Covino
Find your local station for Cavino and rich@foxsportsradio.com or stream us live every day on the iHeartRadio app by searching FSR we gotta talk about Brett Favor. Ever heard of him?
Rich Davis
Never heard of the 33rd pick of the NFL Draft? The Falcons choose Brett Favor.
Covino
And you know what Brett Favre doing here? I don't remember Orville Redenbacher choosing Brett Favor to the Falcons. I don't remember that.
Rich Davis
I don't Favor.
Covino
And then Chris Berman there with the rescue with the assist, making a joke out of it.
Rich Davis
And then the favor to pick Favre.
Covino
Great job there, Berman. But Brett Favre, the Fall of Favre Untold on Netflix debuted last night. We talked about it briefly yesterday just to hype you up for it, but we all watched it. What are your thoughts? What were your takeaways? And here's what's crazy about life and the news cycle that we live in, especially in today's world, more now than ever, is how quickly you forget. Like, we remember the story, but you don't remember all the details. And when they're compiled into one untold documentary, you're like, yeah, damn, Brett Favre. How do you get away with that?
Rich Davis
Brett Favre is trash.
Covino
Like, yo, man, I know you were a great football player and all, but this good old boy did some shady stuff.
Rich Davis
I think it was best summed up by that Green Bay reporter who was asked to do a story about Brett Favre, the Family man. And he's like, I don't write fiction. That was a great line. It was with our trend of Brett Favre is trash.
Covino
He's trash.
Rich Davis
Um, your takeaways, you know, there's a few. Um, one of them. And. And this wasn't even what made him trash.
Covino
Yeah, like, what did you forget about? What did you learn for the first time. Has your opinion changed? I think it should have. I do. I mean, you could separate the people. He was a great football player.
Rich Davis
Yeah. But gunslinger, as they pointed out 25 times they did.
Covino
And you know what? He did throw harder than the average quarterback.
Rich Davis
Noticeably hard fingers, dude.
Covino
Breaking fingers. You know, great quarterback, but not a great guy. And I think a lot of us chose to forget about that. We did not know, but we were reminded of other things. Even I was watching last night, Rich, and I was like, yeah, I forgot about that part. So what were your takeaways, guys? 877-99-FOX. Let's start off with Rich. 87799 on FOX.
Rich Davis
My big takeaway. That has nothing to do with him being trash. We'll get to that. I absolutely forgot that he adamantly retired twice and then came out of retirement quickly after. I forgot how annoying the I will never play another game.
Covino
We know because he played for the jets and then he played for the Vikings. But you're right, I forgot how it went down as well, because again, we live in the.
Rich Davis
The time of next.
Covino
The next story. What's the next story? And then you move on and you forget a little bit.
Rich Davis
I think we owe Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers an apology because their retirement hoaxes or comebacks or anything. Nothing compared to Brett Favre's double doozy of I'll never play again. Larry. To back and then back again. Like, what a pain in the ass now. And trash, by the way, when you.
Covino
Watch the inappropriate picture portion of the story.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Covino
I was reminded just how much it affected Jen Sturger.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Covino
Like, we knew that. And Rich, you could explain why and how we knew that this. But I forgot that she was doing that much in the industry. Like, she really had a great thing going.
Rich Davis
What I don't want to do is this is not about me. I don't want. I don't want to insert myself. But the reality is I was dating Jen during the time of this happening, and. And Spot, our video guy, was her roommate. So, I mean, when you talk about being close to a story, no one could be closer.
Covino
That's why it was extra weird for us to watch. I was oddly, oddly emotional watching this. I really was. I lack empathy.
Unknown Host
Yeah, Rich. Rich and Spot should have been in this documentary.
Rich Davis
I mean, I'm not even joking. You know, maybe me.
Covino
Cause there were two, like, they had biased opinions. Throw me in there.
Rich Davis
You know what was in this documentary? My living room and my plant, which I still have.
Covino
That's right.
Rich Davis
That we. Kavito and I were like, wait a minute, is that your plant?
Covino
So trust our perspectives, and we'd love to hear yours. 87799 on Fox. Because we've known her for years. Rich really knew her on a different level. Spot lived with her. She was a frequent guest on our show, and it was a sad time. But like I said, being so close, I knew her as Jen, and I knew she loved sports, and I knew she was doing cool stuff. But when you see it compiled, all the things that she did and the path she created and the opportunity she created for herself, you're like, damn, man. One guy's wiener shot got in the way of all of that momentum. That's a shame.
Rich Davis
And I said to Cavino, to give an analogy, who does it better than me? Maybe Colin stars.
Covino
Just because you label yourself the guy with the analogies doesn't make you the best at them.
Rich Davis
Eventually, it gets in your head.
Covino
I think we all give analogies.
Rich Davis
No, mine are the best. I said to Cavino, that would be like if. When your career was just starting to. Starting to take off.
Covino
I'm still waiting for it to take off.
Rich Davis
When we were in the early days of Maxim and SiriusXM, when our show was really starting to gain some steam, that would be like, in that moment, a girl sent you a boob pic, and because of that, your career got derailed. Nah.
Covino
Yeah. That's not fair, man. Doesn't seem.
Rich Davis
Doesn't seem fair now, does it?
Covino
No, not at all. And I think we were completely reminded at what a different time it was, and I wish they brought this point home more. We made this point yesterday, but let's repeat it again. That happened in today's world. It would never go down like that.
Rich Davis
It.
Covino
It just wouldn't. And I understand that Brett Favre was a football God, and still is to a lot of people, but what he did was wrong. And in today's world, you know, Jen would have been a victim, and Brett Favre would have had to answer a lot of questions back then.
Rich Davis
But back then, they pushed her aside, and he was a hero, which is.
Covino
Terrible, as Jen said, she lost her show. She had a TV show that was canceled, and Brett Favre was inducted into the hall of Fame, and his life went on, and he was the greatest. And he's doing Copperfit sock commercials, right? So it's like, it didn't affect him, but it completely affected her. Today's world, the MeToo movement happened. Anytime someone missteps or does something crazy like that, it's Big news, man. And. And. And you're canceled, dude. Brett Favre was still a hero.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Covino
And unfortunately, Jen paid the price and her career took a hit as a result.
Rich Davis
And. And to fast forward to the second part of the documentary, probably rich.
Covino
It probably affected your relationship.
Rich Davis
I mean, no doubt that's a whole.
Covino
Other weird discussion there.
Rich Davis
Friendships. I mean. Yeah, it. Listen, it's an awful scenario. And you know who doesn't get enough blame? That dirt bag at Deadspin, that AJ guy. Because, you know, had he not blown up the story about Jen receiving the lewd text and everything, then it would have just been an awful experience for her that she would have had to remember and have dealt with. But by him exploiting that and blowing it up and paying someone to hack her, which is next level douchebaggery.
Covino
What's cool about this untold documentary is that she had the receipts. Because even if you were close to the story, even if you paid close attention to the story, there was still a part of you that thought, really, she was hacked. Come on. You know? Or you had this impression that maybe she was flirty with Brett Favre, but you learn right from the source that she never even met the guy.
Rich Davis
And that was always the thing.
Covino
That's a big revelation.
Rich Davis
That was always the thing that Covino, Spot and myself always found wild from knowing Jen very well, because people would.
Covino
Assume that because she was a good.
Rich Davis
Looking girl, Jen's a great person. And I think people would assume she.
Covino
Was looking for opportunity.
Rich Davis
I think that one of the biggest takeaways is that you're right. We knew it because again, we're close to the story at the time, but we always knew that, you know, Jen had never met him, never shook his hand, and he was just a creep trying to kick it to her.
Covino
I remember that, but I forgot.
Rich Davis
And the fact that they've never met and he so cavalierly is like, yeah, whatever. Like Kai is. What did I say? Brad Farve is trash. The guy's a piece of ass. Really. And to be honest.
Covino
Piece of ass.
Rich Davis
No, S. Oh, he's no piece of ass.
Covino
I was gonna say. I never heard it used like that.
Rich Davis
He's got a little dinky too.
Covino
You'd be like, that guy's cheese.
Rich Davis
If I. If my dinky was that small, you would never send it to anyone. Any wore Crocs in the photo. What a loser.
Covino
That was a little tiny black box that they used to cover it up.
Rich Davis
If they're gonna blurt out your penis on tv, you hope they Use a bigger box than, like, tiny little box.
Covino
So again, we understand how the public probably viewed it. Jen was sexy. She's a good looking girl. Oh, she was probably flirting with Brett Favre. Even George Stephanopoulos.
Rich Davis
What' Snuffleuppagus. George Snuffleupagus.
Covino
Even Snuffleupagus was insinuating that it was probably flattering. Right, Jen? I mean, it is Brett Favre. She's like, no, not at all, you bozo.
Rich Davis
What a loser.
Covino
She wasn't looking for that because she really was trying to make the most of her opportunities in the sports world.
Dan Byer
What's up, DB I thought that her comeback, which was. You're insinuating that I would be flattered. Was so biting. And granted, it happened how many years ago, but that was probably the second biggest part of that documentary where you take a step back but just agree.
Rich Davis
The time and place we're in, that a reporter on ABC Nightly News would insinuate. I mean, Jenny, are you flattered that one of the best quarterbacks of all time sent you his junk? Like, are you out of your mind?
Dan Byer
Yeah. Yeah. This is so easy. This is so interesting, considering your connection. I'm not connected to Brett Favre, but I was born and raised in Wisconsin. The first game that he appeared in with the packers, that they put in this documentary, I was at against the.
Unknown Host
Cincinnati Bengals with that 92 yard drive.
Rich Davis
It was, what a performer, what a gutsy football player. The separation, you know, it's wild to.
Dan Byer
Me then in my broadcasting career, you know, like, throughout Favre's later days, the retirement stuff that you mentioned of, like, there were not only, like two official retirements, there was the one that he announced with Green Bay and the one that he announced with the Jets. It was also the previous two or three seasons where he always hinted it and wanted people to be like, come back. Yeah. But there was never a full announcement by it. But it is interesting because I was even asked what I thought about the documentary. And first of all, I don't think it even should be a Favre documentary. I figured that there was so much of Jen Sturger on it and that story, and not that the welfare stuff was just kind of put at the end, but it was so, so dramatic. But also this line of this timeline of Favre was kind of felt by, I think, a lot of the people that had backed him. And when he went to the Vikings, he no longer had that. That aura around him from Packer fans. So everything that was wrong that he would do wrong you would be like, oh, okay, maybe he isn't the guy that we thought he was. And so when she says, if people are telling you who they are, you know, believe them. I think that summed up the whole thing. I actually think it's. I didn't learn a lot about Favre in that scenario coming from where I came from, but man, like he's just, yeah, just not a good guy.
Rich Davis
Listen, as, as someone, like we said, who knew Jen well, knows Jen to us, I hope there is some redemption for her. I hope this leads to a cool opportunity and someone saying, hey, this, this woman got her, you know, her career shot down because of this. Maybe someone gives her a chance. Now, I thought another telling quote, Dan Byer was from former packers coach Mike Sherman. I mean, he didn't say it, but it was quoted in the documentary where Brett Favre felt so invincible at one point where he went rogue on a play and Mike Sherman was furious on the sideline. And far as attitude was like, what are you going to do? What are you going to do? Was the attitude towards his head coach. And listen, when you, when you win a Super bowl for a small market team like that, who is so thirsty since the BART star early Vince Lombardi days, of course this guy's going to be hero. And Brett Favre on the field can't take away from the fact that he was a warrior, a gunslinger, one of the toughest SOBs to ever wear a football uniform. But off the field, it seems like we got to see what this dude's all about.
Covino
We haven't even gotten into the volleyball stadium story yet that Dan touched on, but that's just another layer of what.
Rich Davis
I hope it was a nice court.
Covino
What a trash bag story this is.
Rich Davis
Hope it had a nice net.
Covino
And again, it made me oddly emotional because of the impact it had on so many people and so many lives. Especially Jen's like, and at the time too, maybe, because at the time when we heard about this, yo, look, I'm just a stupid young man at the time, right?
Rich Davis
This is 15 years old, 20 something year old guy.
Covino
I'm like, what? Brent Favre?
Rich Davis
What? No way.
Covino
Not understanding or realizing the ramifications that would eventually come of it, you know, and ruin poor Jen's career and everything. And now she has this reputation and the stigma and again, we know it, but when you see it laid out that way, you see how much it affected her and other people and you're like, man, this is terrible.
Rich Davis
Why do you think Mike Vick, by the way, was he there to be like, hey, I effed with some dogs and you hate me. And this guy does all this like, what was the.
Covino
Oh, I think it's the opposite. It's like here I was the most hated dude and now, now people have accept accepted me and I've moved forward. And you're going to hate Brett Favre even more than you hated me.
Unknown Host
He started the contribution as. This is what it's like being a quarterback in the South, a legendary quarterback.
Covino
Yeah, I think it was like, you think what I did was bad? Wait till you get a load of this guy.
Rich Davis
As Peter Griffith would say on Family Guy, you think that's bad?
Unknown Host
Michael Vick said the system is rigged. And so, you know, if you are Brett Favre, you can get away with some of that.
Covino
Okay, so now here's what I was also reminded of. Your takeaways from the fall of Farve controversial Netflix documentary number one today. We told you to watch it last night. Gave you a homework assignment. Now we want to get to your phone calls and feedback again. Completely. Remember the Jan thing? We sort of lived it. Spot was living with her. Rich and her were together. She was a friend of all of ours and, you know, still in contact today. I totally forgot Rich about other jets employees coming out afterward, other masseuses and people saying that he was sending them the same sort of message.
Rich Davis
My hotel and I'm horned up.
Unknown Host
Yeah, honestly, he said I have bad intentions.
Rich Davis
Yeah, I did forget about that.
Covino
I completely forgot about that part of the story. Just, you know, adding so much, so much to what he was really about and got away with it. That's the thing. He was unscathed for all these years. So your takeaways, we get to your phone calls and feedback and we're going to take you back to the year 2000, way back on a Wednesday, the last time the Knicks were in the Eastern Conference finals. What else was going on in year 2001? So we're gonna.
Rich Davis
We're gonna take you back 25 years.
Covino
So we're Kavino and Rich, Iowa. Sam's on the ones and twos. Danny G. Super producing Spot Sturger's ex roommate is getting ready for midweek major. And we're Kavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio.
Rich Davis
Not to make light of that terrible.
Covino
Story and, you know, hope making light.
Rich Davis
As we said, Jen hopefully gets some redemption out of this.
Covino
I think she will.
Rich Davis
Spot. No jokes here. Probably one of the first people to see the terrible text from far because they were roommates.
Covino
Okay, so here's A question that we were asked earlier today on our Patreon. Did you guys see the pic spot? Do you remember the first time you saw the pick?
Unknown Guest
I do.
Covino
I.
Unknown Guest
For some, for some reason I remember like, I don't know, MySpace being, I don't know, something.
Rich Davis
It was.
Covino
Yeah, yeah.
Unknown Guest
So I did see the pick.
Covino
I saw it.
Unknown Guest
It was probably on a flip phone.
Covino
Yeah, I saw it on a phone like, what Crocs.
Rich Davis
And, and again, again, the reality is it would have just been dirtbag hall of famer, sent our friend an inappropriate text and we kept that secret for.
Covino
Like a year and a half. Right.
Rich Davis
Because it was, no, it was not our business to share. It was a private story. And it was that Deadspin guy that I think he's a big part of what ruined Jen's life.
Unknown Host
He is. And one thing you didn't point out, Rich, after he leaked that a lot of the narrative in the media is why she coming out with this now? She didn't come out exactly, but that was the narrative.
Covino
Yeah, again, because she was a good looking girl and we just had that way of thinking back then. It was a different time. And Brett Favre's a hero. How dare you. So what did you learn? What were your takeaways? And of course, we're giving away prizes on this show today, so stick around. We're going to play some Mike's Wednesday words of wisdom and midweek major. But right now, live from the Fox Sports Radio studio.
Dan Byer
What up, DB not to, not to share stories, but I think that there's just something that you guys said that you guys knew about this for a year and not that you never really thought anything of it, but that also tells you, I think that everybody here probably has a story about someone who was famous through some connection of a family member or yourself that makes you look at someone else in a little different light than maybe what the general public does for the famous person.
Rich Davis
No doubt.
Dan Byer
But that also then tells you on to Jen Sturger's problem of how difficult it is to shake that. Or for Brett Favre to say, what are you gonna do about it? Like, that's like that. It's that shield around this, the famous.
Covino
Person, or the abuse of power. It's like Jen said in that special, like he was a football God and she was a freelance worker for the Jets.
Rich Davis
Leverage.
Covino
Yeah, it was so much leverage clout. It was a different time. It's sad to see. And Dan, speaking of that timeline, I was reminded yesterday, again, I knew, but I forgot that this all started to unfurl and unfold when he was with the Vikings, that's when he was dodging those questions, not when he was with the Jets.
Rich Davis
The reality is, like you said, there's people that tell secrets. I. We've never been the type of show that if we get wind of something, we want to break salacious news. I feel like that's scumbag behavior. I really do. I'm not gonna, I won't even say the person on our show. One time at Sirius xm, we did a pre taped interview. We interviewed a celebrity before our show.
Covino
Famous guy.
Rich Davis
Famous guy that everybody knows. And he referenced his boyfriend. And Covino chuckled like, he goes, oh, no. I. The guy was like, I'm gay. You know, I've never actually said that. And then after the interview he said.
Covino
He had never been asked.
Rich Davis
Yeah. And he's like, I was just. He was very comfortable with us. After the interview, his PR people said, hey, listen, you could do what you want, but he would prefer if you don't mind taking that little part out. It was not our place to, in my mind, to out him. I love that because that's such the opposite of like the tabloids. Like you guys just held on to that.
Covino
What happened in this story with that guy from dead center.
Rich Davis
To me, since the celebrity attention, you guys are like, no, since the celebrity has come out openly gay now. But we knew back in the day and again I felt like it would have been a lame ass move to be like, we're going to be the ones that out you. I feel like that's a bad characteristic and we will never be those people.
Dan Byer
But I think the point, like I. A buddy of mine was at a college where an NFL team held a training camp years ago and saw one of their star players leave next door at like 2am where there was a house full of girls.
Rich Davis
Oh.
Dan Byer
And so I've never looked at that player the same because I know that story.
Rich Davis
I knew someone that. But same thing.
Dan Byer
That's the point. Like, I think everybody has those stories.
Rich Davis
I know someone. Again, I won't call people, but I know someone that worked for the Mets. And you know, I'm a big Mets fan. There was a player that kept getting banged up with injuries and I'm like, oh man, they can't shake this hamstring thing. And someone said, well, if they weren't out drinking and drugging until three in the morning, I'm like, that's what they're doing.
Covino
Sure.
Rich Davis
And in my mind they were just really Trying to rehab that leg. And they're like, no, no, they party every night and they're never going to get better because they're just.
Covino
And that guy was Mr. Met.
Dan Byer
But think about how many people know that story and also didn't out it.
Rich Davis
Yeah, like that's.
Dan Byer
That's the crazy thing about it.
Rich Davis
I know some people, I. You could argue that having integrity works against you in our world. I rather have it.
Covino
So it's number one today. The fall of Farve.
Rich Davis
Wishing Jen the best. Wishing the Mississippi people the best.
Covino
Yeah. And that's the other part of the story. The guy ended up with $1.1 million to himself. Yeah, to himself. Not just the. Again, reminded of that.
Unknown Host
Yeah. Once he found out that he could get that money, he went back for more.
Covino
This was money that was supposed to be used for the poorest of poor people in Mississippi. And these are really poor people. And the majority of the money went to his daughter's stupid volleyball stadium. And then 1.1 million went to himself.
Unknown Host
Yeah. They said a single mom with two kids in that state at the time could get. And this was just a few years ago, could get. What was it? $300 a month?
Covino
Yeah, like 260 something.
Unknown Host
Something like that. Yeah.
Rich Davis
But fars kids needs new nets on their volleyball.
Covino
But here's the thing, Rich. We remember the gist of it. We remember like, oh, yeah, the volleyball thing. 1.1 in his own pocket. Like he didn't have enough.
Unknown Host
The text messages where he was asking. Asking the politician who helped him get the money.
Covino
Yeah.
Unknown Host
Can I get caught doing this?
Covino
By the way, the receipts were so key in this documentary because if you had any speculation on Sturge or. Or that story, it put it to rest.
Rich Davis
I promise you, all the proof was there. I promise you this. If your husband, wife, boyfriend, or girlfriend or someone goes, hey, can I get caught if I do blank. They're about to do some scandalous crap. Like that's just. You don't say, can I get caught doing this? Are you a cop? Are you a cop? I got to ask first. You don't preface that. Yeah, you don't preface that. If you talk to a girl in Vegas and she goes, you're not a cop, are you? You know what she's doing. I mean, people only ask if they could get in trouble if they're doing something wrong.
Covino
Let's wrap it up. Your takeaways from this documentary. By the way, Two good documentaries this week. This one and Pee Wee Herman on Friday.
Rich Davis
I can't wait I'm excited for that. For real.
Covino
Can't wait. That's on max. But your phone calls now to wrap it up. 87799 on Fox.
Rich Davis
Let's go to Miami. What's up Miami? Seth, you're on with Cavino and Rich.
Caller
Hey guys, how's it going? Little hot take for you. A little bit of fire. Yeah, look, I don't think it's a far issue. I think it's a societal issue. I think we all understand that.
Producer
Right?
Caller
You know.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Caller
When you think about your, your integrity and your morals throughout, you know, keep it with this country. I worked in an industry similar to your guys industry where a lot of personalities, a lot of talent has to have a little bit more besides you know, a know how.
Unknown Host
Right.
Caller
So I'm not again what happened to to that woman is absolutely terrible. And yeah, Brett park should be held accountable. Should, you know, obviously we face some criminal alle. But in your guys's industry and we'll just speak within your guys entertainment industry, how much does you know especially from, from the female mentality, the female portion of it. Do you have to sacrifice knowing that you are going to be able to make a little bit of headway based off of your looks and things like that and knowing that we're hanging a carrot, we're essentially dangling carrots in front of, you know, these savages. I mean we're all, you know, we know we're all men here. We know how we can be. So just taking that in consideration, that.
Rich Davis
Is, that is a layer of it. Like David mentioned, like, you know, when she was working for the jets, like the guy was like security. You're going to throw her in the stands with a bunch of savage fans. Like, yeah, listen, it's just a reminder to check yourself as a grown man.
Covino
Like how hard it is too. It's a reminder of how hard it is for women to deal in this boys club of sports and broadcasting. But how far it's come too because when you look around now there's nothing but beautiful women hosting these shows and broadcasting in the world of sports. And another thought I had Rich watching this and we'll wrap it up with one more phone call though was like, you know, Jen is a person. She's not just a picture or sexy beautiful woman that she described herself as on the show. She's a person. And imagine her dad like we met her dad, we knew her dad. Imagine your daughter, your kid who you love hits sort of the life lottery and Musburger points her out and she Gets this great opportunity only to be ruined because some guy decided to do that. Like, just from a parental perspective. Yeah, forget about Rich, you know, dating her and Spot living with her. Like, from a parental perspective.
Rich Davis
How does his.
Covino
His dad must want to karate.
Rich Davis
Karate cha.
Covino
Brett Favre in the. In the beanbag. Like, that's his infuriating.
Rich Davis
Very small beanbag. Yeah, I. You know, it's. As a dad, I hear what Kavino saying. Think about that, Danny, you got kids. Imagine if you're one of 80,000 people at a game, if your kid's career got sidetracked because of some pervy guy of power. You'd be furious. Yeah. All right, let's say hi to Deacon in Houston, wrap this up, and we'll go to DB for an update. What's up, Deacon?
Caller
Hey, what's up, fellas?
Rich Davis
What I love.
Caller
Listen to the show, man. Farm's been a jerk for a long time, and a lot of us have known it. But I wanted. What I want to do. I didn't realize about this Deadspin dude, this AJ Guy. I didn't realize any of that at the time. And what I wanted to say, man, many times have we seen in this new world somebody get canceled for something they did 10, 15, 20 years ago, bro. It's never too late to hold a jerk accountable for ruining somebody's life. And you guys have just the platform to do it. You don't.
Rich Davis
Dude, if there should be someone that is held accountable now, Brett Favre and the AJ dude from Deadspin should be, you know. Should be, you know, held accountable. They was going to say the worst, but they should be held accountable. I would not.
Unknown Host
For the career losses that she's taken far. Should have to pay her.
Rich Davis
No doubt. And I think that if Deadspin wasn't already gone, didn't they. Aren't they canceled because of Hulk Hogan? Right. No, that was Gawker. Deadspin still around. It just got bought by a different company. It just doesn't have the same profile. But I believe. Were you talking about when Gawker released, like, a sex tape with Hulk Hogan?
Covino
Yeah. Yeah.
Rich Davis
They went out of business.
Covino
They went.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Covino
You know, you were also reminded of all those websites at that time in the early 2000, which she's talking about MySpace and all these other things that were going on.
Rich Davis
By the way, the two. Is it me or the. The 2000? Are they starting to feel like more of a time capsule? You know, when you look back now, you're like, oh, at the time, you don't feel like it's much different than now. And you're like, oh, look at the flip phones and the MySpace.
Covino
We're going to take you back to the year 2000. Who was in your top eight? We're going to take you back later.
Rich Davis
Today we will go over that, but let's go to danbay for an update. Hey DB DB what's up bud?
Dan Byer
Guys, Cam Ward wasn't born in the year. It wasn't until May 25, 2002 that the Titans quarterback was born. But today he signed his rookie deal. 4 years, $48.75 million fully guaranteed first overall.
Rich Davis
Crazy to put in perspective because remember there were some Mel Kiper that thought Chador should have been the top dog 4 years 40 something versus 4 year. 4 million is a big difference.
Dan Byer
Yeah, the decibel point was moving one spot to the right for Cam War signs his rookie deal today.

Let's go back to the year 2000.
Covino
There's a surge.
Rich Davis
What we gonna do right here is go back.
Unknown Host
What are you doing? Sam, it's not Thursday.
Covino
Back into time.
Unknown Host
We are going back in time for a Thursday.
Rich Davis
It's not Thursday, Sam.
Unknown Host
When 50 hits.
Rich Davis
It'S not Thursday.
Unknown Host
Today's Wednesday.
Unknown Guest
It's midweek. Sam, we're. Sam, it's Wednesday.
Unknown Host
We're just flashing back because the Knicks are in the Eastern Conference.
Unknown Guest
Like, I know it's 50 after, but I get it.
Rich Davis
No, I was totally thrown off. I don't know. I needed a minute to collect myself and wait. Yeah, it's not Thursday.
Unknown Host
Yeah, that's coming up up on tomorrow's show. So don't miss. Don't miss Kovino and Rich tomorrow on Thursday at 50 after.
Rich Davis
You know what they call that in the broadcasting world? That's a horizontal tease for what's coming up tomorrow. I was. Sam, way to preview our throwback Thursday segment tomorrow.
Covino
Tomorrow we throw it back.
Rich Davis
You're screwing with me because it's like it's. The day is different, but everything else is the same.
Unknown Guest
We tried to stop you about 10 times and you kept going.
Covino
We're just going way back on a Wednesday, Sam. Because in the years 2000.
Unknown Host
Yeah. Can you guys name off there two reality TV shows that debuted in the year 2000?
Covino
Well, I know one of them.
Rich Davis
Let me tell you, Danny G. This is a little unfair because you're talking to Captain 2000.
Unknown Host
So I love 2K over there.
Rich Davis
You know, I'm the main voice on SiriusXM.
Unknown Host
Someone other than Rich.
Rich Davis
Go ahead.
Covino
And Rich still shops at structure, so. Yeah, he knows. He knows a lot about it. Rich still gets his wardrobe from Arapah Style. So, yeah, we. We know Rich is the King Captain 2000 himself. One of them is the real world, right? No, no, no.
Unknown Host
Two other network shows.
Rich Davis
Yeah, 1992.
Unknown Guest
The network show.
Covino
Wait, no. But yeah, these were both anniversary.
Unknown Host
These were both on big network.
Unknown Guest
Survivor.
Unknown Host
Yes, yes, yes. Survivor debuted. And by the way, there's now been 733 contestants in 48 seasons. Okay, what's the other one?
Unknown Guest
Is the Osbornes one of them?
Unknown Host
No.
Covino
Nope.
Unknown Host
The other one, Brother.
Covino
Oh.
Rich Davis
And you know what else?
Covino
And the golden power of veto.
Rich Davis
Am I also correct in saying who wants to be a Millionaire?
Unknown Guest
That was late 90s. That was 99, I believe.
Rich Davis
2,000.
Unknown Host
It's not on my list, but it was the 99.
Unknown Guest
2,000.
Unknown Host
All right. This movie just had launched. It was in the midst of an epic run. It was nominated for a whopping 12 Oscars at the 73rd Academy Awards in the year 2000. Yes. And we talked about this actor just last week on our show.
Unknown Guest
Not Sir Nicolas Cage. No, the other guy. Christian Bale. It wasn't Batman.
Unknown Host
No, not Christian Bale. I'm sorry, I was getting confused with Bale and this actor. Both. Both have stories about getting hot on the set. I'll give you that clue.
Covino
Oh, Mel Gibson.
Unknown Host
No.
Unknown Guest
Oh.
Rich Davis
I think we all need to mentally reset, like I was saying.
Unknown Host
I know, right?
Rich Davis
Still doing that right now.
Unknown Host
All right, well, we'll tease it for the other side because we're also going to do the music, the top 40 list. I think Rich will nail some of the top 40 songs that were at the top of the charts.
Rich Davis
We'll do that next. Plus Mahomes new presence. And hey, midweek major coming up.
Covino
Since the year 2000. And I have to say, on a total side note, I think it's so cool how the old school Knicks have banded together to root on the younger guys. I love when teams do that. It's cool to see that fraternity of players, these players coming together, all these players that were part of good teams. They were all stopped by Jordan and they're rooting on guys like Sprewell, Alan, Houston, Starks. All these guys coming together to watch these young dudes play is awesome to me.
Rich Davis
Besides the legends coming out to see the Knicks now, Danny, this is no insult to you. You're a die hard, true to the bone Lakers fan.
Unknown Host
Yeah. But I've told you before how I had a soft spot for the Knicks.
Rich Davis
When I look at the Garden versus Crypto, formerly Staples, there's a sense to me that when celebrities go to the Lakers game. It's to look at me. I'm here, right? Like a lot of them, other than Jack, who historically was always there. To me, it's a lot of look at me. When I see celebrities at Knicks games like Ben Stiller and Chalamet and Tracy Morgan and Spike Lee, I feel like they are so invested. Like you and I, where you go to, you see other like Lakers super.
Covino
Fans, the trail Sprewell's invested. Yeah, I just did. There's a sense Charles Oakley's invest.
Rich Davis
There's a sense of fun going on at Madison Square Garden right now. And man, you know, the Pacers want to rude that fun that goes down tonight.
Covino
Speaking of the history and all those old school players, Reggie Miller will be there. So exciting game tonight. But they weren't in the Eastern Conference finals since the year 2000. What was going on in the year 2000?
Unknown Host
Yeah.
Rich Davis
Thank you, Conan.
Unknown Host
All right. The number one movie, like I said, it was nominated for a lot of Oscars, made a ton of money. I think the second most money worldwide that year. And I'm sorry, Bale didn't look like Bale in that Al Davis picture, so that threw me off. Here's a better clue for you guys. He was born in New Zealand. The movie was set in 180 AD. He's famous for having a fit where he threw a telephone.
Rich Davis
Oh, Gladiator.
Unknown Host
Ah, thank you. Gladiator was the number one movie when the Knicks were last in the Eastern Conference.
Rich Davis
Wow.
Covino
The second one came out. It sort of fizzled recently.
Unknown Host
And think of how many years we had to wait for the sequel.
Rich Davis
24, to be exact. Last year came out right.
Covino
It was entertaining things at first, and then, I don't know, just sort of went away.
Rich Davis
Didn't it? Definitely didn't live up to the first one.
Unknown Host
All right, technology advancements. Sony released the PlayStation 2.
Covino
Oh, Crash Bandicoot.
Unknown Host
Yeah. And we were in the middle of the 2000 US presidential election between George W. Bush and Al Gore.
Rich Davis
We learned about hanging chads.
Unknown Host
Yes. Thank you. So close that there was a disputed vote count in Florida and the outcome was not determined for over a month, leading to a recount in a Supreme Court case.
Rich Davis
You know what else was popular in the year 2000? Danny, you could play along. You ready?
Unknown Host
Yep.
Rich Davis
What's up? What up was that?
Covino
That was 2000.
Rich Davis
That was the biggest commercial for Budweiser.
Covino
Wow. That's crazy.
Unknown Host
All right, which artist had the number one song on the pop charts? On the Billboard 100, I got the top 30 in front of me so you guys could take a shot at the top 40.
Covino
Is this last one standing? Yeah, I know I wasn't prepared for this.
Rich Davis
And by the way, you probably had a lot of these on Napster in the year 2000.
Covino
No.
Dan Byer
DB Mambo, number five. Remember that one?
Rich Davis
Of course I do. But I think that was a little before that.
Unknown Guest
That was a 90s.
Rich Davis
A little bit of Jessica on my side.
Unknown Host
I'll give you a clue for the number one song. He actually sings his own name in this song.
Rich Davis
I know. In the year 2000, a lot of the charts revolved around the reemergence of Carlos Santana.
Unknown Host
There you go. Maria. Maria was number one.
Covino
And of course, that was the number.
Unknown Host
One song of the year when they were in the Eastern conference finals in May 2000.
Covino
Oh, that's the Times.
Rich Davis
Is that from Supernatural?
Unknown Host
This is the top 30 through May 2000.
Covino
That was a big comeback for Carlos Santana, for sure.
Rich Davis
Well, just, you know, our parents got Black Magic Woman and Oyeko mova. And then 20 plus years later, he did a song with Rob Thomas. Oh, shit. Tons of duets.
Unknown Host
I was just gonna say Richie had Smooth, also in the top 20. That was number 18 at the time.
Rich Davis
Rob Thomas, he had Game of Love with Michelle Branch. He just had a ton of hits. Santana.
Covino
All right, but wasn't it also like a boy band era around that time?
Unknown Host
Number seven is a big boy band.
Covino
Okay, I'll go with NSync.
Unknown Host
Yep. Bye bye bye.
Covino
There it is, 2000.
Unknown Host
And a song you guys like to tell the story about. About how the song came about has to do with undergarment.
Rich Davis
Yeah. Cisco, the thong song.
Unknown Host
Yeah. Number four.
Rich Davis
That was a big song. By the way.
Dan Byer
You guys dismissed my mambo number five. Like, I was way off.
Rich Davis
It was 99. Right.
Dan Byer
I was April 99. So, like, we're only nine months away.
Covino
I didn't. And Rich did. He's very popular. Pompous.
Rich Davis
What do you. Why? Because every day when I don't do this, I'm recording for Pop 2K and I know that song doesn't pop up. So I just knew with certainty it was such a big song that if I've never played it on Sirius XM, it was definitely not 2000.
Covino
I was still around that era being played.
Dan Byer
I had to. I was. Danny talks about his DJing days. I didn't DJ like Danny, but I did have to DJ weddings and school dances. And I played a lot of Mambo Number five at that point. So that's where it was based. Also a lot Of Bye Bye Bye at that time.
Covino
Yeah, yeah. But by the year 2000, I think it was mambo number six. So you were wrong.
Rich Davis
Sorry, Dan.
Covino
Yeah, Sorry, Dan. Like a year behind.
Rich Davis
Which.
Unknown Host
Which hip hop song do you guys think I was playing the most in the club in the year 2000? Number one, I kind of guess from the ATL. Yep.
Rich Davis
Oh, I was going to say my. My guesses must be wrong. Then I was going to say maybe a little Destiny's Child.
Unknown Host
Destiny's Child is on the top 40. Top 10. They were number five with say my Name and. And yeah, Sam is right. Outkast was the top of the hip hop R and B chart with so Fresh, so Clean.
Rich Davis
You said Atlanta and I was like, outkast. What about in the world of music back then? That was a little. That was one of the first country crossovers. Faith Hill had a big year back then.
Unknown Host
Number three, her hit song, Breathe.
Rich Davis
Breathe. Yeah, that was a big one back then. You know, in the year 2000, I.
Covino
Was wearing Jinkos, bro. I would have my PlayStation in my back pocket in case I wanted to bust out a game of Tekken 2.
Rich Davis
I got to give you guys a trivia question. What percentage of Americans do you think had the Internet in 2000, when the Knicks were last in the Eastern Conference finals? What percentage of Americans had Internet in their house?
Covino
I definitely had that dial up going on for sure.
Rich Davis
You got mail.
Covino
Yeah, I had that. So it's probably a lot lower than we think. I don't know. 2%.
Rich Davis
Now you're way over 2%.
Dan Byer
18.
Rich Davis
No, 41%. So like 6 out of 10 people did not have Internet.
Covino
That's crazy.
Rich Davis
Let me hit you with another.
Covino
And mom would pick up the phone and ruin your connection.
Rich Davis
It was a good year for a couple of people in this room. Danny G. The first of a three peep by your Lakers.
Unknown Host
Yeah.
Rich Davis
And Cavino. The Yankees beat my Mets in the subway series.
Covino
Of course.
Rich Davis
Remember that weak sauce?
Unknown Host
Game 7 against the Trailblazers for the Lakers. Remember? To get to the Finals.
Rich Davis
It was also the year. Hold on. I have my little. My little sheet I use for pop 2k. See what I got here.
Covino
It's really interesting to look back, though, for real, because for me personally, I know Rich lives in the 2000s when he does his countdowns and stuff. It doesn't have much of an identity for me when it comes to this stuff. Like when I have references, a lot of mine come from the 90s grunge era. So actually like 2000, I'm like, I.
Rich Davis
Don'T know, the 2000s were very, like, it was the early days of social media, Internet, stuff like that. And the 2000s, very identified by, like, your flip phones and your. And like your.
Covino
Yeah, but actual 2000, I'm. I'm a little confused. I have to take myself. I'm in college. You're right. I'm playing PlayStation. I was listening to Third Eye Blind. Still, like, what year was that cove?
Unknown Host
Number 16 on the top 40 Billboard chart. Here, a song. The Ranger, a group the Rangers brought back to prominence. And you interviewed them with all Holmes wide open. Higher. Number 16.
Rich Davis
Wow.
Covino
Yeah. So that's the Creed era.
Unknown Host
Red Hot Chili Peppers. Other side was number 24.
Covino
Gonna take it on the other side. Yeah. So it's hard to really place what was going on right then and there because I'm either leaning too far 90s or too far ahead in the 2000s.
Dan Byer
Hence Mambo number five. Yeah, that's your point.
Covino
You're right, Dan. It's very confusing to me to, like, pinpoint exactly what was going on at that time. But I'll tell you this. We know the Knicks were in the Eastern Conference finals, so it was cool to see them back, man. And that's what was going on.
Rich Davis
Hold on, my phone's ringing.
Covino
Yeah, you're the former Snake champion.
Rich Davis
My Nokia's ringing, but were beepers still around? It was. That scared me, by the way. It was funny. It's the first year. They always say the year 2000 sort of changed any. The cell phone from like, yo, you had to be like a yuppie, like. Like a rich person to have a cell phone.
Covino
Pilots a thing.
Rich Davis
No, because in the year 2000, it went from. What do you. You got a cell phone. What do you. Must be like a rich kid to, like, the regular person.
Covino
Like, nerds were riding around on razor scooters at the office because it was like the dot com boom. What year was that?
Rich Davis
No, that was the. The dot com bubble. The dot com bubbly.
Covino
How about this song? You remember this song?
Rich Davis
The dot com bubble burst.
Covino
How about this song in the year 2000? Because everyone was rocking that Nokia right? Where you know what? Disc men were still a thing. They had to be. So I remember taking the bus in the early 2000s, and I still had my Discman.
Rich Davis
Let me hit you up with one more. We talked recently, Danny, remember, about, like, the worst business deals?
Unknown Host
Yeah.
Rich Davis
2000 was the year where Netflix said, hey, Blockbuster, do you want to buy us for $50 million? And Blockbuster is like, nah, we Good. That was the year where everything we do now would have been blockbuster.
Covino
But if you're thinking, like, damn, man, that was a long time ago. Yeah, that's how long it's been. And that's why you're seeing the Knicks celebrate in this way. So whose side are you on tonight, Pacers? Knicks? And now it's time to give away a swiggy.
Rich Davis
All right, now, this guy's words of wisdom are incomparable. How could one measure up to Mike, who runs this place?
Caller
Never heard of him.
Rich Davis
Last week was my favorite. What was it? There's no such thing as fake breasts because if you could feel them, they're real life. Was it that? Was it last week.
Covino
I mean, not verbatim.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Covino
So you didn't. You didn't win a swig.
Rich Davis
You got the gist of it.
Covino
You got the gist.
Rich Davis
I mean, this guy brings it. So I was saying, without further ado, Mike's words of wisdom.
Unknown Host
It's time for the guy that runs this place.
Dan Byer
Just for clarification, guys, Big Mike does not run this place. He is not in charge of everything. He has no power over, really, anybody here. He does not run this place.
Unknown Host
It's Big Mike's words of wisdom on a Wednesday.
Rich Davis
An apple a day will keep anyone.
Unknown Host
Away if you throw it hard enough.
Covino
By the way, that's an easy one. Be dialing now at 87799 on Fox. I mean, those are wise words, but if you can't remember that one, you're the waste.
Rich Davis
Guy pulls out an apple a day reference. Yeah, he needs to make these harder, longer, and more complicated.
Covino
So if you could re. Read that, repeat that verbatim, you win a Swiggy. Be dialing now, 87799 on Fox.
Rich Davis
Danny G. Let's go back to the 2000s for a second, because I know you were. You were running the clubs. We were all younger men. And, you know, if you're in your 40s now, 2000s were your 20s. You were acting the fool. You were ordering Jaeger bombs, and you.
Covino
Were partying Thursday nights.
Rich Davis
You were, you know, getting crystal champagne in the vip. Like, Jaeger bombs. I'm assuming those.
Covino
Those were.
Rich Davis
Danny.
Covino
Jesus. What about vodka? Red Bulls. Was that. Was that around the year 2000?
Rich Davis
I think they was just starting to gain some stuff. Yeah, I. You got to look up when Red Bull started, because it might have been more.
Covino
Red Bull was giving me wings.
Rich Davis
But, Danny G, that's when you were in the VIP booth and, oh, it.
Unknown Host
Was a fun year.
Rich Davis
Girls always Wanted to go to the VIP, the DJ booth.
Unknown Host
I was running the radio station Q1047, Oxnard, Ventura, Santa Barbara. 50,000 watts of all the flava, hip hop, R and B, and old school. Yeah, it was fun. It was a fun time. And really good hip hop and R and b at that time. If you look at the list, Rich.
Rich Davis
And can I throw one more in?
Unknown Host
Yeah, go for it.
J
It.
Rich Davis
The. The late, great Aaliyah. I feel like.
Unknown Host
Oh, yeah, she was.
Rich Davis
She was definitely in the on there.
Unknown Host
She. She had the hit. Try Again and Ja Rule. Ja Rule was in the top 10 with a couple of songs. Wyclef Jean, Erica Badu, Trick Daddy, Big Timers, Nelly, Ludacris, Mop. Let's see. Big Timers. Mystical.
Rich Davis
Oh, Big Timers. Wait, did Big Timers, who sampled Gilligan's Island? Yeah, they had number one stunner, I'm still Fly. Who sings I'm still fly?
Unknown Host
Remember, there were a lot of songs.
Covino
Karaoke.
Unknown Host
There were. Rich. There were a lot of club songs like that at the time. Remember Yin Yang Twins, Whistle while you torque?
Rich Davis
Of course. Do you remember the song? This might be a very east coast club song, but do you remember Feel so Good by Sonique?
Unknown Guest
Yes.
Unknown Host
Oh, yeah. That was in the top 20 of the billboard.
Rich Davis
So just reminiscing, just to bring it back a little bit. Only because if you wonder why New Yorkers are climbing up light posts like they're from Philadelphia, like they're. They're degrading themselves like they're from Philly, it's because there's an excitement level about the Knicks that hasn't been around. This is before social media, before smartphones, before any of the things that you do on a daily basis. Kavino, that's the last time the Knicks were relevant.
Covino
I think it was the first season without Ewing. Got to double check that because I'm looking at the roster, too, in Alan Hughes.
Rich Davis
992000 or 2000? 2001. Yeah, because it was the 99, 2000.
Covino
99 2000. Charlie Ward, I think was on that team. But it's been a long ass time, guys. All right, so again, Mike's Wednesday words of wisdom.
Rich Davis
Let's see if he could do it.
Covino
All right, can you repeat it verbatim for your chance at the coveted Swiggy?
Unknown Host
Going to go to the studio lines. Ryan in Pennsylvania has the first shot at it.
Rich Davis
Ryan, let's see what you got. How are you, buddy?
Caller
I'm good, man. Just getting out of work on my way home.
Rich Davis
Let's do appreciate you listening. First of all, now it's your turn to win a swiggy. Let the music establish.
Covino
Here we go.
Rich Davis
Take it away, right?
Unknown Host
Let it simmer.
Caller
An apple a day will keep anyone away if you throw it hard enough.
Rich Davis
There you go.
Covino
Wow, you won, man.
Unknown Host
That was easy money.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Covino
Thank you very much, man.
Caller
I listen to you guys every day.
Rich Davis
I know how this goes. Appreciate you, Ryan.
Covino

Rich Davis
Enjoy your water bottle. Thank you, bro. You know, I, it's. It's so funny. I, I feel like Mike read that one off like a Snapple cap.
Covino
He might have.
Rich Davis
Or like a bad dad joke.
Covino
Snapple was still a thing.
Rich Davis

Yes.
Rich Davis
Our video producer spot puts together all the biggest stories in the world of sports and entertainment. We call it midweek Major Kavino. And Rich gets you over the middle.
Unknown Host
Of the week with midweek Major.
Rich Davis
Major. Ooh, I love that we throw sports and pop culture headlines and topics at the fellas. And it's like the kids say, that's so mid.
Unknown Host
We definitely major C and R scoring midweek major.
Rich Davis
Yes, Danny.
Unknown Guest
I needed that.
Rich Davis
I needed it, too.
Unknown Host
That was for the east coast as the Knicks are back in the conference finals. And before we hand things over to the number one and only host of this segment, you hear the horns so you know you've made it to the middle of the work week. Covino and Rich are going to roll the two big red love dice over there to see who gets the first take.
Covino
I just rolled big fat four.
Rich Davis
And by the way, Danny, better than the middle of the work week. Knowing that you have a holiday weekend coming up makes you feel a little better.
Unknown Host
Here goes the Rich roll seven.
Rich Davis
I'm getting ready for our Vegas trip, baby.
Unknown Host
That means Rich gets to go first. And now, ladies and gentlemen, the most famous person, the besides Judy Blume from Scotch Plains, New Jersey, Spotty Boy.
Unknown Guest
Hi, guys.
Rich Davis
You know, I only Roll seven on the first one.
Unknown Guest
Only on the first one.
Rich Davis
Sixes and eights all day, bro. We're gonna take over a craps table and make millions.
Unknown Guest
We're gonna do something, I'll tell you that much. All right, we'll start off with the Buffalo Bills who have been chosen by the NFL in the home box office to be the center of the training camp edition of Hard Knocks. Roger Goodell made the announcement during spring meetings saying the rainy AFC east champs will be documented as they prepare for next season. Of course, series will focus on team practices, possibly get some off screen drama. Maybe we'll see the future Mrs. Allen running around NFC east also getting their treatment for the in season for next season, focusing on multiple teams including the Giants commanders, Cowboys and Eagles. Hard Knocks training camp with the Buffalo Bills premieres August 5th on HBO. Max. Is that what it's called? Called now?
Covino
By then.
Rich Davis
By then it'll be hoax.
Unknown Guest
I'm pretty sure our home box office Maximilian, as I call it.
Rich Davis
Yes. This is, I mean, mid.
Unknown Guest
Okay, that's so mid.
Rich Davis
They do it every year. The Bills a good choice. Haley Steinfeld. I hope there's a little involvement to bring some, you know, some pop culture fun to it. And by the way, rude of you to bring up the Bills and not wish Josh Allen A happy 29th birthday.
Unknown Guest
Oh, is that today?
Rich Davis
Josh Allen turns 29 today.
Unknown Guest
I didn't get my alert.
Rich Davis
Did he get your Josh Allen alert? Well, Mr. T turned 73 today. I P to the fool.
Covino
Well, I hope Josh Allen gets my edible arrangement. I sent him a balloon, so.
Unknown Guest
But I think this is edibles.
Covino
Major, major spot and I'll tell you why. AFC east champs Josh Allen superstars. It could be a weak ass team. This is a great team. This is an intriguing season. So when I first saw this Rich I like was like, ooh, yeah. And it gets me excited about it, so. Because sometimes you're watching a team that you don't care at all about. So I'm actually excited about this.
Rich Davis
And you know what, I'm sure they will also highlight the Bill's mafia, which could be fun.
Covino
Yeah, their fan base is insane. So I think this would be a great season.
Unknown Host
All right.
Unknown Guest
Sticking in the NFL. Jalen hurts doubling down on his absence from the White House last month as he claims. As he said he had scheduling context, so he's really busy. Super bowl world champion Eagles QB invited to the White House along with the rest of the team on April 28. Many were in attendance, including Saquon Barkley, who Went on to have a round of golf with the President. But Hertz commented in a press conference conference yesterday, saying he just simply wasn't available. Going on to say, I don't think that's pertinent. Everyone who went was available. Or that everyone who went and was available seemed to enjoy themselves. So even if it's not political, really sticking to his guns midweek or major.
Rich Davis
Gonna go major. Definitely major. And I'll tell you why. Not because I care. Listen, no matter who the president is, I would go because I honor the seat that the man holds and maybe a woman one day, right? I think the president's a big deal. I would sit down with Obama, Trump, Bush, Clinton, anyone. I think it's an honor.
Unknown Guest
Lincoln.
Rich Davis
Lincoln. Taft. Who got stuck? Garfield. Garfield. I just find it odd when he's like, I was busy. In my mind, I'm like Van Buren, to quote Pee Wee Herman back in the day. Busy doing what? Busy doing what?
Covino
He's taking his bath.
Rich Davis
Francis is busy. I've seen this. When people go to the Oscars or a wedding or big event, it's like, oh, they were busy that day. What is busier and more important than going to the White House and being honored by the President? It's a wildly weird excuse if you ask me. You could say, say I'm not a fan of Trump and he didn't want to go. That would be okay with that? To say you had plans, that's like.
Covino
Hey, where at Penihana? Cancel him. What is going on?
Rich Davis
I don't get it.
Covino
Yeah, I agree with Rich. It's major.
Rich Davis
It's like, I was visiting New York once and I was like, dad, I'm, you know, visiting from LA 3,000 miles. And he's like, oh, you know what? Come a little later in the day. I have a dental cleaning.
Unknown Guest
I'm like, oh, I got a. I got a doctor's appointment. It's very hard to get it.
Covino
What is more important than this honor?
Unknown Guest
I booked it six months ago.
Covino
Again, unless it was like something health related. And if you really want to squash the story. What were you doing? Why the big mystery? I'm with Rich. I'd respect it more if he just came clean and said, yeah, I don't like Trump.
Unknown Guest
All right. Still speculation around the engagement between legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick and his 24 year old girlfriend, Jordan Hudson. Well, Bill may have confirmed it in his own way. As you know, Bill has eight super bowl rings. Six with the Pats, two with the Giants. Well, he debuted a new Boat on the waters off the swanky island of Nantucket in Massachusetts with the name in Roman numerals, 1 plus 8 rings. Alluding to the fact that there may be an extra ring having to do with his engagement.
Rich Davis
No. I see. I think this is major. Definitely major. But. But I am interpreting it differently. Oh, he's with a younger, more vibrant woman.
Unknown Guest
Oh, you think that ring.
Rich Davis
I think the ring is somewhere in his pantalones. I think not for my hands. Need a little help on 74. I don't think it's an engagement. I think it's a boink.
Unknown Host
Wow.
Covino
Geez.
Unknown Guest
Wow. That's a.
Rich Davis
That's a hot take.
Unknown Guest
That's a hot take right there.
Rich Davis
I'll take.
Covino
And I agree with Rich. Yeah. Major story. Because it's Bill belichick and he's 74 years old. She's 24, married.
Rich Davis
Maddie.
Covino
What?
Rich Davis
Mary's going Maddie here.
Covino
It's a very odd story. Of course, that implies a marriage. One plus eight rings. Well, what's the other ring? Give me a break. I just find it very odd that.
Rich Davis
This guy seems to be high school class ring.
Covino
He just seems to be so smitten. And it's really odd to see such a guy that I don't know. It's a very major story because you're not going to tell me that she's not going to have involvement on his decisions, because all wives do.
Rich Davis
All right.
Unknown Guest
What's that Irish promise ring?
Rich Davis
That Claytor and clatter ring?
Covino
My purity ring is my Jonas brothers.
Unknown Guest
There you go. All right. The White Sox banking got a higher power to lead them to victory this season. So Pope Leo the 14th, as you know from Chicago, Chicago White Sox fan, his brother revealed it. We saw the footage of him in the stands at the at Game 1 of the 2005 World Series. While the team capitalizing on their connection by highlighting the Pope and his attendees with a graphic installation at right field. The Sox unveiled the attraction ahead of their matchup against the Mariners, which featured the new Pope waving in front of the Chicago skyline with a photo. A photo of him in the stands at the 2005 game. Also a frame jersey next to it with the name Pope Leo. And under, of course, the number is 14 socks. Currently 15 and 35. So maybe they'll turn it around for the rest of the season. Midweek or major.
Rich Davis
Dude, they ain't turn around. This ain't Angels in the outfield.
Covino
You never know. I don't know.
Rich Davis
But, you know, it is pretty cool. Listen, if the Pope rooted for My team, I would imagine they would, you know, do something. I think it's a classy little touch. And the White Sox, you know, they need a little something. I think I. I would say it's sort of mid.
Covino
I think it's a mid story. I agree with Rich. They could have made it cooler by having, like, a sacred seat spray paint that one seat that he sat in gold. And it's like, you're the lucky fan you get. You're, like, blessed by the God.
Unknown Guest
What if they did, like, Pope Frank foam hat night?
Covino
Yeah, you gotta lean into it a.
Rich Davis
Little harder now, you know? Oh, the great pope race.
Unknown Guest
The great pope race.
Covino
If you're sitting in a sacred seat, giveaway prizes, you win a trip to the Vatican.
Rich Davis
Oh, my God. You get free tickets forever and ever.
Covino
Yeah, you gotta lean into it, man.
Unknown Guest
I love it. All right. Travis Kelsey backtracking his stance on playing the season opener in Sao Paulo, Brazil, after facing back last for throwing a bit of a tantrum after the game was announced, as you recall, complaining about the heat being that close to the equator, saying he didn't want to put on his uniform. He's played in Jacksonville in September, and it's effing miserable. Says, yeah, all that kind of stuff. Well, on this week's new Hype podcast, he made a turnaround, saying, talking about the excitement for being in a bunch of primetime games. You can't wait to see all the Brazil fans enjoying American football. And then Jason went on to say how apparently they to were trying. Told the weather in Sao Paulo and Brazil in September is very nice. So they're very excited about it.
Covino
Midweek or major, you know, else is very nice. The butt cheeks out there.
Unknown Guest
I mean, I don't want to say it don't mean.
Rich Davis
Let me say this. I think carnival. I think this story has nothing to do with his take on Brazil in the games. I think the take you said. You said back one too many times.
Covino
Backtracking.
Rich Davis
You said backtracking.
Unknown Guest
You mean his hairy back.
Rich Davis
All I'm thinking about is Travis Kelce's hairy back.
Unknown Guest
And maybe I was going to be.
Rich Davis
Maybe this is good news for all the hairy Sasquatches out there. Because if Taylor Swift could get with a guy that's got a hairy back like that, maybe it's like, you think.
Unknown Guest
She shaves his back?
Rich Davis
I betcha.
Unknown Guest
I guarantee you. He laughs.
Rich Davis
I bet you people want to see that.
Unknown Guest
Honestly, that's an only shot there.
Rich Davis
Wax it. Do something. Travis, you're too handsome to have a hairy back. That's my take.
Covino
I agree with you on that. I'll agree with Rich on that.
Rich Davis
I don't have a hairy back.
Unknown Guest
Back button.
Rich Davis
What do I push here?
Covino
It's a mid story.
Rich Davis
Major carry back.
Covino
I'm supposed to care that he is okay with Brazil? Brazil is awesome. I've never been there, but I've always wanted to go. But his hairy back is a pretty mid story. Shave your back, dude. Half Sasquatch, half Croatian, I guess.
Rich Davis
All right, well, hey, thank you, Spotty. Great midweek major.
Covino
Thank you, bud. Trash. If I'm anywhere and this song comes on, I take a bathroom break.
Rich Davis
I feel like you're insulting Dan Byer. He loves this song. I told Danny needs to stick around to hear his. His callback.
Covino
Oh, rumors spread and this is Dan Byers favorite song. Oh, man.
Rich Davis
Dan is very.
Covino
Changing the name to the buyer number five.
Dan Byer
Okay, that's not the case here. The problem is, is Rich has been lippy all week. Like his. His 49ers. Oh, that's a win against the Seahawks.
Rich Davis
It's lippy over here. Even.
Dan Byer
Even yesterday when like I guessed like Tom C. Vers.
Rich Davis
I said that.
Dan Byer
I said that. So this is the third straight day where like he's popped off. Here's the deal. Nobody except Covino sometimes. And Spot sometimes calls him out on it.
Covino
Yeah, yeah.
Dan Byer
You know, Sam's just like Rich. So When Mambo Number 5 was released in April of 99 because it thought it may be 2000, trying to add something to the show. I don't think I should be ridiculed by. No, that was years and years.
Covino
You saw the real side of Rich is what you're seeing.
Dan Byer
Yes, yes. The real. I can't wait for the untold Rich Davis story to come out.
Covino
This is welcome.
Rich Davis
That's why Dan's always been a Cavino guy.
Unknown Guest
You're officially part of the crew now. Have frustration towards Rich like that. They're officially part of the crew.
Rich Davis
It took four years. Love you, buddy.
Covino
You've seen it. You've seen what we see.
Dan Byer
It's like the third time triple crown. He just won the Belmont by, you.
Covino
Know, very dismissive attitude. And he doesn't see it.
Unknown Guest
He doesn't see that.
Covino
He does it.
Unknown Guest
God, wrong again. Anyway, Dan, why you.
Unknown Host
DB it's like how we were running really late for last one standing on Monday and Rich wanted to talk about butterflies for 10 minutes.
Covino
Yeah.
Dan Byer
Seriously?
Rich Davis
Yep.
Covino
I mean, this is how Rich. So again, we're Kavino and Rich.
Rich Davis
Guys, I'm here.
Covino
Pompous Rich, live from the Fox Sports Radio studio. And for over 40 years, Tire Rack has been helping customers find the right tires for how, what and where they drive ship fast and free and backed by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation.
Rich Davis
Dude, it's mobile tire installation.
Covino
Oh, sorry. Tirerack.com with tire buying should be.
Rich Davis
No, it should be.
Covino
And real quick. Right quick. Tomorrow. Manana. Vatos Locos old school in 50 hits tomorrow, Sam, that's when you hit the button and we reminisce. We throw it back on a Thursday. We do that every Thursday. Old school, when 50 hits on the clock. So be sure to join us and we'll figure out a way to give away more prizes tomorrow.
Rich Davis
Do you think the Knicks hold court and win game one at home tonight?
Covino
Man, that's tough. I do, Rich. I think that personal. But what I can guarantee is what we said last time. Electricity, man, the garden is going to be hopping. And it's going to be fun to watch. It's going to be fun to see all the old heads there representing.
Rich Davis
You want ratings?
Covino
All the Latrell Spree wells out there.
Rich Davis
You want ratings? No. You do. I have an idea. You sit Halliburton's dad in between all the old school Knicks.
Covino
Yeah, Oakley.
Rich Davis
Oakley and Halliburton's dad right next to each other. I mean, that'll go well. Ratings, baby. Go ratings.
Unknown Host
Now, Rich, are you keeping your wallet closed tonight because you got burned last night?
Rich Davis
You know what? Now that you said that.
Unknown Host
MVP.
Rich Davis
MVP. Yeah. 31 points when it was 31 and a half. All right, what do we got here tonight? Jalen Brunson 28 and a half.
Unknown Host
Ooh, I'd say just under.
Covino
All right, don't let that half get you.
Unknown Host
Don't let the half get you.
Rich Davis
Oh, Carl Anthony Towns. Ooh, 22 and a half bet.
Unknown Host
Bet you he scores 23 points.
Rich Davis
All right, I'm going to go over Halliburton 18 and a half over. Over 200 on the under 20. We'll do one more. Turner, we're topping. Who do you want to do?
Unknown Host
I'd say Miles Turner.
Rich Davis
Miles Turner is 15 and a half.
Covino
Half under.
Rich Davis
Okay, I'm just totally went with arbitrary. I went arbitrary with you guys.
Unknown Host
Knicks, if this draft Kings pick six hits, you owes Taco Bell tomorrow.
Covino
That's right.
Rich Davis
Fair enough.
Unknown Host
So we got crunchy tacos.
Rich Davis
We got Brunson under 28 and a half. We got Cat over 22 and a half. Halliburton over 18 and a half. And Miles Turner under 15 and a half. 10 bucks pays 80.
Covino
All right, cool. More reason to have fun and enjoy the game. Thank you guys for enjoying this show. I hope you enjoy the show. Anything you missed, catch it on the podcast. Now, we got two minutes left, Rich, which means we'll probably have to continue this conversation tomorrow. But all show, Rich has been teasing Patrick Mahomes is two new weapons this off season. Yeah. Now, again, this is a legend and this is rumor. This is just based on what the eyes could see because I don't know.
Rich Davis
If I necessarily agree with you.
Covino
Yeah. Empirical evidence. Yeah, well, there's a lot of people that disagree because. Gus.
Unknown Host
What?
Rich Davis
The lovely. I enjoy her very much on quarterback. I got a new respect for Britney Mahomes. But there's photos now. You know, she was in Sports Illustrated.
Covino
There's a lot of before and after.
Rich Davis
There's a lot of before and after action going on. And I think she's a new mom. And when you're a new mom, they get big. Others are saying, she got. The babies get big. What do you got? She got some bazoombas, monsieur.
Covino
Yeah, that's the proper term.
Rich Davis
I think so.
Unknown Guest
Kazums.
Rich Davis
Yes, I'm here. I'm listening. What do you think? You're.
Covino
You're. No, no, no, you guys, you're a lovely woman.
Rich Davis
Absolutely. It's both. Oh, so they got bigger. She got them and they got bigger. Yeah, yeah. So she's looking real good.
Unknown Guest
Milky bazumbas.
Rich Davis
I'll say. Yeah, yeah.
Covino
I'm not complaining. Just saying I think she's looking good. And I'm glad you guys are noticing, but I think it's none of your business.
Rich Davis
I think Brittany Mahomes looks great. But I think this goes into a conversation tomorrow about. About your thoughts on as we all get older, mommy makeovers. You know, if you're a dad and you're getting older, like, where's. Where do you draw your own personal line? Like Kavino. You're a guy in the entertainment world. Is Kavino ever gonna get Brotox?
Covino
Yo, bro, you better chill. And where's he gonna get it? And here's the other question we'll pose tomorrow.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Covino
What's worse? The women that deny the work or men that deny their steroid use? How many beefed up guys that are beefed up guys.
Rich Davis
Yeah, I'm totally clean.
Covino
Are lying? How many women out there are getting these things done lying about it?
Rich Davis
So we'll get to all that tomorrow. Have a great night. Enjoy the NBA arrived at you, baby.
Covino
See you in the promised land. Goodbye, guys.

Podcast Summary: The Herd with Colin Cowherd – "The Best Of Covino & Rich"
Episode Details:
Overview: In this episode of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, hosts Covino and Rich Davis delve into the controversial Netflix documentary, "The Fall of Favre Untold." They explore the multifaceted story of NFL legend Brett Favre, his misconduct, and the profound impact it had on Jen Sturger and others connected to the scandal. The discussion is enriched with personal anecdotes, critical insights, and audience interactions, providing listeners with a comprehensive understanding of the issues at hand.
Covino kicks off the episode by introducing the documentary "Brett Favre, the Fall of Favre Untold," which premiered on Netflix the previous night. He prompts the discussion by questioning how quickly public memory fades, allowing recurring negative behaviors to resurface and reframe the narrative around a once-revered figure.
Notable Quote:
Rich Davis expresses a strong negative opinion about Brett Favre, dismissing him as "trash" despite his on-field achievements. This stark perspective sets the tone for their critical analysis of the documentary.
Notable Quotes:
The hosts discuss Favre's notorious reputation for his "gunslinger" style on the field and how his aggressive play was often paralleled by questionable behavior off the field.
Rich Davis [03:18]: "I absolutely forgot that he adamantly retired twice and then came out of retirement quickly after. I forgot how annoying the 'I will never play another game'."
A significant portion of the discussion revolves around Jen Sturger, a close associate of the hosts who suffered professionally due to Favre's actions. Covino and Rich share their personal connections to Jen, highlighting the emotional toll the scandal took on her career and personal life.
Notable Quotes:
The hosts express sympathy and frustration over how Jen's career was derailed while Favre's reputation remained largely intact, emphasizing the gender disparities in accountability and media coverage.
Covino [07:08]: "Jen lost her show. Brett Favre was inducted into the Hall of Fame, and his life went on unaffected."
Rich Davis criticizes Deadspin and a figure referred to as the "AJ guy" for their role in exacerbating Jen's ordeal. He accuses them of exploiting the situation for sensationalism, contributing further to Jen's professional and personal struggles.
Notable Quotes:
The discussion underscores the unethical nature of media exploitation and its long-term consequences on victims.
The hosts engage with audience callers who share insights and perspectives on broader societal issues related to integrity, accountability, and the treatment of women in the entertainment and sports industries. These interactions reinforce the episode's themes of systemic misogyny and the challenges of holding powerful individuals accountable.
Notable Quotes:
Transitioning from the heavy topic of Favre and Jen Sturger, Covino and Rich take a nostalgic trip back to the year 2000. They reminisce about the cultural landscape of the time, touching on popular movies, music, technology, and significant sports events. This segment serves as a light-hearted contrast to their earlier discussion.
