Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast. And you know what time it is. It's time for the special guest Big Play Slave. What up brother? What's good?
Big Play Slay
What's good? My good? It was Good, man. How you been?
Richard Sherman
I've been good. I've been good.
Big Play Slay
Yes, sir.
Richard Sherman
Coming off a tough game for y'. All. Y' all gotta. Y' all got a great game. Sunday Night Football. Perfect opportunity. Prime time to. To make a statement against the Green Bay packers and Aaron Rodgers revenge game. Ish. You know, I know he didn't play before, but I know he's feeling some type of way about this.
Big Play Slay
Oh, you know, of course, you know, that's a rod, man. He, he, he, you know, so the game for sure. We want to win for sure for ourselves, but for sure a lot with a rod, man. He been in the organization for so long, did so much for that team, won a Super bowl for him. So it's big for him, man. I know he not gonna try to, you know, try to take it too personal. You know what I'm saying? But I know a rod is personal.
Richard Sherman
Right, right, right. Yeah, he always stuff.
Big Play Slay
Yeah. He took a person with the jets and he wouldn't be that long there with him. So I gotta understand what he feel about Green Bay.
Richard Sherman
So that boy gonna be in the bottom, scraping the bottom of his bag, trying to get these boys out.
Big Play Slay
All in it. All in it, man.
Richard Sherman
Matt LaFleur, the head coach of the Green Bay packers, said he's not worried about Aaron Rodgers revenge game. He's not worried about, you know, any of that narrative. Matt, you're doing great as a coach. It don't matter if you're not worried about it. Aaron is worried about it, and for good reason. He means a lot to this franchise. He meant a lot to that franchise. Foreign VP's there. He's going to bring his best.
Big Play Slay
Come on now. Hey, we all been in that situation before because, shoot, you got a chance to get the revenge on your boys. I had a chance to get paid against my boys. So that jump personal. I don't know what folks be talking about. Them coaches know it'd be personal.
Richard Sherman
It'd be personal. But you can't never say it. You can't, you can't. You can't ever say what you really want to say in the media without it being a negative spin and all this. Like, if people wasn't so bad about people telling the truth and like. And people would say it more. People used to get mad at me for, for saying what I had to say. But, I mean, I'm telling you, I'm keeping it a buck. Like, if I think somebody weak, I'm going to do it and I'm going to say it. And then I'mma show you that thing weekend. I'mma say it again. And it is what it is. But if I. If it's a revenge game, you got to say no, I don't mean that much. You know what I mean? Because what you going to say? Yeah, it mean a lot to me. And I hope we beat the heck out of them. If we can be up 50, that would make my day. You can't say that.
Big Play Slay
You can't say it. You can't say it.
Richard Sherman
Can't say it.
Big Play Slay
What's making a difference? I'll be trying to tell folks what makes stuff a revenge game is when you get. When you get doing that team releasing now, if you go somewhere on your own, it's a better vibe. But if you, you release me or trade me. Yeah, bro, it's always been free agent.
Richard Sherman
It's up, it's up. Every time I see you, every time.
Big Play Slay
I still remember that day with Marshawn. Like, man, we family.
Richard Sherman
Nah, they cut me right, right. And Marshawn talking about all that mess he went to the Raiders, he was talking about, I'm home. I said, marshawn, you ain't got no more loyalty than anybody else.
Big Play Slay
I remember that like yesterday. But I. Joe was too funny.
Richard Sherman
That was funny. That boy is funny. That boy is a character. So how can y' all win this game? Green Bay packers have a really good receiving core. They got another, a nice young receiver and Matthew Golden, a speedster. I believe Christian Watson is starting to work his way back. If I'm not mistaken. Romeo Dobbs, Tucker Kraft is, is. Is a go to guy. And then Brandon Jacobs. What, what, what do you guys gotta do to slow this offense down this week?
Big Play Slay
First we, we gotta do a lot, man. We gotta contain a run. I know our last couple games is going just realistic. What's out there on film, you know, guys has not been averaging, you know, 20 carries or 30 carries with a hundred yards. It's been like 12, 15, 11. So we gotta stop the explosive in the run game. You know, with definitely with Jacobs coming in the game, you know that's gonna be a bell cow. And he's one of the league too. So we got to for sure start to run. And then, you know, of course with that being said, you know, maybe try to make them one dimensional. We got to be way better than we was last week in the past game. So.
Richard Sherman
I'm looking at these uniforms and they're making me squint.
Big Play Slay
Oh, man. Hey, look, it's a day. Hey, boy, we look like we incarcerated, man. We in the jailhouse.
Richard Sherman
Yeah, yeah, y' all better. Y' all better. Y' all better pull out that jailhouse mentality. Put them on clamps under lock and key. But. But how you feeling about this? Obviously, this is a tradition and.
Big Play Slay
Yeah.
Richard Sherman
Historic and all that stuff, and you're part of one of the most historic franchises in the National Football League. These jerseys are interesting, though.
Big Play Slay
Yeah, man. This is my. I finally got to look at them for the first time, man, yesterday. So, I mean, I'm gonna try to see what I can do with him. You know what I'm saying? Cause I got the shot to see, you know what I'm saying? I'm a traditional guy. That's a lot of loud colors right there, boy. I'm gonna have to figure it out, man.
Richard Sherman
Cause.
Big Play Slay
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I gotta get my cleat game right, because if I don't feel good, I don't play good. So we go. We go out to figure that out, though, because, yeah, it might be a little bit too much yellow. But we're gonna do what we do, though. We'll do what we do.
Richard Sherman
See. See, if I had a name like Slay, I could come up with some cool saying. Like, Dion had that cool saying. If you. If you look good, you feel good, you feel good, you play good, you play good. They pay good.
Big Play Slay
Yeah.
Richard Sherman
And then if they pay good, then Slay good. You know what I mean? If I'm just trying to be a rapper or something.
Big Play Slay
Hey, come on, now. You got the bars now you got some balls. You from la. Y' all rap now.
Richard Sherman
Every now and then. Every now and then. But those are interesting jerseys. My question is going to be, what's your cleat combo? What? What. What. What footwear are you wearing with this yellow?
Big Play Slay
It got to be yellow. Like, I'm trying to put that together right now. And most of my cleats are more like yellow with some black in it. But I don't think we got no black in that dog on jersey or nothing at all. So I'm over here speechless right now. I'm really still trying to figure this out right now, because that's gonna be my tough part, because I love my cleats now. My cleats be.
Richard Sherman
Be.
Big Play Slay
They be on point. So I'm still debating.
Richard Sherman
I'm gonna be very locked into your swag this Sunday night, and all the viewers, all this. The Steelers fans pay attention to slight swag this week. I know y' all frustrated about the game last week. Let's keep the toxic comments and all the nonsense out of it. I just want one day for fans to try their best after a loss to say something positive. I challenge you all try to, if you can, say something positive to the player instead of, look, there's enough hate in the world. There's enough nonsense. There's enough. All this. Y' all love to watch these sports and I guarantee you these young men are doing the best they can. They don't mean to lose. They don't mean to give up balls. They don't mean to drop passes, throw interceptions, any of that. They doing their best. They don't always work out how you want it to work out. But I challenge y', all, after a tough game, after a good game, say something nice about your team. Say something nice about your players. If you're going to write a comment, challenge yourself to say something nice. Even if it's like, hey, you had a nice haircut today. It's okay. Something, something. Because. Because the hate, it don't help nobody. It don't make them feel better and it's definitely not going to help them play better the next game. You, you never know. The positive comment might be the pick me up. They need to get them over the hump for the next game. So how about we try a new strategy? Everybody say something positive to your guy after to. After tough games.
Big Play Slay
I'm trying to tell you, boy, but you know how these fans get. They let you have it. I'm talking about in a heartbeat, boy, in a heartbeat. But, you know, but that comes, that's some part of the game, man. So I'm not. We done got used to it now. But I wish one day they just had something nice to say, everybody.
Richard Sherman
Yeah, but it's just such a toxic part of the game. Like, it's such a toxic part of the game. Y' all still got a winning record. It's a tough. And they think, the NFL, they think, oh, man, this team has been struggling or this team has been up and down like they, they must, they must be bad. You guys are going to blow them out. Like, you just never know. A one win, I mean, a one loss team might get beat by one win team in the National Football League. And it shouldn't be that much. It'll be considered an upset. But these are NFL players.
Big Play Slay
Best in the world.
Richard Sherman
Best in the world. Speaking of positive, was there anything positive you or maybe Tomlin had to say after this game? You know, I know it's, you know, there were enough criticisms, enough criticism. To go around.
Big Play Slay
But, hey, man, look, you know, we know mitee mite. T's straightforward. Ain't too much positive. Only thing positive. Come on. This is a learning experience of what we need to do better. So, hey, man, we had a little meeting. Hey, he. You know, he. One thing about my team, man, what I do appreciate it. He thorough. He throw. Now he gonna tell you what it is. He go tell you what it is. And, you know, I know me and my. Our first meeting, he told us what we here for. And, boy, we got our chance to get out there, and we ain't perform the way we need to. So, you know, and you know, so we. We know we got a better. Gotta be better. And you know it. And, you know, one thing I knew about this, about being in the division, you got another chance. You got another chance. So we got another chance at that, man. We gonna wait till that. But we gotta worry about this week coming up. Cause this is a big game too, as well, so. But yeah, man, you know, he. My t. He's straightforward. You know, he ain't gonna sugarcoat nothing.
Richard Sherman
Yeah, I ain't mad at that. I mean, one thing I'll tell you about Pete Carroll. Pete Carroll would go in there and mind you, he'd sometimes be extra tough on us in game. Like, if we had five turnovers in the game, he'd show the three, four bad plays in front of the whole team and be like, hey, you gotta be better, which. Which is perfect. Keep your. Keep your humble and all that. But we could lose the game. And he'd come in there showing all the highlights, all the good stuff. Like, look at all the great things we did. You weren't able to pull it out. But, man, one play here, one play here, you see how special this can be? And be like, you know what? We damn sure. We damn sure did. Could have won that game.
Big Play Slay
Yeah, but you do better, though. You do.
Richard Sherman
That's a good way. That's a good way. But. Yeah, it's a different way.
Big Play Slay
How you could go about it, man, but my T have some of that in him. But he ain't got a lot of that in him. No, my teeth let you have it, buddy. Like, hey, look, we got some good stuff on tape now. It is some good tape out here. But. No, no, no.
Richard Sherman
This.
Big Play Slay
But we go talk about this right here, though. Hey, I love him, man. I love it. He played around, but he. Yeah, but, hey, but all grown man. We all grown men.
Richard Sherman
Every grown man. And you're getting paid to do the job. And you know the criticism comes with it. What did you think of when Broder Jones jumped on a rod back, man?
Big Play Slay
Look, I. At first, I didn't even see it. I'm like, I. I ain't know what happened. You know what I'm saying?
Richard Sherman
I saw.
Big Play Slay
I got on the plane. Da d d Everybody talking about it. So I look all right, and then that boy a look unhappy. He look unhappy, you know, A like.
Richard Sherman
Boy, I'm 41, boy.
Big Play Slay
I don't like being. I. It's hard for me already to get up off this ground. You put me back on the ground. Oh, no, no, no. I got something.
Richard Sherman
It landed on him. I. He laid there for a second, like. I know he didn't.
Big Play Slay
I know he didn't. I know he did. Hey, but I don't know how they talk was. But, man, I'm gonna have to find out because I'm gonna go to work tomorrow. I'm like, I didn't know you just laid on a rod like that. What you got going on?
Richard Sherman
Yeah, I need. I need you to ask that a rod. Like, I didn't avoid these big 300 pounders with. With the opposite jerseys on all day, but it's gonna be my own guy that just lands on me. That's. That's. That's rough. In the past here, if a D lineman do it, you can't do that. I'm talking about.
Big Play Slay
He did it to the old dude, man. Hey, I know he was excited, man. Emotions was crazy, though, because that was a hell of a play he made. But, my God. Hey, I ain't gonna lie to eight. Rod look like he about 34 again while moving around and standing them plays like that, too, though, man, he was looking sweet.
Richard Sherman
The fact. The fact you said 34. Like, it's young.
Big Play Slay
Yeah, yeah, 34. He wasn't looking like. And I don't seen him in. When he was 20, 27, 28. I don't seen him at that age. I just seen him. He could really run.
Richard Sherman
Run.
Big Play Slay
That's why I gave him about 34. So you know what I'm saying?
Richard Sherman
Gave him a little.
Big Play Slay
Little cushion.
Richard Sherman
A little cushion. Y'.
Big Play Slay
All.
Richard Sherman
Y' all been on the field a lot this year?
Big Play Slay
Yes.
Richard Sherman
Y' all been on the field a lot. Y'. All. Y' all averaging 72.5 plays a game for. For the fans who don't understand what that means. They on the field a lot too damn much. That's about 20 extra plays a game. It's a. The. The. The average about 50, maybe 55. You might get a 60 play game here and there, but 72 as an average. Yeah, Slay, I know your leg's gone.
Big Play Slay
Come on, man. That's on us as a defense, man, we gotta be better. You know, we gotta be accountable. No matter what the call is, we gotta execute. Just beat the man in front of you as a team and as a player. We not the best on third downs. We're not best at, you know, coming out there three and outs like we just ain't playing, you know, complimentary ball on the defensive side, you know what I'm saying? We might have some sparks in here, sparks in there. And that's what I was saying earlier in the year, like we got to stop depending on splash plays and you know, that's what we've been living off of for too long. And guys that can manage the ball, control the clock, not force turnovers. We got to force the turnovers. Instead of, you know, just trying to wait till they just make a mistake, you know, we got to force them. And that's why I think we need to just pick it up, you know, I know this is going to be a big week. We're going to be focused on like one play at a time and all us doing it together.
Richard Sherman
Yeah. Yeah. It's another, another primetime game, another primetime opportunity to showcase this defense and everything y' all capable of. But let's talk about this Other NFL.

Richard Sherman
JC horn was strapped.
Big Play Slay
Come on now. Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
Richard Sherman
You know, seat belt.
Big Play Slay
Hey boy, look. These boys bought the cornerbacks back into it again, man. That was the generation that came back. They bought us back the light because we had a little stink. A little minute for the end of draft. A little bit we had a little stink. But now them boys, that class there, that. That class brought us back, man. And. And the cd. Cause it was packed right before him. No, it was no JC first. Then it was packed after him in the draft. That draft. So they had two good two Chronos that really.
Richard Sherman
And then the Next draft was sauce.
Big Play Slay
It was sauce. And then Stingley.
Richard Sherman
Yep. Sting and then.
Big Play Slay
Yep, yep.
Richard Sherman
Witherspoon. The next one. Yeah.
Big Play Slay
So it's like they started to get back up. So to see JC do what he do, man, look, this is the. Probably the first time I've seen him play, you know, injury free. Like he been injured for a couple years and people have been like, oh man, he injured. He. I been knew he was nice, but you know, I know the injuries kept him from being limited on the field, but now he finally getting. Getting himself together. I'm quite sure he probably doing a lot differently to take care of his body, making sure he available to play and it's showing his worth right now. He's showing what that $25 million look like.
Richard Sherman
No question. I mean the one hander, the one hander was clean, the other one was clutch and, and he's just playing all around good football, man. You love to see it. You love to see him healthy and reaching his potential because he kind of gets lost in the best comp cornerback conversation sometimes because of the injuries. Not because of his lack his, his talent or anything like that, or his performance. Just because he's so beat up and he hasn't had enough plays and enough. Enough games under any kind of stuck in, in. In Carolina. In Carolina, you know, and they haven't been, yeah, they haven't been showcased as a team very often. So it's good to see him getting some love. You see Monday Night Football, jsn Jackson, Smith and Jigba continues his, his run. That man is eating right now. Slay. Hey, what you think he doing so good that make him special, man?
Big Play Slay
Look, he gotta be doing a lot and they got a great connection, man. It's some guys that. Them two guys right there really connecting, man. And when I tell you, I know when we played him, we like, okay, he's going, he's getting out there. He making good catches, contested catches. Like he don't seem as fast on film, but he run routes real polished. Like it's real controlling. It's not rushed. He not. You not dictating him, like, you know what I'm saying? He really, he really controlling the pace of the whole thing. And you watching a man, I'm like, look, y' all better start doubling this boy. Cause he's starting to be in that conversation of, you know, them top five guys right now, you know, right now he's doing it. And everybody can have this, whatever. You know, everybody had this question about Sam Darnold. Can he do this? Can he do that? Sam Darnold looking like first Team All Pro 2 as well, and playing on, leading an elite team to. To this. So they doing a damn thing I. I'm talking about. He. He nice with it, boy. He ain't playing around. He ain't.
Richard Sherman
No. He ain't playing around at all. He. He's running good routes, he's efficient, he's effective. They know he's getting the ball, and he's still getting it done. And he doing it against really good players. You know, y' all game, he had a. He had a. A good couple catches against Jalen this week. He had a touchdown against Stingley on the post, and Stingley was right there on the shoulder, you know, instinctively made a. Made a play in that game. Later on, got him a book to help try to change this game because their offense wasn't giving them a lot in this game. Their defense scored a touch. Their defense almost scored two. Yes. In his game, they was really keeping them in there. But that was great to see that. JSCN. I mean, he almost. He got 819 yards already, four touchdowns.
Big Play Slay
And what about seven. Eight games?
Richard Sherman
Seven games. Yeah. We're going into week eight.
Big Play Slay
I know. Hey, look, I know a receiver that. Wish he could have that going on right now, but I ain't gonna say it right.
Richard Sherman
And we can't say his name ain't gonna be Beyonce. Jonathan Taylor is also eating right now. The Indianapolis Colts are the big surprise for me. I mean, anybody that's. I can't say. People in Indianapolis, they might have known and felt that way, but anybody else saying, they thought, oh, Daniel Jones was gonna be an MVP candidate, the Indianapolis coach was gonna be the best team in nfc, I mean, afc and. And maybe in the league, you was lying to yourself, but they are.
Big Play Slay
Hey, look, well, I can tell you one thing, man. Shane, you know what he doing? I'm trying to tell you. When Shane was with us in Philly, he put that thing together now, and that's. You know what I'm saying? And I'm not saying I'm not surprised, but I knew if he find a quarterback that can just do as he needs and makes it, he know how to scheme it up and get right. And you see Daniel Jones looking like, now that the Giants gonna ask them a question like, where do we go wrong at?
Richard Sherman
Right, Right. A lot of wax in the map.
Big Play Slay
You know what I'm saying? So, you know, and if you look at the Colts team, man, not no offense, but now I'm saying they just as talented on the roster as them, but they just same way built as the Eagles. You know, running ball heavy, good run game. You know.
Richard Sherman
Big receivers, no big receiver.
Big Play Slay
Quarterback could extend the play that can use his legs. He can run quarterback draw if he wants to with him. So they kind of running back. Yeah. And they defense is playing very well. So it's like they, they built just like us, you know, just like, not like us, but like the Eagles. I said like us, like. Well, because I was referring them back to 22, so. But yeah, man, so I ain't surprised with Shane, man. I knew Shane was gonna get it going, people. I knew that.
Richard Sherman
But Jonathan Taylor has 697 yards and 11 touchdowns already, 10 of them rushing touchdowns on the season. And I know you biased and I know, I think, I know the answer to this, but you think a running back can win mvp?
Big Play Slay
They should. They need to, man. That's. I think he, he. If you're doing stuff like that as a running back, man, you take. Some people could take their running back off that team stuff don't happen. Like. And I understand the quarterback is the most important position and you can't win, but man, if you're doing numbers like that, that's big time. And he, he on the pace for. I know for some crazy stuff right now. I can't even imagine what he on pace for.
Richard Sherman
Yeah. Yeah. The last running back to win MVP was Adrien Peterson in 2012. He had 2200097 yards in his MVP season. Taylor is on track for 2142 yards. That's 105 right now. Right now, his 697 yards are 105 more than the next closest guy. But the, the. The deal is. And this is why I hate the MVP right now. And I don't like the award. I don't like how they doing it because I don't even like how they voting for it or people they're allowing to vote. It's a, It's a lot I got to say about that. But, but if, If Seyquan didn't win it last year and, and Christian McCaffrey didn't win it the year before, I just don't see it happening. And it don't seem like there's anything a running back could necessarily do to, to elevate himself into that conversation because they, They'll. They'll. They'll be sitting there looking like at Daniel Jones as the MVP before, Before. Before Taylor, before Jonathan Taylor. And I wish they had an individual award for the QBs, where they said best QB award. You know, I mean, call it Tom Brady. Call it the Joe Montana Tom Brady. Call it the best qb, mvb, most valuable quarterback. Whatever you want to do. But take them out of the equation because then you. Then you could be more fair about how you pick it.
Big Play Slay
Yeah.
Richard Sherman
Wait, you might even get a potential defensive player from time to time if you take them guys out of the equation, because you're going to give it to them because they touch the ball every play. So no matter what, they're going to be the most productive, they're going to have the most touchdown. Somebody, one of them, it's going to be Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes or. Or, you know, right now you could. You can make argument for Dak Prescott, the way he's been playing. Your Mississippi State boy been playing. They don't want to give him the credit he deserved because they've been in shootouts. But I'm telling you, his part of the shootout, he's been holding up the end of his end of the bargain.
Big Play Slay
I'm talking about. And letting it shoot, too.
Richard Sherman
And now, yeah, your young boy George Pickett's man.
Big Play Slay
I love him. Hey, look, he got some of the best body control with the case now, Rock, I ever seen. Boy, that boy that doing some stuff, boy. Golly, he the only one I look like that. Say, I don't want no separation from the db. I just want you to be close to me so I can moss you. This is like he just looking for that. Like, I'm not. I don't even want. I don't even want to run a good route. I want you to feel like you covered me and let you know you can't cover me.
Richard Sherman
You can't cover me. He say, stay right here. I don't want you too far away. Witness.
Big Play Slay
Witness it. I want you to witness this and I want you on my highlight tape. Yeah, yeah. But. Yeah, that MVP stuff. Stuff that's different, though. I don't like that. I don't like that you made a point, though. They need to make a quarterback one by themselves.
Richard Sherman
For sure.
Big Play Slay
They need to.
Richard Sherman
It's different. And then it's. It's the, The. The. The logic of some of the voters. And I hate when they try to explain themselves. They're like, well, you know, Lamar's won the last. If you start any conversation with something from the past influencing your decision. Yeah. About this season, you're wrong. You're dead wrong. Oh, well, he won too many night I don't care. I mean, I don't care if he won 50 of them. If he deserves to win 51, then you give it to him. If that's what the numbers and that's what the tape says, then you give him no award. You don't give it because you're like, hey, somebody else needs to win at this. No, they don't. No, they don't. No, they don't. You don't need to get bored of somebody's greatness. That's why I don't like LeBron and that conversation of him not getting MVPs when he's supposed to, like, people are too sympathetic in his day and age, like, there's nothing wrong with somebody just being dominant. Dominant and us recognizing that. Like, hey, that was honestly, maybe the best season Lamar Jackson has ever had.
Big Play Slay
And he can't.
Richard Sherman
He got two MVPs, and he. He didn't get it. You gave him first team all Pro, but you didn't give him mvp. Like, that's only happened a couple times in, in the National Football League, and it shouldn't have happened, but big play. I just don't see a running back getting it done. I don't see. I don't see them giving it. Not getting it done because I think. I think Jonathan Taylor's getting it done, but I don't see them giving it to a running back. Unfortunately, he'll be offensive player of the year because that's, that's the, The. The standard deal there. Yeah, that's the, the, the backup prize. That's the, you know, second place trophy for anybody who's not going to be MVP or anybody they think probably should have got mvp. But we got to give it to a quarterback, so we'll, we'll give you this consolation prize. But who are the top three running backs you face in your career?
Big Play Slay
In my career, for sure. I mean, I was in the North. Adrian Peterson for sure.
Richard Sherman
Right.
Big Play Slay
And shoot. Another one, man, I ain't. I call him.
Richard Sherman
I ain't.
Big Play Slay
I didn't catch him in his good years. Chris Johnson. I didn't catch him in his great, crazy years. So, no, but shoot. I mean, I played with Saquon, so it's different with that. But, man, it's really. That's tough for me right there. Like, crazy running backs, because the next best one, I kind of went crazy when it gets really was like Matt Forte, you know what I'm saying? Been in Chicago because he was a scat back. He was doing everything.
Richard Sherman
But.
Big Play Slay
But the only Back. I was really, truly, truly ain't gonna lie. Scared of was Marshawn Lynch. I ain't gonna lie. Whenever he played y', all, like, please don't let. Please don't let nobody steal this man to the edge. And he just see I was gonna be scared. I ain't gonna lie.
Richard Sherman
Yeah, yeah. You got to find a way to get him. And he got wide legs, so you can't just chop it around.
Big Play Slay
Okay. He jumped right over that boy. So. And. But. But see, Chris McCaffen, though, he in there, too. So I just. I just say them.
Richard Sherman
I'll just add him before I would say. I would say ap and obviously Marshawn to be in there for me. He. He. I. I didn't. I did face him because I played in San Francisco, and so I can count him ap Marshawn, and probably Derek Henry. Derek Henry was a. Was a lot for us to deal with that day. Yeah, you know, it's. It's just not that many running backs with that kind of longevity and that kind of, you know, that you. Because you could say Le'Veon. Le'Veon had some good years in there, but, you know, I could say Frank Gore. Frank Gore deserves to be in that conversation. Yeah, we had some tough games against him.
Big Play Slay
Man was crazy, though. God, I forgot about Le'Veon. Oh, my God. He was my draft class. That boy was stupid. Nice.
Richard Sherman
Jesus. Super crazy. Yeah. Yeah, he was crazy. He was crazy. It's so much parody in the NFL right now. It's so much parody. Like, I. I can't predict it. Like, so many games you go in, you're like, I think this is a win for this team. Like, they. They won the last two, and then you turn around, and they've lost, like, the Buffalo Bills losing two in a row to. Who did they lose to? They lost to the Patriots, and he lost to the Falcons. And you're like, well, I couldn't. I could not have predicted that. There's nothing in the analytics. There's nothing in. On the tape where you're like, oh, man, they gonna struggle in these two games. And then you got like, Philadelphia Eagles. We talked about that. They lost to who they lose to. They lost to the Giants. Giants. And then they lost.
Big Play Slay
They lost to Denver.
Richard Sherman
Broncos. Yeah, Denver. The Broncos. Fourth quarter comeback.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Broncos.
Richard Sherman
Broncos. They find a way.
Big Play Slay
Look, I did not know the fourth. I did not know the score was 8 to 26 or something like that with, like, six minutes left in the game.
Richard Sherman
Like, that's.
Big Play Slay
That's crazy. Oh, Dada. I'd have been a part of some comebacks, but. And got beat by foe. But not like that. Not like, not that. Not big. Not that small of a gap. Like, boy, I know. Cause I've been on offense that take at least three minutes off the clock. That must mean. Boy, they was taking 30 seconds off the clock. Three and out of Beatles.
Richard Sherman
Yeah, they couldn't get nothing going offensively. And then they had that PI call on Riley Moss. I said, come on now, y'. All, y' all don't do it like this, refs. Because first off, these under thrown footballs are getting ridiculous. He turning around, looking for the ball, putting his hand. Like what else do you like? What? There's nothing else you could expect him to do. The receiver grabbing him like he don't. If I knew the ball was under throne, then I would turn around and catch it.
Big Play Slay
Catch it. That's the thing I hate about this. That's why. That's the only thing I hate about DBs about us playing DB. Because they reward these quarterbacks with unthrown balls, bro. And they be like. And, and. And you see the quarterback, they put him on that. They up there, you threw a bad ball that you threw behind him that he came to see. Now you asking for a flag because what, like that's the jump. That's why, that's what. They don't need me being a referee. I need to be officiating.
Richard Sherman
Because under thrown, I wouldn't call none of that.
Big Play Slay
I wouldn't call none of that.
Richard Sherman
None of that.
Big Play Slay
If you, if you, if both y' all can't catch that, it's no call, right?
Richard Sherman
And that. But that's. That. That's the hard part of this game. And I think they're gonna have to find a solution to that. Whether, whether it's. You turn those into 15 yarders. But then it's hard to distinguish which is which or you. You can't call it. You know what I mean? Especially when the DB's getting his head around. You can't call those plays because you're rewarding them for not being effective, for not doing a great job. If they threw it on time and where it's supposed to be, then the receiver doesn't have to come back. But a db, even if you're in good coverage, I don't know, you're stopping. So I'm at full speed, you know the ball's stopping. So unless I looked and located it and saw it get thrown and know, oh, it's. It's it's trajectory is this. I'm not going to see it. So my only thing to do is to either just get out of your way and let you catch it, that's it. Or I'm going to turn around.
Big Play Slay
But I.
Richard Sherman
It's just not realistic. It's not realistic. I'm not just going to let somebody slip by me at the end and I know the ball's in there like so it's just weird. But right now The Colts are the 1 seed in the AFC. The packers are the 1 seed in the NFC. Patriots are 2, Patriots are 2. I'll say that again. The 49ers are 2 in the NFC. Broncos are 3 in AFC. Eagles are 3 in the NFC. Steelers are 4 in the AFC. Bucks are 4 in the NFC. Lions are 5 in the NFC. Bills are 5 in the AFC. Chargers are 6 in the AFC. Seahawks are 6th in the NFC. Rams are 7th in the NFC and Jags are 7th in the AFC. That's big.
Big Play Slay
And that's crazy that hey the NFC for the cause they got a lot of teams that's five and two so that's tough. That's a lot of teams over there, five and two. That's six and seven, right? Yeah, that's dope.
Richard Sherman
That's big.
Big Play Slay
That's a. That's the only thing I hate about that playoff bracket, man. You can have a good ass record boy, you. But you could be the six seed and you over there traveling all year.
Richard Sherman
And they thinking about changing that and I know it was up for debate at the competition committee meeting this year and I think they're going to look to implement that either the next year or the following year. I know it's a point of conversation at least in, in terms of like a 14 win team going to a 9 win team and a 9 win division winner. Like winning your division may not necessarily mean you get in a home game in the future is what they, it's what they said. So they may change the seating. I think that would be a good decision because like you said, I mean you got 14 win teams that didn't win a division because their division is really tough going to nine win teams and nine win teams getting a home game. And it's like what? Well what's the point of the season If I win 14 games and I got to go try go on the road?
Big Play Slay
Oh, what really is the point? Yeah, no, that's bad. That's bad. And they got to fix that, man. But it'll be hard to fix then because then next thing you know, it could be too much. Now everybody go just play for rental records. And then. And then it's like all games matter. Instead of just division games gonna be all running.
Richard Sherman
Right. It's gonna be interesting. It's gonna come down to the wire because every team ain't gonna be five and two down the stretch. But right now it's about tiebreakers and stuff like that. But this form, this tie that the packers have is. Is playing today advantage right now. It's not a loss. So they got four wins and everybody else got five. But they on top because they got the tie. And the Hawks. Yep.
Big Play Slay
Yeah. Yeah, that's.
Richard Sherman
Yeah. Yeah, that's. Yeah, we'll. We'll see how that goes as it continues. But. But I think. I think a lot of these teams on the. On the NFC side are going to be there. I. I think I. I got a feeling the Chargers may fall off because one. One glaring on mission from this AFC side is. Who.
Big Play Slay
Who's. What do you mean by that? Somebody that's just a shocker.
Richard Sherman
Yeah. Somebody that's not there. That is always there.
Big Play Slay
Oh, Kansas City.
Richard Sherman
Yeah.
Big Play Slay
I didn't even hear you not say that name. Oh, I'm thinking you said it. I'm like. I even hear say Kansas City. Yeah, they in there. Somebody got to be removed.
Richard Sherman
Yeah. So I think the Chargers are probably going to be out. Yeah.
Big Play Slay
Yeah.
Richard Sherman
You know, the Jag got a. Their division has gotten tougher with Indianapolis being. You know, it depends on how they play against Indianapolis, but I think the Chargers are going to be out. They. They're missing both tackles. I mean, Joe Alt's going to come back eventually, but their offensive line is depleted. Omarion Hampton is out. Their backs are beat up defensively. They got Khalil Mack back, but it's just a tough road. We got him this week playing Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night. So that. That game will go a long way to determining how this shakes out. But. But I know the Chiefs gonna be in there. If the Chiefs ain't in there and everybody runs it, then color me surprised.
Big Play Slay
I'm talking about look. I'd be surprised. Look, I read I bet my house they in the playoffs.
Richard Sherman
Yeah. I bet the house they're gonna be in playoffs.
Big Play Slay
Yeah.
Richard Sherman
Yeah, that'd be safe money.
Big Play Slay
Real good safe.
