Foreign. Hello to our friends and listeners of the Hillsdale College Online Courses podcast. This is Jeremiah Regan and I'm coming to you to bring a special announcement about a limited theatrical engagement for our documentary Revolutionary America. It plays this weekend only, May 31 through June 2 in a theater near you. Go to Hillsdale Edu Film to find showtimes and buy tickets in advance. We're gearing up to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country's birth. And we did it by telling the story of the American Revolution. Now, telling the story of the founding is not new for Hillsdale College. We've been doing it for 180 years, first and always primarily in college classrooms. But Hillsdale has found a variety of ways to tell Americans the truth about their country and encourage them to emulate the bravery, prudence and intelligence of our founders. We do that through our speech journal and primus, through national leadership seminars and Centers for Constructive Alternatives. We do it through our K12 program and through radio, podcasts, social media, and of course, through the online courses. Now we're doing it through movie theaters. We're trying to reach a new audience of Americans to continue serving you, our faithful students, but of course to welcome in new friends and because the biggest stories, such as the founding of our country, deserve big screens and big sounds. So we've made this movie in a way that in telling the truth, provides an exciting experience. It looks beautiful up on the screen and their sound design and the music are worth hearing in the movie theater. Revolutionary America tells the true story of how American colonists, who were faithful Englishmen, began to recognize that they could not enjoy their God given rights under the rule of the British monarch and sought for years to have their rights restored, but ultimately discovered that the only way they could live the way they believed God intended for them was to break the political bonds with England and establish their own nation to guard their rights. So the movie begins in 1754, beginning of the French and Indian War, and concludes in 1789 with the ratification of the Constitution that we believe is the heart of the American Revolution, the violation of rights, the battle for independence, and the institution of a new form of government to preserve those rights. The documentary features interviews with six Hillsdale College faculty members, Larry Arne, John Grant, Bill McClay, Paul Moreno, Kevin Slack and Tom West. It also features interviews with patriotic Americans, Michael Knowles, Eric Metaxas and John Lovell. And it's narrated by Tom Selleck. How's it different from an online course? Well, let's start by how it's similar to an online course. It is accurate and it is inspiring. We tell the truth and we provide facts, including primary documents. In fact, we produced a primary document guide that accompanies the film. What's different is the single presentation of a 90 minute narrative on the founding, a little bit longer than 90 minutes. That gives you in one sitting the severe controversy that arises after the French and Indian War, through the war, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution all in one sitting. And it does it in Dolby 5.1 surround sound. We've designed the movie so that it looks bigger and better than anything we've done with the online courses. This includes 3D rendered accurate maps that allow you to see where the action occurred and how it's occurring. And these maps are animated book shots that bring paintings and drawings from the era to life and of course, carefully shot interview footage. And you might wonder if you should go see it in the movie theaters. And as your friend in learning, I would encourage you to do so. Please go see it in movie theaters. As I mentioned at the top, we are trying to branch into new ways to teach Americans, especially Americans who have not heard of us. And the more people you take to the movie, the more people will learn. The more tickets we sell, the greater our reputation will grow in the world of cinema. That makes future opportunities to bring compelling stories to the screen and share the teaching of the college, the message of the American founding and the message of the cross with our audience. We get better terms from distributors, we attract bigger producers, we are able to market the film. The more tickets we sell, the better able we are to accomplish our mission to teach all who wish to learn. So get your tickets to Revolutionary America, which is showing in theaters this weekend only May 31st through June 2nd by going to Hillsdale Edu Film, that's Hillsdale Edu Film, to find theaters and showtimes and to buy tickets in advance. Thank you for learning with us and enjoy the movie.
