What's up everybody? This is Get At Me with your boy Draymond Green and my dog, Baron Davis. B.D.
Baron Davis
What'S happening?
Draymond Green
That's actually what this is. This is Get At Me. This is where we will answer fans questions. So make sure you shoot your questions. You might get an answer. I'll take the first one from Syed. Sayed. Syed. Syed 93460. How well would JK fit with Jimmy? I don't know. What I do know is Jimmy kind of know how to play with anybody. And JK has a lot of talent and Jimmy will figure out how to use that talent to the advantage of this team and we will figure that out. So I don't know how well they'll fit, but I do know at some point they will because they don't figure it out and making it work. But Jake, we looking forward to getting them back for sure. All right.
Baron Davis
From Solo. Sequoia. Sequoia. All right, never mind. From S O L O S I K O A Sequoia. Sequoia. Solo Sequoia. All right. I heard Draymond mention the other day that Orlando was one of steps top five small market arenas to play in. What are our word? Your guys? Top five smaller markets to play in.
Draymond Green
So you have to understand for us, like when we go to certain places, it ain't like if the Charlotte Hornets go to that place, like where we go Steph Curry show. It's sold out, it's loud. And so we were just discussing like smaller markets and like how like where we had the most fun in the smaller markets. And one of them was like every time we play in Orlando, it's a good game. Yeah, the fans turn out. We always have fun there. Another one we discussed was Washington. Like when we go to Washington, it get loud. Fans be talking, talking trash. It's just something about D.C. and then also you know, the years we had KD on you going back to his hometown.
Baron Davis
Oh, yeah, for sure.
Draymond Green
So Washington has always been a fun one. Obviously. Memphis, Memphis. They crowd. They hate us. Absolutely hate us. And so it's always fun to go play there. Smaller market team that. Again, I'm not sure what Memphis attendance is, you know, nightly, but I know when we go there, always sold out, always super loud, always rowdy. And so that was another one of the favorites. The last two were. Come on, Indiana. Yeah, Indiana.
Baron Davis
That's a good one.
Draymond Green
And it was one more Portland. Like, we've had battles in Portland, obviously, in the playoffs. You know, we have a lot of fun in that arena. We've spent a bunch of time there. And so those were kind of our top five arenas that we'd like to play in in the smaller markets, you know, not the state, not the TV guard, not Madison Square Garden and the smaller market. Like, those were our top five.
Baron Davis
I played a smaller market, so, you know, loved Indiana, Love Portland. Going out west of Portland. Milwaukee was always crazy rivalry. I don't know if Miami is a small market, but I consider Miami small. And then I would say Dallas, you know, Dallas was always jumping, you know, but we play. I play for New Orleans, Charlotte, Cleveland. Cleveland was rocking, too. Cleveland is a great arena, a great place to play, too.
Draymond Green
Yeah, Cleveland. Cleveland is great for us as well. We. It's just special, though, you know what I'm saying? Ships in there, so that. That kind of goes in a little different category for us. It's always lit, for sure, but we got a different thing with Cleveland, you know what I'm saying? Like, you play somewhere, somebody four years in row in the NBA Finals, they see us every year. We see them, we know they go, we gonna see them. They know they gonna see us. It's just a different thing there. So I don't really put them in that category, although they're a small market, because it's just a different level of, like, special in that arena.
Baron Davis
Yeah, no, I get it.
Draymond Green
At 23, Isaiah 08 said, talk about, talk, talk about Brian calling out the media for protecting 8090s era, especially the marketing go and hating on today's generation of talents, especially Bron. I think media as a whole was just different back then. Like, people weren't getting TV slots because they could talk the most trash about somebody or figure out how they could shit on somebody else's name today and how much controversy they can keep up. That just wasn't what was being sold back then. Media was Building the game up. They were telling stories, they were learning how to market the game and they were doing it from a space of we're trying to grow this product. How do you best do that? Today the game is growing outrageously and it's just not the same. Like media gets attention for the hottest take they can make. No one checks facts anymore who can say, you know what I'm saying? It's just the whole media climbing. And so I think, you know, social media, right. Like I think there's a lot of differences between the 80s and 90s, but I do agree that a lot. That's why it'd be funny to me. A lot of times when you get like guys who came up during that time or were of that time and then they start saying stuff, I'm like, they, they were in a sense protected, but also protected by the, the reach of the league. The reach of the league wasn't as big as it is today. And so, you know, I think most media just take the easy way out and that is what, what is the hottest take I can make and not, you know, a lot of media don't know the game no more. You know what I'm saying?
Baron Davis
Yeah, it's not. Yes, you know what it is? It's the fans have a voice and so all like back when I played, you know, it was, you had to make a name for yourself. You come out of college, you make a name for yourself. So players already had a built in fan base and a loyal fan bas based on the school, the energy that they came from, the media was really focused on the biggest stories and the biggest stars and all the conversation around a fan hating or somebody hating on you or a hot take, you had to go to the arena and shout that out to one of the players to get that off. Or if you see them in a club or you see them at a grocery store, yeah, try your chances. But there was no phones or, you know, now people can quickly pick up any media source and be first to respond. Right. Or first to create something. And when they create that asset, now you got every fan, whether a good fan or a bad fan, they're just having dialog on these platforms. So the problem with the media is yes, there is a hate of today's generation. It's not really a hated today's generation. It's a hot take.
Draymond Green
Yes, right.
Baron Davis
Because people want to hot take today's generation instead of figuring out ways to tell a story. Like I want to know more of the stories behind these players. So I can love them or fall in love with their game or understand, but everything is existing on a hot take. And we grew up in an era where stories were told. So you bought into the person based on the story of who they were, and then you appreciated their game, and then you love their game for what they do. Today you just following people because of what the algorithm is telling you to do.
Draymond Green
I agree 100%.
Baron Davis
All right, March Madness is starting next week. How far do you have your Spartan Dogs going? I can tell you they're not going to make the tournament. They're not getting in this year. It's okay. And that's from arena of the Mind.
Draymond Green
Who not getting in the tournament this year?
Baron Davis
Yeah, I'm not getting in, Brother, we.
Draymond Green
About to be a 1 seed. What are you talking about?
Baron Davis
In the tournament?
Draymond Green
What?
Baron Davis
You realize one seed?
Draymond Green
You realize? Who you talking to? We. We. Fifteen and three in the Big Ten.
Baron Davis
Oh, for real? Yeah.
Draymond Green
Wait, do you realize who you're talking to?
Baron Davis
Y'all gonna lose in the second round.
Draymond Green
You do realize I went to Michigan State? I think you might have me confused with like, I went to Michigan State and it's Mark. I played for Tom Isabel in March.
Baron Davis
Second round yellow.
Draymond Green
We never lose in the second round. This is the year. If we win the first game of the weekend, we're winning the second game.
Baron Davis
You're getting out that weekend, huh?
Draymond Green
It is telling you, you win me the first game, I'll win you the second game. So second round is just you not knowing again. So I'm gonna help you out. If you want a successful bracket, you better have Michigan State at least in your Final Four.
Baron Davis
Ah, hell no.
Draymond Green
Then bet something.
Baron Davis
Nah, I don't. I'm tired.
Draymond Green
Oh, yeah.
Baron Davis
Let's do a bracket.
Draymond Green
I bet. You know what? Other than the trash ass ucla, I.
Baron Davis
Don'T know what C we gonna get.
Draymond Green
Just so you know, by the way, you're making me turn into this person. I actually love ucla. I love. Kids love ucla. We live right up the street.
Baron Davis
Hey, man, we. We in the Big Ten nows.
Draymond Green
But just stop. We are. We are not stop.
Baron Davis
I mean, yeah, y'all don't. Y'all can't even compare. Y can't be rivals to us. We can't. We. The Big Dogs came into the Big Ten.
Draymond Green
Y'all ain't done nothing meaningful since John Wooden. He last coach. He coached his last. He coached his last game 40 years ago.
Baron Davis
Oh, come on, man. He coaches disrespect the Bruins.
Draymond Green
John Wooden coached his last game.
Baron Davis
Would you say that to Kavon Loney?
Draymond Green
He knows absolutely not, right?
Baron Davis
It don't matter.
Draymond Green
Steve Offer got fired from Iowa.
Baron Davis
Steve Offer was not the right. Right guy.
Draymond Green
That's what I'm saying. Like you.
Baron Davis
Like, we need. I ain't gonna lie. We need us a time izzo. Maybe not a top basketball player. We need like a. We need somebody to be there for 20 years. If I go back, I do it, I become the Thomas. The Bruins. Listen, we smack ucla. I mean, we would smack Michigan State if I was a coach at UCLA, bro, we would. We would be 30.
Draymond Green
Y'all beat us on some fluke stuff this year, but 30. 30 only fluky. God's first time being out. 30. You probably felt the same. Felt got a little soft.
Baron Davis
We used to be not the same. Michigan State no more. It won't happen again.
Draymond Green
Y'all better hope we. Y'all. I don't even know if y'all gonna make the Big Ten tournament.
Baron Davis
The tournament. Come on, dude.
Draymond Green
You have to make the big.
Baron Davis
We made it. We what? Fourth. Fifth in the Big Ten.
Draymond Green
Are y'all that high?
Baron Davis
I don't think we fourth and fifth anyway. We just. Minor adjustments away from. We can win it. We can win down the stretch. I know we got defense.
Draymond Green
Arena. Arena of the mind. You want a successful.
Baron Davis
Don't do that. You're gonna lose your office bracket. Best sweet 16, maybe elite eight for you guys.
Draymond Green
No, no. Why you keep moving up first? You said 32, not 16. Nine. Lead eight. Keep going. I. I know.
Baron Davis
Do not think Final Four at all. If y'all go to eight. If y'all go to lead eight, y'all done. But I don't think y'all making it out the second round, to be honest. I hope we play y'all second round, too, so we can. So we can beat y'all again. That's a hot take. Is that a hotel?
Draymond Green
Very hot. Burned up. So which one of those hot takes are you willing to put your money on or. We ain't gotta.
Baron Davis
We can.
Draymond Green
Here's the bet.
Baron Davis
Since Michigan State is number one seed, I bet you Michigan State don't go two rounds past ucla. And I bet my bracket. I bet my bracket. And all the fans on my side are going to agree with my bracket over your bracket. And we should turn a bracket in.
Draymond Green
We should. 100.
Baron Davis
I want to see how much you know if Michigan. If you're gonna have Michigan State to win it all, being the number one seed, you should.
Draymond Green
I mean, let us get the number one seed first. We still Got to close out this big ten.
Baron Davis
It sounds like excuses.
Draymond Green
By the way, whether we're one seat or five seed, we going to final course. I ain't tripping on that. Let us get the number one seed first because we still need to win. We need to win to get the next one. But in saying that I don't care if we three, we, we going to.
Baron Davis
You heard it from here, ladies and gentlemen. Hot take Michigan State in the final four.
Draymond Green
That's pretty cold and that hot. Like that's normal what we did.
Baron Davis
Just so y'all don't want to see us in the title. We got your.
Draymond Green
Man. We. To the fans that send in questions, we appreciate y'all. To these four that we answered, thank you. Excuse me, was it? Yeah, to these four that we answered, thank you for submitting those. To those that did submit and didn't quite make the show, please submit further and we will continue to try to cycle through, get you on the show, answer some of your questions, make sure we taking care of the fans. We love y'all. We appreciate you.
Baron Davis
Peace.
Draymond Green

Podcast Summary: The Herd with Colin Cowherd
Episode: The Draymond Green Show w/Baron Davis: Get @ Me! - LeBron’s Media Criticism, March Madness, Favorite Small Markets
Release Date: March 9, 2025
Introduction
In this episode of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Draymond Green and his co-host, Baron Davis, dive into a vibrant discussion covering a range of topics, including team dynamics, favorite small market arenas, media criticism, and March Madness predictions. The episode, aptly titled Get @ Me!, offers fans insightful perspectives on current sports narratives and personal anecdotes from the hosts.
Team Dynamics and Player Compatibility
The episode kicks off with Draymond Green addressing a fan question about the potential fit between two players, referred to as JK and Jimmy. Green expresses cautious optimism about their compatibility:
Draymond Green [03:37]: "Jimmy kind of know how to play with anybody. And JK has a lot of talent and Jimmy will figure out how to use that talent to the advantage of this team and we will figure that out."
Despite uncertainties, Green emphasizes the team’s commitment to making the new dynamics work, highlighting the adaptability and talent within the squad.
Favorite Small Market Arenas
Baron Davis initiates a conversation about favorite small market arenas, prompting Green to share his top picks. They discuss the unique atmosphere and fan engagement in various smaller cities:
Draymond Green [04:59]: "Every time we play in Orlando, it's a good game. Yeah, the fans turn out. We always have fun there."
The hosts highlight arenas in Orlando, Washington D.C., Memphis, Indiana, and Portland as their favorites, citing factors like sold-out crowds, loud and rowdy atmospheres, and passionate fan bases. Davis adds personal experiences from his playing days, reinforcing the significance of these markets in creating memorable games.
Media Criticism: Evolution from Past to Present
A substantial portion of the discussion centers on media criticism, specifically contrasting the media landscape of the 80s and 90s with today’s environment. Both Green and Davis express concerns over the shift towards sensationalism and “hot takes” in modern sports media.
Draymond Green [08:17]: "The media was building the game up... Today the game is growing outrageously and it's just not the same."
Baron Davis [10:06]: "The fans have a voice... But there was no phones or, you know, now people can quickly pick up any media source and be first to respond."
They argue that the past media focused on storytelling and growing the sport, whereas contemporary media prioritizes sensationalism and rapid-fire opinions, often neglecting factual accuracy and depth. This shift, they believe, has led to increased negativity and superficial coverage, detracting from genuine appreciation of the game and its players.
March Madness Predictions and Bracket Challenges
The conversation takes a competitive turn as Green and Davis engage in a playful yet intense bracket challenge regarding the upcoming March Madness tournament. They specifically debate the performance and potential success of Michigan State.
Baron Davis [12:03]: "They're not going to make the tournament. They're not getting in this year."
Draymond Green [16:31]: "Hot take Michigan State in the final four."
Green counters Davis’s skepticism with confidence in Michigan State’s capabilities, asserting their consistent performance and potential to reach the Final Four regardless of seeding.
Draymond Green [17:24]: "We still Got to close out this big ten... We are going to Final Four."
The exchange underscores their competitive spirit and deep knowledge of college basketball, offering listeners intriguing insights into their predictions and the factors influencing their opinions.
Conclusion and Fan Engagement
As the episode wraps up, Green and Davis emphasize the importance of fan interaction and the value of addressing audience questions. They encourage listeners to continue submitting inquiries for future shows, reinforcing their commitment to engaging with and appreciating their fan base.
Draymond Green [18:09]: "To those that did submit and didn't quite make the show, please submit further and we will continue to try to cycle through, get you on the show, answer some of your questions, make sure we taking care of the fans."
