Jim Acosta
Welcome to the Post speech edition of the Jim Acosta Show. Michael Fone is on with me right now. You've heard of the Democratic response. This is the Phenone response. And, and Mike, you might have been. You might have been caught by some of our early viewers there. Just a few moments ago, you were just saying you. You had a comment for me as we were getting started here.
Michael Fanon
Yeah, no, I mean, I. Jim, I love you and I have nothing but respect for you, but you for making me watch that.
Jim Acosta
I deserve that. That's true. That's fair. And I. And I welcome that. I want to jump right into it because I think you and I might get on YouTube in a few minutes here and go talk to Don Lemon, which. That'll be a completely different kind of shit show. But let's talk about Trump's speech because, I mean, the part that I have to ask you about, you said at one point, we must bring back law and order to our cities and our towns. I mean, obviously, you know, he's completely leaving out the fact that he pardoned all those January 6th rioters and insurrectionists, but, I mean, we. It was an hour and 35 minute or hour and 40 minute speech. He somehow left that out. Your thoughts?
Michael Fanon
Well, I mean, my first reaction was, Mr. Trump, what you just said was one of the most insanely idiotic things that I've ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response or even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought, everyone in this country is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points. And may God have mercy on your soul. Yeah, I honestly, I don't even. It was difficult for me to digest anything that he said. I mean, there are a couple things that piqued my interest. One of them was, you know, the, you know, bringing attention to the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Jim Acosta
Sure.
Michael Fanon
This was something that he had orchestrated by inviting the Taliban. The Taliban to Camp David to negotiate.
Jim Acosta
That's right.
Michael Fanon
A withdrawal. And then, you know, but he was very, very careful to talk about, you know, it was the way with. Withdrew. Not the withdrawal, but the way we withdrew.
Jim Acosta
Yeah.
Michael Fanon
Placing all the blame on the Biden administration. The second thing was his purported love for and respect for American law enforcement.
Jim Acosta
Yeah.
Michael Fanon
Despite having just pardoned the hundreds of convicted cop assaulters, hundreds of individuals whom he inspired through his lies to storm the Capitol attack. American law enforcement officers, myself included, he pardoned those individuals and released them back onto American streets in numbers that I would venture to say we're probably much more than any of the individuals who crossed over into this border or over our border illegally and then committed crimes as a result of that. I think that Donald Trump himself is the, the largest importer of crimes against law enforcement in this country. You know, much more so than, than any foreign nation.
Jim Acosta
Yeah, I mean, it was definitely a bullshit of palooza. I mean, it was, you know, forget fact checking. You know, you could get fact checkers. We need checkers. And there's just, it was just one line of BS after another. And the other thing, to your point, Mike, some of those January six folks who have been pardoned are already reoffending. So when he goes off on immigration and talks about people being let out, reoffending and so on, I mean, he's, he, he let a bunch of January six people off the hook who are already reoffending and get. Getting rearrested all over again. Correct.
Michael Fanon
And let's talk about the crimes that they're getting rearrested for. First of all, two, two individuals have had violent encounters with American law enforcement officers, not D.C. police, not U.S. capitol Police, that have resulted in the deaths of those individuals at the hands of law enforcement because they engaged them violently. You also have individuals who've been charged with, you know, child pornography. You've got individuals who've been charged with weapons possession. You have a whole host of re offenders because the individuals that stormed the Capitol that day, it was not Grandma and Grandpa, it was people who were predisposed to committing acts of violence that Donald Trump emboldened and Donald Trump gave the, you know, permission to commit these crimes. And, and so here we are, criminals committing crimes on behalf of Donald Trump, feeling emboldened because of the pardons.
Jim Acosta
It's on him. It's on him. Any, any crime, any major crime that is committed from here on out by a Jan. 6 person who was let off the hook, pardoned, had their sentence community. So that's on him. And so he can go off about, you know, Biden with the open border and all this other stuff, and anybody who came across, if they do something, that's on Biden, but he, he did something right after he came into office. You and I have talked about this many times. That is on him, that whatever, whatever takes place that's carried out by one of those individuals is on him. I mean, you know, this, you know, he was full of BS at just about every term. He talked about bringing back free speech. We'll tell that to the Associated Press, tell that to the Congressman Green who got, you know, you know, strong arm.
Michael Fanon
Removed from the, removed from the chamber.
Jim Acosta
Remember when Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert were hopping up and down and they look like, you know, I mean, it was just an embarrassment to the country. And I mean, were they, they weren't removed as far as I remember. So, you know, it was just a, it was just an ugly spectacle. And, you know, for all the talk, I mean, there was one point where Trump was talking about Doge and, you know, praising Elon Musk and everything. He actually said at one point that Elon Musk heads up Doge, which is going to be interesting in court because the Trump administration has been trying to say, oh, no, Elon Musk is not really officially in charge of Doge. Well, Trump said it tonight during his, during his speech.
Michael Fanon
Right. I mean, they made official representations in court that Elon Musk is not the head of Doge, that it is some woman that, I mean, I don't know, I can't remember her name. And most Americans probably would have absolutely no idea who she is. But, you know, here we are.
Jim Acosta
Yeah. And you know, the thing that bugs me about, I mean, there's another point where he said, you know, the days of unelected bureaucrats running things are over meanwhile. And I think they might have cut right at that point to Elon Musk. It was, or at least it felt that way. You know, this is who he is. This is who Donald Trump is. I mean, he gave this long ass speech even though he's only been in office for six weeks. I mean, even Fidel Castro, I think, got up out of his grave and said, go to bed, Donald. You know, it was one of those things, right?
Michael Fanon
No, I mean, I know that there was a teleprompter there. I just doubt that there was actually anything projected on the teleprompter. I think that Donald Trump was just pulling all of these facts and figures, and I use that term in air quotations, completely out of his ass. I mean, it was just, you know, whatever I, I think is going to, you know, fit or justify what it is that I'm about to say, I'm just going to throw it out there. And you know, I mean, it. The sad thing is like the legacy media, media, those that are still engaged in fact checking Donald Trump are not going to be listened to. And then the vast majority have just capitulated and decided that, you know, we're just going to present Donald Trump's speeches as is. We're not going to fact check. You know, we're not going to push back at all. We're just going to present the American people with. Yeah, you know, with those, you know.
Jim Acosta
You can jack up all those fact checkers on, on Mountain Dew and Red Bull and everything else. There's no way you could piece through every one of those bald faced lies that he was telling tonight. And then there was just the other stuff that is just, it's just nonsense. Is sort of like the uncle that you have that you. Everything he says you have to divide by six. When Trump says, you know, are we going to be in Ukraine for another five years? While at the same time he's saying going to take the Panama Canal and on Greenland, he's saying, one way or the other, we're going to get it. Okay, so are we going to invade those countries? So war is bad over here in Ukraine, but we're going to grab, I mean, you know, Vladimir Putin in Ukraine. You know, you shouldn't be taking Ukraine over here. I guess Trump doesn't even really say that, but over here he's saying, I'm going to take Greenland and the Panama Canal. And he doesn't really get to the point as to who's gonna, who's gonna be involved in that. We're gonna send American troops in there. Who the hell knows? You know, it's, it's a mystery. But, Mike, good to talk to you. How about you and I, we'll hop over to YouTube and we'll see what Don Lemon is doing over there. If folks are watching our substack right now, Don Lemon wants Mike Fanon and I to go on YouTube with him. Sounds like a really bad idea. But we're gonna, we're gonna go everybody.
Michael Fanon
That got canceled from CNN on, on our own, you know, Canceled News Network.
Jim Acosta
So I didn't say it. You did. But.
Michael Fanon
All right, stay tuned.
Jim Acosta
And with that, I. All right, so with that, we're going to switch over to, to Don. And so I don't know how this works on the Internet, but switch the channel. Watch Don on YouTube and we're going to go try to do that. You and I are trying to figure this out at this late hour is also going to be comical as well. But. All right, good to see you, Mike. Take care, man.
Michael Fanon
All right, buddy.
Jim Acosta
All right, so we told Don. I haven't talked to Don on here, and I don't know how long it's been a while, but it's very late. I want to talk to Fanon. I wanted to get the Fanon response. That's what I'M calling right there. All right, I'm going to hang up here, guys. If you can, if you get the YouTube thing and you want to watch me on Don Lemon. I told Don I would do that, so I'm going to do that now. Talk to you guys over there in just a second. Still reporting from Washington, I'm Jim Acosta. Thanks to Mike for now and see you. See you guys later. Take care. Bye.
