Being informed is getting harder and harder. Everyone has an agenda. Some help you. Some get you to stay tuned it. Others get you to question. I want to question. Because that's we're growth is. So I brought Tim Dillon on the show. He's a stand-up comedian. Which means he does MORE than just comedy. It means he looks at the world with a different lens. He looks for the absurd. And points it out. So we can all see the hypocrisy in life, in history and in our own heads. Learning conspiracies and comedy can be entertainment. Or it can be a learning ground for questioning, discernment and curiosity. I choose the ladder. Here's my interview with Tim Dillon. I write about all my podcasts! I've been waiting for this moment. For seven years. Because 7 years ago my good friend Kamal Ravikant SELF-published a book. He uploaded it to Amazon. And sold half a million copies. This was without a publisher. Or a marketing team. Or any advance money. He just did it on his own. And it was hugely successful. He was able to use this money to pay for his rent in San Fransisco and basically all of his living for years. The book is called, "Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends on It." And now he's rewriting the book. And expanding on it. Because he got a lot of questions about the mechanics of loving yourself. People understood from the first copy why it was valuable. But they hoped for more guidance on how to do it themselves. So that's what this podcast is about. It's how to love yourself like your life depended on it. Plus we also talk about the benefits of self-publishing, bypassing the gatekeepers, being creative, being reflective and more. So here's the show and if you like it, please let us know. I read all the comments and tweets. And use them to make better and better shows in the future. Thanks -James I write about all my podcasts! I sat down with the expert, Tom Quiggin from Quiggin Report, and ask him the big question. "Iran: Why now!? And what next!? Will be there another World War?" Tom analyzed and explained the situation to me. I write about all my podcasts! Check out the full post and learn what I learned at jamesaltucher.com/podcast. Thanks so much for listening! What are strong narratives and what are weak narratives? I sat down with comedian Brian Scott McFadden and we broke down the narratives of all of the presidential candidates to discover what we can learn from each of them and how we might form strong narratives for ourselves. I also wrote an article about it: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/democratic-disaster-last-night-how-candidates-can-james-altucher/?trackingId=cOH9XPfBQVGug6qlU1GHTQ%3D%3D I write about all my podcasts! Amy asked a big question. She said, "Ten years from now when I look back at this decade of my life, am I going to be impressed with how I spent it?" She asks a lot of big questions. Because she's a psychotherapist and the author of the international bestseller, "13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do." She's a regular on this show. Because we're friends. But also because I always learn from her. This time we talked about giving yourself permission to quit things that aren't right for you anymore, becoming mentally strong, learning how to use that muscle, and a lot of other things that promote healthy behavior and choosing yourself.
