DC (Daniel Cormier)
What's up, Maddie? How you doing?
Paddy Pimblett
How are we? Okay.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Good, man. Good. Listen, there's one thing I gotta tell you that I'm very surprised. So I'm in Florida, right, at an appearance, and the company, Anderson Ord, the daughter was like, I love Fatty Pimblett. I'm like, but how? Like, come here, come here. Come say hi, Patty. How? Like, what. What do you think? Say hi to Patty family right there. Patty. Good. Okay. You can't. You can't talk to him. You gotta just say hi and go. You can't, like, have a conversation. She got dressed. But let me ask you a question. How did you. How are you making this connection with these kids like that? Because I remember in Miami, you said to me, it's infectious. The music, the energy. Wait until you experience my walkout. The kids now, bro. From my wrestlers to even, like, here, they're like, we love Patty Pimblett. Like, how did you make the connection with these young kids like that?
Paddy Pimblett
Just by being myself. I mean, I. I still feel like a young kid myself. Still feel 18 in the. In the brain. So I'm just like one of them. Yeah. As I say, just being myself and not being fake. I think that's the main part of people actually liking you.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Yeah, they are. They're really drawn to you and the. The Paddy Pimblett train. And, you know, we spoke about this last time. It hasn't always been easy, but now you find yourself in a big spot. Your last fight, you and I sat in that hotel in Miami, right? We were off on the corner because they were telling us, be quiet. We were talking too loud. We do the interview, and you sat there and you told me, D.C. in your patty Pimlet accent, I am going to smash this dude. I was like, come on, man, this is Michael Chandler. This dude has not been beat. He's always in a close match. He's always good. He's tough. You said, I am going to destroy him. And you did. Was there a moment in there where it kind of got a little. It was going a little better than you could have, even as anticipated.
Paddy Pimblett
No, it's. It started off a little worse than I anticipated. I should have finished him faster. I started a little bit slow in that fight. But as I say, I knew what I was going to do to him. I knew that I was going to beat him up. I just. I Just knew. And I know the same's going to happen this Saturday.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
You know, you picked him up and you took him down and you controlled him and beat him up on the ground. This guy's an NCAA all American. So is Justin Gaethje. You are some claims, Patty. The claims that you're going to destroy Justin in that way, it gets met with resistance. Where's the confidence come from?
Paddy Pimblett
I've just always had this weird form of self belief, but I'm not confident in any other walk of life. I'll be honest, I'm don't only confident when it comes to fighting because I know how good I am at it. I know how good I am at mixed martial arts. So I'm super confident in it. I think that's why I'm so good, because of how confident I am in myself. I keep seeing people lately saying I won't be able to take just engage you down. Just like he said, I wouldn't be able to take Michael Chandler down. But we'll see on Saturday night, won't we?
DC (Daniel Cormier)
But what if you can't take him down? Can you stand and strike with Justin Gage?
Paddy Pimblett
Yeah, I know for a fact I can't. He went, he went life and death with Michael Chan a lot, know what I mean? He nearly got knocked out by Chandler, who's got arms this long. So like imagine what I'm going to do to him.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
You know, when you got the title fight right, there was a lot of people, oh, it shouldn't have be this guy. And I was actually on the phone the other day or no, on an interview and he said if Arman. Will Arman just beat Patty or something. I was like, well, he's very good, but nobody just beats Patty Pimblett. Do you feel like you're starting to get that respect from people? And does it even matter? Because I know when I watch, I'm watching you and saying there is no easy night against Paddy Pimblett. Because of what I saw in the last fight.
Paddy Pimblett
It doesn't matter what people are saying. People have doubted me my whole career. Like ever since I started fighting amateur level when I was a little kid, everyone's always doubted me. But I use them as motivation and to push me on and make me do even better. And it's worked for years and years. You know, people keep going on about arm and lot. Shut up about him. People actually like. People actually like Almond now because they hate me. That's the only reason he's got some funds where I have love, hate relationship with people. Some people love me, some people hate me. People have only jumped on the arm and saying who hate me and want to see me fail. That's the only reason Almonds got fans. No one likes him.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Why don't you like Armin so much, man? Hey, wait, can I ask you.
Paddy Pimblett
He's a spoiled little known. I mean he's had everything handed to him on a silver platter his whole life with caviar served on the side. He doesn't know what our day's work is. He wouldn't know what it's like being from Liverpool, know what I mean? Stick army in here, up your ass, your little crab.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
What is. What is, what is. What is a posh boy? Why do you call this man posh boy? What is that?
Paddy Pimblett
Posh boy in America?
DC (Daniel Cormier)
No, no, we don't say posh boy. What is a posh boy? You know what I've heard? Posh Spice. Posh Spice.
Paddy Pimblett
She's posh. She grew up posh with a dad with loads of money who drove a Rolls Royce.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Did you see when David Beckham checked her on that? They were on the documentary. She.
Paddy Pimblett
Yeah, that's what I mean, like. And that's what Almond's like, you know what I mean? Like saying that his dad will transfer him 500k if he asked for a new car. That's just a spoiled little. I mean he's never wanted for anyone in his life, so.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
So it would seem like fighting Armin would be easy, right, because you have these feelings about him. What about Justin?
Paddy Pimblett
Yeah.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Do you have those feelings about Justin or.
Paddy Pimblett
No, no, I don't have. I don't have any animosity towards Justin at all. Know, we've just had to do a little Paramount thing then. And we had to stare at lad the others about this far apart from each other, staring at each other for two minutes straight and we were like, jesus, are we gonna have to kiss here or something?
DC (Daniel Cormier)
What did you take from that? The first interaction being that close to him in that way.
Paddy Pimblett
I don't want to say. I don't know, he was nervous because it's just engaging. He's fought everyone so he's not going to be nervous to fight me. But he was a little bit twitchy, you know what I mean? Where I was just staring at him. He was like a little bit moving his arm, a little bit twitchy. But his neck's very long, isn't it? Got a long neck.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
I've never, I've never noticed that he has a long neck.
Paddy Pimblett
Yeah. He's got a long necklace which will not help him with the joke.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
So you're saying that under three rounds will put Justin Gaethj out? We have not really seen that happen. Even the fight with Max Holloway happened in the 24th minute of a 25 minute fight. How, how, how can you aggressively approach him in that way when early in the fight that would put you in danger, or at least it would seem to be.
Paddy Pimblett
Yeah, I never feel like I'm in danger in a fight. I mean, I feel like I can take a shot off anyone and keep walking forward. I think. I don't want to disrespect him because I really like Justin, but I think his power is overrated. He hasn't knocked anyone out with his hands since James Vic. He knocked Porier out with an egg kick, but that's a Porier on the ass end of his career who I think was already on a downward spiral. I don't think Poirier's last couple of fights he looked that good at all. They give Islam a decent fight when Islam had staff. So that explains it.

DC (Daniel Cormier)
You know you fighting for the interim championship on Saturday. You win this belt, you would seem to refresh the division, right? You have a potential number one contender in Armin Tsarukian, who you said you would beat any day of the week. You also have a champion in Ilia Toporia, who you said you will not be fighting in April when he said that he intends to come back in April or May. Why one don't you want to fight Ilia Toporia if he comes back in.
Paddy Pimblett
In the spring, not fighting that soon that I'm fighting in January, I'm going on holiday in February. I won't have enough time. I've had to sit around and wait for him. You can wait a couple of months. End of June, start of July.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Yeah, in the June, start of July. So you'd imagine it would be Ilia to pour your necks if you become champion on Saturday.
Paddy Pimblett
Yeah, when I become champions and I'm champion on Saturday, it'll be Eliot to Podia after that. If he comes back in time. Know what I mean? If he doesn't come back by June, July, then he needs to be stripped or vacate and let the division move on and I'll fight Armin. You know what I mean? People saying I'm scared to fight armor. I've never been offered to fight him. I'd fight him tomorrow.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Yeah, yeah. Patty, before I let you go, so you said that your Christmas was ruined because you had this fight and you couldn't eat. Yeah, but, but stop, stop. I need you to be honest here, Patty. You're kind of playing that up a little bit because I saw you way back in December and you don't get as big as you used to. You used to get real big, but now that it's getting serious, you don't seem to get as heavy as you used to. Like, have you started to make it a point not to get as big as you used to get?
Paddy Pimblett
Pardon me? Well, not when I was in America. The. In June. In June this year I still got up to like £200. £205?
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Yeah, but, you know, but I've got a lot more.
Paddy Pimblett
I've got a lot.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Was that picture AI, when your face was looking all big, like fat basketball?
Paddy Pimblett
Oh, yeah, but always. AI, that always Photoshopped all of them pictures. But, like, even better, come to International Fight Week. I was like 200 pound then.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
But you didn't look fair.
Paddy Pimblett
Yeah, but of me, to make me look fatter. But I still walk around at like 195 with ABS.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
And you're big. You're very big for the weight class. Do you think that's going to cause problems for every one of these guys? I mean, Ilya is a shorter guy. Justin's not as big as you are, and neither is Armin. Do you feel like your size is going to be one of the biggest issues for these guys?
Paddy Pimblett
Yeah, it is, definitely. My size will play a big factor, to be honest. Justin's not small. Justin's just a little bit shorter than me in height, but I, I've got a lot bigger legs and shoulders than him. Yeah, but in height, me and Justin a pretty similar size. Me arms are a bit longer, like, but then Arman and Ilia are both a lot shorter, and that'll play a factor when it comes to fighting on Saturday night.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
You win the interim championship, what does that mean to Paddy Pimlet, a guy who many thought would be a champion in the ufc, to accomplish that goal? What would that mean for you mean?
Paddy Pimblett
Everything. To be honest, it'll be a culmination, culmination of a lifetime's work, because started training 16 years ago when I was 15, and it's half me lifetime, my whole adult life. I've been training for this moment, and I'm going to come out and take it on Saturday night.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
I can't wait to get back. The fans are going to be rabid too, man. They've been deprived from fights for seven.
Paddy Pimblett
Yeah, the fans have been going bananas for the show, so this is going to be spectacular.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Yeah, you probably need some spectacular in your life right now after the way Liverpool's playing, huh? Boy, they gave y' all that great year last year.
Paddy Pimblett
We're winning two nil right now, lad.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Okay, okay, well.
Paddy Pimblett
Lovely. Up the reds, mate.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Yeah, up the reds. You know, I, I, I hope for some good luck for y', all because I, I hate for a champion like y' all were last year to look so bad when we, the Arsenal of London, are playing so, so well right now and just.
Paddy Pimblett
Yeah, you still won't win the league though. You said Bottlers. It's just the way it is.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
Also, here's the thing. Now that you're fighting for the belt, Patty, you and I can start making real bets. Champion bets Arsenal vs Liverpool DC vs Patty Pimblett let's bet it.
Paddy Pimblett
Yeah, next year lad, we'll finish above using the league defo. You won't win it anyway. City are going to win it.
DC (Daniel Cormier)
I'm going be chasing you down for my money. Patty Pimblett guys fights for the UFC Interim Championship this weekend at UFC 324.
