Covino
What's up, man?
Nate Thompson
Big wit, offensive tackle, NFL host and analyst on Prime. Let's welcome Andrew Whitworth, everybody.
Minnie Driver
How we doing, baby?
Covino
Dude, we're good, man.
Nate Thompson
First off, I know you're a big dude, but in person, you're a house. People need to understand. Six foot seven, beefcake. Pleasure to meet you, man. Hey, Mr. Clean. What's up, buddy?
Minnie Driver
Man, I brought a friend today.
Nate Thompson
Can I tell you?
Minnie Driver
Bring a friend day?
Covino
I totally should have f'd with him because he was like, so Whitworth. He's gonna be playing Mr. Clean in a Super Bowl Adigo.
Minnie Driver
No.
Covino
Oh, I should have said yes.
Minnie Driver
That would have been good.
Nate Thompson
How do we know he's not, though?
Covino
I don't know.
Nate Thompson
We don't know.
Minnie Driver
I like the idea, though.
Nate Thompson
Yeah, right. So, hey, man, thanks for your time. Thanks for being here. Obvious thing out of the way. When we were getting ready this morning, I really was gonna wear the jacket and the hoodie, and I'm like, no, that's his thing. I can't. So you kind of ruined it for everybody. But is there a partnership in the works here or what? You got to have people reaching out to you.
Minnie Driver
Yeah, that's what I keep saying. The biggest thing I've missed out on is I don' Have a hoodie line. You know, I should. I should have my own brand of hoodies. That's for sure. Maybe that may. We'll work on that.
Nate Thompson
You have to. Absolutely.
Minnie Driver
We got to get that done. That's for sure. Amazon, come on. What are we doing? We're wasting time.
Nate Thompson
I like it.
Minnie Driver
You know, listen, it's a good look. I need to get it done. It's been fun. It's. You know, it's something. I always wore hoodies. Being a big guy, I was obviously a much bigger human, even bigger than I am now when I was playing. You know you hate collared shirts. Colored shirts always, like, sat out, like, two buttons. No chance. It just, like, you never know.
Covino
What? There's always the button missing.
Minnie Driver
Listen, I couldn't button any buttons because my neck was so big and my back was so big. So, I mean, you know, I just hated them. And so I got into wearing hoodies and T shirts, like, everywhere I went. So I either wore a jacket and a T shirt or a jacket and a hoodie. And I happened to wear a hoodie and a jacket to our first dinner at Amazon. And they're like, you look good in that. Like, would you want to wear that for the game? Like, with a suit, I was like, yeah.
Nate Thompson
And it's become such a thing.
Minnie Driver
It's a thing. Like, either people hate it or they love it. And it's great. Like, people like, dude, you're a disgrace to the game of football, like, because you have a hoodie on. On tv, which I think is just, like, crazy in asinine. And then there's people who are like, constant DMs, like, please do the brand. I need the brand. Like, I'm getting my husband something for Christmas. Or my wife loves these. I'm gonna get a bunch because she wants me to wear them, you know? So it's just. It's awesome to see how explosive it is. People either just absolutely love it, hate it. And then some people have kind of come around over the years, and they're like, hey, dude, I didn't like it at first, but now I kind of like it.
Covino
You know, it's refreshing because we've talked for years about how the sports world. It's a bunch of dudes drinking and hanging.
Minnie Driver
Oh, yeah.
Covino
But yet, in the broadcasting world of sports suiting up, it's doesn't make sense. Like, all the guys that are watching are wearing T shirts, hoodies, just chilling.
Nate Thompson
Yet it's like, helmets.
Minnie Driver
It's your favorite. Like, when you watch teams travel, right? Like, the reality is, dude, like, when you're like, oh, man, this team doesn't dress up like the guys who. Like, I know old schools. Like, you wear a suit when you travel on the plane, you land on this. But, like, here's the truth. We wear T shirts and shorts and probably aren't even wearing underwear to work on most days with flip flops. Like, we don't work that kind of job. We show up and put pads and play football. So, like, the whole idea of us wearing business suits or any of that is, like, it's just crazy. So it is funny like, that you're almost just playing a character to show up to the game. You don't ever dress like that, ever, ever. But all of a sudden, you put on a suit to go put on your pads and your jersey.
Nate Thompson
Yeah. To talk to some guy with face paint on.
Minnie Driver
Yeah.
Covino
Yo, Andrew Whitworth, hanging with Cavito and Rich. So the transition to the broadcasting world for you, everyone seems to love you, which is great, because I wanted to ask, do you think people and fans are more critical of players or announcers these days?
Minnie Driver
It kind of feels like it's starting to become more about analysts, announcers, like, wilder. Yeah. And so it's interesting. I think for me, it's one of those things that it's been fun to kind of figure it out over the last three years, like, who you kind of feel yourself being and where you want to go with it, because there's so many lanes you could. And I think to me, you look at some guys get in and they want to have a hot take because they just want to get people to splash on, you know, come after them, and they love the attention. And then they don't like that everybody gets mad at them, and then they kind of back off a little bit and kind of change their tune. Or other guys maybe don't say enough, and you're like, man, I'd love you to have something more opinionated. I think they try and find themselves. I think for me, it was like, man, I just want to be, like, really good at being true to who I am. And, like, if whatever's coming out of my mouth is, like, just what I feel. And, like, it's not about a take, it's not about an emo. Like, it's just in my emotion, in that moment when I'm watching this play, this is what I feel like it needs to be better. This is what I think is awesome. I want to give praise to. This is a guy that I feel like is doing it the right way, or this is somebody that feel like, man, they really need to check themselves because I can see the problems are going to come down the road for them if they don't do X, Y and Z. And so I think, to me, it's just, if I can stay authentically me through that whole process, that's what's the most important thing.
Nate Thompson
Yeah, you don't have to question. Right?
Minnie Driver
Yeah. When I get done, like, listen, if people like me or not or they like the hoodie or they like my. Like, that's. That's for them. Like, they're going to decide whether they like me or not. But I think what they'll appreciate is, like, this dude's always him. He never needs to be a character to be himself. Like, he is just him.
Nate Thompson
And that's why people.
Minnie Driver
That's what I try to stay.
Nate Thompson
Andrew Whitworth here with Cavino and Rich. You played most of your years with the Bengals, then you won with the Rams. What was that transition like? What do you think Luka's going through right now? And your boy Cooper cup, who might not be on the team, isn't going to be on the team moving forward. What was that like for you, man.
Minnie Driver
Yeah. It was obviously a massive change in life. I mean, Melissa, I had four kids that were, you know, basically at that time, five and under. So, you know, we were five, five, four, and I think two when we made that move. And so it was a massive move to move across the country and obviously been an amazing blessing and changed. Changed our lives for sure. Not that we didn't enjoy Cincinnati, but just. It was just a wild change in adventure.
Andrew Whitworth
Right.
Minnie Driver
Which adventures usually do. But then I look at, like, other guys have experienced that. You know, you look at Luka right now, I mean, that's a big, massive change as well. Right? I kind of called it out when he went, you know, I tweeted out, like, you know, last time they got 77 in LA, good things happened. Right. I didn't even realize that actually happened for the Kings, too. They got Jeff Carter and one two Stanley Cups. He was number 77 as well. Used to play for Philadelphia. So it's actually happened two times in a row. So now, Luca, trifecta.
Nate Thompson
Let's go, babies. Yeah.
Minnie Driver
Seven. Seven. Let's go Sevens. Let's win another one in la. That would be fantastic. And talking about Coop, man, listen. Unbelievable human. You know, life's been changed just from being around this guy. His impact on our locker room, his impact on the players, the coaches, the. He is a really special human being and incredible knowledge of the game. I mean, any team that gets him, man, they're. I would, if I was a team. Young quarterback, new coordinator, any of that type stuff, man, this is going to be the smartest guy in the room, maybe even smarter than the guy who's calling the plays. And you want that guy to be able to articulate what it looks like. The spacing, the time and the rhythm. Snap in and snap out. What's the vision for how we want to look? Cooper is going to be like having a Sean McVeigh, but as a player on the football field for you, and I think that's something really. I think only for the Rams, it's because they have Puka. It's like, all right, and you've trained Puka, but for another team, man, I would be saying, this is the kind of dude at whatever I got to do to get him in my locker room. For my young receivers and my young quarterback, I'll do it.
Nate Thompson
We talked to Puka about it yesterday. He seemed bummed. On a flip side, when your buddy leaves the team, that's got to be tough, too. And we heard you reached out to him because you Guys are like family. When you went together, it's a deeper bond.
Minnie Driver
Yeah, yeah, definitely. And, you know, obviously it's raw emotion when something like that happens, right? So you're upset. I mean, no matter what, that's not what you want to hear. It's going to happen. Cooper's the kind of guy, like, he's going to respond to that adversity in an amazing way. But, man, you talk about the impact he's had on Puka, and every second they spend together in so many ways that don't have to do with the football field, Puka will be forever changed in his. In his mindset, his mentality, like his daily approach and process to how he chases greatness. Because he got to be around Cooper, So will that entire receiver room and much less that the entire locker room. So, you know, I think that's why, I mean, Coop's going to have a huge impact, but a guy like Puka, you've gotten to see what it looks like. What does that Chase look like? What is the work day in and day out look like? Can you now go be that? I always say that as a player, when you get in the league, it's like you get drafted, you get this opportunity to, like, show who you are and try to make a name for yourself and all right, whoa, this guy's going to move to that next contract. He's a guy who's going to make it to a second contract. But then it becomes, all right, you're great. What's your impact on everybody around you? What's your impact on our offense? What's your impact on our group? Not just about just you. And you have to take those little steps all throughout your career. Pukas is just getting accelerated a little bit with Cooper. Cooper leaving, but he's got to become a leader of that group, and he's built to do it.
Covino
And you were a leader on the Rams. He's one of the guys that even if you're not a Rams fan, when he won, people are happy for you.
Minnie Driver
It was like, man, pretty pretty epic, man.
Covino
Andrew Whitworth feel good story. The transition to broadcasting. People love you there. So you're a comfortable guy in who you are because people like you. But when you get up there and address a stadium and a country after the wildfires, oh, man. First of all, how early do you find out you're doing that? And even a guy like you, did the nerves kick in like, oh, crap, what am I gonna.
Minnie Driver
Yeah, you know, it was wild. We were actually doing Thursday night Amazon on Prime. We had our first NFL playoff game, so we're doing Steelers, Ravens, and, you know, in. In Baltimore. And so I'm, you know, I'm going to that game, and I get a text on, like, I think it was Friday or something, and, like, hey, the league's got a. Like, a cool opportunity. They think, like, it would be awesome if, since the game's getting moved, you know, for you to maybe address our fans and blah, blah, blah. And, like, I'm thinking in my mind, this is like, oh, okay, like, sometime way before the game starts, like, just fans that are there, I'm gonna get. You know, and then as I'm realizing, like, oh, no, no, no. This is like, right before the game kicks off.
Covino
Yeah.
Minnie Driver
So it's like, you kind of got to get nerds, and I get to get there to the game, and I realize that they've got this Beyonce stage I'm going to stand on, as I called it, because it's like this elevated stage. And then, like, it's espn, and they give me my headset, and they're like, oh, Joe Buck's going to say, you're down there. And then there's this guy who's going to say, go. And I'm like, oh, my gosh. Like, this is live Monday Night Football playoff game. It's go time. So I will say that is probably the most nervous I've been for, like, something, because that was. You have 40 seconds. Yeah, we're gonna say go. The national anthem starting in 40 seconds. Get it out, whatever it is.
Nate Thompson
Heart pounding out of your chest, nervous.
Minnie Driver
Oh, yeah, because it's like, you got 40 seconds. He's gonna say, go. The national anthem starts. You don't have a clock anywhere, so you're hoping what you just said is 40 seconds. That it was real. Like, I was a little, like, afterwards, like, all right, that was intense.
Covino
Were your kids like, dad? That was cool. Did you, like, your kids now sort of understand more of what dad does?
Minnie Driver
It was honestly awesome. Not just for my family, just people really, across. Across the country, across sports, just in general, that were watching that game and kind of felt that emotion and probably had some feeling they were feeling about everything that had been going on anyways that reached out just with love and stuff from that. It was a really cool. Like, you try to pull your. Pull your passion and all out and give it to people and tell them how much you care about them. But then to also get it back from people was a really neat moment.
Nate Thompson
Andrew Whitworth, as an Analyst. And by the way, you're doing a great job. I have one last question because it's probably going to be the topic of discussion. If Mahomes wins four and six years, is that better than seven in 23 years? Is he the go? Is it's going to be an ongoing.
Covino
Got to hit the conversation. But you know, if it takes over LeBron, MJ, then it's not that.
Minnie Driver
Right. I do agree with that. I would rather not discuss any of them. But, man, here's what I keep, you know, I keep saying I do think he is Michael Jordan. I will say that now, whether people think that Michael Jordan's the go to basketball or not to go to basketball, blah, blah, blah, I just think that's who he is in our game. When you look at all the great players that he's blocking from their opportunity, when you look at Josh Allen, you look at Lamar Jackson like, yeah. And you think of Jordan in those eras and all the people like would have had a championship if they just didn't have to face him for Barkley. And I do think that, but I think it's hard to argue that the winningness because I think that that probably says that you have to stay with Tom because of all the, you know, all the trophies. But the best, you know, I don't know. I, you know, it's having this coach the other night with that NFL head coach and was like, hey, I don't know, he might be the best though. The three, he might be the best that's ever played.
Nate Thompson
That's wild.
Minnie Driver
He might not be the winningest, but he is probably the best now.
Nate Thompson
Never going to stop.
Covino
You're here with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. And by the way, I'm taking these home because these are the best thing to clean your sneakers. Just about to say these are the.
Minnie Driver
Wear a lot of white sneakers on the road with our show. So I, I, I have to have, you know, magic say not only for.
Covino
Like cleaning around the house. I'm always like, I always tell my wife, I'm like, put one aside for.
Minnie Driver
My sneakers are he's got on right now.
Nate Thompson
Oh, yeah.
Covino
See and people don't realize the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers best thing to use for the little smudges on your white sneakers.
Minnie Driver
Oh, there's no doubt by far. And when you got four kids and three dogs, I, I got a lot of things magic erasers are good for.
Andrew Whitworth
Oh, yeah, they're great.
Covino
Little smudges on the wall too.
Minnie Driver
Oh, buddy.
Covino
Yeah.
Minnie Driver
Bouncing on the wall.
Covino
I get hair Dye.
Nate Thompson
How do you think my hair's jet black like this Hair dye splashing on the cleaning. Off with the magic eraser, man. Thank you, guys.
Covino
Yeah. Before you go, Andrew Whitworth here with Kavin on Rich. A couple weeks ago, Saquon said that touchdown in the snow was his best moment ever. Was your one touchdown a memory you'll never forget because you have one touchdown?
Minnie Driver
I do.
Andrew Whitworth
One for.
Minnie Driver
Hey, listen. One for, one for, one yard, one touchdown. Okay. One route, one catch, one yard, one touchdown. On my birthday.
Nate Thompson
Yeah, really?
Minnie Driver
My birthday. 1212, 2010 in Pittsburgh, opening drive of the game. Fun fact. I actually think that we need to get the NFL history on this. I need, I need to get the league to do this. I, I was the only offensive touchdown scored in that game. So Steelers had two pick sixes, I think, and beat us in a low scoring game, but I was the only offset. So I would love to know how many games an offensive lineman has been the only offensive touchdown in the game on their birthday. On their birthday. Definitely hold the record for that. Definitely. I'm just looking for a record.
Covino
Thank you. Continued success.
Nate Thompson
Yeah.
Covino
Love watching you now.
Nate Thompson
Appreciate you, man.
Covino
We got more Kavito on Rich Next.
Nate Thompson
Thank you, Mr. Clean. Now I'm Covino. That is Rich, Danny G. Super producing. And I do want to thank Andrew Whitworth again for stopping by. Super cool. We got Bijan Robinson later on in this show.
Covino
I'm excited about that.
Nate Thompson
And after the show on over promised, our bonus pod live from radio row here in New Orleans, Gary Vaynerchuk. Gary will be on over promised. That's on fox Sports Radio's YouTube page.
Covino
All right, now again, Bijan Robinson coming up, Gary Vee on the way. But Kavino, there's one more layer to today's story we never got to. Before we get to more NFL, there was a story where we're meeting all these people. Radio Row lunches, dinners, convention center. There's one of the clients for Fox Sports Radio that went up to our buddy Weiss, who works in the promotional marketing team. He's the guy that's responsible, putting together the set, all the great events. He's a great dude. They went up to him and thought he was Mike Harmon. And they were like, I love your show.
Nate Thompson
Mike Harmon, one of the hosts here on Fox Sports Radio, Jason Smith with Mike Harmon, Jason Smith's best friend.
Covino
And we were all, we were all dying laughing because we're like, he thinks you're, you're Mike Harmon. That's not the funny part of the story as we're laughing about all this, we're with our boss, Don. Don Martin, the big guy that runs Fox Sports Radio iheart.
Nate Thompson
Yeah.
Covino
Some older woman infiltrates our circle, and she's like, excuse me.
Nate Thompson
Yeah, she, like, she separates us.
Minnie Driver
She parted the sea.
Nate Thompson
Yeah, she did.
Covino
I'm so sorry. Pardon me. Could I get a picture? And our boss Don's like, oh, with Covino and Rich. And she's like, no, no, no.
Minnie Driver
I don't.
Covino
I don't know them with you. And he's like, with me, he's like, I don't know.
Nate Thompson
He's like, who do you think I am? Now, keep in mind, we're all surrounding him because he's a super charismatic guy, and he's our boss, and he's a tall guy. Super tall. And he, you know, he looks important. And he goes, who do you think I am?
Covino
Wait, you're not Dan Marino?
Nate Thompson
She thought he was Dan Marino. You know, again, a Super bowl week. He's got that look about him.
Covino
He does.
Minnie Driver
And so I said, he has a perm.
Nate Thompson
No, he has quarterback face.
Covino
My question to you, has anyone ever mistaken you for a celebrity? And my super bowl tip is I always say this. If you're over six two and you're a black man, go to the Super Bowl. You could tell any woman you play for the NFL and they will believe you, and you can get some random booty.
Nate Thompson
There you go. Yeah, lessons learned reap the benefits.
Covino
But hey, if you want to join down on that conversation, 87799 on Fox. Plus, Bijan Robinson is next live. Super Bowl New Orleans coming on rich. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports.

The Ring magazine has learned that the anticipated fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford has been called off. Thoughts? I think that's weak as hell.
Covino
That's my thoughts right off. But also in conjunction with Canelo Jake Paul being on.
Nate Thompson
Well, Ariel Helwani, our good pal, and Ring magazine also are saying that Jake Paul versus Canelo Alvarez is definitely being discussed and has been for some time. However, reports are that it's a done deal.
Covino
That's premature at this time.
Nate Thompson
Is still developing.
Covino
That's wild.
Nate Thompson
So it's actually really interesting to see that a legitimate fight is off, but a fight with Jake Paul is on. It goes to show you the culture.
Covino
We'Re in that as well. You know, I would love the opinion of the dude to the right of me.
Nate Thompson
Well, let's give him a proper intro here. Number seven, running back for the Atlanta Falcons, Bijan Robinson, everybody.
Covino
Yo, we, we just learned that. I don't know if you follow the fight game at all. Canelo Alvarez, Terence Crawford, they're saying that fight's off. And the Canelo Jake Paul things looks more Likely, Yeah. That's the bell influencer. Boxing taken over. What's your thoughts?
Andrew Whitworth
I. I think Canelo is dominant.
Covino
Yeah.
Andrew Whitworth
You know, I get it. Jake Paul's really, you know, really good at fighting and, you know, he's, he's done a good job. But fighting Canelo.
Nate Thompson
That's right.
Covino
There are people that say that might be like a one round deal.
Andrew Whitworth
That, that doesn't look too sweet to me.
Covino
It is prize fighting.
Nate Thompson
I think Canelo is just saying, hey, if you want to give me your 30, 40 million dollars of easy money, I'll take it and then I'll fight.
Andrew Whitworth
Crawford whenever, you know, so I would definitely do that.
Nate Thompson
Hey, thanks for being here. I love the Nirvana T shirt. I love it. And he, he's showing a lot of man thigh here, man. I mean, I know you got to show him off, right?
Covino
Is it Bichon Robinson or.
Nate Thompson
You look great. Thank you for stopping by. Hey, first time meeting you, man. Gotta ask you.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Nate Thompson
What inspired you to play football? And at what point did you realize I'm really good at this?
Covino
Yeah. What age?
Nate Thompson
Yeah. Were you a little kid?
Andrew Whitworth
I just know, like, you know, God definitely blessed me to play the sport. You know, I obviously play for him, so it's, it's been amazing. But it was really when I was like 4 years old, 4 or 5 years old, playing flag football and just, I mean, I ran backwards the first carry, so that was, that was cool.
Nate Thompson
But after that, taunting the people chasing you?
Andrew Whitworth
No, I like, literally. He went the wrong way. No, yeah, yeah, I like, I just. Right backwards.
Nate Thompson
I thought you were so fast that.
Covino
You running backwards four or five years old. My. My son starts T ball next week, so now I'm gonna be assessing every move he makes.
Andrew Whitworth
Sure, just make sure. Because my mom was like, like, what is he doing? Like, this is. Might not be the sport, but yeah, man, it's been, it's been something that I just love to do.
Covino
That's so cool, Bijan. First two years in the league, over 2400 yards rushing. And I think this year between you Saquon, you know, Derek Henry, the running back is back.
Andrew Whitworth
No doubt.
Covino
I'm sorry, people are roughing around the headphones. Was that, was that something that you took as a compliment when Saquon, did you hear put you in his top three.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah, I mean that was, that was great, man. Like, that was awesome. Him obviously, you know, he's been the guy leading the charge this year and it's been fun to see and you know, there's a lot of Guys, you know, that are right behind him that, you know, has been elevating this position this whole season. And for me, like, I mean, you have what, four guys that were 100 and some yards away just from 2,000.
Covino
It's amazing.
Andrew Whitworth
All purpose, like or two of us. So it was, it was definitely a cool thing seeing all the guys just, just be great for their teams and great for the NFL and being, you know, trying to be the most offensive or most impactful offensive players in the league.
Nate Thompson
Now when he's speaking so highly of you.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Nate Thompson
You know, there is a brotherhood. You guys play the same position.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Nate Thompson
Does that mean you're rooting for him this weekend?
Andrew Whitworth
Absolutely.
Nate Thompson
Or him in particular. Or the Eagles?
Andrew Whitworth
I mean, definitely the Eagles, but like, I really want him to do, do really well. I think that'll be really cool. Just like finish the season off the right way for running backs and to, you know, show everybody just the ability that what you can do for, for an offense. And obviously his offensive line is, is incredible, but, you know, just showing the gifts that he's been given on, on the biggest stage, it'll be pretty cool.
Nate Thompson
Who are some of your role models on your come up when you were a little kid, like, who influenced your style as a player?
Andrew Whitworth
So definitely like Ladanian Thomason lt, He's been the guy that I used to watch a lot. And then obviously like Reggie Bush at usc. I've, I still have his tapes because my grandpa, he was a PAC 10 official, so he would have all the games that he had when he did USC. So that was great. And then like LaShawn McCoy is one of them. Like, he's, he's a guy that I used to love to watch around the football. And then Adrian Peterson, like, those are the four guys that I was always like watching in, trying to study and trying to make moves off of them and it was pretty cool.
Nate Thompson
Do they reach out to you though, and tell you, man, hey, we're proud of you. This is incredible?
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah, absolutely. I talked to every single one of them and I mean they, they've been just great mentors for me and just all always been shouting me out and it's been, it's been pretty cool.
Nate Thompson
I love that, man.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Covino
Yeah. Bijon, I gotta say, you look cool in that uniform. I always feel like the Falcons uniform.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Covino
Pretty badass, right? With the little red highlights.
Andrew Whitworth
Pretty cool. It's pretty cool.
Nate Thompson
Pretty cool.
Covino
So an 8 and 9 team, not, not the way you wanted to finish the season.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Covino
But a lot of times people say 8 and 9, that's like football purgatory, because you're sort of stuck right there.
Andrew Whitworth
Like playoff in the middle.
Covino
But I feel like you guys are just like a move or so away and you're. And I'm not saying your division's not tough, but I thought you guys had it this year. Do you look forward to next year and say, all right, dude, guys, we're like, a couple moves or adjustments away from really getting to that next level. Is that your mindset?
Andrew Whitworth
Most definitely. And for us, like, you know, when we do make those moves and whatever we do, I know they're going to do in the right. In the right manner. They're going to do the right thing. They're going to pick the right people for this program because, I mean, and honestly, like, you know, we don't want to look too much ahead, but, you know, I know that we play, you know, one day and one game at a time, but we're trying to, you know, be the best team, not just in the. In the south, but like in the NFL, hopefully, and try to have, you know, the kind of talent that can take us to that kind of level, which I believe we. We're about to do. And we're, you know, gaining to have this offseason. So, you know, it's been. It's been fun to. To see other teams, you know, in the playoffs. It's definitely stunk. Like, it's definitely hurt, too, but hopefully we can. We can do some big things for that next year.
Covino
Yeah. Bijan, we saw our buddy Pook in the coup of the other day, and he was saying how he said a bum to say goodbye to Cooper Cup. They're boys and, you know, some of these deals, I'm guessing players find out when we find out.
Andrew Whitworth
They do.
Covino
Like you're seeing stuff like, Kirk Cousins might get released and Penix might be officially your guy.
Andrew Whitworth
I know.
Covino
Are you gonna find out when we find out?
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's. That's exactly like when.
Covino
What happens to the group chat after that?
Andrew Whitworth
No, I mean, what Mike got. Got a name, the starter. Like, we all find out. Found out on the Internet. It's like on. On social media. Like, that's how we found out. So it was. It's like little things like that that, I mean, obviously you can't control, but it's you. You find out when everybody else does.
Nate Thompson
So what goes through your mind when you hear that the Falcons are expected to cut Kirk Cousins? Do you want to reach out or you just Play it back. Or you just wait to see what happens.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah, you just kind of just have to see what happens because I mean obviously people could say like we're gonna do this, this and this, this on social media, but it might be false. Like, and as much as you want to reach out, you don't want to reach out cuz you don't want to be that guy. Exactly.
Nate Thompson
And it's out of your control. Right?
Covino
Yeah.
Andrew Whitworth
So like honestly, you just kind of just play the play, play, play the car, see what, see what's true and, and just kind of wait and see.
Nate Thompson
All right.
Covino
Other group chats, by the way, among teammates, you guys. Does the group chat?
Andrew Whitworth
Not really. Not really group chats. Yeah, we, we kind of stay away from like outside source things in the group chat because we just, just don't want to stare up anything or cause anything.
Nate Thompson
What's your relationship with Penx Jr?
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah, I mean it's, it's a great relationship. Great relationship. That's my dude, man.
Nate Thompson
He's already your dude.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah, absolutely.
Nate Thompson
So if he is the guy, you don't have to work on the relationship. You guys are cool already.
Andrew Whitworth
Not at all.
Nate Thompson
That's awesome.
Andrew Whitworth
Like that's. And, and that's the kind of guys that they bring in too. Like they don't want to bring in guys that are, are standoffish or like that don't talk to the teammates or that, that don't really jail. Like he immediately jailed as soon as he got in and it was pretty.
Covino
Cool when, when you see, you know, guys like you, Saquon, Derrick Henry having these monster years.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Covino
People keep saying like, well, the Chiefs could just game plan against Saquon. Can you really game plan to, to stop a guy at that level? Like, I mean, have other, other teams tried this?
Andrew Whitworth
I think every, I think every team probably tried it. It's, it's really hard, man. Because the thing that's hard about it is you got a quarterback that can run and, and he's taking the defender away from the play. So the, the, the blocks happen a lot more cleaner and you can see a lot more, a lot more holes in the defense when, when that happens. And then you have two of like some of the best receivers in the NFL on the outside. And then you have a tight end that's one of the best tight ends. So you have so many threats around you. That helps him out a lot. But yeah, you can't really, you can't really game plan against it. All you can do is try hard to stop it.
Minnie Driver
It.
Andrew Whitworth
But any one of those runs that he has can break for. For a long one.
Covino
I gotta ask Dijon Robinson. Hanging with Kavino and Rich.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Covino
All right. Regular dude like Kavino and myself.
Nate Thompson
Regular dude like, like Rich.
Covino
I always love to put myself in the scenario of an athlete. You're way bigger, stronger.
Andrew Whitworth
No, not yet.
Covino
Yeah, you know, you got age on me and everything. Could a regular guy 10 carries in the NFL with a good O line mind gain 1 yard? Would he get copy? Yeah, you think so?
Nate Thompson
Wow.
Andrew Whitworth
Yes, absolutely. Five yards now. Five yards.
Covino
Because you've seen those. Like, what's the hardest thing to gain a yard? Hit a three pointer in the NBA. Like, yeah, get a baseball off approach.
Andrew Whitworth
You said what you said. With a good old line. With a good old line, you can gain 1 yard.
Nate Thompson
Leave it at that. Yeah. Hey, I'm happy with one yard.
Andrew Whitworth
Five yards is hard because he has to. He has to try to outrun a linebacker coming at him, him and that kid. But one yard, you can literally get the ball and dive.
Covino
Is there nothing more frustrating? And this happens to every elite running back like you. You got that seam, the breakaway, and a guy just get your.
Andrew Whitworth
Oh, that's the worst.
Covino
Because I always see the running guy pop up and slam down the football. Is that the worst?
Andrew Whitworth
That's the worst feeling ever. Like, and then it's. You didn't just get caught, but then your whole team's gonna start like, oh, you got caught. You can't. You can't outrun the player. Like, they're gonna start making fun of you. Like, yeah. And then all you could do is be like, damn, bro. Like, you can't say nothing to it because that's what happened.
Nate Thompson
You know, we've been talking about a lot this week is how defenders now are just punching at the ball. They're just throwing left hooks, right hooks.
Andrew Whitworth
And I love it.
Nate Thompson
It's.
Covino
It's.
Nate Thompson
They're on target all the time. Are you feeling that when you're covering the ball? I mean, because you're really just getting punched.
Covino
Your fumbles are down this year, so you're.
Andrew Whitworth
I didn't have a fumble right this year. Like, the only one was when the ball went.
Nate Thompson
You didn't have any fumble, but you caught a few right hooks to the ribs. Yeah, yeah.
Andrew Whitworth
But. But the cool thing is like. Like now that guys are starting to, like, try to punch at the ball, they're not tackling. So.
Nate Thompson
So you like that better?
Andrew Whitworth
Oh, absolutely. Because then you're not tackling and then you're breaking tackles, and I mean, obviously, we're taught to, like, you know, high and to, like, squeeze the ball and everything like that. So, man, it's. It's cool for me, hey, as a.
Nate Thompson
Superstar in your position, you're a young guy, you're in the NFL, you're making big money, you're scoring touchdowns. As a player, you got to keep yourself hyped up all the time, right? You got to be that guy. So you got to get in your own head like, I'm the man. I got to be the man.
Andrew Whitworth
Of course.
Nate Thompson
So when you're doing all that and you're living this cool lifestyle, how do you stay grounded?
Andrew Whitworth
Man, in my faith. That's the one. Like, you know, I'm always. I'm always in my devotionals. I'm always, you know, in the Bible. I'm always just, you know, reading Bible studies, like, because I feel like that's what's taking me to the. To new heights in my life and to other levels in my life. Life. Because I know that I can rely on what God has for me. And. And, you know, it always keeps me humble. You know, I'm never, never cocky. Like, I'm never that guy that's so great.
Nate Thompson
But you. Sometimes you have. On the field, you have to be.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah, yeah.
Covino
On the field, like two sides of you.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Covino
A beast on the field.
Nate Thompson
Right.
Covino
Spiritual.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Nate Thompson
And it brings you right back.
Andrew Whitworth
It does.
Nate Thompson
That's so cool, man.
Andrew Whitworth
That's what. That's what helps me out a lot.
Covino
And you're doing a lot of great work. I see. Big brothers, big sisters. Tell us about it.
Andrew Whitworth
Absolutely. So with this. With this campaign. It's the big draft campaign, and, you know, we. We want 10,000 mentors for 30. 30,000 kids. We want to draft 10,000 mentors, which is really cool, and I think it's just cool to. To have those kind of mentors. Like, for me, obviously, you guys have mentors, and, you know, I've always had mine throughout my life and. And my coaches and my. My dad, everybody, man. Like my mom. So, I mean, for. For these kids that don't have one, you know, we need to start now to. To help these kids out because. Because it's only going to help us in the world and help us grow as people. But, I mean, it's. It's definitely been a great opportunity to be with them and to represent them, you know, throughout my time, my journey here.
Nate Thompson
Bijan Robinson. Big brothers and big sisters. You know, so many people in your business. I gotta ask you this, because you seem like such a cool dude. So many people in your business retire so early, so. Yeah, you know, they're older guys on the field, but young men in life, no doubt. What do you think about after football?
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah, so I see you.
Nate Thompson
I could see you doing this.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah, I do a lot of. I do a lot of different things. Like, I dj. I've been doing the dj, this DJ series in the NFL. So that's been pretty cool. And then acting has been a thing that I've been, you know, dibbling in, like, you know, trying to get on these shows and. And have fun doing it. Like, little cameos here and there. So, I mean, and then I have, like, this Bijan Musterson business that's, you know, that I. That I have so, like, just three different things that I want to continue to grow and elevate, so. Because I always know it's important to. To have all this stuff after football and to do. I mean, what you guys are doing is. Is what I want to do as well. So, like, it's been pretty cool, man.
Covino
That's cool, man.
Nate Thompson
I love it, man.
Covino
Vision. I gotta ask you. So, Sunday, big game. Everyone's watching.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Covino
We've talked about yappy people at the super bowl party.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Covino
Do you want everyone to shut the heck up, or do you. Are you okay with everyone Yap, yap, yap happen during the game, commercials, halftime. Do you have the mindset of, like, listen, if you come into my house. Yeah, pay attention.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah, no, pay attention. Like, obviously, you can. You can cheer when. When it. When the time is needed, but, you know, when. When there's, like, a first and, you know, 15, like, and they get two yards. I don't need y'all, like, you know, talking.
Nate Thompson
Exactly.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Minnie Driver
Like.
Andrew Whitworth
But I mean, obviously, like, you have a lot of that, but, you know, I'm not. I'm not like a. Yo. I'm a yell at you because. Because of it. But just, you know, just kind of lock in, you know.
Covino
Hey, a pleasure.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah, man.
Covino
Continued success.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah, no, thank you, man.
Covino
Another guy, you know, that it's going to be terribly hard not to root for.
Nate Thompson
Exactly.
Covino
Even if he plays your team.
Andrew Whitworth
Oh, yeah. Yes, sir.
Covino
So if you play. When you play the 49ers, you go for 150. But I still got to root for the night.
Andrew Whitworth
It's all good. There you go. It's all good. Pleasure, man.
Covino
Robinson with Camino.

Let me hit you with this DraftKings sportsbook.
Nate Thompson
Yes.
Covino
Not the super bowl prop.
Andrew Whitworth
Uh oh.
Covino
Give me your instinct. Without thinking about it. Patrick mahomes passing yards, 250 and a half. Don't think about it. Just give me your instinct.
Nate Thompson
Under.
Covino
Under Danny two fifty and a half.
Minnie Driver
Oh, over.
Nate Thompson
Oh, really? I don't know what to tell you. You know, a lot of this game, believe it or not, I think has to do with does Kelsey play like Kelsey should? You know, he has to be that guy again. He has to step up and just sort of take over and be the man. I think that's really what it comes down to.
Covino
Do you know why I picked the under on the Saquon one ten and a half?
Nate Thompson
Why?
Covino
Because Danny saw Chris Jones at cbs.
Nate Thompson
Oh, yeah, I know.
Covino
I think Danny motivated him. I heard.
Nate Thompson
I heard Danny give him a pep talk.
Covino
Yeah, you're gonna. Everywhere Saquon is. You are right, Chris. And he's like, yeah, let me get my toothpaste. And then, you know, that was.
Minnie Driver
I told him, I say, you know, you represent the AFC West. And I showed him my raider tattoo and then he socked me.
Covino
So let me ask you this before we get into. I know you had a thought about Kirk Cousins as we get closer to Super Bowl 59. You know, people hyped up about Kendrick Lamar. They not like us. The most decorated song in Grammy history. Every award it possibly could win at 1 in the rap category. In the main categories.
Nate Thompson
Drake loves that.
Covino
Drake is crying.
Andrew Whitworth
You know what?
Covino
It's like I said to you remember the movie? Was it Euro Trip? Yeah. Scotty doesn't know. Remember the. The fake rock song in the beginning.
Nate Thompson
Yeah. With Matt Damon.
Covino
Scotty doesn't know. That would be like if that song won rock song of the year. And Scotty, is Drake the biggest diss track of all time? And the question, though, now wins awards. Will the NFL allow the line about pedophile to stick? Because they're saying, will Kendrick change it? Will they beep it? Will they let it fly? Could lawsuits happen? Like that's since it's a diss track, you know, not all the lyrics are kind. So do you think they'll let that fly? Or if you're the NFL, do you say, hey, dude, if you don't change, we gotta beep it?
Nate Thompson
NFL's known for playing it safe. So I think the NFL and you know, millions of families watching will play it safe. In this case, if they have to beep it, they'll be on standby to beep it.
Minnie Driver
Yeah. And also remember, rap artists do a lot of shows where they have to do their radio versions of the song. So he's well versed at being careful with his lyrics.
Covino
No doubt. Now, Covino, a lot of NBA trades, but there's a guy that's probably done in Atlanta and it's not Bijan Robinson. We just saw him. He's got a bright future. Kirk Cousins.
Nate Thompson
Yeah, we talked to B. John Robinson about it. He just waiting on his group chat to see what happens. And you know, he finds out when we find out on social media. But it looks like they're cutting ties with Cousins and investing in Penix Jr. Moving forward.
Covino
You know what it reminds you of the NFL draft when the sentiment was like, why on earth would they take Penix Jr. When they just gave Kirk Cousins all that money? And a lot of people are like, you know why? Because it's the NFL. You never know. Cousins was coming back from injury, he's getting older. And you know, the sentiment was, well, even if Cousin plays a couple years, you'll have Penix Jr there. Talk about grand opening, grand closing, like that didn't even last more than a season. And now we're looking at all right in year two. Here's the keys to the car. Michael Penix Jr. And if cousins is.
Nate Thompson
Released, I don't think he likes that.
Covino
How much money will Kirk Cousins have made in that contract? That contract was for how long? That was a big ass contract.
Nate Thompson
So Danny G. Did the math. While you look that up, Danny G. I'll read the stats you put up before. In his 13 year career with NFL contracts alone, yeah, Kirk Cousins has made $294 million. That's just on NFL contracts.
Covino
That's like Powerball Stuff, yeah, That's insane.
Nate Thompson
That's in the lottery, dude.
Covino
It's like he, like he won the Powerball.
Nate Thompson
That's the sixth highest though, in active players. So that's no chump change, man.
Covino
That's a lot of flow and that. And by the way, let's remember where his career started, where he couldn't even really find a place. You know, it was like Washington, then Minnesota, then, you know, he's bounced around.
Minnie Driver
Yeah, people thought he was just like a really, really good backup.
Covino
And take a Look now, dude, four years, 180, including $50 million as a signing bonus and 100 million of that guarantee. So for a guy that played most of the year but way underperformed, is that the easiest money you think a pro athlete has ever made? Is there someone else that comes to mind? Like they signed a big deal and they were hurt like so far. I mean, I know it's an injury, but Brandon Iuk signed that big deal with the Niners, got hurt like a game into it.
Nate Thompson
Remember you saw there's a lot of examples like that of like Jacoby Ellsbury that signed with the Yankees. Never played ever.
Minnie Driver
Dude, tease me now about Jamarcus Russell.
Nate Thompson
Yeah, that was before.
Minnie Driver
That was before the low, the lower rookie salaries.
Nate Thompson
So we like to chop it up here live from Radio Row New Orleans. But we're really just trying to get you to think of those rare moments where, look, work stinks most of the time, but there's every once in a while where the gods smile on you and you get paid to do basically nothing. Right? Everyone has to have one little moment in their life where they're like, that was the easiest money I ever made. Rodney Dangerfield style, some easy money. And rich. I know you have a story too that comes to mind of like, yo, that was the easiest payday I ever had.
Covino
Can I tell you that? I think I have the answer. It's not, it's not the biggest money deal, but can you think of a guy? And you're always going to come up with guys on your team. So part of me that it's a met, but can you think of a guy that signs a deal and like almost didn't play yet your team still wasted payroll and salary on this guy. Do you remember former Oakland A, he was around the league a little bit. Jed Lowry.
Nate Thompson
I remember the name.
Covino
Remember the name. Jed Lowry. The Mets signed him in the late 20 teens. From what I understand as I'm reading his stats, on January 10, 2019, Lowry signed a two year deal with the Mets. He was placed on the disabled list. The IL with a sprained knee. Ultimately, in two years, as a method, he had seven at bats.
Nate Thompson
Oh my God.
Covino
He saw no field time. Seven pinch hits, no hits, no hits. 0 for 6 with a walk in seven at bats. And he signed a big two year deal.
Minnie Driver
Enigma, which you turned me on to. Was it Netflix?
Nate Thompson
Yeah, the.
Minnie Driver
With Aaron Rodgers.
Nate Thompson
Aaron Rodgers series. Yeah.
Minnie Driver
Remember Matt Flynn kept talking.
Nate Thompson
Yes.
Minnie Driver
Throughout the. The docu series. He made more than $19 million during his NFL career.
Nate Thompson
See, that's.
Minnie Driver
And he only had seven starts.
Covino
And you know, it was based on that one game, one good game. He played for the packers as a backup.
Minnie Driver
Yeah.
Covino
And, and lit it up. And then the Seahawks signed him. And if you remember how that story went, then they drafted Russell Wilson. Russ beat him out in camp and he never.
Andrew Whitworth
Yeah.
Minnie Driver
Then he, then he goes to the Raiders and Derek Carr beat him out in preseason.
Covino
So it's. Yeah, that.
Nate Thompson
That guy still got his $19 million.
Covino
I mean there have been times where Covino and I have worked really hard and haven't really got paid for something we did. Hosted an event, did something for a client. And then there's those few times that in everyone's career and I'm sure everyone feels the same way.
Nate Thompson
Yeah. You can't believe you got paid.
Covino
There was a time where I've hosted events where I've done such minimal work. I just played music and made one announcement. It was a pretty nice payday. And I remember being like, like, why would they pay me this?
Minnie Driver
You feel like you're robbing a bank.
Covino
You know what?
Nate Thompson
That's the first thing. A lot of times as radio hosts will host a sales event and they want you to come by and you think that you're going to have to speak at this event and sometimes they don't want you to. You're like, really? So why am I here?
Covino
So you just want me to like walk around?
Minnie Driver
Yeah, you're like a, you're like a male model. Yeah.
Nate Thompson
So what am I here to do? You don't want, you don't want me on the mic to like at least, least make an announcement or say hello to the clients. And it's like you're basically paying us to do nothing. That again, there's a lot of times we don't get paid anything at all. But in those moments it's like it evens out because they. Wow, they paid us for that.
Covino
So whatever your line of work is, I'm sure there's an Example of this because I'll give you one more. During COVID my wife and I, we bought our house in Los Angeles. But in order to buy that house, we had, we had a property in Texas that we sold. That was when people were looking for houses. Inventory was low, you know, prices were going through the roof. Our real estate agent was sending us like fruit baskets and prizes and wine and everything because they put the house on the market, it sold in a day because that was when the market. And he's like, listen, I've never sold the house. I'm taking a commission for. He felt guilty, the real estate guy.
Nate Thompson
He's like, oh, but he took it.
Covino
Oh, he took it. But he was. He sent my wife and I like some prizes essentially because he's like, he didn't do anything. I did nothing.
Nate Thompson
Sold himself.
Covino
And that's the Kirk Cousins story. Everyone did nothing.
Nate Thompson
Yeah, he did nothing for that team.
Covino
But he seems like a good dude.
Nate Thompson
$294 million in his football career. So that's a lot of.
Covino
That's a lot of button down shirts of Coles.
Nate Thompson
That is. So what's that story for you? You could share at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio. And remember, we're joined by Gary V. On over promised FOX Sports Radio's YouTube page next. That's our bonus pod.
Covino
