Find your local station for the herd@foxsportsradio.com or stream us live every day on the iHeartRadio app by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR. Now, let's get this party started. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. We have a Major League Baseball trading deadline and you know, it's interesting. J. Mac, so you're significantly younger than me. What is your sports relationship with mj? I can remember sitting on a couch watching the Suns and the Bulls and telling somebody, he is so much better than the second best player in this league. And I did feel that with LeBron for about 10 years and I felt it with Jordan. Were you a huge. You were a Knicks fan, so you didn't like him, right?
Colin Cowherd
Okay, thank a. Thank you for asking me. I heard this rant and I'm just like, what is he talking? I totally disagree with it. Like, I get nostalgia, okay? I like to think back, oh man, remember that summer me and my buddies didn't have a job and we just, it was that most epic summer ever. We text about this sometimes, but that's not the reality. The reality is now the present. And I feel like this nostalgia for Jordan just keeps getting better. When the reality was, yeah, I thought he was really, really good. Obviously the best player in the league. But Colin, like they were beating weak teams. Larry was cooked, Magic was cooked. Isaiah Thomas left early. All the best players had gone. And so in the 90s, I always thought, yeah, my Knicks have a chance. I did not like Jordan. I respected him, but I didn't like Larry Bird. I respected him. I didn't like Tom Brady as a quarterback, as a Jets fan, but I respected him. I just think this love affair with Jordan is just so strange. We don't see it in the NFL. Joe Montana, nobody acts like this about Joe Montana when the Tom Brady. We don't hear it.
Jay Mac
Jordan was the best player ever. He was the most dynamic player ever. He was the best trust player. He was a college star. LeBron didn't play. We didn't follow LeBron until he showed up.
Colin Cowherd
Title. And what do you do the next couple years? So a college Star. I mean, James Worthy was the best guy on his team when he won the championship.
Jay Mac
No, James Worthy acknowledges after four practices, and James was an NBA prospect. He acknowledged by, like the fourth practice, Michael was better than him and James Worthy's a Hall of Famer.
Colin Cowherd
More upside. I mean, Worthy was the guy on the team. But. Okay, I digress. Go ahead.
Jay Mac
So the point being is Michael was a collection of many things. He was the best player. His game was incredibly memorable. It was pre social media. So he was a little bit of an enigma. He had some mystery. He had the coolest shoes. He had the best advertising campaign. He was 6 for 6 in the finals. And again, when. When you bounce around the league to multiple teams, part of Derek Jeter and Kobe Bryant's appeal, Yankees and Lakers, and that is it. Part of the lack of appeal for Kevin Durant. He's bounced around the league. So like, like, like that there is something to be said about dealing with the duress and the turbulence of getting beat up. And we all watch the story, and then when you win, we're part of your jersey. There's a love affair with Jordan. I don't think it's just tradition. Michael was the coolest, the most clutch, the best. And I mean there. If you go ask Phil Jackson privately about the two, he's like, guys, it's Michael. If you go ask yourself, look at how many players are critical of LeBron James career. Michael is held in reverence.
Colin Cowherd
They were like 12 years old when Jordan was dominating. But one other point, Colin, mid-90s, the Dallas Cowboys dominate the NFL. They become America's team. They were not America's team in the 80s. What else happened in the mid-90s? Michael Jordan became the greatest ever and the Internet emerged. And I really do believe, Colin, the Internet tying fans everywhere together and the ability to watch stuff online. Go, go on these. All these websites, I think that contributed to this nostalgia because essentially everything changed in the mid-90s with the Internet. And we keep coming back to the Cowboys. What have they won, by the way, in the last 25 years? What have the Bulls won? Nothing at all. Yet there's still this nostalgia for the Cowboys and the Chicago Bulls because of Jordan and what Dallas did in the mid-90s.
Jay Mac
But the truth is, there's a bunch of people who were big in the 90s that aren't big today. The two that are Michael, the greatest player ever and the Cowboys, one of the great dynasties of all time. There's hundreds of things that were big in the 90s that sports teams that aren't big today.
Colin Cowherd
Well, I remember my Yankees stunk in the 80s and of course, like you said, Derek Jeter pops up and guess who starts absolutely dominating the Yankees mid-90s, mid-90s was Yankees, Bulls and Jordan and, and the Dallas Cowboys. They absolutely dominated. And here we are 25 years later, still talking about all three.
Jay Mac
Well, maybe they're arguably three of the great teams ever.
Colin Cowherd
That's possible.
Jay Mac
Possible.
Colin Cowherd

And found the strength to make it to the other side. My dad was shot and killed in his house. Yes, he was a drug dealer. Yes, he was a confidential informant. But he wasn't shot on a street corner. He wasn't shot in the middle of a drug deal. He was shot in his house.

Yankees picked up a third baseman, Ryan McMahon, who was an all star last year. He has struggled. This year he was leading baseball in strikeouts. But the Yankees have had all sorts of issues with their fielding and he's considered an above average fielder at third base. They gave up some pitching prospects, Adam Wainwright around the corner. Here's J. Mac with the news.
Colin Cowherd
No, no, no, turn on the news. This is the Herd line news. All right, Colin, you know, final hour of the week, we got to go to Aaron Rodgers. When in doubt, you got to lean on AR Rodgers. Obviously, his first pass at camp was intercepted in Pittsburgh. He's also getting to know his new number one option, DK Metcalf. Apparently they're suite mates at training camp. But Rogers latest prediction on super bowl contenders tells me he might be back on ayahuasca. Take a listen.
Jay Mac
I think that, you know, there's really only six to eight that really have a legitimate chance. Sometimes it's 10 to 12 and there's teams that surprise you, but I would say on paper, we're probably one of those 10 to 12. I think it's coming together, you know, times like this with these 17 or so practices that we have here and finding the chemistry and hanging out with each other in the lunchroom and snack and the different times that we have and, you know, growing together through our practice.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, yeah. Super bowl contender Pittsburgh. Yes. No, maybe so, no.
Jay Mac
Again, remember, quarterbacks over 40 have won 12 playoff games, 10 by birth.
Colin Cowherd
Brady. So technically they're tied for 15th in Super bowl odds. I actually would bet. You know, you could go in Vegas. You could bet. Yes. No. Will they make the playoffs? I would bet Pittsburgh.
Jay Mac
No, for sure. How, how does. Yeah, I mean that, that's. I don't know. I mean Denver. Yeah, I mean, I, I don't disagree with any of those odds. Nothing there for our radio audience. The super bowl odds are Bills, Ravens, Eagles, Chiefs, Lions. I aren't as great, but they're still really good. Commanders, Niners, packers is a little high for me. Rams tied for ninth, a little low. Bengals, Bucks, Vikings are. I'd put the Chargers ahead of the Vikings for sure, but the Broncos ahead of the Vikings for sure. I like the. I talked to somebody in regards to the Vikings yesterday. Love the offensive roster, but they don't, they don't know. Yeah, they don't know what they have. With J.J. mcCarthy. They, it was a lost rookie year. They made him travel with a team. At one point he got down to £175 like it was, it was very choppy. They kept most of it out of the news. The Vikings have no idea what they had with J.J. mcCarthy until week one.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah. Just to let the audience know how big of a story this is, Cowherd actually called me Yesterday with some JJ McCarthy updates. It had gave me pause, I'm not gonna lie. So anyways, let's go to another team in the nfc. How about this, Colin? This is my sleeper in the nfc. Michael Penix in the Atlanta Falcons. Penix will be the starter. He sat for most of the season before playing at the tail end when Kirk Cousins was cooked. Anyway, Pennix has high hopes for the Falcons offense and so do I. Here's. Take a listen.
Jay Mac
We should be the best in the league. You know, with the guys we got around us, we should be unstoppable. So that's, that's our goal. We want to be number one in all the categories. On the opposite side of the ball. Well, I, I will say a majority of their talent is on the offensive side of the ball. So they should be good. I mean, they've, they've got real players. I like both their backs, obviously. Bijan Robinson special. Drake London's great. I mean, Kyle Pitts has never lived up to it, but it's, it is a more than capable offense, no question.
Colin Cowherd
It's interesting you mentioned Pitts. So again, once I start doing these previews, I'M reading everything. I'm trying to watch actual clips of these guys at the podium. Colin, a little thing I picked up on Penix, he keeps hyping Kyle Pitts and I'm like, what's going on there? Does he really like him? I know what it is. Kyle Pitts was so bad the last couple of years, everybody's down on him that Michael Penix is trying to pump him up. I think he's trying to elevate Pitts, get his confidence back. They're going to need him. But Pitts, man, remember, he was like going in for a touchdown and held the football out and it got knocked out of his hand. It was almost like a touchback. He's just had so many mental mistakes.
Jay Mac
Yeah, mental mistakes. And there are people that say, and I don't know him, but there are people that say he doesn't have a hunger, he doesn't love the game. Tony Gonzalez, years ago was sitting on the couch and I remember asking Tony, I said, what percentage of guys love the game? And Tony Gonzalez said, 3%. Oh, I mean, he was in the locker rooms, he's like, love the game. Think about the game. Can't wait for the season to start. He goes, it's really low. And the knock on Kyle Pitts is. Doesn't love the game. By the way, there's no. Football's hard. Football practice is hard. You know, I remember as a kid, basketball practice is the best. Baseball is great. You're taking ground balls, you're in the cage. Football practice, and I was the quarterback.
Colin Cowherd
It's no fun, little flex.
Jay Mac
I wasn't good. But it's like. So I like. Like you can weed out players pretty quickly on their desire and they're. And they're really their obsession. The great ones are upset. Jay Glazer always says that. The great football players, there's no. There's no outliers in it. The great ones are all obsessed with. Aaron Donald was obsessed with working out. That's why he was Aaron Donald.
Colin Cowherd
Final story. Colin is your boy. Baker Mayfield. He's had a career resurgence since landing in Tampa. I mean, two years where he's been fantastic. Well, Tampa GM Jason Light sounds like he wants Baker around for the long haul, saying, I love Baker. I love everything he's done for us. The goal for us, for Baker is to continue to be the player that he is. At some point, we reach an extension when the time is right and he continues to be our QB for a long time. That's the.
Jay Mac
The goal.
Colin Cowherd
Listen, there's no. No denying it. Baker, in two years in Tampa, has been one of the seven best quarterbacks in the league. I know Chiefs fans don't want to hear this. In the last two seasons, Baker has at times largely outplayed Patrick Mahomes. I saw your boy Cosell was even saying Mahomes was one of the worst deep ball throwers last year in the league. Baker one of the better ones.
Jay Mac
So that's funny.
Colin Cowherd
It's just too simple.
Jay Mac
Forget this. They forget how young Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold are. Baker's 30 years old. For an NFL quarterback, your prime is like 20 because you come into the league at 23. Your prime is like 25 to 32.
Colin Cowherd
At quarterback.
Jay Mac
Yeah. Quarterback. You're not. You're not defensive.
Colin Cowherd
That seems.
Jay Mac
Well, yeah. You come into the sport at 23.
Angela Rai
Yeah.
Jay Mac
So you two like Bo Nix, 61 college starts. He'll probably be in his prime next year. Year three, because Bo comes in with all that work. So your rookie year, then your second year, and then Patrick Mahomes said the light goes on. Year three, everything slows down. So, you know, my take is I think he's right in the middle of his prime. It feels like he's older because he's bounced around the league and he's been such a noteworthy player since he was a Heisman winner at college. But the truth is Baker's right in the middle of his prime. So I would keep. I had no. There was a list that came out two weeks ago and people, the execs in the league had him like 10 or something. I probably have him 11, but I don't have a problem. I think it's. Sometimes he can get. When you hurry him up, like Darnold, like Geno Smith, Baker can get a little reckless, but he's got. When he has time to throw, he's. And they have good running backs, J. Mac. They have a good run game. He can let it rip with the best of them. Jay mcle News well, that's the news.
Colin Cowherd
And thanks for stopping by the Herd lie news.
Jay Mac
By the way, Nick Saban was on Fox News. And yes, I know Steve Sarkeesian was kind of poking fun at me yesterday, saying I asked him if Saban would go to the NFL and he said, well, you've already got him there. You've already got him with Arch Manning. But Saban was asked about coaching in the NFL and here was his response. There is no opportunity that I know of right now that I would enhance me to go back to Coaching right now. That's not definitive. Yes, no, never. Absolutely not are definitive. That is sort of the classic parsing of words. Not right now. Like I said before, I. I'm not hungry right now. I will eat at some point later today. Right now is not then or later. It's. Well, right now. I think a lot of things right now. Here was Dave Wanstadt earlier. If Nick Saban could possibly return to.
Dave Wanstadt
The NFL, he would take the phone call. Just because, you know, everybody wants to be wanted. Everybody wants to, you know, and I speak from Jimmy, I mean I'm not get into the teams. But even when Jimmy was into Fox several years, okay, when he was done with it all that he called me one time in particular and was offered so much money to run the whole thing, coach, gm, everything with the team and he took the call, you know, but obviously he didn't have any interest in doing it. So I think that's where Nick's are at right now.
Jay Mac
I mean right now is circumstantial. I mean Sean McVay loved coaching, thought about leaving for Amazon prime to do games and now he recently said he's committed to coaching for years to come. So there, there is a burnout factor with the NFL. But Jim Harbaugh, it didn't end the way Jim Harbaugh wanted it to end and he could have stayed at Michigan for a long time. You won that Natty boom. Justin Herbert's available. I'm just saying, if Arch Manning is available and the Saints draft him, Nick coast at lsu, you're taking the call and you know, I think Gail Benson still owns a franchise, you know, they would, they would pay top dollar. I'm going to tell you something, a Manning, I'm almost rooting for that. I want to see Arch Manning play for the Saints. Would that be great or what? That would be unbelievable. Full circle. Arch plays there. Peyton to the Colts and Broncos, Eli to the Giants. Arch goes to the. That would be an unbelievable story. Let's all collectively root for that. Would that be crazy? How good would that be? Think about this. Just think about this. J. Mac. I mean, part of it, it's the NFL. It's crazy. But almost all the good teams are small markets. Philadelphia is not obviously, but it's a lot of Green Bay, it's a lot of Kansas City, Baltimore, Buffalo. It's a lot of that. Can you imagine if Arch Manning went to the Saints and they have a 15 year run like New Orleans had Breeze and Payton, another small market. Like in a weird way that's why whenever I hear about the NFL rig, are you kidding me? It's dominated the big markets until last year. D.C. was bad for 15 years. Atlanta's never wins consistently. The New York teams are a mess. Chicago's a mess. I mean the big markets. Houston forever was a joke. Dallas now is not what they used to be. Philadelphia is one of the only consistently in la. Rams consistently big markets that are good. Philly and the Rams. It is a league dominated by small markets. Can you imagine the Saints getting Arch Manning? That is unbelievable.
Colin Cowherd
I mean, listen, it would be good to get another good quarterback in the NFC obviously. But no, I want him on my Jets. I don't want them on the Saints.
Jay Mac
By the way, before we go to tomorrow's headlines today, I do want to play a bite for those that missed it, Caleb Williams struggled today again at practice. Two red zone picks. Dave Wonstadt made a really good point. Watts that coached the Bears years ago, he knows the organization well. Here is Dave Wonstadt on why Caleb could be struggling.
Dave Wanstadt
We would go through training camp and let's say we were struggling running the football. We would say, well, it's just preseason, it's just a training camp. Those things usually do show up once you start playing for real. And I would just say this, Caleb, keep in mind, last year at training camp, he, he was a guy that had a tough time getting a snap because he was never up under center. I mean this is how primitive the whole pro passing game under center play action pass was to this kid. By that I mean it's 1, 2, 3, the ball's coming out now. You got to get it obviously to the right person or it might be five steps. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. And everything is tied together from the line protection to the receiver routes and the quarterback.
Jay Mac
This is a great point. Everything in Ben Johnson's offense. This is like Kyle Shanahan is timing and those coaches like their quarterbacks to be under center. Caleb Williams would prefer to be in the shotgun, so that is part of the timing issues. A great point by Dave Wanstadt tomorrow. Headlines Today to wrap up a Friday next.
Colin Cowherd

We're going to talk about the adultification of black girls mothering as resistance and the tools we use for healing. The Unwanted Sorority is a safe space, not a quiet space. So let's lock in. We're moving towards liberation together. Listen to the Unwanted Sorority. New episodes every Thursday on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Good stuff for Dave Wanstadt today on Caleb Williams. So we had a fun week. It was Big Ten media week. So we brought Sark on and Ryan Day of the Buckeyes on. James Franklin of Penn State came on. Lincoln Riley came on. So we, we went out and took a big swing on the coaches and a lot of fun. I and I and I've said this before, the SEC is always going to be powerful because they have such great passion. There's a lot of great high school football programs in the South. There's a lot of good coaches and a lot of money. But it does feel like between Phil Knight's money coming in from Oregon. Huskies have money. Not, not, not Ohio State money, but the Huskies in Seattle, it's a big market, a lot of tech. Microsoft, Starbucks, they got money and USC's nil. I can tell you this is up to 18 million a year. They also paid 300 million for new facilities. So LA is. I mean, they're the nil money. Lincoln told me off the air yesterday. It's coming porn in now. So there's just. And you gotta remember, you got Seattle market and Chicago and New York and LA and Seattle, those are just bigger markets. The SEC's got much smaller markets. They've got Atlanta, but it's a lot of Starksville and Oxfords and Knoxvilles. And I've said this before, you know, in the South, a car dealer, a big car dealer, that's a lot of money. And by the way, it's a lot of money relative to the rest of the country. But the Big Ten right now, those nil, and they're going to get Notre Dame eventually to come to that conference. Those Big Ten schools are massive. They got 30, 40, 50,000 students. And that means you flush a lot of graduates out into the workforce, and a lot of them come back and still go to the games and give money. So there was always an understanding that through the churches, the SEC was greasing some palms. But once everybody could pay, there's a lot of money in the Big Ten, especially now that the big money programs, Oregon, Washington and usc, those are the big money programs. They've all moved into the Big Ten. They didn't take Oregon State and Washington State. They didn't take Arizona. They took Seattle and the Huskies, usc, ucla, that's where the money is in the program and Phil Knight's money. So all of a sudden, the Big Ten has been infused with major markets, major finance and major nil players. And I think the conferences, I think they're better now than the SEC at the top. Michigan, Natty, Ohio State, Natty. And I think Penn State's playing for it and possibly winning it. I just want to see how good Arch Manning is. All right, the former newspaper guy. We call it Tomorrow's Headlines today. And because of all the Big Ten media and the college football talk, that's going to be our theme today from J. Mac. So let's start it off. Tomorrow's headlines today. How about the headline for Notre Dame, the Fighting Irish, J. Mac.
Colin Cowherd
This season we have SEC media day, Big Ten media. We got. We got to get Freeman on the show. I mean, there's a guy we thought was ticketed for Chicago. I like Notre Dame. The headline for the Fighting Irish this season will B. All washed up. No Irish Spring back and scrub the past. Yes, I like Notre Dame. Back to the playoff. Colin, there's a lot to like about this team. I mean, starting with Jeremiah Love. I mean, I like stuff. Jeremiah Love. They're talking about him being in the same category for the draft next year as Bijan Robinson and Ashton Genty. Like a top 15 guy. Jeremiah Love is a superstar waiting to happen. I mean, the Irish return, I think six starters on offense. Obviously your boy, as you see on the screen there, Riley Leonard is gone. But they're going to be very, very good. Obviously the schedule, you know, it's front loaded. Colin, I wrote it down here. They got to travel to Miami and face Carson Beck.
Jay Mac
That's not a layup, that's a win.
Colin Cowherd
You sure? Yeah, Miami's pretty good. They got a. They host Texas A and M. Hopefully a win there at Arkansas is a tricky one going into SEC country. And then of course, the game you tried to squash. Notre Dame plays usc. So I like this team a lot. Six starters back on defense. I have Notre Dame back in the playoff. I don't know if you agree with me or not.
Jay Mac
Well, I think Marcus Freeman is the best recruiter they have had there since Lou Holtz in his prime. Oh, I think he is a. I think Marcus Freeman, Brian Kelly, I think he's a better recruiter. I think he's got more energy, more youth. He's very relatable. I think he's the best recruiter they've had since. Lou Holtz was a great recruiter. I mean, he was a great motivational speaker. Marcus Freeman can flat out recruit and I've been told that by coaches on the trail. Dude can flat out connect with kids. So Notre Dame's in a good space. Tomorrow's headlines today. How about the Buckeyes? What's the headline?
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, it is a tough one because obviously coming off the national championship, they have the huge season opener against Texas here on Fox. I like Ohio State, but. But the headline for the Buckeyes this season will be the Franklin minted, gritty Nittany Investment lowers value of the buck as in Buckeyes. I think Ohio State is just a smidge worse than Penn State in the Big Ten. Colin. And listen, there's a lot to like, obviously about the Buckeyes. I think they do take care of Arch Manning and Texas in the opener at home. They have, I think, the best player in the country. And Smith, I like downs a lot. I just. It's really difficult to repeat. Everybody's got them for you. Penn State's just a little better than Ohio State. So I have the Buckeyes losing in the national championship to. To Penn State and an all Big Ten Natty. Now that's a little bit out there. I'm sure you'll disagree. I do like the Buckeyes, by the way.
Jay Mac
That will cement my take that the Big Ten is better than the sec. If you get Penn State and Ohio State and the Natty.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, I mean, I just don't see the SEC team. That really terrifies me. I like Georgia's schedule, but a lot of questions about Stockton, the quarterback, and I don't see it with Alabama this year. So I've got Ohio State going to the national championship.
Jay Mac
Tomorrow's headlines today. Okay, what will be this season's College Football Playoff? I'm interested. Dark horse. Who? Like last year it was the Indiana Hoosiers.
Colin Cowherd
That's right.
Jay Mac
Yeah, that's right.
Colin Cowherd
So last, maybe last month or two months ago, remember we, we went on a prediction and you went with Illinois. I believe in the, in the Big Ten. I am going deep into the Big 12. The headline for my sleeper in college football, call Tech support Red Raiders their way into the College Football Playoff. I've got Texas Tech get into the playoff. They're going to be plucky. Colin, if you follow this story, they are like, low key, as the kids say. One of the crazier stories in college football this off season. They hit the portal harder than anybody. I just looked at their depth chart. Eleven new starters, mostly thanks to the portal, that are going to come to Texas Tech. And, and if you look at the schedule, it ain't that hard. They do have to go to Utah and they do have to play at Arizona State. Arizona State's going to be very good again. But I think this Texas Tech team, you spend, you got to spend money to make money. I think they're going to the playoff because they've got such good support coming from the transfer portal. It's good. It's an interesting situation that's brewing because we've seen in the last couple years, if you hit the portal hard in the right way, you can make that leap. Remember Washington a couple years ago? Indiana last year? Like, you can make moves. And I think Texas Tech is on the up and up.
Jay Mac
Yeah, you got to be careful, though. It's got defined line. You don't want 30 new players. Tomorrow's headlines today. Ah, the headline for the Heisman Trophy winner. You're gonna, you're gonna beat everybody to the punch on this.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, well, you know, you look at the odds and you know, like, okay, I don't know about this guy. A lot of questions. You seem bullish. On a certain Arch Manning at Texas, I say no, no way. The headline for the Heisman Trophy will be the Handsman Trophy. Buckeye doesn't bobble the bronze. It's obviously got to be Jeremiah Smith. I mean, Colin, that kid is as a true freshman last year, oh, he was unstoppable, unstoppable. In that playoff run. They just throw up and he was dominant. I mean, go watch that Oregon take game in, in the Rose Bowl. He was unguardable. The guy is super special. Now I know we've seen this with Marvin Harrison Jr. And other wide receivers. He, he's different. He's got the speed, the power, the work ethic. I think Jeremiah Smith, best player in the country. I've got Ohio State's star receiver winning. I mean, look at that speed. I've got him winning the Heisman. I, I don't know who else you could go with. I don't think Arch is a good bet, by the way.
Jay Mac
Yeah, I would. I, I think that's a pretty good. If I had to guess, I'd put him one. Drew Aller, and that's Penn State backfield. Drew Aller is going to put up big numbers at Penn State and he's going to have big high profile games too.
Colin Cowherd
Their running backs are, are very good and they probably will be blowing people out. So I don't know if Aller is going to be throwing a lot in the fourth quarter and have the numbers. Jeremiah Smith's going to be, you know, first quarter, second, third. They're just feeding him. So Aller is probably not the worst bet as second, but I, I like Smith to win.
Jay Mac
Yeah, they have two. And like Ohio State last year, the Nittany Lions have two NFL running backs, Singleton and the other kid. All right, let's a little pivot to pro football. Tomorrow's headlines today we got to give J. Mac one. What is your headline for the beleaguered New York Jess?
Colin Cowherd
So yesterday they come to me, hey, Justin Fields, toe broken toe. Like this is bad news. What if he's out seven weeks and then we see video of him today kind of jogging, not doing all the drills, but it sounds like he's going to be okay. That being said, the headline for my jets this season will be Toe Jammed jets limp into Season needing arch support. Now listen, I'm going to try to speak it into existence because I still remember I'm such a loser when it comes to like football. And watching Colin, I will never forget that Jets Rams game a few years back that cost The Jets. Trevor Lawrence, a meaningless win. I was all excited. I mean, can you imagine Trevor Lawrence in the Big Apple? It should have happened. And they won. That stupid, meaningless game. Had to settle for Zach Wilson. The rest is history. You can't let that happen with Arch Manning. Okay, if Justin Fields is not feeling great, sit out, my friend. We got Tyrod Taylor. And I know nobody wants to tank but Aaron Glenn. Hey, you want a quick rise to the top of coaching? Get Arch Manning next year as your quarterback. And I know there's a lot of questions about him. Jay, he's had two starts. How can you feel so good? Well, I don't know. He's 642-15-15, runs like the wind. And he's related to Peyton and Eli.
Jay Mac
Yeah, he didn't run like Archer Payton. He runs like Archie Manning who played for the Saints. Archie Manning was a great athlete. You know, Peyton and Eli were classic pocket quarterbacks because, you know, their dad probably said, don't run around and get hurt like me. Sit in the pocket and throw. And they also had better teams. Archie Manning, the Saints were horrible. But Arch Manning is very modern. He is a modern quarterback. He can tuck it and run. He's ripped. There's been, I've follow his Instagram, I've seen many a shot. Dude is ripped. Sark told us this week, I said, what's his best trait? He said, unbelievable work ethic. You know, he's smart.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Jay Mac
And it goes back to he's not going to get two speeding tickets his first week with his team. Like, he just, he's just, he's got self awareness. He's just a smart guy.
Colin Cowherd
And you know, listen, I liked Carson Beck at Georgia, but he got so much nil money. There were reports that this guy had like two Lamborghinis. Right. And he's pictured with them. He's got the celebrity girlfriend and all this. And you just felt like he was really enjoying being famous. I don't get that vibe at all from Arch Manning. I mean, he feels kind of grounded. I don't know him personally, never met him, but when you, you see him in interviews, he just looks very humble, like he's gotten the media training. He kind of gets it. Colin.
Jay Mac
Oh, he doesn't kind of get it. He gets it. I mean, I know the Manning family well enough. Classy, smart, thoughtful. Understand. I mean, they could be, they have so much power. But I got to tell you something. Arch Manning to the Saints would be on. Would that be unbelievable? The more I think about that, I'm like, oh, that's perfect for the NFL. That is literally come full circle and have Archie and Arch play for the Saints. And that would be another small market flourishing in the NFL at that point.
Colin Cowherd
Do you fire the coach they just hired or do you just, you know, what do you, what do you do? Like, I mean, Arch Manning to the state. Like, that team is not very good. They're like a five wood. There's not a lot of skill position guys around him. I don't know.
Jay Mac
Yeah, I don't know if you fire the coach. Dennis Allen didn't work. More of a coordinator. I don't know if you do that.
Colin Cowherd
Didn't work as putting it mildly.
Jay Mac
But okay, it's, it's, it's. We are, you know, we're, we're. I will say the, the right teams in college football right now are good. Texas. If you told me what teams need to be good for the sport to be popular, I would pick literally Texas, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan in the northeast. Penn State. I think USC and Oregon out west carry a number.
Colin Cowherd
Georgia.
Jay Mac
Georgia helps, absolutely. But I'm telling you, Notre Dame and Texas are bigger overall brands. They carry a rating. Notre Dame and Texas are probably 1 2. Then Ohio State, Michigan. Next up, NASCAR Craftman truck series qualifying from Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway. Thank you so much for watching us. Good baseball this weekend. Camps are open in the NFL. We'll see. Okay. Have you heard about this? Last year, Degree changed the formula for their Cool Rush deodorant and their fans rebelled and wanted the old scent back. And Degree listens. That doesn't happen often. They admitted they effed up and they're bringing back the original Cool Rush scent. They're bringing it back and it's exactly how you remember it. Cool, crisp and fresh. There's a reason it's the number one men's antiperspirant. And it's back in Walmart, Target and other stores now for under four bucks. So try and see what the fuss is about. Head to your local Walmart or Target to try the OG degree cool rush for yourself.

Timestamp: 03:40 – 07:14
Colin Cowherd and Jay Mac delve into the nostalgic reverence for Michael Jordan compared to contemporary players like LeBron James. Jay Mac emphasizes Jordan's unparalleled legacy:
Jay Mac [04:55]: "Michael was a collection of many things. He was the best player. His game was incredibly memorable. He was pre-social media, so he had some mystery... He was 6 for 6 in the finals."
Colin counters by highlighting the context of Jordan's era, suggesting that the competition wasn't as fierce:
Colin Cowherd [04:16]: "They were beating weak teams... Larry was cooked, Magic was cooked... the best players had gone."
Despite differing views, both acknowledge Jordan's undeniable impact on basketball and popular culture.

Timestamp: 06:28 – 07:52
The conversation shifts to the sustained nostalgia for 90s sports teams, particularly the Chicago Bulls, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Yankees. Jay Mac points out that many iconic teams from the 90s haven't replicated their success in subsequent decades:
Jay Mac [07:14]: "What have they won in the last 25 years? Nothing at all. Yet there's still this nostalgia for the Cowboys and the Chicago Bulls because of Jordan and what Dallas did in the mid-90s."
Colin adds that the Yankees, Bulls, and Cowboys remain subjects of conversation despite their varying degrees of success post-90s:
Colin Cowherd [07:32]: "They absolutely dominated. And here we are 25 years later, still talking about all three."
Both hosts agree that the legacy of these teams continues to influence current sports narratives.

Timestamp: 13:40 – 15:25
Jay Mac brings up the New York Yankees' recent acquisition of Ryan McMahon, highlighting his performance issues:
