There's a big story today, courtesy of our old pal Malika Andrews, who we used to see. Very nice person, very great at her job. She's interviewing Luca and Luca says when he found out the news, he was in bed. When he found out about the trade, dude was in bed and he said, and I quote, is it April 1st? His heart was broken, honestly. And he took his phone and he. Here's the meat of the story. He took his phone and threw it against the wall. I'm assuming he threw it and he broke it. I'm wondering and guessing where. Maybe he slammed it on the floor. Maybe he slammed it.
Dan Byer
Oh, I was wondering, does he have. Does the Apple care?
Steve Covino
No. Because Malika then goes to say, do you still have it? And they bring it in, it's all cracked up. She goes, does it still work? And he's like, yeah, it's a great endorsement for an iPhone, but it's in a million pieces. Cracked in a million pieces. But if you missed it, take a listen.
Dan Byer
You hang up the phone the night.
Steve Covino
You'Re traded and you threw it.
Rich Davis
Yes. Do you have that phone?
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Rich Davis
You still use that phone?
Dan Byer
Yeah. Still works. Listen with Apple, new screens, 20 bucks. Just letting you know, Luke, I would throw it out there.
Steve Covino
Well, he didn't get it repaired as far as I know. Still works. And he's using a cracked phone, but he shows it and you see, he's all smiles now. But for him to admit that his heart was broken honestly in a, in a vulnerable moment, and he believed that it was April 1, like a bad joke. Goes to show you how it really affected him, man. And to react in that way. I'm not saying he has anger issues, but I think it really hit him in a serious way. So we posed this question first and first. Mostly, what are your thoughts on that? But also, have you ever been so mad you did something stupid like that and immediately regret it?
Dan Byer
People do it all the time. I think they're assholes. But to me, to break your own.
Steve Covino
Property, It's a line from Goodfellas. I believe when the women would spit in their own house and Karen's like, they would spit in their own home. I never understood that. Like, why would you do that to your own stuff? It's like the jabroni that breaks the TV when his team loses impulse control. Aside from just wanting to go viral and for the clicks, I just don't get it.
Rich Davis
That's the stupidest thing ever.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Dan Byer
I think nowadays you see like a Dallas Cowboys fan and it's all staged because they're getting rid of their old crappy flat screen and buying a new one for like 200 bucks at Walmart. So why do you have to destroy.
Rich Davis
It though, for a stupid bit?
Dan Byer
Well, they assume $200 is the cost of business, so they'll take their, you know, crappy old flat screen, knowing they're getting a new one and be like, cowboy's lost.
Steve Covino
Woo wee.
Dan Byer
Slam it down. Try to get 100,000 views. It's ridiculous. But anyone that really breaks their own stuff, it's wild to me. I can never understand.
Steve Covino
Well, or maybe it's few and far between where you're ever that mad and emotional. Because if you're a dad of a teenage kid, they could push you to their limits for sure. Like, I could tell you straight up, like, I start to see red and I, like, I want to bang my head through the wall, let alone throw something. So, you know, you have to practice restraint. But I've seen my dad. I saw my. My dad. I think he blew a circuit one time and he's never been the same since. My sisters pushed him to the limit. He had three teenagers at like one time, girls. And.
Dan Byer
And he's still alive.
Steve Covino
And he's still alive. But I remember that one time. I don't know what happened. Let's just say one of my sisters came home late or did something stupid. I just remember him taking the TV out of her room, ripping it out of the wall and throwing it down the steps. And he was like, ah, yeah, dude, I don't think he's ever been the same since I Think he blew a circuit, but. And my dad's a mild mannered dude, so if my dad, who's, you know, great dad, nice guy, could be pushed that far, I guess it could happen to anybody. Well, you're turning to the Incredible Hulk.
Dan Byer
Your dad, big Steve Cavino, has five kids. You always tell the.
Steve Covino
You know what it was? My mom was probably squeezing his shoes all day and he had enough.
Dan Byer
You always tell the story of when you were a little boy and your dad, with all respect, was probably trying to get some booty.
Steve Covino
I mean, I don't know that. Listen, I mean, they had five kids. It's possible.
Dan Byer
I'd imagine Covino tells the story when he was a little kid. You know, when you're a little kid, you're like, mom, dad. And you keep calling them and you're bothering your parents and looking back, you're like, they were probably just trying to enjoy a little alone time and you're knocking on the door.
Steve Covino
No, I mean, he was probably watching Benny Hill downstairs in his tighty whities. That's really what he was probably doing.
Dan Byer
And my kids do it now. Dad, dad. What? You finally go in. Could I have water, please? Kids do this. It's the.
Rich Davis
It's the. Sorry. The Stewie. And from Family Guy goes, mommy, Mommy, Mommy. She's laying right there and she's just staring ahead. Lois. And she's what? You know, eventually she just snaps nothing.
Steve Covino
And that's exactly what it was.
Dan Byer
And your dad, did he not take one of your favorite toys?
Steve Covino
Yeah, he came into my room all mad and he's like, I told you to knock it off. My parents rarely discipline me, so it's the only stories I have. And he's like, what do you want? Like, nothing. Do it one more time to kick your ass. Whatever he said.
Rich Davis
I don't know.
Steve Covino
And of course, I called for my mom one more time. He came in busting in his tighty whities, and he's like, you like this guitar? And I'm like, yeah. And he snapped it. Like, where you go?
Dan Byer
Was your dad the honky tonk? You know what?
Rich Davis
I don't think I ever bo Jacksoned it like a bat.
Steve Covino
Yeah, I don't. That's it over his head, though. I don't think I ever recovered from that. So, yeah, my dad snapped my guitar like it was like a little toy guitar.
Dan Byer
Have you ever pulled a Luca? Have you ever been so mad where you lost your cool? I was bragging about how I don't ever lose my cool. And I just realized I did a couple years ago. My kids, they're seven and five now, so I'm guessing they were five and three, and they were just annoying the hell out of me. Something they were doing.
Steve Covino
Kids will push you, man.
Dan Byer
And I remember grabbing the remote control for our tv. Like our. You know, the smart TV remote.
Steve Covino
Everybody knows what a remote control is, guys.
Dan Byer
It controls your television.
Steve Covino
You know, the little thing with buttons for your tv, the little handheld device.
Dan Byer
And I just lost my cool. I'm like, you kids never listen to me. I took the remote, slammed it down on the floor. It shattered in, like, 25 pieces.
Steve Covino
I remember you telling me that. And your wife got mad at you.
Dan Byer
My wife's like, you know what you're gonna do right now? I'm like, what? She goes, you're gonna go to Best Buy or Target or somewhere and go buy a new remote because you're an idiot. I'm like, you're right. And because I'm like, I was mad at the kids, and now the TV was stuck on whatever was on. I had no remote.
Steve Covino
But I guess it happens. I've seen my mom throw a lot of things at my dad and at me, you know, I remember my mom threw a full on Canada dry soda can at me one time. I don't remember what I did.
Rich Davis
A full one.
Dan Byer
Yeah.
Rich Davis
That's gonna hurt. I know.
Steve Covino
Lucky I had matrix ninja skills.
Rich Davis
So chop that thing in midair, I'm.
Steve Covino
Sure it's gonna wall, right? Like, if there's a dent in your wall, there's a good chance that someone threw something or, I don't know, there was an accident or someone had a fit of rage.
Rich Davis
People punch the wall. They don't often think. Like, Andy in the office, he gets so mad, and he just punches the drywall.
Steve Covino
That happens a lot more than we realize.
Rich Davis
You do that a lot?
Dan Byer
No, it does. And I'll tell you why. Because my contractor, we redid our whole house when we bought it. It had not been touched since the 50s. So I spent a lot of time with my contractor, and he would tell me he had clients that would call him every so often. Like, yeah, can you do quick little patchwork, Little Sheetrock, a little spackle? Because people have tempers, and there's people that on the regular, will be like, ra. And punch the sheetrock in their house.
Steve Covino
I'll tell you what, Rich. I wouldn't throw my phone the way Luca did. But it does show you how. How it hit him, right? Like, he didn't think about it.
Dan Byer
You think deep down.
Steve Covino
I don't think it was like a money thing. That's another question. Because people.
Rich Davis
Yeah. He lost 100 million.
Steve Covino
People speculate. The tears. Right. Would he have.
Rich Davis
He loves Dallas.
Steve Covino
Traded that in, like, of course he didn't want it to happen. I think he's happy now. Of course. You know? Yeah, I think so. He has a chance to win. They've embraced him.
Rich Davis
Yeah, I know he looks like he's having fun now.
Steve Covino
I do think he's. He's settled in, but there's still some wounds, some scars, some. Some answers, probably that he wants. But he did get that closure recently. But here's what I would do, Rich. If my daughter was just misbehaving because a teenage kid, like I said, will push their limits, I would take her phone and throw it somewhere just to prove a point.
Dan Byer
Then you gotta buy her a new one.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Covino
But still, you know what I mean? I could see myself maybe getting to that point. I go, yeah, you know, I could see that. Because there's so little you could do to discipline a kid nowadays. There really is. There's really so little.
Dan Byer
The days of spanking and, like, old.
Rich Davis
School, especially as my child anymore, it's looked down upon. Yeah.
Steve Covino
I mean, geez, right?
Rich Davis
Like, so hard to parent these days.
Steve Covino
No. But I also, as a co parent, Sam. Right. Like, your hands are really tied because anything you do.
Dan Byer
Yeah.
Rich Davis
Will be used against you by the child or the ex.
Steve Covino
But you know what I did? I bought that phone. So you're giving me some crap. I'll take that phone.
Dan Byer
I'll throw it in.
Steve Covino
I'll pull a Luca.
Rich Davis
When I was a little kid here in la, we had a neighbor named Luis. He lived two houses down. And he was. He was so scared to get into trouble because when he did something that made his mom or dad mad, he got a spanking out on the front lawn. His dad would take a kitchen chair out and spank him in public.
Steve Covino
Oh, it's the worst.
Rich Davis
Public lashings. Yeah.
Steve Covino
So we ask, send them over and.
Rich Davis
Spank them in front of the neighborhood. Fox Sports robs you of your dignity.
Steve Covino
I want to hear your Kevin Brown moments, your Paul O'Neill uncontrollable moments. It's okay. Vent. Tell us, you know, make sense of this Lucas story, because that's the story right now. He was so mad. That's what happened. And he's still using that phone, which is amazing.
Dan Byer
I'll tell you where this happens quite a bit. You know me, number one softball player in the Valley Here in California, I always use other people's bats, but there's guys that I play with that spend 3, $400 on a nice, like, top level, the Marini bat. Like these really torpedoes. Like, torpedo bats. No, but they spend a lot of money. And there's some hotheads that, like, pop up with runners on base. They'll take their bat, hit it against the fence. I'm like, you just broke a three. You just popped a $300 bat.
Steve Covino
And that's. It's really. Yeah. I don't know, man. Can't relate.
Rich Davis
Golf clubs are the same way. Like, if you're mad and you want to chuck it into the pond, and then you.
Steve Covino
So stupid.
Rich Davis
Right?
Dan Byer
Golf is a great one. I'm surprised we haven't thought of that yet. I need that.
Rich Davis
Yes. I need that golf club. It's not. And it's not the easiest. I mean, if you want a driver, sure, but there's several hundred dollars, depending on the range that it is. And then there's also just the awkwardness of driving with a person in the cart for the next 200 yards because they just threw their club into the pond.
Steve Covino
Well, I have a dumb question for you, D.B. yes, and I should know. My girlfriend actually works at a golf course. You think I would know some of this stuff? There are people. Yeah.
Dan Byer
Yes. Her name is Jordan Gilmore.
Steve Covino
You know, I know there's people that go into these lakes and they retrieve all these golf balls, and they come up. Do they retrieve a lot of clubs?
Rich Davis
I'm sure that they. They will. Time and again. I don't think it's littered like it would be with golf balls, but I'm sure you'll probably find a driver you have to wedge, depending on what.
Steve Covino
Funny.
Rich Davis
Yeah. You know, sandwich.
Steve Covino
It's all evidence of angry people.
Dan Byer
Hey, DB have you ever seen the viral clip recent? I saw some dude, he was on the putt. He was on the green, made a nice putt. He thought the ball was short. Slams down his putter, snaps in half, and then he gets the roll. So he made the shot, but he didn't let the. The ball had that last little.
Rich Davis
But was it hitting the ground that caused vibrations, like in Caddyshack, the. The dynamite exploding.
Dan Byer
This guy prematurely snapped his putter and then realized, oh, it did. I got the drop.
Rich Davis
I don't want to say it's common, but. By the way, I'm sorry to interrupt my thought. This Cubs Diamondbacks game right now.
Steve Covino
Oh, my God.
Rich Davis
Absolutely. Back and bonkers. Say, Suzuki just hit a Home run to extend the cubs lead to 13 to 11. This was a. After six innings, it was a 21 ballgame. It is now 13 to 11 in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Dan Byer
Wow.
Steve Covino
And you said someone hit a granny, right? A little while ago.
Rich Davis
There have been two grand slams. Ian happy to grand slam for the cubs in the seventh. And then they added another, so they were up 71 heading to the eighth. The Diamondbacks then scored 10 runs in the top of the eighth inning with Eugenio Suarez hitting a grand Islam. Lourdes Guriel Jr. Hit a run shot in that same inning. Inning. So it was 11 to 7. Diamondbacks heading to the bottom of the eighth inning, and the Cubs have now scored six in the eighth. Kyle Tucker's hit a two run home run. I mentioned the Suzuki home run. Carson Kelly, who had a two run home run off Corbin Burns in the second inning, hit a three run shot. So he's knocked in five. It is crazy.
Steve Covino
And another hit just now.
Rich Davis
And this has been a standalone game. There's been no other games on today. So if you're fiending for baseball, maybe you have the day off. You're watching an incredible baseball game.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Dan Byer
The funny part is DB much like my dad in the 80s. Oh, yeah. After the seventh inning, let's beat traffic. There was someone that went home when this game was like, two one. That's the worst.
Steve Covino
You're so right about that seventh inning.
Dan Byer
How many times has your dad or grumpy uncle been like, oh, well, let's beat traffic. We'll leave in, like, after the seventh inning stretch.
Steve Covino
Oh, my God. Yeah. 1113 cups.
Dan Byer
Wow.
Rich Davis
In the eighth, I bet you Craig Counsel was throwing his phone, and then now he's mad that he did. Tory Lavella is doing the same thing with the. With the Diamondbacks.
Dan Byer
Wow. Thanks for the update. Update. DB 1311. Cubs bottom eight, one out.
Rich Davis
I'm sorry to interrupt. It's happened so many times, I had to make sure they weren't replays.
Steve Covino
Right, right.
Rich Davis
You're thinking like, oh, wait, I just saw Carson Kelly walking around the diamond. Oh, that was live. Yeah. It's nuts.
Dan Byer
Damn.
Steve Covino
So thank you, DB for the update. Wild game going on as we speak, but some wild news from Luca. And we want to ask you, have you ever ruined your own property because you just couldn't control yourself?
Dan Byer
What happened? How many tennis rackets have been broken?
Steve Covino
I mean, is there any sense of satisfaction? Like when you think of Paul O'Neill? Right. The way he would take it out on a Gatorade? Cooler or the water cooler. He'd just be slamming his bat, busting everything. Everything that's embarrassed. It's embarrassing behavior. It is, right?
Rich Davis
You gotta.
Steve Covino
You think he felt better after that?
Rich Davis
It's almost a little narcissistic after a little while. It's almost a little, like, too showy, and you're like, all right, you gotta tone it down a little bit.
Steve Covino
You look like a big baby. And the only reason I was tolerant of it is cause I loved Paul O'Neal and I knew what he brought to the team. But if I was anyone else watching.
Rich Davis
That, like, it's kind of cringey.
Steve Covino
You're like, yeah, you would hate that.
Dan Byer
I mean, at any level, think about from little league to rec sports, that you always know the guy that gets out, who kicks his glove in the outfield if he misses a fly ball, or the guy that's hits his bat against a fence. Like, you just broke a bat, like I said. Or like DB Said, golf clubs are victims. Tennis rackets. I just mentioned. How many times have you seen a tennis player, like, slamming down the. Those are nice rackets. Part of their collection.
Steve Covino
I don't like that either. Yeah, I think that's a bad look. But, you know, you can't judge either, because I guess everyone has a breaking point. That's the other thing too. Like, Paul O'Neill is an exception. What? He had that many breaking points, he just couldn't control himself. Everybody has a breaking point. I think that was Lucas and I. You know, although I'm not a fan of this behavior, I don't think anybody is. I could see the shock that set in. He said he was in shock, and he was angry and everything. Can you imagine?
Dan Byer
I love the thought of. Have you been so fired up? You were stupidly the guy that broke his own stuff.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Dan Byer
But let me go back to Luca for a second.
Steve Covino
Sure.
Dan Byer
If they win and they're like, the fourth or fifth favorite team to win out of Vegas. Right. I mean, the Lakers are a true contender. They got two of the biggest stars in the league. That's good enough.
Steve Covino
Right.
Dan Byer
If they win the NBA title, does that make up for any sour feelings Luca has? Or do you think there is a part of him that's like, you know, I lost out on a ton of money. They uprooted my life. I had bought a house.
Steve Covino
Is. He also shuts up people, like, I don't know people on this channel who say that the bubble victory doesn't count. Like, give me a break. I think it does a Lot. It does. A lot.
Rich Davis
I think Luca, to answer your question, Rich, I think Luca's always going to have some, you know, bad feelings towards Dallas. Not towards the city, of course, towards the owner and the GM right now.
Steve Covino
But that shit may. That. That might motivate him.
Dan Byer
If some girl dumped you, if some girl that you were in love with broke up with you in a, you know, in a weird, odd way, and you went on to fall in love and you met a new girl there, you still will have some odd feelings about how that ended.
Steve Covino
Yeah, but I use that as motivation.
Rich Davis
Right.
Steve Covino
And another. Another hit in the Cubs. Have bases loaded with one out.
Rich Davis
You know, another one. It's interesting, too, if. If you could go back and do radio in New York, where you guys started, where I'm sure you had a blast, would you love to do it? The reason I bring that up is because it's usually because the people that you work with, and that's what the change with the Mavericks is as I think ultimately Luke is going to realize, you know what? Mark Cuban doesn't own the team anymore. Mark Cuban wasn't running everything. There's different faces in the same places. So it wasn't always going to be the same. So when you look back, I think he'll probably realize that because of Cuban selling the team and handing it over to the people that are making the decisions. And a gm, that. That wasn't there when they drafted him. They traded for him seven years ago in the draft. Like, those things change. So maybe it wouldn't have ended well because these people were there.
Steve Covino
It's a really great point.
Dan Byer
It's a great point. You know, out here in la, there was a big radio show that you guys listen to out here. When we were on the east coast. Out here, Kevin and Bean was a big deal, right?
Steve Covino
Yeah. On K Rock la.
Dan Byer
And isn't one of the. Kevin is now back doing afternoons by himself, and I'm wondering if he went back and he's like, this is not the same place.
Steve Covino
But it's like what you tell your wife all the time. Rich's wife, Sarah, often misses the fun times. Going to the bar in New York City, hanging out with other friends. It's like, yeah, but none of those people are there anymore hanging out the way they used to.
Dan Byer
When my wife left Texas and moved to New York and now la, she'll sometimes be like, I miss getting queso with Loren at the Mexican spot. I miss going to the gym with Lindsey and doing that. She misses some of those things. And I said, babe, all the people you talk about, like yourself, have children, jobs, everything. You. You can't. You're missing something that doesn't exist.
Rich Davis
Yes, That's a great way to put it.
Dan Byer
That doesn't exist anymore.
Steve Covino
That's really it. So Luca has to move on, because you're right. That really doesn't exist anymore. And I think he uses that as motivation. But I want to make it clear, too. If you haven't seen the clip again, Luca with Malika Andrews. He's clearly emotional or talking about how emotional he was, but he seems to be all smiles and in good spirits. It's not like he's sitting there with any sort of remorse or anything. He's just telling the story, and he's being honest about it. But you could see that he's in good spirits now. So let's make that clear. I think he's ready for the playoffs with the Lakers. I'd love to see them win, but your thoughts? I want to know when you blew a fuse like my dad.
Dan Byer
Your phone calls, your feedback next. Right here, Fox Sports Radio.
Steve Covino
You were so mad. You did what?
Dan Byer
We'll take a couple.
Steve Covino
Take your phone calls and move on.
Dan Byer
And I have a music challenge for everyone here in the. In the studio. We're gonna do a music challenge before we get into NBA playoffs. And there's a story about Jackson Dart we want to get to. We're gonna play a game, like you said a lot to get to. Say hi to our pal Tripp in Vegas. Hey, Tripp.
Steve Covino
Hey, Trip.
Rich Davis
Hey.
Dan Byer
Good afternoon.
Rich Davis
It's definitely my favorite show on the radio.
Dan Byer
Thank you, brother.
Rich Davis
Hey. Yes, sir. Good to talk. So we used to have squirrels that would go in and out of my attic when I was a kid. My father got mad one day. He's like, I'm gonna end this.
Dan Byer
Well, he had bought birdshot to shoot.
Rich Davis
The squirrel, but he grabbed the wrong shotgun that had buckshot and shot off the bricks off the corner of that. He killed the squirrel, but he shot the corner of the house. The look on his face was priceless.
Dan Byer
Yeah, listen. Sometimes you destroy your own stuff, and you feel like such an ass clown, anger takes over.
Steve Covino
You have a.
Dan Byer
You have a what you think is a brilliant idea, and it doesn't work out. Let's go to Brian in Vegas. What's up, man?
Rich Davis
Hey, what's up, guys? Me and Tripp need to meet up because.
Steve Covino
Where?
Rich Davis
We must be somewhere close out here in Vegas.
Dan Byer
Let me tell you something. You guys should both meet up June 20th to the 22nd, we're gonna have a big Cavino and Rich party in Las Vegas, so you better be there, brother.
Rich Davis
Oh, yeah, yeah, we'll be there for sure. But, yeah, so about the whole Luca thing, He's gonna. He's gonna have feelings against them regardless, but he can also be very excited. So I'm excited. I'm a Laker fan, so I'm a. I'm excited for him to go through the playoffs and him and LeBron see what they. See what they could do with the dynamic duo, and even Reed, too. But anyway, the whole. If I've ever destroyed my own stuff. Yes, I had. I had a laptop, kind of a busted old laptop that I bought off my buddy for, like, 100 bucks while.
Dan Byer
I'm an online poker player. And one night, it wasn't going very.
Rich Davis
Good, and I was in. I don't know, 100 bucks, 150 bucks or something like that. I got rivered, and it was like. It was. I got so mad, I threw that thing on the ground, and it busted into, like, 100 pieces. I regretted it a little bit, but not a ton, because it was an old one anyway.
Dan Byer
But still, I mean.
Steve Covino
And you know what? It's acceptable. I can't say respectable, but it's acceptable. Because when I think of the Luca story and I hear your story again, everybody. No one's immune to this. Everybody has a breaking point, and it's true. And I could see, like, emotions are at their height. I can't imagine how Luca felt. That's. That's blindsided in a major way. It's a matter of if you act like this all the time. You know, that's the problem.
Rich Davis
It made me think of this great episode of Family Matters. It's called Driving Carl Crazy, where Carl Winslow has, like, high blood pressure, I think, due to getting angry. So he has this little thing where he's like, 3, 2, 1. 1, 2, 3. What the heck is bothering me? And he eventually, like, loses it. And it's just a great episode of Family Members.
Dan Byer
Hey, Sam, Any Carl Winslow reference is always welcome on the show.
Rich Davis
Okay, good, because that was one of my favorite shows.
Dan Byer
You know what? Before we get to DB's update, could we do a quick music challenge in the studio?
Steve Covino
Wait, hold on. I imagine Steve Urkel pushed him to his limits at one point.
Rich Davis
Probably Steve Urkel related.
Dan Byer
Carl, got any cheese?
Steve Covino
Yeah, I imagine he explained exploded at Steve at least at one point in this episode.
Dan Byer
Hey, Laura.
Rich Davis
Did I do that?
Steve Covino
Did I do that?
Dan Byer
All right, real quick, music challenge. This is a viral thing on social media, and I want to see if anyone in the studio can nail it. It'll take a second.
Steve Covino
Oh, by the way, Rich, I had one last story. You remember that one time our old producer got so mad while we were on the air live and he came in and threw a chair across the room.
Dan Byer
Do you remember that, though?
Steve Covino
I do, yeah. But, like, things like that do happen, you know, we just sat there and watched like, is this guy serious right now? Through a chair in the studio? Who does that? He threw a shoe.
Rich Davis
That's crazy.
Steve Covino
Yeah, no, it's true.
Rich Davis
I wait until I get home to do those sort of like, man, you.
Steve Covino
Really trying to make an impact. They're like, I don't get that behavior. It's just.
Rich Davis
It's a little bit self serving.
Steve Covino
Yeah, a little.
Rich Davis
It's very self serving.
Dan Byer
I once had a buddy who did the flip out. He left the restaurant. We were having a radio meeting and he was fed up with a, you know, something at the ratings or the boss told him to do something. He's like, well, f this, I'm out of here. He goes to kick over the chair and storm out. But his jacket got caught on his chair, so he was like. He was stuck.
Steve Covino
He was like, embarrassing.
Dan Byer
Further embarrassing. Further embarrassing.
Steve Covino
Not exactly making the point you wanted to make.
Dan Byer
Well, you know what? I want to go to Dan by first, and then we'll do the music challenge.
Steve Covino
Perfect.
Dan Byer
Let's get DB's update. What's up, Dan?
Rich Davis
Guys, it was a crazy day in Chicago on the north side. We told you. Cubs had a 21 lead on the Diamondbacks at the end of the sixth. In the seventh inning, it got crazy when the Cubs put six on the board, including. Including a grand slam by Ian Happ. Then there was another grand slam, this time for the Diamondbacks. In the top of the 8th, it was Eugenio Suarez hit a grand slam, followed by Lourdes Guriel Jr's three run home run. Arizona looks like they're running away with it, right? It's 11:7 in the top of the eighth inning. They go to the bottom half of the eighth inning. Cubs rally. Kyle Tucker's hit a two run shot. Now Chicago's in the lead. And then this here's a drive in.
Dan Byer
The deep right center.
Steve Covino
Back goes Thomas. This ball's gone. A home run for Suzuki and the cubs take a 13 to 11 lead.
Rich Davis
That's how it would end on the Cubs radio network. So the craziness at Wrigley ends in that 1311 affair.
Steve Covino

Presented by Capital One, founding partner of iHeart Women's SP. I'm Israel Gutierrez and I'm hosting a new podcast, Dub Dynasty, the story of how the Golden State warriors have dominated the NBA for over a decade.
Dan Byer
The Golden State warriors once again are NBA champions.
Rich Davis
From the building of the core that included Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to one of the boldest coaching decisions in the history of the sport, I just.
Dan Byer
Felt like the biggest thing was to.
Rich Davis
Earn the trust of the players and.
Dan Byer
Let the players know that we were here to try to help them take.
Rich Davis
The next step, not tear anything down. Today, the warriors dynasty remains alive in large part because of a scrawny 6 foot 2 hooper who everyone seems to love for what Steph has done for the game.
Steve Covino
He's certainly on that, like Mount Rushmore.
Dan Byer
For guys that have changed it.
Rich Davis
Come revisit this magical warriors replacement. This is Dove Dynasty.
Dan Byer
The Dubs dynasty is still very much alive.

On November 5, 2018 at 6:33am, a red Volkswagen Golf was found abandoned in a ditch out in Sleep Hole Valley. The driver's seat door was open. No traces of footsteps leaving the vehicle. No belongings were found, except for a cassette tape. Lodged in the player. On that tape were 10 vile. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Desk. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. We're launching this season with a mini series, totally nostalgic, a four part series about the Latinos who shaped pop culture in the early 2000s. It's Lala checking in with all things Y2K 2000s. My favorite memory, honestly, was us having our own media platforms like Mundos and MTV Tres. You could turn on the TV, you.

Dan Byer
There's a great story and it has to do with Jackson Dart and the NFL draft, which is less than a week away. And we are gonna play a game. Is it Cavino or Belichick? So an action packed next hour, but real quick, there's a music challenge that's on TikTok and Instagram. It's like a week old or so. But we haven't done it here, and I want to see if anyone in this studio could nail it. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's called the Whitney Houston challenge. In the song I will always love you, towards the end, there's a break, and then the drum comes back. And I want to see if anyone in the studio could time the drum. And when I say time the drum, you got to slam your hand down real hard. We'll go one at a time. Let me give you an example. Take a listen. I was saying. And now. Now here's the pause. You got to slam your hand down when you think the drum comes back. All right, So I was. I was saying you go first. Okay, Start it up.
Rich Davis
What am I supposed to do?
Dan Byer
Start it up and slam your hand down when you think that drum comes back. See if you can time it.
Rich Davis
This is a thing.
Dan Byer
This is a thing. It's all over Tik Tok and Instagram.
Rich Davis
This is a thing.
Dan Byer
I bet 20 bucks you can't do it on your first time. Go ahead. Slam your hand when you're ready. You're late. I was late. Danny G, you're up.
Rich Davis
All right, let's go.
Dan Byer
Look at Danny G counting to himself.
Steve Covino
Way early.
Dan Byer
Dan Byer, you shot or what?
Rich Davis
Danny's breaking stuff in here. Second early. Should I do, like, Family Feud? One arm behind my back.
Dan Byer
One arm. All right, Dan Byers up. And by the way, this is a dumb TikTok trend that you'll probably see now that I.
Rich Davis
Very dumb.
Dan Byer
Here we go. Damn buyer.
Rich Davis
Closest one yet, though.
Dan Byer
You know why?
Steve Covino
Because when you're doing it, it feels so long.
Rich Davis
It does. Let me give it a shot, especially in radio time.
Dan Byer
Here we go. My counting in my head. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Up. Way early.
Steve Covino
You are early, too, because Danny's right. In radio seconds, let's say it's five seconds. That feels like 10 seconds.
Rich Davis
It sure does.
Dan Byer
In Radio Camino, you're. You're the last guy that has a chance.
Steve Covino
All right, let's go. None of us got it.
Rich Davis
Come on.
Dan Byer
Figured I'd break up the sports with a dumb challenge. Here we go. Kavino, you're up.
Steve Covino
1, 2, 3, 4.
Dan Byer
You're late. I may have had it, though. I was, like, a split second.
Rich Davis
Yeah, you were. You were closest.
Steve Covino
I was, like, right where that was about to hit. It was a.
Rich Davis
But you also got to see what all of us did.
Steve Covino
You know, hey, it is sweeping the nation somehow. Of all people, you believe Paula Abdul got It on the first shot. I saw that first shot. She got it.
Dan Byer
She's a musician and you know dancer and knows. Knows rhythm.
Steve Covino
I mean, yeah. You're being kind by saying she's a musician.
Dan Byer
I'm sorry. I mean, are you not.
Steve Covino
Do you love her?
Rich Davis
Did she dance with a cartoon or something?
Steve Covino
MC Scat Cat is a bigger musician.
Dan Byer
Straight up. I think you're giving it not enough credit.
Steve Covino
I mean, I love some of those songs.
Rich Davis
Do you know who wrote I Will Always Love youe? Yes.
Steve Covino
Dolly Parton.
Dan Byer
Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton.
Steve Covino
Thank you. So, yes. If you have the TGA like Rich does, that is definitely viral.
Dan Byer
What's the tga?
Steve Covino
Teenage girl algorithm. If you have that. Yes. Then you are bound to see incorrect.
Dan Byer
Mike algorithm is ass cheeks the Mets.
Steve Covino
And coaching tips and viral challenges like that. But it is fun. It is fun because it's very hard to time.
Rich Davis
Can I just say I'm happy that younger people are listening to Whitney Houston. So that's fine.
Dan Byer
Hey, Sam, I want you to. I'm going to give one person one more chance. I was Sam. You. I choose you. Okay. I think you could do it. All right, one more. And don't worry, we're going to get to NBA and NFL draft coming up. Slam your hand down hard, Sam. Come on.
Rich Davis
Ow.
Dan Byer
That hurt.
Rich Davis
Let me go really quick. I think I could get it.
Dan Byer
All right, Danny G. Give Danny G one more shot.
Steve Covino
So stupid.
Rich Davis
I heard my. Out of anger, I hurt myself. I was.
Dan Byer
Sam's on the aisle now.
Steve Covino
Oh, yeah, it was. It was staggered. You know how many idiots were banging their dashboard on this ride home? I don't know.
Dan Byer
And you know you're gonna do that dumb crap with your family tonight. Hey, again, NBA playoffs this weekend. We'll talk some NFL draft. Talk a little NFL draft. We're less than a week away. I see all the guys, the editors in the hallway talking about who's going where, who's picking who, what's going to happen. We got the big Fox Sports Radio NFL draft show that's happening Thursday night and Jackson dark, from what I understand.
Rich Davis
Dart.
Dan Byer
Get with it. Jackson is pulling an interesting move, which is he's not going to Green Bay to be there live for the draft. And it's an interesting thought. If you were a young kid, college kid, that's about to have your family stars be changed. You're going to make it to the National Football League. The money, the fame. Your family could be middle class or struggling and all of a sudden, again, your family's future has been changed forever. Would you want to be there to awkwardly bro hug Roger Goodell, get up on that stage and hold up your jersey, or do you want to spend that time in your living room with like your cousins and friends, just chilling out on the couch?
Steve Covino
It's a great question. I think it's more trendy, especially this year, to not go for whatever reason. So he's not on the attendees list again. Jackson, Dar Ole Miss. Do you gotta go? He's projected what, bottom of the first round?
Rich Davis
Exactly.
Steve Covino
Hmm.
Rich Davis
Yeah. He could be a team that could jump up towards the middle.
Steve Covino
You know, someone that high, I think you, you should. These are once in a lifetime things and I get it. Well, you could say, then you should be there with your family. I think if you're more bottom down, then I understand, but this is a major event.
Dan Byer
Are you a top or bottom of the draft?
Steve Covino
These are spectacles nowadays. We talked about the evolution of the draft for you not to go. It's like the guy who doesn't go to his prom. It's like, why not? Why wouldn't you go? The guy that doesn't go to the company Christmas party and you're like, well, why didn't you go?
Dan Byer
Devil's advocate. Do you want me to be Keanu or.
Steve Covino
Or. Or the guy who, who's receiving an award? He doesn't go because what didn't mean anything to you? I get being with your family is a big deal, but you should be there for that moment.
Dan Byer
Let me play devil's advocate. Do you want me to do Keanu.
Steve Covino
Or how do you.
Dan Byer
How do you feel about the guy.
Steve Covino
That wins an award and doesn't go?
Dan Byer
That thing is lame.
Steve Covino
Ok, then why would this be any different?
Dan Byer
Let's say, hoo ha, Devil's advocate. Let's say you're Aaron Rodgers and you think you're going at the top and then you embarrassingly sit there pick after pick after pick. Didn't that also happen to. Who else was it like, there's another quarterback in recent years that was sitting there like a putz. You don't want to be that guy.
Steve Covino
Yeah, you don't want to be that guy, but you also don't want to be the guy who doesn't show up to receive his Academy Award because he's too cool for him. So on behalf of Jackson Dart, I say thank you.
Dan Byer
I look at it this way as well. It's an opportunity to showcase your style. And I know that doesn't mean a lot to some, but what are they Featuring, you're going to see this in the NBA playoffs this weekend. What are they going to show all pregame? The players walking in the tunnel and what they're wearing. Their quote unquote drip. Honestly, this could be like, look at that jacket. Look at those sneakers. Look at that. Style is a big part of the NBA in the NFL.
Steve Covino
I feel like you don't think there's.
Dan Byer
An opportunity to be like, yo, look at my jewelry, look at my suit. I get to strut up there, hold up my jersey, bro, hug the commissioner. And it's. It's your first real introduction to the casual fan.
Rich Davis
Johnny Manziel had to wait until 22.
Dan Byer
You know, I was going to say Manziel, and then I'm like, I thought if I was wrong, you guys would make fun of me. Yeah, he had a way.
Steve Covino
I mean, we make fun of you no matter what, so you should have went for it.
Rich Davis
One thing I've heard Covino, certain players say is my dream forever has been to be up there on stage and giving Goodell a hug. Because that means they made it to the NFL.
Steve Covino
Yeah, it should be an honor. That's my point. And I feel like you're snubbing the honor. I know that's not the intention. The intention here is to spend it with your family. But here's what I have to say to that. I get it. Family's everything. And they got you to this point. Without their support, you'd be nothing. And you want to share that with them. But guess what? How about you go up there and receive this honor and then you celebrate with your family.
Dan Byer
You could bring your mom.
Steve Covino
How about you could do both. How about you could go up there and do your thing and you could slap Goodell in the ass if you want and put the hat on and show your style and then leave and go party with your family? You know, no one's saying you can't party with your family. So for me, I just feel like you're being lazy about it and you're just choosing not to go.
Dan Byer
Nothing, nothing makes me smile more than on draft night when some of these moms who, you know, sacrifice so much for their kids and they see their son get drafted. It's a beautiful moment. And what's even a more beautiful moment is when some of those moms push away the scandalous girl that's hanging with their son. Like, this is not your moment.
Steve Covino
And I think you regret it, too. Man, how many people pass on big moments like, I mean, I know he didn't pass on it. But you always hear how Dwight Gooden didn't make the parade, Right? And just you live with that the rest of your life.
Dan Byer
There are so many New York Mets in 86 that were drugged out and allegedly drugged.
Steve Covino
Who didn't go to his graduation. Rich, didn't you not walk? That's such a weird thing.
Dan Byer
I don't regret it, though.
Steve Covino
Yeah, but I think you should, like, you accomplish something and you don't show up. To me, that's just. Well, then what was the point?
Dan Byer
My program director told me.
Steve Covino
He told you he doesn't make it, right?
Dan Byer
No, but it stuck in my head. He goes, you went to college to get a great job, right?
Steve Covino
I go, yeah, yeah. That's all him manipulating you.
Dan Byer
He said, you're on the air in New York City. You got the best job. What are you going to do? Do you need to go back? And I go, you know, I don't really feel like it.
Steve Covino
I think he just got in your head. I think that's a weak choice. I think you walk proudly and make your family, but you do it for your family, man. They want to see you succeed. They want to see you walk.
Dan Byer
You know, they wouldn't have went.
Steve Covino
Some. Some people don't walk. Some people don't go to their graduation. Some people don't show up to retrieve their award. For me, this is an honor that I think he'll regret missing out on because he could still party with his family. Don't give me the family stuff. And it's a lame ass. Look where you sit there with your jean shorts on like Brett Favre. Everyone's gonna criticize this stupid couch you're sitting on. They're like, that's the couch they have.
Rich Davis
And we all get to judge their girlfriend or wife sitting next to them in the relationship between the mom, of course.
Steve Covino
Yeah, you're putting your family in an awkward spot, too. Cause they're all sitting there in their Crocs.
Rich Davis
The famous picture, of course, with Russell Wilson in his first.
Steve Covino
Yes.
Rich Davis
And that cringy face, his girlfriend's.
Dan Byer
And I always remember CD Lamb. Remember, his girlfriend at the time was, like, looking at his phone and stuff. And you're like, oh, this is. This is over.
Rich Davis
In. In defense of Russell Wilson. It was his wife.
Steve Covino
It was his wife. Yeah, it was.
Rich Davis
I said his first.
Steve Covino
We always say that. I know it's his wife, but, you know, what do you do? You're looking at their decor and you're like, oh, they must shop at Ashley Furniture. Like, it. It's awkward. I don't like that. Go there and leave it up.
Dan Byer
I that was the only, the only benefit of the 2020 or 21 draft during COVID was I love getting a glimpse inside every coach's house at every draft. These house. I thought that was sort of cool. So here I am saying, you know, there's a little something fun about each.
Steve Covino
Got the camera in the living room. So funny. So I think it's an honor. I think, I think you go, Rich. I do. I think you go. But it seems to be more of a popular thing to not go.
Dan Byer
I gotta ask you legitimately, because apparently.
Steve Covino
There'S a bunch of names on the not attending list.
Dan Byer
I am a huge NFL fan. In fact, my favorite sport. Love talking about it more than anything here on Fox Sports Radio. And I know we got the first round coverage during our special dollar shave club is sponsoring that. And on Thursday night after the first round, is it nerdy to watch?
Steve Covino
I mean, just keep it on the background.
Dan Byer
Meaning like I, I, if there's a player left on the board, there's intrigue to be like, ooh, they slipped. When are they gonna go? But I feel like after round one.
Rich Davis
No, day two is fun, Rich. I, I think it's when you get to the sixth, seventh round and I'm still getting text messages from my older brother saying, see who they got in the six.
Dan Byer
But I'm a Niners fan. But if you tell me the niners in the second round or third round with the, the pick, you know, 87 took and it's a guy I don't know. So I'm just going, oh, here's the.
Steve Covino
Thing with me personally, I can't really get into other programming or like Black Mirror or White Lotus or whatever show until the sun is down. Anyway, I really can't, I can't focus on a show vampire. I just can't get into that zone or into that mood. It's like sexy time. I can't get into that mood. And the sun's still out.
Dan Byer
Wait, you only get on with your girl during the night?
Steve Covino
I'm just saying I'm not in that vine. Right. Respectfully. So like, to have that on in the background is perfectly fine. You don't have to be glued to that.
Rich Davis
DB I do think that the draft changes and obviously the schedule has changed because for years it was a two day event, Saturday and Sunday and the first, second and third rounds would be on the first day and then they'd have the rest of it. But I do think like the first two days, the Thursday and Friday are really about the players and the teams. And then I feel like, like 4 through 7 are more about names in college that you kind of knew and guys that could be going unique places and different stories. And then looking back on the first three rounds, that's kind of how the coverage ends up going, because it isn't pick for pick. They're not. They're just putting up graphics of people who are picked in the sixth and seventh round at that point. But hey, it's a different vibe.
Dan Byer
It's also just great indicator that, hey, before you know it, a new football season will begin. Baseball's in full swing, NBA playoffs in full swing. And it's crazy to think by next week, by Thursday, does Aaron Rodgers have to make a decision? It's my daily. Aaron Rodgers mentioned. Mentioned. Danny, you could hit me later. By next week.
Steve Covino
Yes. No, no. He's just straight up being disrespectful at that point. Yeah, you got to.
Rich Davis
You know what else is fun to piggyback off of what DB was saying on the weekend. You get a lot of former players of the team coming up to read the pick and a lot of them smack talk. So they're going to be Green Bay. Right. So you're going to get a cowboy up there talking smack about how the Cowboys run the world and all that in all the booing and the back and forth. That's fun. I like when the X players mix it up with the crowd. Do you guys remember this moment?
Dan Byer
J, E T E. Jets.
Rich Davis
That was from the draft. Yep. I love that misspelling Jets.
Dan Byer
They've done that with Eagles. Jets. Any other fans or personnel or mayors, Mispronounced, misspelled teams.
Steve Covino
Not that I remember. But yeah, it's a fun atmosphere. So I say you gotta go. That's my side of it. And, you know, good luck and congrats to Jackson, Dart and everybody else. Cove.
Dan Byer
I pointed it out, pointed it out when we filled in for Dan Patrick earlier this week. I would say the NL NFL draft is top three things in our lifetime that have evolved to something completely different. And the top three, and if you think we're missing one top three, if you, if you're a kid of the 80s and 90s, let's say you're roughly 40ish years old in our lifetime. Top three, the NFL draft, which went from a bunch of people in a boardroom with landlines with the, you know, 80s wood paneling, walls and cigars and cigarettes, like, yeah, who are you Taking the first round. Oh, who the Bears taken?
Steve Covino
It was like a Little League draft.
Dan Byer
Honestly, it looked like the Little League draft where a couple dads get together. It went from that to hundreds.
Steve Covino
Take Bob McMillan.
Dan Byer
Wait, he's. He's turning six or seven.
Steve Covino
He's seven, but his mom's hot. I got Bobby.
Dan Byer
Okay. That's how it was. And now you pick a city, it gives a little boom to the economy. Hundred thousand people go to check it out. Fans and lights and cameras go to Detroit.
Steve Covino
Like both days it was like 200,000.
Dan Byer
So top three things that have changed in our lifetime. I'll say. From 1980 until now, the magnitude of the NFL draft number two, mixed martial arts in any type of fighting. It went from like the backyard thing. Like people talked about, oh, like, well, like jujitsu or karate or something.
Steve Covino
And then you saw the whole sport evolve. Yeah, it was actually just different styles fighting, different styles. Now it's actually mixed martial arts in the octagon.
Rich Davis
You are under on that number, Covino. Detroit saw a record breaking 775,000 fans over the three day event.
Steve Covino
That's insane. Yeah, I mean it was oceans of people. We all remember that.
Dan Byer
And you know, the third being something that you're going to witness this weekend. It's not just one day anymore. It's a weekend. It's Wrestlemania weekend. When we were kids or your grandfather or dad would talk about wrestling, it was like old hairy dudes in singlets like Bruno San Martino. And now WrestleMania is going to be in Vegas. Multiple day event, billion dollar industry.
Steve Covino
Just the graphics alone.
Dan Byer
The graphics, the special effects, the pyro fireworks and everything. You're right.
Steve Covino
The atmosphere.
Dan Byer
So I think in our lifetime from 1980.
Steve Covino
And the announcer, way hotter than Finkel was.
Dan Byer
Oh, yeah, again that you, you don't like the Baldo look with the mustache coming down the aisle. But NFL draft, mixed martial arts and wrestling, top three things that have evolved in our lifetime. If you want to add to that list at Coveenon Rich. Now coming up, we're going to play a fun little game. Give away a prize if you want. In 87799 on Fox. Is it Steve Covino or Bill Belichick? We created this game because we realized Covino and Belichick, both grumpy guys that date younger women named Jordan.

The Golden State warriors once again are NBA champions.
Rich Davis
From the building of the corps that included Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to one of the boldest coaching decisions in the history of the sport.
Dan Byer
I just felt like the biggest thing.
Rich Davis
Was to earn the trust of the.
Dan Byer
Players and let the players know that we were here to try to help.
Rich Davis
Them take the next step, not tear anything down. Today, the warriors dynasty remains alive in large part because of a scrawny 6 foot 2 hooper, who everyone seems to love for what Steph has done for the game.
Steve Covino
He's certainly on that, like Mount Rushmore.
Dan Byer
For guys that have changed it.
Rich Davis
Come revisit this. Magical warriors ride. This is Dub Dynasty.
Dan Byer
The Dubs dynasty is still very much alive.
Rich Davis
Listen to Dub Dynasty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. On November 5, 2018 at 6:33am, a red Volkswagen Golf was found abandoned in a ditch out in Sleep Hole Valley. The driver's seat door was open. No traces of footsteps leaving, leaving the vehicle. No belongings were found, except for a cassette tape Lodged in the player on that tape were 10.
Dan Byer
Vile.
Rich Davis
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Grotesque. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Horrific stories that to this day have been kept restricted from the public until now. You feeling this too? A horror anthology podcast. Listen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Are your ears bored? Yeah. Are you looking for a new podcast that will make you laugh, learn and say G. Yeah. Then tune in to locatora radio season 10 today. Okay. I'm Diosa. I'm Mala, the host of Locatora Radio, a radiophonic novella, which is just a very extra way of saying a podcast. We're launching this season with a mini series, totally nostalgic, a four part series about the Latinos who shaped pop culture in the early 2000s. It's Lala checking in with all things Y2K 2000s. My favorite memory, honestly, was us having our own media platforms like Mundos and MTB3. You could turn on the TV, you see Thalia, you see JLo, Nina, Sky, Evie Queen. All the girlies doing their things. All of the beauty reflected right back at us. It was everything. Tune in to locatora radio season 10. Now that's what I call a podcast. Listen to Locatora Radio Season 10 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Dan Byer
All right, let's do this. Let's play a game. Let's try it. Come on.
Rich Davis
Steve Covino and Bill Belichick have some things in common.
Steve Covino
Bill Belichick's the man.
Dan Byer
They both have younger girlfriends named Jordan.
Steve Covino
If that was my daughter.
Rich Davis
They both have a powerful presence in the sports world. Work harder so you can do that when you're 72. You tell us, is it Steve Kavina or Bill Belichick?
Steve Covino
I'm not mad at him at all. I want to know what it is.
Dan Byer
I'm telling you, Danny, this Game's getting more confusing because I don't know if you know, this Camino now makes us CC his girlfriend on all our emails.
Steve Covino
Yeah, I bring her to work with me sometimes, too.
Rich Davis
Yeah. And happy birthday to Bill. A couple days ago, he turned big seven three.
Steve Covino
Jesus.
Rich Davis
So that means he's only five years older than Steve Covino.
Dan Byer
Is that odd to some people when they realize, like, my dad's 73. I don't look at my dad and Bill Belichick as, like, would they be friends?
Rich Davis
All right, let's meet our contestant on the studio line. He's looking to win a CNR stainless steel Swiggy. And then I'll quickly explain the game. Mark in Carson City, Nevada.
Dan Byer
What's up, Mark?
Rich Davis
Hey, hey, hey, Mark. What do you do for a living there? I am a instacart delivery driver.
Dan Byer
Nice, man.
Rich Davis
All right.
Dan Byer
Keep us on while you're driving around.
Rich Davis
Appreciate that, man. Yep. Mark, here is how Covino or Belichick works. I've done extensive research on Coach and Covino and their young girlfriends. They're basically the same guy. Each member of the crew is going to read a fun fact, and then you got to tell us, is it Steve Covino or Bill Belichick? You have five chances to get two correct. All righty. You ready? Yep. All right. Rich is going to read the first fun fact.
Dan Byer
Okay. This guy, whether it's Covino or Belichick. Belichick has talked about his love for NFL films. This guy's talked about his love for NFL films. Who is it, Covino or Belichick?
Rich Davis
Gavino.
Dan Byer
No, Bill Belichick.
Rich Davis
That was Billy.
Steve Covino
Yeah. I mean, I love NFL films. I never talked about it.
Rich Davis
Okay. All right. It's okay. You still got four chances to get two correct, and Dan Byer is going to race. Read DB Go read the second fun fact. Gavino or Belichick? He was seen on the TV show Hell's Kitchen. Oh.
Steve Covino
Oh, that's easy.
Rich Davis
Belichick.
Steve Covino
No, it was. It was a lifetime ago with my ex, but they did show me. I even had a line on Hell's Kitchen. Oh, what was your line? It was tastes like a work boot. Someone made something, and it was horrible, but they kept showing me at the table.
Dan Byer
Tastes like a work.
Rich Davis
Tastes like a work.
Steve Covino
Yeah. So I was. I was actually.
Dan Byer
Had dinner.
Rich Davis
You ordered your meat well done.
Steve Covino
I had dinner at Hell's Kitchen, man. Yeah.
Rich Davis
All right, Mark. It's all right. But the pressure's on a little bit. You have. You got to get two out of these Next three. Okay, Spot has the third. Fun fact.
Steve Covino
This is a tricky one.
Rich Davis
All right, his Jordan dressed up as a mermaid for Halloween 2024. Is it Covino or Belichick? Oh, my God.
Dan Byer
Let's go.
Rich Davis
Belichick. Yeah.
Dan Byer
Yes.
Steve Covino
He's on the board.
Rich Davis
And I confirmed his. Actually, Camino's girlfriend didn't dress up as anything for.
Steve Covino
Yeah, but it was a trick question because I dressed up as a merman.
Rich Davis
All right, so halfway to a Swiggy, Iowa, Sam has the fourth fun. All right. Iowa. L. Yeah. Samuel L. Johnson.
Dan Byer
Sam is very confused.
Rich Davis
So nervous, frazzled. I had to clear my throat there. All right, he. He refuses to play the game Jenga. He refuses to play the game Jenga. Covino or Belichick?
Dan Byer
That's a good one.
Rich Davis
I want to say one, but I love Gavino.
Steve Covino
Yes, that's correct, dude. Yeah, it's just a thing. And thank you. Let me explain. People bust out these corny games at a party. That's the end of the party. I don't want to play this nonsense. Get out of here. What am I, a college kid?
Rich Davis
Candy land into it?
Steve Covino
No, I'm not into Giant Jenga. Giant?
Dan Byer
You're in a bar that has, like, the Giant Jenga.
Steve Covino
The fun's over. At that point, I was having fun talking and hanging out, and you busted out stupid games.
Rich Davis
He equally hates Giant Connect Four. If you.
Steve Covino
And then it topples over, everybody laughs at you. That's a stupid game. Get out of here.
Dan Byer
How insecure are you that you'd be mad about losing Jenga?
Steve Covino
You know what? It all worked out. You got it right. I don't play Jenga, man. I don't Jenga.
Rich Davis
Back against the wall. Didn't matter. Mark walks away with a CNR Swiggy in Carson City.
Steve Covino
I was nervous for Mark for a minute. He pulled that off.
Rich Davis
Congratulations, buddy. We're going to mail out a CNR Swiggy to you. All righty.
Steve Covino
And now it's time for Weekend Hobnob and Cavino and Rich.
Dan Byer
Let's go live in for the weekend.
Rich Davis
You're winning bets for talking points.
Steve Covino
If you get stuck socializing.
Dan Byer
You ever done anything dangerous?
Rich Davis
You ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight? That is dangerous.
Dan Byer
Friday brings us Weekend Hobnobby.
Steve Covino
All right, so this is what you need to watch in the world of sports and entertainment, apparently, you gotta watch this Will Ferrell Camaro commercial.
Dan Byer
Wait for it.
Steve Covino
Wait for it. In a bathtub. So do I have to be in a bathtub, or is he in a bath.
Dan Byer
I think they want you also in a bath. Well, that's why I'm confused with Will Ferrell.
Rich Davis
I'm like, but I don't take baths while you're watching.
Steve Covino
Well, in the world of sports and entertainment, here's what you need to know so that you know what's going on come Monday.
Rich Davis
Right?
Steve Covino
It's a holiday weekend. Happy Easter. You got to make time for some of this. Happy Passover. I gotta finish Black Mirror. It's been out for a few minutes, but here's what I've learned so far. Black Mirror is available on Netflix. It's like the modern day Twilight Zone. Black Mirror meaning like your phone technology. How technology gets in the way of our lives.
Dan Byer
I hear it's like, dark and creepy. I'm like, hesitant to watch.
Steve Covino
Always dark and creepy.
Dan Byer
Yeah, but more so than ever.
Steve Covino
But it's season seven. Here's my advice. Skip episode three because I. That's where I stopped. And I can't get through it because it's so boring. So I hear it's great. One and two are great. Skip three and then continue on with four. Black Mirror. Ryan Coogler's the Sinners comes out this weekend and they're saying it's gonna rival Minecraft. They're wondering, is it gonna be number one in the theaters this weekend?
Dan Byer
Yeah, it's that. It's that. Or like, is that Minecraft? That's Michael B. Jordan and Mrs. Josh Allen. Soon enough. Haley Steinfeld.
Steve Covino
Yeah, but Coogler's teaming up. Coogler's known for directing Black Panther and Creed. This time, the Sinners reunited with Michael B. Jordan again. So the Sinners weekend is bound to be a big one. What's up, Sam?
Rich Davis
Sorry to get you guys off topic for weekend plans, but have you guys seen the trailer for 28 Years Later? Yes. Holy cow. That looks amazing. It's a great franchise. I never. I never saw the first two.
Steve Covino
I'm starting to see a lot of.
Dan Byer
Ads for that, so.
Rich Davis
Good.
Dan Byer
Well, you got some time now, Sam. Go back. Go. You know, use this weekend to go back and watch the first couple.
Rich Davis
I could, but I feel like I could watch 28 years later. It's just standalone.
Steve Covino
It'd be fantastic.
Rich Davis
But it looks really good.
Steve Covino
Anyway, you gotta check out our latest installment of Over Promise. That's our bonus show, but it's a show you could watch and enjoy. Over Promised debuted yesterday, episode 88. We talked about the best athletes of our lifetime, of our life. Current Day.
Dan Byer
Yep.
Steve Covino
A la Travis Hunter. Who wants to Play both sides of the ball. Best athletes. We talk baseball cards and some of the greatest polls in the world of baseball cards.
Dan Byer
Actually basketball cards as well.
Steve Covino
Basketball cards to be precise and friendly wagers. And how they make sports more interesting. Over promised episode 88.
Dan Byer
I would recommend throwing it on YouTube on your smart TV watching us all big screen style.
Steve Covino
That's unfortunate. Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. Thanks again for checking that out. And let's go Yankees. They take on the Rays this weekend. I'll be watching that.
Dan Byer
You guys recommended it and you were so right. I was hesitant to watch Love on the Spectrum because I thought might be a little too emotional. I didn't want to get all emotionally caught up. I'm like, my nephew is on the Spectrum. I watch this. It is the most lovable, sweet show I've seen in, in years.
Steve Covino
These kids are rock stars.
Dan Byer
Tanner and Connor. Honestly, Danny G. It's done so well.
Steve Covino
If you're skip out on James, man, that guy's funny.
Dan Byer
Oh, and James. So yeah, Love on the Spectrum, fantastic. Like you said, Black Mirror. If you're not hesitant, if you're a Guy Ritchie fan, he has a new documentary. I know you're a documentary guy. It's called the Diamond Heist based on a true story about people doing some robberies. So if that's your steez, the Diamond Heist trending on Netflix. And the Life list, a movie also on Netflix with Sophia Carson I think is worth watching. And my kids are really into Sonic right now. And you can now stream the third one on Pico. So Sonic 3. So that's going to be exciting. And Danny G. I know you got all the times for the NBA games. I think the the one to keep your eye on obviously besides the LA teams. Sunday 6:30 out here on the west side. That's the Warriors Rockets game.
Rich Davis
Can't wait. I know. I think it was Spot that brought this up last week. John Ham's new series on Apple tv, your Friends and Neighbors. So damn good. In fact I was looking here at different articles. Movie web says they think it's Jon Hamm's best role since Mad Men. Getting a lot of good reviews.
Dan Byer
So is it like season one? It's really good.
Rich Davis
It just started.
Dan Byer
Yeah, I'll give it a shot.
Rich Davis
Martin's here and he loves John Hamm because he's posting social media posts about John Hammer. So he's really enthusiastic.
Dan Byer
I believe Martin more than you guys. So yeah, thanks Martin.
Rich Davis
So we're about to tip off in Atlanta. Miami at the Hawks and we got the Mavericks at the Memphis Grizzlies. That's the end of the play in tournament and Saturday's the big game. The Bucs at the Pacers, the Clippers at the Nuggies, the Pistons at the Knicks, and the Wolves, as we call them, the Wolves at the Lakers.
Steve Covino
Yeah, so, yeah, lots of great NBA this weekend.
Dan Byer
I'll make sure to text you, Danny. Go Lakers. And then text our boss, Go T Wolves.
Rich Davis
I know you will do that.
Dan Byer
Play. Play both sides.
Steve Covino
You know what else I'm going to be eyeing up this weekend? All weekend. Those Cadbury Crack eggs. Those candy coated eggs of crack that you can't resist. You know those new ones? Not those gooey ones we grew up with?
Rich Davis
No, no, no.
Steve Covino
Yeah, those, those. Yeah, those mini ones. I'll be staring at those all weekend just trying to resist them. Like M M's. Like to the tenth power. Anything else before we go?
Rich Davis
Num Movie. I mean, if you're a fan of Yellowstone, Ransom Canyon.
Steve Covino
It's kind of like that same vibe.
Rich Davis
But it stars Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly. Want some handsome and some hotness? Check that out.
Steve Covino
There you go. Well, happy holidays, Happy Passover. Happy Easter, everybody.
Dan Byer
And we'll see you guys back here on Monday. Arriba. Dare you, baby.
Steve Covino
See you in the promised land.
Dan Byer
Goodbye.
Rich Davis
Today's Friday.
