herd podcast all right last hour for me this week j max in tomorrow for an hour world baseball classic starts it is great to have you in got a little trade today dj moore from the bears going to the buffalo bills along with a fifth round pick bears get a number two pick a lot of people think that's too rich and that chicago made off with a heist i think buffalo got a really good player and the bears got a really good pick and dj moore has a missing start forever so i like it speaking of picks big trade yesterday rams matt staffer's aging gave up a first round pick and a third round next year to get trent mcduffie the great pick and this is what the rams do that now makes nine out of the last ten years the rams have traded their first round pick yet they still remain super bowl favorites and have only one losing season in that window how do they do it how is it possible deepest roster next to seattle in the league maybe philadelphia how do they do it in that same time period the jets have had twelve first round picks the raiders have had eleven and they both stink it's not that the rams undervalue picks but is it possible the rest of the league mostly overvalues picks we've talked about this with the dallas cowboys cowboys fall in love with their picks they don't spend much money in free agency the cowboys draft somebody then they pay him and they often pay him two or three times i don't like that there are just many ways to be great in this league the seahawks do it through the draft and then go small game hunting the rams get a lot of picks in the mid rounds like puka and kyron williams and then they go big game hunting devonte jalen ramsey matt stafford trent mcduffie yesterday it's not like the rams are giving away the first round picks for nothing they got golf jalen ramsey mcduffie matt stafford so they're getting something for it but success and excellence in the nfl once again is not just one framework you know it cracks me up when you go on tiktok it's like here's how to solve your liver here's how to absolutely invest this one will guarantee a longer life it's a bunch of grifters there's a lot of different ways some people have good genetics some people have bad genetics some people eat like crap and look great at sixty there's no one way to do anything hell tim burton and christopher nolan both made a batman movie they both worked okay and they were very different so you know the rams do it one way they're trading the first rounder the buffalo bills just went out and took a big swing i would say this for the chicago bears i think part of moving dj moore is open up space for max crosby max crosby is so much better than anybody you're going to draft at the end of the first round what the chicago bears are doing so i'm not against or for trading first round picks but if i get max crosby jalen ramsey in his prime matt stafford jared goff trent mcduffie absolutely okay so it's funny about this we've said this before is that you know everybody likes their president that they vote for right everybody hates senators except sometimes their own you know we're all that way so people loved michael jordan michael jordan spent a lot of time at the free throw line he once averaged twelve free throws a game nobody complained three times kobe bryant averaged ten free throws a game nobody complained about it kd crickets he averaged early in his career over ten free throws a game crickets his game is fluid it's clean catch and shoot fits everywhere but people are really up in arms because sga shoots a lot of free throws but he's shooting last night two in the fourth quarter that was it two and i've never heard a guy get more flack for shooting two in the fourth quarter here's knicks coach in a loss very good game on sga one of the areas obviously is the free throw line you know sga
Kelvin Washington
is he's a tough cover and he does a great job of convincing the referees probably better than anybody in the
Jason McIntyre
league that you know he's getting hit so what people in the nba are trying to convince me of is is that either the league's rigging it for a skinny kid who's not very verbal from a tiny market okc that's what adam silver wants let's have our powerhouse be in our smallest market or you're trying to convince me that the refs on a nightly basis all get fooled and i'm not going to i'm not going to go there if you don't have shaq's power or lebron's body or ants vertical and you're sixty six and a buck ninety four you have to manipulate and you have to find your game he's a wiry six' six a buck ninety five so for the record six' six and a buck i weigh a buck ninety five and i'm six' one and a half he's thin in a pro athlete league he does get bumped a lot and also i think when you don't have certain athletic gifts and he doesn't have big hops you know you're not doing tomahawk slams tom brady why was he so good pre snap same with drew brees and peyton manning because they had to be why was philip rivers good pre snap because he had to be so i think the truth about this with sga is you don't like his game you love michael's game you love kobe's game and they lived at the free throw line you just don't like his game it's not flashy it's not fun to watch right and it's not but i mean kevin durant michael kobe games people love lived at the free throw line you know when i look at sga you know what i see i see a football player i say i see jsn the wide receiver for the seattle seahawks neither are truly gifted athletically sga or jsn both though can manipulate coverage both ascending statistically every year they get better so they clearly work on their craft work ethic manipulation iq eq that's what i see jsn's always open and sga often gets to the free throw line how how do they do it because they're smart guys and they use their body and they manipulate other players when you don't have major hops you don't worry about getting in the air you worry about getting other people in the air so sga does a great job to compromise defenders so and for the record sga's game is very unique it fooled the clippers front office they gave him away he was only the number eleven draft pick so this guy's been fooling the league and tricking the league and making defensive players putting them in compromising spots let's give him credit it's not about the refs it's not about the whistle the clippers good front office didn't see it first ten picks in the draft did not see it it's like jsn he's arguably the best player out of that draft but he wasn't a burner he doesn't run past people so and i i we you know we love to do that for the record i just i want to show i mean i'm not saying sga doesn't have style here he was after the game
Kelvin Washington
yeah late game they were like sending a lot of doubles and i just felt like i hadn't got a shot in a long time and i wanted to like kind of have my imprint on the game especially late so i tried to just like a screen came so i tried to reject it to get space and then og was like chasing to cut me off so i knew i had to step back stepped into it and knocked you know
Jason McIntyre
by the way why do some things look so good on some people and so bad on other people that jacket just would not work with me at all but sga pulls it off just like he pulls off getting to the free throw line about seven eight nine times a game or two times in the fourth quarter last night let's give him credit and jsn credit for getting open all right brian baldinger is around the corner here on a thursday he was at the combine who jumped out to him that live in chicago is

public dot com disclosures imagine never buying gas again ev's are as easy to charge as your phone and perfect for everyday life drive daily with confidence everywhere you go most americans drive forty miles a day most ev's are equipped with two hundred to four hundred miles of range they've got fewer parts fewer repairs and fewer headaches with hundreds of new and used ev models available today there's an ev to fit every lifestyle and every budget i love my electric vehicle it's easy no more gas stations the way forward is electric learn more at electric for all dot org nfl for thirteen seasons played every offensive line position you know him for baldies breakdowns he's currently on the third floor of the nfl network was at the combine now he's grinding down film okay so let's let's start with dj moore yeah goes to buffalo along with a fifth round pick bears get a second round pick i will argue people are roasting the bills i will argue this dj moore with josh allen and already excellent tight ends and a great slot receiver is going to be very productive arguably more productive than he was in chicago which has you know roma dunze and luther burton and colston loveland and a very profound run game so my take is maybe a second rounder is rich but i think dj moore is a number one receiver is he not he is
Kelvin Washington
he is and we argued this colin maybe not on this show but you know we argued in the off season that buffalo needed to upgrade the receiver position khalil shakira led them in receiving last year with seventy four catches but it was a big and then it was just a tight end and then it was basically a drop off to nothing the dj moore i mean and shakira is a good player like you could trust him but dj morris a number one and you know he was just in an offense where he wasn't the featured guy colson loveland became the feature guy yep roman dunesday is a really good player luther burton came on zacchaeus played well they spread the ball around and so i think you know josh is going to really enjoy having dj moore out there to throw to when he came out of maryland honestly i thought he was a running back with wide receiver skills he from the lower body he breaks a lot of tackles he's very powerful and he's you know he can he's good after the catch
Jason McIntyre
trent mcduffie i understand why the rams got him are you surprised the chiefs let him go he's arguably on any given sunday their best player outside
Kelvin Washington
of mahomes i saw an emoji from speed steve spagnola it was you know i mean he's like it's not good you know he lost they lost his best secondary player one of the things that allowed spags in kansas city for the last four years to blitz like he did was because mcduffie could hold up on the outside you know when the rams made a trade like this for jalen ramsey they won a super bowl two years later like they got a guy that can match up with jackson smith and jigba right now they got a guy that can play any style of defense you want in the slot out wide he could travel with the receivers he's a very good football player but the chiefs are in salary capella they were going to have to pay him they probably are looking at other positions to pay the right tackle maybe they drafted whatever so you know they get some value from mcduffie and then the rams get a player they really covet yeah so i want to
Jason McIntyre
ask you about some of these prospects because this is what you do francis maui noah out of miami to me if mendoza wasn't available when i watch him it looks like i mean everybody in this league needs an offensive lineman i mean there's almost no team that doesn't need help all right you played the position and you played every position on the o line what do you make of the miami hurricane i went
Kelvin Washington
down to watch him in spring ball last year colin mario cristobal runs a training camp and an all season it reminded me of playing for the cowboys in the eighties i mean it was three hours it was contact it was every drill he's got jason taylor coach of the defense line like it was a battle every day but marino is a stud i when i watch him though i feel like i'm watching zach martin at notre dame or quentin nelson at notre dame playing tackle knowing that they're going to be an all pro guard and i just when i watch him i feel like he's going to be an all pro guard and that's not a bad thing i mean you know seattle probably doesn't want a super bowl without graves able to tyler booker stepped in and played right guard for the cowboys and upgraded the position he said he could play anywhere wherever he plays he's going to he's going to be happy but he looks like an all pro guard to me right now
Jason McIntyre
okay what do you make of arm length discussion on you know reuben bain spencer funnel of utah everybody said well the arm length and it's easy to be cynical but bill polian years ago told me one of his biggest whiffs ever early was on an old lineman with short arms what do you is reuben bain less of a draft pick to you because of that we all
Kelvin Washington
watched the national championship game and indiana beat miami the best player on the field that day was reuben bain like he was everywhere and he really showed his versatility he beat the guards inside for sacks on fernando mendoza the way that he goes and turns the corner and bends and his suddenness to his game it sort of nullifies some of the short arm arguments there's always outliers bill parcells did not draft mike singletary because he was too short like there's always outliers in his position in football and i feel like ruben bane is just he's been coached by jason taylor they practice hard every day he's a tough kid when he goes to the nfl he's not going to believe just how easy these like he's going to look for extra work is what he's going to do during the week getting ready for these games but i don't think it's going to affect him the way that he plays the game right now
Jason McIntyre
jeremiah love i said kansas city now has two first round picks i could see and a multiple five i think they have like three fives or something and i could see them most teams want to move down i could see them giving up a five to move up two spots to get jeremiah love there's a little jar gibbs to me is what he looks like what do you make of the notre dame running back how good is he i
Kelvin Washington
love him i love the guy and he catches the ball like a wide receiver in fact at the combine after the running backs all ran and tested he stayed out there along with his his partner price they caught passes as a wide receiver for thirty minutes before the next wave of players came on the field as soon as you turn the tape on honestly colin like sometimes your eyes just don't deceive you as soon as you turn a notre dame game on you see his speed you see the burst you see the speed if you want to put him in the category of saquon and bijan and jameer i think that's fair and kansas city like the offense went backwards last year and nothing against pacheco and the guys they've had there but if they put a star you know next to patrick mahomes that offense could come back to life pretty quickly yeah
Jason McIntyre
at the combine anybody jump out to you was there any college kids that just landed
Kelvin Washington
well for you that kenyan sadiq looks just too smooth like you know you go watch him block down the field but like you i didn't even look at the clock when he ran i knew it was four four like you could it's just a difference he just is so smooth in everything he does he jumped off obviously sonny styles and you know and you know what he did was at six five and two hundred forty four pounds and to run the way that he did move the way that he did i'm just imagining these quarterbacks trying to throw the ball over his reach in the middle of the field he's going to take away a lot of throws in the middle of the field just in pass coverage alone but he did and then you know obviously david bailey no to be two hundred and fifty one pounds to run a four or five like he did i mean all of his measurables and his size i'm not saying he's von miller von miller is a special cat but all of his testing reminds you of von miller and his you know you talk to vaughn about pass rush colin he'll tell you the most important quality bar none is your first step quickness and get off the ball if you want to win the one hundred meter dash you got to have a great start this kid's got the best start of any of these pass rushers out there it's a good it's a good quality to have if you want to get after quarterbacks okay here's
Jason McIntyre
my mock draft a lot of p i had a gm tell me that the edge rusher for auburn is a tweener and i have him too high many people think lemon doesn't have the speed to be a top twelve thirteen fourteen pick do you have any concerns with lemon yeah i mean i just
Kelvin Washington
like i voiced earlier like i i thought he really struggled against notre dame in press coverage he didn't look like he had the physical quality in order to beat that now now you can learn that you can learn he didn't have a great release and he didn't have great strength getting off the jam but you know everything else kind of shows up for him but that'd be my one concern and you can pick apart all these guys and that's what this process is all about and so you watch him every saturday you watch more games than i've watched of usc but when i see him again certain games certain teams i have a little
Jason McIntyre
bit of concern yeah all right brian baldinger baldi's breakdowns are so good he's at the nfl network this is what he does look at that yeah all
Kelvin Washington
right man thank you all right buddy
Jason McIntyre
talk to you soon okay yeah mark few jason tim brian baldinger yeah i sent that mock draft out to a few people a couple of them thought i was a little you know you got to have a usc guy in the top fifteen that's almost a rule right j mac with the news no
Kelvin Washington
no no turn on the news this is the herd line news all right
Colin Cowherd
let's revisit the big story of the day and that is the dj moore trade colin everybody is excited in buffalo getting a star receiver and a fifth round pick in exchange for the sixtieth overall pick in the draft a lot of ways you could go here i think you know let's tackle the bills for a moment you know they just watched the new england patriots leapfrog past them win the division yep go to the super bowl and you're like whoa wait wait wait a minute we got josh allen here i don't want to say it's a panic move but you know when you fire your coach gm's now on the clock he had to do something i think this is a splash move to get a guy a wide receiver ready to come in and contribute i like it i don't love it i think they have some holes on defense colin it's an aging defense
Jason McIntyre
well they don't have a pro bowler
Colin Cowherd
on defense it's also a problem where would you peg josh allen's bills now that they grab dj moore where would you peg them in the hierarchy in the afc
Jason McIntyre
i mean i think offensively they have all the components to be great um yeah you know i think they're a top four team in the afc i mean you know we complain about i it's hard for me to fault aggressive so i get dj moore yeah and i get a fifth round pick maybe you could have got i mean do you think you can get dj more in a fifth round pick for just a four you've got to give up something and they've got a first and a third and you know they're going to use those on defense they also drafted defense last year so you know i i think everybody's selling their stock on kansas city i don't buy it if they get if they get a running back and an edge rusher and a right tackle they're going to be good and i think buffalo's
Colin Cowherd
going to be three big ifs though
Jason McIntyre
come on well no i mean i
Colin Cowherd
mean jacksonville doesn't need that much the the texans don't need that kansas city
Jason McIntyre
has two first round picks and what they need is readily available a corner an offensive tackle and an edge rusher that's probably those are i mean they don't really need they need a running back a corner they need an offensive tackle and an edge and they're going to address all those all of those with their first four or five picks
Colin Cowherd
so so hierarchy are we doing patriots broncos they if i did my hierarchy
Jason McIntyre
if i did hierarchy today i would say rams best team let me just
Colin Cowherd
do afc first no i don't want
Jason McIntyre
to do afc okay fine so hold on i would say rams seattle i i'd put chicago three i think i'd probably put buffalo for denver buffalo over
Colin Cowherd
denver
Jason McIntyre
yeah okay buffalo for denver five
Colin Cowherd
chargers sorry that's something i don't think
Jason McIntyre
that's terrible chargers six new england seven detroit eight green bay nine and texans
Colin Cowherd
ten no jags nobody from that eight
Jason McIntyre
nine i mean the jags couldn't win a home playoff game so that's disappointing
Colin Cowherd
man all of a sudden it feels like the league is a the parody after the i feel like the rams are at the top i mean dude i don't know that seattle can be too colin so they're losing their oc kenneth walker it sounds like rashid shahid's gone but those are integral pieces man
Jason McIntyre
no walker had been injured for years he had a great playoff run you don't give a super bowl mvp a long deal like i was talking to somebody about it this week and they're like listen it's the perfect time to move off him he was great for the playoff run got your trophy but he has been dinged up for most of his career fair all right let's
Colin Cowherd
move on to oh man this has got ugly quickly russell wilson versus sean payton remember that messy breakup oh boy well you know i didn't realize this russ i russ went on a podcast and addressed the feud with peyton and honestly russell wilson sounds like he's still very angry here we go i don't
Kelvin Washington
say much i never hardly ever say anything i think there's a time and place but sometimes you get fatigued of people talking about you just so you were like you mentioned you were all human you know but it's one thing for people that maybe aren't in the field to me when you've been in the ring or you've been you know on the same side of this and that and i got the same amount of rings as you got meaning sean right like yeah and listen i got a lot of respect for him as a play caller this and that but to take a shot i don't i don't like you know i don't think
Jason McIntyre
it's necessary i think that's fair i
Colin Cowherd
don't know that i've ever heard an nfl player play the rings argument we got a lot of rings that's an nba argument isn't it well i think
Jason McIntyre
i think it's a fair argument is that i got a ring you got a ring you know let's not i think that's fair i think i think russell's taken a lot of heat some of it deserved he usually doesn't fire
Colin Cowherd
back but this is about as ornery as you'll catch him right yeah and
Jason McIntyre
i think everybody has a right to defend themselves and russell's taken a lot of crap through the years and he never fires back he has every right to have an opinion and sean tends to lead with his chin i mean sean and russell were never going to work their personalities are opposites one's very optimistic one is hard you know i mean they're just different stages generationally different it was never going to work and but russell's taken a lot of crap for years and never fired back so
Colin Cowherd
i do like this yeah good for him he's going not not full heel but he is i mean right now he's a punching bag he has been for a couple years because he hasn't been a good quarterback would it have been fair if russ said something like listen i didn't play great but sean payton was a jerk to me would that have been a fair statement because remember at the end they were like hey take a pay cut or we're dumping you remember that it was i think it was after like a buffalo game or something like that and it was just russ was just like whoa
Jason McIntyre
what's going on here i mean that's
Colin Cowherd
fair you usually take the high road people take shots at you all the
Jason McIntyre
time you don't ever fire it's but if if it was somebody that obsessed over it and they were high profile i'd probably fire back you know i think everybody has a right to some people are very thin skinned i'm lucky i'm not but i know you know i mean russell has not countered on about ninety five percent of the things people have said he has a right five percent of the time to fire
Colin Cowherd
back so the only problem with playing the whole rings thing is peyton's still around denver's got a pretty good team they had number one seed peyton may get another ring and then he could fire back at russ and russ has nothing so i didn't like the rings angle i think he should have just been more forthright and just said what he felt anyways final story is your boy kyler murray colin waiting waiting waiting will he go to minnesota will he go to indy what's going to happen he will not go to the jets we hope anyways before he went nfl back in twenty nineteen kyler was drafted by the oakland athletics and opted to declare for the nfl draft well a's gm david forst said the team is always open to him exploring a return to baseball if kyler murray doesn't get any looks he wants from any good teams we know he's going to get a tiny salary because he's getting paid out do you think there's any world where he just says i'm going to
Jason McIntyre
go play baseball the idea that you can just go you know what um i'm just going to switch sports don't buy it wait a minute baseball is highly skilled it's never been deeper and more global there's never been more pitching talent there's never been more guys throwing turbo sliders and four sim seamers and guys throwing ninety seven miles an hour the idea that you can just walk in and play not going to happen
Colin Cowherd
well i guess the counter would be the oakland a's have been pretty horrible for many years i don't know i don't know what's up with their minor league system but if you've got kyler murray you want to showcase him do you not i mean i think that would be great for baseball hey look we got even if he flops who cares we got his numbers from his his time at oklahoma listen he's a
Jason McIntyre
great athlete but i you know when deion sanders went into baseball it wasn't a global sport like it is now i mean the talent in baseball is insane i can remember growing up in the in in in the seventies and eighties if a guy threw outside of nolan ryan or jr richard if a guy threw like ninety eight it was staggering everybody throws ninety seven now everybody i mean it's hard to find a guy i mean there there are no guys throwing eighty on a staff you know high eighties it's like the sport's so good right now with so much talent that the idea that an athlete from another sport can just waltz in it's like baseball's a little like golf you know years on the green matter like just it's just a repetition that's why even the best hitters they're in the cage every single day yeah but
Colin Cowherd
you're telling me this was a first round pick this isn't by the way anybody saying oh this is michael jordan this ain't michael jordan michael jordan was on a first round baseball pick okay kyler murray was an elite baseball player big time prospect and the idea that he can't just pick up a bat and after six months get get back in the swing of things cheesy pun alert i i don't think this is a terrible idea for him well he's
Jason McIntyre
got a small strike zone little ricky henderson strike zone oh ricky henderson ricky
Colin Cowherd
henderson one of my favorite players you can name all your seventies guys i don't know who they are but ricky henderson was one of my favorites growing

Colin Cowherd
crosby soothsayer what a reference listen i'm not gonna lie i've been on a bit of a heater of late we had a couple amazing calls here kenneth walker super bowl mvp then there was something in the nba i've already forgotten so max crosby a lot of people are saying oh maybe dallas is in the mix buffalo could they be i got a surprise for you the headline for max two x crosby will be sack to the future motor city unleashes matter max colin i think the detroit lions make a big splash and go after max two x crosby to pair with aiden hutchinson fix the defense the they got the new offensive coordinator i don't want to push the alarm in detroit but it feels like the super bowl window may be shrinking colin you know jared goff's my guy lives out near me i've seen him in public super friendly gentleman he's thirty two years old and after this season jared goff's dead cap hit drops to twenty nine million dollars i don't want to say he declined at all last year the offense wasn't as good you know they did they just weren't as good of a team i wonder if they see some of this oh man the rams are all in well shucks look what the bears just did with ben johnson in year one the vikings are going to be back micah parsons coming back i don't know what the heck the vikings are doing but but this is a tough division i think the lions are like hey we got to go all in let's make our moves now i like the trade of montgomery a declining asset get more picks max crosby can i sell you on detroit making
Jason McIntyre
a splash move it just feels like they have bigger issues than an edge rush but you know it's interesting tomorrow's headlines today what's the headline for super bowl mvp you called it kenneth walker
Colin Cowherd
yeah i'm surprised you think the seahawks should just move off him i mean who knows what charbonnet's level health level is going to be like when he comes back but kenneth walker's going somewhere the headline for kenneth walker will be k walk this way g man block that way oh yeah oh yeah you know that song back in the day i heard this somewhere giants making a splash move going for kenneth walker quarterback on the rookie deal in jackson dart new head coach in john harbaugh colin this kind of looks good right cam scatterboo and kenneth walker a one two punch very interesting i like it then you got on the outside you'll have malik neighbors coming back from injury colin it does kind of feel like the arrow is pointing up in new york i think there's some issues on the offensive line but you can overpay slightly for kenneth walker when you know you need a run game to take pressure off your young quarterback well give you
Jason McIntyre
also between scatterboo and walker you're talking about guys who were great after first contact it's bully ball they're a little they're a little similar walker's got better straight line speed but they're they're similar in that it very difficult once they break through the d line to bring them down you'd be a very physical john harbaugh type of offense and i
Colin Cowherd
think you would agree given how many trips jackson dart had to the blue tent i mean he was paying rent in the blue tent harbaugh is going to look at the tape and say whoa hey i like the scrambling quarterback we need less running from you we need you upright let's get a stronger running game to help that so i think you're right the giants probably go from you know up to like seven or eight wins maybe can can you can nine can they win nine eleven
Jason McIntyre
maybe twelve tomorrow's headlines today the perpetually unhappy aj brown one of the better receivers in the league what say you
Colin Cowherd
yeah i flip flopped on this like a politician recently you know i thought aj brown would have like six or seven teams interested all of a sudden the dj moore trade throws a wrinkle like is anybody giving a lot for aj brown but i got one for you colin the headline for aj brown this offseason will be turn that brown upside down aj all smiles in new nest how about the baltimore ravens getting help for lamar jackson adding a stretch the field number one receiver ravens just saw buffalo go all in they just saw hell new england passed us denver passed us here come the chargers we've got to do something jesse minter new coach i don't think they want to rebuild i just looked up lamar's age he's twenty nine colin turn turn twenty nine in january the clock is kind of sort of ticking on the two time mvp it's not it's not fair to say he's declining but he's coming off a bad year he was injured i think at some point you've got to get him a number one would you say he's had a number one receiver in the last i don't know three years like a credible number one zay flowers is good but he's not
Jason McIntyre
a number one no he's a two
Colin Cowherd
yeah do you think that baltimore says hey man listen buffalo bills are all in we're not all in and lamar is in control remember he sat in on the head coaching interviews and lamar was having offering input into what's going to happen with this team going forward
Jason McIntyre
tomorrow's headlines today how about instead of optimism which nfl team will have the worst well they're already they already got
Colin Cowherd
it started earlier this week i don't want to show my hand too early this team is rapidly declining the headline for the worst off season in the nfl will be die nasty chief's crown looking a little bit wobbly colin this is staggering so pro football focus has their their depth chart for defense yeah i just looked at the projected eleven starters they have one guy who was a former first round pick george carloftis that's it on the projected starting lineup for the defense the secondary is littered with third and fourth round picks who don't have a lot of experience spagnolo he's going to have to work miracles with that group and i know nobody knows what's up with patrick mahomes when he's going to return are you sure he's going to be there week one i would say hell no and then you look at the running back situation the tight end if kelsey walks the receiver room continues to underwhelm they're not jeremiah love away from competing in the afc west and you know you want to go big picture zoom out colin we were hot to crown patrick mahomes after a few super bowl trips if he misses the playoffs two years in a row we're going to have to put put that on the shelf patrick mahomes the goat because we know tom brady he didn't miss two years in
Jason McIntyre
a row true dad finally tomorrow's headlines today which nfl team will have the best offseason there's some candidates there are
Colin Cowherd
some i know you want to crown the giants which is fine i'm going to go with a team kind of off the board here i was early on them last year remember never wrong just early the headline for the best off season will be it was all a dream titans read the playbook magazine i like this tennessee titans i mean first of all salah and dable that's an awesome one two punch i think that is phenomenal i think cam ward will definitely be much improved the problem is they don't have any dudes on offense their skill position guys are extremely weak but they have the cap space and then salah we know what he can he can work magic on defenses did it with the jets coach him up they don't have a lot of talent there either i think between the draft and spending in free agency the titans will be a surprise team in the afc and i know you said the nfc is top heavy with maybe the three best teams in the nfc in the league afc has got a lot of mediocrity and somebody's going to get knocked down a peg and i think the titans sneak into the playoffs
Jason McIntyre
as a wildcard team yeah no i i'm kind of with you on that i think day ball and salah work and i think cam ward was running for his life and there's nobody to throw to so that was a bad combination good stuff so for the record let's throw it out there the boston celtics the eastern conference the knicks are playing well but the eastern conference despite the fact that knicks do match up with san antonio well the eastern conference is wide open the knicks can struggle defensively against good operators the pistons have some limitations offensively they don't score much from the perimeter and here come the boston celtics jason tatum is going to play tomorrow against dallas and from the volume jason temp on what he provides
Kelvin Washington
it's all fun and games this has been a very impressive season for boston but they need jayson tatum he unlocks their defensive versatility jayson tatum gives you
Jason McIntyre
another guy who can kind of alleviate that burden on jaylen brown and specifically
Kelvin Washington
jayson tatum is a much better passer and it's something that as we talked about it'll be a little clunky at first implementing him into this offense but ultimately it will make them more versatile on both ends of the floor and make them a much better team against the best competition around the league all
Jason McIntyre
right so that's good news for the boston celtics so j mac this past weekend we had the combine we go into the world baseball classic the olympics are over march madness around the corner free agency starts next wednesday i think it's official but the deals are all getting sort of done over the next couple days so we have a trent mcduffie deal rams going big super bowl bubble we have a buffalo bills a lot of criticism going big at wide receiver i think the next shoe to drop is max crosby probably also don't
Colin Cowherd
forget lakers at the nuggets tonight lakers in desperate need of a win against a good team it's just an amazing time to be a sports fan so what's your best guess on crosby
Jason McIntyre
well i think moving dj moore by the bears is a signal and they're drafting late in the first round so the best edge rusher is david bailey he's
Colin Cowherd
gone would you give that one and then the second round pick you just got number sixty for max do you
Jason McIntyre
think that's enough i'd rather go because of drew dolman i would if drew dolman didn't retire i'd be okay with it yeah but i need i need two seconds and a third i got to if i get max crosby i got to get a guard i need another corner i need a they have to upgrade at linebacker they're not very fast yeah i mean i think max is remember you got to pay max so i two ones is sauce gardner went for two ones and i think max crosby is a much more impactful player than sauce gardner but the age
Colin Cowherd
sauce is young yeah yeah but i
Jason McIntyre
think you know sauce got hurt last year crosby's there he's relentless he's a culture changer i mean leads the nfl since he entered in tackles for losses over miles garrett so you know it's and the other thing to remember about max crosby the raiders usually trail in the second half and late in games so max crosby this is not garbage sacks right you know max a lot of teams are playing the raiders those last two to three drives they're running the ball trying to eat the clock throwing the ball safe throw so max crosby is it'd be different if max crosby plays for the bears and the bears with their high powered offense lead and max crosby is asked to seal and close games so let me let me you haven't seen the best potentially
Colin Cowherd
of max crosby max crosby to the eagles aj brown to the raiders what
Jason McIntyre
say you i wouldn't bring in aj brown with fernando mendoza i don't want
Colin Cowherd
that i mean brown bowers genti and
Jason McIntyre
mendoza all i know you could just bring in his college receiver omar cooper
Colin Cowherd
late first omar cooper you could draft him to bring them all but i
Jason McIntyre
think max crosby playing for a winning team that has leads in the fourth quarter and you can unleash him he he doesn't get that in with the raiders they trail late teams are trying to kill the clock three step drops dump it underneath so he doesn't get the opportunity he'll get massive opportunities with a team like the bears it's just like say what you want about dj moore and nothing against caleb williams but but chicago has an embarrassment of riches running back tight end wide receiver dj moore will be the focal point of the vertical passing game so dj moore to buffalo that is a twelve target nine catch guy and he'll be there really their only dependable deep threat so i you gotta when a guy gets traded how does he fit into the culture and the production of the team max crosby to a good team lead it's like micah parsons to the packers i mean green bay scores points they lead late micah's very valuable on a good team micah wasn't as valuable on
Colin Cowherd
the cowboys did dj more go bryce young caleb williams josh allen oh my gosh what a leap j max back

This episode dives into a pivotal NFL offseason news cycle, examining recent blockbuster trades and the shifting strategies of major franchises. Special guest Brian Baldinger (“Baldi’s Breakdowns”, NFL Network) shares live insights from the NFL Combine, evaluating key prospects and the impact of recent trades. With NFL free agency and the draft looming, Colin, J-Mac (Jason McIntyre), and Baldinger debate the value of draft picks vs. proven talent, which teams are rising or falling, and offer candid takes on the futures of players like DJ Moore, Maxx Crosby, Trent McDuffie, Russell Wilson, and Kyler Murray.

Best and worst NFL offseasons:
On Future Trades:
Colin on NFL Team Building:
“There’s no one way to do anything. Hell, Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan both made a Batman movie—they both worked, and they were very different.” (~04:00)
Baldinger on Francis Mauigoa (Miami O-line):
“He’s a stud... Feels like Zach Martin or Quinton Nelson at Notre Dame playing tackle knowing that they’re gonna be an all-pro guard… Not a bad thing.” (19:09)
Baldinger on Reuben Bain:
“He’s been coached by Jason Taylor; they practice hard every day; he’s a tough kid… I don’t think [arm length] is going to affect him.” (20:27)
Colin on the SGA Free Throw Criticism:
“You love Michael’s game... you just don’t like his game because it’s not flashy, it’s not fun to watch.” (08:38)
Russell Wilson on Sean Payton:
“It’s one thing for people that maybe aren’t in the field... when you’ve been in the ring or you’ve been on the same side... I got the same amount of rings you got.” (29:29)
