Yeah, being a football player with plaque psoriasis can be challenging. My skin gets flaky and itchy, so my doctor told me about a pill, otla.

Steve Covino
Now let's get this party started.
Dallas Goddard
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Colin Cowherd
A surprise, surprise, surprise. Covino and Rich. And for Colin on the Herd, you heard surprise.
Rich Davis
Mosugas Covino, Steve Covino, Elombre Maswampo from Union, New Jersey. That's Rich Davis. He put the square in Franklin Square, Long Island. We joined forces to create the Voltron of radio with Danny G. And what's up Spotty and the whole team. In fact, I'm going to give some shout outs again, Covino and Rich. And for Colin on the Herd live from Media row, Super Bowl 59, New Orleans, Sagar and Elijah, the video team doing a stellar job, Incubus style. Stellar job. You can see at Covino and Rich all The Videos and OX Sports Radio. Check Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. Back at the studio, we got Ryan Burch and perfect. And thank you guys, Fox Sports Radio Nation and everyone who listens to the Herd. We appreciate you guys hanging out with us. Remember, we're still doing Our regular show 5 to 7 on the east, 2 to 4 on the west later today. And you never know who's going to stop by. But it's a pleasure bringing you into the room where it happens. We're here at the convention center. There's a buzz in the air and we're just pumped, man, just to look around. I saw Paige Spranek again.
Colin Cowherd
Don't do that again.
Rich Davis
I saw Bert Kreischer. You know, we're waving at people. We saw Jake Glazer walking by. It's just that Gronk was over there.
Colin Cowherd
It's nice to bump into people on and off the earth.
Rich Davis
It's very, very, very cool to be here.
Colin Cowherd
Now listen, earlier today caught up with a really good dude. And when I say really good dude, I assumed we'd have a fun Time talking to him. But Vince Wilfork, a guy that's been to four Super Bowls, one of the greatest defensive players of our lifetime. New England Patriot, we loved him and we want you to hear it. So this is our hang earlier today with Vince Wilfork on the herd. Covino and Rich.
Rich Davis
It's Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. We are joined by two time Super bowl champion, 516 tackles. One of the greatest nose tackles of all time, Vince Will for intro.
Colin Cowherd
Huh?
Steve Covino
What's going on? That's pretty cool.
Rich Davis
You like that?
Steve Covino
I feel good.
Rich Davis
Nice.
Steve Covino
You should man with you guys.
Rich Davis
Yeah, man, looking good too.
Steve Covino
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Rich Davis
You know, I'm looking at your stats and again, 516 tackles, one defensive TD. Do you still think about that one? Tell us about that one, man.
Steve Covino
That one. I fell on the ball in the end zone. But still, yeah, it's a touchdown. It goes down in touchdown, right? Yeah, that's what it was. I mean, I was on the bottom of the pile and it took about five minutes for everybody to get off me.
Rich Davis
Is that scary, man, where you're the guy underneath.
Steve Covino
But you know what? I never thought about it. When I was up underneath there, I was like. Because, you know, got the face mask and I was just face down, like, oh. And I'm telling everybody I got the ball, Will fork. Got the ball. Got the ball. I was just having fun and making jokes about it, but I got the ball, ref. I got the ball, Will for it.
Colin Cowherd
That scares, that scares the hell out of. I mean, if you're claustrophobic at all and all those big dudes are piled on you, that's not a fun moment. I mean, you got to touch them. But yeah, those moments being under the pile, not fun.
Steve Covino
But the thing is if you, if you under the pile, be face down, right? Don't, don't, don't face up like no, you know, like that. Now that would have creeped me out, right? Yeah, that face down. I couldn't see nothing but the ground.
Colin Cowherd
Other grown ass man on top.
Rich Davis
Yeah, yeah. But you trying to figure out, am I in the end zone?
Steve Covino
Yeah, yeah, I don't know. But I got the ball. I got the ball.
Colin Cowherd
By the way, Vince Wilfor no stranger to this week, super bowl week, I gotta ask, at the highs and lows of a Super bowl, when you win or when you lose, because of the games you've been in, they're all close. Like you're on the sideline thinking, oh crap, the Seahawks got us. You win you're on the sideline thinking, we got the Giants, they win. Like how. How are those emotions?
Steve Covino
Well, during the game, you just locked in, you know, even a Seattle game, it's like we. I always thought we had a shot in every game we played, no matter what it looked like because of 12 and because of Bill Belichick. Right. Because. So I'll. I, you know, always thought that way. So that Seattle game, like them marching and all that stuff, it really done didn't dawn on me that we was going to lose the game. Like it is what it is. Because my mind said, okay, okay, worst can happen to us. They score, we get a ball back to Tom and he gonna do what he got to do in two minutes. Because, mind you, Tom torched him up, what, over 350 yards passing the game.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Steve Covino
So I wasn't worried about that. So when you're in it, you don't really think about it. It's just like being in battle where no matter what's going on around, you have a job to do. You don't got. You have to stay locked in and stay focused in what you're doing because anything is possible. Right. And Malcolm end up making that play, you know?
Colin Cowherd
And do you love him forever because of that play? Like, you gotta love him.
Steve Covino
That's a great, That's a great football play. Like, hey, you just have to chalk that up because 10 out of 10 times it's incomplete. Right. You know, it's an incomplete ball, but for some reason, man, a good man was on our side without a hell of a catch and hell of a. Just a hell of a football play. And guess what? I was on the opposite end of that with the helmet catch.
Rich Davis
Yep.
Steve Covino
And with the, the. The. The scene route. No, the, the. The. The route that I think many him against Eli. Third and long, backed up on the sideline, cover two. Perfect ball right on sideline. So I was. Trust me, I had it twice who I lost and two I won. So it says you have to take it and you have to just chalk it up to a good football player. And those plays, like that helmet catch, I mean, it is what it is, like 10 out of 10 times incomplete, right?
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Steve Covino
You know, but that pass on the side, like that many through to many hand, whatever that was. Cover two, perfect thrown ball, perfect coverage, perfect catch, perfect location.
Rich Davis
Vince Wolfork, let's talk about the two wins again. You were with the Patriots from 04 to 2014, then the Texans after that. What was the difference in super bowl wins? I think you and Brady were the only two to win in 04 and 14. Two different decades. So what were the difference in wins, One earlier in your career, one later in your career?
Steve Covino
Well, I think the difference was one, I was a rookie, and one, I was a veteran. You know, rookie year. I basically came in. Yeah, I played and all of that stuff, but that really wasn't my defense or my team. You know, I was. You know, I wasn't that. You know, I had others in front of me. I was waiting my time. Now, my last one, that was my team.
Rich Davis
Did you not feel as part of it, though, looking back?
Steve Covino
Yeah, because, I mean, I was a young bug, like I was a rookie. You know, I had guys around me that's been in the game for so long, like, you know, dra. I got Willie McGinnis and Brusky.
Colin Cowherd
Right.
Steve Covino
Rodney Harrison. So I had guys around me that's been playing for, you know, a good while. That. That was their. Their team and their deal. So they were veterans.
Rich Davis
And you're sort of like, cheering with them. You're still part of it.
Steve Covino
I'm still part of it. The last one was that was my team. That was my defense. Those guys I basically brought up, we. I helped them, I taught them. You know, there was my linebackers, there was my secondary. When I spoke, it was like I was like the big brother.
Rich Davis
And you got a little taste of everything. You know, winning young, winning older, losing Super Bowl. Yeah, a little bit of everything.
Colin Cowherd
When you watch, like, a documentary man. In the arena, Tom Brady, do you get emotional watching those old highlights when it's all in slow motion and they tell, like, an emotional story along with the games?
Steve Covino
Well, a lot of times we don't realize some stories behind things, you know, and watching stuff like that, he's like, man, we did that dang. Like, dang. Tell him you like it. It puts you in awe because you don't realize how great things were.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Covino
Until you retire and you look back on your career, because you have to understand, as you plan, it's go, go, go, go. I don't have time to reminisce on the play that I made. You know, I don't got time to re. I don't have. I don't have time to reminisce on losing. Every. Every week is. You have to go. But once you retire and sit back and you'd be like, wow, and we did that, or, man, I did that. That's crazy. That's when you could kind of reminisce on your career. What it meant for you, the teammates. You had stuff like that and being certain situation, you thought it was one thing, but you find out it was so much other stuff going on. It's like, man, I didn't have no clue. So it's bittersweet, you know, it's bittersweet. But it's always cool to look back and just realize what we accomplished over that span.
Colin Cowherd
When you see what Mahomes is doing right now, do you get defensive of 12 of Tom Brady?
Steve Covino
No.
Colin Cowherd
Or do you. Or do you admire what Mahomes is?
Steve Covino
I admire him. I admire him because, you know, Mahomes won me over last year when, you know, Chiefs was not looking like the Chiefs. And, you know, they, they hit a stride and McHolm's game changed. And you see when his game changed, the team game changed. He basically put that team on his back. He said, I'm going to get it. And I, I became a Mahomes fan then, you know, but 12 is 12. That's just what it is.
Rich Davis
12 is what it is. Yeah, he's different now. Speaking of Mahomes, you know, he's going for the three piece, something that Brady hasn't done. But Jalen hurts, doesn't want to lose again. Right. Especially to the Chiefs. You've lost in a Super Bowl. Can you tell us about the motivation factor? Rich and I have been arguing all.
Colin Cowherd
Week because I feel like both teams want it. He's like, the Eagles may want it more.
Rich Davis
It's not about. I keep saying, what's a greater motivator to win again? Like, you've been fed already or haven't gotten one yet and you've lost. Like, what's a greater motivator? Losing or going for the three peat?
Steve Covino
Losing. Because, you know, 3p. I mean, it's 3p. Yes. Cool. It's history and all that. But if. If I lost the Super Bowl, I know that feeling. See, people don't understand.
Rich Davis
Tell us the feeling.
Steve Covino
Yeah, I can. I can never explain it to the point that you would get it because you have. That's something you have to experience. Losing the super bowl is the worst, worst time in my career. You understand other team confetti hitting you, you walking off the field. You got to go do media. You don't want to talk to media. You're pissed off. Because everything you put into it, losing a game, a Super bowl, it's like.
Colin Cowherd
It's sort of like someone taking your girl in front of you. You have to watch.
Steve Covino
You have to watch. You can't do Nothing.
Rich Davis
You have to respect it, you know.
Steve Covino
So I always think losing is a bigger deal than three people, because three. Pete, you got two already. And then you might not three peat, but you might can, you know, lose one and go. You got a chance to do another. But you losing, it's a big deal. So he was. It's a huge deal. So I think the Eagles looking at. In the aspect of, hey, we remember this feeling, how we felt losing before. We don't want that feeling ever again. Like, we know we don't want that feeling.
Rich Davis
And everybody's so focused on the 3P. And I'm like, yo, they're pretty motivated too. And they got Saquon Bar, by the.
Colin Cowherd
Way, as a defensive legend. Are you seeing how this guy looks unstoppable.
Steve Covino
I fell in love with Barkley. Listen what he's done this year. I fell in love. I became. I don't know if you called me an Eagles fan or whatever it may be, but I fell in love with him just the way he approaches the game. And I want them to win it for that, you know, before him, you know, and people doubting him or he's not the same. And this, that other. He came back and had a monster year. Like one of the best years of running back and have in the history of this game.
Rich Davis
And he seems like a good dude.
Steve Covino
And he seems like a great guy. It seems like when you have. When you have a guy like that, it's easy to play and rally around a guy like. Like, listen.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Covino
And not. Let's not talk about the Eagles. Their, their, their defensive front or their offensive front. Like they have what it takes to win. They do. They. I believe they're the most physical team. I think they have more depth all on defensive line. And they have playmakers on a defensive line that can ruin the game.
Rich Davis
Well, as a defensive guy, how would you stop him? How would you stop this Barkley? Everyone's saying, don't. You can't bet against Mahomes. But they're all saying, you can't stop Saquon Barkley. So how would you approach that man?
Steve Covino
Hey, it's big boy game.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Covino
Because I can't. I can't dedicate eight in the box.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Steve Covino
Because guess what? I have these guys on the outside. You got A.J.
Colin Cowherd
Brown, you got Devonte Smith.
Steve Covino
We have these guys, these playmakers on the outside. Into my tight end in the back, out the backfield. I can't do that. Because if you do that, I'm over the top. I got a speeds to run a 4:1 that can get down the field in two seconds. Like you putting so much stress on your second. Like, no, you can't do that. So you gonna have to play smart Schematic. You're going to have to do some things differently. Show them some different looks, disguise, you.
Rich Davis
Know, you made me think of something. Speaking of doing things differently, I know it's always been a part of the game, but do you think there has been an increase in knocking the ball out, punching the football? What are your thoughts on that? Are they taking boxing lessons? How are they so accurate in today's game? Knocking the ball out, punching it out?
Steve Covino
I think it's just practice more, right? Yeah, they took. They took something that was very successful and just implemented. And it just practices and practices because I just look at it as. Nowadays with NFL, you can't hit, you can't tackle certain type of ways. So the most important thing in football is the ball, right?
Colin Cowherd
Turnover.
Steve Covino
So if I can't knock your head off, how can I get this ball? I can't hit you and get it off. So what, what else? You know what I'm saying?
Rich Davis
So impressive. It's crazy. Hitting the moving, it's like a puncher.
Colin Cowherd
A whole new part of the game.
Steve Covino
Yeah, but me, I'll be like, man, I'm getting too close. I need to do something. But this patient paycheck power, you know?
Rich Davis
Right.
Steve Covino
It's a credit to the coaches that's coaching it and it's credit to the players that's taking that part of their game and elevated it because it make a huge game.
Rich Davis
Mike Tyson's gonna be a football coach next. Exactly. I'm working with the Raiders now.
Steve Covino
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Rich Davis
You know, dude, that's crazy.
Steve Covino
I'll eat your face.
Colin Cowherd
I love it. Yeah. Vince Wilfork, I gotta ask you because you're here with Kingsford, right?
Steve Covino
Yes, yes, yes.
Colin Cowherd
So I'm here all week and we're having a Super bowl party at my house when I get back to California. And my wife said, babe, this week while you're gone, I want to buy a new smoker and a new grill and I want to experiment with new food for the party. And I'm like, babe, that's not the time to start thinking you smoking meats or even cheese, Right. She'd be taking on this task the week before this. But you know what?
Steve Covino
Look here. Kings will make it very easy for you, buddy. Kingsford original is the choice of championship. Just get you some keys for. Because you know what? You know Some people think grilling is just all about a seasonal thing, really is. All year round. I cook all the time. And because it's, it's the flavor, it's the smell, it's bringing people together, family, friends. And we was talking earlier, just growing up, going to the park and just having that aroma and smell.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Steve Covino
You knew what time it was. So it is perfect time. This is perfect time for you and your wife.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Steve Covino
All right, get keys on board. Go get your Kingsford for game day preparations and make. But it makes it so, so simple and easy because it just, it brings so many people together. Food and football, it's like amazing collab, you know, when it comes to that.
Colin Cowherd
Vince, I gotta ask you, what happens if someone tries to man your grill? Can you take over another man's grill?
Steve Covino
That's a listen here, man.
Rich Davis
You gotta be pretty bold to make that man listen.
Steve Covino
That's, that's right up there how I feel about boiling ribs. Like, we don't do that. You don't touch. You don't touch my grill.
Rich Davis
Right.
Steve Covino
You don't touch another man's radio. You don't do that. So there's nobody coming, peeking, like, we're not doing that. That's fighting.
Colin Cowherd
Right, right, right.
Steve Covino
So I'm very, very protective over my grill and my setup and how I do things. Like if stay in the house, I'll let you know when the food is done.
Rich Davis
You know, speaking of the Kingsford stuff too, you're working with Jason Kelsey. I'm just wondering what it's like working with this guy. He's so popular now. Is it crazy to see one of the Beatles or something?
Steve Covino
You know, it was cool. We had a good time. Having a, we had a great time on set. And amazing, amazing guy, you know, And I was happy to bring him on to the Kingsford felon to teach him a little something. Something about being the king of the grill, you know, so he's learning. He's, he, he's almost there. He'll probably tell you he's there, but, you know, it's a work in progress, but I'm happy with him. And we, we had a great time. It was Kingsford and, and Jason and myself, like, man, we, we've done amazing things, you know, and we're gonna. Hopefully we can continue to do this stuff and bring you guys some more good stuff. Goodness, I love it, man.
Colin Cowherd
Man. A pleasure having you, Vince Wilfor.
Steve Covino
Thank you guys.

And by the way, congratulations in order. Did you see Giselle had a baby?
Rich Davis
No way.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, her and the fitness instructor, the jiu jitsu dude, Joaquin.
Rich Davis
Yeah, they always the jiu jitsu guy or Chad at work.
Colin Cowherd
They had the baby and I think the only, the only thing that could be a real like, ah, gut punch would be a fast forward 20 years.
Rich Davis
You mean judo chop?
Colin Cowherd
Oh, yeah, the good one. Imagine this kid becomes a football star and Tom Brady's kids don't. That's the only. That's the only, you know, way this goes weird.
Rich Davis
Right?
Colin Cowherd
But hey, congrats to Giselle.
Rich Davis
Exactly.
Colin Cowherd
That just broke in the news.
Rich Davis
So, you know, you think, you think things like that are gonna be devastating, but I've lived it and you know, it stinks for a second. You move on with your life. I'm sure Tom Brady happy for her and he moves on and, you know, he wishes her the best. It's simple as that.
Colin Cowherd
Let me just say nine months ago, must have been a busy time because Aaron Judge became a dad. I just saw that happen. Daddy Yankee is The quote, the real daddy Yankee. So look at that. Babies being born, super bowl week, and Camino.
Rich Davis
I know.
Colin Cowherd
There's so many things we want to get to. And we have two hours more later on today, like you said on Fox Sports Radio. Filling in for Colin now.
Rich Davis
Yeah. Again, I'm Steve. Colin. That is Rich Davis. Danny's getting ready for your Herdline news. Danny G. Super producing. Thanks again to Bersch and Perfett back at the studio. And thanks again to Travis Matthew for the sweet jacket I'm rocking.
Colin Cowherd
That is a nice one.
Rich Davis
Yeah. But I want to know your thoughts on this. Actually, you brought this up to me, Rich, and I feel like you forgot about it.
Colin Cowherd
I forget everything.
Rich Davis
In passing you said to me, isn't it weak? Isn't it weak? The Mavs are offering refunds.
Colin Cowherd
I don't. I think it's the weakest sauce I've ever heard of.
Rich Davis
So hold on. I'm trying to break this down, too. The Mavericks released some sort of statement that if you're real upset that they got rid of their star player, the franchise player, they got rid of. Luca, if you are so butthurt by this, they will offer you a refund. Now, I kind of get to thinking because you and I do a Patreon podcast, right? We do our own Patreon. Of course, people complain for whatever reason, like, we're customer service. Like, dude, you want a refund? Or if they don't like my opinion on something, I'm like, hey, dude, you want a refund, I'll hook you up. You know, it's a nice way of shutting people up sometimes. So maybe it's as simple as that.
Colin Cowherd
Like, well, people take them up on it, though. Like, there are times where, yeah, someone's like, kavino, I hate your take on this. And Kavino will respond, Danny G. Hey, you want me to send your five or ten bucks back?
Rich Davis
Hey, dude, if you want your five bucks back, I'll send it to you. Seriously, Like, I mean, it's, you know, stop complaining. Yeah, exactly. Like, I'd rather give you your money back than listen to you complain about nonsense. So it might be a simple way of doing that.
Colin Cowherd
Two layers here for me. Go ahead. By offering refunds.
Rich Davis
Like, what a Karen of a fan you have to be. And I say that respectfully to all the Karens out there. What a Darren, what a pain in the ass fan you are to demand a refund now that Luka's not on the team. They're still playing. It's not like you're showing up and there's an understudy and you're disappointed.
Colin Cowherd
Well, I was gonna say I have two thoughts. Number one, you're insinuating that you got the weakest end of this trade, Right? Like you're admitting Anthony Davis is a defensive player of the year. Anthony Davis is one of the top players, one of the top 75.
Rich Davis
Mavericks are coming into the thinking here that they got the piece they need to win. That's the thinking behind it. So that shows how supportive of a fan you really are to now want your money back. In fact, we mentioned it before during Danny's headline News Herdline News. AD also waived $6 million so that the Mavericks could get other pieces that they need. So, like, he's doing everything to benefit.
Colin Cowherd
I think by offering a refund, you're somehow in a weird way, admitting we got the weaker end of this trade.
Rich Davis
And if anything, baby B, you got.
Colin Cowherd
Anthony Davis, one of the best defensive guys, and you clearly were not happy with Luka and how he played defensively. It's not like you traded Luka for, I don't know, so many picks at a player to be named later or some nonsense. This is a monster trade.
Rich Davis
Two stars, right? I mean, am I blaming you for feeling a little confused about it? Like, upset about it? You're still processing it. I mean, even Patrick Mahomes publicly was like, I'm sick over this trade.
Colin Cowherd
I don't know how to feel about it.
Rich Davis
I'm sick. But then once it processed, he's like, oh, I gotta admit, AD And Kyrie are gonna be nice, though.
Colin Cowherd
Imagine, I imagine there was a trade in the NFL and it's like, straight up, Amon Ross, St. Brown, straight up for Justin Jefferson and one of the teams, like, I will offer a refund if you're really that sad.
Rich Davis
For the complainy fans, it really is just to shut them up. That's my theory. And again, I'm not blaming anybody. If you're a Luke fan, like, for feeling a little disappointed or feeling shocked or gut punched by the whole situation, I get that. He's your guy. He was your franchise guy. You're going to grow old with them. I understand. I understand. It takes a minute to process.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, I'd be more upset if I bought a Luca jersey and now it's irrelevant.
Rich Davis
But demanding refunds and the Mavericks being put in a position where they're offering refunds to people that are upset by this, it's sort of a weak move. It's your. You're accommodating the weakest part of your fan base. Because the real thinking should be, hey, we made the move that we thought was necessary. Deal with it. You're not running the team now. You think you know what's best for the team. Get out of here.
Colin Cowherd
Do you think it was partially a sarcastic yes?
Rich Davis
If you want a refund, that's my thinking.
Colin Cowherd
You could get one, you little baby bee. Is that yeah.
Rich Davis
Because I don't have time for sports babies. If you are going to cry, cry about this. Here's your money back. Because most fans are not going to be behave that way.
Colin Cowherd
You adjust to the new players on your team. You know, this is not the same my dad who's retired. Well, every so often, Danny G. Bring his wife into Manhattan to go see a Broadway show. Oh, my dad going to Broadway. So my dad Greg will take his wife into the city, they'll go see a show, get some lunch. Retired life must be nice.
Rich Davis
Go see Radio City Musical.
Colin Cowherd
Oh, I'll go to go see Hamilton. So my dad and his wife are big fans of Hugh Jackman. I mean, the guy, I mean, he is the greatest showman.
Rich Davis
I mean, he is.
Colin Cowherd
I mean, he's a star. My dad probably paid three or four hundred dollars a ticket to go see Hugh Jackman on Broadway.
Rich Davis
I mean, he is the headlining name of this Broadway.
Colin Cowherd
He's on the marquee. I mean, but a couple days before the performance. Now this is a couple years ago. This is like towards the tail end of like the COVID days.
Rich Davis
I can't wait to see Hugh Jackman. There was your dad probably says his name wrong. Huge Jackman.
Colin Cowherd
Huge Jack.
Rich Davis
Dad, it's Hugh. Oh, Huge Jackman.
Colin Cowherd
So my dad sees on like Fox 5 News in New York, like Hugh Jackman has Covid. He has to cancel a week of shows. There'll be an understudy. My dad called the box off and he's like, yeah, can I want to reschedule my tickets and get new tickets?
Rich Davis
Because he wanted to see Hugh Jackson.
Colin Cowherd
That.
Rich Davis
That's fair.
Colin Cowherd
Is fair. That is not what's happening in Dallas.
Rich Davis
Right.
Colin Cowherd
You're not canceling because you trade a player.
Rich Davis
They're not replacing Hugh Jackman in this story with Zac Efron, who is also in the Greatest Showman. Yeah. Where it was like, well, it's not Hugh Jackman, but he's still a big star.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah. Oh, but Bryan Cranston will be playing the role.
Rich Davis
Like, right. You're like, you know, in this case, you still get, I don't know, Anthony Davis and Kyrie and the rest of the Mavericks that you're supposedly a fan of. So again, I do think it's just, it's just good PR and a courtesy to the whiny, complaining fans. And it just goes to show you the culture we live in where people are so quick to complain and, and speak to the manager mentality. It's like, oh, barf.
Colin Cowherd
And it really is, you know, it's.
Rich Davis
Really catering to that type of person.
Colin Cowherd
You could argue it's the super serving of the fans that a guy like Mark Cuban's usually doing. Maybe this is a Mark Cuban, like, listen, I'm, I'm such the people pleasing owner. Everyone loves Mark Cuban. Everyone wants a guy like him running their team. Maybe it's his way of saying, like, listen, there's plenty of people excited, but if you're not, if you want to.
Rich Davis
Be a baby, you're catering to sports babies. And the right mentality is simply this. Look, Lakers fans still have to process losing A.D. they won with A.D. he's been there for what, six years? That's LeBron's guy, right? The right mindset is to now look at the Mavericks or the Lakers, but Mavericks in this story with, man, I gotta see how this all unfolds. Like, I want to see the chemistry between Kyrie and A.D. you got to be excited about the move that they made, not crying about it moving forward. So anyway, that's the story, and that's our side to it. That's our take on it. The Mavericks are offering refunds to crybaby fans. That's how I view it.
Colin Cowherd
You bunch of babies. Hey, I got a story that I'm gonna add to the Herdline news. So let's hit it. It's time. Herdline news.
Steve Covino
No, no, no. Turn on the news.
Colin Cowherd
This is the Herdline News.
Dallas Goddard
All right, leading headline from super bowl week in New Orleans, Fox Sports radio head honcho and radio hall of Famer Don Martin says that Rich Davis feeding our boss Scott food was literally the weakest thing he's seen in 30 years of covering the big game.
Rich Davis
Literally. Yeah, 30 years.
Colin Cowherd
We're going to, we're going to cover this later on our show. I think splitting food with another grown man is totally fine.
Rich Davis
And then feeding each other is a whole other story.
Dallas Goddard
All right, as you guys know, the NBA trade deadline is tomorrow. One rumor and one trade. KD is dealing with a left ankle sprain. It's uncertain whether or not Durant has played his last game for the Suns. Sources say Phoenix has been Willing to listen to offers for Kevin Durant. In recent days, the warriors are among the teams with interest, according to Brian Windhorst.
Rich Davis
What about Jimmy Butler, man? Is that window closing on him or like, is he going Suns? Like, what's his deal?
Dallas Goddard
No new news on, on Butler as of right now.
Rich Davis
Is he just sort of like becoming too much of a pain in the ass?
Dallas Goddard
He always has such a good start and he's so good in the postseason. It's just when things go bad, they go really bad for him.
Rich Davis
And I think once he make, I hear some reference today, like when he makes, when he has his mind set on something, that's just how it is, yo. He wants out and that's just how it is.
Colin Cowherd
I got to ask you, I mean, because again, this is usually around the time where a lot of people start honing into the NBA more because you just have the super bowl left. And then after that, before baseball, it's NBA. NBA. Some people loving, some hockey. I look at it this way. NBA, there's a lot of moves. Am I wrong by saying more than the past few years where there's a lot of players, that there could be a lot of movement in the next 24 hours? And I like, I like it. I think I'm excited to see some of these new guys on their new teams and see how the second half of the season unfolds.
Dallas Goddard
I think it could just feel like that too because we had the biggest trade in all of sports.
Rich Davis
Think about it. For many years, right? We're getting ready for Sunday Super Bowl. It's media row. We're talking NBA.
Colin Cowherd
That would never happen.
Rich Davis
That would never happen if that trade didn't happen.
Dallas Goddard
Speaking of that, Shams has more breaking news this morning. The Bucs trade three time all star Khris Middleton to the Wizards in a deal that sends Kyle Kuzma, former Laker, to Milwaukee. Middleton is 33, spent the last 11 plus seasons in Milwaukee, big part of that Bucs championship team in 21. He's averaging just 12.6 points per game this season. Injuries have plagued him the past few years. Meanwhile, Kuzma is 29, averaging over 15 points and almost six rebounds. He injects some youth to a Bucs roster that now has a new Big Three, Giannis, Lillard and Kuzma.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, you know, it's crazy. We seem to discount that Bucks team with Giannis because they're middle of the pack in the East. But you make some adjustments, they could rise in the second half. I mean, they're only A couple of years removed from winning a championship.
Dallas Goddard
So into the NFL. The reason we're here in New Orleans, the back to back Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes expects a different Vic Fangio this Sunday. Every time I've played coach Fangio, there's been different changeups and different things that he's shown us. Mahomes said this morning. I think that's what makes him so great, is he's not going to just do exactly what you saw the last time. I'm sure there's going to be blitzes during the game. I'm sure there's going to be times where they play coverage. It's going to be a chess match. But you want to go up against the best and he's one of the best defensive coordinators in the league. It'll be a great challenge for us. And the refs, not Mahomes went 6 0, by the way, versus Fangio when he was head coach of the Broncos. Added two more victories over Miami last year where he worked as defensive coordinator. Only Peyton Manning, 9 and 1 has more wins over a Fangio led defense.
Colin Cowherd
Man, you know, I think. I think Patrick's just saying all the right things, to be honest. I mean, is there anyone that could really game plan for the magic that Patrick Mahomes seems to bring in the playoffs? He's won, you know, three of the last four Super Bowls. Going into his fifth one here, this is, you know, we're talking about a guy that beat Kyle Shanahan and great defensive coordinators. Twice he beat the Eagles. You know that one blemish Tom Brady beating him. Besides that, he shows up the play.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Dallas Goddard
In Covino earlier you said our boy Spot was in the bathroom with Gronk.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Dallas Goddard
At the same time.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Dallas Goddard
Not together. They just. They were side by side. Gronk came out and said the reason he's picking the Chiefs is because of their record versus Fangio 6 0.
Colin Cowherd
I haven't checked it out, but I'm pretty sure it's 6 0. I want to add one story to your headline news. Taylor Swift, she's gonna be there in the $2 million.
Rich Davis
Broke it. We went a whole show. Now you bringing her up last year.
Colin Cowherd
You'Ve r. Last year she was there. She's here now. A $2 million suite and they're talking about the elevated menu.
Rich Davis
You know, you know what? Hustle is going to be there, right at the game. Your boy Donald Trump.
Colin Cowherd
The Donald will be there. Taylor Swift is headed back to the suite and they're saying here's what's on the menu. Lobster quesadillas. There's a.
Rich Davis
There's a.
Colin Cowherd
There's a lot of good food on this menu. They're saying all types of, like, Kobe beef, like little sliders and just shrimp cocktail. And they're breaking out all the Cajun, creole southern food for Taylor Swift.
Rich Davis
Oh, but she'll make me hungry, man.
Colin Cowherd
She'll be in the booth rooting on her dude, Travis Kelson.
Dallas Goddard
All right, let's wrap it up with the NBA really quick here. Last night, the Lakers beat the Clippers again at the new Intuit dome. 122. 97. We saw LeBron and Luca sitting together for the first time. There's another story from the game. Even global superstars aren't immune to the occasional case of mistaken identity. Travis Scott learned that firsthand last night as he strolled across the court to greet fellow spectators. A security guard, who clearly didn't recognize the rapper, grabbed him by his jacket, attempting to stop him. The confrontation didn't last long, but other security had to intervene, recognizing Scott and signaling that he did have courtside permission. Social media ate this up, as many like our boy spot Monday night at the Superdome have lacked access at times in their life.
Rich Davis
Yeah, it's embarrassing getting denied or stopped. So you can imagine a guy like Travis Scott, how he feels in that moment. You know, it's like you want to drop who you are, but you don't at the same time. Did you see Jordan's son? He dropped the fact that he was Jordan's son pretty quick.
Dallas Goddard
It's different when you have some cocaine on you, Right.
Colin Cowherd
I was curious if you were Michael Jordan's son. I think you almost have to pull out that card because if you are in trouble, you might get a couple officers that are like, oh, you're Jordan's son. Like, you know, it's embarrassing, and it's like a weak move. He was in trouble. He was on drugs, but allegedly, I. I think you have to pull that move. And by the way, speaking of that Taylor Swift food. I'm sorry, I'm hungry looking at this.
Rich Davis
You on. You won't stop with Taylor Swift.
Colin Cowherd
Colossal Gulf shrimp nine hour smoked short ribs in a remoulade sauce with some. Get this allergator alligator sauce. Oh, yeah, Jambalaya beef brisket.
Dallas Goddard
Our boy sauger said he had alligator the other day.
Colin Cowherd
You know, maybe we gotta go get some fried alligator. We have two hours in between this show and our other show today on Fox Sports. So maybe some alligator.
Rich Davis
I'M doing some fat guy radio. Thanks for the fat guy radio. Thanks for the fat guy update.
Colin Cowherd
And that was the Herdline news.
Rich Davis
Thanks, Danny G. Well, that's the news and thanks for stopping by the Herd lie news. All right. Again, it's Covino and Rich in for Colin on the Herd live from Media row Super Bowl 50 New Orleans. And we still got to talk JD Martinez and more about the game this weekend. But we still have two more hours of Covino and Rich later on, so we have lots to get to stick around. Rich Davis
Yeah, exactly. Because they were sharing food yesterday at the company dinner. We're live from Radio row Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans. And big thanks again to everybody hanging out with us. Thank you to Colin for trusting us with his show. We appreciate that. Puka Nakua who stopped by earlier if you guys missed it. Such a good dude. Such good energy. Catch it on the podcast. Colin Cowherd
I think I know where Colin really was today. Where you see the Goonies reunion.
Rich Davis
Is that where he was?
Colin Cowherd
But no, that's every. Every time I scroll on social media. Other than super bowl stuff. CNN even reported a few minutes ago the Goonies never say die. 40 years later, they're all supporting Khu Kwon is K Hui Quan Quiquan.
Rich Davis
Sorry, Better known as Short Round.
Colin Cowherd
Short Round, of course, is Data. He has another movie out and pretty cool to see. All the remaining alive cast members supported him at a movie premiere and they're saying reunion Goonies too. Would you be down for that if it was like their kids and they did it right? Like if the Goonies kids went on.
Dallas Goddard
An adventure, there's some movies you just got to leave alone.
Rich Davis
They're not all there. That was Sean Aston.
Colin Cowherd
Oh, he was in another picture. He's there.
Rich Davis
Oh, he was there in this picture. But hey, man, it's no reunion without Corey Feldman. I love that guy. Richard. Big fan of his music.
Colin Cowherd
I heard. Wait, I thought that was Megan Rafino. No, he has bleach blonde hair and he's like Skinny.
Dallas Goddard
Now, I love his rendition of Freebird from Leonard Skinner.
Rich Davis
I love his dance moves.
Colin Cowherd
Well, hey, happy 40th Goonies. By the way, I just saw a headline that I wanted to bring up before you get out of here.
Rich Davis
Okay.
Colin Cowherd
This is a true headline. I thought I was a herd line. Yeah. According to Front Office Sports, which is legit. Stephen A. Smith. The fact of the matter, Stephen A. Is emerging as a possible Democratic.
Rich Davis
Emerging. You do not want to make an.
Dallas Goddard
Enemy out of me.
Colin Cowherd
Stephen A. Emerging as a Democratic candidate for the United states president in 2028.
Rich Davis
And why is that a surprise?
Colin Cowherd
I mean, Stephen A. Is a pretty big deal, but President?
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
President, mayor.
Rich Davis
Yeah. We've seen. I mean, Ronald Reagan was the president.
Colin Cowherd
I mean, Arnold was a governor. Donald Trump's the president. So, I mean, you're right. Stranger things have happened.
Dallas Goddard
But I'm gonna clean up this town.
Rich Davis
Yeah. I'm a bad man. I'm a bad president.
Colin Cowherd
So, I mean, we shall say. I just thought, hey, that. That was not on my 2025 bingo card, as they say.
Rich Davis
I love that man. Stephen A. We could say we knew him when.
Colin Cowherd
I know, right?
Rich Davis
Right. How cool is that? And something. I guess we'll touch on now, but we'll continue on during our regular show. Again, just search Covino and Rich if you're busy later and check our podcast, follow rate and review and follow our adventures at covino and rich. J.D. martinez, this is your boy. And by the way, Rich, speaking of your Mets, they just got rid of Harrison Bader to the Twins.
Colin Cowherd
I'm okay with Jay. He was not a factor.
Rich Davis
No, but he's a good player, so.
Colin Cowherd
But sometimes, you know, a good player doesn't work out. He didn't sniff the postseason.
Rich Davis
I know, but I know him personally. No, I know him as a Yankees fan, and I know what he's capable of. He's a good player. It's a good move for the Twins. But your boy, J.D. martinez.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Rich Davis
Who had his best days in Boston.
Colin Cowherd
Well, you saw that. Listen, I'm not being critical because I wish that I would have even played a minute in any professional sport. J.D. martinez, a legitimate superstar. If you look at his numbers, they're pretty solid. 331 career home runs. The guy batted.283 lifetime. But there were some years there in the end, where you're like, yo, he's still batting.270. 30 home runs. 103 Ribby's with the Dodgers. A couple years ago, Boston injuries hurt him. He raked in Boston. He raked in Boston, Detroit, Houston. Last year as a Met, apparently a great team leader in the clubhouse, a guy that gave the Mets some confidence in the whole, like, yo, I came here because you guys are a postseason team. So sometimes the guy's influence and worth is in the postseason as a leader in the clubhouse or during the season as just a veteran voice. But last year, 230, 16 home runs just never really clicked with the Mets. So when I hear that he's moving on, makes sense. It's time.
Rich Davis
Yeah, he's looking forward. He signed a deal with. I don't know if it's J O O L A or Joola. It's like an equipment company, and it's a pickleball professional brand. And he signed with them because he's saying there's no ceiling on his potential in the world of pickleball.
Colin Cowherd
It's got a good swing.
Dallas Goddard
Pretend like you don't have their equipment in your closet.
Rich Davis
I'm not familiar with. You know what? I have to be honest. Why would I lie? I've never played pickleball ever in my life.
Colin Cowherd
Well, you know what?
Rich Davis
I'm not opposed to it. I'm not taking some weird stance like it's for losers.
Colin Cowherd
If you want to play pickleball, you.
Rich Davis
Know where you go. Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
You see Dan Patrick on his set here?
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
He has a pickleball court, and all the Danets are just playing pickleball.
Rich Davis
I just thought it was interesting to see the transition, because if you missed our Puka Nakua interview earlier, we said, hey, man, he's a young player now. What do you think you'll be doing after A lot of times there's an interest in broadcasting or commentary or podcasting. Even Kurt Schilling yesterday was saying, he wants to do what we do. He wants to do like a Manning cast for baseball. You know, a lot of people think along those lines. Puka Nakua said, well, look, man, I'm basically still a young man in life. I want to play professional basketball in another country somewhere.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah. His whole point was, if, you know, football is something that, you know, lasts until he's 30, something like most wide.
Rich Davis
Receivers, he was serious about that.
Colin Cowherd
He thinks that he could go play.
Rich Davis
Overseas, international basketball, basketball, and he would love to do that. So to see J.D. martinez say, I'm an old guy on the field, but still a young guy in life, I could compete in pickleball, I think sets a new precedent of, wow, man, we're going to see a lot of athletes make that transition, not just in the world of golf or international basketball, pickleball could be an option.
Colin Cowherd
What I like about that, and what doesn't surprise me is when you're a professional athlete like a J.D. martinez or Puka Nakua or anyone for that matter, from the time you're a little boy, I was just a little boy. From the time you were a little boy until a grown man, all you know is dominating sports. Because if you made it to the pros every step of the way, from Little league to Pop Warner to junior high, high school, you dominated. So when you're playing, days are done and you feel like I got athletic gas in the tank, not surprising that he's like, yo, sign me up. I'm going to be a pickleball guy. You think you want to just stop athleticism?
Rich Davis
