Let's get into it. You know who shook it up? The Lakers, making one of the biggest trades in their franchise's history. And last night was huge. A big time debut for Luca. Not necessarily on the court, but everything from the intro to LeBron embracing him. I want to start by saying Anyone that doubts LeBron James leadership is a damn fool.

[Jack McBrayer]

Oh, he's playing everything right. And you got to appreciate that. Danny G. You got to appreciate that. I love the little pregame speech of don't fit in, fit the F out, as he said.

[Alec Baldwin]

Yeah, that's what he said in the little huddle. Be yourself. And you know what? When you saw Team USA at the Olympics, what did every veteran superstar all say? They were beside themselves when it came to LeBron's work ethic, his training, what a leader he is. Yet us as idiotic fans still doubt this guy. It's fascinating to me.

[Jack McBrayer]

And he's gonna lead by example. A great role model for Luka. What's Luka's biggest criticism? His conditioning. The way he treats his body. And the reason LeBron is who he is is because he treats his body like a well oiled machine.

[Alec Baldwin]

Like a temple.

[Jack McBrayer]

Right? Like a temple. Yes. Millions of dollars invested on staying in shape and being that guy and that's given him the longevity and the health. So if Luka just learns by his leadership, that's amazing and that's what you want. I think LeBron has done everything right so far. It's good to see, you know, he's welcoming the new guy and the the don't fit in, fit the F out. It makes no sense grammatically, but makes perfect sense when you think about it. It's like be you. Don't try to fit in with us, just be you. Cause you're great the way you are. Just ball out and be Luka and we're gonna love it. Like we'll, we'll fit in around you. You're the guy. So it's also LeBron saying, like, you're the dude. Just. Just do what you do. And that's. That's an honor in itself, you know? And like I said, it doesn't make sense. Like, the ceiling is the roof. Like, the ceiling is the roof doesn' but you know what it means, right? So I like that.

F out. He loves him just the way you are.

Yeah. He doesn't need to fit in. He just needs to be Luca and ball out.

Shouldn't he preface that with a please get fit first?

And no in and out, buddy. But you know what?

Don't fit in. Get fit.

I thought it was also very cool, again, a leadership move by LeBron to say, yeah, yeah, I get it. Usually I'm the one that's last to be introduced. Place goes nuts. LeBron James, he said, no, no.

That sounded more like the SNL guy.

LeBron James musical guest Mandy Moore.

I feel like you gave it an.

SNL hosting Machine Gun Kelly. It's almost like Captain Crunch.

Yeah, you gave it that. You gave it a little bit of that. You know, it did dawn on me, well, what a solid move that was, right. For LeBron to. I mean, also an obvious one. I don't give too much credit. That's the least LeBron could have done on this guy's debut. He's a star in his own right.

To give him the last intro.

And the other guard. Where is number 77? 677 campaign from Slovenia.

Luca also makes me realize I might need to be the new Laker PA guy. Give me a little oof.

You guys been the Laker Penns, man, for, like, 40 years.

You're too hyped up, man. Yeah, you're too hyped. You'd annoy everybody out the arena.

But I did think about this last night. It dawned on me. Danny G, did you have this thought to, like, they really rolled out the carpet for Luca. Everybody in attendance got a 77 jersey. It was all draped on the chair like Oprah was in charge, man.

You get a jersey.

[Jack McBrayer]

You get a jersey. Everybody got a jersey. And I wonder how that makes LeBron feel. Like, wow, man, there I. Did everyone get a jersey when I showed up?

[Alec Baldwin]

I don't remember that. I think LeBron needs more accolades. I think at this point, no but.

[Jack McBrayer]

Do they have to, like, sort of run it by him a little bit? Like, hey, LeBron, we mean no offense. Like, is it that kind of relationship? I don't think so.

[Alec Baldwin]

I think we're beyond that because he didn't even know about the trade. We're at a point now where LeBron is a legend, but the Lakers are thinking beyond LeBron James and the fact that they have his leadership to bring Luca in the mix. And from what I watched, I didn't watch the whole game, but from what I watched, it seemed like The Lakers have LeBron or Luka or both on the court at any given time. That is something that.

[Jack McBrayer]

Well, that opens it up for Austin Reeves even more. So, honestly, if your concern is LeBron and then Luca and then at times LeBron and Luca, Reeves is just the guy. And did he have the most points? No, LeBron had 24 points last night. Reeves had 22 points. I did watch the game because I felt like, you gotta watch history, right? Well, I gotta see him make his first shot, makes his first three. Props to him. It was a big moment. Danny G, what were your thoughts watching everything? Cause you're the lifelong Lakers guy. How did you feel watching this?

[Dan Aykroyd]

Remember last week when we read the quotes from LeBron? When he said it, it felt. It didn't feel real that it had happened, that the trade took place last night. Watching them together, it almost felt like a little mini all Star team. And it was almost surreal in a way. As a Lakers fan, I was like, is this really happening right now? Like, yeah, I'm going to Ms. AD because he was one of my favorite players. But to watch those two out there on the court at the same time, and then a lot of people forget how they acquired Finney Smith and how well Rui has been playing. And some of the guys off the Lakers bench, right, that are fan favorites, they got a really nice squad. And remember, just we're just removed, a couple years removed from the Lakers, really struggling as far as depth goes. So now to have what we have in front of us at the moment is pretty amazing.

[Jack McBrayer]

Hachi Miura had 21 points, and it looked like they were having fun last night too, right? And it was wild to see, like Danny G. Said, superstars, the Utah Jazz, they were getting clobbered because they don't get a break. You know, you had LeBron, like I said, LeBron and Luka out there together. Then LeBron comes out, Luca goes in, Luca goes out, LeBron comes in. It was no breaks for the Utah Jazz, they had no shot. I mean, granted they're 12 and 40, but the Lakers look dominant last night, and that's just their first game together. They're going to be better and better.

[Alec Baldwin]

You know, interestingly enough, LeBron has been part of so many winning teams, but, you know, the. The 2020 bubble championship. LeBron James with him and Adam. Dom Pardo. He passed away, didn't he? He passed away in 2014 at the age of 96. Yeah, I remember that legend. His voice was the best. Oh, he was amazing. But AD and LeBron won the bubble chip that some people criticize. I think it's equally or more impressive in some aspects. Point is, since then, Danny, we've known you for three, four years now. There's been a couple seasons. Where are the Lakers going to sneak into the playing game? Are the lakers, like, floating around 500? This is no longer a floating around.500. Maybe they'll make noise in the playoffs team. This is a.

[Dan Aykroyd]

All right.

[Alec Baldwin]

They're top tier team. It would almost be disappointing if they didn't make a deep run or go all the way.

[Dan Aykroyd]

Yeah. And you just have to be worried a little bit about when they go up against maybe the Nuggets or a team that has more size.

[Jack McBrayer]

Oh, the Nuggets.

[Dan Aykroyd]

One thing.

Luca will eat them. Don't worry about it.

But maybe they can outscore those teams. And I did like reading a story yesterday about Jack Jackson Hayes. He's really the only true center that could be a starter on the team right now when that Williams trade fell through. But I read that Luca and Hayes. Hayes was the first one who took him out to dinner when Luca got to town because the two of them were kind of buddies in the past. Luca used to tell him when Hayes was on the New Orleans Pelicans, hey, dude, we got to play together sometime, you and me. So the two of them had joked around prior saying that they wanted to play together. And so you see Jackson Hayes hopefully stepping up to fill that big man role that the team's really going to need.

[Jack McBrayer]

Danny G. Rich, Sam. I had to mansplain. With all due respect, I had to mansplain to my girlfriend last night the significance of the trade. She's like, you're watching the Lakers. I'm like, oh, football's over. I got to shift my focus. You know, me, Lakers guy.

[Alec Baldwin]

But it's bachelor night.

[Jack McBrayer]

I'm like, you know what? Honestly, Bachelor took a backseat Lucas debut. So I was trying to explain her the importance, and obviously she knew. Everybody knows that the Trade happened.

[Alec Baldwin]

Did you mansplain. Mansplaining to her?

[Jack McBrayer]

I did. I said, let me mansplain. She's like, what's that? I said, well, let me mansplain. And I was like. They traded ad, Great defensive star for Luca, one of the biggest stars of now, of today. He's 25 years old. Whole future ahead of him. So the Mavericks got ad, but he's hurt now, right? And he could be out for a month. She's like, oh, my God. And I'm like, well, Luca's a superstar international star. How did they let him go? And I'm trying to explain it to her, and I could see it's not sinking in. So I put it in. In terms that she might understand. I was like, it's like the Lakers getting a Louis Vuitton bag for a coach bag. And she was like, oh, wait, but then the.

[Alec Baldwin]

But. But Dallas might have too many Louis Vuittons and really, really want a coach, right?

[Jack McBrayer]

I was like, it's like trading your Barbie doll and getting the skipper. Remember Skipper? Like the little ugly sister. Oh, yeah. Oh, my God. I'm like, yeah. Not that ad's like, you know, ugly and bad. He's great, but he's older and he's hurt and everything.

[Alec Baldwin]

But also the Barbie not going to the gym as much.

[Jack McBrayer]

Right, right. Yeah, exactly. So, you know, I was trying to find all these ways to explain. I think it eventually sunk in, you know, the significance and the importance of something that we hadn't seen before, which is why we had to tune in and take some notes. And, dude, Luca ended up with 14 points, and they still clobbered him.

[Dan Aykroyd]

Yeah, he only played 23 minutes. Because they have limited a little bit coming off his injury, by the way.

[Alec Baldwin]

I almost feel like that should be a new segment, because I enjoy that Mansplains.

[Jack McBrayer]

Yeah. I mean, she's like, she gets her sports, but she didn't understand, like, why it was such a big deal that I had to be watching, eating popcorn to see this moment, you know, and everyone got a jersey. I'm like, luca's a big deal. And they got rid of a big deal who's. Well, he's not as good, but he's good in a different way. Defensive, he's a big star, but he's not like.

[Dan Aykroyd]

Yeah. As Mark Cuban tried to explain when he was on stage recently. Did you guys see that clip? He said, it's like trading Windows 11 for Windows 10. He's like, 10's a Hall of Famer, but 11's right. Now, if it was up to him. And he tried to put in a last minute phone call saying, please don't trade Luca. And it had already taken place. They verbally agreed over the phone already.

[Alec Baldwin]

And we had questioned what influence Mark Cuban still had because he's still involved. Right. But he's by no means decision.

[Dan Aykroyd]

Yeah. Arm length away.

[Alec Baldwin]

Yeah. You know what? Mark Cuban would not have let that happen. Mark Cuban didn't. Mark Cuban, he was quoted as saying, he's more likely to get divorced than part ways with Luca. So that's how you knew. Mark Cuban's poll is just, you know, he's outside looking in now. He's part of it, but not.

[Jack McBrayer]

So your thoughts. Did LeBron do everything right again? He told him, don't fit in, fit the f out, and get fit while you're at it. That part I added, but I think it proves the point. You know, we often question, when you're the new guy at the office, is it the new guy's job to introduce himself to everybody else and make them feel welcome? No, it's everyone else's job to make the new guy feel welcome. Right. The new guy needs to be open to it and he needs to put his best foot forward. But it's like when we started here at Fox Sports. Yeah, we got some dirty looks. I know that. But we put our best foot forward, and most people were very welcoming and that.

And you brought free tacos.

And we brought tacos. Yeah, exactly.

That's what the new guy has to do.

And also President Trump. I remember the story at the end of last week was suite tickets were going up in price, but people wanted to be in the suite next to either Trump or Taylor. And I'm curious if they were actually even close. They didn't show either one, which was shocking. I thought the overrun There was like 10 times on each of them.

Yeah, they did on in the stadium, which I think was a story that you guys heard. When they showed President Trump there was a cheer and they got the booze. Yeah. Eagles fans being loud. But that was. They do it once and what they do is where you see like at the Garden, you know, the Knicks just do celeb after celeb or like to do with the Lakers here, they would do a celeb and then they would do the common fan. So it would be mixed up. You wouldn't just get like eight celebrities in a row. You would get like one or two and then you would get, you know, just common fans waving.

[Alec Baldwin]

You know what's so funny? The fact that Donald Trump. By the way, I'm not a Trump hater by any means, but I thought it was a little, little odd that he put on social media like no one had a worse day than Taylor Swift. The fact that he even.

[Jack McBrayer]

I mean, he says a lot of dumb things, puts that out whether you like him or not.

[Alec Baldwin]

That's very funny.

We saw her a couple times, in fact, one of the good pals we took away from our time at ESPN back in the day. And she was sort of responsible for breaking this story. And I was saying, if you want to just roll it. She talked about Aaron Rodgers and where things may have gone wrong with the Jets. Take a listen. When they had conversations with Aaron Rodgers, about what the future would look like. If you're going to be part of this team, you're going to attend all the training camp, you're not going to do Pat McAfee interviews anymore.

Yeah. If you were to stay here, here's.

So this, to me, is Aaron Glenn getting control back.

So the jets made it clear if you want to return, no more mispractices, no more McAfee appearances, no more, you know, Aaron Rodgers antics. You know, none of that. And what I think is going on here is them sort of forcing him out. I call it offers you can't accept. It's like when a job low balls you and you can't accept it because it's insulting. So it's not like you're fired.

We offered you a job.

Exactly. Rich and I have been there. It's like, like in our previous employer, we weren't technically fired. And I would always defend that. We weren't fired. We weren't let go. We got an offer we couldn't accept. And it's just the company's way of making you, forcing you to make that decision.

You know, it's like, it's like a girl make. You ever been in a relationship where you're too much of a coward to break up with someone and you're like, I'm just gonna make. I'm gonna make it so annoying. I'll be such a terrible guy that she dumps me. I've been on the receiving end where I'm like, I think she just wants me to dump her. Zack Morris did that once in an.

Hey, guys, you know, we're going through Covid times. What do you say you take a pay cut with a non compete and it's like, well, that just makes zero sense.

Pay cut, cutting down like the hours. You know, not everybody would be involved the same way. And you're like, well, why would I do that? So they're forcing you to make a decision. And in a lot of ways, that's what I'm getting from this. They're going to tell Aaron Rodgers, who, again, he's been doing sort of what he's wanted to do his whole career. Now all of a sudden he has these restrictions and he can't do what he wants. And, like, I don't see that vibing with him at all at this stage of his career. So he's forced to then say, nah, I'll take my talents elsewhere.

So the question is, did the jets pull a I'm going to make you dump me move? Which we've all been in. You might have to think back to high school or college, but I think we've all been in a scenario where it's like, yeah, this person. This person's forcing my hand. They're not doing it. But.

[Jack McBrayer]

And now the question is, well, they are. What's he going to do next? And it's a speculation of, well, is he done now? But his former teammate Aaron Jones said today that he's definitely not done. He thinks he still has a lot in the tank and he still has a lot to prove. So then there's that conversation. But I'm still dying to hear how he's like me. So maybe you can tell us Aaron.

Rodgers is like Steve Covino.

[Jack McBrayer]

I'm dying to find out because I feel like I don't have anything in common with that guy Aaron Rodgers.

And you are cut from the same cloth in that when someone tells you to do something and pushes enough, it just makes you want to do it even less. There was another athlete or someone we talked about recently.

[Jack McBrayer]

I got it. We just talked to. Who was this Jim Lampley.

Yeah, I don't know what that is. It's not like a quality that I'm proud of or anything. It's honestly how my instincts work. It's like, all right, now you've built this up to be even more than it should be, and you're making something out of it, and I don't like it. Like, if it was my decision to go out there and bust the move or go out there and tell a joke or go out there and sing a song, I'll do that spontaneously. But now that you, like, put this pressure on me, now, I don't want to do it.

If you said, hey, we're at an event, yo, pass the mic to Kavino, say a few words. If you told him more than once, like, come on, bro. Every time you say, come on, bro. Not never will he do it.

This is the reason Kavino still hasn't watched shrinking on Apple tv.

Yeah, now I. Now it looks like I gave in. Like, get out of here. So in other words, it clear Aaron Rodgers. If. If someone's telling Aaron Rodgers, bona fide superstar in the league, what to do, what he can and can't do, it's probably going to make him say, well, then I'm. Then I'm out of here.

Beat it. If our boss, Don or Scott was like, guys, we're going to reopen your contract, fat new deal. Cross your fingers for that. I like that idea. Right.

Yes. But I think he should end up in a cave by himself, doing whatever he wants to do. Like, I don't think he should be playing. I don't think he should be taking these kind of orders at this stage of his career. I don't think he should be putting his health in jeopardy at an older age. I don't think he could lead a younger team. He's not that type of guy. If I was a franchise, I wouldn't want to invest in this dude to be that guy. That's what the jets did. It failed.

Yeah, I could see that happening. But if I was a Vikings fan, I would not want. Yeah, there's a big difference between Darnold and Rogers.

Yeah. Kavino and Rich have narrowed it down to four teams, and he can't go. There's 28 teams in the National Football League that I promise you. No, not happening. Four teams. Pick your poison. Aaron Rodgers, Colts only AFC team. And then if you go to the nfc, Giant, Saints or Vikings. How could you. How could you. How can you. How could you make an argument? Honestly? Because if Derek Carr wants more money and they say no, if that will give Aaron Rodgers a One to two year deal and draft or something. You know what I'm saying?

So based on everything we learned about Aaron Rodgers and his stubborn behavior.

I don't think. I don't think Minnesota is an option at all.

I do think the Giants could be a possibility. I actually think Danny's Raiders are a good possibility as well. I don't think that. I don't think that Aaron Rodgers would play for a team that doesn't have a profile or a high profile. So the Colts, to me, don't fit that. Saints don't fit that. The Giants and Raiders do. But then again, I don't think he's going to play next year. So that's where my gut stands.

But then why not the Vikings? Because that's why I said the Vikings, J.J. mcCarthy. Okay. Because I was like, at least they're good and they could use somebody to figure it out. In between.

But if they move on from Darnold and have a little, a little money for a short term deal to have.

Gj, I don't want him in my building at all.

And that would only be if McCarthy isn't 100% healthy. Because if he's healthy, the Vikings love McCarthy. Yeah. He'd be the starter in Week 1.

Brady have a little influence there. Like, hey listen, we're revamping, we're rebranding, we're in Vegas, we got young draft picks. We're not there yet. Aaron Rodgers, does that make sense to a Brady?

I think they're going to try to run the ball. That's why you hire Chip Kelly and so you're not asking Rogers to do tons. You have your tight end, all world tight end there. Yeah, I mean I, I don't know receiver wise on if Rogers would want to bring anybody else in, but I just don't think there would be as much pressure. Division is murderous, but I don't know if that even matters to Aaron Rodgers.

I was going to say that division. He's bringing in Randall Cobb, he's bringing in Alan Lazaro. Didn't she get ready to.

[Dan Aykroyd]

But everybody's getting second chances. Like Chip Kelly's back in the NFL. Pete Carroll's back now with the Raiders. There's cachet with that organization. There just isn't with the Colts. And I think you got to see the Anthony Richardson thing out at least at some point. So that's why I don't think that those options.

[Jack McBrayer]

I don't think any organization that takes himself serious is going to want to invest their future with Aaron Rodgers at this stage.

[Alec Baldwin]

But Kavino, short term, Dan by brings up the point that he may not want to go to one of those smaller market teams. But think about the baseball world. How many times has a smaller market team been like. Like the Oakland A's decided to take on Piazza for a year just because you're trying to get that big name and maybe they could fill some seats. I don't know.

[Jack McBrayer]

When the Tampa Bay Devil race did that with like Boggs and McGriff and Canseco and Castillo, it was loaded yeah. And sucked.

[Dan Aykroyd]

But didn't they put in like Bond Boggs contract that when he goes into the hall he had to wear a raise hat?

[Jack McBrayer]

Yeah.

And he did. And that's what made the change.
