Well, I'm not going to like it, right? So we got to discuss all things Juan Soto, at least from today.

[Covino]

First of all, when asked how his former players on the Yankees feel about this, has he talked to them? This is what he said.

[Rich Davis]

You've been in touch with anybody from your former team and could you share what those conversations might have been like?

[Danny G]

I haven't talked to any of those guys. We talked to them through playoff, at.

[Rich Davis]

The end of the playoffs. But after that I make these processes. I haven't talked to any of those.

[Covino]

What does that tell you?

[Danny G]

That tells me that he is a jo as it tells me.

[Covino]

Are you kidding me?

[Danny G]

No. Yankees reached out to him. There's. There's 30 of them. Including 30, 40, 50 including management and everybody else.

[Covino]

So why no one reached out to him?

[Danny G]

Because maybe he's an a hole. All of those people are wrong. Or maybe Soto is just not the guy. I think we're seeing a little problem with the Mets because you got here's.

[Covino]

What'S made what makes crybaby antics have no end. Now he's a Jo and a jerk and an a hole.

[Danny G]

The Yankees gotta be wrong here. Not maybe Juan Soto. What made the Mets special last year. And I'll be the first to tell you, they were a special squad. I enjoyed watching them, their magical moments, the OMG Timmy trumpets, the camaraderie, the chemistry. It Was all there. Lindor and. And Polar Bear Pete coming through.

[Covino]

Now you know what they're saying now. They traveled. Polar Express might be coming to Queens before Christmas.

[Danny G]

They traveled together, they partied together, they went to dinners together. They did everything together. They won together. In my opinion, Juan Soto is already trying to separate himself as the. As the guy. To me, that's not going to gel with the Mets and what they're all about. He's got his own personal suites. This guy is making almost a billion dollars. To me, that's not saying he's part of the team. To me, he wants to be the superstar. He wants to be the guy whose butt is kissed. He wants to be the guy who gets his feet rubbed by Steve Cohen. To me, he is separating himself from what was once a really great chemistry. And hey, if he was such a great team guy, no Yankees reached out to him. How do you not see that shows.

[Covino]

What the Yankees are made of?

[Danny G]

No, how do you not see what I'm saying? If he was such a great guy, no Yankees, not even like Glabor Torres. None of the Latino guys that you say he so desperately wanted to play with with the Mets. None of the Latino guys from the Yankees reached out. No Oswaldo Cabrera, no Aaron Judge. They had their little special handshakes. None of those guys.

[Covino]

What you're doing is typical. Dude, you're talking out of both sides of your mouth.

[Danny G]

No, I'm not on one side.

[Covino]

You know what you're saying? Oh, Soto left simply for the money. And I said, maybe he didn't really click with the Yankees and maybe he was looking for somewhere that he felt he fit in more. Now, if that's the answer, maybe he.

[Danny G]

Was right the wrong way.

[Covino]

Oh, he's a bad guy. Yeah. If the Yankees signed him, would he be a bad guy? I said, hey, is Max free to turn code? Is Max free to bad guys? No.

[Danny G]

As the story develops, I'm starting to see maybe the real character of this dude.

[Covino]

That's amazing.

[Danny G]

No, the guy that was just chasing the money all along. So this is part of the story today, guys. No Yankees have reached out to him. What does that say to you? It also says to me that they felt a little betrayed and a little backstabbed.

[Covino]

I haven't heard one current player say that Juan Soto is a bad teammate. So you are purely talking out of jealous speculation.

[Danny G]

Well, it's going to be speculation nonetheless, because one player, you have to speculate, why hasn't anybody reached out to him?

[Covino]

Has one player?

[Danny G]

If people Move on. If people move on from your work, your place of work and people have, don't you wish them the best? The ones that I don't are people I didn't like. So maybe he wasn't the greatest teammate after all. I don't know. I mean, he's also the guy that's always, that's already throwing demands around.

[Covino]

No, he. Because he was a free agent and he said what he wanted. How is that throwing demands?

[Danny G]

Get yours. Go for, you know, as much as you can. But it's not like the Yankees didn't give him a solid offer. So anyway, that's story number one and Fox Sports Radio Nation. Danny G. Sam, your thoughts as well. 877-99-FOX. Not one Yankees teammate. And there's a lot of Yankees that are on the fence. Glabor, Torres, Nestor Cortez, a lot of players that are probably not going to come back. They didn't even reach out to him.

Well, let me ask you this, Danny, Iowa, Sam, two people have no tie to this Mets Yankees drama with.

[Rich Davis]

That's not true. I'm Big Apple Sam. I mean, you know what, I'm ecstatic about this signing. Okay.

You are Big Apple, Sam. Danny G. You're a Dodgers guy. You don't give a Funk or Wagner. You don't care.

A terrible Terry Funk.

Have you heard anyone from the Nationals, the Padres, anyone that's ever played with Soto say that he's not a team guy?

[Danny G]

I mean, he sounds like a selfish player.

[Covino]

Dude, for what reason? He went after what he is, Ohtani, a selfish player.

[Danny G]

I mean, he's bounced around a few times, it seems to me, based on everything he said, even during the season when they would ask him, hey, what are your chances on coming back to the Yankees? Like, he basically always implied that whoever paid him the most is where he was going.

[Covino]

So starts as a National, wins a World Series, traded, traded. Now he's a free agent, signs with the team. The narrative doesn't match up to me.

[Rich Davis]

Do you think maybe Rich, his Yankee teammates just wanted to stay out of the mix while the negotiations were going on? That's probably between several teams. I think that might be a big part of it.

[Danny G]

Probably a big part of it. Like, hey, you know, it's an awkward situation maybe they were told not to discuss with him. You know, it's a, you know, you think that there's a lot that these people know and even Brian Cashman was saying today publicly, like they throw the offer out there and then they just wait around like they don't know. At the end of the day, the only one that knows everything. I'm sorry. In the beginning, middle, and end of the day, the only one that really knows the answers are Juan Soto and his agent.

[Rich Davis]

Yeah, but, Cove, if you were renegotiating with fsr, I would text you on the side.

[Danny G]

Like, that's what I'm saying.

Come on.

Like, because I'm a good guy.

So you say totals. Nothing.

I'm saying maybe there's more than meets the eye. He is all about himself. Well, you know we're going to talk about Mark Aston in a few minutes, right? There's a reason they're saying that he's not in the hall of Fame. He was a very selfish player. He was an all about me sort of guy. Maybe that's what Juan Soto is all about. I don't know, dude. You're asking me to speculate, but based on his decision making, I don't. It's not. It's easy for me to believe that.

I don't expect you to like this deal. You're a Yankees fan. That would be like any team losing a star player, pretending to be all pumped for them. You've said it to me on and off the air. What do you expect me to be, freaking psych? Trisodo? I don't. I expect you to be mad about this, like, f. This guy. I expect that. But for you to, like, so cavalierly say, well, he must be all about himself.

[Rich Davis]

Why?

[Covino]

Because he's a free agent that went after the deal?

[Danny G]

The answers in your question. How many players do you think are on the. The Yankees roster? Me, with the clubhouse people and personnel and all the people there, like 50 to 100 people that he probably dealt with daily. Right. Not one person reached out to him. That says more about him than it does the Yankees.

This is your most foolish speculation in the history of our show Together, all.

He had, he could reach out to somebody. None of those people reached out to him. None of them. Dude, if you moved forward and no one reached out to you to say, hey, man, good luck, who does that say more about?

But how do you not see this? It means it wasn't a great fit.

[Danny G]

It says more about you than it does everybody else. You're saying, in other words, Rich is saying everybody else is wrong. Everybody else ready? Let's put it in other words. If I leave this company and no one reaches out to me to say, hey, good luck, does it say more about me or everybody else?

It would imply that I'm a jerk because no one said goodbye or good luck.

I find it fascinating. Listen to what Juan Soto said, dude.

It's common sense. You're debating common sense here? You're saying, no, Every Yankee personnel is wrong. Juan Soto's right.

Some of them had no personal relationship with him. And the ones that did maybe said, I'm going to stay out of it. It's business. A lot of these guys in sports are like, hey, that's that guy's bag. That's his money. I don't want to.

I'll buy into that. That they were told or instructed or it's the etiquette to not do that, but I've never heard that before.

[Covino]

They're. They're are people that he is clearly close with. Francisco Lindor is one of them. I'm not saying that's the main reason, but why are you discounting. He just wanted a start with a team that he just felt more.

[Danny G]

That's also BS he wanted to be the guy. And, hey, props to him for that. He didn't want to play in Judge's shadow. Judge is a way better player than him.

[Covino]

Judge's shadow?

[Danny G]

Yeah. Judge's big Frankenstein shadow. He's a way better player than Soto. No doubt about that. On every level and every stat. And he didn't want to play where he was going to be the guy.

[Rich Davis]

Yeah. A lot of things have changed since then.

Yeah. So I'm supposed to have the same opinion of the guy as a. As a guy, as a player? He's great.

I listen. Hearing this, it's like, I feel like this player leaving the Yankees, going to the Mets is driving, like, a personal wedge between you two. It's almost a little alarming.

Well, it was a woman first. A woman comedian that was on our show.

Did Jagger host Jagger? Yeah, I'm having a little bit of a change of heart because my whole feeling is like Mark Gastineau is coming across as like a little bit of a crazy person and he's, you know, living in the past like, you know, Brett Favre, you, you stole my sack. I'm gonna kill you.

[Danny G]

Essentially, it's gone extremely viral. It debuts tomorrow. 30 for 30. The New York Sack Exchange. The story of, well, basically why Mark Gaston is not in the NFL hall of Fame and what he's all about right now.

[Covino]

I will say they've done a hell of a job promoting this via the social media clips because it sort of promoted itself because my interest level, if you would have told me a month ago, like, oh, yeah, there's going to be a mark Gaston. Oh, 30 for 30. New York sack exchange. I would have said maybe I'll get around to it. But now I'm like weekend watching, dude. I'm watching this tomorrow night. So Mark Gastineau. Another clip was released. Not the Brett Favre weird awkwardness. Another clip about how he's bitter about being the creator of the sack dance. I started the sack dance, and now.

[Danny G]

It'S okay, but then it wasn't.

[Rich Davis]

But how about if I did the same stuff now, what would it be now?

[Covino]

So why don't we get it through their heads, man?

[Danny G]

I have a different thought process.

[Covino]

You know what? I'll give you the weirdest analogy. And again, no one else is going to give you this analogy. On sports radio exclusive. You ever meet an older gay person and they could have two approaches to life? I was Sam's like, where is he going with this?

[Rich Davis]

Sure, I have. Yeah. You.

[Covino]

You meet an older neighbor, family member, someone who grew up gay in a time where they.

[Danny G]

It wasn't as exciting.

[Covino]

Were the recipient of a lot of hate, a lot of terrible, you know, language, and a lot of, you know, non acceptance. When they see the youngsters now embracing and showing love for people in the gay community openly, they could take two approaches. One approach is, I'm happy we've made so much progress. Good for them. Or they could be bitter that, well, when I was younger, my family disowned me and this and that, and they could be bitter about it. So you could be bitter about it, or be thankful that the younger generation doesn't have to deal with what you dealt with. That could work for racism, sexuality, a lot of things. And I think Mark Gastineau as a player, there's like, I didn't get paid as much. I couldn't celebrate. I could. He could either take the approach of.

[Danny G]

Like, a lot of sour grapes.

[Covino]

I'm hurt, I'm hurt, I'm hurt. Or he could say, I'm glad the game came a long way and I feel like he's leaning towards the prior.

[Danny G]

Or we could look at it this way, because the more I see the story develop again, your opinions develop as the story develops. The same with Juan Soto. I feel bad for him as I did previously, but now I'm starting to think maybe it was really irresponsible to have cameras on this guy in the first place. In 2016, New York jets defensive and Mark Gastineau was diagnosed with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease. Geez, is this fair to him, to his family, to be exploited or exposed in this way? However you want to look at it, I'm going to take the Joe Rogan approach, meaning where when Joe Rogan does interviews after a UFC fight, he says he tries to stay away from anybody that was just knocked out because it's not fair to that fighter. They just had their bell rung. They're not completely there and in that moment, it's unfair to that fighter. I'm not saying he's never done it, but he tries to. If the guy's, you know, with it and he's okay, he'll talk to him. But if the guy just got knocked down, he's like, no, I'm not going to do that to the guy. And I feel like maybe it's a little unfair to put this guy on this giant special when maybe he's just not all there.

[Covino]

And if that's the case, you know, I'm not saying maybe it's a great point cabino, but I feel like there's family and friends and people surrounding this project that would have stopped it had that been the sentiment.

[Danny G]

I mean, I don't know that. I don't know that your thoughts. Are you starting to sympathize? Do you think he's a jerk? What are your thoughts as these clips start to surface in promotion for the 30 for 30, which airs tomorrow.

[Covino]

Again, to. To make my analogy clear, when the world changes around you, you could either embrace the change and say, I'm happy the new generation doesn't have to deal with some of the hassles I had, or you could say, maybe he's not.

[Danny G]

Emotionally equipped and mentally equipped to think of it that way.

[Covino]

But besides the Brett Favre thing, listen one more time. Then we'll go to the reviews with Danny G. Just listen to how sad he sounds when he talks about him being the guy that was the first to dance after a sack.

[Danny G]

I started the sack dance and now it's okay. But then it wasn't. But how about if I did the same stuff now?

Seinfeld is famously referred to as the show about nothing. And I think that's also a good description for this show. And I say that with the highest praise. Yeah, that sounds. That's not a He's. Those are compliments.

Yeah. Okay. So it's Thursday, December 12th. We throw it back every Thursday. We reminisce. We get you involved. This is where you get involved. I mean you're always involved. You have to imagine that there's a lot of company Christmas parties this week and next week. We had ours last week. We had a great time. Fox Sports Radio. There's also a lot of get togethers this weekend. A lot of ugly Christmas sweater parties, a lot of gatherings, a lot of people, a lot of family and friends coming together for the holidays. So it's sort of a two part doozy. What's some of the etiquette? We've touched on some of it in the past few weeks. Like don't be the most drunk at the party. That's the number one rule.

So what's some of the etiquette you always bring into these events? And I have a side question and that question is this, are Irish goodbyes okay? Because I feel like it's the best move. Some people say it's rude. Some people say you have to practice the Italian goodbye. What's the Italian goodbye?

[Covino]

The Italian goodbye is you kiss everyone in the whole party on both cheeks and it takes half hour to leave.

[Rich Davis]

More like an hour.

[Covino]

Yeah, easy. Like I dated a girl.

[Danny G]

And by the way, in case you don't know, the Irish goodbye is the exact opposite where you sort of sneak out without having to say goodbye to anybody.

[Rich Davis]

You vanish into the night.

[Covino]

I mean, otherwise known as the Irish exit.

[Danny G]

Right, the Irish exit.

[Rich Davis]

My dad has specialized in this over the years. He's. He's mastered it.

[Covino]

You're one of two types of people, which is okay because I. I dated the most Italian girl from Brooklyn and her family used to joke about. All right, we want to leave in a half hour. Start saying your goodbyes because it takes an old school Italian family at least a half hour. Oh, Uncle Nun and Gina. Every hug and kiss and bro hug and it takes forever. Or do you just say, hey, where Danny G. Go?

[Danny G]

You could say that's respect.

[Covino]

You know, I caught Danny G. I felt bad. I caught him in the middle of an Irish exit at the Fox Sports Radio party. Danny G Was walking out of the.

[Danny G]

And you were the guy that called him out.

[Rich Davis]

I was so close to having a successful Irish goodbye. And Rich yells through the. They had, like, plated glass there on the patio of the restaurant, hey, Danny G. Where are you going? That's so we ruined it.

[Danny G]

Why would you do that? Oh, you gotta let people leave gracefully. Now, we all could agree that stumbling out of the party is the worst way to go. And if you're gonna do that, do it safely. But again, party etiquette. Do you have to participate? Do you have to wear an ugly sweater? Do you have to go with the theme that whoever's hosting is going with? And again, your thoughts on Irish goodbyes.

How do you feel about the NFL accommodating Beyonce and making the Ravens Texans have an extended halftime so that she could do a full performance? Is that a bit much or not? Have you not heard of this Danny.

It's. It's an extra 10 to 15 minutes of halftime because Queen made that happen.

And I was just gonna say I.

Think family wants the concentration on B and not Jay.

Yeah, they're trying to take some of that off her. But Goodell did say he has cause. If you don't follow the bossip. Jay Z is affiliated with a lot of the Diddy stuff that's in the news right now. Some lawsuits in his direction. He's completely denying it. Denying anything to do with it. Making it very adamant that he's not.

[Covino]

And Roger. Roger Goodell has his back.

[Danny G]

And Goodell has his back.

Remember, Jay Z is involved with the whole halftime thing, so of course this is happening.

And we all know Beyonce, she's a Houstonian, so it makes sense for her to be at the Texans Ravens game. Now to kick off your Christmas football, did you also see before the Chiefs game, chief Steelers of the early game, Mariah Carey is going to be performing all I want for Christmas is you live before the game. So NFL and they also announced they're all going to be wearing this whole.

A lot of panettone and fruitcakes this weekend. People making cookies.

I never was until recently.

[Danny G]

I'm like, get that away from me. What is that? Pancake mix?

[Rich Davis]

What is eggnog? Is it egg?

[Danny G]

It's fantastic is what it is. I don't think stuff I always saw my mom drink and I'm like, blah. And now I really do like it.

[Rich Davis]

But it's just. It doesn't have booze in it until you add like, what?

[Covino]

Yeah, yeah. So I was saying I tried it for the first time a few years back because I was like the kid that was like, oh, eggnog. It's not bad if you like a white Russian or sweet. If you like milky cocktails. And that sounds weird. If you do like milky Caucasian, then you'll enjoy some egg dog. But if you don't like that at all, if you don't like horchata or anything that's milky, you'll be grossed out.

[Danny G]

Rich has a thought about what to bring and what not to bring to the party. Are your kids part of this equation? Like, do you bring your nose picking kids to other people's houses? Now, I do want to wrap this up. My thoughts on the Irish Goodbye. The old Irish exit. I think it is the most solid, most awesome move that was ever invented. In fact, I've perfected it. I've discussed this on the show before, but I have my own version of this. And I sort of start playing air guitar. Let's say it's the waitresses are playing Baron air and Aaron air now. Merry Christmas.

I start playing air guitar, right? Like, I'm really feeling this song. I dip out of the conversation and I just start air guitarin out the.

Bill Marsden. First of all, I'm a big fan of don't show up empty handed. But, you know, you don't need to go above and beyond. Someone said this to me recently and I said, you know what? You don't ever want to. You don't want to come across as like, yo, dude, you're trying to be nice and tell someone what to bring. But. But here's the thought. One of my buddies said, we're all grown ups, bring something or don't. His biggest pet peeve is when someone keeps hounding the host, like, hey, what do you need? What do you want? Me to bring. What do you want me to bring? What do you want? He's like, just bring something or don't. Don't. Like, I know you think you're being, like, kind, like, what do you need? But likely the host has it on lockdown.

[Danny G]

That's a good point, though. Yeah, it is annoying.

[Rich Davis]

Yeah.

[Danny G]

Just bring some redone. I like that. I do. I do like that.

[Covino]

Like, I have a party going on in my house on Saturday, Right. I don't even expect anyone to bring anything. But if you do, I.

[Danny G]

But if you do, yeah, you're just stocking up on other things.

[Covino]

You know, bring a six pack something, bring a bottle of wine, bring a little plate of cookies for dessert, whatever. Or bring nothing. No, I just think, right.

[Danny G]

You're not depending on that person brings. What do you need?

[Covino]

Don't ask the host a million times, what do you need?

[Danny G]

That's actually great advice. I like that because the reality is.

[Covino]

Oh, bring those, Danny G. No, I like sweet cheeks.

Yeah.

The reality. If I do need something, I'll hit up one of my close boys. That's not there yet. Like, Danny, if you're not there, like, if you're not there yet, I'm like, yo, Danny, can you stop and grab like, two bags of ice at the gas station? We're running out of ice.

Ping pong balls.

[Covino]

Yeah, any ping pong balls or. Hey, yo, yo, I was. Sam, I ran out of plastic forks. Can you. Do you mind grab.

Do you mind stealing some from the Fox Sports Radio kitchen?

Rich has already stolen enough from Panda Express this past week.

All right, now, what's the rule on this? The ugly sweater stuff or whatever particular rule or theme that the host is having everybody have to do that?

[Covino]

I think if. I think you trying to. Are you too cool to do it? If you. If you refuse because you're too cool, that's lame. If you don't have it, don't go above and beyond. But there was one year. Listen to how stubborn Covino is. You think? If you think Steve Covino stubborn now.

[Danny G]

Oh, I've changed a lot, though, since then.

[Covino]

Since. Yeah, yeah. We were in our 20s and. Remember Jay Z's club, the 4040 club in New York? One of our buddies, Nico, had a party there and the theme was everyone wear pink. I don't know why, but it was a theme. Like his girlfriend or at the time, or someone was like, everyone wear pink.

[Danny G]

It was a pink party.

[Covino]

Like, I found like a pink button down. So Covino was the one person that was like, if that I'm not wearing pink. He shows up with like a black button down. And he was the one guy.

[Danny G]

And by the way, I do want to punch myself in the face looking back at the photos as the one guy not in the pink shirt. Like, I still see those like, you're.

[Covino]

Going to Reuben's party. You're going to Reuben's white party in like a blue shirt.

[Danny G]

I do hate. I'm like, why? Why would I do that? I hate myself for that. So I have grown a little bit. But that is a true story. So go with the theme. Fair enough. What about bringing your nose picking kids? What about bringing your dogs? I gotta be honest. Can I be honest here? Can I be honest?

[Covino]

Yeah.

[Danny G]

Rich has parties, right? And I feel like too many people bring their dogs. So I therefore do not. Guess what. I'm his co host in life. I want to bring my little dog. Guess what I don't do. I don't bring my dog.

[Covino]

Yeah, we haven't accepted. We have one friend that comes from like an hour and a half.

[Danny G]

Then there's like seven dogs running around.

[Covino]

But it's like, they can't stay long if they don't bring their dog. It's a pain in the ass. I know.

[Danny G]

I agree. I don't think I want this dog on my leg all night long.

[Rich Davis]

This dog has incontinence issues. We have to bring it.

[Danny G]

And then you sit down, it's jumping on you, spill eggnog on yourself. Like, come on.

[Covino]

No one wants your dog there. No offense. That's what I'm saying. I promise you they don't.

[Danny G]

And by the way, I come to.

[Rich Davis]

See your dog, Rich. Yeah.

I would say ask. Ask the host first.

You don't know if little rowdy, Rowdy Piper is going to get along with your dog? No.

How do you know my dog's gonna like your dog? So etiquette at the party, holiday style. Oh, I got one other one. This. It doesn't bother when I say things. I just want to let it be known. They might not bother me, but I'm pointing out that it's not in good taste. Okay. Yeah, wouldn't bother me. But. Have you ever seen someone bring something and then bring it home with them?

[Danny G]

Yes. Yeah.

[Covino]

That to me is as tacky as it gets.

[Rich Davis]

Like, because nobody opened the bags of chips, so they take their Chips back or, like, half.

[Covino]

Like, if someone brings, like, a bottle, I don't know, like your Captain Morgan Rum, and it's half empty, and you see them walk out of your house.

[Rich Davis]

Just for the host to keep.

[Covino]

Yeah, like, I've seen. I've seen people walk out of my house. Like, wait, you taking it with you?

[Danny G]

You know what they gotta do.

[Rich Davis]

[Danny G]

I've shared this. I've shared this tip before, but I'll share it again. A lot of times when I go to Rich's house, I take all the good flavors out of the flavored seltzers. I just bring all the. Like, the tangerine and the grapefruit flavors. And I keep all the black cherries and all the good ones. The pineapple ones.

[Rich Davis]

I like the grapefruit flavor.

[Covino]

Yeah.

[Danny G]

I bring him to Rich's house.

[Covino]

Yeah.

I have a question. This came up with some of my friends. I'm okay drinking around kids because if there's gonna be kids at a holiday party, have your cocktails. I'm a firm believer in even though it's legal and we all partake here and there, don't smoke weed around the kids.

[Rich Davis]

Yeah. No.

[Danny G]

What?

[Rich Davis]

No doing that. Some people do. It's super tacky.

[Covino]

I'm just saying, like, I.

[Rich Davis]

Well, those are the same people that smoke weed, like, out in public at a park, and they don't care.

[Covino]

That's true.

They're oblivious to this.

[Covino]

I'm just saying, even if you dip outside, I just think there's something very tacky.

[Danny G]

And again, don't think kids are stupid either. Do you think my teenage kid doesn't know the smell of that?

[Covino]

Yeah.

[Danny G]

I'm just saying, she knows that Uncle Bart is like that.

[Covino]

I am not against weed culture. In fact, I love. They have these PBR Pabst Blue Ribbon makes weed infused seltzers.

[Danny G]

THC infused. Yeah. 10 milligrams and 25.

[Covino]

And I think they're fantastic. Gives you a nice little cool buzz. But it's a cocktail. That's fine, but I don't think anyone should be smoking weed in front of the kids. It's a bad look. I know times have changed, but come on, don't be a trash pack.

[Rich Davis]

I agree with you.

[Danny G]

And again, if you have any holiday party stories, thinking back, family gatherings, family get togethers. That's why we bring this up on a throwback Thursday, old school and 50 hits.

Oh, I know it's not your home. I know it's not your home, but don't wipe your hands on my couch.

[Danny G]

Oh, my goodness. Who does that?

[Covino]

But every time I have a party, I do realize, like, oh, look at that. Someone wiped their fingers on my cali.

Like after eating or after going and washing their hands.

[Covino]

Like, after eating, like.

[Danny G]

Okay, well, that's. I mean, I would say you take their invite away if you. If you catch the person.

[Rich Davis]

Why they. Why is there Cheeto dust on my ottoman?

[Danny G]

Yeah. What are your thoughts on, like, movies playing in the background? Quiet. Right? Like, you gotta have the music. It's a Christmas party. Right. Or a holiday get together. You gotta have the holiday jams going on in the background. If someone interrupts your holiday jams because they want to put the game on or a movie on. No volume. No volume on tv.

[Rich Davis]

Volume is good enough. So when you get close enough, you can hear it. But it's not overwhelming.

[Covino]

I think that's too much going on.

[Rich Davis]

Cacophony.

[Covino]

Like Saturday night, we have people over. Know what? I do want to put on for a minute, and I'm sure no one would object. Jesse Ventura is going to announce on Saturday night's main event.

[Danny G]

I think a bunch of people getting together for your Christmas party want to watch that. Are you out of your mind?

[Covino]

No, no. I'm not saying to watch the whole bowl games going on, but I'm saying in that moment. Yeah. And if there's a bowl game, but if there's something you want to watch, I just think no volume necessary.

[Danny G]

Oh, yeah. Okay. We agree on that.

[Rich Davis]

I'm good with that.

[Danny G]

All right, we. We're good on that.

Let's go to Vegas. That's. That's her nickname. She's in Las Vegas. Party etiquette. What do you think?

I just had a tree trimming party where I invite people over to put.

Up my Christmas tree and somebody literally.

Brought A bottle of wine, hid it.

[Danny G]

And then, you know, drank it and.

[Rich Davis]

Took the rest of it home.

[Danny G]

What's the point of even doing all that? Just leave it at home? Honestly, no invite next year for that person. That's how I see it.

[Covino]

I'm not thinking of one person in particular, but I have seen people come to my home over the years where they bring a bottle of wine or something, they take a little sip, maybe dip it away, and then I see them leaving with it.

[Danny G]

You have to be at a certain level of friendship to be able to do that too and get away with it. Like, I feel like Rich and I know each other well enough that if I brought something spec to Rich's house.

[Covino]

Like if you brought like a honey whiskey and you're like, dude, it's mine, I'm bringing it home.

[Danny G]

Because I would be like, I know Rich isn't gonna drink it. I'm just taking it home with me. But I know Rich, I'm with Rich every day.

[Covino]

It's gotta be like for some other.

[Danny G]

Jabroni to do that. It's just you're the biggest cheapskate that ever was.

[Rich Davis]

Like you bring over a 15 year old or a 15 year age Scotch and you're like, I only wanna share this with like three or four people. You hide it and then maybe you take it home because that's like a hundred dollar bottle of scotch. That's okay.

[Covino]

Oh, let me give you one more. I feel like this topic hits home because I love having people over as you know, fight nights, games. I enjoy having company over. I love hosting. I love having the game on. It's like something I get joy out of when the game's over or the party's over. I think that when the host says, hey, do you guys want like a coffee drink? Because I'll offer at some point.

[Danny G]

That means closing time.

[Covino]

That's almost like we're wrapping things up.

I took you up on the coffee drink last time.

But I was Sam, last time we had a party at my house, you and I sat by the fire pit and we had a drink and had great conversation. I loved it. I'm saying some people have the Kahlua coffee or the drink and then they're like, all right. They just sit back down. You're like, no, that was like.

I was thinking we changed our garage into like a family room. I may have like bowl games or what. I may have whatever's doing on tv. You could dip away to that area, like the family room.

No, I agree. You have the TV on, but I think you leave the holiday music on. It's a holiday party, so the. The music has to be played. I think you have the TVs on.

Like I have the Son of the Sonos surround sound. That should be holiday music.

I agree. I agree, man. I have so many different thoughts. Let's go back to the phone.

Dude, man, I'm just calling about something that happened maybe two weeks ago at a birthday party.

And so my cousin shows up with a fifth of Crown Royal. And you know, he goes to town on it. He doesn't share any, which, you know, I personally think shrewd. And maybe an hour goes by and he's like peeing in the bushes behind.

Where the party's going all night.

What do y'all think about that?

[Danny G]

I don't. I guess that's. It's look saves.

It's. I can't say we're. We're all innocent here, right? But if I. But if I catch.

I was saying peeing. Peeing on the side of my house. I'll probably tell him use the bathroom. What are you doing?

And Rich, don't you have a rule as a host of a party about how you invite them because you don't want to have some dude show up way early and you're just stuck with him?

Oh, this thing. I'm sorry. You know what? Let's end with this great tip. We'll take some of your feedback. I almost believe in layering the times. If you want the party to start at 7, you know who you tell the party starts at 7? People that you're close with. Anyone in this room. If you showed up at my house first, I'd be 100% okay with it. If the, like, neighbor or the kid, your friend, your kid's friend's dad shows up first. Like, you don't want the first people there.

[Danny G]

While you're still, like, setting up.

[Covino]

Yeah. While you're still, like, you know, you're not ready.

[Danny G]

And now you're like, having to just talk to this guy who you don't even know as well as everybody else because he's the only one there.

[Rich Davis]

Suddenly it's weekend hobnobbing, right?

[Covino]

Yeah.

[Danny G]

So the person you don't know that well, you give them the 8:00 invite. Everybody else is there at like 7. Yeah.

[Covino]

I think you should as a guest. Also think if I'm really close to this person, whatever the invite says, I could show up. But if you're a casual friend, you give it a half hour buffer at least.

[Rich Davis]

If you show up early and someone's trying to still set up and you're impeding their ability to set up and focus on the party, that's a problem. Don't show up early for stuff.

[Covino]

I have a buddy and I, unless it's work, I can't get mad at him because he's like a friend. Camino and I have known this guy Rob for a long time. Time. He showed up a half hour before my last, like, hang. I was breaking out folding tables still. And he's like, oh, it's just in the neighborhood. I'm like, you should have sat in your car or help me at least. No, he did help me, but I was able.

And not that we make a lot of great predictions on the show, but Danny G, you, even more so than me, predicted that everyone that thought the Washington, I'm sorry, the Minnesota Vikings were going to be bottom of the barrel, you know, maybe 5 and 11, 4 and you know, I'm sorry, 5 and 12, 4 and 13. There were teams that thought the Vikings were bottom tier. Vikings are top tier. Sam Darnold, there is MVP conversations. He has entered Whispers Whispers. He's entered the mild mix. I mean, still plus 7,500. But where does Sam Darnold play next year has become to me one of the real interesting questions in the National Football League. Yeah, there's so many other storylines with, you know, Josh Allen. Could they get past Kansas City?

[Danny G]

Is this, well, is he a star?

[Covino]

Is this the Lions year? Like, there's so many bigger questions, but stars, I think next year where is Sam Darnold? Is a hell of a question.

[Rich Davis]

Yeah. And a lot of the thought also is, will he be the same Darnold that we're seeing right now if he's not with Kevin O'Connell? Because even rich said it on the show last week. Quarterback whisperer, we've heard that thrown around.

[Covino]

He's like Cesar Millan.

[Rich Davis]

Right. But even Gridiron, they put out a meme today, a picture of Sam Darnold right here. And it says, where will he play in 2025? There's a Raider logo, a Giants logo, a Titans logo, Rams, Saints, jets, and Vik.

[Danny G]

And Met's logo. Because Steve Cohen said he wants him. Just because. Yeah.

[Rich Davis]

Just have a strong arm in the outfield.

[Danny G]

Said his hair goes good with the uniform.

[Rich Davis]

Yeah.

[Danny G]

Just because.

[Rich Davis]

And there is now a little bit of, you know, arguing back and forth, even between Raider Nation, who currently have the number one pick.

[Danny G]

Give me those teams again, Danny, Jake.

Okay, so Raiders, Giants, Titans, Rams, Saints, Jets, Vikings. So some of these teams are going to say, do we go with a potential franchise quarterback?

[Danny G]

Jets are on there.

Yeah, nerves.

My. My dad has. My dad is a New Yorker. I talked to my dad yesterday.

[Danny G]

Yeah.

[Covino]

And I, I didn't know my dad cared so much about Sam Darnold. He was adamant that, oh, oh, if Sam Darnold takes the bait for that trash team. My dad's like, if Sam Donald even entertains the idea of going back to a team that left him out like yesterday's diapers.

[Danny G]

Yeah. Your dad is absolutely dead on with that.

[Covino]

He's like, Sam. He's like, sam Dar. Unless they give Sam Darnold $50 million a year, he's like, if I were.

[Danny G]

Sam Dar, him superstar money. No way.

[Rich Davis]

So jets decisions, decisions. Because you heard Beyer earlier on our show talk about how Travis Hunter was named the player of the year in college football.

[Covino]

Yeah.

[Rich Davis]

So if you are a team like the Raiders say, you have the number one pick. Travis Hunter should go number one overall. Would you try to then throw your money at Darnold and have him throw to the law firm of Bowers, Hunter and Myers? Or do you go with Sanders or Cam Ward?

[Covino]

It's so tricky, Danny, because if you could get a quarterback for a couple years on the Chief, we've seen that, what that's done for teams, what an advantage that is. So if the Raiders paid Sam Darnold 40, 50 plus million dollars, maybe 60, who knows?

[Rich Davis]

But he is a proven commodity. And Travis Hunter.

[Covino]

Travis Hunter, along with Brock Bowers, and.

[Rich Davis]

He can make an impact on both sides of the ball. I mean, it's at least something to think about.

[Danny G]

By the way, though, Darnold's paid his dues, man. Like, he's been bounced around. He was never the problem, never the issue.

[Covino]

I would go if I were him. Tennessee is a bad idea that that team has a lot of work to do. Just be a setback. Rams, what are we saying? If Stafford's days are numbered like Darnold's, like in the wings, he'd want to.

[Danny G]

Set himself up with a chance to win too, you know, so you know.

[Covino]

Nobody that could pick in the top five. So I don't think the Giants, Raiders, I don't think any of those teams are on the table.

Yeah, yeah. You know, especially, you know, Shador Sanders has been linked to Danny's team. There's Cam Ward out there. I don't know how many quarterbacks are going to be there. But to the point as well is I don't know if Sam Darnold should be going to those spots to try to be the savior because he doesn't have to. He's doing well, but he doesn't have to do everything. In Minnesota you've got Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison and Aaron Jones and a lot of, a lot of weapons there. If you go somewhere where it's depleted, you're probably not going to be as good.

I had the dumb thought of if Brock purdy wants like 60 and Sam Darnold's will take 45. I don't know.

Falcons at Raiders. Raiders are playing to lose now because they want that Travis Hunter pick or they want to do what they want to do. And the Falcons need to desperately stay in this garbage NFC south battle with Tampa. So Falcons. So you got Packers, Falcons, Niners. And unless I'm missing a key injury like is Mahomes sitting this one out, they're only favored by four over Cleveland, and that money line is minus 225. So I added it to the parlay. So Packers, Niners, Falcons, Chiefs, just moneyline wins 100 pays 500.
