You're listening to Fox Sports Radio with that Matt Hasselbeck, 18 years in the NFL. We were, you know, I've never taken like the top 100 list. I understand players tend to have favorites, but it is noteworthy when Lamar's peer group, always his number one supporter, like drops him out. And I had said this, I defended him for years. But you do get to a point where injuries declining, like how do you view Lamar Jackson today?
Matt Hasselbeck
I think he's a great player. I mean I think he's a Hall of Fame caliber player. He's incredible. He was not himself last year. It was a weird year. I don't know if he was banged up or what it was, but there was bad film put out by a great player last year and that can happen. Not every year is the same. I say it all the time to you. Like not every year is the same. There's a lot of factors that go into these things. Who's your play caller? What kind of teammates are around you? What did you put in the bank in the off season so you can make withdrawals throughout the season? And for whatever reason, whatever he did, I heard him say, hey, I did. Did the Same thing I've always done. Well, maybe it's time to change what you've always done. I mean, that's what the great players do. They find ways to get better, different ways to train, different things to work on. And you know, obviously something had to change. And what ended up changing was a new head coach, a new play caller, you know, all those types of things. But they're building this thing around Lamar. He's just got to step up and be the Lamar that we used to know.
Colin Cowherd
So I said, and I'm a sucker for athletic guys who can extend plays. So I said, going into this season, if you ask me to rank my top 10 quarterbacks, I probably have Caleb Williams, Sam Darnold and Jordan Love higher than most people. I put Caleb 3. Now people will say, give me a break. But I know people just calling you
Botox Advertisement
out of your now.
Colin Cowherd
I also have Darnold in his physical prime, can extend plays, big arm like Caleb. I love Jordan Love. Even though I'm not getting a lot of playoff wins now. Again, I had Lamar 11th over Drake May because I think Drake is ascending and I do think Lamar is peaked and I think Drake's a very good deep ball thrower, late game thrower. Is there anything you look at, I mean, the Caleb thing, I, I know you don't agree with that.
Matt Hasselbeck
No, I don't. But I have a question about this list because I do think it's really important. Like what's the lens that you're looking at this through? Is this, you know, the kind of year they're going to have this year or where we sit today? Like, what do we, what exactly is the lens you're looking this list through?
Colin Cowherd
Okay, prime, and this is a great example. I have burrow 6. I do not think he has the O line of the support system on the staff that Justin Herbert does with Harbaugh. Mike McDaniel, I think Caleb has Ben Johnson. He made a massive leap next year. I think he'll make another one this year. I like Vrael and, and Josh McDaniel. That is a, that's top of the list support.
Matt Hasselbeck
So you're looking ahead. You're, you're looking into this season, upcoming. Well, I, I would say, you know, you admitted it right off the bat. You have a type. You know, just like in dating relationships. You have, you have something that you're attracted to. You are attracted to young offensive highlight making people who do it by themselves. I mean that. I think that's what your infatuation is with Caleb. Josh Allen Mahomes, those guys like that is a thing you do. You are not attracted to the old boring Brock Purdy type. You know, the way that, the way Dak Prescott, the way that I am, you know, I grew up, I played in an era where our best players were. Our hall of Fam players. In, in my, in my era were guys like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning and Drew Brees. Yeah. And they, they were highlights all over the place, but they weren't the highlights that were gonna run on a loop like some of these really talented athletic players like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes and Caleb Williams. So, yes, I, I am, I am with you right there. I do think that, you know, Dak Prescott fans should be upset. I feel like he's got a case for the year that he had in the year that he's probably going to have again this year with the weapons that he has. And again, I'll say it, not to be a broken record, but Brock Purdy, I know it's boring, but you add Mike Evans. I don't, I don't think that Mike Evans is getting the respect that he deserves. And so the Kyle Shanahan offense, with Brock Purdy at the point, with the weapons that they have, if they come back healthy, McCaffrey, Kittle, you know, all the stuff that they've added offensively and I would add, they're probably going to be worse on defense. So just in my career, when my stats went up, it was usually when our defense wasn't as good as. So those are some guys. Trevor Lawrence has a case. I would say, you know, he finished the year really, really strong. Yeah, but. But I think your type in my type might be a little bit different.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah. So what do you make as somebody that knows the Seahawks well? And I've said one of the things that's impressive about Darnold, he's not doing it with one coach, one offensive line, one coordinator. He. It's a merry go round of people and he's winning with all of them. You go to Carolina, he's 4 and 2. You go to Minnesota, you go to Seattle. You know, he cleaned up what we thought was his reckless nature. NFC better than the afc, didn't have a turnover. Like, I think the league is struggling. A lot of great coaches, coordinators and players have gone to the jets and it's the Bermuda Triangle. They disappear. I kind of just wiped that off his career. He came in young. It was New York. What do you make of Darnold and where I think the league is Struggling quite what in the hell to do with Sam.
Matt Hasselbeck
Yeah, well, I hope a lot of, a lot of people around the league are looking at Sam Darnold and saying, hey, let's not give up on our young quarterback that we've already kicked to the curb. If we get the play caller and the quarterback right, if we have the uni unity there, the way that he had in Minnesota, the way that he had last year in Seattle, like we don't have to give up on a 27 year old quarterback with talent. I hear people right now talking about Jordan Love, like, oh, Jordan Love's not the guy like that. He's still a young player like that. It could come together when you're 27, 28 years old the way that it did for Sam Darnold. I think that's a real thing. Now the other thing that I would just say is that doesn't mean that Sam Darnold is going to have a statistical great year again this year.
Colin Cowherd
That's right.
Matt Hasselbeck
I think one of the reasons that he doesn't get a lot of respect is that he played the style of play to win football games, to hoist a Lombardi so much of the year he was playing safe and conservative because he knew he had the legion, you know, the dark side defense on, on, on the other side. Now in the NFC championship game, he played a completely different style, showed that he could, he cut it loose. Him and Matthew Stafford, almost a thousand yards of offense in that game. So he's capable of it. But what I think his best quality is right now is coachability. Mike McDonald set the set, the vision for how we're going to play offensively and he bought into it, you know,
Colin Cowherd
and another player that I think I have a higher opinion of than, than the market is Jordan Love. And a lot of it is Matt. I think he's a good kid. I think he's coachable, I think he's tough. I think he's got a whip, I think he moves well. I love his size. He has been bizarrely bad in September and I can't figure it out. So Burroughs had choppy sep Septembers, if I recall. Zach Taylor struggled. What? But you look at late numbers for Jordan Love and they've been he's a great December January quarterback. We tried to explain this earlier and I don't have an answer. Is there a belief. Why would Jordan Love struggle every September? Is that a coaching thing? Is that a system thing? Are they are like Belichick, are they experimenting in Green Bay in September?
Matt Hasselbeck
Well, I look at it almost a different way, you know, sort of the opposite way. And I played in Green Bay for three years or really watched Brett Favre play for three years in Green Bay. But it's nice to be the home quarterback in Green Bay late in the year. You know, the other team, I don't think they understand how to handle the elements the way the Green Bay packers do. Like that equipment staff has it on lockdown, how to do it with footwear and shoes and undergarments and, you know, what's, what you're really drinking in those Gatorade cups. Newsflash, it's not Gatorade, you know, so, like, I think they got it dialed, dialed in that way. So it doesn't surprise me that he plays really good football in those cold weather months. That early in the season thing, you know, that is, that is something, you know, that's, you know, you're not wrong about certain great quarterbacks who don't play, you know, super great off the bat. And I think, you know, you got to chalk some of that up to, you know, how you do your training camp. It is different now without preseason games. Some people get it, you know, do it a little bit better than others. But I don't, I don't have an answer for you on that, though.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, I mean, Burrow, you could make an argument with Burrow because of injuries, he doesn't play in the preseason. He doesn't want snaps. And so September becomes a little bit of his preseason.
Matt Hasselbeck
Well, what, what I could say to you, Colin, is I just know, like, you know, in my career, those preseason games, they were four, five preseason games. I thought those were incredibly valuable. Like Mike Holmgren did things the way that Bill Walsh did them, the way that Andy Reid was doing them after Holmgren. And there was a system, we knew exactly what we were doing. Preseason game 1, 2, 3 is kind of the, the first half and started the two minute drive, two minute drive at the end of the half and going into the second half, like fourth, you know, we knew what we were doing in all those games. And it's the wild, wild west now with joint practices and, and staying off the quarterback. And sometimes the guys around you just, they surprise you. You thought they were ready and they weren't ready once the season starts.
Colin Cowherd
Okay. One of the reasons, and I said this when Caleb Williams came out of usc, I said he can be erratic and inconsistent. But there's two things that jump out to me. He never gets hurt, ever. Jared Goff has that too. Goff Gets hammered. He doesn't get hurt. Some guys do. Caleb is always available to play and he does not throw interceptions. And considering the fact he's a playmaker and I mean he, he throws some ill advised throws. So I, I've come to the point with Caleb Williams is that like Josh Allen, there's so much horsepower, I'm not going to hold him to 66% completion percentage. He is erratic. He's like longest guy off the tee. Sometimes he can't hit his fairway woods. Like I just, I just mail it. I, I just check it down like he's not perfect. Have you come around a little on Caleb because you, you push back early. You're like, this is a lot of hero stuff. Is there anything that Caleb did last year where you look at it and think, okay, I got to give him that. He does check that box.
Matt Hasselbeck
Yeah, absolutely. He was the most improved quarterback in the NFL to me last year. His, his jump from year one to year two was incredible. The job that Ben Johnson did with him is remarkable both for the quarterback and for the coach. I thought they were excellent. You mentioned it. His, you know, every coach will tell you the best availability is. The best ability is availability. That is true. And then not turning the ball over, it's incredible. It's the reason that Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterback sacks that's still playing in the, in the game. He doesn't turn the ball over. And so I think those are real things. Like he didn't, he protected the team by not taking sacks. You know, a lot's being talked about his completion percentage and all that stuff. But hey, that's, that's minor compared to protecting the football. That, that's all bravo. Like that was really, really impressive. I'm, I'm on board with that kind of stuff now. It's hard to keep taking major leaps as a young player. It's just, it's just difficult. I thought, I thought that there was a lot of great things. The best thing I could say about Caleb Will is he has a clutch gene that is really hard to find. Yeah, you can do all the great practicing and all the great, you know, seven on seven and all, whatever. But the elite quarterbacks, the elite playmakers, they have that clutch gene and he absolutely showed that he has that.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, he made plays against Green Bay and the Rams in the playoffs. That just football physics. It's a little bit of the early Mahomes that you're like, there's just not a lot of guys in the world that can make those would even attempt
Matt Hasselbeck
those throws Matt Hasselback and that's a type. And that's a type. And that is your type. I prefer the guys like it using a field goal kicker analogy that don't miss two kicks in the first and second quarter and then kick the game winner. You know like that's my type. I just like that slow boring consistency like Jalen hurts. I like him. I like how he plays the game. So anyway sorry you gotta type.
Colin Cowherd
I gotta type, I gotta type. There's no question. Matt is always good seeing you. Yeah it's Caleb Williams, Sam Darnold, Jordan Love play into kind of what I like. I like. I think, I think the league has changed. I think there are smarter offensive coaches. I think defensive ends are, are more athletic than ever. There are more sudden quick pass rushes more unblockable players. And I mean the only thing I worry about Matt Stafford and the Rams this year is left tackle. Well Larry Jackson, whatever happens there, that story develops like that's the only thing I worry. I don't worry about anything about Matt Stafford. I now I would not worry about left tackle if Jordan Love was the quarterback or Sam Darnold or Caleb Williams because their escapability so great. So as a quarterback some quarterbacks are, they're sitting targets. That's what I worry about with Matt Stafford. So I, I do like, you know, I, I think sometimes in the NBA we overhype athleticism. I think it's more skill based than people give basketball players credit for. And I think in the NFL I like guys that move suddenly, quickly, urgently. Horsepower to me is it's, it doesn't all show up in analytics but can you make something happen where there is nothing available And Darnold, you can be a little reckless. Jordan can be, you know, a little reckless. Sam Darnold, absolutely. Be sure to catch live editions of the Herd, weekdays at noon Eastern, 9am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio FS1 and the iHeartRadio app.

All right, one more World cup story to wet your beak for France, Spain, and that's Norway. Colin, did you see, see how many fans in Norway welcome the team home? This was in Oslo. They're saying over 100,000 fans were in the streets celebrating Norway's run all the way to the quarterfinals. Colin, they did the Viking row. Oh, man. Take a listen to this. It's pretty cool.
Colin Cowherd
I don't know if you've been to the Scandinavian.
J Mac
No, I have not.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, we were just talking as a staff. We've all been around Europe, my son. I can't wait to go. But it's, it is. You know, I see these reports all the time about great places to live in the world and the Scandinavian countries are always at the top of the list. I thought they were an amazing story. You know, I never, you know, I, When I think of great soccer brands, Switzerland isn't one, but they're always good. Norway is just not a. It's just not a brand I ever thought of, but it's a. What I really learned from Norway. If you have one transformational player, that's hard to do in our American sports, but in soccer, if you have one transformational player, they can take you to new heights.
J Mac
Yeah. So I gotta be honest, I was totally unaware that there was a Norwegian row. I did not know about this Viking row thing. Were you aware of that? That, that was like a thing in Norway?
Colin Cowherd
No.
J Mac
And now it's like one of the biggest things to come out of the World Cup. I will say there's a lot of good stories about how Norway kind of built this team Starting in the youth levels. Right. And Holland is a unique story because his dad was on the national team and his mom was a superhuman athlete, like a big. So it's not like he came out of nowhere.
Colin Cowherd
Right.
J Mac
He would be the equivalent of like Steph Curry in America. Dad played in the NBA.
Colin Cowherd
Right.
J Mac
Mom was like a big time college athlete.
Colin Cowherd
Well, a lot of our. I mean, I don't know what the number is, but I remember seeing something about Division 1 athletes in America. Like 50% of them, somebody in their family was a Division 1 athlete. Like we talk Sam Darnold, Sam Darnold's family. Men, women, there was a lot of athletes in the family. That's generally the way it works. And that's the way it worked for Erling Holland.
J Mac
All right, let's move back to the NFL. And this Justin Herbert character has really got a lot of people fired up. Colin, I'm stunned to read this, that according to some of these quarterback rankings, someone anonymously said that Herbert doesn't have the maturity level of the other top quarterbacks on this list. Now this is asinine.
Colin Cowherd
Come on, you know what it is. So I read that quote. I don't what he was. It wasn't about the person, what he's saying about him. He doesn't have the quarterback maturity like he. He wants him. He can be a bit mechanical, which was the knock of him coming out of college was he was a bit mechanical. He, despite having size and athletic ability, he wasn't, you know, kind of locks on to a guy. It's a bit mechanical. It's not as fluid as people like. So it wasn't a shot at his personality. It reads like it was, but the maturity was about the process of quarterbacking and the growth of his quarterback play. It comes off like a shot at him personally.
J Mac
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
But when I read it and read the entire quote, it didn't feel like that. It didn't feel like he was going after the kid. He was going after that. He hasn't moved the next level of quarterback play.
J Mac
Yeah, I don't. I read the quote. I just think this is nonsense. I mean, what. What does quarterback play even mean? So you want to talk maturity, look at guy, you know, Johnny Manziel. Lack of maturity. Obviously Herbert's not there. He, I believe, had a 4.2 GPA and was a biology major.
Colin Cowherd
I think a lot of it is pre snap reads, you know, being post snap reads, you know, a lot of quarterback play. Patrick Mahomes always said it wasn't until the Middle of year three that the light went off. And I think the lights clearly got on for Herbert. But there were a lot of NFL people and I'm, and I'm people that I know and respect that, that really thought TUA was going to be the better pro quarterback. I was never a big TUA fan. Left hander, small injuries. I was more Herbert. But I will be honest that when I watched Herbert in college, he never ran. It was like C.J. stroud until he played Georgia, like he never ran. And so I was always like, you know, Herbert's a clear pocket guy. I think there have been stages of his development. I think the Rose bowl against Wisconsin, when Cristobal let him run, finally he was like, oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, there's a light bulb. And then I think when he got Harbaugh, oh, there's a light bulb. I mean he had a great rookie year with Shane Steichen as the OC. I think Mike McDaniel is going to take this to the next and the highest level. My guess is for the next five years he's going to have Harbaugh and Mike McDaniel as, as his is, you know, his leaders in the coaching suite. And I think he's going to be really special.
J Mac
We'll see if they get to keep McDaniel. But this idea that Herbert's not an elite core, any. Anything to the contrary of that is just idiotic. I mean he's done more with less than you could argue any quarterback in the league. No, no tackles last year. Okay, wide receiver group. Let tell me the superstar receiver the Justin Herbert has had or tight end. Go ahead.
Colin Cowherd
They like Trey Harris a lot. And lad McConkey is very good. They have two receivers they like a lot.
J Mac
Those are twos of threes.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, that's fair. Lad McConkey is a very good slot receiver. I think Quentin Johnson has is just, you know, he's a big play guy but not really dependable.
J Mac
I mean imagine if he was in Justin Her Joe Burrow's team if Herbert was in Burrows spot. Yeah, but with Jamar Chase, are you kidding me?
Colin Cowherd
With Cincinnati you have no defense, so you have to win by shootout and give the Chargers credit. Jesse Minter built a defense so Herbert, you know, didn't have a great O line but he didn't have to drop 28 points. So Herbert and Burrow have similar issues where they've had O line issues and the staffing or there have been units that aren't. I don't think anybody in the league denies Burrow and Herbert are exceptional, but it does feel like in Cincinnati and with the Chargers. This is the first time I look at Herbert and go, oh, God, he's got everything. Yeah, he's got his tackles back. He's got the coach, he's got the oc. They've got now enough wide receiver depth. That's the first year I really think it. And for the record, there's a lot of people in Vegas that love the Chargers this year. One of the better over bets.
J Mac
So next four years, if you could have one of these two quarterbacks next four years, Money is not an object. They make the same next four years. Herbert or Burrow, who you take it.
Guest Analyst
Herbert.
J Mac
I don't think it's close. I mean, Herbert's always healthy. The guy's a, guy's a tank. Can't tackle him.
Colin Cowherd
And he's got a better support system, 100%.
J Mac
All right, final story. Colin, this is spicy. Happened in Vegas over the weekend. Former teammates Tyler Hero and Bam Adebayo had a physical altercation. Now, the, the reports are sketchy on this one. Okay, so, Giannis, just so you know what you're going into. Bam Adebayo allegedly was told about some comments Tyler Herro made, not on social media, but in a group chat that was leaked on social media. Bam Adebayo, according to the reports, approached Tyler Herro, Herro said something, and Bam Adebayo punched him in the face. Colin, we live in a society where people say stuff nasty about humans all the time. This is a teammate. They were boys for, like, six or seven years in Miami. And Bam, out of bio, is not just going and punching him in the face. I don't know about you, but the NBA is. This is a, I think, a bad look for Bam out of bio.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, I don't. You know that you travel with people. There's a lot of ego. There's, I mean, I don't know, a lot of stuff happens that we don't know about. I mean, we, we see some video. Michael Jordan punched Steve Kerr. Like, I, I, I, I, I kind of like when you get into these locker rooms and you're traveling with people and there's a lot of money and girlfriends involved and. Yeah, I mean, there's, there's a lot of stuff going on. Like, I, I don't want to get too judgy on this. I love Bam Adebayo. I think I do, too.
J Mac
And Bam Adebayo, by the way, is six. What is he, six, eight, six, nine? He's got like £60 on Tyler Hero and you're beating up a little guy. That's. That's weak sauce from Tyler hero. That's that this isn't at to the level of Draymond Green's sucker punching Jordan pool. Now, there's no video of this yet, but imagine the life of Tyler Hero. You're in Miami, living it up. He's got all the IG ladies all hanging out at his house. Well, you shipped to Milwaukee and he's getting punched by his former teammate. Like, brutal summer for Tyler Herro.
Colin Cowherd
Well, Milwaukee. Milwaukee in the fall is gorgeous.
J Mac
Really? Compared to Miami? Compared to South Beach.
Colin Cowherd
Whatever.
J Mac
I've heard good things about Milwaukee. I'm not going to besmirch the name of Dells. Is that, Is that.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
J Mac
Which is legendary, apparently. Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
J. Mac with the news.
Indeed Sponsored Jobs Advertisement
Well, that's the news.
J Mac
And thanks for stopping by the Herd.
Colin Cowherd
I got invited yesterday. I've been so busy in the last 24 hours to the Bears packers game. A sweet. I've never been to Lambeau. There's only two things in sports that I, I, I. Two boxes I haven't checked. One of them is Lambo. I got to check. So that's pretty, that's pretty exciting. Bears packers at a suite in Lambo at that. Pretty good. Yeah. You're looking, you're, you're, you, you. J. Mac can't even beside himself.
J Mac
Well, your bucket list includes Lambo. I'm curious if you're talking about a Lamborghini or Lambeau Field.
Colin Cowherd
No, I mean, it's one of the. I mean, it's the. Isn't it the most iconic professional football venue in America?
J Mac
Really?
Colin Cowherd
Lambo Field. What is it, Sofi? It's been around an hour. I mean, Lambeau's been around forever. Vince Lombardi coach there.
J Mac
So when is this game? Is it in the winter or in the fall?
Colin Cowherd
I think it's October 10th.
J Mac
You better pack a park up for that bad boy.
Colin Cowherd
11th. It's October 11th. Holy hell. It's an hour. You know, it's just up the road.
J Mac
I've never been closer than the Indiana Bears stadium, whatever that stadium is going to be.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, that's around the corner. That's only a 30 minute drive from where I'm sitting right now. 40 minute drive.
J Mac
So I just looked up the average temperatures. October, lambeau, it's negative 8 degrees.
Colin Cowherd
No, it's not. No, it's not. I got to tell you something. It is, is. It's not snowing in Chicago as much as it used to.
J Mac
That's a good question. Is Lambeau the most iconic NFL stadium?
Colin Cowherd
Oh God, by a month. There's nothing close to it. I mean, there's Soldier Field, but nobody in Chicago even likes it. It nobody likes Soldier. It's not that next to the Field Museum. It's a neat area in town. Nobody likes it. There is no second place, I mean, in the history. Wrigley Field, Lambeau, Fenway Park. I mean, Dodger Stadium is, I think, way higher up the list than people give it credit for. Dodger Stadium's unbelievable. It is just unbelievable. But I would say the most iconic stadiums in America. I mean, there's some college venues. Allen Field House for KU is big, obviously where Duke plays. Cameron Indoor is, you know, all time.
J Mac
What are you suggesting they have a Super bowl at Lambeau or something like I I don't. I Where does Jacksonville play? What's that stadium called? That's a joke.
Colin Cowherd
Well, who's sponsoring it this week?
J Mac
I don't know.
Colin Cowherd
Some credit card companies now approve. Oh, I already read that behind on my spots here out of myself in Chicago. It's the Herd. I put out my top 10 quarterbacks

going into the season.
Colin Cowherd
I considered everything. Jared Goff gets an upgraded offensive coordinator and left tackle. I think that puts him in the top 10. Justin Herbert edged over Joe Burrow. He gets an upgraded offensive coordinator. He'll have his tackles back. These are in my opinion going into this season the 10 best quarterbacks Caleb Williams a second year with Ben Johnson. I have him at three. The only old guy is Matt Stafford. I tend to have a type. I like guys that can move around. Caleb Williams at 3, Sam Darnold at 7. Jordan Love at 9. Probably higher than the rest of, you know, football analysts would have him. Drake May is my 10. He's an ascending player. I think he's only getting better. He's been pretty, pretty good late game situations. Number 11 is Lamar Jackson, although I think he's declining. Number 12 would be Dak Prescott. I think then you get into a Jalen Hurts, Brock Purdy, Baker Mayfield Group, Bo Nix is is around there and you know, we can argue back and forth. I, I Nick Wright earlier on Josh Allen being at top my top 10 quarterback list.
Guest Analyst
Having the guy at top the league be a guy who's never sniffed a Super bowl feels weird to me. But I get it. He the and we also we judge Josh Allen differently than we judge other quarterbacks. Josh Allen's judged like a slugger in baseball. Like don't care if he hits 230, hit 40 bombs. That's not typically how we've done quarterback quarterbacks in the past. But with Josh it's fine. It doesn't sit right with me that Josh is the best quarterback in the league right now, but I think most people feel that way and I guess it's because their cable went out when he had the single worst turnover of the season last year before halftime of that Broncos playoff game.
Colin Cowherd
So here's Josh Allen's playoff numbers which again when, when you, you know, you split them up in the wild card round. He's been unbelievable rest of the playoffs not as unbelievable. Fairly noted though that rest of the playoffs be worse weather, better competition, better pass rushes. So I think overall Josh, unlike a Lamar Jackson who's really torpedoed, has really struggled in the postseason. 84 passer rate. Josh Allen's not been the reason they're losing games. He did have a really, really bad playoff turnover that I will say it probably the worst of his career. The other player that I like and I think a lot of it is he just sort of he does things nobody else can do is Caleb Williams. Again, I'm judging based on what I suspect we'll see this year. For our radio audience, it's Alan Mahomes, Caleb Stafford, Herbert Burrow, Darnold Goff, Love, Drake May. I think Caleb Williams second year with Ben Johnson will only get better. I think he has an it factor late in games. He is never Hurt. He does not throw interceptions. I think a lot of it is he is incredibly intuitive, and I don't think it comes across in analytics. The dude does not throw picks. And he's always available. He can take a beating. Next to Josh Allen, most horsepower in the league. And Matt Hasselbeck earlier on, him being
Matt Hasselbeck
number three, he protected the team by not taking sacks. You know, a lot's being talked about, his completion percentage and all that stuff, but hey, that's. That's minor compared to projecting the football. That, that's all bravo. Like, that was really, really impressive. I'm. I'm on board with that kind of stuff. The best thing I could say about Caleb Williams is he has a clutch gene that is really hard to find. You can do all the great practicing and all the great, you know, seven on seven and all, whatever, but the elite quarterbacks, the elite playmakers, they have that clutch gene and he absolutely showed that he has that.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah. And I also think Caleb has the locker room. I think there's a certain magic when. And I don't think, you know, the Bears did not draft a pass rusher off the edge, which surprised a lot of people. And I do think Caleb has something that the great ones do, that when you're very good in big moments, you build a great deal of camaraderie with your teammates and you sometimes get an elevated defensive effort from teammates who want to get you the ball back one more time. And I think Caleb's developed that. There's a feeling in the room like, just get Caleb the ball one more time, he'll make something happen, you know, Bo Nixon. Caleb are similar in that they can have really bad series and really bad half. They're both really good late with excellent offensive callers and play designers and Sean Payton and Ben Johnson. So yes, I've got a type. I like horsepower. What can I say? You like Messi. I like Caleb. Like, I like guys that do things nobody else can do. France and Spain 3 Eastern 2 Central on font.
