this will be reason infinity that I end up deciding to homeschool my kids. Not that I wasn't going to, because I've been planning on that for a long time. At this point, one of the very first things that I absolutely loved about my husband as he was becoming my husband, is during our wedding prep with the church, we had to answer things about how we planned to raise our family and make sure we were on the same page with expectations. And he wrote in his little workbook, we will never be sending our children to government run schools. They are indoctrination camps designed to ruin your child's ability to hot be ungovernable. This is propaganda. But homeschooling and the debate over it is back in the news this week after far left podcaster Jennifer Welch, who you may have recognized going viral this week because she's had some exceptionally bad takes as of late, decided with her co host Angie to go after homeschooling of all things. And there are a lot of things going on in the news cycle that should make you a little frustrated, a little angry, okay? To incite some emotional response. Response. But let me just say other people sending their kids not to public school but to homeschool should not make you this angry. Okay? This all started when Jennifer's co host Angie on their podcast decided to bash homeschooling, mostly Christian religious homeschooling because of the people in her alleged Bible study that are all homeschooling their kids triggering.

I know you would not believe how many people in Bible study homeschool their kids. And you just think I worry about that. And then you see those witness booklets or whatever they're called that the Duggars use, and they're like, top out at eighth grade. I mean, I just think homeschooling is a bad idea. From soup to nuts. I don't care if you're a nuclear physicist. I think it's just weird that you want your kids around you all day, every day and all night. And just the socialization, for me personally, it was that I would have gotten up on my hands and knees and strapped them to my back and crawled to get them to school every day just to get them where I wasn't. So I don't trust somebody that wants to be with their kids 24 7. I think a lot of dumb people do it because it's just easier. And that's a concern.

I've had divorce cases that, like, moms get mad at dad. They're fighting over whose school district kids going to use their address. They put them on homeschool. It's like two or three hours a day at the computer, and then kids going just off to the races. So I just can't think of very many good things about homeschooling.

Question just real quick. As a parent myself, I spend almost 24 hours a day with my daughter, who's not old enough to be in school yet. She's only 15 months, but even spending almost 24 hours a day with her, I am desperate to spend even more time with my kid.

as f. Math ain't mathin' for me. Obviously, this incited quite a response, and people across the Internet have been responding appropriately, saying this is insane all week. But she wasn't the only one that slammed homeschooling on the show. Jennifer, who describes herself as a progressive atheist from the Bible Belt and who is the author of Not Today, Fascist. I'll let you guess who the fascists in her book are. It's probably pretty obvious, followed up those attacks herself, saying homeschoolers and people who had been homeschooled during their life fear critical thinking more than anything on the planet and that they are incapable of the skills of reason and deduction.

These are people that fear critical thinking more than anything on the planet that have to be taught a script of reality and that they're incapable of critically thinking, they're incapable of deduction skills. And what pisses me off about this the most is how many parents project a script onto their kids. I'm a dumbass, so therefore I'm going to make sure you're a dumbass. I'm an idiot. I made D's. As our caller said Ellie, she you know the people the dumbest people she knew in college were homeschooling their kids. And so this is trickle down stupidity. This is maga on steroids. This is Maha, this is trad wife. This is unvaxxed and unjacked and all that. This is the worst, worst, worst in this is America has a crazy Christian problem. We have a fundamental crazy Christian problem.

Lots to unpack there. Watching these two insane women actually start a pretty important conversation has me thinking about the other hard but important conversations we need to have to pull our culture back from those who are seeking to destroy it. But the lack of ability to see the irony from these women, who are so classy, by the way, dropping the F bomb every two seconds, where they are quite literally describing the public education system like, to a T, no critical thinking. We feed you a script. It's like a factory farm to make your kids into dumbasses that just believe everything that the dumbest person in college ends up teaching them. By the way, the dumbest people I knew in college ended up becoming public school teachers. All of them. I swear, the cognitive dissonance and there seems to be no sign of intelligent life anywhere. Not that I needed these women to further convince me to homeschool my kids so that they don't end up like them. But everyone across the Internet ended up responding to this viral moment on this podcast saying, you're insane. I was homeschooled. I was far more prepared for college and for the workforce than any of my friends who went through public school. I planning on homeschooling my kids. I am homeschooling my kids right now. I mean, millions of people came out of the woodwork to talk about this. And Jennifer Welch, in all of her brilliance, decided to double down and go even harder against the homeschool families.

Listen to this and I stand by it. The homeschooling that I was referring to is the crazy Christian homeschooling. It is trickle down stupidity. It you have to be dumber than a box of hot rocks to sit down with your kids and teach them that dinosaurs and man lived on the planet at the same time that the earth is 5,000 years old. And on and on. But more than anything, the reason they're melting down so much about this is because homeschooling is inherently patriarchal. And it is a huge push of the fascist project because it keeps women at home. And over 90% of all homeschooling parents are the mother. You know, they don't want women to be out in the workforce to make their own money and have independence so they can divorce their piece of closet case husbands when they find out. No, they want the women at home debt broke, homeschooling the kids. This is a patriarchal step of the fascist product project. And I will just say to Brian Kilmeade and Tommy Lahren, do you homeschool your kids? Do you, do you do that with a full time job? What do you do? Do you do it at night? Do you start at 8pm and end at 1 2am Is that how your family values go? So if you don't homeschool your kids, shut the up, you two. And to the Fox News producers, have fun watching my show. It's pathetic. You should be covering this fascist regime in this fascist takeover and not some podcaster, as per Tommy, that people just watch for entertainment.

Interesting. Interesting. Jennifer, I feel like you might know the definition of fascism a little bit better if you had been homeschooled. Ironically, because it is indeed the public school system in America right now that is pushing the values of fascism with no opportunity for ideological discourse or disagreement, no opportunity for a debate. I mean, for God's sakes, things have gotten so bad on a college campus that the one guy who dedicated his entire life to open forum conversations in an academic setting was violently assassinated whilst doing that very thing 11 months ago. But again, tell me you have no idea what you're talking about without telling me you have literally no idea what you're talking about. Luckily, the average American seems to have their head together. Or maybe in her words, be dumber than a box of rocks, more than Jennifer Welch, and understand the reality of the American school system, especially after COVID 19 and in America. We saw homeschooling absolutely explode in the era of COVID Gee, I wonder why, when kids were forced to sit six feet apart, wear masks, not speak to anyone, not look at anyone, not touch anyone for eight hours a day, not even go outside, basically like maximum security solitary confinement prison. And we did that to our kids. Sometimes I forget we actually lived through that era of history. But I digress. It was, I believe, the greatest gift that could possibly come out of COVID To see so many families retake responsibility for the education of their kids and certainly is what set me up going into my adult life to say I am never ever allowing my kids to endure something that should never have become normalized in the first place. I'm taking back ownership of that once I have a family of my own someday. And millions, literally of other American families have said the same. Today there are about three and a half million active homeschool students in America, nine million who have been homeschooled by the time of 2020. And just for the record, that three and a half million makes up about 6%, a little over 6% of the school aged population. So tells me American families are wholeheartedly beginning to reject what we accepted as normal for the last 100 years in education. And the biggest leaps in growth of homeschooling happened from 2019 to 2020 in that school year and then 2020 to 2021. And if you've been paying attention at all or know anyone who's ever been homeschooled, you probably know that on virtually every single metric academic employment, mental health, crime statistics, family life with all of it, homeschoolers are faring far significantly better than anyone who went through traditional American public school. If you zoom in on just the black population America, Black homeschool students are scoring 23 to 42 percentage points higher than black public school students. That's insane. Homeschool students are more likely to be involved in educational and non educational extracurriculars outside of their academic curriculum. Virtually every study ever conducted on homeschooling shows that homeschool students do better on social, emotional and psychological development milestones. Most research suggests that even when they're stuck at home with their crazy Christian fascist parents, homeschool students actually suffer less harm and physical abuse in their own home from their family. Shocker. Graduates of homeschool programs participate in serving their local community through community service and volunteer work far more than public school students. Long term homeschoolers are the most likely group of people to do long term unpaid volunteer work or volunteer with a religious organization or their church later in life. Homeschoolers go to college at an equal or higher rate than those who went to traditional brick and mortar schools. And get this, adults who were homeschooled are far more politically tolerant of other beliefs than those who have gone through public school. Color me shocked. Especially for boys who today in the traditional school system are instantaneously labeled with an ADHD diagnosis and shoved on psychiatric medication when they're in elementary school because news slash boys want to run around and touch things and be in the dirt and play outside. Boys are thriving in homeschool environments in a way that they just aren't actually the opposite, are objectively failing and are being taught to go against their very human nature in the American public school system. I honestly don't know how these two psycho women sleep at night just crapping on millions of American families. Although that's what they do in their comments and in their content every single day anyway. If you don't want your children to turn out like Angie and Jennifer, you probably should figure out the sacrifice of homeschooling them which is a sacrifice. Don't get me wrong, Angie said that somehow it's easier to homeschool your kids. So that's why dumb people end up doing it. No, no, no. It is a major sacrifice to have to go through the curriculum yourself, share it with your kids, take time out of your day, plan your family schedule around all of this. Although ask any of my homeschool family friends and they'll tell you that school doesn't really take eight hours a day. Their kids are skipping grades, only doing actual school school work for a few hours a day. But there's also a sacrifice involved in shipping your kids off to government run institutions to be put through the indoctrination machine. I guess we just have to ask ourselves, which sacrifice am I more willing to make on behalf of my kids? I know the answer.
