Supposed to be doing, blending the fun of life in with sports. Now you and I always say that we have passion for a few things in life and you love to say you love sports. A nice heinie and music.

I would have said sports. I would have said sports until I discovered women as, like, a preteen. I love Gary Carter. Until I put my Cindy Crawford poster up.

But women, sports, entertainment. This is sort of what got Camino and I to become friends.

I saw someone on social media call Covino out, and they thought he was insulting him. And I think it was a compliment. Someone said, covino, that guy has no maturity. He acts like a stupid teenager. And Kavino's probably like, thank you.

He said something like, he has the immaturity of a sixth grader. And I was like, thanks.

Better than fifth grade.

I was like, stevie passed the third grade. Oh, what a glorious day. He barely passed third grade.

I bring that up because what do we care about? It makes sense. There's two stories in the news that have to do with booty, and I'm gonna tie it into sports. And you say, rich, how do you do it? And I'll tell you, genius behavior is how I do it. It's, you know, it's what I'm made from. We talked a lot about how the Yankees finally have accepted the fact that it's 2025 and young men want to have some freedom in the facial hair department. And it went over well. The team discussed it, former players personnel, Hal Steinbrenner. And they made this big decision, and everyone, for the most part, was like, no Yankees. Great move.

[Steve Covino]

Can I just say this, though? It was because there was a compromise, and not everybody got into that side of the story. I saw a lot of Photoshops and people at Hobo Grizzly beards. They said very specifically, well groomed beards. So I like that.

[Rich Davis]

And it was an adjusted rule because the reality is they said well groomed mustaches back then because it was the 70s when they made this rule. Right when your dad was at Studio 54.

[Steve Covino]

Yep, 50 years ago with his platform shoes. Okay, so it's 2025. I know where you're going.

[Rich Davis]

Yankees make the adjustment. We all make adjustments. There's two stories. One about a flight attendant who got fired from Alaska Air because on social media she was seen doing the slightest little fun, cute twerking dance. And now There's a cop, a female detective, nypd, that might get fired because in her spare time, she was part of a rap video where she's shaking that booty. And I gotta say, would you say for the first one, buckle your seat, it's ready for takeoff?

I don't think you're ready about this jelly.

These women weren't showing every now only fans.

Well, that detective in the rap video, she's kind of showing everything.

How about we don't abandon something called class And a little bit dignity and the fact that you do represent companies and you should carry yourself in such a way, like, if you're representing the nypd, don't be showing your ass in your spare time. I don't think that is a good look, and it's probably embarrassing to their kids in the future. Look, there's a lot of things not to sound like a hypocrite, things that I've done in radio that I'm embarrassed of because I'm a dad of a teenage daughter.

Yeah. But again, this is in my early 20s. It was almost encouraged because I'm a radio personnel. Yes, the stuff we did. But if you're a cop and you're doing those things and it's sort of a bad look to that department, I think you're always representing a company. Just because things are progressing Rich, doesn't mean you throw all of your pride and dignity in your class out the window, man. I. Look, I'm a. I'm a dad of a teenage daughter, so I'm always policing what she's putting out there, too. Like, would you be okay if your daughter was showing her ass, if she was a professional at the same time on that level in a video like that? Danny G. Already said it. Fully exposed, dude. Full on cheeks. So that's a little much. There's a sliding scale. One story is. And I gotta see it, but you're really downplaying. She just shaking a little bit, having fun. I'm okay with that. This other girl who's in the news today in New York, that's a little risque. Should she be fired? I don't want to see anybody be fired. But I could see some sort of penalty, some sort of warning. You know, we could learn from this and say, hey, maybe you should cut back on that because we want you to carry yourself at a certain standard. That's not wrong to ask when people.

Are paying you a warning or some guidelines is one.

That's fine. I don't want to see anybody get fired.

I think there's a big difference between twerking and dancing and, you know, goofing around or even being sexual is way different than. Way different than if you said, you know, your kids, second grade teachers on OnlyFans, that I don't think we could be doing that.

Yeah, And Cove. I was reading prior to her in 2022, Liz Cambidge. She was a WNBA All Star until she retired in 2022. She joined OnlyFans right after she retired and reportedly made more in her first week there on of than she earned in her entire WNBA career.

And then your wife finds out and you're like, I'm just supporting her.

And I don't think if you're working for a company or playing for a team, you should have the right to do that while they're paying you. I'm sure it's in their contracts. And, you know, if that's what they want to do, go right ahead. But you're not playing for our team because there's kids involved, dude. There's kids and young fans and families. It just doesn't go hand in hand, I don't think. You know, like I said, I know you're thinking anything goes because it's 20, 25 and you're so progressive.

Imansi, put aside Luca and LeBron for a second. So we all know the sad passing. You know, lived a great life. 90 something years old, Gene Hackman and his wife were found dead in the house. Apparently the coroner's office and the authorities are now saying his wife passed away on February 11 from a disease.

Like a rodent disease, like some type of infection, some sort of disease that rodents carry.

[Rich Davis]

And then he passed away from what they think could be a combination of something Alzheimer's related and heart disease. And Alzheimer's, they can't tell if it's a heart attack, but sort of saying.

Heart attack without saying, yeah, we had heard medical emergency.

Yeah.

So but on February 18, which insinuates he lived with Alzheimer's, which is so sad, right in that house for a week with his wife laying dead there.

Very sad, weird story. But yeah, Gene Hackman apparently this time died seven days after his wife, which means for a week she was just there and he was. That's terrible.

Sports is the best reality tv that.

Is, let me tell you. There was. There was an OKC Cleveland. Cleveland game earlier in the year that was, you know, the two best teams and they battled. But last night it felt like a playoff environment because I had come from the barbershop when my barber had the ambian. We watched the lamest Sixers, Celtics game.

[Danny G]

I don't even know why that was on.

[Rich Davis]

It was in the second half. I was like, are the Sixers playing? Do they. There's a game going on.

[Steve Covino]

But to be fair, that's how most games Feel. Not all games feel like that Knicks.

[Danny G]

Lakers game last year, but the Sixers Celtics game, like nobody was playing. It was Jason Tatum and that's it.

[Steve Covino]

No, I get it. And it was not memorable. And put up some big numbers. It was boring, but still, that's how I feel watching most games up until a certain point in the season. And the Knicks, Lakers really turned it on because it was a good high stakes game and a statement game of where these teams really are. And that's why there was intrigue there. And that's why both teams came out wanting to prove that they're legit.

[Rich Davis]

When you look into some of these players eyes, you know, through the TV screen, I'm looking at you, Jalen Brunson. No, but there are guys that play. You could, you could see they're playing with a playoff level intensity. And I think I texted Danny, he goes, don't forget Lakers, Knicks. I go, this is a really good test for both of these teams. And they both probably felt that way, like, all right, this is a great barometer of where we are. With the playoffs approaching shortly, let me tell you, what a freaking game. And Luca and LeBron, I, you know, when you gain a confidence, you know when a baseball player is so hot, they say, they say it looks like the ball's a beach ball coming in. They must feel like, I don't know if anyone could beat us.

[Steve Covino]

It's also LeBron 100% trusting his teammates. I think it's, it's not the first.

[Monsi Belano]

Time, but, but I've never seen him defer to this level.

[Steve Covino]

Okay, so. Exactly. Right. So he totally defers because he knows Luca can handle it. And I think that's what we're seeing here and why it's magical.

And you saw that with Gay Vincent hitting a key shot yesterday. You know, Danny G's believing in his boy Hayes now and you were talking about him, Danny G, I didn't believe you. But what's the minute thing you're saying? When he plays more than 20 minutes, they're good.

The Lakers are now 13 and 1 when Jackson Hayes has been in the lineup for 20 minutes or longer.

And we were saying, you only need a big guy. Danny, to the. Nah, man. They got Jackson Hayes.

He's good. AD Was really impatient with Hayes's development because obviously Anthony Davis does not like to play the center position.

Yeah. And so when the Lakers wanted him to play the center position, he's like, no, no, no, no. Either trade for. And he said out loud, we need to trade for a center. And Jackson Hayes was over here like, dude, I'm on the team. So now with Jackson, Hayes has stepped up, stepped up.

Eight points. But Luka, 32 points. LeBron, 31 points. Just shelling again. A game that goes to overtime like that, that was so fun to see last night.

[Rich Davis]

But even, like I said, Jalen Brunson, you know, he was trying so hard to even finish out that game. His. And that wasn't some BS Wimpy injury. His ankle rolled all the way. Have you.

Have you ever seen an ankle go all the way to the floor like that?

And he got up, hit the free throws, and he wanted to stay. You could see he so badly was trying to walk it. I. The trainer went to rub it. You saw him like, don't even touch it.

Yeah, I mean, he did walk off. They did show him walking, so that was a good sign. But, no, he rolled it on all kinds of ways.

Yeah, but major, major win last night for the Lakers. You're seeing them again gel at just the right time. It's exciting. Not all games that exciting, but it's nice to see. And then the other side story is the whole confrontation.

He looked at me as a father.

Not as a player, as a father. And I understand.

I mean, the fact that that's a story, like. I get it. I mean, Stephen A. If you don't know what we're talking about, was confronted by LeBron, caught off.

Guard, said, if you could do your best, John Boy. It was something along the lines of, leave my son out of this. S. As if there's to say that, you know, if you're going to take shots at me, don't bring my son into this. But I'm very surprised that Stephen A. Didn't say. As a broadcaster and as a guy who covers the NBA, it's my job. It's his job to cover anyone in the NBA. Maybe he went a little too far. That's up for debate. But I think he has every right to have an opinion on a man, a young man, but still a man that's on the Lakers. So, you know, LeBron bullying him around a little bit, but luckily, Stephen A. Had Larry David as a backup muscle.

But I think LeBron, you know, it is like, listen, I got two little kids. You're a dad. Danny G. You're a dad. When. When someone talks about your kids, it's it. You know, you get all twisted because you lose all sense. Right? And I think it's the one spot where. You know how a lot of times when you watch, like, a movie about, like, you know, like, FBI agents and all murder, their weak spot is like, if you know their family, if you get to their family, that's their weak spot.

Yeah, but it's not personal criticisms. These are basketball criticisms. That's the difference.

[Rich Davis]

You know, it's. I know it's basketball criticism, but when someone talks about your kid, like, if someone. If someone told me my kid stunk at Little League, I'd be like, yeah, that's great, but now I hate you.

But again, you know, he brought his son into the league.

There's so much to it that I don't think it's like a normal. You guys speaking about. About your kids in Little League. It is not the same.

It would be like if my son one day worked for, you know, Fox Sports Radio here, and people like Rich Davis's son not very good on the mic. And like, I was like, stephen A. What did you say?

Like, and at the same time, you got Charles Barkley criticizing Stephen A. And, like, there's a lot of drama going on in the NBA right now. And Kendrick Perkins, as far as.

As far as LeBron, you know, step into Stephen A. Remember the one incident on live TV that morning where Stephen A. Was really going in hard on LeBron, almost like calling him a bad parent.

That's what I'm saying. He blurs the line.

As a father, stop this. Yeah, he does. He.

Then this morning, he's like. Or things he. LeBron thought I said. No, no, you said it.

Yeah. He was gaslighting LeBron. So that was unfortunately the other story here when we should be talking about, man, LeBron and Luca, which we did. But we have to acknowledge that there was that drama. All social media today that went super viral because you saw LeBron step out of basketball player. He wasn't defending his teammate. He was protecting his son. And I get that. But you also have to understand that journalists. And I use air quotes. Journalists have to do their job.

I just. It feels genuinely, like, weirdly personal between these two. On top of it, too, which. Which makes it like, because, yeah, it is. It is a guy's son and whatever. But it's. Some of the criticisms of Bronny James feel like it's going even further than it should just because it's LeBron James son. And thus you have to crank it up to 11 to get the reactions, too. And that's maybe fueling LeBron's like. We've seen him start to take shots at media figures he hasn't usually taken before. That's a little embarrassing ranking. No, it is embarrassing because you're a.

Man at a certain point.

And Bronny has to be his own man, and he's at the workplace and he's doing his best, and everybody likes Bronnie. But, I mean, no matter what it is you do, you might garner criticism. You could own a restaurant, and you get a bad Yelp review.

Do you want your parents to come in there and defend you? I wonder how that.

How Bronnie feels about that, too, because. Exactly that. Like, he's got to be like, I don't want my dad stepping in.

The year, like, these are all great things, but they're all because of Luca. Let's be real about that. You know, he was bringing out the best in everybody on this team.

Without a doubt, the Lakers were in a good spot. Now they're in a potential NBA Finals path. I'm so intrigued to see how the experience and veteran leadership of LeBron and Luka, together with the young. With the young key players we're seeing emerge. How does that match up against okc, a less experienced team? I mean, think about it. Last year, Luca went to the NBA Finals. LeBron's been there, you know, almost 10 times, right? We're talking about. We're talking about an experienced team versus one with not. But you would argue the inexperienced team is a. Is maybe a better team. So that's gonna. That's gonna really bring some fun to the Western Conference. And let's not forget, you still got the Nuggies and you still got Steph, who has been rejuvenated by Jimmy Bond.

Absolutely.

And did you see. Now listen, 99 out of 100 people, I'd say, oh, that S is lucky. But when he took that half court shot, I was like, no, that's skill. Yeah, he's like the one.

Yes. He's the one human where you're like, no, that wasn't lucky. In an odd way, it's like, no, that was Steph Curry.

But he just really turns it on when the game is on. I saw him. He's always making circus shots. I get it. But I saw him miss 10 three point shots in a row, warming up, and then he comes out and does stuff like that. So amazing to see. All right, so some great basketball guys.

It's the example to use with your kids. If your kids. I got little kids that are playing, you know, softball, baseball, all their little sports. When I teach them about how you need to practice, like, I'll throw my son five ground balls. And he's like, okay. I'm like, no, no, you want to get good by. We got to do 100 ground balls. Right? And I told my Kids, the other day I told the dad movie, I go, hey, look at this guy. Pulled up a Steph Curry highlight. I go, this guy shoots thousands of shots a week. He doesn't take five shots and then gets a roll up, right?

And he's not that big. Keep that in mind.
