Dan Byer
Find your local station for Cavino and rich@foxsportsradio.com or stream us live every day on the iHeartRadio app by searching FSR Game 6 at the Garden. Is this one of the biggest moments at the Garden in recent history?
Kavino
Well, I think the answer is simple. We'll get to all that.
Dan Byer
What's the atmosphere gonna be like? We'll break it down. We'll explain. Like I said, we reminisce. And we throw it back on Thursdays. Let's just say it involves animals today. Animals in entertainment.
Kavino
It doesn't involve Tootsie Rolls. Yeah, I'm avoiding that news.
Dan Byer
No Tootsie Rolls. In fact, I was gonna eat one today and pass.
Kavino
No, thanks.
Dan Byer
No more Tootsie Rolls for this guy.
Kavino
No, no, Diddy. All right, I had a question for you based on today being the anniversary of something we all watch as a kid, like, a million times. You remember when you were a kid, somehow, some way, the same reruns always aired. Whether it was rerun taping the Doobie Brothers or I'm sorry, Raj, I didn't know. It's on the Brady Bunch, Marcia breaking her nose, or the Hawaii episode, Doo Doo Doo. We always saw the same episodes. You guys remember on Gilligan's Island? Somehow, some way, the Harlem Globetrotters found their way onto the island.
Dan Byer
I do.
Rich Davis
I never saw that one even as a kid.
Kavino
I'm like, how did this even happen, by the way?
Dan Byer
The Globetrotters from Harlem, by the way.
Kavino
Yes.
Dan Byer
Even found their way on to Scooby Doo.
Kavino
They had a moment.
Dan Byer
Yeah. Growing up, crossover episodes like that always stood out and always got extra airplay, by the way. You know why we did the research on this? I always thought it was a weird phenomenon. Like, hey, I never watched Seinfeld, but every time I sit down, it's the same episode. I think everybody feels that way, right? Like, I never watch X, Y or Z. I never watch Friends, but every time I put it on, it's the same one.
Kavino
What are the chances I've seen this King of Queens episode?
Dan Byer
You know, the reason is these are the episodes that tested the highest. The most popular episodes, the highest rated ones. So they air them more often, and that's why you tend to see them. It's not some weird coincidence that only happens to you But I've always felt that way, Rich. Like, I rarely watch Saved by the Bell, but every time I sit down, there's a stupid duck covered in oil or something. You know, I've seen this one.
Kavino
I'm so excited.
Dan Byer
I've seen this one.
Kavino
So I bring this up because that very popular Harlem Globetrotters episode of of Gilligan's island first air today in 1981. And my dumb question is, we all grew up loving the Harlem Globetrotters. I remember seeing them at Nassau Coliseum like your family would go have. The Savannah bananas in 2025 equaled the popularity of the height of the Harlem Globetrotters yet.
Dan Byer
Oh, oh, okay. Well, hold on.
Kavino
They're selling out stadiums.
Dan Byer
I was going to say they just recently sold out another stadium. It was Fenway for a minute. Right now it's something else. Something in the news recently about, can you believe they sold out something else? What they've done is insane. Their popularity again just grew, exploded through social media. It got to the point where you were seeing these things and you're like, what is going on? And then now your wife and girlfriend are like, I love the Savannah Bananas. Everybody wants to see them. They are the modern day Globetrotters, no doubt. Are they as popular? I don't know about that yet.
Kavino
I'm saying the way when I see.
Dan Byer
Them, when I see them at Gilligan's island, then I'll say, yeah, when you.
Kavino
Would see Curtly Neil putting the ball behind his back or throwing confetti out of a bucket, we. Are we glamorizing that? Are the Savannah Bananas coming up to the bat, Coming up to the plate with a bat on fire, flipping before catching a fly ball. Are they doing as much or more than the Globetrotters involvement?
Dan Byer
I don't know, but I don't want to downplay how great the Globetrotters were either. I never got a chance to see him, but I did get. Look, we grew up working in radio, right? Yeah. And one time I had, like, giveaways to see the Harlem Globetrotters. And I was like, I gave them to my family and they went. I was supposed to give them the listeners or whatever. I'm like, yeah, sure.
Kavino
Hey, mom and dad, you listen. Here you go.
Dan Byer
Here you go. My parents. Listen, take the kids. I had little siblings. They all went. They still talk about, like, what an amazing time they had at the Garden. And of course, the Globetrotters only lost, like, one game ever, right? To the Generals or whatever is that.
Kavino
That's the rumor, right? Like, they lost Once. Yeah.
Dan Byer
I think they've lost one time. But I don't want to downplay how big and great they were with fan involvement and pop culture and how everybody for decades always debated could they be or compete with an NBA team. I don't know if anyone's really saying that about the Savannah Bananas at this point, but as far as entertainment and as far as where they are now, they are easily the modern day Globetrotters more popular now than the Globetrotters. Without a doubt. And we've. We've hung out with the Globetrotters in recent history. In the past five years or so.
Kavino
When we were.
Dan Byer
They're still doing it. Yeah.
Kavino
When we were espn, we did a bit with the Harlem Globetrotters where they taught us how to do some moves. And you can probably find the video if you search hard enough on social media. But we got to hang with the modern day current Globetrotters.
Dan Byer
Yeah. And it's still an honor. It's still difficult to make that squad. They added the first female to the squad in recent history. So there's still a market for the Globetrotters, but the Savannah Bananas definitely have taken it next level.
Kavino
I, you know, I got asked a question. Danny G. I was Sam. Dan Byer. Have in your mind, have the Savannah Bananas leapfrog the Harlem Globetrotters as the number one sports show as far as like a game. Like a game of. That's a show of sorts. Gimmick. And.
Danny G
No, no. I think you'd be. Have to be a prisoner of the moment to do it.
Kavino
The Globetrotters history is still. Yeah, yeah.
Danny G
Worldwide.
Rich Davis
Could the Globetrotters sell out a NFL stadium right now, though?
Kavino
I just feel like, yeah, I don't want to live in the moment. I know that's. That's a thing we do a lot in the world of sports. Like, we'll see someone, you know, have an amazing performance, be a greatest ever.
Dan Byer
Yeah. But DB also said something. I'm glad, Dan. Cause I would have forgot. Honestly, it was on the tip my tongue before Worldwide. I think that is the difference. And I think that the Globetrotters were around in a time where they were a traveling spectacle and people love them worldwide. Pop culture relevance to the point where you said they were on Gilligan's island and Scooby Doo. And Scooby Doo and everybody, hey, everybody tried to spin that ball. NBA players try to do that because they saw the Globetrotters do it. We all did. And we did that whistle because the Globetrotters did. So like I said, Before. I don't want to downplay their importance by lifting the Savannah Bananas past them, but they are the current day team and they've got that momentum. No doubt.
Rich Davis
When you guys interviewed them, Rich, did they teach you how to spin the ball in your big head?
Kavino
They did. They did.
Dan Byer
You know what spun Rich's head?
Kavino
Believe it or not, Kavino has a skill of spinning a basketball.
Dan Byer
We.
Kavino
I just remember hanging out with the Globetrotters and thinking like, yeah, this is a Globetrotters. It is a big deal.
Dan Byer
It is a big deal. And they have legacy. Yeah. And I agree with DB in the sense that I don't think the Savannah Bananas are worldwide recognizable yet. Where the Globetrotters were.
Kavino
If I asked you, if I asked.
Dan Byer
You here in America and right, right now, man, they are killing it. And good for them. It's a lot of fun. A lot of fun for the family. And they've done a great job marketing themselves on social media. It's incredible.
Kavino
Ask yourself this. If we were doing a contest here on Fox Sports Radio or forget that even the workers here, if you found out we got some tickets to give away, do you think the demand on the phone lines, if we said, hey.
Dan Byer
We'Re going to play a game and.
Kavino
We'Re giving away if the prize was Globetrotter tickets at Crypto or the Savannah. The Savannah Bananas are playing at Dodger Stadium. What do you think would be like, oh, man, I gotta go again.
Dan Byer
It's like comparing an old act versus a new act. The new act's gonna wanna. Is gonna be more popular at the moment.
Kavino
Yeah.
Dan Byer
You know who do you love? Pink Pony Club. What's her name?
Kavino
I don't love her, but yeah, Chaperone. I don't love her, but go on.
Dan Byer
More people would want to see Chapel Ron than Madonna, but Madonna is a million times bigger than Chapel Roan. Right. Chapel Ronge is hot right now though.
Kavino
She's hot to go.
Dan Byer
She's hot.
Iowa Sam
She'S hot to try.
Dan Byer
So yeah, I think they're both incredible. And the reason we're bringing this up, by the way, is today's the anniversary of that episode.
Kavino
Don't ask me why. I saw it on social media and I just remembered sitting in my grandparents living room with their big ass TV set. That was a piece of furniture. And I feel like I always saw that episode of the Globetrotters hanging on Gilligan's Island. And the first airing was on this day and in 1981. And it got me thinking, when we were kids, the Globetrotters between that and Scooby Doo, they were very mainstream, popular. And I feel like the Savannah Bananas right now are having a moment.
Dan Byer
And by the way, hold on, hold up. We all remember a special Saturday Sunday afternoon special broadcast on the weekends of when the Globetrotters aired. It was like a big deal. Like, oh, the Globetrotters are on tv. I haven't seen that with the Savannah Bananas yet.
Kavino
Yeah.
Danny G
There's also a point in. In my life, and I don't want to speak for you guys, but where I thought the Globetrotter Trotters would just destroy the Celtics or Lakers. Like. Like, I felt like they were. So. I didn't understand the concept of what they were and who they were, but there was no way that Magic Johnson or Larry Bird would be able.
Kavino
I mean, in my mind, I was like, Magic Johnson. How about Curly Neal?
Danny G
Exactly.
Dan Byer
Who we interviewed? Honestly, it was an honor.
Danny G
Yeah, for sure.
Dan Byer
Absolutely. But they're on their way, Rich. They're really on their way. And they're selling out. Like Danny G. Said, football stadiums now, which is incredible.
Kavino
Now do you think the Savannah Bananas.
Dan Byer
It went from these dudes doing choreography on social media to now selling out football stadiums.
Kavino
The Savannah Bananas skill level, would you equate it to solid minor league ball players that could do a backflip on a routine fly ball and then catch the ball? Or like, you ever see some of these infielders, they'll hit the ball against the ground, pop it up barehanded, like, it's a skill, man.
Dan Byer
It requires a little more than that. They have to be personable and have a gimmick, and they have to be kind of handsome. They're. They're definitely good looking, cool dudes. My girlfriend let me know about it. She's like, they're kind of hot. Well, so now you're a banana.
Kavino
Kavito says, girlfriend's search history. And it was kind of bananas. Onlyfans.
Danny G
I don't mean to put you guys on the spot, but I don't know if you know the answer offhand. Like, how. How hard do they throw? I mean, like, it's. It can't be 50, but I don't expect it to be.
Dan Byer
Are they wearing stilts or not wearing stilts?
Kavino
So I think that's.
Dan Byer
That should be part of the question.
Kavino
Here, you know, Dan, my guess is in the 80s to 90. I don't think they're these. We're not. This is not a middle. Infielders pitching the ninth inning in a.
Danny G
Yeah, they're throwing some heat, but nobody's throwing 98. You know, nobody's coming in and blowing the doors off. Anybody at 102? I don't think that's happening.
Kavino
Hold on, I'm going to look it up. How fast did the Savannah Bananas pitch? I'm sure we'll find out. How fast do the Savannah Bananas pitch a baseball?
Danny G
And again, this should have been me searching it and saying, guys, do you.
Kavino
Know the Savannah Bananas have pitchers that throw in the high 80s to low 90s, typically with some for the hell of it, are hitting 99, like on, you know, but when they're doing like, let me flip the ball in the air, grab it and throw it, they're still throwing high 80s, low 90s, which, as we've talked about when we were kids, that was. That was your.
Danny G
That was heat, you know that AI, was that AI on there saying that? Yeah, because AI last week did say a metal band open for Nate Bargazzi in Green Bay. We had that with Iowa Sam. But I don't want to say it's.
Iowa Sam
Completely trustable, but be careful with those searches.
Dan Byer
Yes, I believe in. You know, we should do Rich.
Kavino
Yeah.
Dan Byer
We have a bonus podcast called Over Promise. We should get Jesse Cole, the founder of the Savannah Bananas, on the show. He has a crazy story because he put everything into it and he believed.
Kavino
In it from day one. Which if you have seen clips of.
Dan Byer
Him, I would love to see fans first entertainment. We should get him on Over Promised.
Kavino
Not a bad idea, buddy boy.
Dan Byer
All right.
Kavino
But I figured I'd just start with that. Only because as I'm going through our notes for today's show, of course there's plenty of other fun things to get to, but I just thought Savannah Bananas are doing every day, Danny. You see some special thing, like they sold out.
Rich Davis
Oh, they were in the news this past weekend because of that backflip catch.
Kavino
Yeah.
Dan Byer
Insane.
Rich Davis
Yeah, it was awesome.
Dan Byer
It's really great. We're happy for them. They're really doing something cool. A modern day Globetrotters. Even though the Globetrotters still do their thing, they're making baseball fun and exciting for kids. It does open up a new world and possibility for kids.
Kavino
And is it the fun of it if a ball goes in the stands?
Dan Byer
Yeah.
Kavino
If the fan catches it, it's an out. Like, they have taken fun liberties, which I think is great.
Dan Byer
But I have two last points. You brought up the Globetrotters anniversary today. It's kind of odd that Gilligan's island was still on in 81 because that show started what in the late 60s, early 70s. So that was this very special, like.
Kavino
A special one off, like a one.
Dan Byer
Off movie episode thing. And did it ever dawn on us that they were all trapped there on the island, yet the Globetrotters were there and left somehow? Did that ever dawn on us?
Kavino
There was always some like, odd way how the person got off and they didn't.
Dan Byer
Yeah.
Kavino
So still I don't know.
Dan Byer
So but anyway, props to the bananas and maybe we'll get, you know, my.
Kavino
Theory about, you know my theory about the professor. Right.
Dan Byer
I mean, I think that he was the.
Kavino
He was the first closeted gay man on television because Marianne and Ginger, all they talked about how much they love the professor and he was still had no interest. He just want to fix his coconut radio. And he had. His pants and shirt were always so pressed nicely.
Dan Byer
Were Bert Ernie around before that?
Kavino
That's a good point. I don't know.
Dan Byer
We got to figure that out.
Kavino
But I always thought the professor, I'm like, come out, professor, we'll still love you. But yeah.
Dan Byer
And he was extra handsome and very like, put together. Put together.
Kavino
Stranded on an island. And he looked at handsome.
Dan Byer
So that being said, rich, let's get.
Kavino
Into some real basketball.
Dan Byer
Some real basketball again. I hope you had a Celtics sort of night, man. They're playing with some heart.
Rich Davis
Called it. We said hearts of a champion yesterday.
Dan Byer
Hearts of a champion shine through. Kind of cool to see there's still a team to be reckoned with.
Kavino
But, you know, I want to bop you in the nose because I missed my DraftKings pick six because you were like, brunson over, bro. And I was. And I was like, I don't know. I think he's going to have an off night. And you convinced me.
Dan Byer
I'm just saying, big play. Hey, Jimmy Butler didn't step up either. And I said he would, you know, he was nowhere to be found. What do you have? 17 points last night. So we said yesterday and DB sort of backed it up. Big players like that play big and big games. At least you count on them or hope they do. That wasn't the case for everybody, but the Celtics reaped the benefits. Now the Knicks are up three, two.
Kavino
Now game six happens at the Mecca, Madison Square Garden.
Dan Byer
Mecca like a high mecha heiney ho on Saturday.
Kavino
Mecca like a high make a hiney ho Saturday night, Madison Square Garden. Cheapest ticket right now. Eight Honda. Which is understandable. I'm sorry, Friday night. Not Saturday night. Friday night. Tomorrow night Knicks hosting the Celtics.
Dan Byer
The biggest night at The Garden since Gunther Gable Williams and brother Ringling Brothers.
Rich Davis
Since we were hyping it up on Saturday for Saturday's game.
Dan Byer
But since I saw the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus at the garden back in 89.
Kavino
Was it the year they stapled the horn on a horse and said they have a unicorn?
Dan Byer
Since the circus came with the unicorn.
Kavino
Seriously, I actually thought about it. And the Knicks haven't won an NBA title since 1973. So you're looking at 52 years. The Rangers won in 1994 and before that, as you remember, the New York chant used to go 1940.
Dan Byer
Yeah. So no, this is the biggest night at the Garden since the Dice man sold it out.
Kavino
This is the biggest since Billy Joel ended his residency. Like, the Garden's been real. The Garden's been waiting for a game like this.
Dan Byer
You know, what's wild is growing up. You know, we're from New Jersey, New York, but I parked right there by the Garden every day when I was working in Manhattan for 15 plus years. And you see the marquee, world's most famous arena, and you really buy into that. You really believe that. In my opinion, it is right. If you sell out the Garden, you win at the Garden. Like you've done it, you've done something. And it's about time something big happens there in the world of sport. In basketball especially, think about it when.
Kavino
They talk about the world's most famous arena. Damn buyer. Back in the day, that included boxing and when the Knicks and other teams were better. So would you agree that it's been.
Danny G
Decades in terms of the status of the arena? Are we talking about games? Because that was the point that I wanted to bring up with you guys.
Kavino
In terms of arena, always awesome. In terms of games being played there. I think it's been decades since there's a game of this level of significance.
Danny G
I would say it's been a week. I mean, like, like, honestly, like the Game three that they had up to. You guys were talking about the ticket prices for, like how crazy and how difficult it was to get a ticket. The Knicks lost at home to the Pacers last year in a Game seven in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Kavino
That's true.
Danny G
So it's not even a Game seven. What I do think is interesting and why I would buy into what you guys are saying is last year they probably lose to the Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals. This is knocking off the Celtics with a legitimate chance of making it to the NBA.
Kavino
And currently, according to DraftKings and BET MGM and everything. The Oklahoma City Thunder are odds on favorites, I think. Minus 1:40 to win the NBA title. After that, there's a big drop off and it's plus 600 Knicks and T wolves. So right now, Vegas is saying, hey, OKC wins his home. But out of the Eastern Conference, as of this moment, the Knicks have a chance to be that team for the first time since the 90s. For the first time since they lost to the Rockets and the Mag. The Spurs. And when they were, you know, O.J. was doing car chases.
Dan Byer
I thought of two big moments. I already mentioned one, but again, Lynn Sanity at the Garden was wild. That was a hot ticket in New York. Lynn Sanity, two weeks of insanity. And it was an electric moment for anyone in that area. Anyone inside the Garden. Yeah, and we were at one of them. Carmelo Anthony's debut was pretty big.
Kavino
That was big.
Dan Byer
That was big. Because, yo, Carmel, you thought that it was going to be, you know, a franchise changing moment. And we were there and it was electric. So that was a big moment.
Rich Davis
How about 25 years ago when you two, you've told the story before, how you were at the Garden for the Diddy Bad Boy Freak off concert.
Kavino
Stop it, stop it, stop it.
Dan Byer
Yeah, Rich was front row. Yeah, Rich was front row. They called him Oil boy. I remember.
Kavino
Yo, they called you Tootsie Roll Boy.
Iowa Sam
Rich, didn't you have to wear a raincoat in the front row, yo?
Dan Byer
No, that for that and Gallagher, which was really weird.
Kavino
Jeez, guys, man.
Dan Byer
So, yeah, if you're gonna call yourself the world's most famous arena and you really buy into that hype, you got to start delivering and bringing some action and excitement. Aside from concert performances and comedy shows and hockey, I think it's a mix.
Kavino
What about, we just took your daughter to see Frozen on Ice? Was that not a no?
Dan Byer
It doesn't count. Like I said, the circus doesn't count. The Knicks winning game six at home in the Garden.
Rich Davis
Boom.
Dan Byer
Puts it right there again. I love it. I think it's so exciting. And honestly. And Dan Byer said, because we did talk about it last week, man, the Garden's going to be rocking. No, this is it. You get the chance to win at home. You have Timothy Shamalama Ding Dong there. You're going have Spike Lee. You're going to have superstars there cheering, storming the field. They're going to be super pumped about this one.
Danny G
I also think, in a way it's big because they aren't playing with a safety net. And I know that it may seem like a Game 7 is a safety net, but in Game 3, they didn't really have. If they lost the game, guess what? They have another game for, you know, two nights later. This is now you've dropped the two games in. The Celtics are maybe finding momentum without Jason Tatum and going back to Boston. That would be a different. Like there's. There's something on the line for New York to lose, which could make game six tomorrow that much bigger.
Dan Byer
Two more. Two more reasons, Dan. Completely agree. But again, defending champions, you want to knock them off. And they're not just any defending champions. They're the Boston Celtics. The New York Boston rivalry is deep, and that just adds more fuel and more fire, more excitement for game six. So even if you're the most casual fan, there's so much reason to watch.
Kavino
No doubt.
Dan Byer
Whatever we don't get to today is on over Promised. Like, I know we're talking the NFL schedules, right? But we're really going to dive into the best ones on over promised. Episode 92 premieres right after this show on Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. Even talk some boxing, maybe. All right, so join us live.
Kavino
I got to ask. Yeah, we're going to talk about this. Like I said, on Over Promise because it's very visual. And that's our video podcast.
Dan Byer
Yes.
Kavino
I love it. And Kavino can't even fake it. He's like, yeah, the schedule. I think these videos are great. Danny, you were showing me the Raiders one.
Dan Byer
I'm not downplaying the significance of the actual schedule for. For me to get excited about these goofy videos. Yeah, that's not happening. Well, I'm just clear.
Kavino
I'll give you a couple that we're going to highlight on over Promise. Did you see the Titans did schedule Rizzy like a goof off of a drug ad. The Chargers. The Chargers did Minecraft. The Falcons did Mario Kart. I think they're creative. Did you see the Giants did a reality show where they casted people from each city?
Dan Byer
So tuned out, like 30 seconds into these things.
Rich Davis
The Raiders had Penn and Teller looking for the Chiefs of mysterious flags.
Kavino
You know, Portnoy was part of the Patriots one, so I like Bora Phil. I think they're fascinating. So you know what? Today on over Promise, we'll go over the best and worst ones and of course, we'll talk some fights. But right now, Bill Belichick and Jordan sand, they can't seem to stay out of the news.
Dan Byer
Oh, my goodness. I bet you every Belichick five minutes There's a new spin, new story. And I got a preface this by saying alleged, right? Because Pablo Tory must have some weird inside scoop because every story that comes out about them is some Pablo Torrey related. He's got the scoop on what's going on, but then it's not true, right? Like, he came out, he's like, yeah, I heard she's banned from unc. And Bill Belichick's like, she's not banned from usa. Not sure, not happening.
Rich Davis
But did they all react to his report? Because the timeline is a little iffy, right?
Dan Byer
But every day and every minute of the day, there's a new story and there's another rumor out there. That's what I'm saying. Alleged. But based on the rumor, I do have an actual question to the Fox Sports Radio Nation. Let's go over some of the stories that we're hearing, though.
Kavino
After you watch all the scheduler releases. After I watch, I'm going to make you watch all 32 of them.
Dan Byer
Do I have to?
Kavino
Five hours.
Dan Byer
Jordan Hudson competed in Miss Maine. She came in third. And there was a lot of speculation that the media has been unfair to her and that's why she didn't place.
Kavino
Well, she placed third.
Dan Byer
She plays third.
Kavino
But Belichick only accept. He only accepts first place. He yelled at her.
Dan Byer
But then Jordan Hudson recently had to apologize to her cheer teammates for the Bill Belichick Romance hoopla. Like all her friends and all the pageant people and all the cheer people, she's apologizing because it's a big time distraction. Sorry, guys, you know, ridiculous.
Kavino
That sounds. Bill Belichick's girlfriend had to apologize to her cheerleading friends. Like, what?
Dan Byer
Then Bill Belichick went public recently on an interview. She's not gonna be involved with anything to do with UNC because they were questioning her involvement. Then he had to be out there talking about, no, there's no involvement. Then today I saw another report. Now, again, this is. This is social media, so you don't know what to believe. But I am basing a question on this rumor. Red Zone Rush via Pablo Torrey. Reports from the University of North Carolina say things have gotten so messy between Belichick and Jordan Hudson and UNC that there's an absolutely real chance that Belichick is not the Tar Heels head coach by week one. Now, I'm not saying that's true. I want to make that clear. But what I am saying is, based on all these rumors and based on some of the true stories that Bill addressed himself, she's not involved, blah, blah, blah. Right. Do you think there is a slight chance that it could not happen? Here's another reason why I asked that. I saw a clip of Julian Edelman, dude, Julian Edelman, former teammate who learned under the great Bill Belichick, saying that one of Bill Belichick's biggest rules in the clubhouse, in the field house, in the locker room, in the organization, was no distractions. Whatever you got going on, you don't bring it here. So when you got Bill Belichick breaking his own rules, I want you to think, is there a risk of him not making it? Take a listen to Julian Edelman.
Julian Edelman
The number one thing we used to talk about all the time in New England was distractions. Let's not make distractions. The game's already. As hard as it is, regardless of what her role is. Jordan, now that it's gained and snowballed to what it's become right now, where we're talking about it three weeks later, it's becoming a distraction. So that's what. I'm sure that's what we all think right now. This is becoming a distraction.
Dan Byer
We gotta.
Julian Edelman
We gotta practice what we preach here.
Dan Byer
That's Julian Edelman. You think he wants to call out his. Dude, that's from the Herd last week. Julian Edelman talking about Bill Belichick. That's absurd. You got Dave Portnoy, who's the biggest Patriots Belichick cheerleader, saying, I don't know, it's a little awkward. You got Charles Barkley saying, I'm going to reach out to Bill. So when you got all these rumors, and again, not all of them are true, right? But I think Pablo Torre's leaking stuff. He's hearing stuff. Some of it's not true, some of it is. But regardless, it is a distraction.
Kavino
No, Rich, I have some speculation that I've heard no one else say, it only could have been formed in my mondo cabeza.
Dan Byer
I mean, you do have a mondo cabeza.
Kavino
I've heard no one say this. So this is an exclusive on Kavito and Rich and Fox Sports Radio.
Rich Davis
Hang on, let me tweet out the size of your head right now.
Dan Byer
Oh, it's giant.
Kavino
It's like, you know what?
Dan Byer
One size fits most. If you look real close, it says, except for Rich Davis.
Kavino
So first of all, there might come a point which is not worth it. Bill Belichick, in the past, remember, he was going to be the jets coach. That never happened. So it's not. It wouldn't be unprecedented for him. To accept a job and never coach a game. That's number one. I don't want to give away a secret, but I used to know a guy that would try to make dinner reservations at hot restaurants, and know what he would say. Hey, do you have a dinner reservation for, let's say, Howard Stern or Dan Patrick? And the restaurant would be like, oh, absolutely, 6pm Work. Oh, man. Howard Stern or Dan Patrick or Stephen A's coming. And then right before that day, they're like, that reservation's still good, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Just so you know, like, you know, Howard or D.P. they're like, 50, 50 now. They were never going. They just wanted that reservation. What if Bill Belichick's like, I'm going to get my son a herd coaching job?
Dan Byer
Oh, that's a good one.
Kavino
He accepts it, right? And then this all becomes a major distraction. Him hooking up with some hot, young 20 something. And it's like, I just. It's not worth it. At this step of my career, I'm a distraction. Know who's gonna take over my son?
Dan Byer
Well, that's a major conspiracy. But, Rich, the one thing I do believe in, that story.
Kavino
And what did they say in answer to, how do you like that?
Dan Byer
Is anytime something becomes too big of a distraction, right? You see some guy take this noble approach of, you know, I'm forced to step down now because I'm not gonna be that guy. So if that were to happen, I do believe your theory of that's what would happen, but I wouldn't be shocked.
Kavino
Because Phil Belichick doesn't need it. It was more of a, like, you know, the guy still wants to coach. But if it becomes a distraction at this level, maybe the university, which doesn't have a football program that's legendary, would want this. I don't know. But remember what I said. Dan Patrick, Howard Stern. Need a dinner reservation. Dip out last minute. All right, let's go to Dan Patrick. Let's go to Dan Patrick. Let's go to Dan Buyer for an update. What's up, DB Yeah, that has been put out there.
Danny G
It wouldn't like. It doesn't. It's not from Mars by any means, so there's definitely thoughts behind it. Speaking of North Carolina, guys, that's where the PGA Championship is in Charlotte, North Carolina. Quail Hollow, first round play starting to wind down. Cam Davis of Australia is your leader at six under par. One shot better than Ryan Gerard, a North Carolina native. He's at five under, a round of 66.
Dan Byer
It's time for our tire act play of the day. Last night, the Timberwolves took care of business.
Kavino
The horn sounds here at Target center and the Wolves have captured Game 5, 121 to 110. After closing out the Lakers in five games, the Wolves do the exact same to the Golden State Warriors. And for the second straight season, Minnesota is headed to the Western Conference finals. It seemed inevitable the warriors just couldn't overcome Steph's injury. Minnesota advances to the Western Conference finals courtesy of KFAN 100.3 T Wolves Radio Network. And that is our tire act play of the day.
Dan Byer
We got to get in some old school action, but let's wrap up this Bill Belichick conversation and these phone calls. 87799 on Fox. Let's make it snappy. We got Doug in Maryland. Do you think there's a chance of Bill Belichick stepping down? Because he is going against his own principles, which is no distractions. He's the biggest distraction.
Caller
No, I don't think he's going to step down and I don't think he should. Guys, I'm not a. I'm not a Patriots fan. I'm not a North Carolina fan. But I'm going to tell you what. I think everybody's taking this a little too far. And, and trust me. And the very first thing he's going to tell his players is don't allow this. You know, I don't want you guys be watching all of the coverage on this. Don't allow to be. He'll let his players know at North Carolina not to allow it to be a distraction.
Dan Byer
I don't think that sounds fair to the players. I don't.
Kavino
They're getting attention. They never got in this program ever.
Dan Byer
That's true. And you know what? I'll say this, Doug, and thanks for the call, man. Sorry to rush you. Call anytime. We appreciate it. What takes this all away and throws it all out the window, all these Jordan rumors and all this. She's involved. She's not involved. Is winning. Right? But if he doesn't win, it all comes back to that. So more pressure on winning. I don't know.
Kavino
I don't think there's an expectation to win right away. I mean, that program hasn't done anything.
Dan Byer
Anytime they don't, you know, it comes back to what Julian Edelman said right there. He's going against his number one principle, which is no distractions. He's the biggest distraction. So think about it.
Kavino
Would you be shocked if it was a one and done no. That might be the most logical answer. A one and done.
Dan Byer
Not at all.
Kavino
All right. But you know what we gotta do now? It's time for when old school hits 50. Let's go.
Dan Byer
There's a sur.
Kavino
Yeah.
Caller
What we gonna do right here is.
Kavino
Go back.
Dan Byer
Into time.
Rich Davis
Throwing it back for a Thursday.
Kavino
Old school, when 50 hits at 50.
Rich Davis
After C and R, give you the time capsule topic.
Kavino
And we reminisce together.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Dan Byer
So we throw it back every Thursday. We involved B. Dylan, 87799 on Fox. We lost a big superstar this week. Maybe one of the most famous animal actors of all time. Morris the alligator. Who's that?
Kavino
Alligator bit my hand. Oh, my God. The alligator that bit Chubbs Peterson's hand off. People thought he was left off the PGA Tour because he was a black man. No. Damn alligator bit his hand off.
Rich Davis
Damn alligator up.
Kavino
Damn alligator.
Dan Byer
They were all there in heaven right at the end of the movie. But now he's an alligator.
Kavino
Who was in that scene? See if you remember. In the clouds.
Dan Byer
Chubbs Peterson.
Kavino
Yeah.
Dan Byer
It was the crocodile.
Kavino
The alligator.
Dan Byer
The alligator. And it was Obi Wan Kenobi, a former president. Oh, Abe Lincoln.
Kavino
It was Abe Lincoln.
Dan Byer
That's right.
Iowa Sam
Why is he blinking up there?
Kavino
That's right.
Dan Byer
I know someone weird like that. It wasn't Obi Wan Kenobi.
Iowa Sam
And Chubb's got his hand back, by the way.
Dan Byer
Based on that.
Kavino
Look happy.
Dan Byer
What other animal legends do you think of when it comes to film and TV animal superstars? I know Rich's number one answer. He doesn't even know his number one answer. I know Rich's number one answer.
Kavino
Without even. Really?
Dan Byer
Yeah.
Kavino
I feel like our parents generation's all gonna say, like, Mr. Ed. Parents love Mr. Ed. So take Mr. Ed off the board.
Rich Davis
Our parents love. Loved Flipper, too.
Kavino
Dude.
Dan Byer
Our parents love Flipper. Mr. Ed. Hey, you know what? And Lassie. That's the trifecta for your mom.
Kavino
Yeah. So we'll come up with our own list next. Right here. Covino and Rich, hang tight.
Rich Davis
Damn alligator.
Kavino
We're not allowed to name these four because it's our parents. It's the boomer. Mount Rushmore. The boomer animals.
Dan Byer
Mount Rushmore is straight up Mr. Ed and Flipper. You mentioned Lassie and what was the other one?
Rich Davis
And then I said Flipper.
Kavino
Old Yeller.
Iowa Sam
Yeah, Those are the ones I added on Honorable mention. Benji.
Dan Byer
Benji's honorable mention.
Kavino
That is definitely your mom and dad's. Like, if you had this conversation with your mom, dad, aunts and uncles, they'd be like Flipper and Mr. Ed. Don't forget Mr. Ed.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Kavino
Horses.
Dan Byer
A horse. Of course.
Kavino
Of course.
Dan Byer
Someone will sing the song. Every old person would have said those four plus Benji. So we ask you who. Who stands the test of time in your mind as far as animals in movies and entertainment? A la Morris, the alligator, who I didn't know was a real thing or that anyone cared about until he died. But speaking of.
Kavino
Well, Adam Sandler, like, put out a sentimental post like it was his pet.
Dan Byer
Oh, yes.
Kavino
Oh, we got happy Gilmore 2 coming out and he won't be there.
Rich Davis
Rich, we talked about famous animals a couple of years ago on the show. I still remember yours. It was that kicking donkey or mule.
Dan Byer
I wrote it down.
Rich Davis
Yeah. Was it Gus?
Kavino
It was Gus. It was a Disney movie. If you were a kid of the 80s and 90s, do you remember before HBO overtook Sunday nights, they'd have like the Disney movie of the week. It was like Flight of the Navigator. There was a rotation of movies.
Dan Byer
I do. Yeah.
Kavino
And one of them was Gus. It was a field goal. Kicking mule and Don Knotts. Mr. Furley was in the movie, by the way.
Dan Byer
That's a great answer and Danny G. Props to you for remembering that.
Kavino
Danny.
Dan Byer
What a good listening answer.
Kavino
Y' all gonna tell Brenda, you must be a great listener, but I know.
Dan Byer
For fact, after speaking to this dude for a long time, his mom was a huge fan of Air Bud.
Kavino
That's my mom's answer, not mine.
Dan Byer
Yeah, but you.
Kavino
I've never seen them talked about that.
Dan Byer
More than anyone else I've known. Rich talks about Air Bud at least once a week. Still Air Bud. He throws out more Air Bud references than anyone I ever met. So I imagine that has to be one of your answers. I'm gonna throw out one that no one's gonna bring up, but to me, it's amazing. Like this crocodile, this alligator, I should say there's a difference. This alligator lived 80 plus years, which, honestly, I don't think is that long for an alligator. They survived dinosaur times. They're prehistoric. And I'm pretty sure they live longer than that.
Kavino
I recently saw a video of like some old crusty looking shark and they're like, yeah, this shark was alive and they gave some ridiculous stats.
Iowa Sam
Are you talking about the Greenland shark?
Kavino
Yeah. How old? I.
Iowa Sam
They can be like 400 some years old. Yeah, they don't start mating until they're like 150.
Dan Byer
It's crazy, right?
Iowa Sam
Fascinating.
Dan Byer
I shark, Megalodon exists still, but I find it amazing. Always that. Speaking of tortai, would that be the plural? Yeah, tortoises, they live forever, Oasis style. I think it's so cool that Sylvester Stallone. Absolutely. Rocky Balboa. This is Coffin, Link, Cuff and link from the 1976 Academy Award winning Rocky. His two pet turtles that he got from Adrian, I'm assuming, or that pet shop.
Kavino
I mean, he was trying to get with Adrian at the pet shop. Yo.
Dan Byer
This is Cough and Link. My turtles. Absolutely right. They're still alive till this day. They're over 40 something years old. He still has them. And they made a cameo again in the 2018 Creed movie. Creed 2, I believe they're in. So they're still movie stars and I still remember them. And I'm a big. Yeah. Cuff and Link, man. I think that's pretty crazy that Stallone still has those guys. I think that's awesome.
Kavino
You think Stallone, on a side note, you think he watched Nona's being that the great Talia Shire?
Dan Byer
Yeah, he did. Absolutely. Absolutely.
Kavino
I mean, Adrian, they're. They're the remaining stars of that movie.
Dan Byer
That's insane. So other animals in entertainment and I don't know. You want to give a prize? Like the best answer, Danny G. Just for fun? Sure, if you make us laugh with one or something. I don't know. We'll let Sam be the judge. 877-99-FOX. Let's go.
Rich Davis
That's good timing. Just a heads up for our winners over the past month or so. The Swiggy shipment is going to go out next week.
Dan Byer
Yeah.
Rich Davis
So if you win today or tomorrow for summer, you are just in time for the big shipment next week.
Dan Byer
Oh, yeah. Maybe some koozies in there too.
Kavino
If you're a kid of the 80s and 90s. I feel like my siblings would say something like, babe, the pig. They feel like your younger siblings would say that as well.
Dan Byer
Yeah, it was a big one.
Kavino
I'll give you one. I guess I'll give you one that's on my list. I don't know why I love this movie. I thought it was hilarious because I think I'm calling it an animal. Could we agree that you're talking about.
Rich Davis
Your crush on Miss Piggy?
Kavino
She was hot, dude. And she wanted it. Kermit was like. Kermit was reluctant. She was ready at all times.
Dan Byer
She was hot for Piggy.
Kavino
Yeah. Piggy style. Would you say Harry and the Hendersons is a Bigfoot counter? No. Harry? No.
Dan Byer
No.
Kavino
Okay. All right. Well then how about the Abominable Snowman? How about Beethoven. Did you watch that movie? That big ass Charles Grodin dog with Charles Grodin?
Dan Byer
Yes, absolutely. Yeah. Slobbering all over the place, no doubt. All right, so we go to the phones. Who makes this random animal hall of fame that we just invented since you brought up a dog, Rich. I'll get mine out of the way. I'm a huge fan. You know what comes out at the end of this month? Pee Wee Herman as himself. And it's a documentary where he comes out of the closet and he talks about his life. He passed away, unfortunately. But the documentary comes out on HBO Max, by the way. It's HBO Max again this summer, May 28th. But in the movie Pee Wee's Big Adventure, one of my all time favorites, his dog Spec was a superstar.
Kavino
Hey, Spec.
Dan Byer
Spec. So who comes to mind for you? Let's go.
Kavino
Can I give you one more on your mom's Mount Rushmore Boomers?
Dan Byer
There's only four on the Mount Rushmore. I know.
Kavino
I'm gonna reply my replace one because I might throw Rin Tin Tin. I feel like that's such a.
Dan Byer
That's on your grandpappy's Mount Rushmore.
Kavino
Rin Tin Tin.
Dan Byer
Yeah.
Kavino
All right. You want to start with Ohio and say what's up to Josh?
Dan Byer
Yeah. I didn't know Morris the Alligator even got a credit in this movie. I didn't think anyone cared about him. But apparently it's a big story this week.
Kavino
What's up, Josh?
Caller
What's up? Happy Thursday to my favorite fellow 80s babies. Real quick. Didn't Alligator die in the movie? Didn't they chop his head off and give it to Chubbs as a gift?
Kavino
They did. And remember, he was in the clouds as a dead gator at the end of the movie.
Dan Byer
Really Just died this week.
Caller
Yep. So my pick is a three headed rottweiler, Monster Snot from Christmas Vacation, Killer from Half Baked and Rommel from True Romance ran from the mere presence of Christopher Walken.
Dan Byer
They killed Killer B. They killed Killer B. Yeah. Those are good ones. Those are all good ones. Thank you.
Kavino
You got me thinking of another one.
Dan Byer
Go ahead.
Kavino
If you're going to talk about Half Baked the horse Butternuts. Buttercup.
Dan Byer
Oh, yeah. Butternuts the horse ever.
Kavino
Butternuts the horse Buttercups. Butternuts.
Dan Byer
Butternuts had a heart attack. So who else do we got? 87799 on Fox.
Kavino
Texas and Brad. What's up, Brad?
Dan Byer
Hey, Texas.
Caller
What's going on, guys?
Kavino
What's up, buddy?
Caller
Hey, you want to throw back? Let's go to the animals that killed the tourism in Cape cod in the 70s.
Kavino
Jaws.
Dan Byer
That might be the king.
Kavino
Jaws, dude, that was definitely up there. It's gotta be.
Dan Byer
Jaws changed the way we live. That's the true story too. I mean, everyone had a fear of sharks, but not like the way we have now, where we think that we're gonna be eaten by one. Thanks to that movie. That's another classic.
Rich Davis
I have one for you. Just as almost just as scary. Snowflake the dolphin. Yeah. Ace Ventura.
Kavino
Snowflake. I mean, someone stole Snowflake, right?
Dan Byer
Yeah. Yeah. That's a good one. Danny G. There's a lot of him.
Rich Davis
Investigating the very bottom of the tank.
Dan Byer
A lot of. A lot of animals in that movie.
Kavino
Not go in there. Yeah, I got one stupid one.
Iowa Sam
I was just training for seven years and he puts up a five.
Kavino
I feel like no one else is gonna say this, so I'll say it. I. If you know me, Camino makes fun of me all the time. One of my favorite shows when I was a little boy, I loved ALF on the show. Remember, he was always trying to eat Lucky the cat. That was the main storyline. So I'm gonna throw Lucky the cat.
Dan Byer
By the way, that was innuendo.
Kavino
ALF liked to eat. Oh.
Dan Byer
Oh, yeah. Oh. Had to be.
Kavino
You just shattered the glass For a lot of people.
Dan Byer
You just realized that ALF liked it. And you're the dumbest kid ever. I think I might have been.
Kavino
Oh.
Dan Byer
Let'S go back to the phones. Every stupid show had a sprocket or some stupid dog or who's the dog? On Brady Bunch. It was always. You remember Spot?
Danny G
Tiger.
Dan Byer
Yeah. There was always some dog or some stupid animal involved.
Rich Davis
The famous episode where Tiger was hiding all of the family's toys and things inside the dog.
Dan Byer
Tiger. Good call. DB Abraham, the goldfish on Different Strokes.
Kavino
That's a good.
Dan Byer
Arnold Jackson's goldfish. He would talk to it all the time. All right, let's go Back to the phones. 877-99-NOx. And again, chime in at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio.
Kavino
Let's go to Lancaster and Jerry. Jerry, what's up, man?
Dan Byer
What up?
Kavino
What's up, buddy?
Caller
Hey, how you doing? I'm back on iheartradio. Hey, how about a left turn? Clint Eastwood. Orangutan.
Kavino
The orangutan with Clint Eastwood. You might as well throw the monkey from friends on the list.
Dan Byer
I'm sorry, do you mean orangutan?
Kavino
Yeah, that's true. There's no G. That's True.
Dan Byer
Thank you, buddy.
Kavino
You know, I got one that was a dog with a monologue. A dog that would comment. But it was like a funny little side thing all the time on married or children. Remember Buck every so often. Buck the dog.
Dan Byer
Dude, that's a really good one.
Kavino
Like all of a sudden you would show a close up of Buck and it'd be like this stupid family or something.
Dan Byer
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's Funn the dog. Who else we got?
Kavino
David, you're on the show, man. Cavino and Rich. What's up, bud? Hey, what's up, Dave?
Caller
Yeah, I got two. I got one for your boomer list. You got the old horse trigger.
Kavino
You know what, Throw it on. Might as well.
Caller
And then my own personal favorite, you got to go with Spider pig from the Simpsons.
Kavino
Well, if you're going to do that, if you go with Spider Pig, do you also have to go with Santa's Little Helper? I was Sam. Isn't that the like one of the first episodes? Right.
Iowa Sam
It's their dog. I. Spider Pig, I think is. Is that like one episode? But yeah, Santa's Little Helper was there. Their pet greyhound, I believe.
Dan Byer
You know, I'm gonna switch it up a little bit because growing up rich, I'm an 80s kid, right? You remember the cat brand, nine lives. Yeah, we're talking about Morris the alligator. What about Morris the cat that was the big star of all those commercials, right? Morris the cat, nine lives. No, Nobody. I'm the only guy.
Kavino
I guess so.
Dan Byer
I'm the only guy that remembers Morris the cat.
Danny G
I remember. I just didn't think it was good.
Dan Byer
I'm also incorporating, you know, cartoons and commercials here. Not gonna limit it to major motion pictures.
Kavino
I have a question. If you're gonna incorporate cartoons, which it seems like we have been doing.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Kavino
Do you put Brian, Brian. Brian the dog on Family Guy? I mean, he's part of the family, but he is the pet.
Dan Byer
Charlie the tuna. Hello.
Rich Davis
Feel like you guys are extending this segment for an extra hour if you. Animal cartoons.
Dan Byer
Okay. Want to stick to major motion pictures since we're talking Morris the alligator or TV shows.
Rich Davis
This pet didn't even have his own show. But you knew you were watching or just watched a good show when you would hear sit ubu situation.
Dan Byer
Good dog. Hell yeah.
Kavino
By the way, I think every idiot. Well, maybe just me. Am I the lone idiot?
Dan Byer
Lone idiot?
Kavino
No.
Dan Byer
There's a whole slew of Internet idiots that agree with you. I already thought it was Boo Boo.
Kavino
When I was a kid. I always thought it Was sit boo boo. Sit. Good dog.
Dan Byer
Even though it said right there, Ooboo Productions.
Kavino
But I was dumb and I was like nine.
Rich Davis
Like people from Southern California in the 80s and early 90s. It was go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal. And we all thought he was saying pussy cow, pussy cow, pussy cow. Because he had cows and elephants and animals in all his TV commercials.
Dan Byer
What other animals Sit Ubu said?
Kavino
And I always feel like that was in my mind. Family Ties was definitely one of them.
Dan Byer
Good dog.
Rich Davis
Yeah. Quite a few good series had that at the end of it.
Dan Byer
Any of these animals, though, Like, I'm not saying we got to step up the references, but I'm talking. Or we should be thinking, are you.
Kavino
Asking anyone at Academy Award now deserve.
Dan Byer
Like a star in the walk of fame? Like, are there any other, like, really famous ones we're forgetting?
Kavino
I mean, probably the ones of our parents generation, like a Lassie or something. But what about. I mean, a famous TV dog of the 90s and 80s? If you're a fan of Full House, Comet was a big part of the Tanner household, but you don't care about that one.
Dan Byer
Hmm. I'm thinking of some thinking about dog.
Rich Davis
Movies that were just about dogs. Gosh, that Belushi. Remember that movie he was in?
Kavino
Yeah, that is a good spot. Did Screech have a lizard or something?
Danny G
Artie.
Kavino
Artie the Lizard from Screech.
Dan Byer
I love how Rich pretended to not know. Meanwhile, he's the president of the Screech fan club.
Danny G
Funeral for Artie.
Kavino
They did have a funeral for Artie the lizard.
Dan Byer
Yeah. Rich knows his favorite episode. They sing Artie Boy to Danny Boy.
Kavino
Yeah, I totally forgot that.
Dan Byer
So we'll wrap it up with your phone calls. Who are the most famous animals that come to mind in entertainment based on the loss of this alligator, the loss of Morris, by the way, we're not even exaggerating. It did get way more coverage than I thought it would ever get. I didn't know this alligator was still alive, nor did I care.
Kavino
Sandler's got Happy Gilmore 2 coming out. He put out a post about Morris the alligator. And it's. It was. It was on like Google News.
Dan Byer
It wasn't everywhere.
Kavino
It wasn't on.
Dan Byer
I loved Alligator Morris. I'm like, who the hell is that? So it was really everywhere. So we're just trying to have fun with that. All right. But we all saw the movie, so we can't act like we don't know what it is.
Kavino
Of course we know. Let's say hi To Stephen in Mississippi. Hey, Steven, how you doing, man? What's up, buddy?
Caller
I love listening to y' all, man.
Kavino
Thank you, man.
Dan Byer
Thank you.
Caller
All right, so cool. I'm going with it. I'm gonna go with some of the smartest dogs, the Jack Russell. So I'm gonna get a shout out to Eddie from Frazier. And then I heard you all mention Ace Ventura. So you gotta mention the mask. With Milo the dog. One of the best scenes is when he turns into the. Into the mask. Loki on the mask.
Kavino
That's a good one.
Rich Davis
That's really good.
Dan Byer
Thank you, man. Yeah, great call. You know what? I'm gonna bring it back to sports for a minute. It's Fox Sports Radio. Old school in 50 hits. Covino and Rich. How about that famous pigeon that got murdered by Randy Johnson? Remember that one?
Kavino
Had a great three seconds on screen.
Dan Byer
Yeah, it was. I mean, it's still part of his logo as a photographer. Very memorable animal.
Iowa Sam
Can I. Can I put one forward here?
Kavino
Please do.
Iowa Sam
So this is actually a sort of a celebrity animals. Bart the Bear. Bart the Bear was in Homeward Bound 2. 12 Monkeys. Legends will Fall, the Edge. One of my favorite movies. But if you wanted a grizzly bear, a Kodiak, big Kodiak grizzly bear, you'd.
Dan Byer
That was the one.
Iowa Sam
Bart the Bear.
Dan Byer
So he was the bear actor in all these movies? Yes. Wow. Did not know that.
Iowa Sam
Lot of movies.
Dan Byer
How about the horse that Wade Boggs rode around on in 1996 as he held up a finger because he finally became a champion.
Kavino
That's a good one.
Dan Byer
The horse. The police horse at Yankee Stadium. That Wade box. That was a famous horse.
Kavino
You know what? Let's say hi to Gary in Chicago. What's up, Chi Town?
Caller
What's going on?
Kavino
What comes to mind?
Caller
Going off your horse reference. You got the horse from the college movie where they kill the horse in the Dean's office.
Iowa Sam
Animal House.
Kavino
Animal House. Yeah.
Caller
So you got that. But I was thinking you got Howard the Duck.
Kavino
That's quack.
Rich Davis
He wasn't real.
Dan Byer
Power the duck.
Kavino
Yeah.
Dan Byer
I mean, he's famous, though.
Kavino
Trying to think of any other dumb one. So, you know, I was saying, you brought up Homeward Bound 2. My kids finally watch. My wife sat him down. We watch Homeward Bound as a family and shadow Chance. Sassy. Like if I forget that Michael J. Fox was the main voice of that dog. That was a good movie. Good kids movie.
Iowa Sam
Oh, yeah, Loved it. I had it on vhs.
Kavino
When that old ass golden retriever comes over the hill at the end I can't. I can't tell. Waterworks. I can't tell you that I didn't cry.
Iowa Sam
It's pretty touching. Or when he's trying to fight. Fight his way out of the pit, the mud pit.
Kavino
You know, we're forgetting, like, the most famous one. I'm going to save it. Maybe someone will throw it out there. Let's say hi to Kent in North Carolina. Hey, Kent. Kent.
Caller
Hey, fellas.
Kavino
How are you? What's up, buddy boy?
Caller
Hey. Three generations, my dad, myself and my kids. Hercules, Benny the Jet, Rodriguez the Beast.
Kavino
What a great one. And he ties into sports as well.
Dan Byer
Yeah, that's a great one. The whole story. Just getting the ball back. When you were a kid, you really thought that dog was, like a monster or something. And very cool story, very cool movie. And by the way, the Great Hambino made a really funny video this week with. Yeah, yeah, from the movie.
Kavino
I have a question for you.
Dan Byer
Yeah.
Kavino
Were you a kid that went to Hollywood Video or Blockbuster and rented this one with your parents, Turner and Hooch?
Dan Byer
I thought of it. No, I don't remember really watching that much, but I know it's a Tom Hanks classic.
Kavino
Yeah, no doubt.
Iowa Sam
Slobbered everywhere. That was part of it.
Kavino
Yeah. Yeah.
Dan Byer
Broke doors, man. We got a lot of people calling about this.
Kavino
Listen, people love their pets. There was a debate on social media yesterday to tie it in that there was a debate of women saying that if they're dog moms, they want to be called moms, too. And all these, like, you know, real moms are like, no, no, no.
Dan Byer
Yeah, that's her dog mom. And I think it started. That was trending yesterday on Mother's Day weekend. It was the first time that International Dog Day, International Dog Mom Day actually fell on Mother's Day on the same day. So there was a lot of controversy of mothers being like, you know, don't take our day away because you're a doggy mom, I'm a dog mom. Then it turned into this debate.
Kavino
Come on, come on. Don't be silly. Heidi in Florida. What's up, Heidi?
Caller
Hey. Yeah, I'm a cat mom.
Dan Byer
No, you're not.
Kavino
You own adult. You own a cat. I'm a cat mom.
Caller
And I would like to say, wait.
Rich Davis
Heidi, how many do you have? How many cats do you have?
Dan Byer
One? More than three. You're a psycho. I'm a mom to a cat.
Caller
So, Toonces from snl.
Kavino
That's a good one.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Dan Byer
Yeah.
Iowa Sam
This cat can drive, but it's hard.
Kavino
But I do Want to say you're not a mom to me.
Dan Byer
Yeah. Why do you want to shoot her down so hard? Why are you, like, so mean about it? She's a cat mom. Leave her alone.
Kavino
Maybe it bothers me.
Dan Byer
Yeah, why does it bother you? You're not a mom.
Kavino
But you know what women that have children.
Dan Byer
Well, some women can. They, you know, they're. They're moms to their pets. It's not the same.
Kavino
Not even.
Dan Byer
But it doesn't mean you've got to be mean about it.
Kavino
Not even in the same ballpark.
Dan Byer
Well, if you want to take that stance, go ahead.
Kavino
It's not a stance to take. It's just fact. Like, I have children.
Dan Byer
I care about it. I mean, I have children. I'm not going to be mad at somebody if they want to say that.
Iowa Sam
We can all acknowledge it's easier to take care of pets than children.
Dan Byer
Oh, without a doubt. It's not basic.
Kavino
We could also acknowledge a pet lasts a few years, and when it's gone, you'd move on and people replace it. If you lose a kid, you want to jump over a bridge, I'd imagine.
Dan Byer
It'S got to be a lot easier if you could replace it with one that looks exactly like your previous.
Iowa Sam
Coming up next on over promised.
Dan Byer
Exactly right.
Kavino
I'll give you one that no one mentioned. Maybe the most famous dog in movie history. Let's go back to 1939.
Dan Byer
Toto.
Kavino
I'll get you my pretty. That's a great little dog, too.
Dan Byer
That's definitely a granny reference, too, though. That's an Aunt M. An Auntie M reference.
Kavino
Auntie M. And by the way, I'll.
Dan Byer
Get you my pretty. Well, that dog, too.
Kavino
Gotta shout out the flying monkeys. By the way, I think those are.
Iowa Sam
Just little people in costumes, weren't they?
Dan Byer
Didn't you feel bad that Dorothy wasn't a dog mom?
Kavino
You know, Auntie M was so quick to want to just get rid of Toto.
Dan Byer
Like, wow.
Kavino
Like, she was just like, give it to Ms. Glow, you know, Ms. Gale of Gulch.
Dan Byer
Time for the Express Pros Pro of the Week.
Rich Davis
That's my belly.
Dan Byer
And it's kind of an easy one when you really think about it. Talking about the guy that knocked out Steph Curry in the Golden State warriors, the Express Pros Pro of the week is obviously Anthony Edwards, everybody.
Rich Davis
Check out this crazy stat. Edwards now holds the record for the most playoff wins in t Wolves history. Since he joined the team five seasons now, Minnesota has won 18 playoff games, exactly as many as they had in the rest of franchise history, 31 seasons.
Dan Byer
And again, thank you. Congrats to Anthony Edwards, Michael Jordan's son. Anthony Edwards, best pros pro of the week this weekend.
Kavino
You know, we're going to be in for Dan Patrick tomorrow. So enjoy. I believe Dan Byerfield in it tomorrow. I'm imagining.
Dan Byer
Oh, yeah. Let's make this clear. We got Bri hanging out with us. Hopefully you at home, you in the car hanging out with us on your way to work.
Kavino
Iowa. Sander.
Dan Byer
Iowa, Sam. But we're also giving away prizes because we're going to do. Is it Covino or Belichick tomorrow on Dan Patrick's show tomorrow. So join us in the morning in for dp. Any other final thoughts on, like, the inappropriateness of your. The Little League of the Little League kid?
Kavino
I just think, you know, parents.
Dan Byer
By the way, if I was another parent, too, I'd be not offended or concerned. But you have to imagine kids are gonna be like, number 69. What does that mean? Now you little. Little Jimmy here. Everybody, little dirty stories.
Kavino
Little Jackson and Easton are giggling like I'm Jersey 69. Like parents. Use your head. Say no. You're number 12 again.
Dan Byer
If you just joined us, one of Rich's friends kids picked number 60.
Kavino
No, the kid on their team did.
Dan Byer
I know. Just trying to make it easy for people to understand. Doesn't really matter. One of the little nose pickers picked number 69 as their little league jersey and they gave it to them. Yeah.
Kavino
No, it's not how it should be.
Dan Byer
Inappropriate.
Kavino
Nope.
Dan Byer
Inappropriate. I don't care if the kids don't understand, all the adults understand. Why is this kid wearing 69? Out of here?
Kavino
Well, I'm sure we're going to touch on a little bit tomorrow when we fill in for Dan Patrick. But we get ready for a Subway Series.
Dan Byer
Oh, yeah.
Kavino
You may not care, but Kavino and I, I'm a Mets fan, he's a Yankees fan. So. So it's not so much about those teams. I gotta ask.
Dan Byer
It's Soto's return. I think that's the big story here.
Kavino
Is there pressure on a guy like that or is he so above that?
Dan Byer
I think there's also awkwardness involved with Aaron Judge. Here's a guy that had a special handshake with Juan Soto, kissed his ass all year, and now he's got to compete against him after he was stabbed in the back by the guy.
Kavino
Stabbed? Yeah, it's called free agency.
Dan Byer
Get out of my face once. So stabbed in the back.
Kavino
You make it sound Like, I hope.
Dan Byer
He strikes out every at bat. I hope he's booed so loud that it breaks decibel records.
Kavino
It's a Yankee Stadium, right?
Dan Byer
Yes, in the Bronx.
Kavino
You want to bet a coffee that Soto hits a home run over the weekend?
Dan Byer
Sure. For a coffee. I'll do that.
Kavino
Coffee.
Dan Byer
Coffee.
Kavino
There you go.
Dan Byer
And by the way, coffee.
Kavino
It's a New York subway series, so you gotta go coffee.
Dan Byer
My mom and dad hit us up with another family old person reference as far as animals. Yeah, my mom hit me up Petey.
Kavino
From Little Rascal Cheese. Of course she did.
Dan Byer
Petey.
Kavino
Petey.
Dan Byer
Petey's not as cool as Spuds Mackenzie. Mom. He got all the chicks.
Kavino
Danny G. Soto gonna. Soto gonna go yard at Yankee Stadium this weekend. Or is. Or the Yankees gonna shut him down.
Rich Davis
Oh, I think the Yankees will shut him down.
Dan Byer
I hope so, man. He deserves it.
Rich Davis
So they'll probably be trying a little too hard.
Dan Byer
Rich, I think that's for. I think that's fun for everybody. I really do.
Kavino
Yeah, it'll be a fun again. I'm sure some of those games won't be on the local networks. Got one of them. Has to be televised. I'm like Fox or ESPN or somewhere.
Dan Byer
I mean, I hope so. I'm watching regardless. But speaking of watching, please, Fox Sports Radio Nation, everybody watch our bonus pod. It goes live in six minutes. You could watch us on Fox Sports Radio's YouTube channel.
Kavino
You could interact.
Dan Byer
And we're gonna talk about the NFL schedules, who won with all the creative videos, the battle of cringy athletes. And we're gonna talk about boxing some fights on over promised episode 92. We do it next. Perfect.
Kavino
We'll see you guys tomorrow. In for Dan Patrick. Arrivederchi, baby.
Dan Byer
See you in the over promised land later.
Rich Davis
