The Volume what's up everybody? Welcome back to the Draymond Green show with my brother BD the Legend, Aaron Davis. What's happening killer?
Stephen Curry
Let's go bro. I'm feeling good. I'm feeling good game. You always want to steal that first one. Absolutely Y'all played good playoff veteran basketball, but y'all did play in Spurs. There was a lull right of dependency where it's like everybody gotta stay aggressive, right? Everybody gotta stay aggressive. But great game, man, great defense. I mean, y'all defense was on full display. When you talk about holding, yeah, I think it was only a couple people that had double figures on their team. Was it Van Fleek and Sagon? Man, that was just a, that was a great playoff basketball game. I just want to see more, more aggression on the offensive end. Especially from you for sure, you know, Especially from you because like they throwing you the rock and then it's like, all right, Jimmy Butler, Stephen. And then it'll wind up in pod hands, you know what I mean? So I want to see Moses Moody. He came here some big clutch.
Draymond Green
Yes, he did shout out to young Mo money.
Stephen Curry
Y'all gotta remember y'all play. Everybody on the, on the floor is a playmaker when it's hot like that, when they double teaming. But overall great game, man.
Draymond Green
I appreciate it. My dog.
Stephen Curry
By the way, how you feeling after game one?
Draymond Green
I feel great, man. You know, after the playoffs you doing everything. Recovery. I was doing recovery stuff and watching film till 3:30 in the morning and so I feel incredible. I feel absolutely incredible. And then I got up this morning, got another treatment session in, got some core work and stuff in, in the weight room. So body feel amazing, man. It's a very physical game, you know what I'm saying? It's extremely physical. But what I will say is I thought our defense was on point. We gave up 85 points. That's crazy. That's. With 14 turnovers, I think 14 turnovers and 22 offensive rebounds and we gave up 85 points, you know, so you gotta feel really great about the defense because this is a great offensive rebounded team. Like that is their, one of their specialties and stuff. I think, you know, it makes me think back to like Steph Klay, kd them years where like we were the best three point shooting team and teams would come into the game and be like, yo, we going to completely take the three away from them. And we would still end up getting three. That's them with offensive rebound. We're not going to stop them from getting offensive rebounds. Like it's like. But what we do have to do is there were maybe seven of them, eight of them that we get our hands on and you gotta have, you know what I'm saying? Those are the ones. So all of a sudden 22 ain't 22 and it's 14, that's a totally different situation. You know what I'm saying? So I think we can clean up, you know, that stuff like that. Some of the turnovers we had, we could still clean up. But holding that team to 85 points and I don't think we had a great offense tonight, you know, so holding that team to 85 points, I think was a big deal. I think that's something we can build up on in this series for sure.
Stephen Curry
And a team, that offensive rebound like that, I think a big counter to that is you get easy layups. So being able to fast break, get out, like you said, if you can track some of those rebounds, long rebounds, get out on the break, and the way your defense has been steadfast is going to result in. I mean, that's how you get the league, right? That's how you get the 20. And I think when they start cutting away was offensive rebounds, right? Offensive rebounds, a three attempt, offensive rebound, another three attempt. And you know, in the playoffs, it's just hard to overcome a lot of that. But this is that team's mo. Get to the basketball, you know, shoot the ball, get on the glass, try and get tip ins, kick outs for wide open shots.
Draymond Green
Yeah, no, they lead at it for sure, so we gotta be better at it. But also understanding that that is one of their strengths. They gonna do that well taking other stuff away, you know what I'm saying?
Stephen Curry
So that was a hell of a game, though, bro. That was a hell of a game.
Draymond Green
Yes, it was gonna be a fun series. Before we get into that, remember to subscribe to the Draymond Green show with Baron Davis so you don't miss any episodes.
Stephen Curry
And don't forget to follow us on all social media. Draymond show. All right, Dub nation, you know what time it is in your 158 playoff appearance and your 100th playoff win with Steph. How do you feel about that finish?
Draymond Green
Crazy. Number one. 158 playoff games. I just want to give our listeners some perspective at 164. That will be officially two more seasons of NBA basketball that I've played in playoff games. So I'm gonna clap it up myself for that one.
Stephen Curry
I gotta give you that longevity. Longevity.
Draymond Green
I think I've missed, if I'm not mistaken, I think I've missed one playoff game, and that was game six. I mean game five of the NBA finals in 2016. So I'm proud of that. You talk. 100 wins. 100 wins. With Steph, like, man, that just says so much. And, you know, I'm never gonna leave this man out, But I think 99 of them is probably with Klay as well, you know, so it's insane, man. To win that many. That amount of games together had that type of longevity. But the finish to that game was crazy, man. You know, obviously we had a league, you know, they battled back. I think they cut it all the way to two, if I'm not mistaken. And we just made plays down the stretch. Everybody made plays. I made plays on the defensive end. Jimmy made a couple plays Defensively, Jimmy made plays offensively. He came up with some big offensive rebounds. Moses hit two big shots that fade away to put us up seven. And then he hit the three in the corner. BP's drive picking up that foul. He split the pair on the free throws, but that allowed us to get our defense set. Obviously, we saw what the chef got cooking, so it was a huge game down the stretch, man. Everybody who was in there made plays. GP was when he was in there, made plays. We closed that game all crazy. That was big time. Big time closing.
Stephen Curry
Yeah. I love the fact you and Jimmy were in sync on defense. What is your assessment on your first real playoff Jimmy basketball game?
Draymond Green
You know, it's crazy because it feel like we've been playing playoff basketball for longer than one game just because all these games been so meaningful. But what I will say is he had been saying like, yo, I. I get just way more aggressive in the playoffs. And he does the shots that he looks to take, that he's looking to get to. It's just a completely different person. You know, the focus level, the film, watching the study and the preparation, I'm impressed with the whole thing. But, you know, it's good having him out there on the floor because on the court, offensively, we obviously are seeing his greatness, but defensively, we're able to play off each other, you know, and we're able to switch matchups and different things. Like, he can guard anybody. Like, I never, you know, he's strong as hell, so he can guard smart.
Stephen Curry
He is smart defender.
Draymond Green
Oh, he's.
Stephen Curry
Yeah.
Draymond Green
And now what I will say is I've. You know, I always thought Jimmy was smart. You know, I didn't know he was this smart.
Stephen Curry
Yeah, he's highly intelligent. Anybody who get that many breakaway steals, right, deflections, things like that, block shots, he does a little bit of everything.
Draymond Green
He does, man. It's crazy.
Stephen Curry
And it goes unrecognized facts.
Draymond Green
I didn't realize he was that smart.
Stephen Curry
Yeah, he understands time, space, and disruption to the crazy to the tee. And I think that's. That's where you and him, you know, are yin and yang for the warriors defense. Talk about your favorite defensive play from game one.
Draymond Green
I think my favorite defensive play was. It was towards the end of the game, like, we had a. I had a couple favorite ones. Meeting Sengun in the middle of the paint where he thought he was going to throw the body and, like, standing him up. That was a fun play. Just because it's a battle with him, man.
Stephen Curry
Like, yeah, he tough.
Draymond Green
He tough, man.
Stephen Curry
He's super tough.
Draymond Green
He's mobile.
Stephen Curry
He can handle the run.
Draymond Green
Hitting the shot last night. He's a decent athlete. Like, he. And he understands the game, you know what I'm saying? So he's a tough, tough opponent. But in saying that, I thought that one right there just kind of sent a message at that point in the game that was fun. And then also, it's always fun watching Jimmy come around, the guy that ain't looking to get those steals. And that one he got towards the end where I just outleted it to him for the dunk to kind of put the icing on the cake. That was. That was a good one because it just kind of took away any hope that they had, you know, to make any comeback at that point. So, you know, like I said, it was the cherry on top. So that one. That one, I enjoy it.
Stephen Curry
Yeah. Jimmy talked about he loves organized chaos. How do you all thrive in organized chaos?
Draymond Green
Offensively, we have always had this organized chaos because Steph creates organized chaos. Like, you know, Steph does a lot of damage off the ball and. But it's just not like five guys or four guys running around and like, oh, all of a sudden he just pops open, you know what I'm saying? Like, it's organized chaos. Like, it's chaotic and it's all over the place. But I think what Steve did when he first got here was he put rules in place, you know what I'm saying? Like, if this happened, you do this. If that happened, you make this read. And so it's organized, but it's chaotic because it's not like, oh, he just gonna go that way every time, you know what I'm saying? Like, that's just not how our offense work. Like, you may go this way, you may go that way, you may go up, you may go down. Like, that's just the way our offense works. And so when he speaks of organized chaos, it's like, it's chaotic. It's all over the place for sure. But there is more organization than the naked eye may see. But it's just not organized.
Stephen Curry
Yeah.
Draymond Green
And so, yeah, it's read and react. You know, it's like, it's kind of similar to like, if you remember in football when the west coast offense got, you know, was really big with Rich, it got popular.
Stephen Curry
Yeah.
Draymond Green
It was like, oh, if the. They do this, you run this route. If they do that, you run that route. It's. It's kind of more that. And so. And then defensively, it's always been organized chaos because I'll take chances, I'll improvise, you know, I'll do. And now you got two guys that'll do that, you know, with myself and Jimmy. But the thing is, is we don't just take risky chances. You know what I'm saying? We take like control, risk chances.
Stephen Curry
And so opportunities.
Draymond Green
Yeah, for sure, for sure.
Stephen Curry
Opportunistic chances.
Draymond Green
Absolutely. So that's what kind of what Jimmy was getting at it. I agree. I love organized chaos as well. Yeah.
Stephen Curry
Organized chaos on offense is so unpredictable. You keep the defense off balance. And I think that is the beauty to Steph Curry. Right?
Draymond Green
Sure.
Stephen Curry
That's the beauty to Steph Curry. Talk about your favorite three pointer. I know you've seen them all, but which one in game one stands out the most? No, just in game one. Just in this last game one. Because the running 30 footer was sick.
Draymond Green
That was crazy.
Stephen Curry
And then the one he hit over Thompson was even crazier.
Draymond Green
And he hit Fred with the boom bat in transition.
Stephen Curry
Oh, yeah, that was crazy too.
Draymond Green
But I say the one over Jalen Green, the degree of difficulty, I thought that was Thompson.
Stephen Curry
That was Jalen Green.
Draymond Green
The one on the right wing where he was falling out of bounds was over Thompson.
Stephen Curry
That was Thompson.
Draymond Green
No, that was Jalen Green.
Stephen Curry
Oh, that was Jalen Green. Oh, okay.
Draymond Green
The one where he came in from the backcourt was over Thompson, but the one where he was falling out of bounds was over Jalen Green.
Stephen Curry
I thought that was Thompson Garden. I don't know how he got that off.
Draymond Green
The thing is, it's not a problem. He actually work on those shots. Like, it's not like, oh, man, he just this great shooter and he get anything to go and like he work on those shots. So I would say that was my favorite one. Like falling out of bounds.
Stephen Curry
That was crazy.
Draymond Green
But the one over Thompson was so timely and it was so deep.
Stephen Curry
Yeah, it was needed.
Draymond Green
Yeah, it was needed.
Stephen Curry
It was needed.
Draymond Green
It was time.
Stephen Curry
Batman. Batman.
Draymond Green
Batman.

There was another moment in the game between you and Stackhouse. It looked like he was trying to calm you down. Can you share what went down in that moment and then also talk about how significant Stackhouse has been for you this season?
Draymond Green
Stackhouse has been huge for me. Just, you know, the relatability. And then also like Stackhouse has a crazy presence. You know what I'm saying? He a extreme alpha. You know, real alphas respect and appreciate other real alphas. He's helped me so much because in a sense he was a lot like me and so he's helping me grow. From a 50 year old standpoint that's like, yo, I was young, like, and you know, so there are times where like I would say something to somebody during the season and he'll come up to me like, yo, that was great. Now what you go do is you go build them up and you do that. And I'm like, ah, so just helping me become a better leader, helping me see things.
Stephen Curry
Stack was great.
Draymond Green
Even more from a defensive perspective and offensive perspective. Like, Stack doesn't do much with our offense. He does a lot of defense, but he's a great offensive mind. Like, I talk to him all the time. It's crazy because he be like, dre.
Stephen Curry
I'm a great score.
Draymond Green
Yeah, he be like, dre, he say, dre, I love, I love doing our defense like that shit. He he's like, but I'm telling you, like, I'M Elito on the offensive end too, Dre. And so I have offensive conversations with him. And the way he see the game is crazy. Like, I think Stackhouse is going to be an incredible head coach in the NBA.
Stephen Curry
Incredible.
Draymond Green
He going to have to respect the players, number one. They know he's played the game. Stackhouse, he remind me, dre, I scored 17,000 points in this thing, man.
Stephen Curry
Like, for sure. Stackhouse remind me of Jimmy Butler a lot. Offensively a lot. Just can get to any spot. Stackhouse was difficult.
Draymond Green
Yeah, he's been huge. And if some of these people smart, they're gonna be trying to hire him. But I hope they don't pull him away from us because he he grateful.
Stephen Curry
He gone.
Draymond Green
Pull him away from us.
Stephen Curry
He, he, he out of there.
Draymond Green
We lost Mike Brown. That was a huge loss for our coaching staff. But we eventually figured out we got Kenny Akinson. We lost Kenny the man about to be coach of the year. And now Stackhouse is great, man. They can't pull another one away from us. God, man.
Stephen Curry
Summertime different, man.
Draymond Green
They can't pull a stack away from us. Golly. But if they smart this dude, they.
Stephen Curry
Better scoop him up.
Draymond Green
He got it.
Stephen Curry
He's a great basketball mod.
Draymond Green
You know what's crazy is like, I've heard stories about Stackhouse as a player and the way he command respect. It's interesting to watch, like the stories you heard from him as a player, you see like, where he's serious as hell and where a player could get testy and you watch him back down. And it's so important for coaches to like, understand when to go and when to back down and like, let the player feel like a player. And he got that thing, man. He understand that thing to a T. It's been impressive to watch.
Stephen Curry
I always talk about coaching. Coach is all about presence. Being able to motivate. Being able to motivate the players to motivate themselves. Yeah, facts and then be a stabilizer and an information source so when they come to the sideline, you got something for them that's going to make them better or help them win the game. And when you got that knowledge, especially as an offensive weapon that he was and to be able to go through and be on the warriors as a defensive coach, I think the sky's the limit. But it's good to see more former players, especially from my era, getting opportunities like this. Even Bibby taking a head coach job at Sac State, getting back into the game because we are, I feel our culture and our era is more relatable and have more respect for this era of basketball because we not too far off. We could have been the vet or may have been a vet a while ago. So having former players around that can serve as, like, you know, big brother mentor, it raises the bar for your basketball intelligence. Pod and Moody stepped up in the fourth quarter big time. Talk about Moody's defensive presence, Pod's swagger, especially when baiting the rockets. In a review in that play, what do you see from the young fellas?
Draymond Green
Man, it was huge from him baiting into that play. Cause he knew. He knew when he took off that our man wasn't there. And, you know, so they were like, oh, it's challenging. I think I saw Royale Ivey hop up off the bench fast like, yo, we challenging. And they challenged it. And it was a key one because they lost that. When Steph hit that three, they lost that timeout. They lost. Well, they lost their challenge too. And when Steph hit that three, that call could have went either way, you know, so I thought that was huge. But Moses, man, Moses has been. He's taking that step defensively. Like, you know, we keep saying like, yo, he going, he's taking it. And it's good to see the way he's playing on the ball. It changes our deal. Defense spent huge. And then he obviously what he's done hitting the big shots in the fourth quarter was also huge. But his defense, man, his defense has been incredible and that's why he's earned his spot. And then bp, BP just does a lot of things, man. He take charges, he come up with great rotations, he get rebounds, he hit big shots. It reminds me of Austin Reeves. It's funny they with the same shoe company, but it's like that. Everybody see the white boy and they think they just going to take advantage of him. And he always just find a way, man. It's super dope to watch, but both of them young fellas playing well, man. And one thing I will say is I think this series going to turn in Jonathan Kaminga's favor and it's going to be good to see him play well as well. But we need them young guys to play well. And this series is big for sure.
Stephen Curry
Yeah. Hearing Jonathan Kamingiane, I'm watching the game. I'd love to see a Jonathan Kaminga sighting. Cause I have this feeling that he's ready to. He ready to break out and be the difference maker in this series. Talk about what's the work you have to do over the Next couple games, next couple days in order to get ready for game two. And what do you need to improve on from game one to game two?
Draymond Green
I think just improving on, you know, some of the turnovers we can cut out, some of the rebounds we can take away. You know, I think our defensively we can help each other a little better. But getting ready for game two, man, it's a lot more mental work than physical work these days. You know, tomorrow I'll get on the court, get shots up, get moving. But doing the mental work, man, is huge in these playoff series. Um, you know, so that I think that's the biggest thing for us, you know, take a day away. Having those two days in between. Tomorrow we'll have film, great film session. That'll be good for us. Let's go move around the league a little bit before we get out of here. Eight game ones over the weekend. Start with the. One of the most, I say, one of the biggest upsets. I think everybody was expecting the Lakers to roll in if game one at home. Luka's first playoff game had a huge game. Rode the Timberwolves. And it was the exact opposite. The Timberwolves rode the Lakers. They pretty much dominated the game the whole game. I thought this would be a good matchup for the Lakers and Timberwolves. You know, the Timberwolves match up with them well from a defensive perspective. And so I thought it'd be a good matchup and it's going to show to be that, you know, you got game two coming up. I don't foresee the Lakers dropping the first two at home, you know, so that'll be interesting to watch, but thought it was some good games. Julie is 16, 5 and 5. Jaden McDaniels got off 25, 9 and 2, 50% from 3. Ant man had 22, 9 and 8. Luca had 37, but no one else scored over 20 points. Do you still have the Lakers winning series and five?
Stephen Curry
I do. Maybe six. I say the Lakers winning six. Now that game was a bit disappointing. Watching on the Lakers side. No other player came with any playoff intensity. Usually the Lakers, they play, they play defense. They pride themselves on defense. They've been playing better defensively as a team. Shout out to the T Wolves. They were steamrolling them the whole game. I thought there was a lull in the game. Cause they was beating the Lakers so bad that when they started letting the Lakers come back in the game. My whole thing with the T Wolves is you never want to let your foot off the gas. And I saw that, I saw that in the T Wolves. I saw they got complacent when they were up 30. They wind up, they wind up winning by 22 and making some plays at the end. But my main concern is Obviously Luka has 37 points, but those other guys were starting. Oh, it's the playoffs. Let me get it. All you need to do is see a couple shots go in and you don't want an Austin Reeves to just be hitting casual threes and get into a playoff rhythm, right? Or any of the Lakers, other players that hadn't been playing well. So my thing watching this series is I want to see how well the T Wolves sustain that level. And if they come out game two with that intensity, that attention to detail, then it could be a different series. But I did see a drop off in their intensity and I seen them let off the gas. And that just. That concerns me.
Draymond Green
Well, that's an interesting one because I think I can understand, like you definitely want to never want to take your foot off the gas pedal. What I will say is in this league today, where it may differ a little bit from when you play, bro, having a 20 point lead these days, it's like having a nine point lead back in the day because teams shoot. And the speed of the game, like you can cover 20 points like that. So that's what I will say that I've noticed with a big difference from when I first came into the league. And now it's just like comebacks in the league today. They're going to happen, no question. Because it's just, it's different, man. Like the speed of the game, like people covered points so fast in this league today. So that's one thing I will say is a little different.
Stephen Curry
It was more so they, the attitude, the intensity, they just kind of like, oh, man, we in la. Like we just, we cracking. And then it was like, ooh, okay, we up 30. I was like, all right, let him shoot that. No, don't let him shoot that. Yeah, don't let nobody, don't let nobody get in rhythm. Cause it's dangerous, right? It's very dangerous. It becomes a dangerous slope. Let's talk about the Knicks. My Knicks tape. Fourth quarter, 210 run Carl Anthony Towns defense won this game for the Knicks. You pick the Pistons. Do you think the Pistons can bounce back?
Draymond Green
They had that game, man, and I had a great pick, man. And they unfortunately, it just didn't seem like they were ready for what the playoffs bring. It's their first playoff game. So you got to cut them a little slack. But what they will learn is in the playoffs you cannot blow golden opportunities. And they blew a golden opportunity to go into a team that could struggle with confidence a bit that they beat three times during the year or if they won a season series against you going to steel game one and you like yo, the bad boys back on the block could do for a series is huge. And what I saw, I think they need to play Isaiah Stewart more. I also think they need to match Asar Thompson's minutes with Jalen Brunson. When Asar Thompson was on him, he was having a tough time. Other guys on them, they just don't have the size and athleticism to affect Jalen and get the spots. And so I think they need to do that. That's a couple things that adjustments that I think the Pistons need to make. But they let a golden opportunity to get away and saying that the goal is to go win one on the road. And so they still got an opportunity to change that. But Karl Anthony Towns was huge. I thought his defense was great, but aside from his defense was great, his attitude was great. And I'm taking credit for that.
Stephen Curry
Are you?
Draymond Green
Of course. Kyle Anthony Towns has been a different person since.
Stephen Curry
Ever since. Ever since our debacle, debacle with him.
Draymond Green
A different person. And I'm taking credit for that.
Stephen Curry
Yes. He has been a much different leader. He was patient. He let the game come to him. He showed another level of hey, I've been here before, I know what playoff basketball is about. And I think that's how the Knicks caught Detroit on that 210 run. Detroit was playing great, intense regular season basketball. Yes, they were three quarters, three and a half quarters. Right. And then all of a sudden you get punched. You get punched again. You get punched again and you turn it around and everybody else getting socked up on your team and you defeat it.
Draymond Green
Who I think need to make the biggest adjustment on Detroit to the playoff intensity is Cade Cunningham. I saw him driving to the paint a few times and he just went in there like he was just going to get it and it's like, nah, Cade, it's the playoffs now. Like it's different. So I think he going to need to make the biggest adjustment to the playoff intensity and obviously him being the top dog, he got to make it, right? Yeah.
Stephen Curry
And I think also you got to put him in playoff spots.
Draymond Green
Yes.
Stephen Curry
He has to figure out his spot similar to a Jimmy score like Cade Cunningham. You got to put him on the elbow. You Got to put him on the wing in ISO situations when you do need a bucket. And he gotta know, I gotta run in here and try and dunk on somebody, get a foul. He gotta know how to play the clock. Cause there's, there's no excuse for a 210 run in the playoffs when you got a superstar like that. So put him in a position where he may get double team. He can get to the line. But it was really inexperience. Yeah, nah, that's in game one on behalf of Detroit. But shout out to my Knicks tape for showing up and showing like the Knicks is ready and poised to make a run. And they ready for playoff basketball. Moving on. Dame Lillard and Tyrese Halliburton had a back and forth at the end of the game. Did you see that?
Draymond Green
I did see it. And I wonder what Halliburton said because Dame. What people don't understand about Dame is Dame got a temper. He just very controlled. But in saying that, to get Dame to a point where Dame like, and I whoop your ass, like, you had to say something wild or be picking on somebody that you shouldn't have been picking on. Because Dame don't really move like that, like, so I did see it. And in saying that, I am happy that Dame is coming back. So we gonna get to see it. So shout out to Dolla, getting back fast, you know, and just, you know, blood cloth. We talking health. So happy for Dolla. Happy to see him back. And I'm looking forward to that.

Moving right along, Our next segment is where you at? First person, Kyle Kuzma, 21 minutes, 0 stats. Donuts for stats. Kyle Kuzma, where you at? What you say, Dre?
Draymond Green
He'll bounce back. Kuza's a champion.
Stephen Curry
That's right.
Draymond Green
That's the tough one to do, but he a champion. He'll bounce back.
Stephen Curry
Where you at? All the other players on the Magic, where are you at?
Draymond Green
Yeah, KCP gonna have to step up. He is the one with the championship experience. So we're going to need to see KCP step up. And then. Yeah, this has kind of been the problem with the Magic. Like this is, you know, they need a little more. Who else going to do it?
Stephen Curry
So.
Draymond Green
They'Re playing the juggernaut. So this could be a sweep.
Stephen Curry
Cole, Anthony, Black, they got a step up and one of them just gotta take the challenge. You gotta be that third person. All right, where you at? Oh, my boy, Triple J. 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and got whopped.
Draymond Green
Them guys was Molly, man. Let me explain their schedule for real. They went. They played on the 10th, they played at home on the 10th. They flew to Denver the night of the 10th, played at Denver on 11th, flew back to Memphis, played in Memphis on the 13th, flew to San Francisco, played in the playing game against us, lost in San Francisco, flew back to Memphis, played in Memphis, had to leave the next day to go to okc. Them guys were exhausted, man. And where I am at is I was surprised to see Tripp still in the game after the eight minute mark in the third quarter, or anybody for that matter. You knew them guys was fried. That's bad. That's on the coach, that's on the training staff at halftime. They almost should have threw the towel. And y'all running them guys into the ground, that's fake hustle. All right, it's a playoff game. Maybe you go at 8 minute mark of the third quarter, all them guys should have been sitting down. That's where I'm at on that.
Stephen Curry
I totally agree. Sometimes you gotta. You gotta wave the white flag. Especially how they got there. If you get blown out like that, it's almost better than losing at the buzzer. Cause it hurt more, your body hurt.
Draymond Green
More and you gonna be pissing.
Stephen Curry
Yeah, but you sitting there watching the game, you rest and you get to sit a whole half, whole quarter. You know this is not the best I can do, right? You're getting that break. But to keep having those dudes in thinking that where you gonna go from 40 to 20, it was. You can, you can honestly see that the whole team was tired. All right, where you at? Oh, UCLA. My boy. Norman Powell only with 12 points. We need Norm to step up, get more shots or more access to shots. What's your thought on that?
Draymond Green
My thought on that is Norm is the fourth option. Now, I don't know how many points people shots people expect him to get. You got James, who's the system. You got Kawhi, who. We know who he is and zubac is the third option. So I think contributing 12 as the fourth option ain't that bad. Can he do a little more? Possibly. But how many opportunities he gonna have with being the fourth option?
Stephen Curry
I think they need to look for Norman Powell. Clippers do a great job of getting to the free throw line anyway. He's just another person who draws a mismatch, can get to the line. I think running some sets for him because he can catch fire and he can be that swing, swing guy on the back end that can knock down the three and get to the bucket. But you gotta. I think the Clippers need to figure out a way to get that 4, 5th, 6, some type of flow with those other dudes because it's very systemized. James, then Kawhi and then Zubot.
Draymond Green
So who you taking away from though? Because somebody taking away from somebody.
Stephen Curry
No, I don't think Kawhi didn't have.
Draymond Green
A great game though, b. He had 22 points that didn't have a great game. James 32, Zubash 21.
Stephen Curry
That's what I think.
Draymond Green
75 points between three guys.
Stephen Curry
I think they do. I think they defaulted. I think the Clippers hit the default button and they regressed to a lot of James, a lot of Kawhi, a lot of one on one. I felt that they were pressing, they were playing great. They were playing great. That ball needs to move a little bit More.
Draymond Green
I agree. I mean the ball can.
Stephen Curry
They can move that ball, they can bowl that ball a share, they can share a little bit of that sugar. Right. With Kawhi making plays, James making plays. And then who is going to be really the third? Cause Zubak is not going to be your third option in this series.
Draymond Green
If you can make Joker have to guard to take something away on the offensive end, then you probably want him to be the third.
Stephen Curry
But that being the fourth option to me is better because I need more wing scoring. I need more pressure on Westbrook and Braun and Aaron Gordon. So having a normal Powell activated takes nothing away from Zubok.
Draymond Green
I don't know. I just don't know how many touches you can get for so many guys. You know, like that was the problem with. That was the problem with Kawhi coming back. It's never a problem Kawhi coming back. So take that with a grain of salt. But that was going to be Norm's problem always with Kawhi coming back. It's just that he won't get the same opportunities.
Stephen Curry
But he should. That's my thought. I think you get, you get Zubak his 10 to 12 throughout the course of the game to wear Joker down. But you got to activate that third, that third score. Zubak is not a score. Right? You want him. You want him.
Draymond Green
He's a great post scorer.
Stephen Curry
He's not a scorer. He's a good post. He's a good post player, but he's not a. Like he's not posting up Joker and oh, we gonna load up Zubok and he can probably get us 30 on Joker.
Draymond Green
But if he gets you 21 and 13 on Joker, I think that's pretty fucking good.
Stephen Curry
That's really good. But you can get the same 21 and 13 in the fourth position. Cause you're still getting the same amount of shots or looks.
Draymond Green
I don't think they lost it because of Zubox touches.
Stephen Curry
Yeah, they blew the game. Yeah, they blew the game.
Draymond Green
So that's just my opinion.
Stephen Curry
Having Norman Powell activated comes to Clippers. They need that.
Draymond Green
Agreed.
Stephen Curry
They need that.
Draymond Green
Let's see if Norman Powell ends up activated next game. I guarantee you one of those three guys is going to be a drop. We'll watch for that. BD I wanted to get your reaction. Speaking of the Denver Nuggets, they have some towels on their seats and about their playoff run and they say we believe.
Stephen Curry
I mean that's just so somebody get fired. So original and unoriginal. Man. Come on. Denver. Just call me. I'll give you a slogan. This ain't gonna work.
Draymond Green
Somebody should be fired.
Stephen Curry
Somebody should be fired. This don't work in Denver. You gotta come up with something for Denver.
Draymond Green
It don't work. People actually still say to us, like, yo, we still believe. Like, we believe.
Stephen Curry
I say that, too, about the West. I always say, come on, dude, that's a warrior mantra. Like, we always. We still believe. That's kind of like, we'll replace the we believe because we still believe somebody should be fired.
Draymond Green
That's ridiculous. Somebody should be fired.
Stephen Curry
All right, man. Before we get up out of here, I gotta wait. What moment?
Draymond Green
Well, before you wait, what. How about you tell me about this coffee shop that you opened in LA called Oatmeal Radio Cafe before we get out here.
Stephen Curry
Come on, man.
Draymond Green
Can you tell me about that? Cause I know Jimmy Butler's into the coffees. I ain't know BD was into the. Talk to me.
Stephen Curry
Come on, man. We got the lattes, the matcha, the London Fog, Drip coffee and then radio. So, you know, I'm a big fan of coffee. I'm a big fan of music. So we came up with a concept of a Radio Cafe. So radio DJs, music, artist performance and coffee. So coffee being the centerpiece of how we congregate, but music also being that instrument of how people relate. So come to Oatmeal Radio Cafe. Come catch a vibe. We got the best lattes, you know, we got the best London fog, the original London fog. We gonna start calling it a South Central fog, You know what I'm saying? I rock with that west side fog. Nah, but it's cool. It's a lot of artists. We do artist showcase. DJs come through, and we enjoying coffee, we enjoying good drinks, good food, good people. Love it. I love it.
Draymond Green
I gotta trace it out. No doubt.
Stephen Curry
And on top of that, Oatmeal Radio Cafe will be a platform for independent musicians. So you'll be able to go on the platform and see who. Who performing, support they. Music support artists as well.
Draymond Green
Steve Stout. We gotta get la. Excuse me. We gotta get Oatmeal Radio Cafe partnered with Independent Masters. We gotta do that. Stout. That's my OG right there. Stout, you out there? You hear this? Independent Artists. Independent, you know, United Masters.
Stephen Curry
United Masters.
Draymond Green
United Masters. Independent artists. Come on now. Say no more.
Stephen Curry
Come on, we gotta do it. Wait, what? Wait, what? Wait, what? Hey, this probably one of the biggest. Wait, what's we've had all year. Mikko Harrison. Damn. All the homies Nico Harrison, in his exit interview, said, I did know Luka was important to the fan base. I didn't know quite to this level. Whoa. Do you believe him?
Draymond Green
I absolutely believe him because I think in his role, in his mind, you got to understand, Nico came from Nike. He hasn't worked in the NBA for a million years. So in his mind, and see, this is where people can get misconstrued with the NBA. People think everyone wants to win a championship. Not true. And when I say everyone, I mean every team, even every player, every coach. That's not true. But so you kind of get these misconceptions of the NBA of, like, the most important thing at all times is just to win the championship. And I can imagine that that's what Nico's thinking, so. Which is why he keep talking and he keeps saying stuff. Because in his mind, it's like, yeah, but no, this is what I think is best for a championship. And if he could simply just say that and be done with it, I think he would. But that's not the day and age we live in. You have to have an explanation for everything. And so what he's struggling with is he made a move that he thinks is best for them to win a championship.
Stephen Curry
Right.
Draymond Green
That don't really matter to everybody else. And I think that's the lesson that.
Stephen Curry
He'S learning, is that it was an unpopular decision.
Draymond Green
Exactly. Your unpopular decision is what you're going to be remembered by. Because the most important thing in people's mind isn't to win a championship. People are fans of who they're fans of. Like, one of the biggest reasons the NBA is so huge is because people know the players and they're fans of these players. I think that's where Nico's struggling a bit. I think my advice would be, like, about four weeks ago, he should have made that his last time. Talking about Luka and everything else from that point on should just be Luka Doncic. What he did for this franchise was great, but we have players here that we need to focus on, and it's disrespectful to them to not focus on them. And that should have just been his answer four weeks ago and shut everybody up. But he's keep. He kind of. You know, I love Nico, but he's kind of kept saying things, and it's just keeping the story running, and you got to let the story die. And it's just like, there's no right. Like, you can't write it by. There's nothing He's Going to say, that's going to write the ship. So you just got to like, silence it and move on. And I think, you know, maybe in his mind, it's like, all right, we get to the end of the year, move on. But people are going to always ask about Luca and you have to have an answer. That's like, that's it, I'm done with it. And move on. Because the story just keep running. It won't die.
Stephen Curry
You gotta be tapped in all sensors. When you run an operational organization, you gotta be tapped in. Unpopular decision, but it was his decision as the general manager to look at the future of the Dallas Mavericks and say, if I have to exchange one piece for the next, what am I getting in return that can get me over the hump? What am I giving away that I'm going to miss? And so his decision was they would be the biggest team in the NBA. They had the three point shooting, and defense is ultimately what lost him the championship. It wasn't offense, but to your point, you got to. You got to move on. You traded him. That's what you're going to be known for. And so hopefully Dallas and the team that you're building up has that play off in that championship pedigree. Or like a reporter asked him why he shouldn't be fired.
Draymond Green
That's crazy to ask somebody. He should ask the reporter, why? Why do you have a job? Why should you be fired?
Stephen Curry
Why?
Draymond Green
Like, you don't ask somebody that.
Stephen Curry
I would have pulled up one of them.
Draymond Green
But you know what that is to me? You know those reporters that I don't like? That's the definition of kicking somebody while they down. And like you, you, you. Why? Why shouldn't you be fired? Like, like, what do you mean why should not be fired? Like what? What have you done more than I've done that you shouldn't be fired?
Stephen Curry
Right, that's why.
Draymond Green
Stop, that's clownish.
Stephen Curry
Let Nico live in his peace, man. Let him live in his decision. Nico. Empower yourself, move on. Make the right decisions for the Mavs and you got a good foul. They got a hell of a team and a hell of a foundation. When Kyrie get back and they get 100% healthy, they gonna be a force to reckon with. And people are talking shit now, but they could be the Houston back in the two seed, back in the three seed next year.
Draymond Green
Absolutely. That's a wrap from this episode of the Draymond Green show with the legend with all the isms, Baron Davis, my dog. I appreciate you, brother.
Stephen Curry
Love bro. Good luck. Game two. Let's get that victory.
Draymond Green
We need it. Get greedy Dubs. Peace.

Podcast Summary: The Herd with Colin Cowherd – "The Draymond Green Show w/Baron Davis: Reaction to Warriors' Game 1 WIN vs. Rockets"
Release Date: April 22, 2025
In this episode of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, hosted collaboratively by iHeartPodcasts and The Volume, Draymond Green and Baron Davis delve into an in-depth analysis of the Golden State Warriors' impressive victory in Game 1 against the Rockets. The discussion spans various aspects of the game, player performances, strategic adjustments, and broader NBA playoff insights. Notably, Stephen Curry joins the conversation, adding his perspectives alongside Draymond Green.
Draymond Green opens the discussion by praising the Warriors' defensive efforts throughout Game 1. Highlighting the team's ability to limit the Rockets to 85 points despite the latter's strong offensive rebounding:
Draymond Green [04:15]: "We gave up 85 points, that's crazy. With 14 turnovers and 22 offensive rebounds, we have to feel great about our defense."
Stephen Curry echoes this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of defensive plays in maintaining control:
Stephen Curry [05:44]: "A team with offensive rebounding like that... you get easy layups. Our steadfast defense results in 20-point swings."
Despite the defensive triumph, the Warriors faced challenges offensively. Draymond notes the struggle to capitalize on scoring opportunities:
Draymond Green [04:25]: "We didn't have a great offense tonight, but holding them to 85 points was a big deal."
Stephen Curry adds that increasing offensive aggression, especially from younger players, is crucial:
Stephen Curry [05:30]: "I want to see more aggression on the offensive end, especially from you, Dre."
Draymond shares insights into his post-game recovery regimen, underscoring his commitment to peak physical condition:
Draymond Green [04:45]: "After the playoffs, doing recovery stuff and watching film till 3:30 AM... I feel absolutely incredible."
He further elaborates on his physical preparation:
Draymond Green [04:50]: "Got another treatment session, some core work, weight room. The game is very physical."
Stephen Curry provides a nuanced analysis of Game 1, focusing on defensive synchronization and offensive execution:
Stephen Curry [07:03]: "I love the fact you and Jimmy were in sync on defense."
He commends Draymond's defensive plays and urges for more offensive contributions from key players like Moses Moody:
Stephen Curry [07:30]: "Moses hit two big shots that faded away to put us up seven."
Draymond highlights the emerging talent within the team, particularly praising Moses Moody and bp (Buddy Press):
Draymond Green [24:27]: "Moses has been taking that step defensively... bp just does a lot of things, man."
Stephen Curry concurs, noting their pivotal roles in the Warriors' dynamics:
Stephen Curry [26:00]: "Moody's defensive presence, bp's swagger... both play well."
The conversation shifts to Jonathan Kuminga, with both hosts expressing optimism about his breakout potential in the series:
Stephen Curry [25:30]: "I have this feeling that he's ready to break out and be the difference-maker in this series."
Draymond Green [25:00]: "This series is going to turn in Jonathan Kaminga's favor and it's going to be good to see him play well."
Draymond emphasizes the need for strategic improvements heading into Game 2, focusing on reducing turnovers and enhancing defensive cohesion:
Draymond Green [26:27]: "Improving on some of the turnovers we can cut out... defensively, we can help each other a little better."
Stephen Curry adds that mental preparation is as vital as physical readiness in playoff series:
Stephen Curry [26:45]: "It's a lot more mental work than physical work these days. Tomorrow we'll have a great film session."
The hosts analyze the Timberwolves' unexpected dominance over the Lakers, suggesting adjustments for the Lakers to bounce back:
Draymond Green [28:17]: "The Lakers need to adjust and not drop the first two at home."
Stephen Curry expresses concern over the Timberwolves' ability to sustain intensity:
Stephen Curry [29:00]: "I want to see how well the T Wolves sustain that level. If they come out game two with intensity, it could be a different series."
Highlighting the Knicks' strong performance, particularly Carl Anthony Towns' defensive prowess:
Draymond Green [31:42]: "Carl Anthony Towns' defense won this game for the Knicks."
Stephen Curry emphasizes the importance of maintaining playoff intensity:
Stephen Curry [33:15]: "He has been a much different leader... showing another level of playoff basketball."
The discussion touches on the Clippers' performance, particularly Norman Powell's role:
Stephen Curry [40:55]: "Norman Powell can be that swing guy on the back end that can knock down the three and get to the bucket."
Draymond Green [41:18]: "Contributing 12 as the fourth option ain't that bad. Can he do a little more? Possibly."
Draymond praises Stackhouse's impact as a coach, highlighting his leadership and basketball intelligence:
Draymond Green [21:10]: "Stackhouse is going to be an incredible head coach in the NBA."
The hosts discuss the importance of leadership development within teams, especially with former players transitioning into coaching roles:
Stephen Curry [24:35]: "Having former players around serves as big brother mentors, raising the bar for basketball intelligence."
A significant portion of the discussion revolves around GM Nico Harrison's controversial trade decisions, particularly involving Luka Doncic:
Draymond Green [49:18]: "Your unpopular decision is what you're going to be remembered by... people are fans of the players."
Stephen Curry [51:50]: "He should be known for what he's trading for... Dallas could be a force with that foundation."
The hosts critique media interactions and the challenges GMs face in balancing team-building decisions with fan expectations:
Draymond Green [49:50]: "Let Nico live in his peace... Empower yourself, move on."
As the episode wraps up, Draymond and Stephen share final thoughts on game dynamics, upcoming challenges, and team preparations. They emphasize the Warriors' determination to secure victories in the ensuing playoff games and the importance of continuous improvement.
Draymond Green [53:03]: "Good luck. Game two. Let's get that victory."
Stephen Curry [53:07]: "Get greedy Dubs. Peace."
