that didn't hit and turn him into a star. So maybe, maybe the reverse engineering it will work great for New York.
Jason McIntyre
I love the optimism. All right, let's quickly pivot here to Brett Veach the big boss at the Chiefs, you know, talking about Travis Kelce and essentially was like this might be it. Like this could be a swan song. I don't know. We're not taking it out of context. It's part of a larger quote but like it's an actual quote about his fading, if you will, 35, soon to be 36 year old tight end. But we had Albert Brear come on earlier coach and essentially say, hey, the Chiefs offense could be better with the wide receivers healthy. They may not need Kelsey to do that much. What your thoughts on the Chiefs and Kelsey?
Eric Mangini
Well, we, we dinged Kelsey for his, his season last year, but he still had a great season. Where do you have 96 catches that the touchdowns were down more than we would have liked. But what I didn't love about Kelsey's off season last year was he was in the new relationship with, with the most famous singer performer world. So there's that component of it. And, and I don't begrudge anybody from, from experiencing all that you can experience. But he was traveling a lot, he was doing things, A lot of things collected are associated with that. And then he had the TV show, he had the game show, he had the podcast. He, he was extremely active. And this is after back to back shortened off seasons because they had gone so deep with the super bowl appearances. It's a lot. It's a lot. And, and I, I love that this off season he's been very low key. It seems like he's taken a step back, he's gotten some time for himself to recalibrate and it does get harder as you get older. But his approach this off season I think has been very different and will help him significantly. And you could kill him for his production last year, but his production last year was pretty good. Compared to his peer group.
Jason McIntyre
Compared to his peer group, yes. But like a couple years prior to that he was like totally dominant, unstoppable. I like you must have been hanging around your kids a lot because you just used low key and that was like the buzzword for us. You know, I was going to say Travis Kelce is low key washed. But that might be a little bit harsh. But it sounds like you, you know, that's a good point about his off seasons have been kind of sort of busy. I forgot he hosted a game show.
Eric Mangini
He did everything last year, commercials. It was travel, it was the high profile relationship, it was the game show. Remember the. I thought he was great and the TV show was a grotesquery. I thought he did a great job with that as well like you can. He was setting himself for life after football, setting himself up after football. And then I, I imagine as he went through last season and the season ended the way that it did, now he's not ready for life after football and he wants to go run it back. And I'm sure it's year to year now, but a dialed in focus. Travis Kelce is a dangerous steady defense.
Jason McIntyre
That's a great take because it reminds me of what Baker Mayfield was with the Browns and led the NFL in commercials and he just didn't really produce. You remember that. You may be familiar with that era.
Eric Mangini
I look, I loved his commercials. I thought they were fantastic. He actually really funny but, but it didn't, you know, it didn't help him on the field at that point.
Jason McIntyre
Yeah. Yeah. All right. Eric Mangini, breakfast show at FS1. Very thoughtful former head coach. You know, maybe, maybe Glenn will bring you into training camp to talk to the guys. Sounds like you guys are friendly still.
Eric Mangini
Look, I, I talked to Aaron not too long ago and, and you know, I haven't been back to jets world and in quite some time but I'm definitely cheering, cheering for him. There's a lot of former players now with Rabel at, at New England. I'm excited for both those guys and I'm excited to see what, how they impact their programs, knowing their personality and, and watching their stories.
Jason McIntyre
Yeah, I would say Glenn's handled the New York media well so far. So that's another one of your guys. You got people everywhere. All right, Eric, thanks a lot. Enjoy the summer. We'll talk to you soon.
Eric Mangini
All right, awesome. Talk to you soon.
Alex Curry
Yeah.
Jason McIntyre
Eric Mangini. That's a good take. Alex, about Travis, I totally forgot he's pulled a million different ways with a podcast and the TV show and all this stuff. Taylor Swift. All right, so coming up next, the Herd is moving to the Fox Sports app. We'll have Adam Chernoff on. Gambling guru made everybody, including myself, money last year. He's calling for a Bills Rams Super Bowl. We'll talk a lot of other prop bets and stuff. Coming up next on FS1, the Women's Euro 2025 Norway versus Iceland. We'll see you on the app.

Hey, so we all make mistakes, but owning up to them is the right thing to do. So you know Degree Cool Rush deodorant, right? Well, last year they changed the formula and it did not go over well with their fans. So Degree's whole thing is it turns up the sweat and odor protection when you turn up the effort. And good thing it does, because Cool Rush fans really turned up the effort to bring the original formula back. One guy even started an online petition, and Degree listened. They admitted they effed up. They're bringing back the original Cool Rush scent. They're bringing it back and it's exactly how you remember it. Cool, crisp, and fresh. It's back in Walmart, Target, and other stores now for under $4. There's a reason it's been the number one men's antiperspirant for the last decade. It's the same reason why people were not happy when it changed. So if you've never tried it, it might be a good time to see what the fuss is about. Head to your local Walmart Target and try the OG Degree Cool Rush for yourself. Hey everybody. You've heard me talk about Green River Whiskey, the official whiskey of the herd podcast. And if you know anything about me, I love a good metaphor. So the team at Green river challenged me to come up with a perfect metaphor to describe their incredible bourbon and rye whiskeys. And with the playoffs upon us, the answer is clear. Green River Whiskey is like a big playoff win by your favorite team, always sure to raise your spirits. Foreign stuff from Eric Mangini. Let's go to Alex Curry with the news.
Eric Mangini
No, no, no, no. Turn on the news.
Alex Curry
This is the Herdline news.
Colin Cowherd
Well, J. Mac NBA tipped off their summer league. Oh, yes, this week in Vegas. But all eyes will be on tonight's matchup between the Mavs and Lakers, with Cooper Flag making his debut against Bronnie James. Ticket prices are nearing record prices for tonight, with the average ticket going for $223, which is just shy of Wemby's summer league debut at $297. But Cooper Flagg is a real deal. He's new face of the franchise. I was extremely impressed when I got to interview him when he was out here after his college football season accepting his Wooden award. I mean, this kid eats, sleeps, breathes basketball. It's in his DNA. Both of his parents played basketball. His twin brother plays basketball, older sibling plays basketball. And he, he told me, because I asked, like, are you going to take a little break? What are you doing before the draft? So this was pre draft. He's like, well, I, I want to keep practicing. And he's like, but my agent and my family are forcing me to take a break. So this is a kid that all he wants to do is be the best that he can be, get better every single day. We heard it in his draft press conference when he said, I just want to be a sponge and soak everything up and be better. But this is going to be an interesting. Obviously, it's going to be a lot of eyeballs on this matchup tonight. Bronny should be better because he has an NBA season under his belt and he's played in NBA games. But what are you expecting from this debut?
Jason McIntyre
I'm expecting us to lead the show tomorrow with Cooper Flag.
Colin Cowherd
Yes, we are.
Jason McIntyre
I think Jovan Buha was on earlier and said, yeah, 20 points seems realistic. I just want to see that he's dominant.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Jason McIntyre
Like, right out of the gate should be able to be dominant. I, I, you never can read too much into summer league. Right? No, you don't want to overreact, but you do want to see your number one overall pick who I said is going to moon more than one mvp who I'm compared to Kevin Garnett.
Colin Cowherd
I know you're.
Jason McIntyre
I want to see him pardon the pain. Well, listen, Kevin Garnett didn't, wasn't blowing away people in summer league.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Jason McIntyre
But I think he can. So I would go for anything short of 20 and 10 would be a little bit of a disappointment.
Colin Cowherd
Okay. I mean, but Cooper Flag has been blowing high school. He's been breaking records since high school. His one year at Duke. Like, it. If anybody is going to do it, I don't think it.
Jason McIntyre
I mean, he's worked the last. Okay, so when he's like 11 years old, he's probably like, I'm going to the NBA. That's what I was saying. Okay. I had no chance. Cooper Flag had a chance. So for like seven years, he's worked up to this moment. Now he's here.
Alex Curry
Yeah.
Jason McIntyre
Probably some butterflies.
Colin Cowherd
He is so calm, cool and collected. Like when you talk to this kid, like, it's just, this is what I'm supposed to be doing and this is what I'm doing and here I am. And I'm going to do the best that I can.
Jason McIntyre
As for the Bronny angle, just want to see improvement all around game. You know, again, I said, can he be T.J. mcConnell? Ish. Next year for the Lakers, maybe a stretch, but I think that's what he should aim for. Like, look at this guy. He's looked okay at moments in the summer league.
Colin Cowherd
Better. He's looked better. And I think people like also need to remember before his rookie season, he had cardiac arrest.
Alex Curry
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
In college. Like, he was also fighting back from a huge adversity. And he is another great athlete who is obviously his dad is one of the greatest of all time. So you're training with the best of the best. But for Bronnie, this should be a big improvement. He has NBA games under his belt, so he should be better.
Jason McIntyre
Five o'. Clock. Five o' clock Pacific. Eight, eight Eastern. Yes.
Colin Cowherd
Fired up alarms. All right. To the NFL. Will Pete Carroll will take over the Raiders this offseason and is looking to create a new culture in Las Vegas. Face of the Raiders, Max Crosby says that it's not fake energy from his new coach. Adding things just feel different in the building, which they should. Pete Carroll is a culture creator and that's exactly what the Raiders need. That's why they. That's why they hired him. They have a lot of new obviously this year with Pete Carroll, they hired Chip Kelly as their offensive coordinator. Trader for Geno Smith drafted Ashton Genty. Now, do I think the. The Raiders are going to win the division? No. Like they have Chiefs, Chargers and Broncos in that division. But I do think that they're going to be better this year. You.
Jason McIntyre
I'm focusing on that not fake energy line. Why do you think this is a dig at the last coach, the linebacker Pierce, who came on and was like very rah rah. You know, he's a former player.
Colin Cowherd
No.
Jason McIntyre
I wonder if.
Colin Cowherd
No, I think just because with Heat there. There comes a lot obviously like when he was at sc, you would have celebrities, right. This like he's won at every level and he knows what it takes to win. So he's saying it's not fake. He is. He is the real deal is how I'm reading into that.
Jason McIntyre
Oh. One of the producers noted I can't take credit for this.
Colin Cowherd
That's smart.
Jason McIntyre
Josh McDaniels was a coach before. Pierce is the fake energy agenda now. McDaniels has been a guest on here. He seems like a nice guy. I I would love to drill down Max Crosby. Not a fan of my work because I didn't have him as like a top five defensive end. And all these Raiders fans. I made a comment on the show, I was like, max, come on dog. Geez.
Colin Cowherd
You can't blame him though. You gotta believe in yourself. So you gotta call out people who also don't.
Jason McIntyre
I didn't think he was a top five pass rusher in the league. Like it's not bad if you're number six. It's like when I called Michael Jordan the second greatest player of all time. Oh my God, Jason, you're crazy. I'm like, he's the second greatest player ever in the history of basketball.
Alex Curry
Yeah.
Jason McIntyre
Let's not freak out, okay?
Colin Cowherd
Let's move to baseball where despite having the best record in the National League, the Dodgers have been struggling as of late, getting swept in back to back series to the Astros and the brewers. Dropping their sixth straight game over the span, L.A. has struggled on all cylinders with a minus 34 run differential which is their worst over a six game set since 1958. And what I have to say here to fans, baseball fans, Dodger fans, we are in the dog days of summer. This is what happens in a baseball season. When you play 162 games you are going to have ups and downs. This is the time if you are going to have a down to do it because you're about to head on the All Star break. So guys are about to get a nice little reset and refresh. They do have some good news. The good news is Tyler Glass now returned yesterday. He looked good. Blake Snell and Blake Triton are nearing a return. They have started their rehab assignments. Kershaw is over performing. He made history joining the 3000 strikeout club. And then you have Ohtani who is ahead of schedule. There is some bad news with the Dodgers. Bullpen is getting taxed. Max Muncie is out until about August, but also it's a bone bruise on his knee which was best case scenario compared to possible. Everyone thought it might have been an ACL or something like that. So MRI showed no structural damage. So best case scenario there. And then Roki Sasaki also has no official return date. So the Dodgers have a lot of moving pieces. I wouldn't look too much into this. This is a completely normal baseball slump and actually happening at a good time.
Jason McIntyre
Right.
Colin Cowherd
When guys can go take a break and reset.
Jason McIntyre
So I'm looking at the run differential that on the screen it says outscore by 34 runs significant. So before that the Dodgers were almost a 100 run differential.
LeVar Arrington
Right.
Jason McIntyre
The Cubs are number one by a mile. But all of a sudden they still.
Colin Cowherd
Have the best record of baseball.
Jason McIntyre
They do. They do. That's the thing. The record is tops. It's just a little, little six game stretch. Six games is the equivalent of what, like maybe a half a bad NFL half a football? Like one game, one half of one game a week.
Colin Cowherd
So if you play 162 games, I'm divided by seven.
Jason McIntyre
Don't do the math. It's early. Don't make me the Chiefs are down 21 nothing at halftime.
Colin Cowherd
Maybe a quarter.
Jason McIntyre
I think it's closer to maybe a quarter, but either way, yeah, like you said, nothing. Alex with the news.
Alex Curry
Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by the Herd lie news.
Jason McIntyre
All right, we'll tell you which NFL bets you need to make next on the show with an insider and which bets to avoid as well. That's next year on the Herd. Be sure to catch live editions of.
Alex Curry
The Herd, weekdays at noon Eastern, 9am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1 and the iHeartRadio app.

Back here on the herd. Jason McIntyre in for Colin Cowherd. So several years ago, I forget where I was and I heard this guy speak about gambling and I was like, dude, he's next level. Like, I mean this is his laser focus. So let's bring on Adam Chernoff, NFL gambling analyst. He's taking the leap. He hosts the Simple Handicap podcast. He's also taking the leap. He's trying to go about this by himself. A men among boys in the gambling space. All right, Adam, last time you were on the show, you killed me for my Minnesota Vikings take. So I don't know if I could bounce back from that one. You do not love the Vikings like I do. But I do want to do some NFL win totals. Have you really circled anything on the board here? A lot of folks going to be heading to Vegas in, in the summer months. They want to put some season long bets on the board. What do you got?
Alex Curry
Yeah, so you didn't really give me any easy layups to go with this week because you didn't really have any crazy hot takes like your JJ McCarthy one. So we'll try give some some other directions here for folks to go and maybe throw some criticism at me instead of you. So let's go some season long futures. I'll give you three. Let's start with one and I'll judge your outrage as we go here. Trevor Lawrence to lead the league in touchdowns. You can bet that at 28. 1. And there's a few things here that lead me to believe this is going to be Trevor Lawrence's best season in his career. So he's been dealing with Doug Peterson giving up play calling duties. He's been dealing with an offense that's been very disjointed. He's had the highest drop rate of any quarterback the last three seasons combined. So it's not like he hasn't been moving the football efficiently. And this year to me is just a big reset for him. He gets Liam Cohen coming in and the big thing Cohen's going to do is introduce a very creative run game that's going to take a lot of pressure off of him. He's got a bonafide superstar wide receiver and Robinson if he can find the number two and some help, I think It's a very big year for Trevor Lawrence. So 28 to 1. It's probably pretty high in the outrage remedy, but maybe we can go a little bit more with these other two.
Jason McIntyre
Well, I'm curious. So is the defense that bad that they're going to be playing catch up a lot? Because, you know, it seems like Cohen's a run first guy run to set up the pass in Tampa. He had the three running backs who absolutely crushed it.
Alex Curry
Yeah, it was. And you look at Baker Mayfield's numbers and they absolutely exploded last year for over 4,500 yards. And I think it's going to be a case of the Jags being in a lot of competitive games because the defense still has a long way to go. It's tough to be worse than last year, but it'll be a step forward. And if that run game is alleviating some of the pressure and opening up some space, I think not only is that going to help Lawrence find some more open receivers, but it's also going to allow the offense to take a big step forward too. So it's a combo of both. Very friendly, schedule, a lot of indoor road games as well. There's four of them. So just a lot of positive signs here and a big price for Trevor Lawrence to have a big breakout year.
Jason McIntyre
Well, I like that because everybody crushed him for that contract. Oh, he's not worth it. Like, let's settle down. Your next one involves Roma Dunze. Really? The Chicago Bears. Oh my gosh, this is crazy.
Alex Curry
He's going to be the best wide receiver for the Bears from a stats perspective, from a performance perspective, a personnel guy within the league who I trust ton when it comes to player evaluation. I was talking with him and I said, like, who's the breakout guy who's going to stand out this year? And really, without hesitation, he said, Roma Dunze is going to take a big leap. Last year, you think about what the Bears went through. Three different play callers, a rookie QB coming in to try find this rookie wide receiver. It was just there was so many moving parts, so much thrown at Williams and this offense that's all entirely reset. Ben Johnson, one of the best player callers in the NFL, is already holding both Williams and A Dunes A as well as the entire offense to a really high standard. There's a rebuild offensive line. I think it's a massive year for A Dunes A. So a thousand plus receiving yards for Rome is available at plus 175. I think that's a great bet to make. I Think he goes over that? If you're a fantasy player, he's definitely a guy you want to circle as well. This is a big year upcoming for Roma. Dunes A maybe starts a little bit slow as that offense finds its footing, but lots of opportunity for him to catch a ton of passes this year.
Jason McIntyre
Did I hear you correctly? He's the best receiver? You think he's better than DJ Moore right now?
Alex Curry
I think he will be the Bears wide receiver number one this year.
Jason McIntyre
That's spicy. All right, your final one involves a guy we talked about earlier, Jared Goff. Listen, we're not bullish on the Lions in these waters. Sounds like you're not either.
Alex Curry
Yeah, I have win totals under on the Lions were one of the first bets I made this spring when all those numbers were posted. And I think about Jared Goff and the support that he's received really the last decade after his first year with Jeff Fisher leading that Rams team. He's had Sean McVay in his ear for several seasons and then he had Ben Johnson in his ear for several seasons in the transition to Detroit. You're talking about a quarterback who has a very storied history of needing help pre snap. Lots of documented analysis, commentary about how much help he receives pre snap before that communication cuts off with 15 seconds to go. And he's had two of the best in the business guiding him through not only play calling, but reading at the line of scrimmage setting up plays. I know the Lions still have a ton of pieces, but this is really a big departure from having an elite play caller alongside of him. A lot of brain power to replace for this Lions coaching staff. I think when you're looking at his passing yards total, it's 3,875 and a half yards. I would happily go under that if you're still seeing that price again. Have Lions win totals under at 10 and a half as well.
Jason McIntyre
We must. We're contractually obligated to talk Kansas City Chiefs because of Taylor Swift, Patrick Mahomes, blah, blah, blah. I don't know, is it crazy to do one of these? Missed the BET playoffs on the Chiefs? You could say yes. I don't mind because Albert Breer came on earlier and said, listen, this offense, if the wide receivers are healthy, could be better than last year. And they had Pacheco kind of banged up last year. I don't personally see it, but there's a. I mean, hell, anything's possible, right?
Alex Curry
Well, this is the first year in what, three or four that the Chiefs have gone into a season with returning wide receivers and I was just reading something that came out of training sessions that the Chiefs had a couple of days ago and Patrick Mahomes was talking about how this is not learning the playbook. This is not relying on rookies this season to come in and learn formations and learn snap counts and learn cadence and learn where to line up. They're talking about guys in the huddle between the three wide receivers getting angry at each other because they want to be the one that's featured catching these passes in practice because everybody knows where to go and knows where to line up and everything is familiar. So this season in this offseason so far has been about expanding the playbook and expanding roles, which is very different than the last. It seems like a very long time. We've talked about the Chiefs every season. Who's going to be the number one? How are they going to get these young guys involved? That's not the case this year. So I don't know how anybody can comfortably have lower expectations on the Chiefs this year, especially the offense. I think there's a very high ceiling with Mahomes and all these guys returning to, again, like Mahomes said the other day, expand on the playbook and improve. So I wouldn't be betting on them to miss the playoffs. I think that's just off season hyperbole that we see a ton every single year. I think the Chiefs offense can be pretty scary this year.
Jason McIntyre
Interesting. Chiefs fans will love to hear that. I mean, more Kansas City Chiefs. Adam, that's what we did. All right, we got a minute left. I will wrap up with a Jets question because you are somehow a Jets fan. Mr. Canada, jets fan. I'm not bullish on this year. I'm actually thinking if they bought him out, it's a good quarterback class. Supposedly next year. I don't know. 5, 6 wins is not the end of the world. We haven't made the playoffs in forever. What's the rush now your thought on the jets macro big picture this year?
Alex Curry
I think it's a great reset year. I'm happy that we've seen Glenn take the approach that everything just needs to be quiet this offseason. I think the roster still has a lot of very good pieces that could make them a very sneaky bet week to week, especially early in the season. But yeah, like you said, I think if they get out of this with six wins, a high draft pick next year, they're able to stabilize this new coaching staff. It's a step in the right direction. Anything more than that would be a very pleasant surprise for me personally. But I think they're probably a sneaky week to week underdog to be backing early on in the season in September.
Jason McIntyre
Wait a minute. Wait. I'm sorry. You will be betting the jets week to week or is that maybe they're gonna.
Alex Curry
They're gonna have inflated point spreads and there's still again, a lot of talent on this team. Huh? You're giving me some bigger numbers against some. Some hyped up competition. I think they're going to be a pretty good bet early on. Wow.
Jason McIntyre
I think they'll move the Steelers.
Alex Curry
Not saying they're going to go out and win and shock the world, but they're going to be more competitive than I think people think.
Jason McIntyre
The opener against the Steelers at two and a half or three. You like in the jets there?
Alex Curry
I. I am. I will. We'll see what that number gets to with some Steelers hype, but absolutely.
Jason McIntyre
Okay. All right. Adam, turn off. You got to listen to his podcast, the Simple Handicap. It's great on gambling. Adam, good stuff. We'll talk to you probably in August right before the season when your thoughts are crystallized and the bets are all over the board. Thanks, man.
Alex Curry
Awesome. Looking forward to it. Enjoy the rest of the summer.
Jason McIntyre
All right. You too. Adam, turn off. Really good stuff. Boy. I just, I got a little excited there, Alex. I mean, he's gonna be betting jets week to week, baby. Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
You've tempered your expectations on I'm out. I will give you that. You have done a great job of not getting overexcited. I think you're. Because you did with Rogers got let down. But he's right. Like there is a lot of good new.
Jason McIntyre
It's like when you get hyped for like a date.
Colin Cowherd
You're like, oh, expectations. And then you get excited under promise, over deliver.
Jason McIntyre
Yes. That's the strat. Really. I'm just. I'm out here teaching. All right. Good show. Thanks to Mangini Chernoff, Albert Brer Buha. Can the Lakers go out and get Bradley Beal, please? Just do it.
Colin Cowherd
Come on.
LeVar Arrington

Podcast Summary: The Herd with Colin Cowherd - Hour 3: NFL Expectations
Release Date: July 10, 2025
Host/Authors: iHeartPodcasts and The Volume
Description: The Herd with Colin Cowherd offers a thought-provoking, opinionated, and topic-driven exploration of the top sports stories each day. In this episode, titled "Hour 3 - NFL Expectations," Colin Cowherd delves deep into the upcoming NFL season, analyzing team dynamics, coaching changes, player performances, and betting insights.
Hosts: Colin Cowherd, Jason McIntyre, Eric Mangini
The episode kicks off with a discussion about the Dallas Cowboys' recent hiring of Brian Schottenheimer as their offensive coordinator. Former Jets head coach Eric Mangini shares his insights into Schottenheimer's qualifications and potential impact on the team.
Mangini emphasizes Schottenheimer's blend of conviction and openness to innovation, highlighting his experience and football lineage as key strengths.
Key Points:
Brian Schottenheimer's Appointment: Contrary to typical Cowboys hires seeking high-profile names, Schottenheimer brings a seasoned and thoughtful approach.
Offensive Philosophy: Incorporation of elements from his previous tenure with the San Diego Chargers, focusing on shifting, motioning, and multiple formations to enhance creativity and unpredictability in the offense.
Jason McIntyre [06:28]: “With strong personalities like Pickens, CD Lamb, and Micah Parsons, managing the team’s dynamics will be challenging for a first-time head coach like Schottenheimer.”
Mangini reassures that Schottenheimer's ability to relate to players, especially quarterbacks, and his partnership with defensive coordinator Matt Eberfluous, who has a proven track record in Chicago, will be pivotal in navigating the team's strong personalities and high expectations.
Discussion with Eric Mangini:
New Coaching Staff: Aaron Glenn steps in as the Jets' first-time head coach, bringing a mix of inexperience and fresh ideas.
Magnini [08:03]: “Aaron has gone through the process from scout to personnel to assistant coordinator. His journey as a player brings invaluable experience.”
Justin Fields' Potential: Fields is seen as a key player with improving statistics, and there's cautious optimism about his ability to lead the team effectively.
Jason McIntyre [07:29]: “With a new offensive coordinator and a promising quarterback like Justin Fields, there's potential for a breakout season, albeit with realistic expectations.”
Mangini highlights the balance between youth and experience in the Jets' roster, suggesting that while the team might not dominate, there is room for growth and surprises.
Key Insights:
Travis Kelce's Season Performance: Despite high expectations, Kelce's production this season has been satisfactory but not stellar, raising questions about his future with the Chiefs.
Eric Mangini [10:22]: “Travis had 96 catches last season, but the touchdowns were lower than desired. However, his recent low-key approach promises better focus and performance.”
Mangini discusses Kelce's off-season activities, including media engagements like his TV show and podcast, which might have impacted his on-field performance. He remains optimistic about Kelce's ability to recalibrate and enhance his productivity.
Guest: Adam Chernoff, NFL Gambling Analyst
Jason McIntyre introduces Adam Chernoff to discuss NFL betting trends and season-long wagers.
Trevor Lawrence to Lead the League in Touchdowns [32:10]:
Chernoff believes that Lawrence's improved offensive line and supportive coaching will propel him to new heights, making this a high-value yet potentially controversial bet.
Roma Dunze as the Bears' Top Wide Receiver [34:23]:
Chernoff emphasizes the Bears' offensive overhaul and Dunze's potential to capitalize on new playcalling strategies.
Jared Goff's Passing Yards [35:49]:
Chernoff points out that without the elite playcalling support Goff previously enjoyed, his performance might plateau.
a. Los Angeles Dodgers: A Brief Detour into Baseball
While primarily an NFL-focused episode, there's a segment discussing the Dodgers' recent struggles despite having the best record in the National League.
Cowherd reassures baseball fans that the Dodgers' current performance dip is a normal part of the season's ebb and flow, with several players nearing returns from injury potentially boosting performance post-All-Star break.
b. Las Vegas Raiders: Pete Carroll's Cultural Shift
Jason McIntyre probes whether Carroll's comment about "not fake energy" is a critique of previous management styles, to which Cowherd affirms Carroll's authenticity and experience are exactly what the Raiders need.
Discussion Points:
Chiefs' Offensive Potential: With returning wide receivers and an expanded playbook, Chernoff does not foresee the Chiefs missing the playoffs, countering off-season pessimism.
Jets as a Betting Underdog: Despite a revised outlook, Chernoff sees the Jets as a viable week-to-week bet early in the season due to their underestimation and new coaching dynamics.
The episode wraps up with a recap of key insights and a nod to upcoming topics, including more detailed betting strategies and further team analyses.
Colin Cowherd emphasizes maintaining realistic expectations while staying open to surprises as the NFL season progresses.
Eric Mangini [04:11]: “Brian has conviction, but he's also willing to hear people out and incorporate new ideas and to try to innovate. And to me, that's an undervalued asset for any head coach.”
Jason McIntyre [07:29]: “With a new offensive coordinator and a promising quarterback like Justin Fields, there's potential for a breakout season, albeit with realistic expectations.”
Eric Mangini [10:22]: “Travis had 96 catches last season, but the touchdowns were lower than desired. However, his recent low-key approach promises better focus and performance.”
Alex Curry [34:23]: “Roma Dunze is set to be the Bears' leading receiver with over 1,000 receiving yards at +175. Despite a challenging previous season, Dunze's breakout is imminent.”
Colin Cowherd [23:02]: “Pete Carroll is instilling genuine energy and a winning culture in the Raiders. Despite the challenging division, Carroll’s leadership is fostering positive changes within the team.”
