Yeah, they are. They're really drawn to you and the. The Paddy Pimblett train. And, you know, we spoke about this last time. It hasn't always been easy, but now you find yourself in a big spot. Your last fight, you and I sat in that hotel in Miami, right? We were off on the corner because they were telling us, be quiet. We were talking too loud. We do the interview, and you sat there and you told me, D.C. in your patty Pimlet accent, I am going to smash this dude. I was like, come on, man, this is Michael Chandler. This dude has not been beat. He's always in a close match. He's always good. He's tough. You said, I am going to destroy him. And you did. Was there a moment in there where it kind of got a little. It was going a little better than you could have, even as anticipated.

No, it's. It started off a little worse than I anticipated. I should have finished him faster. I started a little bit slow in that fight. But as I say, I knew what I was going to do to him. I knew that I was going to beat him up. I just. I Just knew. And I know the same's going to happen this Saturday.

[DC (Daniel Cormier)]

You know, you picked him up and you took him down and you controlled him and beat him up on the ground. This guy's an NCAA all American. So is Justin Gaethje. You are some claims, Patty. The claims that you're going to destroy Justin in that way, it gets met with resistance. Where's the confidence come from?

[Paddy Pimblett]

I've just always had this weird form of self belief, but I'm not confident in any other walk of life. I'll be honest, I'm don't only confident when it comes to fighting because I know how good I am at it. I know how good I am at mixed martial arts. So I'm super confident in it. I think that's why I'm so good, because of how confident I am in myself. I keep seeing people lately saying I won't be able to take just engage you down. Just like he said, I wouldn't be able to take Michael Chandler down. But we'll see on Saturday night, won't we?

[DC (Daniel Cormier)]

But what if you can't take him down? Can you stand and strike with Justin Gage?

[Paddy Pimblett]

Yeah, I know for a fact I can't. He went, he went life and death with Michael Chan a lot, know what I mean? He nearly got knocked out by Chandler, who's got arms this long. So like imagine what I'm going to do to him.

[DC (Daniel Cormier)]

You know, when you got the title fight right, there was a lot of people, oh, it shouldn't have be this guy. And I was actually on the phone the other day or no, on an interview and he said if Arman. Will Arman just beat Patty or something. I was like, well, he's very good, but nobody just beats Patty Pimblett. Do you feel like you're starting to get that respect from people? And does it even matter? Because I know when I watch, I'm watching you and saying there is no easy night against Paddy Pimblett. Because of what I saw in the last fight.

[Paddy Pimblett]

It doesn't matter what people are saying. People have doubted me my whole career. Like ever since I started fighting amateur level when I was a little kid, everyone's always doubted me. But I use them as motivation and to push me on and make me do even better. And it's worked for years and years. You know, people keep going on about arm and lot. Shut up about him. People actually like. People actually like Almond now because they hate me. That's the only reason he's got some funds where I have love, hate relationship with people. Some people love me, some people hate me. People have only jumped on the arm and saying who hate me and want to see me fail. That's the only reason Almonds got fans. No one likes him.

Why don't you like Armin so much, man? Hey, wait, can I ask you.

He's a spoiled little known. I mean he's had everything handed to him on a silver platter his whole life with caviar served on the side. He doesn't know what our day's work is. So it would seem like fighting Armin would be easy, right, because you have these feelings about him. What about Justin?

No, no, I don't have. I don't have any animosity towards Justin at all. Know, we've just had to do a little Paramount thing then. And we had to stare at lad the others about this far apart from each other, staring at each other for two minutes straight and we were like, jesus, are we gonna have to kiss here or something?

What did you take from that? The first interaction being that close to him in that way.

[Paddy Pimblett]

I don't want to say. I don't know, he was nervous because it's just engaging. He's fought everyone so he's not going to be nervous to fight me. But he was a little bit twitchy, you know what I mean? Where I was just staring at him. He was like a little bit moving his arm, a little bit twitchy. But his neck's very long, isn't it? Got a long neck.

I've never, I've never noticed that he has a long neck.

Yeah. He's got a long necklace which will not help him with the joke.

So you're saying that under three rounds will put Justin Gaethj out? We have not really seen that happen. Even the fight with Max Holloway happened in the 24th minute of a 25 minute fight. How, how, how can you aggressively approach him in that way when early in the fight that would put you in danger, or at least it would seem to be.

Yeah, I never feel like I'm in danger in a fight. I mean, I feel like I can take a shot off anyone and keep walking forward. I think. I don't want to disrespect him because I really like Justin, but I think his power is overrated. He hasn't knocked anyone out with his hands since James Vic. He knocked Porier out with an egg kick, but that's a Porier on the ass end of his career who I think was already on a downward spiral. I don't think Poirier's last couple of fights he looked that good at all. They give Islam a decent fight when Islam had staff. So that explains it.

In the spring, not fighting that soon that I'm fighting in January, I'm going on holiday in February. I won't have enough time. I've had to sit around and wait for him. You can wait a couple of months. End of June, start of July.

You used to get real big, but now that it's getting serious, you don't seem to get as heavy as you used to. Like, have you started to make it a point not to get as big as you used to get?

And you're big. You're very big for the weight class. Do you think that's going to cause problems for every one of these guys? I mean, Ilya is a shorter guy. Justin's not as big as you are, and neither is Armin. Do you feel like your size is going to be one of the biggest issues for these guys?

Yeah, it is, definitely. My size will play a big factor, to be honest. Justin's not small. Justin's just a little bit shorter than me in height, but I, I've got a lot bigger legs and shoulders than him. Yeah, but in height, me and Justin a pretty similar size. Me arms are a bit longer, like, but then Arman and Ilia are both a lot shorter, and that'll play a factor when it comes to fighting on Saturday night.

You win the interim championship, what does that mean to Paddy Pimlet, a guy who many thought would be a champion in the ufc, to accomplish that goal? What would that mean for you mean?

[Paddy Pimblett]

Everything. To be honest, it'll be a culmination, culmination of a lifetime's work, because started training 16 years ago when I was 15, and it's half me lifetime, my whole adult life. I've been training for this moment, and I'm going to come out and take it on Saturday night.

I can't wait to get back. The fans are going to be rabid too, man. They've been deprived from fights for seven.
