That's Dave Spelled D A I V E. And this is your 10 minute weekly upgrade on the biggest stories in biohacking, longevity and the world of health. Let's go.

Alcohol kills your sleep and ages your brain every time you drink it. If you want to relax and connect but still feel clear the next day, there's a better way. And that better way is Trucava Kava calms your nervous system and enhances social connection by increasing gaba, dopamine and serotonin activity. In the South Pacific, they've used kava for over 3000 years for relaxed mental clarity, social connection and resilience, all while supporting brain health and longevity. I'm excited because Tru Kava just released their new instant powders. For the first time, you can get the authentic whole food kava experience in a clean mix and go sachet format. I travel with these powders because they actually deliver all of the relaxing social benefits I want without destroying my sleep score or metabolic health. If you want the relaxing effects of alcohol without the downsides, this is the upgrade. Go to trukava.com and use code DAVE10 for 10% off. That's T-R-U-K-A-V-A.com for 10% off.

Here's your first story of the week. And it's about one of the simplest molecules that might be doing something extraordinary. A new five year study found that people who took 2000iu of vitamin D every day slowed the shortening of their telomeres. Those little caps on your DNA that determine how long your cells live by around 140 base pairs compared to placebo. That's equivalent to being a couple of years biologically younger. Now, we've all heard vitamin D pitched for bones mood or immunity. But this is the first major evidence showing it's also defending your DNA from aging. The beauty is it's cheap, safe and accessible. If you're not tracking your levels, this is the week to start. You want your 25 hydroxy D in that 60 to 80 range. That's where the cellular magic happens. Your next story takes us from simple supplements to futuristic genetics. Researchers at the University of Bristol have been studying a gene variant found in people who live past 100. It's called lavbpifb4 and they just showed it can reverse signs of cardiac aging in lab animals. One treatment and their heart function improved. New blood vessels grew and the heart basically started acting young again. This is one of those moments where longevity science crosses into Science fiction. Except it's real. What's exciting is that this isn't just about extending lifespan, it's about extending youth span. We're learning how to replicate the biological resilience of super centenarians. People whose genetics protect them from age related decline. That's the next wave of biohacking, installing what nature already perfected. Story number three is less about molecules or genes, and more about trust. The FDA just announced it's closing the generally recognized as safe loophole. For decades, supplement companies could self certify their new ingredients without any official review. That's over. From now on, every new compound will need to be vetted before it hits the market. For biohackers like us, this is a long overdue cleanup. We're entering an accountability era for supplements. Fewer sketchy fillers, more validated performance. It might slow innovation temporarily, but it also raises the floor for quality. If you care about what's in your capsules like we do at supgrade Labs, wink wink. This is good news. Your fourth story dives into something I've been talking about for years. The gut. As a longevity control center, researchers at the University of Basel just discovered that specific dietary bacteria, the kind that carry double stranded rna, can activate autophagy. Your body's built in cleanup system that clears out damaged cells. That means your gut microbes can literally turn on one of the core anti aging switches in your biolog. You can't buy that in a pill, but you can feed it. Think kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir and real yogurt with live cultures. Those foods don't just help digestion, they signal your cells to repair themselves. That's how powerful the microbiome connection really is.
