Rich
Find your local station for Cabino and rich@foxsportsradio.com or stream us live every day on the iHeartRadio app by searching FSR. Let's do this, man.
Sam
Well, before we get to whatever you're thinking about, I gotta give everyone the golden rule. We were saying.
Rich
Okay, what's the golden rule?
Sam
Not the goldenet bat. We talked about that yesterday, by the way, dude.
Cavino
Cause I've got a golden ticket.
Rich
You ever feel like someone just swayed you the wrong way?
Sam
I swayed you the wrong way.
Rich
My first instinct yesterday was the golden at bat is stupid. That was my first instinct. It really was stupid. Dumb. Get outta here.
Sam
You sound like the Saved by the Bell cast going down the stairs for that drug ad.
Rich
Stupid.
Sam
Dumb.
Cavino
Dumb stinks.
Rich
No, I'm doing. That's actually Peewee Herman. Remember? He's like, stupid. Nope. And then Rich came in here, honestly. And like, I feel like I was hit over the head. And he's like, no, dude, it'll be great. And he built up this whole story. He did a great job. Sold me on the possibility of the golden at bat in mlb.
Sam
I should be a politician.
Rich
And then I'm reading all the feedback that we got and everyone's like, guys, are you serious? It's the dumbest idea ever. Worst idea ever. And then I'm like, how did I let Rich sway me on this? And then I saw the headline. Did you see the headline from the New York Post today?
Sam
Rich Davis from Fox Sports Radio is a dummy.
Rich
No, no, no. MLB's golden at bat is utterly the most moronic disgrace of an idea ever. And I'm like, you know, how did I. How did I let Rich, like, sway me here? And you did such a great job.
Sam
Thank you.
Spot
When has he never led you somewhere lame?
Sam
That thank you spot.
Rich
No, it's like he had. Remember in the show True Blood way back on a Wednesday? Remember True Blood? Vampires had a way of glamoring you into believing whatever they were saying. Like, Rich had me under a spell yesterday. I was like, yeah, fun.
Sam
Oh, golden rule. The golden map.
Rich
Yeah, he's right.
Sam
I convinced.
Rich
And then I got home, and I'm like, what was I talking about? That is dumb as hell.
Sam
I convinced a handful of people was great. I convinced millions. I'm a dope. But I went to softball last night. At a game last night, guys on my team were like, yo, dude, I heard you on Fox Sports today. You're trolling everyone, right? I'm like, no, I believe in the golden, and I did.
Rich
You had me convinced yesterday. And then I thought about it more. I'm like, no, what was I thinking? I was drunk.
Cavino
I think I do want to say that the Doug Gottlieb show, they're against your. They really took you guys to the cleaners.
Rich
Oh, really?
Cavino
And you, Rich and Steve, you even made it to what does the Fox say? Which we do on the bonus pod.
Danny G
No way.
Cavino
The Goldenette bat.
Rich
Yeah.
Cavino
Made its way to the Doug Gottlieb.
Sam
I'll tell you what.
Cavino
Saturated Doug Gottlieb.
Rich
Rich really made it sound fun. It's like a guy that sells you on the week. It's like the Fyre festival, dude. It's gonna be great. Trust me. And you buy into it, okay, Ja. Yeah. You buy into it, and you're like, this sucks. Rich sold me on that yesterday so hard, and he made it sound fun, and I'm like, I'm not completely against it, Rich, but the more I thought about it, I'm like, that's stupid.
Sam
Well, now we got to listen to the Gotley bonus pod for them to just roast me. By the way, speaking of golden tickets, I saw Doug on Instagram. Does he got the golden whistle? I saw him doing some, like, they got. He got, like, great B roll of him coaching, but I feel like at practice, I was like, does he have a golden whistle?
Cavino
I've not seen the golden whistle.
Rich
Okay, so not the golden whistle. Not the golden at bat. The golden rule around this time of year when your holiday party's underway, because this week is our Fox Sports rad Company holiday party, Christmas party, whatever you want to call it.
Sam
You could drink.
Rich
Yeah.
Sam
You might say some questionable things.
Rich
You may flirt it up with the wrong person. Everyone's gonna be talking about it.
Sam
Go dip away and get high.
Rich
Yeah.
Sam
You just can't be the worst. And yeah, I remember there was a company party at SiriusXM years ago.
Rich
Yeah, company parties, they used to go all out now before things like budget cuts and stuff like that.
Sam
Yeah. Back in the day, we used to have. Wherever you worked, you had big parties. You could bring your wife or husband, you all, you could eat, all. You could drink at nice places. Now if you wanted to flirt with.
Rich
The hottie at the office, you can't bring your wife, dude.
Sam
I mean, speaking of which, think of love. Actually, the movie. You hate the movie. I love. The whole point is that they had some elaborate Christmas party. That's how the world was. Office Christmas party, a great Christmas party.
Rich
Then it turned into party in the lobby, and now we're actually having a good one this year. I'm excited about it at a nearby restaurant. But what's the rule? Tell everybody the rule, Rich.
Sam
Yeah, if your company. I guess it's optics, too, right? You can't do budget cuts and then go all out for a Christmas party. You have to be like, hey, we're gonna have the company party in the lobby. We got some garbage cans full of Miller Lights. Like, that's.
Cavino
We got some Jungle Juice.
Sam
That's some company.
Rich
I would say the rule is you can't be the worst.
Sam
Right.
Rich
But you also have to have a real friend that's not in competition with you, to tell you and remind you when. To say when. And to keep you off the dance floor and to stop you from doing the worm. To stop you from tying the tie around your head. To stop you from throwing up on yourself, flirting with the hottie in front of everybody. Like, you need someone. You need someone to have your back a little bit.
Sam
Don't cross the line with the hot girl at work.
Rich
Yeah, that's always a thing.
Sam
Don't take this as a chance.
Rich
Oh, and don't take weird pictures that are going to end up on the, you know, on the company website the next Monday. Don't do that.
Danny G
Don't ask your bosses for a raise party.
Rich
Oh, don't even bring up business. I don't bring up.
Sam
I was just about to say that.
Danny G
But, Rich, nobody ever abides by that, though, because what happens? Oh, you're the one that sends us those commercials for the podcast. And then you start Talking a little bit of work.
Rich
Yeah. You know what I think, you know, you have that commonality, right? That's your common ground. So it's bound to come up. But you don't want it to be just about that.
Danny G
Stare away from it.
Rich
Yeah. You're not. When we say you're not talking business, you're not talking, like, company raises or advancement numbers, things like that.
Sam
Look where the stock's at.
Cavino
We really should be getting raises now.
Sam
So you're saying I shouldn't. You're saying by the end of tomorrow's Christmas party, I shouldn't try to get us on eight new affiliates. Okay, I'll back off.
Rich
I would say dress appropriately. Right? That's obvious.
Sam
Don't have your drunk hanging out. What?
Rich
But you know where we learned this rule? Seriously. When we were at Sirius xm. And we still are. We do music at Sirius xm. Right? Cavino and Rich, separately. He does pop stuff. I do rock stuff. Early on in the early 2000s, we had a colleague that just made such an ass of himself. Dude, he was, you know, throwing up.
Sam
Oh, I'm thinking of two different guys. There's. There's two different stories. Because there were times where I would have a bunch of drinks and I. I'd be like, party animal guy. And Kevino would say, you're lucky. I'm like, why am I lucky? He goes, while you were a little out of control, you paled in comparison to blank. One year, one of the older employees got very, like, old school machismo with some of the female employees. I'm like, yo, this guy's gonna get fired. That guy made me look tame, right? And then the drunk guy, some employee got so drunk he passed out. People were taking pictures with him like he was Weekend at Bernie's.
Rich
Yeah.
Sam
Like their ass on his head and stuff.
Cavino
That's like Todd Packer in the office. He's covered a silly string.
Rich
That's not the look you want with colleagues. It's fun to unwind. It's fun to have fun. But that's your holiday party reminder from your boys. Who got your back? Covino, Rich, Danny G. Spotty, Sam Byer. All right, Fox Sports Radio's got your back.
Sam
So before we go into Brock Purdy and your Spotify unwrapped, I was Sam, I believe you told me we have great audio from Michael K. Who you love Yankees. My dad listens to Michael K in New York. It's the only other radio show he listens to besides to the track to.
Rich
The wall looking up See ya.
Cavino
And he's roasting here. Your guy with the Mets who does a show. Help me out here.
Sam
Evan Roberts.
Cavino
No, different guy.
Sam
Gary Cohen.
Cavino
No, he's. Hold on.
Rich
Sal.
Danny G
L. Just keep guessing names.
Sam
Tom Zeal.
Cavino
He says it in the.
Danny G
In the comments.
Sam
Okay, let's take a listen.
Cavino
Is it perfect? No. Would I sign off on it? Probably wouldn't. But imagine the outcry. Because guy is trying to do something to juice a game that needs to be juiced. And all the people that say this is like, sacrilege, guess what we got you. It's the young players. The young people. We don't have them. So we have to turn the ninth inning into an event where your best player is going up against the closer.
Questlove
And you see no value in that.
Cavino
Because nothing can change in baseball because it's not a sport. It's a religion. You all have to get your heads out of your butts to jump a guy for trying to make a legitimate change or thinking about a legitimate change. Even a guy I love, Howie Rose. This has got to be a joke. No, the loss of baseball, eyeballs. That's a joke. Howie. There's got to be something that stops it. It's got to be something that stops the erosion of this great game. You've got to make it appeal to more people, younger people. Those are the people we do not have. And you're going to crucify Rob Manford because he's thinking outside the box. You all have to grow up, and you all have to open your eyes and see what's happening with the game.
Rich
Wait, so maybe we weren't that far off.
Sam
Oh, now your boy, Michael K. Now. Now you're back.
Rich
I'm back in. I'm back in. You know what? Rich really sold it. And I'm telling you, even like my high school friends, everybody that caught wind of this hit me up like, yo, this is the dumbest idea ever.
Sam
This is ridiculous.
Rich
This is stupid. And I was like, well, how could we be so wrong? It sounds like fun. Okay, Michael K. Brought me back a little bit. Golden at bat.
Sam
If we're on the track of dumb ideas, we move past the golden at bat. We spent a lot of time and a lot of fun on that yester. I feel like it was our most fun show in quite a while. Let's move to another idea that some are saying is dumb and others are saying, yo, this is the way forward. And not just because they're my team, because it's a hot story. The San Francisco 49ers, if you're John lynch, you're Kyle Shanahan. And by the way, I looked at the schedule ahead. If the Niners win for their last five, which I don't think will happen, the teams in that division still play tough teams. I wouldn't be shocked if you want to take like a wild futures bet, 49ers make the postseason, if you could get a great value on because, yeah, they played the Lions. Outside of that, they could win the other four games. It's like the Bears, Rams, Dolphins. So it's not crazy where the Cardinals and Seahawks have to play Minnesota Green Bay like this. There's tough games there and they have to play each other. The 49ers likely, though, I'm guessing 9 and 8. 8 and 9 missed the postseason. Now, there's two trains of thought you pay Brock Purdy. He's proven that with the talent or without. He is clearly an above average NFL quarterback.
Rich
Yeah, I mean, you gotta give him props that even during this season where they're playing terrible and dealing with a lot of injuries, a multitude of injuries, he has avoided really all criticism. No one has won. I've never heard anyone say he's the issue or he's the problem or he's the reason. If anything, he's keeping it together and he's rising above the fact that that team's injured. So he's proven himself more this year than I'd say in previous years. One could argue that.
Sam
I mean, he's had some bad games.
Rich
But no one's not the reason.
Sam
No one's saying the Niners, it's all.
Rich
Brock Purdy's fault Kuba Stank not singing about him.
Sam
So the reason is not him.
Rich
The reason's not him.
Sam
But. But here's the question. When you do have aging stars, stars, stars and stars, McCaffrey not getting younger, Debo Samuel, Trent Williams is still the best, but that clock is ticking. The 49ers are a bunch of aging future hall of Famers. They have. I think they have gas left in the tank, but they can't take a road trip is what I'm saying. There's. There's gas left in the tank, but they're not driving to Vegas. They. They gotta stop in, like, Bakersfield.
Rich
They're gonna stop in, what is it?
Sam
Prem. Nevada.
Rich
They're going to stop by Whiskey Peas.
Sam
They can't make it all the way.
Rich
They're going to go to Buffalo Bills first.
Sam
My point is the Niners still have gas in the tank when healthy, but do you worry about making your team deeper without Brock Purdy? Or do you say no, no, make this team deeper. Don't give Purdy $50 million a year, maybe more. Draft a quarterback, see what the free agent market looks like for some of these. Some of these, you know, Journeyman, the 49ers are, are still in that. I think they're still in that little window where with some adjustments they could win. You said it about the Eagles. We thought the Eagles were done. We thought Buffalo was done, right? How many people? I saw Rich Eisen the other day, he's like, listen, I apologize. I thought it was the Dolphins and Jets and I wrote off Buffalo thinking McDermott and Josh Allen. That was done. They may win the Super Bowl. 49ers have the ability to turn this around. I truly believe that even without my 49er fan goggles on.
Rich
But next year, better off with or without Purdy.
Sam
Do you go forward and say we're going to make this team deep but go with a lesser qb because I believe in Shanahan system? Or do you say, hey listen, Brock Purdy's earned it. And then there's option three, which is I think a little cold blooded.
Cavino
Cold blooded.
Sam
You can make purdy play for 1.9 million and give him that one year tag. Would that be, would that be dirty?
Danny G
If the NFL 2025 draft was held right now, the Niners would be picking 14th.
Rich
Yeah, you want to take that chance? This goes back to like, is it, is it the system or is it Tom Brady? Right? Is it the, is it the coaching of Bill Belichick or is it Tom Brady? Years later, Tom really solidified the answer to that question.
Sam
Well, you know what, Camino, I think I've heard.
Rich
Not just, I think it's the combination of both.
Sam
Not just.
Rich
I think Purdy's proven that he is better than people gave him credit for.
Sam
No diggity no doubt. But I think what we did learn also is that the minute some, I'll be honest, like football moron, the minute some, you know, person with very little insight says, you know, there's a move on from Kyle Shanahan. I agree with not only our show but multitude of high level people that said if Kyle Shanahan was let go, 80% of the league would fire their current coach to get Kyle Shanahan. You don't get rid of Kyle Shanahan on a down injured year. So Shanahan, John lynch, that's a combo you want to keep around for a decade and build around and see if you could revamp the way the Golden State warriors, the way the Patriots, the way franchises. The only difference is the Niners haven't finished the job.
Rich
Well, let me answer the question before we move on. Based on the fact that you'd get the 14th pick, I'd say you stick with Purdy. I say you even tag him. You stick with Purdy, Give him, give.
Sam
Him the bunk deal and be like, yeah, you're sticking around for like 2 mil.
Rich
Yeah, let Purdy continue with a healthy 49ers team. He sort of earned it as well. He's still young. That's the other plus side of a Brock Purdy. He's young, doesn't have a lot of wear and tear. He's healthy. He'll have his team back. They'll be healthy. I don't think he'd take that 14th round chance. If you got your 14th pick chance, 14th pick chance. I'm sorry. When you have all your high profile players coming back ready to go next year, no way. That's too much of a risk.
Sam
What would you do is the question.
Rich
I think Brock Purdy was just, I don't say an anomaly, but he really sees that moment of gaining the respect of a lot of veteran players because he proved himself and he played well. To think that another young player is going to step in and be able to do the same thing, that's really asking a lot of a young player with a lot of veteran superstars.
Sam
Let me throw a name at you like Brock.
Rich
That's what made Brock Purdy special, is he immediately won everybody over and he played well. Not everybody's going to be able to do that.
Sam
Let me, Let me throw a name at you. And you could say, well, been there, done that, but not really. What if I said Sam Darnold? Sam Darnold was the backup last year in San Francisco. Shanahan loves him. He knows the system. Minnesota clearly is going to move forward with J.J. mcCarthy at some point. And we talked about it the other day, like, does Minnesota really want to pay Sam Darnold when they know the future is somewhere else? But now.
Rich
You're changing the question.
Sam
But now.
Rich
But yeah, but I'm saying, would you rather pay a Darnold or pay a Purdy?
Sam
But I think Darnold comes cheaper than Purdy.
Rich
Really?
Sam
I Do you? I think so.
Rich
I think they're like even. Yeah. I mean, what do I know? But that's, that's what I would.
Sam
You know what? Let's, let's.
Danny G
You'd be better off Leaving your guy in place with a system that he's already perfected.
Rich
I agree. Yeah. I think you keep Purdy in that situation. You know what? A lot of people knows it better than him now.
Sam
A lot of people that are seeing the success of Sam Darnold 9 and 2 in Minnesota right now, you know what they're saying? Had he took over for the Niners last year, he could have. He would have done exactly what Purdy did. So your thoughts? What did the 49ers do with the quarterback position? Assuming they don't make the postseason, they don't somehow luck out, sneak in, and maybe win a wild card game if the 49ers are out? 9 and 8. 8 and 9.
Rich
Well, is there some buzz that. That Brock Purdy you think is cramping the 49ers? Is that some of the buzz, some of the talk today?
Sam
I just think the. The money you'd have to give him. And then you start thinking like, oh, look at the Cowboys happen when they paid Dak all that money. And, you know, you see teams eating up so much of their money with a qb, and that's been the Niners advantage. So your thoughts? We'll get to it next. Plus, we'll talk about your Spotify unwrapped.
Rich
You're always taking a risk. It's less risk, more reward. With Purdy, you know what he's going to bring you, bro? You're going to get someone else. You're taking a major risk. You're like, I'm going to invest. I'm going to get a young quarterback who may or may not show up, or we're going to get another quarterback and take that risk. When you have the rest of your team coming back healthy, what would you do? As the fan?
Sam
I want my cake and to eat it, too. I want Brock Purdy to take like $30 million, but he won't. Like, in my mind, I'm like, yo, Baker took 30. I don't think Brock Purdy's a $60 million quarterback. So my answer, that's true. On behalf of Niners nation. Bang, bang, Niners game.
Rich
I don't think Brock Purdy deserves star money. He's a. He's a really good player. But is he a star? I. I don't think he's a star. He's not a star. He's not the biggest. Think how many stars are on that team.
Sam
Stars.
Rich
He's not a. He's a really good player. I think he deserves really good player money. Yeah.
Danny G
And rich, too, for Both of you. Do you think he's a top 10 quarterback in the NFL right now?
Sam
Ooh, I'd have to do that little annoying thing where I pull.
Rich
Great question.
Sam
Standing.
Danny G
Last month, Sports Illustrated came out with an article. They ranked this season's quarterbacks. I'll let you guess where they have them.
Rich
I'd have 16. I would say middle of the pack somewhere. That would be my guess.
Danny G
Buyer guess on that for where SI ranked Brock Birdie? Oh, he's showing me. He's showing me 10. He thinks 10 or 11.
Sam
Okay.
Rich
You know why? Because, yeah, he is very good, very productive. But is he like.
Sam
All right, hold on.
Rich
You know how Cam Newton always viewed himself? Like a difference maker in the simplest way.
Sam
I'll zip through this. I can see. Can we find 10 quarterbacks? We want more. Let's start in the AFC. Josh Allen. Yes. Tua. I don't think so. Jets? Patriots? No. Pittsburgh? No. Lamar Jackson. Yes. Joe Burrow. Yes. C.J. stroud. Yes. Indianapolis? I don't know. Taz Richardson? I mean, no. No. I don't know. Jacksonville? No. Kansas City? Yes. Mahomes. Justin Herbert? Yes.
Cavino
Bo.
Sam
Nick's is looking pretty good. Seven.
Rich
I don't know.
Sam
That's a. That's a close one. Jalen Hurts. Yes. You know Jaden Daniels. Yeah. Jared Goff.
Rich
Dak.
Danny G
Yeah.
Rich
Golf. Yeah.
Sam
Aaron Jordan. Love, man. Yeah, I think he's. I would say he's probably a 12 or 13. What do you. What do you got?
Danny G
So last month, SI ranked him this season as number six. They say for those of you who still believe he's not nothing more than a product of Kyle Shanahan scheme and playmakers, think again. He's propped up a Niners team that has been crushed by injuries. Then it gives his stats, says at the time they were three and three. He has an enormous chance to prove himself.
Rich
I'm just surprised they ranked him so high. But that's exactly what I said. He had more. One could argue he's shown how good he is this year with all the injuries than he has in previous years.
Danny G
Has he proven himself since that three and three moment, though, Rich? Because we're Nick Wright and other guys I've seen lately on TV are arguing, saying he's just after. And he's basically a mirror of the stars he has around him on offense. So if they're missing, then, you know, he doesn't step up as a superstar.
Sam
I think you look at Brock Purdy and again, I'm not avoiding the answer. Cavino, thanks for calling me out. I appreciate that because I didn't give my answer. But my answer is simply I don't think Brock Purdy is worth top tier money. I think if he's willing to take a Baker Mayfield, Daniel Jones contract he took a couple years ago. If you told Me Brock Purdy, 4 years, 160 a la the Daniel Jones contract a couple years ago, sign me up. But I don't think you give Brock Purdy $60 million a year. That's what you give a Lamar Jackson. That's what you give a Josh Allen and Mahomes. A guy that changes a bro, the.
Rich
Guy that changes the game.
Sam
Brock Purdy, give him even, I'll even say four years, 180. Anything more than that, I'm drafting a quarterback.
Rich
He's solid. There's no hate there.
Sam
45 mil. You think that's something to laugh at? If you go above 45 for Brock Purdy, I'm saying, yo, Brock, thank you so much. We're going to draft a quarterback and move along. Who do we got? Danny G. Let's go to your feedback. If you're the Niners and John Quinones popped out with his big head, what would you do?
Danny G
Let's start in Reno. Trevor.
Rich
Hey, Trevor. Hey, what's up, fellas?
Cavino
Thanks.
Rich
Thing call.
Cavino
So I'm Niners fan.
Danny G
I kind of agree with Rich.
Sam
I hope that we can get him.
Cavino
Around that 30, 40 million a year range.
Sam
But from what it sounds like, I.
Cavino
Don'T think he's saying he wants to reset the quarterback market at least all.
Sam
The comments that I've heard have kind of really entailed. Yeah, well, you know what I feel like, yo, bro, I feel like you and I are on the same page with a lot of Niners fans. You want him to get paid, but I mean, the 50, $60 million, I.
Rich
Don'T think he's the type that chases the bag either. He's not the Juan Soto of NFL players. You know, Again, his agents will probably steer him otherwise, but he's been a young kid, sort of humbled to be in this opportunity, surrounded by superstars from the get go. I can't imagine him all of a sudden thinking he's at superstar pay me level in that way.
Danny G
And the list you guys went over sounds like he'd be like 12th.
Sam
Yeah, I would feel like. And if you want to be generous because I was being a little hard on him, you know, this guy's like C.J. stroud that you could argue better. But Brock's up There. I think brock is around 10, right? He's a top. Would you argue to say he is a. If you broke the quarterbacks into thirds? Top. Third.
Rich
You like that? Russell.
Sam
Now he's better than Russell Wilson.
Rich
Better than Russell Wilson.
Sam
Russell.
Cavino
Yeah.
Sam
I would not take Russell Wilson. Okay, Danny G, who's next?
Danny G
All right, let's go to Texas. Dwayne.
Sam
Yo, Dwayne. What's up, man?
Rich
Hey, Dwayne.
Cavino
Hey, guys.
Danny G
Hey. When you mentioned that Sam Darnold could just walk in and take over Brock.
Cavino
Purdy's spot if he's still around, I.
Danny G
Think you're really giving a disservice to Kevin O'Connell. He's really good at quarterbacks.
Cavino
Example with the Josh Dobbs type thing.
Danny G
And if they could get Darnold for the mid level that you're talking about, 30, 40, I would take down the heartbeat because he had the seasoning of Kevin O'Connell under his belt.
Sam
Yeah, you know Kevin O'Connell, you know Kyle Shanahan is, you know, top tier coach. But they, they do say Kevin O'Connell is like a quarterback whisperer, like Cesar Milan is. To dogs. He is two quarterbacks. Who else?
Danny G
All right. Michael in Iowa.
Sam
Michael, what's up, bro?
Rich
Hey, Mike. Hey, guys. Hey. I think I should probably give Brock Purdy the Daniel Jones type money, which is like 40 some million dollars because obviously he's better than Daniel Jones. But a lot of people forgot about Daniel Jones is the fact that he was the. I'm sorry, Brock Purdy was the guy in Iowa State for three or four years. When he started, there was no better guy. He was always keeping that team afloat, always keeping the team within a cusp of a Big 12 championship or in a Big 12 championship. So that, you know, a lot of people forgot about that.
Sam
Yeah, you could, you could argue that Brock was drafted way lower than he could have been. There are people that thought Brock should have been a second or third round pick to begin with, but that's not how the cookie crumbled. He was the final Mr. Irrelevant Pick and that comes with a stigma. It's like if you start in your job in the mail room, chances are you have to leave to get respect somewhere else. Because very few times does that guy get the respect he deserves.
Cavino
To that collars point from Iowa, a lot was expected of Brock Purdy and Breeze hall in their senior year and they under delivered. They went like 7, 5 in the regular season. I think that was partially why he dropped because they didn't live up to.
Danny G
They had they beat Oregon in the.
Cavino
Fiesta bowl in the COVID year, the year before that.
Rich
So that's what makes him a great story, though, because he proved otherwise. So he'll get paid. It's how much is he willing to settle for and what is the best move for the 49ers? Your feedback at Covino and Rich, and we'll get to the rest of your phone calls. And Spotify Unwrapped came out today. We're going to do our little sports version of that Next. But first, D.B. what up, Dan?
Sam
Dan? What says you, man? Are you. If you're a John lynch and you're the Niners front office. 35, 45, 55. What is the Brock Purdy price tag?
Cavino
Yeah, I think it starts with a five, to be perfectly honest with you. Yeah, I do. I think that he is in a. In a magnificent spot for leverage right now.
Sam
I'm not putting you on the spot, but answer this. The general question, if not the Niners, what team is chasing Brock Purdy, though? Like, if the Niners like, yeah, no, thanks. Is there a team out there that's, like, sweet, we'll get Brock Purdy.
Cavino
You don't think the Giants would want him right now?
Sam
I don't know. Maybe.
Cavino
Yeah, I think they would. From what Danny's point is, what, seven? Was that the number that he had?
Sam
Yeah.
Cavino
Think about, hey, think of the Browns. Would you rather have a quarterback that. But I mean, yards are there. We've seen Jamis do what he does, but he's turning it over.
Sam
True. So maybe there is a home for Brock Saints.
Cavino
Yeah.
Sam
Ooh, good one, too.
Cavino
A lot of different spots. All right, we're all set for the party. I've trimmed the tree, hung the mistletoe, and paired all those weird shaped knives and forks with the appropriate cheeses. And I plugged in the Partisan. Partisan. It's a home cocktail maker that makes over 60 premium cocktails, plus a whole lot of seasonal favorites, too. I just got it for 50 off, so how about a Cosmopolitan or a mistletoe margarita?
Rich
I'm thirsty.
Cavino
Watch. I just pop in a capsule, choose my strength, and wow, it's beginning to feel more seasonal in here already. If your holiday party doesn't have a bartender, then you become the bartender. Unless you've got a Bartesian, because Bartesian crafts every cocktail perfectly in as little as 30 seconds. And I just got it for $50 off. Tis the season to be jollier.
Rich
Add some holiday flavor to every celebration with the sleek, sophisticated home cocktail maker Bartisian. Pick up your phone and shake it to get $50 off any cocktail maker. Yes, you heard me. Shake your phone and get $50 off.

Spotify Unwrapped came out today. And does everybody know what that is at this point? It came out in 2015. It started in 2015 as a thing and then they branded it as Spotify unwrapped in 20. And it's basically your re your year in review. And every streaming service has provided you with some sort of year in review. You're most listened to artists, you're most listen to song, that sort of thing. But it's a really fun experience, like a little video. You're sitting there all smiles watching your most listened to music, bro. In the past year and every year you look forward to it. And it's a fun day. And I got mine today if you.
Sam
Want to put a tingle in my holiday dingle when I see people say, oh, here's my Spotify Unwrapped. And their number one podcast is Cavino and Rich.
Rich
Oh, it's the best.
Sam
My goodness.
Rich
Post that. Tag us.
Sam
That might win you Swiggy. Danny G. If someone's Spotify Unwrapped shows that we're their number one podcast, you don't think that might earn a Swiggy?
Spot
I like that.
Rich
My top five bands totally prove that I'm an angry, divorced dad rock kind of guy, you know?
Sam
Let me guess. Linkin Park's on there?
Rich
Oh, yeah, it is. Number five, Limp Bizkit. It's like I'm in year 2000 or something. Number four was Sir Sly. He's like an alt rock guy. Number three, Sublime. Because they were on tour this year and I had introduced them to my daughter. I was listening to a lot of Sublime this summer.
Spot
That's her, Sly Stallone.
Rich
Sir Sly is like an alt rock guy. Number two was Linkin park. Because their new album came out. I was listening to a lot of Linkin Park. Saw him live. My number one artist this year was a guy named DEZ Rocks. And of all people, you know who I was? How do you say it?
Sam
Introduced.
Rich
Introduced to Des Rock by Dana White. Yeah, Dana White used a lot of DEZ Rocks for the UFC this year. And he talked about them and he said, yo, you got to hear about this dude. Des Rocks. I looked into him and I really got into him, and he was my number one. And based on that thought, based on your Spotify unwrapped or your Amazon reveal or whatever streaming service you have, however it works, who do you think was the top five athletes this year? And what were the top five stories that we talked about?
Sam
Yeah, if we did a Spotify unwrapped sports version. Think about it. Because Danny G, during our pre show meeting, you did point out.
Cavino
Yeah.
Sam
When people do these lists, sometimes they have a short memory and they forget that it's a long year.
Danny G
Yeah. They're only thinking about the last couple last few months.
Sam
What were you talking about in February and March? And I think if you're going to talk about the five stories we've talked about in the past 12 months, the.
Rich
Five stories are tough. The five athletes I think are simple. It's the first five that came to mind. Surprisingly, there's a big name that didn't make the list. I think.
Sam
I think. All right, let's go number five.
Rich
This is for me. Okay. According to me, this is what I think.
Sam
Number five. I love when we make it like Rick D's.
Rich
You know what? I changed my answer.
Sam
How? You can't change the countdown. Mid countdown. Has Spider Harrison ever done that?
Spot
You're wrapped as locked has secret.
Rich
Because I know what you're gonna say. Because if I say Aaron judging, like. Cause you're a Yankees guy and it really wasn't about him this year, even though he won the mvp. So I'm going number five. I was gonna leave him off. I'm leaving judge off. Number five, LeBron LeBron James. He did make the list. Because the whole Bronny story was huge.
Danny G
And before that, the Olympics.
Rich
And the Olympics and the in season.
Sam
Tournament and everything else.
Rich
Like LeBron James still makes the list. I was gonna leave him off, but you know what? Judge doesn't make the list.
Sam
Okay, can I give you number four?
Rich
Go ahead.
Cavino
Number four.
Sam
Went through a divorce, had a roast, became an announcer. We're forgetting we talked a lot about Tom Brady.
Rich
All right, I disagree with that, but I do. Really, I do. But I will keep him on there.
Cavino
Shouldn't you both give your fives and your fours so on and so forth?
Sam
No, I like to make it really awkward.
Cavino
You have your own list, don't you?
Danny G
Okay, I don't think we have time for that.
Cavino
All right, got about 90 seconds here.
Rich
I hate to say it. Aaron Rodgers still makes the list.
Danny G
Yeah, and I pointed that out to you guys. How many pre show meetings have we had where. Where I beg you not to talk. Aaron Rogers.
Rich
He begs us not to bring up Aaron Rodgers because he's such a big story all the time.
Danny G
Sick of hearing about Aaron Rodgers.
Rich
Oh, my God. I mean, it's just there's so many jets storylines. I know the hard knock stuff. Like, I mean, everything. Aaron Rodgers for sure.
Sam
Number two. Number three.
Cavino
You skipped over three, didn't you?
Spot
You did five and four.
Rich
Oh, wait, no.
Cavino
Okay, am I. Am I off here?
Sam
Is he off or am I off?
Rich
How does the.
Sam
We did Brady.
Spot
No.
Danny G
Oh, wait, you did judge.
Spot
No, Judge was off.
Rich
Judy judges left on LeBron.
Sam
I have an idea. I have an idea. Wait, I was. Sam.
Cavino
That's why I wanted you to do.
Danny G
Each of your own lists.
Sam
I was saying. You know what? This is one of those rare moments. I think you're right. When we come back, Covino and I have our own top five.
Danny G
Oh, man.
Sam
Spotify unwrapped athletes of 2024.
Cavino
Tease.
Rich
Tease.
Sam
Plus we're gonna get to midweek major with spot a lot of really cool stories that are in the world of pop culture and sports. We'll get to all those and of course, some NFL. But next, think about it. The top five athletes I already know.
Spot
How about the two of you think about it?
Rich
We're good. I think. Jump in. Two of you put some thought into this.
Sam
Well, then I'm out of here then. Have a good day.
Rich
Got Mark, Devino and Rich next.
Danny G
Oh, man.
Rich
These are my top five with no interruptions from Rich.
Sam
Number five athletes.
Rich
Number five.
Spot
I said don't lose count.
Rich
LeBron James. I was going to put judge in Here, I took him out. LeBron James, huh?
Sam
How noble of you.
Rich
Number four, Aaron Rodgers. Number three. Number three, Travis Kelce.
Spot
Ugh.
Cavino
Makes sense.
Rich
Uh huh. Uh huh. Number two, Shohei Ohtani.
Spot
Oh, yeah.
Rich
50, 50. Also a big story. And number one, I would say you're gonna love this. Number one, Caitlin Clark. Okay. Oh, come on. How could she not be, dude? She took the world by storm. So those are my top five athletes. My top five stories.
Sam
Now this is your own Spotify number five, wrapped in your mind, right? Like who you talked about the most.
Rich
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, in my opinion, everyone's gonna have like their own. That's the beauty of the Spotify wrapped or whatever. Right? Everybody has their own.
Sam
Yeah. Like you might say, oh, wow, I didn't realize how much Ed Sheeran I listened to.
Rich
Exactly. But you know what? Before I give you the top stories, Rich, let me hear your top five athletes.
Sam
My top five athletes base. Number five. What I feel that we talked about the most on the show. Number five, Tom Brady. Between the roast. The announcing dust just. Oh, TB12. His shirt off. The divorce. Giselle's having a baby. There was a million Tom Brady stories. So I think Tom Brady's definitely. If we did have a sports Spotify wrapped. Number four.
Cavino
Number four.
Sam
Aaron Rodgers. I mean, every day I feel like Danny G's like, stop it already. So number four, Aaron Rodgers. Number three, Mike Tyson. Oh, between the fight cancellation. The fight again. Tyson trivia. He's always on our mind on this show. We talk a lot of Mike Tyson. In fact, we have some pretty cool Mike Tyson news later on in the show. So we have Mike Tyson at number three.
Cavino
Number two.
Sam
Number two, S.H. otani. The battle with Aaron Judge. The gambling story. Was he involved? Was he not the World Series when.
Rich
You gambling story and his numbers this year, he might be the number one.
Sam
Ohtani and number one. Number one, Travis Kelce. He was just still everywhere. Treasure Travis Kelce. By far, number one.
Rich
Did you have Caitlin Clark on your.
Sam
I did not. Because I don't have Caitlin Clark. I didn't care.
Rich
She's number zero.
Sam
Sexist. I didn't care much to talk about her.
Danny G
Wow.
Cavino
We talk about her every day during the summer.
Sam
You guys did. And I was. And I rolled my eyes.
Rich
Okay.
Sam
She was googled billions of times.
Rich
As far as talked about story. Right. Because when you get your Spotify wrapped or there's all different sections. Right, right. So we're making up our own talked about story. I'm going with the Brady roast because it was A big deal at one point.
Sam
Number five.
Rich
Number four. I'm going with Juan Soto and where he ends up and the whole Soto storyline, I'm actually throwing him in there.
Spot
Still unfolding.
Rich
Number three, Taylor and Travis at number three. I know. Roll your eyes. That's the story. Number two, Shohei Ohtani. 50, 50. That's what I had down the 50, 50. Did it outweigh Aaron Judge, all the other stuff but Shohei Ohtani, number two.
Sam
Number one.
Rich
The Mike Tyson storyline this year was number one for me. I'm not putting him as like a top athlete. He had an exhibition fight. But as far as storyline it dragged out, we talked about it leading up to it. Then it got postponed. We dragged it out again and talked about it. Talked about it afterward. It just garnered so much conversation here on the show. So as far as talking about story as my number one, but as far as athlete Jake Paul, Tyson, they're not making the top five for me. But again, that's the beauty of it. It's going to be different for everybody. That's my top five stories. Talked about stories. Rich, what are your top five? And again, Fox Sports Radio Nation. Agree. Disagreeable. What are we forgetting? You know, add to your own, think about your own. Danny G. Any thoughts on what you've heard so far?
Cavino
No.
Danny G
I like your storyline so far. The one that came to mind for me because here and there over a couple of weeks, well, throughout the baseball season, in fact, we talked about MLB in Oakland and sports in Oakland in general.
Rich
That was a storyline. That was a big storyline for sure.
Sam
Now my top five, number five story. Now again, this is what I feel in my heart. We talked about this. This could be totally wrong.
Rich
Remember that the wrapped. It's very personalized, so it makes sense.
Sam
Yeah. I mean I feel like Ray Gun, the Breakdancer. I'm kidding. That is not. That is not on my list. And you know what missed my list? Travis and Taylor. I really feel like that was more last year while we did touch on it a lot, the whole swear jar every time we said their name. That was 20, 23.
Danny G
It was.
Sam
So it was.
Rich
I know that was. Yeah.
Sam
Because it culminated with the inning. It culminated with the super bowl in.
Danny G
January, February two season period.
Rich
Yeah. We started the year.
Danny G
Yes.
Sam
So it's still big, but I don't think it's top five.
Rich
Perhaps I had that too high.
Sam
Number five on what I feel like we touched on the most father son stuff. LeBron, Bronnie Griffey, Griffey Jr. We talked a lot about LeBron and AJ and Big Justice.
Rich
Okay.
Sam
He said fathers to good. That's what I'm saying.
Rich
Favorite father and son, number four.
Sam
I think number four. Again, this is what we talk about on the show. My fascination with what the Niners need to do with Brock Purdy, because it goes back to last year. Like, is Purdy awesome? Is he an elite guy?
Rich
Honestly, dude, you bring up the 49ers.
Sam
So I feel like Brock Purdy, it.
Danny G
Started with you driving alone through the desert, shouting, raising your fist at the heavens.
Sam
Purdy. When I drove home after the Super Bowl.
Rich
That's right.
Sam
All off season, it's like, pretty, pretty. So Brock Purdy, definitely number four for me. Number three. If I had my own Spotify wrapped. What I think we talked about most on the show. Number three. When it comes to baseball, Otani and Judge, there was a lot of. There's a lot of who's better? Who's the MVP. They're chasing records. 50, 50. Judge. There was a time of the year where Judge was unstoppable.
Rich
And remember, the postseason was so exciting for this show in particular, too, because you had Danny G's, Dodgers, the Yankees, the Mets. It was. It was just a great postseason. And.
Sam
And the only one that really made it to both my list. Number two. Number two, Mike Tyson, Jake Paul. I think we exhausted the hell out of that more than any other show. On Fox, espn, cbs.
Rich
We both had that at number one.
Sam
No, that's number two for me.
Rich
Oh, it's number two.
Sam
I really think that it was such a story that was in our wheelhouse of pop culture sports. The reminiscing of the nostalgia of Mike Tyson and Jake Paul being an unlikable but yet awesome influence.
Rich
Some people couldn't care less about it, like J. Stu and the Golip Show. So your number one is what then?
Sam
Number one, Green Bay College Basketball. No, number one.
Spot
What?
Sam
Number one. The Mets. Magic. Grimace Lindor. For me, that I was obsessed for a good month and a half with the Mets.
Rich
Were Grimace.
Sam
As. No, dude, listen. As Jerry Seinfeld was on WFAN in New York yesterday, and Seinfeld, hey, you know, I'm a Mets fan. And Seinfeld brought up an interesting point. Short of winning a World Series, the Mets really gave their fans arguably the most magical season you could give a fan base without.
Rich
I actually agree with that. It's very special.
Sam
Without winning it all. Without winning it all, the Mets gave that fan base more to cheer about other than the championship. It really was magical.
Rich
So for me, so Many amazing, like the amazing Mets moments this year for your team. So I agree with that.
Sam
But can we all agree in the room between Danny G. I was Sam Spotty, me, you, Dan Beyer. What do you think as a show we talked about the most on Kevin Onrich? Do you think it was Aaron Rodgers? Do you think it was.
Rich
I wish we had those.
Sam
Travis and Taylor. Do you think it was Mike Tyson, Danny?
Danny G
Well, I. Tyson was a big deal on our show, but also Patrick Mahomes, neither of you mentioned. Yeah, he's a staple on the show and a big storyline for the NFL leading into the season. Caleb Williams.
Sam
Yeah, we did talk a lot of Caleb.
Danny G
A lot about Caleb.
Rich
When you get your Spotify wrapped. And by the way, I don't care what streaming service you use or where you get this from. Right. There's always different little categories. And it was like your longest streak was. I listened to Des Rocks 10 days in a row.
Sam
Sad.
Rich
Do you think there was a streak of. We talked about Patrick Mahomes for like 10 days straight on every show. Like, I think Tyson would be on that list for sure. Aaron Judge and Shohei, they'd be on that. I bet we talked about them for weeks straight.
Sam
You know who would have a great perspective because he works not only with our show every day, and he's here a lot of the day, has his own show. Dan Beyer, db You're here every day. You do your own show. A respected man here at Fox Sports Radio. You hear our show.
Rich
Highly respected.
Sam
You're with Doug Gottlieb. You're all over the place. When you think of Cavino and Rich for real, like, what silly storyline do you feel like we exhausted.
Cavino
I'm surprised you guys think that you talked about Tyson as much as you did. I think it's because it's recent, because the fight had happened.
Sam
Okay.
Rich
It's very possible.
Cavino
I think that your number one topic, if I'm making it a combo, because I do think it's real. It's New York baseball. Not only was it the Mets push, but it was even before that in April and May when they stunk. Rich was not happy with it. Right.
Rich
He was quick.
Cavino
You've talked about their bullpen throughout the summer. And then when you think of the.
Sam
Playoffs, Clay Holmes, Cavino's love for Clay Holmes.
Rich
Now they're saying he might start for the Mets.
Cavino
You know, I had the Aaron Judge versus Caitlin Clark popularity.
Sam
Yeah, that was a big one.
Cavino
You guys talked about that. But obviously through the month of October, it was New York Baseball. And so I would say. So I can't just say Yankees and Mets because of both of your fandoms and how far they went, but I would think that would be number one.
Sam
Yeah. DB I think your hottest topic as a host and as an anchor and everything, you brought that Aaron Judge, Caitlin Clark topic to life. That every other show on the network was talking about that because of you.
Cavino
It was almost just by accident because Jason Stewart made the comment that when Judge was meeting Caitlin Clark, that it was a problem for Major League Baseball, that Clark was the more popular player. And I said, hold. Sec is way more popular.
Rich
And then the entire channel talked about that.
Cavino
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
Sam
Didn't I was Sam actually have an aneurysm during that conversation?
Rich
I did.
Cavino
I survived somehow. By the way, Rich, I know why you think Home Alone 2 is better.
Danny G
Than Home Alone 1.
Cavino
Because you guys are so New York City.
Rich
Yeah.
Spot
Lost in New York, New York.
Cavino
Of course.
Sam
You don't like the homeless bird lady.
Cavino
I actually, I love for the pigeon.
Rich
Buyer makes a great point. Like, because he's there listening to us BS every day. New York Baseball definitely took up a lot of the show, but the postseason was great. Like, I don't, I don't want to think that we're so Yankees met centric, but it was such a great season.
Cavino
There was reason to talk about, as I said, like, I remember Rich complaining about April and May and how the Mets were when they didn't have any expectations. And then.
Spot
What a roller coaster.
Danny G
Yeah.
Cavino
Then everything switched.
Rich
So that's our Cavino and Rich. Fox Sports Radio wrapped.
Sam
It's number two, Danny G's unrealistic Raiders expectations. Yeah. Playoffs, baby.
Cavino
Sears looking pretty good.
Sam
Gardner Mitchell, Pro Bowler.
Danny G
How about the Niners return to the Super Bowl? Shots fired.
Rich
Number one for me was Gardner Minshew's Mustang. Number one.
Sam
Oh, man, that's so funny.
Rich
So you know what? We just want you to think about yours because there is no stat. There's no wrapped. But what were your favorite storylines? What do you think it would say about you? What are those stories? What are those athletes for you?
Cavino
All right, we're all set for the party. I've trimmed the tree, hung the mistletoe, and paired all those weird shaped knives and forks with the appropriate cheeses. And I plugged in the Bartesian. Bartesian. It's a home cocktail maker that makes over 60 premium cocktails. Plus a whole lot of seasonal favorites, too. I just got it for 50 off, so how about a Cosmopolitan or a mistletoe margarita.
Rich
I'm thirsty.
Cavino
Watch. I just pop in a capsule, choose my strength and wow, it's beginning to feel more seasonal in here already. If your holiday party doesn't have a bartender, then you become the bartender. Unless you've got a Bartesian, because Bartesian crafts every cocktail perfectly in as little as 30 seconds. And I just got it for $50 off. Tis the season to be jollier.
Rich
Add some holiday flavor to every celebration with the sleek, sophisticated home cocktail maker. Pick up your phone and shake it to get $50 off any cocktail maker. Yes, you heard me. Shake your phone and get $50 off. Don't delay.

Sam
Very few companies who go viral are.
Cavino
Like, totally prepared for what that means. And Zoe Tillman, senior legal reporter, Courts are not supposed to decide elections. Courts are not really supposed to play a big role in choosing using our elected leaders. That's for the voters to decide. Stan, Anya and I met through hockey and now we're married and moms to two awesome toddlers. And on our new podcast, Moms who Puck, we're opening up about the chaos of our daily lives. Between the juggle of being athletes, raising children and all the messiness in between, we're also turning to fellow athletes and beyond to learn about their parenthood journeys and collect valuable advice like FIFA World.
Sam
Cup winner Ashlyn Harris.
Cavino
I wish my village would have prepared me for how hard motherhood was going to be. And peloton instructor and ratchet mom club founder Kirsten Ferguson.
Danny G
And I remember going in there.
Rich
A hot mess.
Cavino
So listen to Moms who Puck, a production of I Heart Women's sports and Deep Blue sports and Entertainment on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts presented by Elf Beauty, founding partner of iHeart Women's Sports. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired? Depressed? A little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country.
Sam
I planted the flag and just kind.
Spot
Of looked out of like, this is mine.
Rich
I own this.
Cavino
It's surprisingly easy.
Sam
55 gallons of water for 500 pounds.
Cavino
Of concrete and everybody's doing it.
Danny G
I am King Ernest Emmanuel.
Cavino
I am the Queen of Lidonia.
Rich
I'm Jackson I, King of Capperburg.
Cavino
I am the supreme leader of the Grand Republic of Montonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition.
Sam
But why can't I trade my own country? My forefathers did that themselves.
Cavino
What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead.
Sam
Oh, my God. What is that?
Cavino
Bullas bullet holes. We need help. We still have the off road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan and we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from zaqistan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Rich
Tomorrow's not only our holiday party, self promoting and old school. When 50 hits, we throw it back on Thursdays and reminisce. But we're gonna read reviews tomorrow. So if you have Apple podcasts and you follow Cavino and Rich, leave a review and if we call your name tomorrow, we send you. Or we, meaning Danny G. Sends you a Swiggy and you can keep it, you can re gift it, you can do whatever you want with it. But it's our way of saying thanks and happy holidays. So leave a review, a good review, and you qualify for a swiggy tomorrow on the show.
Sam
Tanny G's like, we. What are we friends?
Rich
Yo, We. We. Nothing.
Danny G
This is a great one star review that I'm gonna lead off with.
Cavino
Tom.
Sam
Perfect. These guys stink. Give me my cup.
Rich
As long as we read it, right? As long as we read it, you win a swiggy. So there you go.
Danny G
It'll stand out more if it's 5 stars.
Sam
Someone yesterday we had one great comment because we were talking about that golden at bat. Someone goes, sounds like guys that don't watch one baseball game. I'm like, sadly, quite the opposite. Covino watches 162 Yankees.
Rich
Dan Byers said, we talked about that.
Sam
Let's do this midweek.
Cavino
Major Cavino and Rich get you over the middle of the week with mid week. Major.
Danny G
Major.
Sam
Oh, I love that.
Cavino
We throw sports and pop culture headlines.
Rich
And topics at the fellas.
Sam
And it's like the kids say, that's so mid week.
Cavino
Definitely major CNR scoring midweek.
Danny G
Oh.
Rich
Yeah.
Cavino
Yeah, that.
Rich
Good one, bro. I liked it.
Danny G
You hear the horns. That means you have made it to the middle of the week. Before we hand things over to the number one and only host of the segment, we like to roll the two big red love dice the main studio to see who gets first take.
Rich
I thought the horns mean you do the Donald Trump dance to it.
Sam
That's the most popular dance of 2025. I'm sorry, it's 2024. All right, you got a six?
Rich
Yeah, I got a six.
Sam
Let's go.
Danny G
All right. So rich, rolling.
Sam
Oh, six. Look at that, a tie.
Rich
All right, it's a roll each.
Spot
Roll one each Roll one.
Sam
Ah, six again. I wish I was at the craps table with a six. Oh, my God. Six again.
Cavino
I got you each roll one.
Rich
You each roll one.
Danny G
This has never happened. Shut up.
Rich
Wait, I didn't say I numbers.
Spot
Are these loaded dice? What happened?
Rich
It's the number of the beast.
Cavino
The number of the beast.
Danny G
If we go into triple.
Spot
Oh, my God.
Rich
Dude, that's the first time ever. Triple.
Cavino
You just couldn't lie and say, like.
Sam
Integrity.
Spot
Show of integrity, please.
Danny G
All right. And now, ladies and gentlemen, the most famous person besides Judy Bloom from Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Spotty, by the way, on spot.
Sam
Spotify wrapped number one show for Judy Blum. Mentions.
Spot
Absolutely 52 mentions this year.
Rich
All right.
Spot
Rich, this is to you. I'll throw this out since it's hot off the press. Christian McCaffrey, coming off his season and season ending injury just penned an emotional note to the fans released on his Instagram earlier today. Yeah, he said, you know, just to summarize it, this wasn't my year. And sometimes when it rains, it pours. You can feel sorry for yourself and listen to the birds or you can hold the line. He said he's grateful for the support of everyone in his corner, promises to work smarter and harder and come back better from this. So he's letting us, letting the fans know he plans to work hard in the off season and get back at it next season. Midweek or major?
Sam
I listen, I think it's major.
Cavino
Definitely major.
Sam
Maybe the most explosive offensive player in the year. Just, hey, listen, like you said, when it rains, it pours sometimes. You know, he works hard. You've seen some of his off season training videos. The guy's a machine. And listen, he's getting older, but he still has gas in the tank. I think McCaffrey will come back stronger and better. And sometimes, you know, like you said, sometimes things just don't go your way.
Spot
Great use of cliches. I feel like this, you're just describing a bunch of cliches right now.
Rich
I could have agreed more with you spot right there, man. You know what? I also agreed. I also agree major because he's Christian comes around.
Sam
Am I right?
Rich
But I think maybe working too hard may have put him in this position. He works and trains maybe way too hard than necessary.
Sam
So that's why smarter. Yeah, yeah.
Rich
But extra wear and tear on the body. And I believe Colin Kelly said today he's peaked. He has. And that doesn't mean he's not going to be great. But you think he's going to be better after all these injuries? Big dreaming, bruh. And I'm not rooting against the guy, but he's had a tough season. I wish him the best. It's a major story, but I don't think he's gonna be better as a result of all this.
Sam
I blame that damn Madden. The curse.
Cavino
There you go.
Sam
What else?
Spot
All right, well, here's a fun one for you. So as you Before John Elway became the legendary quarterback for the Denver Broncos, he had a brief state with the Yankees. He played one quick season. I don't even know it was a.
Sam
Full season in the minor leagues.
Cavino
Minor leagues.
Spot
Yeah, that's what I was saying. Let me finish my story, rich. In 1981 actually drafted six spots ahead of Tony Gwynn. Well, tops is commemorating his brief stint with the Yankees by actually releasing a special edition baseball card as part of their 2024 Bowman draft set. And to announce the addition, this is what makes even more fun. They enlisted Larry David to reprise his role as George Steinbrenner. You know, they always film for the back of the head, like doing a mock thing of the 1981 draft show.
Rich
Again, we need to draft John Ollie, John Olay.
Spot
So, yeah, that video is available online. The set is actually out right now. It's a 200 card set. So maybe if you get enough of them, you can find that John Elway card midweek or major.
Sam
I think it's mid. For collectors, it's major. Listen, if you watch the docu series, the 30 for 30, Elway to Marino, it is wild to think that Steinbrenner and the Yankees had Elway slated in the opening day lineup. And then an Elway would have played baseball had the Colts followed through and said, no, we're drafting you. So I think it's pretty cool, Elway to think he could have been in the starting lineup for the Yankees. The fact that he did end up winning a couple Super Bowls, went to five, proves that he made the right choice in the NFL. But pretty cool that Elway will get a baseball card.
Rich
It's. It's on the borderline of mid and major. But since Rich said mid, I'll go major because it's John Elway. And I think that's one of those forgotten stories. Like, man, this dude was penciled in there with Don Mattingly starting in right field. John Elway. That's insane. Like, a lot of people forget about that. So if a card reminds people of that, I think that's cool. But what makes it mid is they're giving cards to anybody. The beehive guy from Arizona, remember that? That was a big story this year. He got a card. So, I mean, the fact that John Elway's getting one, I think it's well deserved and long overdue. Kind of cool. Something to look forward to. Like I said, it's right there between mid and major. I'll go major because it's John Elway.
Sam
By the way, athletes that play multiple sports, I'm always fascinated by. If you haven't seen the club floating around social media since Jameis Winston's like, lightening up and, you know, playing the way he's playing, did you see the clip of him and Carlos Correa playing with each Other.
Cavino
In college.
Sam
In college. And there's one play people are showing where he rifles a guy out from right field. Like you can tell it's a quarterback arm in right field.
Rich
Yeah, he had a cannon.
Spot
All right, Kavina, this one's for you.
Rich
Okay?
Spot
I know you love, you love these guys. Your favorite Internet sensation, Big justice, just beat Bryce Harper, none other than Bryce Harper in a home run challenge hosted by Internet. Internet celeb Mr. Beast. In the video, world famous athletes like Carper, as well as Cristiano Ronaldo and Noah Lyles were put against average humans like Big justice to win $100,000. So Bryce Harper went against the 11 year old Big justice for 100,000. Harper's, of course, if he won, would go to charity. Big justice getting to keep the money since there was an unfair advantage between the two. Harper had to hit a home run out of a major league stadium, and Mr. Beast allowed big justice to hit it out of a Little League stadium with an aluminum bat. So I know at the end of the day, Big justice got five home runs. Bryce Harper only got four, so he ended up winning it. So there's a little asterisk on the headline, but there you go. Midweek or major?
Rich
It's the most major story of the day by far. It really is. And to make it clear, definitely major. They're the Costco guys that have gone viral. Big.
Spot
How would you not know that?
Rich
Big AJ's the dad, big justice is the kid.
Spot
They bring the boom.
Sam
By the way, how old, how old is AJ?
Spot
Oh, AJ.
Sam
Oh, I'm sorry. Big justice.
Spot
11.
Rich
Yeah, he's 11 years old.
Sam
So he's still in the Middle East.
Rich
Brings the boom like his dad. And he hit. I think Bryce Harper hit four home runs and he beat that winning $100,000. And I think this completely proves that he's better than Bryce Harper. So major. Yes, definitely major.
Sam
You know what? I am impressed though. It's major. And I'll tell you what, Major. If he was like 13 or 14 and he was on a Little League field, 180 dimensions, I'd be like, come on. But the reality is he's an 11 year old, which he would play on the Little League field.
Rich
Honestly, if I were the Phillies, I'd get rid of Harper and definitely get.
Sam
Yeah, that's probably what he should do.
Rich
Big Justice. That's what I think.
Sam
In a related story, did you see the Tom Brady one where they had some young high school football player, he beat Tom Brady in target practice in a very similar Mr. Beast stunt. So, hey, you could be Tom Brady.
Rich
Brady or Bryce Harper in anything. That's a bragging, right? Yeah.
Sam
Pretty cool. I think Mr. Beast showing why he's the number one guy on social media. Right?
Spot
All right, Travis.
Rich
Kel just.
Spot
I hate, hate doing it. Travis Kelsey opened up about his performance this season on the latest episode of the New Heights podcast. Addressing his quote, lack of chemistry with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, he said, I'm not. I'm just not on the same page as Pat. It can get frustrated. Acknowledge that once he gets in the end the red zone, he gets hungrier but just can't find his way to the end zone. He says that they find a way to win, but they're not playing their best football. So maybe first step is admitting it. Who knows what's going to come next, Midweek or major.
Sam
This is the weakest thing ever.
Danny G
You're welcome.
Rich
Only because can't win them all week.
Spot
I want to hear about his and Taylor's Christmas plans because I can give you that.
Sam
No, no. It's a good story. Spot week only be because the reality is the Chiefs aren't playing their best football yet. They're still 11 and 1. So it's like, oh God, could the. Could the Bills or Ravens or someone do us a favor come January because no one wants to see a three peat unless you live in Kansas City.
Spot
Jason Kelsey says it's their T voodoo that's causing them Taylor voodoo.
Rich
I saw that. Yeah. You know, I think it's a major story. They've been playing all these seasons together and they've lost rhythm and chemistry somehow. I blame the political landscape than political divide they had throughout the election.
Sam
You blame Biden and Trump. I do.
Rich
I do. Something. Something is stirring. If they've lost chemistry somehow. They've been playing together for years. I think that speaks volumes for him to come clean and admit that on a podcast. I think more than meets the eye there.
Spot
Something's not right since you mentioned the P word. Politics aside, I'll say that we all felt a little bit of a loss after Kirk Herbstreet lost his beloved dog Ben last month, who was a gay, a staple on college game day. Well, Herb street shared that he received a personal note from President Joe Biden.
Rich
Wow.
Spot
Sharing his appreciation and compassion over the loss of Ben. The letter read sum it up. I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Ben. Ben brought so much comfort and unconditional love to millions of Americans across our nation. Went on to say that he. He Hopes Kirk can find comfort in cherishing the memories he shared. Ending with. He was a good boy. So a very sweet little nod from the President of the United States. Midweek or Major.
Sam
I think it's lovely. Major.
Cavino
Definitely Major.
Sam
Does Biden know he wrote the letter?
Spot
He probably. He just signed it.
Rich
I'm glad Rich said that. But you know what?
Danny G
Let's be honest.
Rich
I'm going to say major, too. Any acknowledgement from any president, I think is a major honor, regardless of your political affiliations. An acknowledgement because your dog died. That's incredible.
Sam
Listen, as major as it gets, I've said this before. I hate having to say politics aside, but it would be an honor to meet any president, whether it's Biden, Trump, Bush, Clinton, you name it. To me, meeting the president, you gotta put politics aside. It's just an honor.
Rich
And imagine, first of all, your dog dies. That's a horrible situation for anybody. Right. But imagine you're. Your president acknowledges that.
Sam
That's pretty.
Cavino
Pretty wild.
Sam
That is.
Rich
That's a major story.
Sam
And I did give props to our buddy Clinton Yates, who we worked with at espn. Yeah, he welcomed Dababy, I believe. And he got a letter from Tim Kaine, politician, and he posted. I was like, that's pretty wild that they, like, you get a congratulations from a pretty significant political figure, Mickey Mouse.
Rich
And what, you reached out to Clinton?
Cavino
Yeah.
Rich
I said you kiss in ass.
Cavino
Yeah.
Rich
Rich kids in ass.
Sam
He was always nice to us.
Rich
Well, it's Hard Knocks. Hard Knocks is back. And Danny G. I gotta catch up. It debuted last night, right?
Danny G
Yeah, it's good.
Rich
It's AFC North.
Danny G
Yeah. And so it shows. They go back and forth to all the different meeting rooms between the teams, and they're gonna play against each other in the same division. And so you could see how the coaches are preparing to play against their nemesis.
Rich
You know what I was doing, honestly? I was finishing wrapping up the JonBenet Ramsey docu series on Netflix. And I have no clarity, I'll be honest.
Sam
All these years, I'm trying to. Every night the kids finally get to sleep, and I'm trying to finish Penguin on HBO Max, which is awesome. I'm finally up to the last episode. But, you know, when you start something, you start dozing off and you're like, I can't sleep during this. It's too good. Yeah.
Rich
It's called edibles, Richard. Maybe you should lay off them.
Sam
I haven't taken edibles. I'm so tired. I haven't had to take it edible in weeks.
Spot
That's how I feel about the show every afternoon.
Danny G
Oh, thanks, by the way, Cove. As Mike Tomlin and the Steelers were getting ready to face Joe Burrow in the Bengals, they give Burrow so much love. They call it the Joe Burrow plan. It's up on the big screen, and they have this whole plan about how Joe Burrow cannot beat them. They give them so much respect. And then the show goes into Joe Burrow on the practice field. And that's where this story comes from. You're about to dive into.
Rich
The Steelers were preparing basically off Joe Burrow. And that leads to Joe Burrow there. And he has a Batmobile on the show. Apparently he paid $2.9 million for it.
Danny G
It's on order. He doesn't have it yet.
Rich
He told his teammate, well, I saw the image. So. Okay, so I see the image. I didn't watch it yet. Joe Burrow, and people are talking about it. He pays $2.9 million for the Batmobile, and you're like, damn, for real?
Spot
It's a replica of the Christopher Nolan. Yeah. Dark Knight trilogy.
Rich
Batmobile. Just that big tank style thing. It's legit. And I guess he's a big fan. Clearly, if he's willing to spend $3 million on a Batmobile. Not the old school 60s one that Sam's referencing there, but it does make you think, like, man, it must be good to be Joe Burrow to just buy whatever the heck you want. Buy the toys that you dreamt of. It's like buying a DeLorean with all the fixings just for the fun of it.
Spot
Yeah. And here's what's crazy about it, is while it does drive, it's not street legal. So he can't.
Rich
Yeah, it doesn't look street legal. Can't drive it around town. Right.
Spot
Can't drive it to games.
Danny G
Yeah, but when you have as much money as he does, he can. He can drive it around his own compound.
Sam
Can we play a little game of perspective for a moment?
Rich
Sure.
Danny G
Rich show.
Sam
Burrow, when all said and done, makes what, 50, $60 million a year? Him spending $3 million on a Batmobile is like someone that makes $100,000, but really spending five grand.
Rich
It's just a toy to him, though, because, like Spot said, you can't take it on the street.
Sam
But I remember, like, someone saying, like, can you believe Beyonce and Jay Z have, like, a gold plated toilet or something? I'm like, do you know how much money they have?
Danny G
Same.
Sam
I mean, it's Joe burrow. Buying a $3,000,000 toy is like you buying a $5,000 Rolex. Actually, no. That's like someone that makes $100,000 buying a $5,000Rolex.
Cavino
Like, what are you saying?
Sam
I'm saying it's nothing to Joe Burrow.
Cavino
You were tipping your hand to.
Danny G
For the homeless people.
Sam
You think Camino. Camino makes more than $100,000? I'm saying someone that makes you. I mean, someone that makes. I'm saying someone that makes, let's say, $100,000 round number them spending 5% of their salary on something. What would be next?
Rich
Purchase kit. What's his.
Sam
Delorean.
Rich
Yeah. No, really.
Sam
You know what's pretty cool? You know the car, the Rivian.
Rich
He has two chips, motorcycles.
Sam
You know the Rivian? It's, like, electric. Really, like a high end. Yeah.
Danny G
It's got the kit light in the front.
Sam
The. The Rivian has settings for. You can make it kit. Or the DeLorean. Get out of here and wait.
Cavino
Kit. Like Night rider.
Sam
My daughter's best friend's par. Have a Rivian. And, like, the guy's like, yo, come here. Check this out. He has, like, November 5, 1955. The whole dash and the back dash.
Rich
Yeah.
Sam
Which, because they have a dash in the second row, is the flux capacitor.
Spot
No way.
Rich
No way.
Sam
It's sweet.
Cavino
Wow.
Spot
Does the outside light up when you go 88?
Sam
No, the outside lights up when you open the doors. Based on what season it is, maybe.
Rich
We'Ll have to talk about this tomorrow because it does raise a lot of questions. It's like, if you had endless means, endless limits, endless funds, what would be that silly purchase for you? And it does also make you think of. Is that the ultimate, like, car? Would you. Or would you buy the General Lee or something? Like, it does make you think of the other, like, cars in Hollywood, right?
Sam
I would buy the Scooby Doo van. No. What would you buy if you had to buy a car? Would you buy the 18 mobile?
Rich
No, but what would be the biggest bragging, right? Like, your biggest flex. It's like when David Wells was just, like, effort. I'm wearing the Babe Ruth hat on the mound. Like, that was so cool when he did that.
Sam
He wore Babe Ruth's hat. As far as fans, famous cars. Oh, you and I should. You and I should come to work on the two motorcycles from Chips, Baker, and Punch.
Rich
Maybe we should.
Sam
I don't know.
Rich
So Peewee's bike, Pee Wee's bike could be another one. I like that, too. La la, la.
Cavino
La la, la, la.
Danny G
I would buy Disneyland. That way my wife could go as much as she wants without a season pass.
Rich
The whole park. That's pretty wild. I was like, danny, I didn't even think that.
Sam
We'll just buy you a pass.
Spot
Yeah, we'll just buy you a season pass.
Rich
You know what? Think about it. We'll talk about it tomorrow. What would be your crazy purchase?
Sam
All right. Until then. Arrivederci, baby.
Rich
See you in the promised land.
Cavino
Rich
Add some holiday flavor to every celebration with the sleek, sophisticated home cocktail maker. Pick up your phone and shake it to get $50 off any cocktail maker. Yes, you heard me. Shake your phone and get $50 off. Don't delay.
Cavino
