Ep626 of J-Talk (recorded on 6/26!) features the dulcet tones and positive vibes of Alan Gibson, who joined Jonny and Ben to review Japan's draw with Sweden* (to 21:05) and look ahead to the Samurai Blue's cataclysmic meeting with Brazil this Tuesday morning Japan time. Unfortunately, the * is above because we had significant issues with the audio file - as touched on in the intro before the episode begins - but once you reach the six minute mark its all smooth sailing from there.

In this episode of J-Talk: Extra Time, Jon Steele tells James Taylor about his experience at the All Star Cup. Jonny and Ben were thrilled to welcome former J-Talk co-host Sam Robson back to the pod to review Japan's superb 4-0 romp over Tunisia in their second Group F match at the World Cup. We chat about Hajime Moriyasu's changes from the Netherlands game, and bask in the glory of Ayase Ueda's tour de force (to 48:20), before wrapping up the episode with a general look at the early stages of the World Cup. While we're focused on the World Cup, the wheels have started to spin in the transfer market, and Jonny has his summer J.League transfer Google doc up and running, check back periodically as Jonny adds each confirmed coming and going.

Jonny and Ben were joined by Ryo Nakagawara to run the rule over Japan's World Cup opener against the Netherlands. We cover all of the major incidents from the game, Japan's best performers, and some players who will need to buck up their ideas in the next match vs Tunisia.

The J2/J3 100 Year Vision League drew to a close with the 2nd round of playoff fixtures, and in this episode James Taylor and new JPred champion Jon Steele discussed the match to decide who was overall winner, Sendai v Toyama (to 14:00). They then moved on to talk about Yokohama FC’s final game at home to Yamaguchi (to 27:10), and ended with a look at Kanazawa v Gunma (to 39:35), managerial changes (to 51:20), and a preview of the All Star Game (to end). Jonny and Ben review the J1 playoff 2nd legs on this episode, beginning with Kashima's home win that was merely window dressing as Kobe claimed the CEJLC title with a 5-2 aggregate win (to 35:50). Then we select our Best XI from the east across the league phase, and finish the pod with a brief look ahead to Japan's World Cup opener against the Netherlands. #We are aware of a couple of audio issues during the episode, most notably around the 42:20 mark, where Jonny's selection of Alex Scholz for one of the centre back spots in our Best XI mysteriously disappeared from the audio file, the audio picks up with Ben agreeing with Jonny's selection.#
