that but my thing is if you stay in la and let's say he takes a lower than he wants offer does that still put you in the category of oklahoma city and san antonio and denver and minnesota like here's the thing lebron james right now i would guess he wants to hoist the larry o' brien trophy or put himself in the championship fast lane it's not simply about playing just to play he wants to play to win he wants to play to win championships so if you're going to take less you're going to take less to put yourself in a position to have an opportunity to hoist that larry o' brien trophy one more time

yes i do why not why not if the most important thing is winning championships right and adding to your legacy yes there has to be life outside of la and i understand we know how this works you know his family loves la you know lebron loves la there's a reason that he went there in the first place but yet you also understand he's not signing another five year deal so wherever he's going as far as a one year deal or two year deal or whatever it may be one plus one however you look at it it's not long term so it's not like he's leaving la if he goes somewhere else he at this point i think it's about him putting himself in the best position to win an nba championship anything outside of that you might as well go ahead and hang it up

i didn't think this a month ago but then the knicks who have a roster with complimentary parts kind of kind of pivoted to cat taking the ball out of brunson's hands giving brunson better late game energy and making a little bit of a yokic move where cat now has quadrupled his assists he you know he's a little bit of a point center and i'm like okay now brunson doesn't dribble the ball a thousand times by the end of a series he looks shot very harden like i kind of think now injuries play a part i don't know if they're built to beat oklahoma city i don't think they are i think the knicks can give san antonio trouble i do to you if they can

give san antonio trouble maybe and the thing that you just said and i know mike brown really well mike brown was my pd coach when i was here in san antonio way back when and what people forget when we talk about how much the knicks offense has evolved people forget before he went to sacramento right he was in golden state and you know who was in golden state steph curry you know who else was in golden state draymond green and what you see is sort of a parallel as to how cat is being used to how they use draymond green how jalen brunson is being used to how they use steph curry we all know what steph curry is capable of but what they've done really in this evolution of their offense they put jalen brunson off the ball he is running a lot off the ball and like you said what we've seen in past years is jalen brunson and iso situations iso heavy situation constant pounding of the ball and then by the time the series is over that wears you down yeah they're using cat now as a hub which is what a lot of today's nba is they're using him as a hub in that pinch post area and giving him an opportunity to use his total skill set whether it's lowering his head and getting to the rim or like you said using his ability to facilitate the fact that he's quadrupled his assist i think speaks volumes to how he's being used now as opposed to how he was being used earlier

in the regular season so i said you know sometimes especially in my business i'm guilty of this i'm watching the second half of game one and i'm like oh my god the world's changing i'm watching the whole world in the nba is changing but i said you know this antonio there's an old saying for when people get older and they have a lot of money you can't take it with you you know go buy a big boat go have fun you can't take it with you which obviously people leave it to their heirs and whatever but the point being is sam presti has all these pick swaps draft picks and a deep bench and my take is what's it matter if you can't stop wemby what does it matter my take it fourth guy off the bench is irrelevant when you can't and my watching holmgren and hartenstein flummoxed hardenstein just has to tackle him holmgren doesn't want any part of it my take is i would give up whatever i got to give up to get giannis i don't care because gobert's not athletic enough holmgren's too skinny and wemby's too damn tall i would just i don't care what it is is giannis

the answer here's the thing we have talked about this me and my co host on siriusxm rob perez have discussed this for weeks if you go back to a year ago there was questions about the future of the oklahoma city thunder except those questions were around j dub at the time right now those questions center around chad holmwood there is one guy in the nba there is one guy in the nba that has the athleticism the power the strength and the mindset to match up with victor wembanyama there's one guy now there are other guys that may make it difficult that brings something different to the table but giannis antetupo is that one guy that that is why as i'm watching this series there is something so much bigger at play here imagine what this looks like colin if oklahoma city doesn't get by the san antonio i know that's right if they don't and if they don't if you're sam presti you have all of these draft picks right you have a chet holmgren you have a j dub to go out and get the one guy the one guy that you feel can combat what san antonio is bringing to the table and that's victor women

that's this is exactly what we've i mean i'm literally watching that second half and i'm like don't overreact don't go crazy don't do recency bias and i and i even said it's one thing if oklahoma city lost in seven games but what if you know if dylan harper's injury may change this i said what if san antonio won sort of like they beat minnesota where it may have gone six but it was like it wasn't that close like right that's where presti has to act if you lose in seven it goes either way you maybe you don't do that but yeah i said the winner the quiet winner in these playoffs is a milwaukee bucks front office because they make it a haul no question

i feel like the winner in this i could not agree with you more y' all as you were watching game one and watching wemby go for forty one and twenty four and look like a player that there's not a matchup for as the milwaukee bucks are sitting at home watching this game giannis stop is skyrocketing and he's not even playing he's not even playing but simply watching what victor wembanyama is doing on that court it gives you a need and a want for giannis antetokounmpo and again i know thunder fans and their thought processes why are we talking about training and the series isn't over i get that but you can't look at this series right now and it's not simply about this series for me colin it's about moving forward this is the worst that victor when i was going to be this is the worst that the san antonio spurs are going to look he's not going to age the wrong way so he's not going to get less experienced he's not going to get skinnier he's not going to get weaker he's only going to get better add more reps championship dna all these this is the worst that victor wendy i was going to look you better get somebody out there that could combat it because this is going to be a problem not just for the oklahoma city thunder but for the nba for the

quarterback to say so and the article says that basically he did the sean hannity podcast it says here hannity fond over belichick he also did what was the other one he did pardon my take apparently that was very favorable it kind of you know gave bill a runway i didn't hear it but that's what they say so and it is true north carolina is a bit of a mess four and eight did not have a player drafted you know i've been critical for years on bill's college personnel skills here's the thing with belichick he didn't need to spend anything for twenty years in new england so like he didn't treat the media well i thought he could have done a better job what i'm about to say is not criticism it actually to me is utterly fascinating think about this kyle shanahan's gotten the super bowls with jimmy garoppolo and brock purdy annie reid got to five nfc championships prima homes my friend dave wot won playoff games in chicago with steve walsh and got to the playoffs twice with jay feedler in miami if you take out tom brady just one player from belichick's career cleveland new england carolina his team's average nineteen a game and he's eighty eight and one hundred eleven it's fascinating kyle shanahan could take you could get you could you could have brisket and put cleats and a helmet on it he would get you to the playoffs it's crazy you got andy reid you got i mean i've seen coaches mitch trubisky got to the playoffs twice with matt nagy and you guys have all assured me matt nagy's no good he literally got trubisky to the playoffs twice in a division where kirk cousins matt stafford and aaron rodgers were in their prime i'm fascinated by belichick whose career i'm not talking as an assistant i know he's a smart guy but his career is basically sub not only sub five hundred it's fire that guy without brady i don't know what to make of it i've thought a lot about it and i and i i said when he went to carolina i said i didn't love his drafts i don't know if he's very good with college personnel i hope he wins i didn't judge him on the jordan hudson relationship i'm like people are attracted to who they're attracted to and people are attracted for various reasons she may like his grumpiness and his power i don't know he may like we can figure it out the point being is i'm not going to judge people on what they're attracted to so i haven't judged them there i i want him i want he and mike lombardi to win i think it's more interesting for college football the acc needs another good team for miami and notre dame to play club's into play here's belichick he told sean hannity he he always wanted to do this college thing always wanted to coach in college and never really had the opportunity to and the opportunity came up you know north carolina is a great brand it's a great school we're very much trying to run an nfl model we're where we have a general manager mike lombardi head coach our scouting coaching processes is aligned but they're they kind of flow separately until they you know come together and and our thing is what it's always been is to develop players and develop team i mean it's fascinating i know he's smart i know he's the best defensive coach ever i know he can build a culture i mean if you go look at new england he took edelman who was a college quarterback and turned him into a hall of fame level wide receiver tom brady six round turn him into the greatest helped turn him into the greatest player ever he had the best special teams player ever in matt slater coach lawrence taylor like i know he's smart and yeah i can't you just take brady out and it's like manage the titanic it's crazy and i've seen all sorts of coaches get like backup level quarterbacks to the playoffs i can't explain it i
