I thought he's on air already.
Ish
No, we're on now.
Parks
Oh, we here.
Joe Budden
Yo.
Ish
Hi, my injured, injured brethren.
Parks
How y'all feeling?
Joe Budden
Kevin Gates.
Parks
Good day, my brothers.
Flip
What you asking me?
Joe Budden
Two for the plug. One. Yeah. Come on. Kevin Gates. Sir. There you go.
Flip
I'm not supposed to be here today, bro.
Ish
Why not?
Mal
Why?
Joe Budden
Where you supposed to be?
Flip
On vacation.
Parks
What happened?
Melissa
Oh, what happened?
Joe Budden
What happened?
Flip
I don't have an event coming up this weekend.
Parks
Shorty had to change your plans?
Flip
No, no, I just have an event coming up this weekend, so, you know, I had to stay back and focus on that priority. Promote the job.
Joe Budden
Promote it.
Flip
You're being the positivity highlighter.
Mal
Yes, I got the wound this weekend.
Flip
I may not be. I may not be here Friday, but, you know, I'm here today. I just want to show moral support.
Joe Budden
Damn, man.
Ish
Had big plans for you on Friday.
Joe Budden
Fans Flip won't be here at the next part, and I'm sad about that.
Flip
No, you're not.
Joe Budden
No, that's behind the scenes.
Flip
You just talking to me just now.
Joe Budden
No, I wasn't.
Mal
I said.
Joe Budden
I told you.
Flip
Go ahead. Go, go.
Joe Budden
Yeah, you can leave whenever you want. I ain't gonna beef about it. Yes, sir. And you have an understanding.
Flip
All right.
Joe Budden
We gotta understand.
Flip
Yeah. But I'm here. Happy to be here. Happy to see you all. It feels good to watch a bunch of old men yawn and be hurt while I'm over here young and I could kick my legs off stretching.
Parks
You didn't do anything right there, bro.
Flip
Young. You ain't young.
Mal
You're not young.
Flip
Two more years to 40.
Parks
That's not young.
Flip
Listen, I'm a whole lot. I'mma hold on to it. I'mma hold on to it. I'm about to dye my beard. I'm about to get some surgery, lose some weight. I'm about to do something. I need to hold on to that.
Parks
You want a bbl?
Flip
Maybe?
Joe Budden
You gonna dye your beard for real?
Flip
I am. Shit. Too gray, yo.
Parks
Like, come on.
Flip
I got a big gray patch like here. Both sides. Yeah, it's not even gray, right?
Parks
That's the annoying shit, yo.
Joe Budden
Gray, right proportion.
Flip
Right. I got two big Gray patches.
Ish
Perfect.
Joe Budden
Means you didn't stress enough.
Flip
You like that? Means that stress.
Joe Budden
You didn't stress enough. You lived a good life.
Parks
Are you crazy? No, you're right.
Joe Budden
That's what it means.
Ish
You could go down to just the goatee.
Joe Budden
That's what it means.
Flip
Oh, I'm like. I'm like one of them Christmas. I only want to be with you.
Joe Budden
All right, y'all. Playing. This is how we be here for five hours. I'm leaving in the first at a certain time.
Flip
What's going on today? Why you leaving early?
Joe Budden
Nothing.
Ish
Got to go rest.
Joe Budden
Going on the bed. The bed. Leg compressions and cryotherapy.
Ish
I forgot to bring out my little massage gun.
Joe Budden
Yeah, break that.
Flip
I mean, you're dedicated to the work, cuz. While injured.
Joe Budden
I'm twisted. Yeah, I'm twisted still. I mean, better than yesterday.
Mal
Yeah, yesterday's the rough one.
Parks
Second day is the worst.
Mal
Yeah, second day kicked me.
Ish
Nah, my Sunday was bad. I couldn't walk.
Joe Budden
We went to go for the people unaware. We went to go. We had the bright idea, genius, the genius plan of going to rent a gym on Saturday night at 6pm and play basketball.
Ish
That was the problem. Yeah, the start time, I think, was really the big issue.
Melissa
We're all, wait, so wait, what would have happened if it would started at 1pm?
Ish
It would have been better.
Mal
Night and day.
Joe Budden
Amen. You just up?
Melissa
I don't think so.
Ish
I don't think so.
Parks
You would have got hurt with the sun. I don't think so.
Ish
Our bodies are ready for bed at 6:00. We need to get that early.
Joe Budden
I was falling asleep on the way to the gym. Like, I was like, damn, this is normally my nap time. So I think my body was a little confused.
Mal
Why are we doing things?
Joe Budden
And then, and then the closer we got to the gym now, like the closer you get to the bathroom when you gotta use it, like, you start pissing on yourself a little bit. Like you piss on your thigh a.
Ish
Little bit, turtles start coming out.
Joe Budden
Little yellow stains on your drawers. Just a little sprinkle like it's that. The closer we got to the gym, my body was telling myself, yo, dog, what are you doing? What are you doing right now? And then we got there, I said, you know what? Let me stretch. And during the stretch, hurt herself.
Parks
I said, you stretched?
Joe Budden
Yeah, yeah, I was there early. And during the stretch, I'm like this. I'm tired now.
Ish
I was tired from the shoot around.
Joe Budden
And then I grabbed the ball and did a little shoot around and I say, yo, I'm tired.
Ish
I think I jammed my thumb and shoot around. That's really what the most pain is for me.
Joe Budden
Oh, God. I have so much respect for anybody that's ever played basketball at any level. Yo. Rudy Fernandez, Hernandez, Jose Alvarez. Anybody I ever thought was J. Cole.
Melissa
Obama.
Ish
Yeah.
Joe Budden
Anybody that's ever played ball. Yo. My. Oh, my God.
Ish
Yo, I haven't decided if I need to play more basketball or completely retire.
Joe Budden
Yo, it's one of those.
Melissa
I think it would have been okay if you had better shoes, though.
Ish
Huh?
Melissa
I think you would have been okay if you had better shoes.
Ish
Maybe, yeah.
Parks
What, you was balling in Pumas?
Mal
Oh, yeah.
Joe Budden
Low top and jeans.
Parks
Jean shorts.
Mal
Jean shorts is crazy. The answer is more.
Parks
I think so.
Mal
The answer is more.
Parks
It's more.
Mal
But you won't. You'll feel better.
Ish
This is the first time I played. I played competitive basketball twice in the last 20 years. Saturday being the second of the dog. That's not enough.
Parks
No, it ain't 20 for me, but it's a good eight. That was the first time I probably hooped in like eight years.
Mal
I thought I had an advantage. Cause it was my second time playing in five. In five. Right. I played a few weeks ago, you know. Yeah, no, I got to a point I thought I was gonna have the jump too. Cause I shot on Friday.
Melissa
We all thought you were gonna have the jump, but, yeah, it didn't really turn out that way.
Mal
It didn't turn that way at all.
Parks
I ain't gonna lie, though. Pre injuries, that shit felt amazing.
Ish
It did.
Parks
Oh, even gasping for air felt amazing.
Joe Budden
It did.
Parks
You know what I'm saying? Like, being tired, all of that shit. Pick left. Watch out. The bump the bru. All of that shit felt good.
Mal
Oh, it was fun.
Parks
My feet ain't get the memo. Like, none of my body feet. My brain is like, yo, I had Keeb sticking me. I thought that was a little insulting.
Ish
Nah, Kee was the iq.
Flip
Keeb was the mvp.
Parks
Shit, Joe's the mvp. But Keebs in shape more than all of us.
Mal
That's what I'm saying. Keep. Stay healthy.
Joe Budden
High basketball IQ he did was in great shape. That IQ shit. As you age, you start to see our bodies ain't good for shit. That's good for me.
Parks
I was like, yo, like, cool.
Joe Budden
I had a good time. That was a great idea. Next time I will do things differently. I have some subs.
Ish
Yeah, yeah, we could. We could have read threes and used them and subs.
Joe Budden
Subs there. Next Time, cuz. When I posted the picture of me and Mark looking half dead, laying on the floor like the niggas, I know that hoop a little bit, they was hyped. Yeah, yo, your bum ass went out there, let me know next time, let me know next time. I was like, okay, I can get some subs in this thing. But I think that's exactly what my 44 year old ass needed. That's exactly what I needed to do at 44 on my sit down on the couch and talk job for the last 10 years. I needed to go out there and run my body around and see the effects of the shit. And boy, did I wake up, call.
Ish
I work out and I thought that was enough. It's not enough.
Mal
It's not enough if you don't play ball. What they say is when you're young, you play ball to get in shape. And when you get older, you have to get in shape to be able to play ball. Because when you hit your 40s, your skill diminishes with your lack of conditioning. So you can't shoot if you don't have any legs and mobility because your.
Parks
Mobility, coordination is off. Just even shooting a jump shot, you're not planting your feet the right way. All of that shit.
Ish
Yeah, my mechanics were horrible.
Parks
It was horrible. I couldn't show us. We think we just got it.
Joe Budden
I got it.
Parks
Niggas think like I go out there.
Joe Budden
And pick the ball up. The funny part is how I was talking before this game. Oh yeah, I, I had the 31.
Melissa
Year old picture of myself every day in here.
Joe Budden
Wait, hold on, hold on, hold on. What'd you say?
Ish
A little hate?
Melissa
No, no, absolutely.
Ish
Make some time for a little hate.
Joe Budden
Go ahead.
Melissa
Absolutely.
Parks
Said you think you 31 every time they come in. No.
Melissa
What? He just said no, no. Thinking that, you know.
Joe Budden
Oh, she's talking about that male macho bravado that will just lead with our ego.
Melissa
You guys definitely support each other's delusion up here.
Joe Budden
Yeah, she has a real version of what we. Through the female gaze, but she won't ever tell us because our egos are fragile too. And she knows that working with us.
Melissa
Listen, I'm.
Joe Budden
That's really the truth.
Melissa
It is. I'm an interloper here. I'm the only girl.
Joe Budden
But it's also reciprocated.
Melissa
How's that? What do you mean?
Mal
Ho.
Parks
Wham.
Ish
He's saying you ain't no spring chicken yourself.
Melissa
I've never claimed to be so. But the, but the record is the record. No I'm saying we can see where Melissa is five to six days a week on her Instagram page. Getting her mobility up, getting her strength and endurance up.
Flip
Talk about it.
Joe Budden
No.
Ish
What sport do you play?
Melissa
Pilates?
Ish
No. What if you were to play what we just did? What would that be? Volleyball? Softball?
Melissa
Volleyball or baseball?
Joe Budden
You. You are healthier than us. Clearly, in Samaria.
Flip
Yes, she is.
Joe Budden
The reciprocal part is we are much healthier than you in Samaria's.
Melissa
Please elaborate.
Joe Budden
I can't.
Mal
Don't get crazy.
Joe Budden
Are you fucking crazy? You think I was bored yesterday?
Flip
A lot of us are in relationships.
Joe Budden
Wait, what did he say?
Parks
What you just said.
Melissa
You think that's what makes.
Joe Budden
Wait, what did he say?
Flip
Because a lot of us are in committed relationships.
Melissa
Have you heard the statistics about single, childless women being healthier than their counterparts who are. I'm very well aware of it. However, men who are in relationships are healthier than their single counterparts.
Mal
That's true.
Melissa
Yes.
Parks
I was going to say, quote the.
Joe Budden
Quote.
Parks
Statistics.
Melissa
No, that's the. Yeah. No, that's the.
Joe Budden
She be ready to go in. She got all the.
Melissa
Agree with me.
Joe Budden
I got the. Out of there. I'm out of there. I'm out of there. That's a smart. I know.
Flip
It's not a flip.
Parks
Nope.
Joe Budden
I'm out of it.
Flip
I'm out of it, too.
Joe Budden
You crazy?
Flip
I just feel like a lot of us are in healthy relationships and we're happy.
Joe Budden
No, but here's my icing on the mail cake. And then I'm out of here.
Parks
There you go.
Joe Budden
There you go. No, I think that some of us would be able to handle your truth about us better than you would be able to handle our truth about you. But just keep that in mind as you're calling us fragile. And you use the word fragile, but you agree.
Melissa
You use the word fragrance, but you agree. I didn't say that our shit is fragile.
Joe Budden
It's all right. But that's also what I learned out there. I'm fragiler than I thought, yo. I'm fragiler than I thought, yo. You know what I fucking thought of in the following days after we worked out? You know what I'm so grateful for?
Ish
Advil.
Joe Budden
You know what I never thought. Yes, Advil.
Ish
Ice. Knees, ankles, thumbs, Stomachs is one for me.
Joe Budden
I never thought about just how many times I use my knees in life because I'm blessed to be healthy. But all that sitting and bending and getting up and. They almost killed myself trying to take a shit the other day. I almost missed the Whole toilet, sit down, be rough. I almost missed completely thinking I know where shit is.
Parks
No. And when you get up, you got rocked rock.
Joe Budden
You get up, you got flag to get naked. I had to reach for something to get up the other day. It has been bad.
Ish
I took like an hour long bath. Like a. Oh, my God, Epsom.
Joe Budden
Yes.
Ish
That shit worked too.
Parks
Epsom is the truth.
Ish
I didn't. I've never had that success with Epsom before. That shit got my ankle right.
Parks
You've never been 40 before.
Ish
That's true.
Mal
40 different.
Parks
Epsom, don't play with them.
Joe Budden
That's what happened with me. My girl tricked me into go doing some shit I never heard of. She see me in the bed dying and crying like a bitch, says, yo, I'm gonna book you some cryotherapy. She got athlete kids. She got athlete kids. So she thinks you got to step up in some information. Thank you, baby, for helping me out. Book it. I don't know what the fuck that is.
Ish
That's the ice bath shit.
Joe Budden
I don't know. I don't know what it is though. I'm just telling a story. I don't know what that is. But your girl say it can help you. She loves you. She got your best interest. Go ahead and book the shit.
Ish
Little criminal therapy.
Joe Budden
I go in there, I don't know what the fuck I'm doing, but I'm in this bitch. And they point me to some little closet and they say, all right, get down to your boxers and put all this stuff on. I started looking at the little utensils like a Resident Evil or one of them games where you unlock some. It's gloves. Ear muffs. Wait, it's gloves and then mittens for the gloves. Oh, it's earmuffs. A big ass, thick ass, Scully. Some eye shit. Oh, it's Madison.
Flip
I'm way.
Joe Budden
I'm like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Ish
Oh, you like Mr.
Joe Budden
Freeze?
Mal
I said, wait, wait.
Joe Budden
What you doing in there? Like, oh, yeah, you just gonna get in this thing? Have you done this before? We just gonna make this negative 175 degrees, stand there for about three minutes. Any songs you wanna listen to.
Parks
You did three minutes.
Melissa
That's all you do. That's the highest.
Joe Budden
That's not the highest.
Parks
You got the three minutes.
Joe Budden
It's not the highest.
Parks
Yes, you got the three minutes.
Joe Budden
That's not true. I did 245.
Parks
How about to say that's gangster shit?
Melissa
I was gonna say that, but there.
Joe Budden
Was a four minute option. Apparently my step kids do Four minutes.
Melissa
Wow.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Parks
Twice a week, the homies do four minutes.
Joe Budden
So I go in there. Well, I say, chris Brown. That's my new thing now, the MRI people. What'd you want to hear? Chris Brown. What you want to hear? You got a song you want to hear? Throw on some Chris Brown. So I get in there, that shit fog right up. Now you can't see shit. I'm in there freezing, talking about some fucking Robotussen. I don't know how this shit got me. Biggie right now, baby. That was the slowest 2:45 in the world. The clock right in front of you. Clock right in front of you.
Parks
Close your eyes.
Joe Budden
That's what makes it worse.
Parks
Gotta close your eyes.
Joe Budden
We take time for granted.
Parks
Yeah, we do.
Ish
Yeah.
Joe Budden
Three minutes is some shit now. If you're doing some shit. Yeah, but I did it. I got out of there. I want to thank you guys for coming out. I'm glad everybody came outside.
Ish
It was fun as hell.
Joe Budden
It was fun.
Ish
Even with the injury, it was fun.
Parks
That shit was fire.
Mal
Yeah.
Parks
Like, I'm mad. I got fucked up. Cause I'm like, yo, we could do this every two weeks or three weeks.
Flip
Shout out to the Hebrew Globetrotters, my man that was in the building. Know what I'm saying, Buck?
Joe Budden
Shout out to Buck D. Did Dirk.
Ish
Thanks. Take it easy on us.
Joe Budden
Buck, my guy.
Flip
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Joe Budden
Thank you.
Mal
He was definitely taking it easy on us.
Joe Budden
Buck has been Jersey City All American athlete for 25 years now. Forever. 25 years now. Yeah.
Flip
Hey, you know what? I realized that Mark is a man. Like, even though I feel like he pandas, he's a man's man, right? Cause when his wife came in the building, that nigga turned to Super Saiyan. He made sure I said, oh, look at Mark. I watch you carefully.
Mal
Super what?
Flip
Super Saiyan. Meaning what? That means a power up. Super Saiyan is Dragon Ball Z. Like, Goku powered up. And you just powered up. And I'm watching.
Parks
He was there from the first play.
Flip
Yeah. Nah, nah, nah.
Parks
I seen. I'm telling you.
Flip
All right, Let me just get my shit off. Let me get my shit off, man. I know you want to save him, white man. Listen, Sorry.
Mal
I'm sorry.
Flip
I just saw Mark when I watched, because Mark was, you know, shooting, but he just. To me, he went harder. Nigga, he said, I'm not going to look like a chump in front of my. In front of my lady. And she was supporting him.
Mal
And that's how I play. Anyway, I was talking shit to Corey. From the first play.
Parks
From the first play. No, that if he don't call foul, he don't get the ball. I'm like, okay, it's real now, because Imani gave Joe a foul. He's like, yo, he ain't call. He don't get no ball. Fuck that.
Flip
Imani really tried to hurt Joe.
Parks
That's what he want.
Ish
Not Imani. Joe's going at it.
Flip
I don't know.
Mal
That was my favorite thing to watch.
Flip
I don't know what was up with them two niggas. That's suspension. That's suspension. Joe like. Joe like, he's trying to hurt me. He came.
Joe Budden
No, Amani, really, you're right. He got some type of anger pent up about something that I don't know about. He tried to hurt me. He brought brass knuckles. Yo, that one play landed on my foot, like, on purpose. I felt like I was playing against that little dirty white boy. That's on Phoenix now from Duke. Grayson. Grayson Allen. Allen.
Parks
Grayson Allen.
Joe Budden
I felt like I was playing Puerto Rican. Grayson Allen. He tried to end me out there. God damn it.
Mal
Yo, he was intense. I was like, yo, you wanna switch? He was like, no, I will not switch.
Ish
I had to switch out with him at some point. Joe was giving him buckets all day.
Mal
Yeah, after the fifth bucket, I was like, hey, let's switch. He was like, no. Then you switch.
Joe Budden
Then back to that pride, back to that fragile ego. Yo, that's another thing. That is one of the moments where your ego has to be, like, tested on the. When your teammate look at you and be like, yo, you wanna switch? Let's switch.
Parks
I take this.
Joe Budden
No.
Parks
Especially when you over there getting cooked.
Ish
Yeah, you gotta switch.
Joe Budden
If you're getting cooked, you gotta switch.
Parks
You gotta switch.
Mal
You gotta switch. He ain't want to switch. I was happy.
Joe Budden
You ain't gonna let no five points.
Parks
He gonna not letting you switch. Five.
Ish
You might have had more than five.
Mal
At the point where I asked him to switch, I said, switch, I'll take him. He was like, no, I got him.
Melissa
And y'all were like, wait, you had five.
Parks
He had eight.
Flip
Joe had eight points.
Parks
Yeah, yeah, he had eight or nine.
Flip
Joe's mvp.
Mal
Seven of them were on the R B singer.
Parks
Oh, no, no, you're not gonna do that. Wait for E to get here.
Mal
I'm be here for Patreon. That's. I'm saving my. Nah. It was so much. We all. You know, it was. It was a lot of fun.
Ish
We were horrible, but it was so much Fun.
Parks
Yeah, it was fun.
Mal
It was. It was.
Ish
I can't wait till the video comes out so people can roast us.
Mal
Are they gonna cook us?
Joe Budden
Oh, my Lord.
Ish
What?
Mal
As they should.
Joe Budden
I'm not watching that, but I appreciate it. I'm gonna treat myself better. Word.
Parks
I wanted to ride the peloton in the morning with the fucked up Achilles.
Ish
I tried to work down.
Parks
It was terrible.
Joe Budden
Yeah, I'm gonna treat myself better. I text the trainer, go high. It's time.
Mal
Are we gonna commit to doing this once a quarter? Once a month? Once every other month? We'll play better if we play more.
Parks
The more you play, you'll start getting your everything back.
Mal
You'll start to get your coordination.
Melissa
Why don't we do different, you know, activities that, like, encourage, you know, more mobility?
Ish
I'm down for some volleyball.
Melissa
Volleyball?
Parks
What the is pickleball?
Ish
It's like.
Mal
Tennis for old people.
Joe Budden
If we do volleyball, I'm wearing the MCM and pumps in the bump shoes.
Ish
Indoor.
Joe Budden
Indoor. Where's Penos at the indoor garden telling you how I'm on it. If we do a volleyball.
Flip
We'Re in spanks.
Parks
Oh, man.
Joe Budden
I'm down for some bowling.
Flip
Bowling before.
Ish
That's easy.
Mal
I'm down.
Joe Budden
Laser attack. I don't know if this is a skydiving bunch. I did that already.
Mal
Jumping at.
Joe Budden
I'm not so mad at paintball.
Mal
I never.
Joe Budden
Paintball guy.
Ish
I could do paint.
Mal
Why don't you pick the activity so you be included? Why don't you pick the activity?
Melissa
These are the ones I can definitely do paintball. Volleyball niggers.
Flip
Which paintball or the one in pa the one with the.
Melissa
Where we're at. Like, outside?
Flip
Yeah. Put us in the forest.
Joe Budden
Yes.
Mal
Oh, I'm gotta do that.
Melissa
Yes.
Parks
I don't do that indoor. You gotta be outdoors.
Flip
Got you, my man.
Ish
I just got paintball standards. My bad.
Parks
Once you play outside outdoor paintball, you don't want to do that. You got the gun.
Ish
Okay.
Parks
You got the gun? No, I use this. My man and them had the gun. Them shits was 3 and $400 with all like. Like, yo, my nigga spent. Once you play tactical, it's like, all right, I'm never.
Flip
You don't want to play inside anymore.
Joe Budden
And I told y'all that somebody at my mom about an escape room. You know, Rochelle, you already know.
Ish
I haven't done that a minute.
Mal
Me either.
Parks
Escape rooms was our.
Joe Budden
So.
Ish
Yeah, always.
Joe Budden
I've always follow up on that. That might. That might be a good time.
Ish
Ball's an easy one, though. We should definitely do that pool.
Joe Budden
Pool might be pool.
Ish
I wouldn't be mad at like a whole little like bar. Bar.
Melissa
Ax throwing?
Ish
Yeah, I've never done that.
Mal
But I can shoot. I've never done no axe.
Parks
I've never done that.
Joe Budden
I've done an axe.
Parks
I can't shoot. And I'm trash. And pool. I'm trash.
Joe Budden
We really sound old. We have officially like that whole 10 year anniversary. We sound old as hell. Even though all the games y'all playing last time, many, many 15 years ago, however long. That was when I decided to leave my poconose room and go to the lodge, the central meeting area, the game center. I killed all them little white boys that was in there. Nigga, you crazy?
Mal
Darts.
Ish
Oh, darts.
Joe Budden
Darts, air hockey. What else they had in there? Ping pong. All these little 12 year old rich white boys.
Parks
You nice in ping pong?
Joe Budden
No, but I was better than them.
Parks
Gotcha.
Joe Budden
Yo, bring the kickball back, yo, after Saturday. I'm not saying I'm nice in nothing no more.
Parks
Nothing? No, nothing.
Joe Budden
I don't think I'm nice in nothing no more at all.
Mal
You gotta reevaluate. You can't have your 1996, 2006 mind because your body still think it's that. Like, my body still thinks it's 96 for like bursts of speed and then it's over. Then you'd be like, nigga, you can't play no more. Like you, you.
Joe Budden
I could have killed Mark ass. His little fast ass was zoomed to a spot because he fascinated by it. And then just be there. Yeah, shoot the ball. He's zooming around.
Parks
And everybody confidence was up.
Ish
Yeah.
Parks
Nobody was shooting.
Joe Budden
No.
Mal
Oh, I was like. I was scared to shoot at him.
Parks
Nobody.
Mal
I bricked the car. I was like, yeah, I'm gonna try and just pass. I'm gonna beat my man and pass.
Ish
That's what we were all trying to do.
Parks
Yeah, yeah.
Joe Budden
Game. Game 11 used to go a lot faster.
Parks
That shit took an hour to way faster.
Joe Budden
Game 11 used to be quick, but not so much when can't nobody score.
Mal
Yeah, yeah.
Joe Budden
My man was right under the basket with it. Who you? Everybody.
Parks
I'm just the dog. Every video I saw, layup after layup after layup, niggas DNA shooting that shit over.
Joe Budden
Over the backboard, yo.
Parks

That was the weekend?
Joe Budden
Yeah, that was it. That was the weekend. Well, I went on. The fight was after that.
Mal
That's right. I did go out to dinner Sunday night. I did go out to dinner, and I felt every minute of that. I'm talking about getting out the car. Getting into the car, sitting to. Oh, yeah, no, we went to some steakhouse in Montclair. That shit was like, man, I couldn't pick up the fort. My eyes was hurt. Everything was hurting. Lord.
Joe Budden
Did your wife know just how much pain your body was in, or did you try to tough it out?
Mal
I got a pretty high pain threshold. Cause I'm always getting injured from shit. You know what I mean? And so she heard me say that we might try this again. That picture I sent you of us on the ground, she took that picture. She didn't send that to commemorate it. She was like, stop, stop. She's like, look, this is what y'all look like whenever y'all think about doing this shit again. Look at this picture.
Joe Budden
Your wife is right. Let's just be wise later.
Mal
Exactly. I ain't gonna listen. We ain't gonna listen.
Joe Budden
Yeah. I didn't do shit. I stayed in bed. I stayed in bed. I didn't go nowhere. This might be the first weekend ever where I just didn't move. Baby free.
Ish
12 hours sober after that. That's wild.
Melissa
That Epsom salt bath will do that to you, too. Lay you out.
Parks
I shot down Orlando for my niece. Birthday party. Shout out to Baby Kylie.
Mal
You a good bro.
Parks
I've learned.
Joe Budden
I just love kids, man.
Parks
I just learned that I gotta learn how to swim. Yo. It really hit me, like, my daughter is daddy. Let's go. She take off, and I'm rolling with her.
Joe Budden
Come on. All right. Come on.
Parks
And you get to that little five feet, and your toes start to brush up against you. Five, six. So you only be, like, right here. You start realizing, like, all right.
Joe Budden
Is she going?
Parks
I'm like, yo, dawg, come back, bro. So that's my plan. I know how to keep saying it. I'm gonna learn how to swim.
Mal
Yo, if you. If you want to take a group class. Because I've tried to learn how to swim, like, four times.
Parks
You can't swim bad times.
Mal
You can't be that surprised.
Ish
A little surprised.
Joe Budden
Hey, that's racist.
Mal
I don't know how many of y'all can swim? Show of hands. Who can swim? Oh, I'm just gonna make a draw. Melanin? Really? So immigrants can swim, right? I meet a lot of Jamaicans, a lot of West Indians, Islanders. I know people can swim. Black Americans. Well, you're not Ados.
Flip
I'm not Ados, but we don't swim.
Joe Budden
Yeah, yeah.
Parks
No.
Melissa
They threw me back in, like, six months. I joined a baby school for swimming.
Joe Budden
Yep.
Mal
I almost. Your mom did that?
Melissa
Yeah. Well, yeah.
Flip
I almost drowned twice, so that's how I learned how to swim.
Mal
Oh, that's the other way. Okay.
Joe Budden
Somebody had the right idea. If somebody could have.
Flip
Joking.
Joe Budden
Followed through.
Flip
I almost drowned at Dunn's River Fall in Jamaica. Then I almost drowned in New Jersey at my cousin's pool when I was younger.
Melissa
Dunn's River. Like the waterfall thing?
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Flip
I almost drowned. Who threw you in that alligator palm? One of them shits. I almost. I drowned. Almost drowned. And they helped me three times.
Joe Budden
Almost. Good plan.
Flip
I drowned in Montego Bay, and then I almost drowned in New Brunswick.
Ish
That's a lot of times.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Flip
The lady jumped in and helped me, and I was panicking. She's like, yo, calm down. Cause I was pulling her down.
Ish
Oh, shit.
Flip
Never forget. And then I had to learn. I just learned how to swim each time.
Joe Budden
Were they able to get all of the infested water from out of your brain? Did they move mouth to mouth?
Flip
Yo, Joe, I'll F you up today. You're injured today.
Joe Budden
I'll whoop your ass. Did they vacuum some shit?
Flip
No, it was scary.
Joe Budden
But you put a catheter in your ear.
Flip
I learned how to swim by default. And then I'm down, though.
Mal
Let's do it. I know.
Flip
He's scared, too. He don't know. He don't want to swim. I told him. I said, joe, you should go try to learn how to swim. I have to as an adult. It's dope.
Parks
I have to. And I took. You took your daughter know how to swim?
Joe Budden
Yes.
Parks
How'd that happen? Damned if I know.
Joe Budden
Cause kids are like. Kids are like dogs.
Parks
No, I took my. I took my daughter to learn. I took my daughter to learn, but she was a little too small. I took her when she was like, six, eight months.
Mal
That's where you should start. The one I'm trying to do it.
Parks
My daughter on her back doing all this shit.
Mal
My daughter's a lifeguard.
Parks
I'm like, all right.
Mal
I taught my daughter. I took my daughter to swim lessons, like, from age 6. Months, till about 12. She took swim lessons. She's a lifeguard. She could do all that. I tried to do the lessons. It didn't work.
Flip
Do you panic when you get in the water? Do you panic?
Parks
He five, six, two, though. I'm five'ten they can only come in like right here.
Mal
Why? You know what?
Parks
Yo, you good? Yeah, I'm straight. I can step on your foot. That's cool.
Flip
You can't swim, right?
Joe Budden
You can.
Parks
Yeah, I can swim. I can't. I can't tread and I can't float like that.
Melissa
That's what I thought was. So how do you. How can you swim and not tread? I don't get that.
Parks
When I jump off the diving. I could jump off the 30 foot joint. Like in Maplewood, they got the high joint. 30 when you get in the water.
Flip
Yo, don't play that. Don't play family.
Parks
Stop.
G
All right.
Joe Budden
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's been about 45 minutes of we all. Yeah, yeah. At some point we do have to come to work, work and speak about things.
Mal
Can I say something about Angie Stone?
Joe Budden
Sure, go ahead.
Mal
Angie Stone, first of all, rest in peace. Angie Stone. She's one of those people who.
Joe Budden
Oh, wait, hold on. You better be serious. At least let the hook go.
Mal
Oh, sorry.
Joe Budden
All right, all right. That's all I needed. All right, all right. Back to the legend.
Mal
Yeah, legendary Angie Stone, Neo soul legend, all that. I didn't know her well, but I knew her well enough, you know, I knew her to speak. Interviewed a bunch of times. Real good people. One of the few people that when they die, everybody has good things to say and doesn't have to lie or doesn't have to remain silent. But the thing that I want to say about Angie Stone, I think is important is that a lot of people only think about her as a neo soul goddess and they forget that she is a hip hop pioneer. As much as, you know, no Rain in this Cloud and all the songs that came out, you know, when she made that album in 99, which is great, she's part of Sequence, you know, and sequence, you know, when hip hop is really moving, when we move from disco to hip hop and you start to hear hip hop as a party sound, she's the voice of that. She's the soundtrack. And the other two sisters are the voice of that. Sequence is a hip hop pioneering group. They were the second act sign of Sugar Hill Records. They were major hip hop act. And when we do the hip hop commemorations and the 50th anniversary. Sometimes we leave out Angie Stone and we leave out. Or Angie B at the time and we leave out sequence. I'm just saying, as we remember her, let's really write her in the history and not just in the R and B. That's it.
Flip
Got you.
Joe Budden
I agree. That was very well said.
Mal
I'm good at the talking job.
Parks
That's why you command the big bucks.
Mal
I command them.
Parks
Get them.
Joe Budden
They might sprinkle some silence out there for two seconds. You gonna let him do that?
Melissa
What.
Joe Budden
You gonna let Mark smoke your fucking boots on the end? That was your topic, girl. Nigga, Mark. Mark came on the lake.
Mal
He bought the sand on the train back.
Joe Budden
Yo, when I get to the Angie, I'm gonna take it to the lawsuit and how I survived my accident.
Melissa
And y'all put a stop to that because you did not want to saddle Mel.
Flip
Get it back, turn up Mel.
Melissa
You didn't wanna sad out the party. I don't think Mark was here when we had a discussion about, you know, the fact that when a loss like this happens, you could say that this was before her time. This was a tragic accident versus somebody that we're aware has, like a long running health issue and then they end up passing away. So the conversation I was trying to see if the guys wanted to talk about is the process of loss. When it's something like that. And then especially where she was going, she was on her way to do something to sing the national anthem. And then that was just really strange how the people at the game handled it. Was like announcing it, like, oh, well, yeah, like our halftime.
Joe Budden
I have a problem with that.
Melissa
I have a huge problem.
Joe Budden
I have a big problem with if an artist is about to perform somewhere, you're announcing to that audience, hey, y'all, the act just died.
Ish
Yes.
Parks
Wow.
Joe Budden
I think that that's absolutely nuts. I don't know that everybody knows that that's nuts. Maybe they didn't know a better way to handle that. But I think that was totally the wrong way to handle it. If I was a ticket goer, I would be. I would be distraught. I would be asking to see somebody.
Melissa
Yeah, I agree.
Mal
Oh, go ahead.
Parks
No, no, I heard the announcement. It was. It was. She was performing at halftime. The gentleman walked out, he let the crowd know, hey, can I get a moment? Can everybody stop? And everybody got quiet. And he was like, you know, we were supposed to have the legend Angie Stone before a couple people started clapping. And he said, unfortunately, she passed away in an accident. So everybody was Like.
Joe Budden
Like what?
Parks
Like you could hear.
Joe Budden
You don't get out there.
Melissa
No, I feel like it would suck the air right out of the room.
Parks
And then he asked for a moment of silence. Everybody gave the moment of silence. Then they. You know, they clapped and everything and went on. But I personally, I'm not mad at announcing, hey, listen, something just happened. And this is. Why.
Joe Budden
Don'T nobody have a problem with you announcing something just happened. Right.
Melissa
But not.
Joe Budden
You came out there and said, she passed away. She passed.
Flip
Yeah.
Joe Budden
We don't have no beef with something just happened. Oh, my God. An emergency. Unfortunate incident. It's not your place to get out there and tell these fans that the act has perished. Right. It's not your place.
Mal
It's also the age of social media.
Parks
I'm just getting ready to say read it on your phone.
Joe Budden
No, no.
Mal
What I'm saying is, if I'm in the stands and I tweet, oh, my God, they just said Angie Stone died. Now Angie's son or Angie's aunt or Angie's brother, who doesn't know they're dead yet, has to read that on Twitter.
Parks
Well, I don't know if. If this occurred, if that person got the information. Like, I don't know if they got it before social media. They could have got it from. They could have got it from there as a TMZ post go out.
Mal
Oh, that's fair. That's possible.
Parks
And then they announce to the crowd. That's fair, because the news is already out there. You don't want to put that on the authorities, the local authorities. Not gonna come to the CIAA tournament and be like, yo, I thought.
Joe Budden
What? Her.
Mal
I thought her team called. That's what I assumed. But either way, to the other point, because I think that's a great point. You're right. I pulled that one back. But the idea of, yo, you just sucked the air out of this room, everybody in this room is now devastated to hear it. They hear some people came there just to hear it. And Stone, I believe that.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Mal
That's crazy to find out that she's just dead.
Joe Budden
I don't think you do that. I just don't think you do that to people. I don't know what the proper protocol is. I'm not pretending to know. You should not put people in that spot.
Mal
Shit.
Joe Budden
When we was on the road, when we found out Nipsey died.
Parks
No. What's the dude. The white dude.
Mal
Mac Miller.
Flip
No, Paul Walker.
Parks
Y'all was on tour.
Joe Budden
Paul Walker. No, no.
Flip
Dj.
Parks
DJ Am. Yeah.
Joe Budden
DJ Am and DJ am.
Parks
And y'all was with his man Travis. Travis and him.
Joe Budden
Yeah. I mean, that's a little different. Cause that was. We just happened to be there for a personal call where we found something out. When Nipsey died, we was on our way to a stage.
Ish
Yeah.
Joe Budden
Oh, wow. And had to perform. And the news had just broke, and.
Ish
We were in Cali.
Joe Budden
The entire. We were in Cali. The entire building wasn't really there. Like, the whole place was elsewhere. There was an energy in the room that made it a difficult night for everybody. I think we said a prayer at the end or some shit. Like, it was tough. So I just don't think you put that feeling in people that came to a show for a show, let them find out, just say, hey, we've had an emergency. There's some unfortunate. Yeah, I agree with that. As a performer, I don't agree with it. Maybe as a consumer, you wanna know that. As a performer, I don't agree with that at all. Yeah.
Melissa
And also, like, with social media, a lot of times reports go out prematurely where the person might not have passed away. And we've seen that happen before where. Before the family has a chance to make their statement, people are just like, so and so died. And it's just like, no, they're still on life support, but it's not for us to have a discussion about. So I would be really afraid to be the one that announces this to a whole crowd of people before it has, you know, without making sure that the confirmation is really actually the confirmation. Like, I would err on the side of caution and say, we had a performer, there was an emergency, we apologize, and that's really. And leave it at that.
Parks
Yeah, we just. We don't know the timing of when they got that. The timing matters. Cause when it was officially out, they could have got it then. And then. I'm not mad at that, because nine times out of 10, most of y'all are gonna know anyway.
Mal
The last piece of this for me is also people who were tweeting just wild shit. Like, people were tweeting, like, the truck itself. They were tweeting the van that got flipped over.
Parks
Cause she was the only person to pass, too.
Mal
She was the only one that passed.
Parks
She was the only one that passed.
Mal
And they were showing these graphic images, and y'all out there like, people are human beings. Somebody loves them. And if you're famous or not, it doesn't matter. Like, nobody wants to go on Twitter and see the person they love dead on Their timeline or the van crushed on their timeline. Like have some decency. Post a still picture.
Joe Budden
Unfortunately, we're living in yesterday. Yesterday. I know you're living in yesterday.
Parks
And everybody, most a lot today are so desensitized to that.
Flip
Yeah.
Parks
Where they could look right at that image and scroll.
Joe Budden
As horrible as the image was, that was one of the nicer images as it relates to our entertainers passing.
Mal
That's true. That's sad.
Joe Budden
It was like the aftermath. I didn't see the actual accent.
Parks
There's a video going around right now.
Joe Budden
That's the actual accident.
Parks
No, not of that, of someone else. That I don't even want to talk about.
Joe Budden
Oh my God. No, no, no, no.
Parks
I've been trying to avoid it. I'm not even going on social media, bro.
Joe Budden
Right. That story in and of itself.
Parks
Exactly.
Joe Budden
And I'm not familiar with the young man, rest in peace, five year old daughter. He's a young rapper and his five year old daughter. This is in Texas. Dallas, Texas. I want to say that this is in Dallas. Like, oh, I can't. Yeah, I can't even.
Parks
We got his name.
Flip
G. G Dollar sign. Little Ronnie.
Parks
Little Ronnie, yeah, yeah.
Flip
And his five year old daughter. Fort Worth, Texas, you know, was ambushed at a car wash. Rest in peace.
Parks
Different out here, Danjie.
Joe Budden
Shit.
Ish
Reminds me of just how vulnerable entertainers and performers are that tour and travel and rely on that for their income.
Parks
Income.
Ish
You know what I mean? Like, people really put themselves in a dangerous position all day, every day to entertain us.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Ish
Like traveling, especially in cars is like the most dangerous in the world. And people do it for a living.
Joe Budden
Yeah. 18 wheeler, boy. Got it. Damn.
Parks
Rest in peace.
Ish
Rest in peace. For sure. For sure.
Joe Budden
The roads be scary though. Yeah. Like the roads are the. I don't think we had that age now.
Parks
Yeah, yeah. My. And it ain't how good you drive. Nah. Cause the other. That's the other part swerving in and out of the lanes. All it take is one somebody not paying attention.
Mal
Yeah.
Flip
They teach you that you gotta drive when you drive. You gotta drive for the other person.
Parks
Defensive driver. Yeah, Defensive driver.
Joe Budden
Yeah. That's why I be getting mad at my driver. He'll spot the worst driver on the road and just stay right by him.
Parks
Going 20 like, yo, could you get.
Joe Budden
Away from this lunatic? You don't see him. You could tell when somebody on the road just turned.
Parks
You see it right away.
Joe Budden
Yeah, yeah. They done fucking got the little fucking Puerto Rican Honda engine in there.
Parks
Loud as hell.
Joe Budden
20 miles per hour.
Parks
Yo, dog, you haven't left the block yet.
Joe Budden
Yeah. That merge wrong into the. Yeah. No, man, let me queue up out there. Let's get. I'm doing it.
Parks
Let's get us on out of there, bro.
Joe Budden
Police playing but I don't hear it. Got to turn it up. Oh, yeah. Oh, man. Rest in peace to anybody after he lost somebody recently. Our prayers, thoughts, and condolences to Angie Stone, her family, her friends, her loved ones. Girl, you looking sweet of God. Wish that I could love you by In a special way I never thought.
Parks
You like my mind.
Joe Budden
All right, all right, all right, all right.
Parks
Blow my mind.
Joe Budden
All right, where we going? Where we taking this thing? Oscars. Oh, the Oscars. The Oscars, Mel.
Melissa
Yes. Did anybody else watch?
Ish
I watched absolutely.
Joe Budden
No.
Ish
Well, I watched it on Hulu, and it died right before Best Picture.
Melissa
No, Best best Actress.
Ish
Midway through Best Actress, right before best Picture.
Parks
What do you mean it died?
Joe Budden
Like, who's over?
Ish
It's like, up. Your show's ended. It's like. No, it hasn't.
Melissa
Yeah. Oh, yeah, it was. It was. That was.
Parks
I watched a nice portion of it.
Melissa
Okay. All right. What'd you think? First thing I'll say is, it did not seem like a Jesse Collins production at all. So that was the number one thing that I thought Conan O'Brien did fabulous as a host. He's. He's hilarious.
Ish
Yeah, he was good.
Melissa
He's really, really good.
Ish
I will say that as much as I champion, like, watching the early parts of the Grammys, this was like that for the whole ceremony, which is a.
Mal
Lot of you don't care about.
Parks
Yeah.
Melissa
Like, yes.
Ish
Best foreign short animated movie. Like, congrats.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Ish
You could have. You could have put.
Joe Budden
Tweeted that they could make an earlier.
Ish
Ceremony for them, too, and get some of that stuff out of the way.
Melissa
Yeah.
Ish
Like, I think they're. The Grammys is maybe too far left of not showing enough, and Oscars is too far right of showing way too much.
Mal
I love all those. Maybe because I make film, but, like, I. I love watching, like, the documentary. I love watching the best far. And this. I like every one of them. I like the best Dolly grip. Like, all that shit.
Joe Budden
I want to.
Mal
I want every award shown. Every single one.
Flip
Yeah.
Parks
Even the pre show was long. Like family. They show you on six different stages on the carpet. So they were so bad that they had to have on the side three separate screens to show when you walk in. You over there on the carpet, you over there on the carpet, and then you come up on the main screen, it's like, yo, my. Yo, we get it.
Joe Budden
We got you. Yeah.
Parks
You know what I'm saying? Like, it's like, oh, she. She was over there.
Joe Budden
They.
Parks
On this screen. Then they. It's like, yo, dawg, we got it, fam. I'm cool.
Melissa
Yeah.
Parks
Anybody clean up?
Melissa
There's a film called Anora that really. It swept. And it was a very, very, very indie film that a lot of people have never watched before, had never even fucking heard of. And it won all the major categories, like Best Picture, Best Director. Best Director.
Parks
Oh, shit.
Melissa
I think it was a screenplay.
Ish
Editing they won.
Melissa
Editing that they won. Yeah. And no, sorry, it wasn't. It wasn't screenplay. It was Best Actress, which was huge because everybody favored Demi Moore to win for this movie called the Substance. Did you see it?
Joe Budden
No, not yet.
Melissa
Okay.
Joe Budden
The Substance and the Brutalists.
Melissa
Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna.
Joe Budden
Are on my list.
Ish
Yeah. Adrian Brody's.
Melissa
Let me tell you something.
Mal
Good.
Melissa
Good fucking luck. I will never watch the Brutalist. It's three and a half hours fucking long. It's like watching.
Joe Budden
We're healthier in that area.
Melissa
Oh, good for you. Okay, you tell me how it is. I have a feeling you're gonna fall asleep at least five times during this movie. Mark my words.
Parks
I didn't sat and watched Avengers Infinity War.
Mal
Yeah, Okay.
Parks
I watched Lord of the Rings. I watched all of them.
Melissa
That's captivating. Listen, y'all just watch it.
Joe Budden
It's about the architect, dude. Why is that not captivating?
Melissa
Okay, listen, tell us.
Mal
Well, we'll check it out.
Joe Budden
I'm going to watch it because I like. She like.
Flip
I don't want to know what it's about.
Parks
That's the hard part for me.
Joe Budden
It's about an immigrant architect who built a whole bunch of shit. And then the wealthy fucking people started treating them like shit and took all the shit and stole the shit.
Parks
That's your balance.
Joe Budden
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You'll watch the hell out of it. I expect it to be slow, drawn out, keeping room for the wrong guy stories. Oh, you shitting me.
Parks
Somebody built it up and then they.
Joe Budden
Came and stole it from.
Flip
Exactly.
Joe Budden
That's one of the movies where I'm waiting for my girl to leave so I can get into things that I like.
Flip
Oppenheimer was long and. No, I know.
Melissa
There's definitely movies that I can watch.
Joe Budden
Oppenheimer was great.
Melissa
That are really lengthy pictures. And I really liked Oppenheimer. Another really, really long movie that I completely love. Is There Will Be Blood, which was another one that kind of swept. The amazing movie. Jamie.
Joe Budden
You don't stick around when shit is long, though.
Melissa
No, There Will Be Blood was three and a half hours. Outstanding.
Joe Budden
You.
Melissa
I'm make. Y'all eat your words. Okay, back to the Oscars. Okay, Y'all should watch the Substance. It's a very, very wild movie.
Joe Budden
It looks great, too.
Melissa
It's really, really good.
Flip
I gotta watch it, man.
Ish
Basically, the ignore. That's interesting. It's about sex workers.
Melissa
It is. It's basically about this young girl. She's. She's a sex worker in Brighton beach, and she ends up meeting the son of an oligarch. And she. They end up getting married. And then the family comes down to meet her to try to get this annulled because I will. They will be damned if their son marries a prostitute.
Parks
So the father hit it before.
Melissa
No, he didn't. He was in Russia. But, you know, there's a hitman involved. There's all kinds of shit going on, so.
Parks
Oh, yeah, I just read the. Yeah, this shit sound all right?
Melissa
Yeah, yeah.
Parks
Good looks.
Melissa
Yeah. But the substance for me was really, really. I really love that movie because you would never think Demi Moore would actually do a movie like this. And basically what it is, it's like this. This aging starlet, she decides that, you know, she. She gets introduced to this concept of kind of splitting yourself in half. And you're like, there's a younger version of you, but you guys have to share time.
Ish
I thought it was about Ozempic.
Melissa
It was not about Ozempic.
Parks
It was about us hooping.
Melissa
Pretty much. Pretty much. But anyway, so the young ingenue who was the lead in Nora, she actually took the award for Best actress. A lot of people thought Demi had it locked, so that was kind of surprising. Also, what was kind of disappointing was the tribute to Quincy Jones. Like, it was weird. That's why I say this was not a Jesse Collins production. Because the tribute to Quincy Jones would have been so much better. And they had Oprah and Whoopi Goldberg come out and talk about it. Queen Latifah and then Queen Latifah saying, you know the song from the Wiz down the road. Down the road. I was like, out of all Quincy Jones productions, that's the song you choose.
Parks
I thought it's tied in with a movie.
Melissa
It tied in with Wicked. Sure, I get it.
Joe Budden
And it's still Oscars, girl.
Parks
That part who they was gonna have.
Melissa
So listen, you could tell when Jesse Collins produced the Oscars. It looked and felt like it. You know what I'm saying? And I say, and that is a huge compliment. This was very. I don't want to say watered down, but it just was very.
Parks
It's a different W word.
Ish
White.
Joe Budden
It was white. When can we get to the kiss? Okay, so let's get to the kiss.
Melissa
Okay, so the fuckery. So Adrien Brody ends up winning for best actor for the brutalist. Fast forward 20 something years. Rewind, sorry. Rewind, sorry. Reword. 20 years ago, when he won best actor for the Pianist and Halle Berry was on the stage and she was the one who was, you know, presenting him with the award, he got up on the stage and literally swooped her up in this huge unplanned kiss that she was not prepared for. And she played it off really well. So fast forward 20 something years. He's won. And she decides to recreate the moment.
Mal
And turns to his wife.
Parks
Walked up to his wife and was.
Mal
Like, yo, you know, I gotta do this.
Parks
Did he. Pardon me real quick. I'm gonna just pay him back.
Melissa
And check this out. He did that in front of her husband. So there's that.
Ish
Oh, well, she seems to be different.
Mal
It's a little different. But here's the difference. Here's the difference.
Melissa
Please tell me how it's different.
Mal
Her husband was like, where you are?
Parks
I was about to say her husband wasn't right there.
Mal
Right. I'm sorry. The wife was right there, but she turned to him and said, you know, I gotta do this, right? And didn't really wait for it. Yes.
Melissa
Okay, well, so he didn't ask for permission and she did. So there is. That's. That is a difference.
Mal
I'm not saying one is better or worse. I'm just saying they're different and. Cause I think it's a little like I couldn't walk up this like on stage, you could get caught up in the moment, but grabbing somebody and I don't.
Parks
On a carpet.
Mal
On a carpet. Pre planned in front of their spouse, to me is. Is a tougher sell. I wouldn't do either. I think you should kiss people with consent.
Parks
She would have got slick.
Mal
That's all I was thinking was like.
Parks
I don't know what y'all talking about. My girl was watching. She was like, that would have been her ass. We that whole carpet up.
Ish
What would you say Brody's pimp hand was a little stronger?
Melissa
I think how Georgina Chapman handled it.
Ish
She came up and took the gum from him.
Joe Budden
That is not what he just Asked you. He didn't ask you nothing about Georgina Hatchman.
Melissa
That was his woman.
Joe Budden
He didn't.
Mal
I'm saying that if you're on the carpet with your dude, who happens to be an actor, hypothetically, old girl walks over, grips him up and gives him a kiss. Turns, you say, you know, I'm do this Right. Gives him a kiss. How do you react?
Melissa
She would have got slid.
Mal
Thank you.
Joe Budden
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Melissa
Yeah, she would have got slipped.
Ish
Yeah, but y'all didn't see the interaction. She went up to stage to take his gum in her bare hand. Like, she's a. She's with it. She's with the. Adrian, is he got that?
Joe Budden
No, but.
Melissa
No, no, let's. Let's. Let's actually say it in a different way. He threw his gum at her.
Joe Budden
That's true.
Melissa
He could have swallowed it. He really could have done bad. He could have done a lot of different things. And then he got up there and he gave, like, a six minute, you know, acceptance speech, told them to shut the up when they started to play the music. And then. Oh, I mean, I really like Adrien Brody as an actor, but that was.
Ish
He's the man. I think all this is man sounds like he's a man.
Parks
Don't. And I want it back when I come off. Don't throw it away. Don't throw it away.
Joe Budden
Does Holly have a book coming out or something?
Melissa
No.
Mal
I was wondering the same thing.
Joe Budden
Oh, Lou. Mama.
Parks
I don't want it to the mirrors looked amazing.
Ish
She looked phenomenal.
Melissa
She looked phenomenal.
Flip
Beautiful.
Joe Budden
I mean, that been my whole life. That ain't. That ain't no. Yeah. Like, she should sit down now.
Melissa
She's on a press run for the loop.
Joe Budden
Sit down for the lube.
Melissa
She has. She has a company called Respin.
Flip
Okay.
Melissa
And it's about. It's basically about health and wellness, but now she's added a component to it for women's sexual health and wellness.
Joe Budden
We skipping this. When These chicks turn 50, 51, 52. Something clicks. Something click. And. And they don't know that we could see it.
Melissa
What do you mean? What's the click?
Parks
I follow him. Yeah, I follow them.
Joe Budden
Go ahead.
Melissa
Use your words.
Parks
I'm letting him do it.
Joe Budden
Yeah, that. That get to purring differently. And because you.
Flip
That shit like a wolf. It's like a wounded cat.
Joe Budden
And because you aged and experienced and you've lived so you know people and you just have a different view than you did in your 30s and 40s. I don't wanna. It's not. What's the word I'm looking for?
Melissa
I'll sum it up.
Joe Budden
There's a word that I'm looking for that I guess.
Melissa
You give less fucks.
Parks
That ain't what you say.
Melissa
You ran out of fucks to give.
Parks
That ain't what he say.
Melissa
Well, that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. You give less fuck.
Flip
A way to. There's a way to act way. There's a way.
Parks
A lot more.
Flip
That's a pro right there.
Melissa
Y'all are up.
Flip
I think a person should act a certain way at a certain age.
Joe Budden
No, it's true. Yo. And it's a Hollywood click of them.
Flip
Yeah, it is.
Joe Budden
And I'm not. I'm no longer talking about Holly. I don't know personally to be able to speak about her. But she has that baby powder on her.
Parks
I agree.
Joe Budden
Like, there's a few people that went to Sephora and picked that up. The I'ma do some fucking and a lot of it eyeliner. I don't care who it is. I don't care if that. I don't care if that guy is married. I don't care if that guy is in a long term relationship.
Melissa
She ain't give a shit that she's.
Joe Budden
I'm beautiful. And because I'm beautiful, I can do what I want. They at my beck and call. And I'm on it.
Ish
This still sounds like salute to Adrien Brody.
Joe Budden
To me it is. You know, listen, he's the fly.
Parks
He's the man, okay?
Melissa
But I'm interested to know who's in this clique that you described.
Joe Budden
I would never. Man, I was about to say please.
Parks
If you take that rat poison. That ain't.
Joe Budden
I would never.
Parks
I wouldn't even let you.
Joe Budden
Yeah, come on. What's wrong with her?
Parks
I can name a good seven, though.
Melissa
Just tell me off camera. It's fine.
Joe Budden
Think more of us.
Ish
Did you guys take anything for any of the performances? Doja. Cat killed Doja. Yeah, she smoked that shit.
Parks
She got it all.
Ish
That chick Ray is phenomenal. But I went and listened to her albums. They are using her way wrong. Her voice is incredible. And then her albums are like some, like dance pop.
Parks
Yeah.
Melissa
It's almost like. You know what? It's like a star is born with Lady Gaga. Like how she. Like, she comes out singing, like with these kind of, you know, shallow and shit like that. And then when they get their hand. The industry gets their hands on her. They turn into her. Into An R B artist. Yeah, with all the weird wigs.
Parks
Christina Aguilera, B.
Melissa
No, it's pink.
Parks
Early stages.
Melissa
No, no, what it is, it's pink. Pink started as R B and then that shit.
Mal
I remember them days.
Melissa
Whack as fuck. And then she comes out being who she really actually is, and that's why she's been a huge success, because she's authentic.
Joe Budden
Now, did we find out why Ariana Grande is Benjamin Button? Like, why she's like, infant sizing.
Ish
I don't know.
Joe Budden
Like, why does she look six now?
Parks
I want to say nothing because they said she might have.
Joe Budden
It might be some health issues.
Ish
Her and Cynthia bodied that intro they did. I like their camaraderie, too.
Parks
Yeah, you could tell. Like, it was genuine.
Ish
Yeah.
Parks
Like, Ariana Grande kissed her hand and was holding, like, you know, I mean, it wasn't some studio, but I guess you've been working on a major motion picture with somebody, you might have built that up. It didn't show on that.
Melissa
No, no, no, no. I'm saying you're absolutely right in what you. What you're saying. They really do seem to like each other. You can be on a picture with somebody and hate them.
Parks
And I like the way that Ariana.
Melissa
Kind of pays reverence.
Parks
Do your thing.
Ish
Yeah, like, for sure.
Parks
I'm her. Do your thing. And really gave her the show.
Melissa
Revo is her.
Parks
No, she is, but in. In that white.
Melissa
It's super.
Mal
Her on the wrong syllable.
Melissa
Right, right.
Joe Budden
Sorry. You're Switzerland. Came out.
Melissa
You said syllable. I hate your.
Mal
You put the infants on the wrong syllable. Yeah.
Parks
The hell is a syllabus syllable. But you put the emphasis on the wrong.
Joe Budden
Got it.
Mal
Okay, okay. Got it.
Joe Budden
Takes a sting out when you gotta explain it. Joe. You missed it.
Parks
I missed it.
Joe Budden
Hey, catch it later. Zoe Saldana won They on her ass.
Flip
Badly.
Joe Budden
They on her ass is all I know.
Mal
Yeah, yeah.
Flip
They said that she.
Joe Budden
Cause she ain't black and she not.
Mal
Mexican, and she's not Mexican. One was the race thing, and then two. Some people was clowning because her husband was up there. You know, he took her last name. So some people was finding. Making jokes about that on. On.
Joe Budden
But wait, see, I didn't. I didn't know that. Now, that team missed me. I only know her husband took her last name. Her last name?
Mal
Yeah.
Ish
And she got a lot.
Mal
She got a lot of money, Marco. I only noticed is my wife sent it to me.
Joe Budden
The balls on this lady.
Parks
Oh, my wife sent me it to you?
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Mal
And I was like, I Wrote back. I don't know why you sending me this Real. His name was Marco Perego. Now he's Marco Saldana.
Flip
Marco, pero. Okay, so she.
Joe Budden
Oh, so they both kind of prairie names.
Mal
Yeah.
Flip
You know, he had a.
Joe Budden
He didn't sound. No tougher.
Flip
He had to take the last name. You know what I'm saying? When you trying to come up here. He had to take the last name. He had to take the last name.
Joe Budden
He take that.
Flip
Yeah, yeah. The green car goes faster.
Ish
I know a lot of.
Mal
I don't know. Green cards go faster with Saldana.
Ish
A lot of money plus Snapper.
Flip
Exactly.
Parks
Might take it.
Joe Budden
Might take it.
Flip
Take her last name.
Mal
I ain't taking it.
Joe Budden
So why they mad at this lady?
Flip
They said she's not black. It's number one. They said that she played a black role, and she's been downplaying to them. She's been downplaying the roles that she played, and they feel like she, you know. Cause she said she was not apologizing about. To the Mexicans and certain things. They just like, we don't like that.
Melissa
What's the apology?
Ish
That sounds like a headache.
Melissa
I'm curious. Cause a lot of times you'll have somebody. I mean, fucking Angelina Jolie played Cleopatra Charlton.
Parks
Has it been 17? Black Moses.
Flip
Thank you. I thought Moses was white until the.
Melissa
Madonna is a chicken nugget.
Mal
Wait till you hear about Jesus, man.
Flip
Because I go back. I don't have headphones on. I go back and listen to a lot of you say, I'm listening, clearly. No, it's based off of the religion that you, you know, woolen hair. Understood. Like brass. I got that.
Mal
That's not whitey.
Flip
I got that as an adult when I got older or as a teenager.
Parks
Okay.
Joe Budden
Nah, they remixed the shit out of him. Yeah, they did.
Parks
Like, Jennifer Lopez played Selena. They was kind of tight, too.
Melissa
All right. Exactly.
Parks
I just think.
Flip
Well, she did a great. She did a great job, and she paid homage to Selena.
Joe Budden
Filled in, nigga.
Melissa
But if you're gonna be mad about something, then stay mad about the same fucking thing. Jennifer Lopez is Puerto Rican. She played. She played Mexican. So what's the issue with this?
Flip
She paid homage to them. She paid homage to Selena.
Parks
Who's saying that the other lady didn't pay homage? She's saying, I'm not gonna be apologetic for winning a role and doing a role. I did my job. Yeah. What the fuck you talking about?
Mal
The beef to me ain't. Shouldn't be with Zoe, and obviously she's A proud Dominican. People say she doubled down on the Dominican part on the speech too. Like, I'm the first Dominican to win this award and hopefully there'll be others. And it's like. Like, you're also black, right? There's.
Melissa
But was that the time to make the distinction? The whole history of Afro Latina and the black experience you have. You have three minutes. It's not that you have three. Hold on one second here. You have one. You have three minutes to thank everybody in your life, people who have, you know, contributed to you getting this role. People who have contributed to your. Your fucking career for the last 30 something years. You have. And then you have to say something profound and shit like that, that relates to your family and your culture. You have three minutes to like, three minutes.
Mal
A long time. Do you know that was like 30 seconds what you just said.
Parks
Afro Latina takes three seconds.
Flip
Do you know the ongoing issues between Dominican and black people?
Melissa
Yes, I am.
Flip
Even Afro Latinas and black people, how they say I'm Dominican and they sort of exclude the black.
Melissa
This has been going on for generations. I've had a girlfriend of mine describe herself as a white Dominican. I said, what the is that?
Parks
Exactly.
Melissa
So, like, I. That was the first time I'd ever heard.
Flip
And a lot of us are aware of it. A lot of us are aware of it.
Melissa
When I tell you who the it was, we'll be friends with the white Dominican.
Joe Budden
I would never speak to him again.
Mal
Yeah, I would never speak to him.
Joe Budden
A white Dominican around me.
Mal
Is she legitimately white?
Parks
No, her.
Melissa
Her complexion is extremely light. Light, but she has very dark features. She had dark hair, dark eyebrows, dark eyes.
Joe Budden
She listen to Pac?
Melissa
Yes.
Mal
She live in Dykeman?
Melissa
No.
Mal
Just try to get.
Melissa
She's a name Fordham. Oh, she's a name like, so, like, maybe I should not use the word. The term friend. I'll use colleague because we work together.
Joe Budden
Cause every time you say the friend word.
Melissa
Yeah. It's like, my man's. Right. Okay.
Flip
No.
Melissa
So anyways.
Mal
She letting it chop us, right?
Melissa
Call back, call back, call back, call back, call back.
Joe Budden
Big man in a walking boot.
Mal
Two legs.
Melissa
Trust me, I. I understand the struggle, but it's just like, how do you really kind of like, describe what that. And look at who she's talking to.
Flip
Yeah.
Joe Budden
We grew up in the same.
Flip
A lot of times we grew up in the same neighborhood. When you grew up in the same neighborhood. When you grow up in the same neighborhood, experience the same struggles. You know, you see this person every day. You see These people every day. And they said, yo, they don't identify with you. I'm not black. I think it's confusing.
Ish
If you don't mind me interjecting. You can when you do nationality versus ethnicity, because you might go up there and say, y'all from Queens. Would it be wrong for people to say, but what about Haitian, Haiti or Jamaica?
Flip
And they will have a right to say that. And here's because my history.
Joe Budden
Did him not say he from Haiti when he get up?
Flip
Because I got. I got. People take that personally. I got attack a lot, but I know my Haitian side a lot. Like, that's how people take it. Yo, you always represent Jamaica. You going to Jamaica. What about Haiti? Your mother's Haitian. So people feel it's very sensitive.
Parks
It was different when you was young.
Joe Budden
Too, man, let the lady get up there and fucking say what you mean.
Flip
It was different when you was young.
Mal
Just say black. All I want to do is say black.
Melissa
Here, here's a good example. Here's a good example.
Joe Budden
Of course you're gonna be in a Telemundo 9:00am News. Hola.
Flip
Hello, Telemundo.
Joe Budden
You want to rep that Dominican? We can change the course, all this. I thought she was black for years.
Melissa
Also. She's representing like a Spanish speaking film. You know what I'm saying?
Mal
Her thing like.
Melissa
And also.
Joe Budden
So black people shouldn't have.
Melissa
No, it's not. It has nothing to do with that. What it has to do with. Can you imagine if she just said black? Can you imagine how the Dominican community.
Mal
Well, we didn't say just say Afro Latina.
Joe Budden
We didn't say just say that either. That would be wrong.
Mal
Just say Afro Latina. And I'm not getting all heavy on her, per se, but I understand why people feel away, especially when these same people sometimes get black roles and they trade on blackness when it's convenient.
Melissa
Oh, like Nina Simone.
Parks
No, like Zoe Saldana.
Melissa
No, she plays Nina Simone.
Mal
She played Nina Simone.
Parks
She played the. With Ashton Kutcher when Bernie. When Bernie Mack was her dad. She was a black girl.
Mal
Yeah, but she also played Nina Simone. That's what she's saying.
Joe Budden
Is this the girl that's in Lioness?
Parks
Yes, yes.
Joe Budden
Come on. You know.
Parks
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
Joe Budden
I know goddamn well the lion say Dominican.
Parks
What are her parents? Her mother's Puerto Rican and Dominican. Her father is dominican, so she's 75% Dominican.
Joe Budden
The lioness ain't Dominican, though.
Parks
So. So she's Dominican in Puerto Rican, right?
Flip
Yes.
Parks
So why do Y'all want her to run up there and yell she's black again because you. I'm just kidding.
Mal
Because those are ethnicities.
Parks
Dominicans are black.
Mal
And those. They're not racist.
Parks
But she's pointing. I get it. I'm not. I'm not. I don't see nothing wrong with this. I don't think she's wrong. I think the people criticizing her are wrong.
Melissa
I don't.
Joe Budden
Same, same.
Flip
I think that's based off experience that you. That's based off experience, man. Like, it's deeper than that. I'm not just screaming deeper than that just to say you're wrong for representing your ethnicity. Yeah, no, it's deeper than that. But go ahead, Mark. It's just.
Mal
All I'm saying is I don't. People can make choices about how they identify, and I'm not begging nobody to be black if they don't want to identify as black.
Flip
I agree.
Mal
However, if you're getting jobs, for example, no white woman would get a job playing Nina Simone, but they would say Hollywood does. No white woman in 2025.
Flip
Abu Dhabi JR.
Melissa
I heard a rumor. Check this shit out.
Mal
My point is, they let her get certain jobs. They let certain Latinos get certain jobs because at that moment, they identify as black. Right. And then if you identify as black to get that job, and then later on down the road, Sally, you throw the black away. I see why people feel frustrated. That's all I'm saying. If you don't be black, don't be black. But then don't be needing someone.
Melissa
She got a lot of. For being Nina Simone, though. She got a lot of.
Mal
Yeah.
Parks
She actually apologize for it?
Melissa
Yeah.
Mal
And I don't think she should have to.
Parks
I don't either.
Melissa
And since then.
Mal
And that's all that is.
Parks
If them gave me and you $10 million to play Menudo, I'm going to get up that. And I'm about that out of here.
Joe Budden
What? In theory, that sounds good, but. No, you wouldn't.
Mal
No, you wouldn't.
Melissa
Oh, I believe him. He absolutely would. I think he would.
Mal
What?
Parks
Yo. She's. She's an actress. My. She's an actress. So a lot of times actresses push themselves to do different roles and to embody certain.
Mal
So you don't have a white man playing. Being Malcolm X in the film?
Parks
No, I don't want to see that. But again, he's an actor. What I'm saying is we've embraced that. Mad Times. What's Batman? The latest Batman.
Joe Budden
Punk Dark Knight. A fucking.
Parks
We're not doing that.
Melissa
Robert Pat. Robert Pattinson.
Joe Budden
Bell.
Parks
Christian Bell. He played Moses like dog. We've had 15 white Moses and don't nobody. Angelina Jolie might be the whitest chick in America. She played Cleopatra.
Mal
That ain't the same.
Parks
Why is it not?
Mal
Because. Because a lot of America still thinks Moses is white and Cleopatra is white. That's different than playing somebody as a black person.
Parks
And a lot of Americans think Dominican is Dominican, and they do not associate them with black.
Mal
And that's why I gave the Malcolm X example. When you know somebody's black, we would say no. So as we start to identify people by their races, I'm just saying, do we draw lines? But I had a whole other question about something different. Did coning go too far with the Kendrick joke? The Kendrick Drake, that was ho. Cause I thought it was hilarious. But some people felt away.
Parks
A lot of people, they felt away.
Mal
How'd you feel? Actually, let me ask you, because I know as a. I think that.
Joe Budden
As a what.
Parks
As a what?
Flip
As a Drake fan.
Mal
As a person's opinion, I'd like to know about.
Parks
No, I think that. I think that that's where we are, and I think that that's a part of what Oldboy is talking about. Like, yo, this shit is in the mainstream America. It's the Oscars, and they ridiculing the stupid motherfucker being a pedophile.
Mal
And for those that don't know, the joke was that Kendrick said. I mean, that Conan said, we're halfway through.
Parks
We're halfway through the Oscars. It's about that time when we refer.
Mal
To the Oscar for Kendrick Lamarck to come out and call Drake a pedophile. Right. Which I thought was a hilarious joke. Just as a joke, I thought it was hilarious.
Melissa
Yeah, I'm lawyered up.
Mal
Yeah, I'm lawyered up. Right?
Joe Budden
I laughed for a long time when he said it.
Mal
Me too.
Joe Budden
But I. I also think that Conan O'Brien is borderline, like, acceptable. No, he's like one of them. He's. He's really good. Really? Really? Like I said, acceptable. Really good.
Mal
Yeah.
Joe Budden
Oh, all right. Exceptional. Like, I view him like that. And part of that for me was even that joke, right? Like, before he says, I'm lawyered up, you don't really know how to take that.
Parks
Right.
Joe Budden
Like, it's open to a million different interpretations, which is why I thought it was great. And we saying Conan O'Brien, but the black dude that wrote the joke has been on Twitter ever since.
Mal
Right?
Joe Budden
Defending himself. Cause People have been on his ass. Hey, why did you write that joke about Drake? But he said, hey, I wrote jokes the other way when it comes to predators. I got the tweet. I can find it, but who cares?
Parks
It don't matter.
Mal
And honestly, that joke, to me, is as much about a criticism of Kendrick as it is diss a Drake. It's like, Kendrick is. It's a criticism that Kendrick keeps doing. It's like, damn, they get another one. So I didn't see. I saw it as a balanced, funny, brilliant joke.
Parks
I just thought it was a funny joke.
Ish
Me too.
Parks
I didn't.
Joe Budden
From Drake's point of view, I'm a little sick of hearing my name attached.
Mal
To the word pedophile, which I get.
Parks
I get it. I get it. But this is what happens when something that happens in hip hop grows to be that big. All the brands, everybody take it a little further, right?
Mal
They took it further.
Parks
They took it further. And that's.
Flip
He didn't want to do that.
Joe Budden
Freeze. Hey, tell him what he said. Freeze. I just said it. What he said, you missed it. I said it. Why is that so funny?
Mal
It'll never not be funny.
Joe Budden
He took it first further for N.
Parks
N, N. He's following through. But that. That's homeboy's point.
Joe Budden
That's his point.
Parks
Like, yo, my name is being associated with a pedophile in front of the Oscars, dog.
Flip
Yeah, yeah, enough.
Parks
All the biggest advertisers in the world.
Ish
But had it went the other way, he would have been calling Kendrick a wife beater. So, I mean, here we go.
Joe Budden
Oh, man. Is it Stacy? Hey, Nokia is fighting for his life out there against this pedophile. Hey, crazy. Have a little slap in the talk.
Flip
That shit moving out there.
Mal
Take it back.
Parks
I like that shit.
Flip
That shit moving out there.
Joe Budden
I still like that record. All the pansies, but it's working for him.
Flip
Nah, it's moving, nigga.
Joe Budden
It's working for him.
Flip
I ain't no hater. Remember what you said before.
Joe Budden
I ain't no hater.
Flip
Clean it up. What I said before, I don't think you liked it.
Joe Budden
I don't like it now, but it's.
Flip
Moving and it's growing you. Look what you just did.
Mal
Is it Keisha?
Joe Budden
No, I don't fuck with that song. My joints off that album are deeper. Give me a hug. The Houston shit. Crying in Houston, Raining in Houston, whatever. And something for whatever. But you can identify those four songs, special records.
Flip
You can identify when something is doing well. Like, yo, I can see why? It's doing well.
Joe Budden
I see why it's moving, but UMG ain't paying for it, so. I mean, that's coming out of somebody else pocket. It ain't gonna be around long. You gotta pay for songs to stick around. No matter how many of y'all like it. You have to pay for songs to be around.
Parks
Okay, but.
Joe Budden
Hey, I like the song. I don't give a fuck.
Flip
So a lotto did in the car, she dancing to it.
Joe Budden
No, I didn't see what Latto did in the car, nigga, and I did see it, but don't say that to me on here, nigga. Let me see what Lotto did in the car.
Parks
Not like that. Not like that.
Flip
I'm just saying, like, she representing, man. Come on.
Joe Budden
Listen, they doing what they doing.
Parks
They doing what they're doing.
Joe Budden
And I'm not mad. I'm not mad. Hey, everybody that's rocking with some shit, rock with it. I ain't the guy that's trying to convince you that a song you like, ain't it. That's subjective. Like what you like. I like what I like. That's not what I'm going to on the project. But, hey, what he needed right now.
Ish
Salute.
Parks
That's not what you try to do.
Joe Budden
What? Hell, no. No. My taste is too weird for me to try to get other people liking what I like and don't like what I. No, that's not the beauty of music. Why? Why's that? You trying to shoot? Nah, go ahead.
Parks
Me.
Joe Budden
Ah, fuck it.
Parks
That's how I my leg up.
Joe Budden
Shooting shot. Yeah. About to say bad time. Bad time, nigga. I'll do what Imani did to me. I come just stomp on that little walking boot you got.
Parks
I don't want no smoke, bro.
Joe Budden
You know why you corny? You tried to swag out the walking boot with the Sergio. You are a corny old school.
Parks
Why? Just cause.
Joe Budden
Look, stop, stop, stop.
Parks
Look, that's what I did.
Joe Budden
Look, look. You needed something that was gonna fit on top of the walking boot the right way. Look what you did.
Parks
What's the right way, nigga?
Joe Budden
You know the right way. Stop. You look good, man. You look like this guy's nuts.
Parks
He got it.
Joe Budden
You look like in 89.
Flip
Yeah, the gray with the gray.
Joe Budden
You look like an 89, my nigga.
Parks
You stupid, son. Something's wrong with your brain, y'all.
Joe Budden
When you made your first million at 29, how fast did you lose it?
Parks
Very fast.
Mal
Come on. Get off me.
Flip
You have to watch two niggas oh, I'm pimp.
Melissa
Shit.
Parks
Pimp, man. Very fast.
Joe Budden
What's very fast? How many years?
Parks
Three, Four.
Mal
Well, that ain't very fast.
Joe Budden
Dang.
Parks
It was fastest because the markets fell.
Mal
So you didn't spend it?
Joe Budden
It just.
Mal
It's just the way I spend it. Oh, okay. Okay.
Parks
Chart house every day.
Joe Budden
St. Mark's and that's back when the Char House was impressing. And that's back when the Chart House.
Mal
Charles.
Parks
Every day.
Joe Budden
What? Your number might be in the fours. I ain't gonna lie. Your number. I meant my bad. Fives.
Parks
No, not fives.
Joe Budden
Not fives.
Parks
Fives, dog.
Joe Budden
Wilt did it.
Parks
Wilt was the man.
Joe Budden
So were you the man.
Mal
Oh, my brain was.
Joe Budden
So you was the man, not the five.
Parks
Never five digits.
Joe Budden
Don't listen to him, dawg.
Mal
Wait. Five digits or five hundreds?
Joe Budden
Five digits.
Mal
Oh.
Joe Budden
Oh. Are you crazy? Five hundred.
Mal
That's what I was like. I was gonna say that to you. Are you crazy?
Joe Budden
Somewhere in the thousands. I don't know where, but I think it might be closer to the five than it is the three digits. That's my own belief. I'm not forcing nobody else to think nothing. That's my own shit.
Parks
Joe, do you know what 5,000 is?
Joe Budden
Yes. Antoine?
Parks
10,000.
Joe Budden
Yes.
Flip
That's a lot.
Mal
That's a lot.
Parks
I'm 49 years old. Been a long time, King. Yo, what's wrong?
Flip
She wasn't doing that every day. Like, chill.
Mal
Yeah.
Flip
Seven times a week.
Ish
Put your dick in a walking booth.
Flip
You got to put apple cider on that apple cider vinegar.
Joe Budden
Know what's funny about this? All right, I'm wrong. 3,000.
Flip
You dispute that number?
Mal
You want the calculator?
Parks
Yeah. At 3,000, you got to pop six women a day for your whole life.
Joe Budden
Is that true? That don't sound true to me.
Parks
I just did the math.
Mal
Wait. Ish. 1800 would be. If you did six a day for.
Parks
One year, it'd be 180049 years times 365 days is 17,885 days. Divided by 3000 is. 5.96 women a day.
Mal
Nah, I think you don't.
Joe Budden
Yeah. Something is wrong with your man.
Mal
That's not right.
Joe Budden
Something is wrong with.
Mal
It's the opposite. You should have divided where you multiple. No, let's try.
Joe Budden
Okay. Dang.
Flip
That nigga's doing is crazy again.
Mal
If you did six a day in one year, you do, you would have done 1800 already.
Parks
365 days.
Joe Budden
You're right.
Parks
You're right.
Flip
Damn. Is let's go, mom.
Joe Budden
That's how much he been.
Mal
Look, look.
Parks
Yeah, my.
Joe Budden
All right, so 5,000.
Mal
He's like, wait, I did 5,000 with. It turns out.
Joe Budden
All right, it's time for my favorite part of the show, Prize Picks. All right, Prize Picks is the best place to get real money sports action. Parks
All right, we got a couple games. The Heat and the Cavaliers.
Joe Budden
The Heat. Shout to the Knicks 19 point comeback the other night in Miami, which is fucking South Madison Square. I'll take hero in that for more than 18.
Parks
All right, we got the Mavs and the Bucs.
Joe Budden
Mavs. Bucks. Shout out to Kyrie. Prayers. My prayers are with you. Kyrie. Man, that was devastating. That's my man. One of my favorite people in the world. Shout out to Kyrie. Yeah, just a good man. Good person, good human.
Mal
Great brother.
Joe Budden
Give me Dame Lillard in that for more than 21.
Parks
All right, we have the Thunder and the grizzlies.
Joe Budden
Oh, thunder. SGA. Oh, thunder. Give me. Give me SGA. Give me SGA for more than 26.
Parks
All right, and the Kings and the Nuggets.
Joe Budden
Give me the Joker. Give me the Joker for more than nine boards.
Parks
There we go.
Joe Budden
All right. Simple as that. Don't forget to download the app right this second and use promo code JBP to get. Get $50 instantly when you play your first $5 lineup. I repeat, if you download the app right this second and use promo code JBP, you get $50 instantly after your first $5 lineup. So good luck to all participants out there and run your game. All right, before we go any further, I want to shout out to my Ramadan n out there.
Flip
Shout out.
Joe Budden
I want to shout out to y'all for being strong, being disciplined, getting in that bag. My barber came over the other day, almost fainted. Cutting my hair at the end of the cut was like, yo, is this just like a store? I can get some snacks, anything to fill me up on the ride home. I was like, God damn you going through it this Ramadan.
Flip
Why you didn't offer him snacks?
Parks
Why didn't offer the nigga no snacks?
Joe Budden
Why you didn't offer him snacks? Why y'all assume I have snacks?
Flip
Snacks you got how much season?
Parks
Yo, you really did have a bad month. Yeah, I let you hold something up.
Flip
Hold on. You know what it is?
Joe Budden
Would you let me hold something?
Parks
Some water now some snacks.
Joe Budden
I had to bear my. Wait, hold up. Hold up real quick. Would you let me hold some. What? It's different from when your little Elizabeth friends want to hold something.
Flip
No.
Mal
And you.
Flip
And you was on my channel.
Joe Budden
I know it's different when I want to hold something. It ain't going to be the same as your little West Orange friends.
Parks
I know. Because they might not give it back.
Mal
You got.
Joe Budden
When I come. I need pause. I need a few.
Flip
I agree with you niggas on my case about the 350. Nigga. Like, he. I started to think my man's struggling a little bit, but then I had to think that it's all part of his plan to distract us.
Parks
Is that what it is?
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Flip
Cause, you know, we've been coming at him for the past couple of weeks on here about, you know, him showing out and him not being generous, which he is. So then now he wants to double down, like, all right, what's up with that?
Melissa
On the flip side, you can call it. You had a good month, huh?
Flip
I did have a good month, yes.
Joe Budden
How much you made last month?
Flip
I'm 46.
Melissa
Nice.
Joe Budden
Nice.
Flip
From the room alone, not including what you give me.
Joe Budden
Hold up. Let us praise you. Take a compliment he gives you.
Flip
So 66. Well, the money. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Parks
70.
Flip
No, I'm just saying, like, I made 40. Oh, just. I made 46. Just working hard.
Mal
What's your primary source?
Flip
My primary source? I can't answer that.
Joe Budden
Why you don't ask him like you asked him the first time?
Parks
What?
Mal
I asked him how you made that.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Flip
Just working hard, filming how you made.
Joe Budden
That come off a little different than. What's your primary source?
Mal
I was trying to be more respectful.
Flip
Yeah.
Parks
I mean.
Flip
I mean, just working hard, filming and trying to figure it out. You know, I put double work in. Cause my plan was to take the whole month off. That's my plan.
Melissa
To go to Trinidad.
Flip
Yeah, To Trinidad. And just handle some business. Because it's me and him going back and forth, playing around, but, you know, was looking too. Looking too sweet.
Joe Budden
Looking good out there. My boy, my boy.
Flip
I fixed the whole studio.
Joe Budden
46.
Mal
That's a good month.
Joe Budden
We made 46.
Parks
It's a great month.
Joe Budden
Damn.
Flip
Stop it. It's hard work and dedication, man. That money is gone anyway.
Mal
You teach how to do that?
Flip
Yeah, yeah.
Joe Budden
He.
Flip
No, no, but it's not that. I need some help and I was just telling Ish. I said, yo. One of the accountants charged 500 an hour. Like, he even includes the email. If he responds to an email. Some crazy that I'm learning in real time.
Mal
Yeah.
Flip
And.
Joe Budden
Oh, you don't say.
Mal
That's actually.
Flip
I didn't know. I didn't know that. I thought just what you.
Joe Budden
Literally.
Mal
The debate they was having two weeks ago, verbatim.
Flip
Oh, they were.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Flip
So when I. I thought that, you know, once you hire them, they communicate with you, but now they charging by the email if they have to respond to you. He's charging.
Parks
He's on the phone call per piece.
Flip
Of course, I didn't. Yeah.
Joe Budden
So if they pick up your phone, your phone call.
Flip
Yes.
Parks
You're getting charged for that.
Flip
And they call you on weekends and weekday. They don't mind. They'll call you at night. Yeah, but you're being charged for that time.
Parks
Of course.
Mal
That's great though, man. And you got a lot of insurance costs too, I'm sure.
Flip
Huh?
Mal
I'm just imagining on your set the insurance cost a little higher.
Flip
Yes. Yeah. Well, here's the thing. And this is why you have insurance.
Joe Budden
I do.
Flip
Hold on.
Mal
He just answer like a.
Joe Budden
Who don't.
Flip
How about the response?
Mal
That's a good idea.
Flip
No, no, no. You like to crack jokes. Would you let me respond, please? They was about to cancel my insurance. Cause it was up for a renewal and I didn't pay. I kept pushing it all, pushing it all. Because I was good with that, with them. So there's somebody new there that told me, yo, you gotta pay. What? You gotta pay or your insurance is about to be canceled.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Flip
Cause they off the strength. Earlier the month when I was not doing too good, they said, yo. I said, I don't got it right now. Can you send it? You know I'm good for it. They sent it. I gave it to my landlord. I just totally forgot the room was happening. But, you know, I paid. I paid it.
Mal
Please do. I just don't want nothing to happen. Like some crazy unexpected shit could happen. Like a brawl could break out on set. Somebody get stolen, somebody get punched in the face.
Flip
Stop it.
Mal
You know what I mean?
Flip
Next thing you know, I paid it two days ago.
Joe Budden
Okay?
Mal
Solid. That's all.
Joe Budden
Damn.
Mal
You get money up here, yo.
Flip
Mel, why did you.
Mal
You sent me a DM from They Eating.
Joe Budden
They Eating.
Flip
You sent me a DM up here.
Parks
Getting to it.
Flip
Do you run the Hot and Bother page? Is that you that run the Instagram? Cause you sent me a DM about wanting to live in health. So I don't know if you was like, talking to me through it. Like, it was a video about once black men wanted to live and.
Parks
So one of her assistants was cracking on you?
Flip
No, it wasn't cracking on me, but it was like, when I read it, I'm like, damn, Mel, really want me to get healthy.
Melissa
Like, I think it was me.
Joe Budden
That was one of the spaces, girl.
Melissa
No, it was me. Stop it.
Joe Budden
That wasn't nobody, but stop it. This is.
Flip
She get for free the team.
Parks
She got a team of.
Flip
Yeah.
Joe Budden
Intern, intern, intern.
Flip
I did that paid intern move, too. I paid for your gas. I'll pay me a couple gas.
Melissa
No, that was me.
Flip
That wasn't you.
Melissa
It was me. No, it was me, okay? It was me, I promise.
Flip
I ain't going to lie. The way you pull it off, you find a way to get the free.
Joe Budden
The free. The free.
Flip
Shit.
Melissa
What?
Flip
Did you tell him what you promised me? I'll bring you to the Jamie here.
Parks
I bring you up there, I flip this it.
Flip
He put all them from the networks.
Melissa
Did.
Flip
Mail the network. We gonna bring you right on up.
Mal
Mail the network.
Parks
Mail the network.
Joe Budden
Mel be hustling and out of her.
Flip
She getting it done, Joe. You hear me?
Joe Budden
Anywho, Then she make this little stupid face. Look, look. Then she make this little stupid ass face. Gotta love it. Gotta love it. All right. Saturday night was the fight.
Flip
Yes, sir.
Joe Budden
Saturday night was the fight. GerVontae. Tank Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr. I owe that man an apology.
Flip
We do.
Joe Budden
I mean, I ain't speaking for y'all. I don't know what anybody else said. I came in here with my bald ass and was like, I would like for Tank to fight somebody that I know because I'm a casual fan.
Melissa
That was what you said.
Joe Budden
Yeah, yeah. So I owe that man an apology. He certainly gained my respect. Really great fight. The best fight I've ever seen against Tank. I think he won.
Parks
I do, too.
Joe Budden
I think he won.
Flip
They didn't count. If they counted a knockdown, you gotta count it.
Parks
Can't count.
Joe Budden
Why not?
Parks
It's not the rules.
Joe Budden
What's the rules?
Parks
The rule is if. If you take a knee as a result of some other circumstance outside of being punched or hit that forced you to Take a knee. It doesn't count as a knockdown. Like an equipment malfunction or something like that. It don't count as a knockdown.
Joe Budden
But he got punched.
Parks
He didn't. So when they showed it, they showed the super slow mo. The two punches that he threw missed.
Joe Budden
Him right before that he got hit.
Parks
But the two. I know. So he looked at the referee. He looked at the referee and took a knee he didn't like. It wasn't a punch that forced him to take the knee. Do you understand what I'm saying? And they showed it in super slow mo.
Joe Budden
That's open for interpretation as well.
Parks
That's true.
Flip
But yeah, and there's a lot of AI generated videos with that because they saying that at one point he turned his head and the punch missed. But I didn't.
Joe Budden
But he got hit.
Parks
He got hit, bro. They showed.
Joe Budden
And then those two. Yeah, I seen him.
Mal
Y'all talking about two different punches.
Joe Budden
Yeah, yeah, I'm talking about the hit before those two check jabs, right? And then he looked at the ref for a while and then he took the knee.
Mal
And that's what makes the rule interesting. Because based on the rule, the fact that you didn't get hit with them two jabs means you can take the knee. Cause the jabs didn't cause you to take the knee. But your point is well taken, which is you can still be dizzy from the punch.
Parks
It was 30 seconds long, four punches thrown. It was four punches thrown. He threw a hard ass hook that missed. Then he hit him with another, like, semi hook. Then he threw two jabs that missed. So it's a possibility. Like when Tank hit Ryan with that liver shot, he punched him. My man took about three steps back and then was like, whoa.
Mal
You know what I'm saying?
Parks
I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just saying it's open to interpretation. Like Mark said. My thing is, I don't think he lost.
Joe Budden
I'm not hanging my hat on that knee either, by the way. I think he just lost.
Parks
Nah, they gave. They gave. I think it was a draw because they gave. Two of the judges gave roach the 12th round. Round. And that 12th round wasn't really Roaches, in my opinion. So I think, I think.
Joe Budden
See, I read. I read that Tank got two of the judges gave Tank the 12th. And if he didn't get those two, those two judges in 12th, he loses.
Parks
See, I read it. But they said they gave roaches, so we'll check it.
Flip
Yeah, we'll check it.
Joe Budden
Tank won the last round to me.
Parks
And two of the jets gave Roach last round. Those two judges would have gave Tank the last.
Joe Budden
Fact check that.
Parks
You can check.
Joe Budden
Fact check that.
Flip
What we watching in real time is how the audience is. I don't want to say they're getting tired of Tank, but they, you know, they. I wouldn't say tired. Cause I fuck with Tank, but.
Joe Budden
No, tired is right. I took a nap during them first five rounds.
Flip
No, but they.
Joe Budden
I was dozing in and out.
Flip
Like, they don't boo Tank. They were booing Tank. They started to boo Tank based off his excuse about the grease in his eye. And they were booing him.
Joe Budden
He looked differently than. And he looked different than we're used to seeing him. Regardless of what you think of the outcome, you think he got in the.
Mal
Step or you think it was just a bad night?
Joe Budden
I mean, I think that everybody. I'm talking about two separate things. I'm not taking nothing away from Roach. I'm saying the Tank that I saw on display that night was not like the Tank I've seen in previous fights. That's what I'm saying. That could be from a bad night. He looked frustrated in areas that I'm not used to seeing him frustrated in. I seen a million clips that say he was beefing with Coach Cal in the corner. So there could have been a few things going on. I just know that I'm not used to seeing him like that.
Mal
Word.
Parks
I was just saying I got the official scorecard up and two of the judges did give roach the 10th round. I mean, excuse me, 12th round.
Joe Budden
See, I don't think Roach.
Parks
He didn't win the 12th round. So that's the thing. Like they saying if they would have gave. And those are the two judges that had to even score, had to even fight. So if those two judges give Tank the 12th round, it's a unanimous decision. I think what I told Corey, we had an argument off camera. I think Tank gets hit a lot. Every fight he fights, he gets hit a lot. What happens is he finds a way in the seventh or eighth round to hit somebody with some clean, hard shit that puts him down. And a lot of those fights he be losing on the scorecard. He just be knocking niggas out. So in this particular fight, he couldn't knock Roach out. Roach landed, I mean, went the distance and it was a pretty even fight. I think Tank might have got the edge, in my opinion, but it was a real clear fight. Tank gets hit a lot.
Flip
Tank was doing.
Joe Budden
If he didn't Lose it. He didn't win it.
Parks
Yeah, I think the draw's fine. I think a draw is fine.
Joe Budden
He didn't win it.
Parks
I'm not mad at the draw. I'm not mad at a draw.
Joe Budden
Me either.
Flip
Because, I mean, I'm not mad at. Can we acknowledge how we thought that this would be a bum fight, not on Tank's behalf, but just, like, we didn't know who the guy was. And we were off our seats. We were on the edge. Like, Lux was at my house and, you know, I was sitting there. Like, we were like this. Oh, shit.
Parks
I thought it was a good fight.
Flip
It was a real good fight.
Parks
I thought it was real.
Flip
Real good fight. Shout out to the bass. I'm sorry. Ish.
Parks
One of the things I like with Tank. Cause we criticize people like Shakur, we criticize people when they want to box, right? When they strategically box, Tank kind of gives us what the fans want, which is a brawl. So then was dissing him when he was brawling with a brawler and he wasn't dominating him. Which. Which one do we want? We want a boxing match or you want a brawling match? You get what I'm saying? And I think that he typically brawls. He gets hit a lot.
Joe Budden
He just hits harder.
Parks
Them niggas was hitting the out. Yeah, he just hits hard. They was taking some hits.
Joe Budden
Yeah. From round six, seven on, that was a slug fest. Yeah, that was an absolute match. Great, great fight. I got a problem with how late them fights be starting. Me, too.
Flip
Me, too.
Joe Budden
This really. I don't stay out at 11:45.
Mal
Yeah, I'll be bad.
Flip
Why do they do that? Is that a business? It was in the East. It wasn't.
Melissa
I know, but usually the. The fights are on the West Coast. So it starts like around, like, eight, nine o'clock over there.
Joe Budden
Get this cracking, right? We in Brooklyn start this at 6.
Mal
Get the undercar going at 6, so we can see this fight before bedtime.
Flip
I agree.
Parks
That's a good point.
Joe Budden
Again, all the respect in the world to Lamont Roach. But again, them saying Lamont Roach one would have bigger implications than just on boxing.
Parks
How so?
Joe Budden
Because Tank is the biggest draw right now, right?
Parks
Indeed, yes.
Joe Budden
Like, nobody near in any weight class.
Parks
Nowhere. Nowhere near it.
Joe Budden
And I think he's the. What is it? What did I read this morning? Not he's the last American fighter, but he's the dominant American fighter. Like, a lot of the other fighters have signed deals where they. In Abu Dhabi or over here, wherever. I'm not fact checking right now, but I read something that says Shakur and a bunch of other niggas fuck with just non American places. So if you're taking it from the biggest draw in America, then. Nah, hell no.
Parks
You're saying I still might be business on American soil.
Joe Budden
Business, business.
Parks
All business.
Joe Budden
Big business. It's too many. It's too many things that are affected.
Parks
Yeah, we can't let that happen.
Joe Budden
Yeah, sorry. I'm with that.
Parks
I mean, we say. We say that. We say it about other sports.
Joe Budden
Yeah, it's true.
Parks
Your fools.
Joe Budden
I'm gonna let that happen. Happen. I'm with that.
Parks
That's our brand at that point. Shout out to Tank, man.
Joe Budden
I think they announced all night, yo. We have reached a record for the number of people even allowed in the Barclays tonight. Hey, wow. They kept saying that they've been to Barclays a million times. Like, we're at 19, 7, 25. They was packed up in this.
Parks
For a boxing match, so.
Joe Budden
And.
Parks
And I don't know another fighter that could put him in the stadium like that.
Joe Budden
What did y'all think about his hair grease excuse for the knee?
Mal
I think he believed it.
Flip
No, but.
Melissa
And that's what's showed it.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Flip
And Amanda. Amanda, she came out and said that she had a similar situation.
Joe Budden
Same thing happened to her.
Flip
Yeah, I read Amanda. Amanda Serrano. Oh, yeah. She said it happened to me before. She said that it burns your eyes.
Joe Budden
So that happened to me before when I was getting to Beijing. Beijing starts dripping in your eye now. It's like, oh, shit.
Parks
Oh. When her grease start dripping in your crazy.
Flip
Her grease.
Parks
She on top.
Flip
You a porn star like you and you. Hefner would have been. You would have been in the Playboy Mansion.
Parks
Never.
Flip
That probably was your wish as a kid.
Parks
Never.
Flip
I can't wait to go there with them with those snow bunnies.
Joe Budden
They charge with all due respect, to get in there after watching everybody at the basketball court. What's up? She gonna be on top. She.
Parks
Were.
Joe Budden
Respectfully respect. Myself included. I said words myself included.
Flip
Family.
Parks
That's the first thing I said to him. I said, damn, son, you can't even. I was like, damn, son, you can't even get into your. No more. What you say? It's a rap you gonna be on. He's like, nah, I hit work, I.
Mal
Get a little rope. I mean, my Sunday was little rotator cuff that's up.
Joe Budden
Our partners deserve better. But nah, nah, I felt horrible.
Parks
I felt horrible.
Flip
If Lamont. If Lamont.
Joe Budden
Yo, you good? Hold up. Are you cool?
Melissa
Oh, no, I'm great.
Joe Budden
Are you cool? I taught. Making that little stupid face at us. I caught you making that little stupid face at us.
Melissa
Listen, I'm just glad that, you know, like the. It's the collective delusion has lifted. The cloud has lifted and now you.
Mal
Guys are, you know, we're middle age men.
Melissa
Yeah.
Flip
We're in our place.
Melissa
Yeah.
Mal
Yeah. That's fair.
Melissa
It's cute. It's cute. It's cute.
Joe Budden
You were saying?
Flip
If Lamont Roach Jr. Does well in his next fights, man, we got a new start, you know, tough. He's fire. I mean, he made a statement from dc.
Mal
What's his record? I don't follow boxing much.
Parks
He got a good record.
Mal
Okay, so this isn't like a styles makes fights thing where, like, where, like.
Joe Budden
He got one loss.
Mal
Okay.
Flip
He was trying to do. He was doing the shoulder roll. And I see that Tank figured out the double jab with the left or whatever he was doing to get past the shoulder roll. People can't do it like Floyd.
Joe Budden
Floyd.
Flip
People can't do it like Floyd.
Parks
That's Floyd.
Flip
Yeah. People can't do it like. Yeah.
Joe Budden
Then that's the other problem. Right. With all due respect, I ain't just gonna throw the star word around so loosely. True. Like, it take a lot outside of boxing.
Flip
True.
Joe Budden
To do what Tank has done, what Floyd did, what Pacquiao did, what De La Hoya did.
Flip
Tank is that nigga.
Joe Budden
Yeah. Like, when you start getting into the box office aspect, Lamont Roach Farrell, he got the boxing you need that other part.
Parks
But he's never had an opportunity to do it. So we don't know if you can do it until you get the shot, dawg.
Joe Budden
I feel like even at the weigh in and the interviews, when they at the table and they're doing the interviews that lead.
Mal
Yeah.
Joe Budden
The face of all that shit leading up to the fight even kind of lacked some of the normal flair that Tank rings.
Parks
Yep.
Joe Budden
Normally that. I think that's because I know you. We've been fighting since we was 10.
Parks
And they both from the same.
Joe Budden
He like, yo, your mom is here. Come on. I'm not gonna do that in front of your mom. It's like we not getting. We not getting. And Lamont is like, they asking him some of the juicy shit. Yo, in an interview you said Tank wasn't gonna knock you out and you was gonna destroy him. What do you think about that? And he gave the logical man answer, like, the fuck you want me to say?
Mal
Right?
Joe Budden
That's what they asked me, I'm fighting this man. Like, how would you like me to answer that? That makes sense. It's not your box office.
Mal
That ain't what boxing is for.
Joe Budden
It's not your box office.
Parks
Nah, but I.
Flip
Not when you friends with somebody, Joe.
Parks
No, I think once you respect a nigga, once you've been in that ring for 12 rounds, that nigga hit hard. He wasn't no slouch, he wasn't no chump. I gotta respect him all I'm gonna look like a.
Flip
They started fighting each other dirty a little. They started getting mad at each other.
Joe Budden
Tank do that a lot.
Parks
We in war.
Flip
They were talking crazy to each other in the ring.
Parks
Yo, what y'all think about the hairstylist coming out?
Joe Budden
Sit down.
Flip
Yeah, that's not your time.
Joe Budden
Sit down somewhere.
Parks
I think she's lost a couple thousand dollars. Cause that's the last time you'll do my hair, you dummy. Just to get some fucking clap. You a idiot. Shut the fuck up.
Joe Budden
You shouldn't have nothing to say, stupid.
Parks
I didn't use grease. I'd have came out. Y'all put extra grease in your shit. My bad. It's my fault. Crazy stupid ass to get some.
Joe Budden
Yeah, I would have just took a different angle. Did y'all like his hair?
Parks
My bad. Tank, I apologize. I'll try to use some oil base next time. Nigga, I upset all that shit even.
Joe Budden
If he was lying, right?
Parks
That ain't for you to say shit.
Mal
Yeah, that's your job.
Joe Budden
That's the. We need to bring that. Bring back people supporting your lie. It ain't enough of that no more. These bitches got all the gadgets and the tricks and the iPhones and the icloud link to their phone and the iPad. No, bring back when you need it.
Parks
Bring back.
Joe Budden
One friend to support the lie. Yo, you know what they need to bring back. Yo, call her right now. Like we don't even get that no more.
Mal
That was the one.
Parks
Call it right now.
Mal
Call it right now.
Flip
When Joe received the call, they was looking for Michael Paul. He came inside like something's going on with my phone. They called me about Michael Paul, like I'm about that doctor. Like his is tapped. He know his tapped. He can't his tapped.
Joe Budden
They called me, asked me if I was available to do a surgery. I knew they had to. I thought you joking. I said, yo, go ahead.
Parks
Yo, my thumb a little up, but I'm nice with the knife.
Joe Budden
I'm free. I'll come up there and save somebody. John Q.
Parks
Oh, I owe it to humanity.
Joe Budden
Yeah. No, for real.
Mal
With the humanity to try.
Flip
Great fight, though. Shout out to both.
Joe Budden
Shout out to both of them.
Flip
Looking forward to the rematch.
Parks
Hopefully they get a rematch. I don't think he had a rematch clause.
Joe Budden
He did have a rematch clause. He said on Twitter.
Flip
Really?
Joe Budden
Cause Tank was like, and I'm pushing for the rematch fast. And then Lamont was like, it's in there already.
Parks
No. They both was like, yo, we should do it again. But no, no.
Joe Budden
Lamont said, it's in the contract on Twitter. Already on Twitter. Because you wanted it in there. So if you want a rematch, take the rematch.
Mal
Right, Cool.
Joe Budden
We'll see.
Parks
Look, you know, all that's going to.
Ish
Do.
Flip
I'll push the price. That's it.
Parks
It's gonna push the price. Now everybody gonna want to see the.
Mal
Yeah, it's gonna push the price.
Flip
You gonna be high.
Parks
90 days, and now it's going to command Vegas.
Joe Budden
Did that fight make you feel differently about what you thought of Tank versus Shakur?
Parks
No.
Flip
No.
Joe Budden
Who would you have winning in there?
Parks
I can't answer. It's hard. Cause styles make fights. But I. I told me and Corey had this argument off camera. I said that. See the way Roach was fighting, they was literally going toe to toe. Like, yo, Shakur's not gonna do that. Shakur's not trying to get hit. You get what I'm saying? So it's gonna just be. It's gonna be a style thing. If Shakur can hit him and move and hit him and move and hit him and move, he'll beat him in point points. If Tank can land one of them monster hits that he be doing, then he'll knock him out. But Tank could take punches. He got a chin, yo, he take a lot of punches. He got a chin. So I think that you never know, because, again, it's the style thing. The north New Jersey in me will not allow me to honestly answer that question. Word.
Mal
That's my answer.
Joe Budden
There you go, yo.
Parks
You stupid, yo.
Joe Budden
There you go. Free.
Parks
I ain't gonna say that.
Joe Budden
I've seen a lot of people giving 10. I thank Slack for coming out with Jim and Juels. I'm from New York, so I can't get into that. I thought it was fly.
Parks
Why, though?
Flip
Like, what is there this trying to be funny?
Melissa
What's the connection?
Parks
What's the critique?
Joe Budden
The critique is a lot of people feel like they've never seen Tank look like that. So they saying bad juju was on him from Jim and Juels Cam said it's bad energy when you came out. Then there's some other comedian that been saying, yo, why the. Oh, you got these old, young, whatever they were saying again, I'm from New York. I can't. I can't rock with it. I was hyped. Yeah. I was like, I like that song.
Flip
Yeah.
Joe Budden
I like. I like crunk music. They just gonna keep getting that gym for looking young. Yeah. Like dressing young. The chrome hard scarf. Like you can't win.
Parks
But that's his battling.
Mal
That's what he do.
Joe Budden
That's what I'm saying.
Mal
Yeah.
Joe Budden
Listen, my New York bias shows in Jim Jones conversation. So I'm leaving it. So I'm leaving it. Man, that album is crazy, though.
Mal
Yes, it is really good start to finish.
Joe Budden
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it is.
Mal
All right.
Joe Budden
What else we got? What else we got?
Mal
Why is Paul George on the board? I just want to understand.
Parks
Oh, man. Cause Paul George ski mask call a fame.
Joe Budden
He might. He might. He might be the. Don't you wish for the days when all you had to complain about was Tobias Harris contract. Remember that?
Parks
And he killing in Detroit. He's doing well.
Mal
I didn't want to lose to Paul George.
Joe Budden
Said that he's stopping his podcast to focus on winning a championship.
Mal
Thanks.
Joe Budden
And I thought. I thought that was Sintel, but it wasn't.
Mal
It wasn't.
Joe Budden
He really said that.
Mal
So the question for me not to take it off of Paul George, but because I think think that's fair is in general, should NBA players be allowed.
Melissa
To have podcasts while they're in season?
Mal
While they're in season.
Parks
I don't like it.
Melissa
Or even while they're in play.
Mal
Yeah.
Melissa
Versus the ones that are retired right now.
Parks
I'm not a fan of the sports. Sports having podcasts during season. I've never been a fan of it.
Joe Budden
I stand with ice. I almost wanted to say, really not if your team is doing bad. I can't see how your conversation with the owner is going in that respect. Jalen Brunson makes it tough for me to have that argument. Cause him and Josh Hart have a podcast that I want them to stop. But every time we're down by 12 with 30 seconds left, he scores fucking 14 points.
Mal
Right.
Joe Budden
So I can't say anything about Jalen Brunson's performance. But would I like that podcast to stop during season? Yeah. But then they got Dolan on the next podcast that they promote, which is like a clusterfuck for Knicks fans because Dolan has had strict media rules since he inherited the team from his dad.
Mal
Yeah.
Joe Budden
So for him to be sitting with a player and talking is, like, phenomenal. It's almost like the Yankees changing the beard rule.
Parks
I think it's dope. I think it gives them something mentally to distract their focus. They don't. They work out every day, but they don't work out hard every day. You know what I mean? Like, they watch film, they might do walkthroughs and shit like that, but then they have a huge portion of their day that belongs to them. So if these are things that bring their anxiety down, it's fun. They enjoy doing it.
Ish
Keep em up the clubs.
Mal
Yeah.
Parks
And that part. We in New York City, bro. We've seen what New York. We've seen what New York does to athletes. You know what I'm saying? So if they could do this, you've.
Joe Budden
Seen it for sure, right? Yeah. You too talk about it.
Parks
Yeah, you got eyes.
Joe Budden
We talking about you right now. Talk about it. You've seen it for sure, for sure.
Parks
I've seen it for sure, for sure.
Joe Budden
You was one of the niggas that did it.
Parks
I don't hoop. You didn't need to anyway, so I think I'm for it.
Mal
I'm against it even.
Parks
What you said, if it takes they focus. Like, I think if your team is ass, I don't want to see you focused on nothing else. It's Kyler Murray playing Call of Duty, so. But, like, I don't. You could do it, and I just don't want to know that you doing that to me. You should be trying to get better. Y'all should be trying to focus on how to turn this team around and try to get some wins out there. If you sitting here kicking it with your homies or whatever on a podcast about it just seems focus is off. They human, bro. So to Joe's point, with Brunson and Josh Ark, they winning.
Mal
Yeah, but.
Parks
Yeah, but that's an outlier. I know that's not true. Draymond is winning.
Mal
Draymond's winning, too. But for me, for me, it's not about.
Parks
LeBron is winning.
Mal
If you're winning, no one complains. If you're losing, people complain. But for me, and that's ultimately what it comes down to, right? As a fan or as a owner, it's the perception of it for me, as well as the effectiveness of it. The first question is, can you pod and be good at this, at your job? And I don't know. Some people can, some people can't. Before podcast, Paul George was sitting out games before podcast existed. He was fucking coming up short in playoffs, at least in a lot of people's minds. The numbers don't really show that, but whatever, right? It's a perception of it. So if I have. If I'm the Sixers owner and they're selling tickets for a dollar right now in Philly, they're literally selling tickets for.
Parks
You ain't been down there in a long time neither.
Mal
No, I. I sold all my tickets. I paid like $200,000 for the six.
Joe Budden
Years wanting another date.
Parks
No, I didn't.
Joe Budden
No, he didn't. No, he didn't go. Who said no, he didn't go anymore. Yo, he gonna call you when he go again.
Mal
So if I can't give these tickets away and Embiid is injured, Paul George ain't playing. And then I go to YouTube to type Paul Georgian to find out when he's gonna play. And instead I got another episode of podcast.
Joe Budden
Pete.
Mal
It just looks bad. It's about it and it's bad for business.
Joe Budden
That Paul George contract, I think is like a five year deal. Something nuts. It looks nuts. As it goes. Embiid being unavailable is an understatement. They're now talking about getting their money back on his contract medical if he's unable to play a year from the date that it's they call. Yo, you don't give my money. I don't care about all this. Yeah, it's over now, right? We got to go figure out what.
Mal
That bet was when it's $5,000.
Joe Budden
Yeah. You just got to send that.
Mal
I give it to you right now if you want it.
Joe Budden
You have $5,000 cash in them jeans.
Mal
I was going. You'd be able to see them.
Joe Budden
You'd be able to see the serial.
Mal
Number I was going to bring you to, kid. Bring it to you in cash.
Flip
My man is doing. Our man is doing bad. He doing.
Parks
He doing up 4 years 211.
Mal
He must be up.
Flip
I'm man doing bad.
Mal
He.
Melissa
He collects on his bets.
Flip
Nah, but he usually.
Joe Budden
Ah.
Flip
I never seen.
Mal
There's a hunger in his voice.
Flip
Touch him. He got a fever. You could My. You doing it looking shaky for you, doggy. I don't know what plan you got. It's tough out, but I ain't falling for it.
Joe Budden
I'm saying this brought fake water in here.
Flip
All type of force and water with Nams on it.
Joe Budden
It's tough. I don't. Don't always assume I'm doing good. Check on your strong friends make.
Parks
He making 53 million this year. He's at career lows, Joe.
Flip
Oh, Joe.
Parks
Yeah, Joe, about that. About 40.
Joe Budden
That is nuts.
Parks
Yo, he. He make a 50. He signed a four year deal for two. 211 and change.
Mal
You know, they sick. He's killing.
Parks
And as a fan, he averaged 16.
Mal
Points a game for as much money as I spent on season tickets. I actually see it as, like, y'all are fucking with my money right now. Like, I feel disrespected. I feel disrespected to watch somebody not play. I mean, when we went to the game, he was just sitting there chilling.
Parks
Chilling. Yeah, he was chilling.
Mal
And to see that and then to watch you be on a podcast every day. Podcast is different than playing basketball. I get that. Including we proved that this weekend. But, like, at some point, like, you gotta look like you, given the effort, you know what I'm saying? As an owner, I think they should just make a rule.
Joe Budden
I can't say nothing about Paul George negative ever. Cause many years ago, we was heading in the whip, right there, right, right, right there by Greenhouse. We was walking in whip and I was behind him in the lion, or he was behind me. In the lion. I got respect for him. Got respect for him, man.
Parks
How many?
Joe Budden
That is a cheat. Goal. Six, nine in the line. Decent looking, nice schedule, press lineup, good contract. I'm in there.
Flip
Bummy salutation.
Joe Budden
Bummy as hell shooting. I don't care. Joe budded. I got immense respect for Paul George. So I guess ain't nothing about him.
Flip
I have a question real quick. When Luca wiped his sweat on the basketball, yo, that ref was tight.
Joe Budden
That ref wanted to smack the shit out of Luka.
Flip
Did she have a right to be mad?
Joe Budden
Was that a girl?
Flip
Oh, yeah.
Joe Budden
It was a guy, I think.
Flip
Sorry. Pardon me. Did the ref have a right to be upset?
Joe Budden
Yes.
Parks
Yes and no.
Joe Budden
But Luka has a right to do that. The ref has a right to be mad. Stop. Nigga. It's a million people that work here that can get you a towel or anything to wipe your sweat off. I'm the one handling this ball. You wiping your sweat on the ball, and I gotta handle it right here on the free throw line. Be sweaty as they be wiping Yugoslavians all. No.
Mal
What's Luca?
Joe Budden
What's Luca? Some right. They be sweaty. Them. Them.
Parks
Yo, but again, everybody jersey be sweaty. Like, they'll wipe their jersey. It's the same.
Joe Budden
The black people don't act like that.
Melissa
I was right. He's Slovenian.
Joe Budden
See, he's Slovenian.
Parks
What the. Is that what country?
Flip
Yugoslavia.
Joe Budden
Yes.
Melissa
No, no, it's not Yugoslavian.
Ish
Slovenia, potentially part of the old Yugoslavia.
Melissa
Melania is from there.
Flip
Hold me down. Hold me down.
Joe Budden
Enough of that Sick. You'll be talking about.
Flip
She know that side. She know that side. We just crack jokes. Our mother was whooping her ass as a kid. She knows that's a. She had no Walk with the President picture. Remember we said.
Joe Budden
I think. I think Reddit found a picture. That was funny.
Melissa
It's possible. It's possible. I posted pictures of me and my mom on my bas. Write it. Get off my ass.
Flip
You held it down, though. That was mad funny.
Joe Budden
Oh, you held it down.
Flip
No, I mean, the jokes. Like, that's. She like that. She's a great sport.
Joe Budden
Yeah. No, that was hilarious. That was absolutely hilarious.
Parks
All right, Paul, George, I think he got the memo.
Mal
Yeah, he did. Even saying that out loud.
Joe Budden
All right, we're gonna try to do this with care and sensitivity. We're gonna try to do this in a manner to where y'all still have time to do what you need to do out there. We gonna try to do this with the utmost respect for the viewers, without too many spoilers. Spoiler alert. Spoiler alert. That may indeed. Oh, my God. Did they kill the soundtrack? Absolutely. Smoked the soundtrack.
Parks
Smoked it.
Joe Budden
Oh, let me stop this for a second. Had me singing that.
Parks
No, because first they was just doing an instrumental, and I caught it, and I was like, oh, they caught that.
Joe Budden
This is my question to y'all. This is just quick. Which do you prefer? You're such a honky. Shut your ass.
Melissa
Phil fucking Collins. He's him.
Joe Budden
Which do y'all prefer? What they did on paradise where they have the angelic white voice coming down to do your favorite known slap? Like paradise under a soft bed of music? Or the trend in the movies where they take the hard rap song hook and slow it all the way down? Like the horror movies. Like, I got five on it.
Melissa
Ooh.
Joe Budden
Like, which one?
Melissa
They did that?
Flip
I love that.
Joe Budden
They do that a lot now in.
Melissa
The movies, but that one is regular.
Parks
Say My Name for Candyman. They did that one.
Joe Budden
Yeah, they doing it now. I'm with that in the new one. Bear with me. Cause my brain is leaving me in the new one. Not a Marvel movie, but one of them new, new hero movies that's coming out soon. I think they did Starship like, and they slowed that down, and that was absolutely insane. All right, y'all know what I'm talking about.
Melissa
What song from Starship though, Sarah.
Joe Budden
The one. Hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up. The one I just played recently.
Parks
Let's hit.
Joe Budden
Oh, well.
Parks
Anyway, I like slowed up.
Ish
I like when they do both.
Parks
I like both.
Ish
Like how they did with this.
Parks
I like both. Both.
Joe Budden
The angelic white voice is underrated.
Mal
I love me a good angelic white voice.
Joe Budden
Yeah. No, it's true. All right, did everybody here see the finale of paradise? Yeah. 40 and up right now. Let's go. Give me your bag. Big bell. Hey.
Flip
Let'S go ahead.
Joe Budden
Shout out to the legend. Phil Collins, too.
Flip
They played a lot of y'all.
Joe Budden
Starts to whistle as he crosses. I'm so mad at myself for all the guesses that I did as to who's gonna kill Cal.
Parks
Something crazy.
Joe Budden
Think twice. It's another day of you and me in Paradise. Oh, hey, Light is in there right now. Let the musician get in bed. Is this Y Rock?
Mal
Borderline, but, yeah, it's a little passive.
Joe Budden
All right. Very angry at myself. For my guests.
Mal
Not listening to these spoilers.
Ish
Take a break.
Mal
No, I'm not. I'm going to the bathroom.
Ish
Take a break.
Mal
Yeah, I'm like, six episodes.
Joe Budden
Oh, my God. Starbucks. Take a hike. Go to Starbucks.
Ish
Grab us some lunch or something.
Joe Budden
What a jerk. What a jerk.
Parks
There's no way anybody could fucking Wayne Cliffhanger.
Joe Budden
It's not true.
Flip
How?
Parks
It's not possible.
Joe Budden
It was real easy to say, oh, the guy that they showed us trying to kill him.
Parks
Yeah, but you don't think.
Flip
But, you know, we thought that they tackled him and he went to prison.
Joe Budden
My brain should have came up with that one. Oh, it's the guy that they showed us already.
Parks
No.
Joe Budden
Trying to murk this nigga.
Parks
You would have never thought that. No.
Joe Budden
Why?
Parks
Because you wouldn't have a backstory as to why he tried to kill him in the first place.
Joe Budden
To me, that shouldn't have mattered.
Parks
And I would have thought they killed that guy. I would have thought. Yeah. Or in prison for life.
Ish
I thought you lost.
Joe Budden
Locked the up.
Parks
Yeah.
Flip
I thought he left. He was locked up.
Joe Budden
You got out of there. Yeah, but we don't.
Parks
We don't. We never would even remotely have an inkling that he would get out of.
Joe Budden
There in Prison Break. He got out of there. And that hunting show. They get out of there and on tv, the guy gets out of jail. On tv, jail ain't as secure as they.
Parks
No, the other guest with the lady. That was. That was a better guess.
Joe Budden
That was a good guess.
Parks
That was a better guess.
Joe Budden
That was a good Guess. What did y'all think of the finale? Come on, talk to me, talk to me.
Parks
Going too much in the detail. I didn't like it too tough. I was very underwhelmed. I liked it. Very underwhelmed. I. I remember when it first went. When it went off, I looked at the te. I was like, damn, that was kind of.
Flip
Were you underwhelmed because you didn't see the. You didn't know that he would be the killer?
Melissa
We were underwhelmed. If I could talk for both of us. Because the show jumped the shark in the first season.
Ish
Whoa, That's a little.
Joe Budden
That's aggressive.
Ish
That's aggressive.
Mal
What does that mean for people who.
Melissa
Don'T know what the term shark is? It's a TV term.
Ish
We've broke this down at least six times.
Melissa
But new listeners, if you have, not if you're not familiar with the term. It basically means when a TV series plot line has gone from plausible because there's always, you know, a suspended state of reality from happiness. Dramatic effect. Yeah. So it goes from being plausible to completely ridiculous.
Joe Budden
What did you think was completely ridiculous about it? And if. If you thought that up to episode seven has been plausible.
Parks
Yeah.
Joe Budden
No, because that could be deemed as completely ridiculous.
Melissa
No, you're right. And like I said, that's why I said suspend reality and, you know, just kind of understand that the show is. A lot of dramatic effect is taken here, A lot of liberties is taken. So you do that, but then it's like, okay, dudes in fucking jail happens to be in Colorado. Then there's a prison break, and it's just like, the timing is so short, and for all of these tiny little variables to come into. Into play. He breaks out of prison, he happens to get the uniform. Then he's walking down the street, you know, checking IDs of people who are in cars, and there's hundreds of thousands of cars, but he just happens to buck up on the two people that have clearance to go to paradise come the on.
Ish
He was searching for people.
Joe Budden
And then he did.
Melissa
And then. But the timing, this just.
Ish
He was from the area. He was working there. He tried to assassinate him there.
Melissa
Like, he wasn't from. He wasn't from Colorado.
Flip
He was working. He was working.
Parks
He was one of the creators.
Flip
He was the manager, he was the engineer.
Parks
They locked him up in that jail.
Melissa
Yes.
Parks
Cool. So when the jailbreak happens, of course, if the world goes awry, the motherfuckers that are in jail are gonna try to break out. That would Happen next door. That's a fact. If the world goes awry, he got out. Everybody else on some run amok shit. He's an analytic. He sees the dude down there with a badge, with a uniform, with all of those things. I get out, I kill him.
Melissa
Okay?
Parks
I mean, I kill him. I take the knife out his chest. Now I have a uniform that makes me look official. Official and representable.
Melissa
At that point, I totally understand. And I see. I see the purpose for it all, but it just. It just. To me.
Parks
And it wasn't. It wasn't hundreds of thousands of cars. It was.
Melissa
Did you see the aerial shots?
Parks
I saw it.
Mal
Of all.
Parks
They wind around. They winded around and he's going car.
Ish
By car, like, yo, finding someone with a thing.
Parks
And they're like, yeah, they got us going, blah, blah, blah. And that road might have been the.
Flip
Road to Promise land. Yeah.
Parks
I knew he was gonna kill the people. Yeah, he killed the people. And then.
Melissa
And then he's coming out of like a. A convenience store and just happens to find this woman who's just sitting there. It just.
Joe Budden
That was one of my favorite.
Parks
That was one of his favorite parts. Because now you happen to be in.
Joe Budden
The best spot that you could be of anyone in the world.
Parks
Right place, right time.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Parks
And it makes me look that much more representable because it was the librarian and his wife. So now my wife and I are gonna get on and makes it look. You know what I mean, like more. You won't think that acceptable. Yeah, yeah. Like it's a husband and wife couple as opposed to just a single man coming on. No. Bring the wife in the table.
Melissa
And then in addition to that, we look at the president's house or the former president's house. He's got guards and sort of. So he just happens to know.
Parks
That's what killed me.
Melissa
He just happens to know that he's gonna get past all the Secret Service agents and get up to this man's bedroom and kill him.
Parks
Only two. And they was off their guard. Only two.
Joe Budden
And they showed you that every single. You wouldn't know it in episode one. The guards were addicted to video games.
Parks
They play video games Every day at.
Joe Budden
11 o'clock in the security.
Melissa
Every day at 11 o'clock would. He doesn't know that though.
Parks
How you know he's not stalking the house. He might be stalking a house. Yeah, he's. Because he said his Watch to exactly 11:00. If you see he was in the bushes, his watch said 11:00. As soon as his wife said 11:00. He put his shit into play. So at 11:00 they always say that these two stupid kill the security to play Wii in the yes. So he might have been watching the house for a period of time. Cause to me what made it less plausible is the daughter going with the girl.
Joe Budden
The daughter should have died. That is my only beef about the finale. The daughter should have been gone. When it looked like Jamie text Sinatra and said yo, it was done. I don't know how. Yeah. I don't know how she survived and Jamie dropped her off and that.
Parks
Nah, she was lying to her the whole shit.
Mal
I know.
Parks
Cause she had the lady was really crazy.
Joe Budden
Crazy Jane James.
Parks
James is really nuts.
Melissa
So I'm confused.
Joe Budden
Would you have popped her?
Parks
Pop Jane?
Flip
Yeah, popped her, shoot her or popped the fucked her.
Joe Budden
No, no, no. Fucked her if I was huh Bill or anybody in there. If you was the guy playing the Wii in there and worked with Jane.
Melissa
Yeah.
Parks
You fuck James Little goofy ass girl. You don't know she's nuts. Cause she played the goofy role to the T. Yo.
Joe Budden
Niggas have to throw that line in the garbage. We didn't know she was nuts.
Parks
Sometimes. Sometimes you don't.
Ish
Sometimes you don't know until.
Parks
Only sometimes. A lot of times we know most.
Joe Budden
Times we know they not and we.
Parks
Just be like all that girl was playing goofy very well. She was when she poisoned that said.
Joe Budden
You said bring the biggest the nuts be having a good and abusive yeah.
Parks
Y'all keep saying y'all stop playing twice.
Joe Budden
The that's gonna throw a lamp at you. Them fire right after too. They just passionate. They passionate. That's all it is.
Parks
Okay.
Melissa
Okay. But I was confused about the When Jane shoots her and then she walks up to Sinatra and she says he was gonna shoot you in the head.
Parks
I'm telling you.
Melissa
And she was like, you have a long road of recovery. Where did she shoot to where she didn't look like she shot her in the fucking neck.
Parks
No. Because she's a Secret Service agent. They don't really miss. So I'm gonna shoot you, bitch. Where I know you ain't gonna die. Probably to the right of your heart somewhere.
Joe Budden
That's what it look like.
Mal
Yeah.
Parks
You not gonna die.
Melissa
Okay.
Parks
You're welcome. Cause he was gonna shoot you in your fucking head.
Joe Budden
He should have. And I need to make it look like you're gonna die like I meant to kill you.
Mal
Yeah.
Parks
Should have been shot.
Joe Budden
Listen, I don't want us to delve deep into this Because I want to give people a chance to watch it. Even though we just unpacked everything for the most part. But I wasn't mad at the finale. I wasn't at all for a quick eight episode run.
Ish
And you got to figure that they didn't necessarily know for certain if there was going to be a reason too.
Mal
Exactly.
Parks
That's right. That was big. And I think that, again, I'm always.
Melissa
Looking for the other shit, the overall theme.
Parks
Yeah, I think that when he starts to tell him, like, yo, dog, I started getting comfortable here. I thought that we had, like, a rebirth of potential for society. And you same rich oligarch motherfuckers put us in prison and started doing the same exact things that y'all fucked up upstairs with. That shit was monumental for me. Him talking to homeboy, like, the little subtle shit, like, you know, when I be watching shit, I'll be looking at the shit away from the action.
Joe Budden
You're not deep, but go ahead.
Parks
All right. But, dog, that shit was monumental. When he was talking to him. Him.
Joe Budden
I agree with you.
Parks
Like, yo, I did this for Adam. Like that. Like, it was.
Joe Budden
It was. It was big and. And trigger warning. I ain't really like the librarian's suicide jump.
Ish
Nah, that was kind of fly.
Joe Budden
I didn't love it. I thought it was like some. Nah, he should have been shot before then. Like, his jump wasn't assertive at all.
Ish
He went and took down a nice little chunk of that sky.
Parks
He did.
Melissa
Sure did.
Parks
And I don't think he should have jumped. I. I wouldn't have shot him if I was them.
Joe Budden
I'd have shot him.
Flip
Yeah, be with them, Howie.
Joe Budden
Not in the head.
Parks
Not me.
Joe Budden
He'd have got shot.
Parks
That's. You can shoot a nigga without killing him.
Joe Budden
And he had the weapon in the library.
Parks
He should have definitely shot the shit.
Joe Budden
He had a murder weapon in the glass case in the library.
Parks
I don't think that's what I'm saying. I don't think he should have shot him. I think that we trying to get out of here, so whatever information that you have is more needed than not. I wouldn't have shot him. And after he sat there and told you why he did what he did. It's the same journey that homeboy was on at that point. We bringing down all the rich. It was the same exact journey that homeboy was on at that point. So why not make him an ally instead of shooting him?
Joe Budden
I enjoyed the episode.
Ish
Me too.
Joe Budden
I also enjoyed, in real life, Sterling K. Brown's wife doing? She was doing a watch reaction.
Ish
Oh, for real?
Joe Budden
Oh, so when Sterling K. Brown, the wife is watching, like, yo, that's all you had to. That's. That's what you said to stop her, try to stop her from going to Atlanta. Like, now I'm looking at you funny. Like, what if this was the real deal?
Parks
Like his real wife.
Joe Budden
His real wife. That's funny. No practice, right? Now tell me how you can get me to not go to Atlanta. Because this is passive. No, that was absolutely one thing I like.
Flip
I like when California press the blue button to stop all the. You know, to shut the world down. I thought that was dope. I didn't see that coming at all. That's one thing.
Joe Budden
He broke the blue shit.
Flip
Yeah, he broke the blue shit and he typed the code in to stop all the nuclear bombs and to shut the world down and sets us back 500 years. But I thought that was great. I like that part.
Parks
Yeah, me too.
Joe Budden
And I just chalked this up as one of those shows. Sometimes you get shows where the finale is before the finale. And that's what this was like. Episode 7 was there.
Parks
Kabang.
Joe Budden
Now we just closing this up to.
Parks
Get to the next season and to Parks point.
Joe Budden
And if that happens, I remember everybody's reaction after episode seven.
Parks
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But again, to Parks's point, they might have had a whole different episode eight.
Joe Budden
Yeah, yeah.
Parks
And now we gotta renew it. We gotta rewrite episode to. You know what I mean, to open it up. Overall, still a great show. Still a bad show.
Joe Budden
Eight episodes. Even if you didn't like the finale, you can't be mad.
Parks
I'm not knocking the show at all.
Joe Budden
Let's hit the round of applause for Sterling K. Brown. Everybody on the staff of Paradise. Really good show.
Ish
It is made by the same guy as this is Us. That makes sense. Dan Fogelman.
Joe Budden
Dan Fogelman. I see a style man. Good style. You good boy. Good style. That boy. That boy is good.
Ish
Let's bring this right back. That.
Joe Budden
Yeah. I ain't mad at him.
Ish
I ain't mad at all.
Joe Budden
What else?
Parks
Else.
Joe Budden
What else out there is important or unimportant?
Parks
Yes, it. Biggie's catalog is going up for sale.
Ish
It is. And his. His 125 million likeness and all that.
Joe Budden
Wow.
Parks
With the likeness.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Melissa
Is this. Does this coincide with his mom's passing?
Ish
That's what's weird about it to me.
Parks
Could be.
Ish
That's what's weird about it.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Ish
It seems it was announced literally, I think maybe a day after she passed.
Melissa
Oh, wow.
Ish
That's weird.
Joe Budden
Weird why? I don't think that's weird.
Parks
Not weird at all.
Mal
Kind of. It kind of flows together.
Joe Budden
Makes sense.
Parks
The estate is in probate, so now we're gonna see what we could get. I don't know. Yeah, you know.
Mal
And the kids don't want it.
Parks
I was about to say. I'm not picking or knowing what his children have. His kids might not have much.
Joe Budden
Nah, well, don't do that. You can have much and still want a hundred million dollars. Facts.
Parks
True. No, I'm just saying. But if you got something, then you might not have not immediately put it up for sale. The very next day, you will evaluate your options. And you know what I'm saying? Assess what? Where your financial situation is. You're not gonna just throw it up for sale tonight. Let's say. Let's take this off, Biggie.
Joe Budden
Yeah. When you don't know.
Parks
But anyway, keep it a buck.
Joe Budden
When y'all die young kids is getting rid of y'all a lot of times.
Parks
That's why you right away.
Flip
That's why you put things in place to prevent that.
Parks
True, Bro, that's not true. It's all contingent upon where you are financially.
Joe Budden
My kids selling the out of me. No, they.
Parks
Oh, not if they got money up, Especially Trey. That ain't beat for money.
Joe Budden
I don't know if it's. That's where we different. I don't know if it's a beat for money thing, but that's what y'all saying.
Parks
Y'all like, yo, immediately we're gonna throw the. I think Trey. I've known him since he was a kid. Trey don't really be phased by materialistic like that.
Joe Budden
I don't think it's necessarily a money play. When my grandma died and she gave me whatever she gave me in Campbell's soup, it made sense and it was a good investment. Get this shit the fuck out of here. If you don't give me my seven grand, whatever the fuck it was worth.
Parks
When was this?
Joe Budden
My grandma died. I want to say 2011.
Parks
What was your financial?
Joe Budden
2010.
Parks
Today. You don't sell it today. Now, that's my point.
Joe Budden
Today. Now.
Parks
Today. You don't sell it today.
Joe Budden
You keep the super. I add on to that.
Parks
Yeah. Today you get. Get some more alphabets in the soup.
Joe Budden
I'll add on to that camera.
Parks
Add a little more noodles. That's what I'm saying.
Joe Budden
I don't know if they're doing good.
Flip
Today, but they do have a point Ish. You hear the stories about when a parent pass away children sell off their assets.
Joe Budden
True.
Flip
It's kiss them do it. This is why a lot of people put things in place where they can't sell it.
Mal
True.
Flip
My father put in place some shit like, yo, nah, you and your brother.
Parks
No skits.
Flip
No, not at all. You can't sell this. It needs to go down. I didn't even know that was possible. But at the time I didn't know it was possible.
Joe Budden
Now, have you evaluate. Have you had an evaluation done on your ips?
Flip
Are you trying to be funny?
Joe Budden
No, no.
Parks
That's a real conversation.
Flip
No, you should.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Parks
How much is your worth? I said it last week. It's all right though. I was in the ballpark.
Flip
What is ip?
Parks
Intellectual property.
Joe Budden
What do you mean? What do you mean? What is it?
Flip
Look, let's engage in this all the.
Joe Budden
You ever came up with.
Flip
I have no, I haven't had any. I haven't had it evaluated.
Joe Budden
No, I didn't think that you would. Because we don't behave that way when as the living.
Flip
I'm learning now.
Joe Budden
You should.
Mal
You should.
Joe Budden
It's like think of the artist that is selling a catalog.
Flip
I got it.
Joe Budden
Right. Like it has to be evaluated. Let me see what my catalog is worth just so I can know. You don't even have to worry over the next. Over the next 10, 20 years. Years when it'll be at its peak value.
Parks
Like, see, I'm mad at that because I think I'm not. Because it's not my wheelhouse. I think you could borrow against that catalog as opposed to selling it. And I'm always a fan of that. I'm always opposed. I'm always a fan of keeping the asset, borrowing against the asset, generating more wealth with the borrowed money and giving it back. So now I just have way more assets. Assets. As opposed to selling the asset. Like if you could sell it for 125, I could borrow 50 against it. Take the 50 and make it work. I still got the catalog and more.
Mal
And you can pay back.
Parks
I'm always a fan of that.
Mal
Yeah. That's a level of financial sophistication. Right. And a desire to grow financially. A lot of these wealthy kids, like, they just want to spend. They just want to spend. They just want to spend the rest of their life spending money.
Parks
And they like to think about after them.
Mal
Yeah.
Flip
You had your IPs evaluated, right?
Parks
Yeah. It ain't a hard question. Yes.
Mal
That slow ass answer, right? Yes.
Flip
I just think it's dope.
Joe Budden
You gotta do that for the estate planner.
Flip
No, yeah, I understand. Yeah, I'm learning.
Mal
Do you got wills and insurance and.
Joe Budden
Stuff like that and everybody.
Flip
No, I don't. No, I have insurance again, I want.
Joe Budden
To urge everybody to get into their estate planning too.
Mal
Everybody.
Joe Budden
Yeah, estate planning. What's the shit? My dad be preaching your PSA number for the cancer shit. What else? What male be preaching health checks?
Melissa
Yo, listen, Real screening.
Flip
The audience up here that listens to this is too smart for me, for my good. And I say that to say to go back around. Because when I say I'm learning in real time, they have a problem with that. Oh, nigga, you old.
Melissa
I think that that's one of the greatest.
Parks
I think that's amazing.
Flip
I'm so comfortable in my skin.
Joe Budden
Oh, geez.
Flip
Hold on. I'm comfortable in my skin to know that a lot of times in my life, I just wasn't into certain things.
Melissa
No, but no. Sometimes coming up here.
Flip
I'm sorry.
Melissa
Sometimes your circle exposes you to things that you would have never been exposed to.
Flip
My mom was only. And I'm not trying to make it by myself. They don't like that neither. My mom was only.
Joe Budden
Holy shit. You learned that.
Flip
I gotta get to the. Fuck that now. I'll stay on it. Stop. I gotta get to the bag. I came from nothing. I was poor, and I don't want to be poor again. So if I could get 15,000 from doing this, if I get 9,000 thousand from doing a minute, Let me see how much I can get in the time. And then, you know your lifestyle, you start spending more. So coming up here is just learning different things about how to navigate through the world of media, you know what I'm saying? And people don't understand that. Like, when you.
Joe Budden
When you.
Flip
When you. It's. That's why I understand the story. Sometimes when is say, like, it's predatory sometimes to give somebody out the hood a big contract. The same thing. Like, if you don't have the information, it's not predatory, but it's crazy.
Joe Budden
If it's setting them up, don't give it right back.
Flip
If I started YouTube, look at my account. And within that year, I had nothing. I'm living in my mom's basement. Nothing. And then now, at the end of the year, I have 70,000, and it's like, okay, there's something here. So now you're seeing how you could double it without the knowledge or the education. So then you seclude yourself from the rest of the world. I don't know about the podcasts and financial shit. I don't know about that.
Joe Budden
I just thought a man named and be at Invest Fest every year. The billionaire black dude. Robert.
Melissa
Robert Smith.
Joe Budden
Robert Smith. I seen a clip with him yesterday. He was like, don't y'all know the word capital? The root word capital is Latin and it means information. I was like, oh, shit, he cooking now.
Flip
I think that we frown upon people learning.
Joe Budden
Nah, he was going crazy.
Parks
And you know what? And they demonize it.
Flip
I think we frown upon people learning in real time or teaching in real time. I think everybody wants to come off as this knowledgeable person. I think is whack. I think that the vulnerability is.
Parks
Is a strong vulnerability, bro.
Flip
Well, to me.
Parks
But I'm telling you, it's not a vulnerability for you not to know something.
Flip
And openly how many people say.
Mal
But you're being vulnerable to say how.
Flip
Many people say it publicly. They don't want to know everything. But when y'all be talking, I write my notes, I go home.
Parks
Like, oh, vulnerability. I love to hear them talk. Like, again, getting certain people. Dame50 Jay, even Irv rest in peace. A lot of times when talk, they'll be saying some. And you be like, yeah, like flip saying, you, you, you, Robert Smith. Don Peoples them be talking that you'd.
Joe Budden
Be like, oh, okay, yeah, you know what you're supposed to know.
Ish
Huh?
Flip
What does that mean?
Parks
I disagree. Yeah, I totally disagree with that. Yeah, I totally disagree.
Mal
What does that mean?
Flip
His mind is so crazy. Like.
Joe Budden
It means that the world is designed and there's levels in it, right? So we look at the nycha, the niggas that's in the Nycha apartment housing in. In New York. Like, there's certain sectors of the world that they're not going to allow you to have.
Mal
I see what you mean. Yeah.
Joe Budden
Access to. And as you. You progress and as you get the tools to level up, there will always be levels above you that you have no knowledge on at all. You know what you're supposed to know for where you are in that moment in time for what you make for all of our paths. Right? Like sometimes in the morning, I stand on my balcony and I'll stare over at Billionaires Row and just be like, how?
Parks
Like, you don't ask yourself how.
Joe Budden
Not really the how. Right.
Parks
But.
Joe Budden
It'S not for me right now. Right. Whatever that is for that point of view, even though it's not far from here. Right. Like I've said before, where I live, I could step on the balcony and see Spanish Harlem from right here, we can see Spanish Harlem. We're probably across from. From Harlem. Right. But the people over there, as close as it is in proximity, it's a different pov.
Melissa
But billionaires grow. Is a lot of generational wealth. Like that's pretty much all it is.
Joe Budden
I don't. I don't assume that.
Parks
I don't assume that neither.
Joe Budden
I don't assume.
Parks
Not today.
Joe Budden
Not today.
Parks
There's people.
Joe Budden
There's people out there.
Parks
Too much tech money today. And a lot of them didn't come for money.
Melissa
But the majority. I would. I would say that the majority of the population of billionaires row is. It's not new money. It is generational wealth.
Parks
So do you think.
Flip
Sorry. I'm sorry.
Parks
So when people categorize, they call this right here the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast, Right. So they say all this is new money. They refer to all of us as new money. Like, this is new money. And the Edgewater, Fort Lee Weehawken area, we've been here for 20 years. Fifteen minutes away from here, niggas didn't know this shit existed. Yeah, literally 15 minutes away from here, People did not know that this shit existed. This used to be my date spot. And people that live 10, 15 minutes from here didn't know it existed.
Joe Budden
Rest in peace. To the multiplex. Are you talking about.
Parks
So I think that when Joe. See, I agree. I disagree with Joe when he be like, yo, you need. Because I think if you don't put information in your brain, you become complacent and you'll never scale up.
Flip
Do you think that it's designed for us to be comfortable in whatever situation that we're in?
Melissa
Thousand percent, yes.
Flip
Because it's like, you hear the rare story. It's a rarity for someone to say that's not really rare. But I want to go out and find more information. So I'm going to take the steps by spending my last to find it. If I have to lose this, this apartment or lose my apartment and I seen somebody in Nycha, I wanna go out there and find the information. If I have to struggle to find it so I can go to the next level. But a lot of people don't wanna take that chance.
Parks
I don't think it's designed like that. I think complacent and comfortability is just a human thing.
Flip
But why would you think it's designed like that? If you're staying in the project, building rent is cheap. You're able to. You get no disrespect. To anyone. You're able to get food stamps and then the money that you make from work or on the side, you pocket it and could fund your lifestyle that you're trying to show the world that's comfortability. I don't have to do that much. I could stay in here. I'm not willing to learn anything. There's a process on how I'm achieving it and I'm getting it. You understand what I mean?
Parks
Yeah, I do. I think that growth is uncomfortable. I think people only grow when there's uncomfortability. That's one. So were things designed to keep us in a certain space? Yes, but I don't think that those designs Today a library card is free because you like people give their last. So information is around you free. We got the Internet. We look at bitches all day on the gram. We look at our what you call it Page. Yeah. All at the for you page. And all of that shit is based on what you. You spend your time watching. If you start watching financial shit, it's gonna keep feeding you financial. That is free. A lot of times escaping these traps is free. So I don't think that maybe it was designed in yesteryear to trap us. Yes. But today I just think become.
Melissa
But the trap is inside your mind. Like you have to have the. Where you have the. Have to have the wherewithal to seek that information and also to try to seek different relationships. Like if you're the smartest one in your circle of five, then you need a new circle.
Parks
So me and jokes then me, Joe and Corey stand on total opposites. This is one of our biggest fights. We stand on total opposites. I believe that they believe that people got their foot on your neck. I totally am against that theory. Right. I believe that if you want to grow and if you want to succeed, you can. I don't believe that nobody can stop you from becoming Robert Smith.
Joe Budden
I hate when you do that.
Flip
I do.
Joe Budden
I hate when you do that though.
Flip
Because I'm on both sides.
Joe Budden
One don't the gate dollar.
Flip
Yeah, but yeah.
Parks
Are you saying that they stopping you from doing something?
Joe Budden
No, no, no, no, no. See, but that's you misinterpreting what we'd be saying. We don't be saying people are stopping us from doing something. We, not you. Never.
Flip
They just put. They just put certain things in place to protect you.
Joe Budden
From where? All of the obstacles that are in place for me versus someone else. They don't say it's impossible. I'm Not. I'm never preaching that message.
Flip
What if somebody put an obstacle in front of you and this is your dream. Right. If we talk about, from the media game, what if it's like, you have all the qualifications, the people are interested in you, the person's interested in you to do something, and then somebody who was higher or in the same field that you in put an obstacle in front of you to prevent you from getting that. They just throw a monkey wrench.
Parks
What's my course of action?
Flip
Your course of action is to either go somewhere else or find another way through it. But what if the obstacle is. So there's a lot of times you hear people in the media game, it's called blackballing and gatekeeping. That is real.
Mal
Oh, yeah.
Flip
That is a real thing. They can stop, like, you right there. You can have the conversation. And this is why they say from a kid, don't share all your information until the deal is signed or don't, or whatever that slogan is. But people put up roadblocks.
Joe Budden
Ish.
Flip
And then now what do you do? Do you change your course of action? Do you go into a new field?
Parks
I got two names, jay Z and 50 Cent. 50 Cent got blackballed, okay? The niggas that was blackballing him admitted numerous times, yes, I was blackballing purposefully. 50 Cent is worth a couple hundred million dollars.
Flip
Yes.
Parks
So either you gonna circumvent the black ball, you're gonna keep trying, you're gonna go through it, whatever the case may be. But I believe if you got persistence.
Flip
You could get on. But 50 Cent was blackballed. No disrespect. 50 Cent was blackballed. Not by someone in that office, not.
Parks
By a. Irv was in those offices.
Mal
Yeah, Irv told me that Direct Irv.
Parks
Was in those offices and had their ear. Ja Rule was as hot as fish.
Joe Budden
Flip Flip is saying thank you. 50 is blackballed in one little corner, in one sector.
Mal
Oh, I see what you're saying.
Joe Budden
You know what I'm saying. The foot on neck theory that we talking about speaks to systemically abroad. Not just one aspect of something cool.
Parks
But at that particular point in time, that was his world. That was the only world that he knew that he could get.
Mal
He wasn't gonna go make TV shows.
Parks
Yeah.
Joe Budden
He wasn't gonna go write a book.
Parks
Like in 2001. 2002, 2003. This is his world. You understand what I'm saying? Like, this is the world that I know that could get me out the jungle of Queens. That I could go to put some food on the table for my family.
Joe Budden
And that's back to my point. Because that was his world and he was a megastar in his world. He gained an access and was privy to things and people and info and resources and networks that other people are not. Not because he's a genius. Post blackball, he took that.
Parks
That wasn't pre black ball. He gained that access after he fought.
Mal
Through The Ball mixtape 50 Before Get Rich comes out.
Joe Budden
That little music. Black ball is a dot on the.
Parks
Piece of paper now. But he still had to fight. It wasn't a dot then, Joe. That was a circle he was fighting his ass off to get through.
Joe Budden
If that's the only world you. I think that he is greater than that and saw more than that. If that's the only world you could see, then yes, that black ball is insurmountable.
Parks
But he still had to get through that black ball. He made it in that world. The world where they tried to blackball him in. He didn't go somewhere else.
Joe Budden
You got the clue to get to the next clue. We gonna do the escape room. Some of them clues, you'll get to one early. You can't do that until you figured out the other clues that line up to that clue.
Parks
We know the story. Yeah, the 50 Cent story. And was listening to the mixtape on the airplane. Yeah, it just landed in his lap. Whatever the case may be. From what I heard, I might be wrong, but, dog, again, that's just me. Keep making mixtapes, I ain't say, yo, these is blackballing me. I'mma quit. I'mma keep doing what I'm doing and doing what I'm doing and doing what I'm doing. I'm going to be resilient. I'm going to be persistent. I'm going not take no for an answer.
Mal
I think that's where. Oh, go ahead.
Flip
Sorry. I'm so sorry. No, go ahead, bro. You got blackballed from the industry, but then you captured the air of the streets, so. Right. So when you capture the air of the streets, the noise from the public overrides it. Overrides it. And on top of that, not include of getting shot nine times, surviving. Like it's so many things that happen in that situation that played in all.
Parks
Are based in persistence and resiliency.
Mal
That's amazing to me. The systemic stuff so important to acknowledge because part of it is there's roadblocks and then part of it is figuring out how to get around those roadblocks. But part of it is if you've been come. If you come up in a system where you're not even given permission to think about those alternatives as real, that's what makes it difficult. I'll use myself as example. I'll use myself as an example. Then, like, even at this stage in my career or earlier in my career, it was like, get a TV show. Get a TV show host. A TV show host. A TV show. And it wasn't until I got lucky and got to a better agency wme that they were like, why the fuck do you keep trying to get hired as our TV host? Why don't you make a show? Like, why don't you create a show? But that wasn't something that I even knew was a possibility. But in that case, it wouldn't have been a lack of persistence. It wasn't like I was afraid to get a show or didn't. I didn't know that that was a thing. I didn't know that was a thing you could do. But other people are taught from day one, go make your own shit.
Joe Budden
True.
Mal
You know what I mean? And then I meet people like Joe and stuff, and it's like, oh, wait, why the fuck do you need a TV network? Fuck tv. Right? But there are people who are miles ahead of this who I don't get to meet because I don't have access to that information.
Parks
But I think that's life.
Mal
Yeah, but I think it's designed.
Joe Budden
It's life for everybody.
Mal
It's organized that way. So some people do know that stuff and other people don't.
Flip
Mark, would you say when you got black. Cause you was a black ball from television?
Mal
Still am.
Flip
What did you say when you got blackballed to that you had no other choice but to pursue other options?
Mal
I already had four or five other things going. I still sold books, I still spoke on the street, But I still can't get on tv.
Flip
You know what I mean?
Mal
There's a war in the Middle east, and I'm one of the leading experts on this topic. And I can't get on TV about it.
Melissa
This is complete sidebar. I'm sorry, but I really actually wanted to. Like when we were talking about Oscars, you saw what the documentary was. Yeah, that won. So it was a Palestinian and an Israeli director. Yeah, director who kind of came together and they're winning the Oscar for this documentary.
Mal
And you know why you all haven't seen it? Cause it's not distributed anywhere. It's not on Apple tv, It's not on Amazon. It's not on Netflix.
Joe Budden
With all due respect, that's important. I don't want to take away from where Mark was going somewhere.
Parks
He was going somewhere.
Melissa
Okay, yeah. Put a pin in that.
Mal
I'm sorry. Yeah. I had other ways to go because I was already far enough along. But if that had happened as if that was my entry point into this business, if that had happened in 2005, I wouldn't be doing anything.
Parks
I wouldn't know me.
Mal
I'd be teaching public school, which is. Which is a great thing that depend.
Parks
On the person, though, bro. Because sometimes people get that roadblock in front of them and say, yo, I'm determined. I'm gonna make this regardless. All right, cool. Y'all not letting me get in over here. I'm gonna make y'all want me in.
Mal
This is the only thing I say in response. Yes, that's true. I just don't want. I think the danger of that approach is just that it means that anybody who doesn't get where 50 gets or anybody who doesn't get to his other place, we see it as a lack of determination or a failure to persist. And that's my only problem with that. And we don't look to the system that makes that impossible. For most, 50 Cent is a genius. Yeah. I don't look at every blind southern Jim Crow Negro and be like, why don't you beat Ray Charles? Right? Even if you're decent at the pin, you have to be so extraordinary to get past some of this stuff. And I don't look at everybody who didn't, like, why the. You ain't just do a Rachel.
Joe Budden
It's.
Melissa
It's almost like the idea that the. That if you don't reach the pinnacle of. Of success as a black person, then you failed.
Mal
Right?
Melissa
Like, that's all we have. It's either or. And it's like, I. I agree with you.
Mal
Because you have to be such a giant.
Melissa
It's a dangerous sentiment to clear it. Yeah, Right.
Flip
Perseverance comes with, like, no. And it's gonna sound crazy. You end up draining yourself out in the long run. Right? So while we're talking about this, and it's good to be, you know, to go out and get it. Because I agree with Ish. No one can stop anything. I'm gonna go get it. But when you sit down with yourself and you have to analyze that, it's. It's causing a wear and tear on you mentally and physically.
Parks
Emotionally. Absolutely.
Flip
Emotionally. Now you're trying to question things. Why is it like that. What did I do wrong? What can I do better? So, yeah, it's good to persevere, but. But sometimes you have to take a chance. And.
Joe Budden
And.
Flip
And that's it. I leave it at that for me.
Joe Budden
Oh, don't end it. When I'm about to pull up a song to clown you.
Flip
Nah, you can't do that.
Joe Budden
I'm about to say y'all kept going. Being motivational. I was going to pull up a song.
Flip
Can't do that.
Joe Budden
That was fire. I appreciate that.
Flip
Teamwork.
Joe Budden
Absolutely. Fire. You good? You cold? You all right?
Melissa
Yes, I'm. I'm cold.
Joe Budden
The air in here, they be doing some weird shit where they put it on.
Melissa
It was at 68 five minutes ago.
Parks
Your blood's start flowing slower when you get old, right?
Joe Budden
I don't know.
Melissa
You telling me you older than me? You need to keep that elevated.
Flip
I do.
Melissa
Somebody get him a foot stool.
Joe Budden
I'm not even playing with Mel like that no more. I'm not playing with Mel like that no more. And you get a salute. You get a salute from me.
Melissa
Thank you.
Flip
Me too.
Joe Budden
That what the dedication and that you put into your health in your body. I. I ain't joking.
Parks
No, that is different.
Joe Budden
You know, you do it for different reasons.
Parks
No. You know, Corey be on his muscles. Yeah.
Ish
The cardio is different.
Parks
Cardio. Mr. Squat.
Joe Budden
Go ahead. Over there. I was trying to post Corey up. Feel some body that wouldn't let me feel it. Pause.
Ish
Yeah.
Joe Budden
Kept backing up, trying to pull the chair from under me. Get over here. You know, I need to feel some body. Get your little athletic ass over here.
Parks
Yo, you a fool.
Joe Budden
Wait, what he say?
Mal
Ice looks disgusted.
Joe Budden
I need to feel some body on the post.
Parks
On the post.
Joe Budden
On the post. Oh, man, I'm going know where I'm going if I don't feel your body.
Flip
You know, that's why Imani was trying to kill you.
Joe Budden
Man, Imani tried to injure me for good. I don't know what I did to him. I thought that was my. I thought that was one of my better mans.
Parks
But ego, he just knows that you're.
Ish
You're an aggressive basketball player. So he's trying to meet your aggression, cuz.
Parks
Yo, you really. Yo, Imani called the offensive foul on screen.
Mal
What?
Parks
Off ball.
Mal
And I rolled with him, too. I was like, yep.
Parks
Y.
Joe Budden
Off the front. He was fronting me.
Flip
He was fronting.
Joe Budden
He was fronting me. They threw it over the top. I caught. He caught off on the front. Yo, I never seen such a.
Mal
And Pick up basketball.
Joe Budden
What a. And big up ball.
Flip
Yeah, my man got the tattoo of the.
Joe Budden
Of the mic of his name.
Flip
Yeah, he got his whole. He got a whole those type of mic was that again.
Joe Budden
Amani played like a Puerto Rican. The Puerto Ricans that got all the energy and want to come out and run around and hit you and do.
Flip
All that money was wilding, bro.
Joe Budden
Yeah, you're not invited next time. I ain't going to lie.
Flip
Yeah, he did good though.
Parks
Spanish do burpees all.
Joe Budden
And then my guy D did came over to me in the second game, whispered to me, said, yo, we need you. Don't stick him. He's just running around. Save your energy.
Parks
I said, oh, that's a good idea.
Joe Budden
I took Corey. Corey wasn't doing shit.
Mal
That's why I got Corey the first game.
Parks
Mark sticks Cory the first game. So they could double.
Mal
Yeah, that's what I was.
Parks
And I'm like, corey, cut to the basket.
Mal
I was like, Corey's like, I ain't going nowhere.
Parks
Corey right on the three point line.
Joe Budden
Like then when I was thinking. Then when I was thinking Parks, I was in a good mood. Cuz we both smokers. It's like, all right. And then Parks got hurt. It's like, oh, no.
Flip
Put the young boy Thompson, 22 year.
Joe Budden
Old, came in 24.
Mal
24 young boy, 6, 3 from the Indian reservation.
Flip
Yeah, yeah, good.
Joe Budden
Head him stocky out of here.
Mal
I was like, I'm just gonna keep falling.
Joe Budden
No, he was with Erickson. Erickson, man, I was watching him in the pre game. He's making drills and right. I said, oh, you play Juco?
Parks
Eric's the other man. Six, seven jumpers.
Joe Budden
Julian.
Parks
Yeah, Julian, Yeah, Julian, Yeah, I played.
Joe Budden
Oh, he wore ringers.
Parks
Yeah, yeah, I played. Nia.
Joe Budden
You know, next time we do this, the people I invite to be subs are gonna be like people that play basketball.
Mal
Yeah, right.
Joe Budden
Not us who had no business out there.
Ish
Oh, no, I think we gotta have non athletic gray hairs.
Mal
It gotta be all the things, right?
Flip
You can make a thing out of this.
Joe Budden
No, we just got to do it like we told Buck. Yo, we're not doing that.
Parks
And Buck was holding.
Mal
He was holding back for sure.
Parks
He shot a couple jumpers. But Adam shit's hitting that.
Joe Budden
We had point game. We. I'm out there dying, Buck. Grab a rebound right under the rim. Don't put it up. I said, buck, just in this game. In this game. Yo, enough of that being modest.
Parks
Just put it in, dog. Point gain. Game took like 30 minutes.
Joe Budden
It did that game took mad long?
Ish
It probably was realistically only six minutes, but it felt like 30.
Parks
It was a long ass time. It was 115 for like.
Joe Budden
Oh, man, the things that they're gonna say about us when. When this is public.
Parks
Oh my God, they're gonna kill us.
Ish
It's gonna be hilarious.
Parks
See, you know what? They gonna kill me and Mark probably the most.
Joe Budden
Oh, please, me too.
Parks
No, because I told emotional you were scoring.
Joe Budden
I was pregnant.
Parks
You was, but you were scoring.
Joe Budden
I was pregnant out there.
Parks
You scored all the points.
Joe Budden
Don't matter.
Mal
Matter.
Parks
No, it matters.
Joe Budden
Look at me.
Parks
How did I need to know how you did? Because you was talking a lot of.
Mal
Actually, I wasn't talking a lot of, but I was responding.
Parks
You're the reason this is happening.
Mal
No, no, that's not what happened, but I'll let that go. It started with me and Ish saying something and he said, y'all two can't play no ball. Let's go play ball.
Joe Budden
That's how it started.
Parks
Right? But you was talking a lot of about, you were talking a lot of shit.
Mal
I'm just. I didn't start this, but it's fine.
Flip
I think that Joe, you could make this a thing, yo.
Parks
No, honestly, I wish. I really wish I came out like it was. I would have really been ready to go out there in two weeks.
Mal
Yeah, I mean, I'm playing, I'm ready. I just need to work summer breaks.
Joe Budden
What I did think about was bringing back the kickball tournaments.
Parks
Yes.
Joe Budden
Like back in the day, during the summer, I used to wake up at like 8 and tweet a park, yo, meet here at noon kickball. And all the fans would come. She was lit.
Mal
That sound like fun?
Joe Budden
Shit was lit. Kickball is fun.
Parks
Kickball was the shit.
Ish
Hurt yourself playing that now too.
Joe Budden
You don't have to kickball. You don't have to be Kobe Bryant in the kickball. Like you could play at your physicality.
Ish
My man was training for the marathon. He tore his calf playing. It was either baseball or kickball softball. One of them shits hit the base.
Parks
The kickball was only lit when the yamin showed up. Hey, hey, hey, yo, can you. I'm on them first kickball games.
Joe Budden
That's not true.
Parks
That's not true. You wasn't around for the first ones. Them first kickball games.
Joe Budden
Kickball is fun. Whether the Yamins or the non ya means. Actually my favorite kickball is when one of them fucking six, four fucking. I forgot what he was. Would show up and we would pick him on our team. It's like I was looking for him every kickball match. Like, nigga, come outside.
Parks
Brian Grant beaming in the head.
Joe Budden
Yeah, exactly.
Parks
Real athletes.
Joe Budden
At home and think that your days, like, meeting women is over.
Parks
Yes. Long gone. Every day I just scroll Instagram.
Joe Budden
That's it.
Parks
I like looking at them, though. That's addicted.
Joe Budden
See, I don't even do that no more.
Mal
I don't do that.
Parks
No, no.
Joe Budden
I love them. I'm done with Instagram. They all liars.
Parks
I don't care.
Joe Budden
They all lie.
Parks
I'm not trying to talk. I'm not getting.
Mal
Yeah, I don't care.
Parks
I'm just looking.
Melissa
I think it means the picture is a lie.
Parks
I don't care.
Melissa
I don't care.
Parks
Hey, she a liar in the club, too. Good point.
Joe Budden
I'm a liar in the club and I don't care.
Parks
As long as them heels don't. You know what I mean? Toes don't come over the hill.
Flip
I'm good.
Parks
That's my turn off. Damn, you bad with them little ass shoes on.
Flip
Yeah, I like get off my feet. I don't like that neither. This should be sliding.
Parks
I don't like that off my feet. As far the whole picture, dumbass.
Flip
You're right.
Joe Budden
This really will zoom in on the feet on anything. Bad as hell.
Mal
I do that too, though. I do the zoom in.
Joe Budden
You a feet got.
Mal
Yeah, yeah, it's important.
Joe Budden
What?
Mal
It's important.
Parks
I don't even knowing they had a feet.
Joe Budden
Yo, you know what I was laughing at?
Mal
I have a memory all day. With respect.
Joe Budden
With respect. I was telling my girl, I said, yo, man, now that I met Mark wife, I'ma ask that nigga to do pod wise like she's a professor. Mad smart, mad cool, mad funny sense of humor. Fucking got along with everybody. I was like, yo, I don't know why we always make it seem like our girl at home is the ball and chain. Even though they be cool.
Mal
I never said she was. That's what y'all always say.
Joe Budden
We get around our nigga. No, you say y'all say that, dog. Yo, girls is cool. We talk like we got to get the away from them.
Parks
We do.
Joe Budden
Why do we do that? That's part of that ego. Just. No, I think pride painting a picture thing, it's something is there.
Parks
Yo, niggas definitely do it, though.
Joe Budden
I think he. Mark took a break to go kiss his wife. He said he had an eye injury.
Parks
Yeah, he did.
Joe Budden
Mark ran to the side and got some sugar.
Parks
No, that made her Feel better. Something in my eye. I went there, I said, yeah, old age.
Mal
I had a few fake injuries to just catch my breath.
Parks
Don't say nothing. Yo, this couch feel like heaven.
Mal
I tried to guard a money. Full court.
Parks
Yeah, that looked like a jumping bean. But y'all playing full court.
Joe Budden
No, I have.
Mal
I'm saying I picked like we. No, no, no. I picked him up.
Parks
Mark got an ego. Mark got a ego. And Mark is my.
Joe Budden
That's what started this.
Parks
I'm telling you. He called himself. When the touch ball picking Imani up 94ft up there by the half court line.
Joe Budden
The very next play, I think was.
Mal
I was done. That was all my energy for the.
Parks
Rest of the day. Yo, he was finished.
Mal
I was done. For the next five.
Joe Budden
Done.
Parks
I was hollering like, yo, that's all I had.
Mal
Then you start thinking like, my 20s, I could do this every possession. Now I can't do that. I can do that once. Once a day.
Joe Budden
I have. I do have a bit of bad news to report. They are reporting that Raphael Sadiq's brother, Dwayne Wiggins, of Tony Tony Tony is receiving hospice. Y'all know Dwayne?
Parks
Dwayne, yeah, know Dwayne. None of them name was Tony.
Mal
Right?
Parks
That was one of the funny things with the right.
Joe Budden
God.
Mal
Oh, my. This is that. This is that other age, man. We was young. Our favorites got, like, killed in gunfire and random. Now they die from, like, health.
Parks
Yeah, bro, we old.
Mal
Damn. Send strength to them. To Raphael, Sadiq and the rest of them. Yeah.
Joe Budden
I was heading bed last night. Crisscross applesauce. Told my. I can't believe I'mma die one day. I'm still not over the concert.
Parks
That, bro.
Joe Budden
I just don't want it to hurt.
Flip
He's right.
Parks
Now, you know what?
Joe Budden
I don't want it to hurt.
Parks
Know what I'll be looking at?
Flip
Say the same.
Parks
My daughter. When I be looking at my daughter, I'd be like, damn, it's got to live. Yeah, I got.
Joe Budden
It's a.
Parks
It's a point where I could possibly not be here.
Joe Budden
I think the opposite.
Parks
Me up.
Mal
And you got young kids.
Joe Budden
Yeah. The kids make you think you got to live or that you got to die.
Parks
Live, live, live. Especially what I. What I saw, like, with my uncle. That pass passed.
Joe Budden
Interesting.
Parks
When his daughter was 10 months old and he dies. Yeah. Why you think that?
Joe Budden
Because that's what it means.
Melissa
Cycle of life.
Joe Budden
It don't mean you gotta live. Means you gotta die.
Parks
No, no, no.
Joe Budden
Constant reminder.
Parks
It means I have to live for.
Mal
Focus on your health.
Parks
I have to. I gotta let my daughters know what.
Joe Budden
These niggas be doing. Unnecessary stress. If I shoot the club up tomorrow and have a beautiful, beautiful child tomorrow at 44, probability says I may not see that child hit 35. Yeah, that's true. I'm not stressing myself with so now, damn, I won't see my child.
Parks
No, no, no, no. I could be cool at 35.
Joe Budden
You want to be. I know. I think what you're saying is you want to be here for as long as you can with your kids.
Parks
No. And you want to maximize that time that you are here with them. That's what I just said. What if you got. Look, but look, If I got 35 years out of it.
Joe Budden
Oh, quality of life you're talking about. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Yeah, got it. I understand what you're saying.
Parks
And not. Not for nothing, this only been three days. It resonated.
Joe Budden
What has only been.
Parks
They can't. Injury. No, the injury. I'm saying the injury has only been three days. So, dog, every morning we got like a routine. So my girl wakes up earlier than me. My girl goes downstairs, take a shower.
Joe Budden
Let your girl wake up before you.
Parks
Go to bed at like 2, 3 o'clock every day.
Joe Budden
I'm getting to bed.
Parks
But anyway, right, so you go to bed at 9:00. I'm doing paperwork at 9:00. Anyway, yo, listen, let me finish my story. So my girl wakes up, she goes cooks lunch. My job is to bring my daughter downstairs, start getting a dress. My foot is fucked up. So I couldn't. You know what I'm saying? I couldn't do that. So it was like, damn small shit like that that you might take for granted. Now I can't do it. So now me getting injured puts more stress on my girl to have to do all of that shit for my daughter. And I was like, damn, I apologize like 50 times. Yeah, yo, my bad, I'm sorry. Thinking I'm fucking Superman.
Mal
I got some injured and that's that.
Ish
Middle aged off my injury, Huh? I said I got some breakfast in bed off my injury.
Flip
I was like.
Joe Budden
So.
Parks
Nah, like small like that. Yo, you just like, yo, you gotta kinda be here for your kid. 35. If I get 35, I've given you enough game.
Joe Budden
Come on, you.
Mal
That's how I feel about my older.
Parks
If my daughter gets the 35, both of them, I've given them enough game that I could possibly give them. Atlantic City trip is not worth no coochie.
Flip
I don't know what that means.
Joe Budden
It's a joke.
Parks
You ain't ever seen a meme?
Joe Budden
No.
Parks
They'd be like, yo, I'm taking my kids around the world. I understand your little dusty ass son. Can't take her to Atlantic City and get no cool. You never seen them either.
Joe Budden
I just shut up when you Girl dads get to talking.
Flip
I mean, sometimes when I lay down, I think I'm like, damn, One day.
Joe Budden
Yeah, no. Cause I never. Nope.
Mal
No.
Joe Budden
No comment.
Flip
I think we don't never hear that.
Joe Budden
Side of the girl that. Nah, that's true. It ain't worth it. Girl. Don't go.
Flip
I be thinking that one day I'm not gonna be here.
Parks
You hear the other side? Yeah.
Joe Budden
It's because for all the bitches y'all slid.
Parks
Mm. Mm.
Joe Budden
For all the lies that you've told.
Parks
Mm.
Joe Budden
For all the tricks, the maneuvers.
Parks
Mm.
Joe Budden
Late night runs.
Parks
Ask me how many of em dad was there for.
Joe Budden
Ooh, did I didn't.
Parks
I said. You asking me how many of them dad was there for?
Joe Budden
No, I didn't ask you that at all.
Parks
Oh, okay.
Joe Budden
I just say when you take it all into account.
Flip
So you trying to say it's gonna happen back to our children.
Joe Budden
Wait, hold up. For all of the tricks you've. You've done. And at this present point in time and with the universe and the planets align. Y'all doing great. Like, y'all don't think God is spending at no time. No. Got it.
Parks
Nope. I don't think.
Flip
Like Karma. Karma. Yeah. Out of here. Nobody.
Parks
Let me ask you a question. So you think that.
Mal
My daughter's going to be a Harris?
Parks
Don't think that neither.
Flip
He gonna laugh loud.
Joe Budden
Let him do it.
Parks
Yeah, go play something.
Joe Budden
That's.
Flip
Why would you think.
Joe Budden
And the future. Thugs.
Flip
Chill out.
Mal
Why would you think kids. At best.
Joe Budden
Oh, my God.
Flip
Nobody wants their daughter to deal with a like.
Mal
Like.
Flip
I wouldn't want my daughter to deal with a like me. I try to prevent her from dealing with a like me.
Melissa
That is a revelation. That's.
Flip
I don't want to do that. I want.
Mal
Because she deserves better.
Flip
Well, I'm a better father because, you.
Melissa
Know, we do go for men that remind us of our father.
Flip
Yeah, I don't want that. I don't want that.
Parks
She's not going. His daughter don't see that side of.
Flip
Him, so I tried to.
Melissa
Who knows what she's seen?
Flip
Well, she don't see that side of it.
Melissa
Who knows what she's seen? You'd be surprised the shit that kids see that you think you can see.
Parks
Cool.
Flip
But I put the best face on for my children. And I'm very upfront and I'm communicative. Yo, I was doing this shit at your age. Yo. Watch the boys that's trying to even ask you for anything. Watch them niggas. Cause this is what I was doing. I'm very straight up with her and I let her know. Cause if you participate in that, first of all, it's gonna make you look crazy. It's gonna break my heart. Two things I try to do. Manipulative things.
Mal
You hit the guilt.
Flip
You have to.
Mal
If I definitely tell my daughter.
Flip
Yo, yo, I was getting. I made a page on MySpace called Pops on Blast. That was all on like the.
Mal
I was doing Use Wilder. Okay.
Flip
Yeah. I was wilding. I don't want that my daughter to go through that. Play the music. You. But you have your daughter. I'mma you up. Wait till you have your daughter. You have twin girls. Twin Indian daughters.
Joe Budden
My papa told me not to that girl and still rules. That I should have. But I met that nigga in that car and he's so drunk he gonna be 54 with all the love from dad. But I left with this dude who was in his bag. And Papa tried to help, but I sucked his dick. Then I went home.
Mal
You can take him today, Flip. You can take him today, Flip.
Melissa
That was really good on the.
Mal
That's some solid freestyle, though.
Melissa
That was solid.
Mal
That's some solid freestyling right there.
Joe Budden
And he talking about.
Parks
I know who the he talking about. Get the out of here with that.
Flip
He ain't talking about my daughter.
Joe Budden
He is not talking about this one.
Parks
Say whatever the you want me at.
Joe Budden
Least let the hook get to it.
Flip
You gotta stop.
Joe Budden
But now, for real, what y'all think this song's about?
Parks
I don't know. I never heard it before.
Flip
We don't care, bro.
Joe Budden
Please. Hey, what you say to him? What you say to dad? My baby. She keeping that.
Mal
She keeping her baby dead ass.
Flip
Man, I love this. You joining this.
Melissa
Me and the 80s music. As soon as it plays the white 80s music. I can't help myself.
Mal
I'm. I'm going to be the adult in the room for a minute and say that we have created some tension in the room. How y'all seem bothered by this?
Parks
I don't give. I'm ignoring that.
Joe Budden
They ain't paying me no.
Mal
You look irritated. I was.
Flip
I'm ball.
Joe Budden
The Bunny family. He text his daughter and he Ain't pay me no, I'm not paying that no more.
Mal
Okay, then we good? All right.
Parks
Yeah, we're great. I promise.
Mal
I know. You looked irritated.
Flip
I am. Hey, listen, cuz, he be around my kids, he be around them. They come a bit.
Parks
That don't stop with girls.
Flip
It don't.
Parks
Family issues. Don't stop with girls.
Joe Budden
Clean it up.
Parks
Yeah, no, I'm telling you, like, that don't matter.
Mal
But you know what it is? A lot of times dudes be more hype about. Like, no dude that I know is that upset about their son getting in some wild shit the way they are.
Parks
Depending on wild shit got levels.
Mal
That's true, that's true.
Parks
Wild shit got levels.
Mal
But like, nobody's like, oh, my son's 15, eating pussy.
Joe Budden
Right?
Parks
Yes, I'm.
Mal
No, I'm just saying a lot of people don't talk. I'm not saying they right or wrong.
Parks
Your son 15, come home sucking dick, then what?
Mal
I mean, it wouldn't bother me.
Joe Budden
Fathers, do you always make it gay? We don't care.
Mal
No, if he's gay, we don't care.
Joe Budden
You ain't trying to make us transphobic. I mean, I'm not saying homophobic, but.
Flip
Nobody wants to think about their daughter being out there at 16, 17, 15, doing anything, nigga.
Joe Budden
So don't think about that.
Flip
No, but when you highlighting and play music and looking me in my eyes.
Mal
I think it was the freestyle. It was the pop freestyle.
Flip
The shit that you do this, you sell ass for this, for this, for the this, for your joint. The you do on this camera, I'mma get you.
Mal
I think it was a sucking his duff with the feathers.
Flip
I mean, it's entertaining, but in all reality. We know he don't feel this way in reality, but it's just.
Mal
No, he might, he might also.
Flip
I don't think so.
Joe Budden
While we talking about Madonna telling her dad that I don't think so, she wants to keep the baby. It's being reported and I say that loosely. Say cheese is reporting Anthony Edwards, I believe. Say cheese.
Mal
They don't be wrong a lot.
Joe Budden
He one of the ones I be believing. Anthony Edwards allegedly filed a motion claiming that he does not want visitation or custody of his four month old daughter with Aisha Howard.
Mal
That's rough.
Joe Budden
Where does everybody stand?
Mal
I a lot of feel that way. It just takes a special kind of person to write that on paper. Especially when the whole world gonna see it because your kid is gonna see that later too. That you didn't want that. Just do old School and don't show up. Just do like everybody else Old man did.
Joe Budden
Just.
Mal
I'll be there. 15.
Parks
I think he just got some growing.
Melissa
Up to do and he's gonna change his mind later.
Joe Budden
That's dismissive. Okay, now, I'm not saying it's not true, but it's dismissive of the. Let's pretend that we're talking about a man that's older than him. That's. That's vocalizing his non parental rights. That's saying, I'm signing over all parental rights to you. I told you, I want nothing to do with it. I really don't want anything to do with the child or you. I'm signing over my rights. Like, I think it's fucked up. I don't want to say that the person that feels that way has to grow up because it be mature men that feel like they're.
Parks
I don't think that's mature men. That's saying that. I don't care what age you are.
Joe Budden
Are.
Parks
I think if you. I mean, listen, we know how. We ain't stupid. We know how babies is made. And you put yourself into that. Now you have to deal with that. And if you choose to just walk away, I think that's some immature coward. That's my take. Nobody has to agree with that. But I feel differently about parenting. I. I think it's bigger than you. And then you made this child. You don't just get to walk away. The moms ain't just. She's stuck. She got it. She can't just say, never mind, I'm cool.
Mal
Yeah, she could right now.
Parks
No, the child ain't. The child here.
Melissa
Four months old.
Parks
Four months old.
Mal
Oh, I'm sorry. I'm thinking four months pregnant. Forgive me?
Parks
Yeah.
Mal
Got you. Yeah, she. I mean, she had a moment to make that choice, right? Yeah.
Joe Budden
She could still make that choice.
Mal
Yeah.
Joe Budden
Even with the child is. She can make that choice.
Mal
Adoption, foster, I got you.
Parks
That's. That's. Y'all, Y'all can.
Mal
No, no, I agree with you that I think it's. It's cowardly. I don't. I don't like the idea of abandoning your kids. I think no matter what the situations, you got to be there once the kid is here, you just gotta make that choice. But I agree with you that I don't think it's necessarily immaturity per se. I think just some people are fucked up people.
Joe Budden
Yeah. Some people just feel that way.
Mal
Yeah. And they just fucked up people. You know what I mean? You Know what I mean? Yeah.
Joe Budden
I don't know anybody else.
Melissa
My stance is same as ice. And last time we talked about this, this was my stance as well. Like, we brought up the whole topic of her keeping it. Knowing he has a track record. He has a track record of doing this. So I don't know. I feel like there was many conversations that should have taken place before this even happens. To avoid this or if she was.
Parks
Just looking for a lick. You hit the lick.
Flip
Cool.
Parks
You're gonna get the money from it. That's all. If that's all you wanted.
Melissa
That's true.
Parks
It's a win. Win. He don't want nothing to do with you or the child. He just want to be their financial. You might not just want this. You just want the money now. I don't know.
Joe Budden
You text me, though, if in month nine, if you look like me, text me. Shoot me a text. I might change my mind and pop up over.
Mal
We got hops.
Joe Budden
Hey, text me if that. Start playing a drum earlier than he's supposed to.
Parks
I want you sign the paperwork.
Joe Budden
No, no, I can still come back, develop a relationship. Okay. Him. Yeah, I can still come back. Let me jump up that cream up.
Parks
The jumping out the walker. If he jumping out the walker.
Joe Budden
Let me know. If he's Picasso with the crayon, I am going to come around.
Parks
If he 3ft at 18 months, Holl at.
Joe Budden
Yeah, man. Yeah. I ain't go front. I'll be thinking about who's up with the dads that wasn't there. Where LeBron dad at that he got to be the sick one. He some mad as that is 6 somewhere.
Mal
This don't take much to be a black. If he had just showed up to like, one skate party.
Joe Budden
Shaq, dad, like, some of y'all kids is gonna grow up and dominate.
Parks
Yo, this about to sound up. Some of them might not make it to that if dad was there.
Mal
Some of them.
Parks
I'm just saying some of them. You hear them talk. They use that as, like, fuel. So some of them might not have became that if dad was there.
Mal
Yeah, Shaq would have been just fine.
Joe Budden
If the son or the child that I didn't want, want turn into Serena Williams. Guess who come be at the US Open. No, you got them tickets, and I.
Parks
Need a plus one. Yo, two tickets.
Joe Budden
And I gotta make up a lie for what I've been doing for 25 years. I gotta busy, busy. I gotta make something up bad.
Parks
That's when they blame moms.
Mal
They blame the moms.
Joe Budden
It do Be the mom. But if you're trying to reinsert yourself into the kids life, you can't blame it on mom. The kid loves mom. You gotta. You gotta own it yourself.
Mal
Yeah, I was in jail.
Joe Budden
Damn traffic. The whole. The whole. I've been trying to drive too. 13 years. License is up, man.
Parks
I just got right.
Flip
And LeBron look just like his pops too.
Joe Budden
I just googled it, nigga. If LeBron is my.
Flip
He look just like his father.
Joe Budden
Yo, I'm back, buddy.
Flip
Anthony McLeland, I'm back. And he played basketball too.
Mal
Look, I change my name to James. I'll be Anthony James. Yeah, I'm talking about LeBron.
Joe Budden
If it was Byron Russell, I'd have been back, right?
Mal
Don't take much.
Joe Budden
Would it take much for me to come back?
Parks
Whole father name on the Broadway.
Joe Budden
I can't believe Zoe. Zoe's husband fucking. She's a. He's a fucking. What a mutt. Let me see, what else? What else? What else?
Parks
You think that's modish?
Joe Budden
I think that's modish.
Mal
Why would you do that? I just don't understand why somebody would do that.
Melissa
He hyphenated his name.
Mal
No, hyphenated. I could understand. Did he hyphen it or did he just take her name?
Melissa
No, he hyphenated it.
Mal
Oh, hyphenated. I respect. I'm fine with Hypen still a pussy. I wouldn't do it, but I respect it.
Joe Budden
You're still a pussy.
Mal
I don't see nothing. What's wrong with hyphenating?
Joe Budden
Be a man.
Melissa
Well, the hyphen part, his name is before, so it ends in Saldana.
Mal
Yeah, I could live with that too. Like, I think hyphenating. My personal belief is just keep your name. I don't own you. You know what I mean? My wife has her name. I got my name. I'm good with that. But if we. But I know people who say, as a family, we want to be able to walk in and for women, a lot of times.
Joe Budden
But your wife didn't take your name.
Mal
No, I don't want it. I didn't want her to. She. Neither of us wanted to.
Ish
Same with mine.
Mal
Yeah, same. Right? Yeah.
Joe Budden
And.
Mal
And also, you know, and then there's the Latin American thing where, you know, you have different names and like, naming is different, you know? But no, I don't know. Yeah, it's like. So sometimes, like a lot of times, kids will take. Kids will take, like both names of the parents. You know what I mean?
Joe Budden
And then.
Mal
And then as you, as you go down the line, then one name gets knocked off and the next name comes on. So that's a way of acknowledging both parents. So it's not this thing where just like. Like, the dad's name takes over everybody's identity.
Flip
So then what do you do with your son's last.
Joe Budden
What do you do with your male dominance then?
Parks
Mel, how you feel about.
Mal
I save financial abuse. Except for after the game the other.
Flip
Day, your son got your last name off.
Mal
He hyphenated.
Joe Budden
He got both of them.
Mal
He has both of our names, and my daughters have same thing. We all hyphenated with their mother, and I'm good with that. You know what I mean? Like, I don't need that. But I know people who say, like, as a family unit, we all want to have the same last name.
Flip
Name. Yeah.
Mal
And I'm okay with that.
Parks
No Hov hyphenated.
Joe Budden
Right.
Ish
I thought that I was going to bring that up.
Joe Budden
I wasn't sure that that's not hov.
Mal
Wait, so he's. He's. He's Carter Knowles.
Parks
No, it's Carter.
Mal
Both of them think that's dope.
Joe Budden
It want your mouth talking about ho like that. You crazy.
Mal
Don't be disrespectful.
Joe Budden
Let me see this. You think that Jay Z is Sean Sean Carter? No. Sean Sean Knowles.
Mal
Knowles. Carter.
Joe Budden
Carter.
Mal
And if so, shout out to him. I think that's dope. Well, it's, I think hyphenated. Mel, would you want your husband to hyphenate?
Joe Budden
Y'all trying to trick me into saying something.
Parks
You see me over here, hands folded?
Mal
What is the issue?
Parks
I'm about to start twiddling my thumbs. Yeah, no, I want to hear your stance.
Joe Budden
Mel, let them get their 1v1.
Melissa
Your question. I would definitely keep my name because my name is my name. It's my stage name. It's my real name, so I would.
Joe Budden
No, it could still be your stage name. Yeah.
Melissa
Nah.
Flip
No, his last name is. Jay Z's last name is not hyphenated.
Melissa
Okay, I'm cool with the. I'm cool with the hyphenation, but my name would be on the end of the hyphenate. And Zoe Saldana's husband doesn't believe in.
Parks
You said your name would be on the end of the hyphenation.
Melissa
Yes.
Joe Budden
If you got married.
Melissa
Yes.
Joe Budden
Oh, you don't want to get married.
Melissa
Hold on. Hold that thought. Because Zoe Saldana's husband does not believe in typical gender wars. He stays home and raises their Kids because of her, the success of her career. This is just the role that he's.
Mal
The we, the Saldana's.
Parks
So the more successful one determines how this last name thing is going.
Melissa
Not necessarily.
Mal
For me, it's about just what flows better, you know what I mean? And things like that. Like, if you name Krzyzewski and the other one is Smith, like, Smith might just float better than you know what I'm saying? Like, that's how I would think about it. To me, it's not who got more money or who's more dominant. It's just what was gonna float.
Joe Budden
I think my girl did mention something about trying to preserve her dad's legacy, and then I had to have the uncomfortable talk. Man.
Parks
Yeah, I'm Daddy. Fuck.
Mal
I mean, that is, like, literally patriotic.
Joe Budden
Pops up in heaven. Yeah. With all due respect, boy, you birthed a good one in.
Mal
Yeah, but give me that legacy.
Joe Budden
Daddy got it. Daddy.
Parks
Daddy got it now.
Joe Budden
Daddy got it from here.
Parks
I got it from here. Daddy got it now.
Joe Budden
Mel Ford ain't gonna be on the end of nothing that Ford gonna be crashing on the highway somewhere for if you don't get that fortune out of here. Are you crazy?
Mal
Let me see this, bro. And, Mel, would you feel okay with your Zoe?
Ish
I tried telling y'all.
Mal
What?
Joe Budden
Zoe's the most successful.
Ish
She might be the most successful female actor.
Parks
She up there with Julia Robbins Robertson.
Mal
She's big.
Ish
Yeah, she's an Avatar mcu.
Melissa
She's the action hero. Like, literally. Sigourney Weaver passed the baton to her.
Mal
Yeah, she's big, Mel.
Parks
Who said what?
Melissa
Huh?
Mal
So are you okay with dude taking your name, or would it be y'all? Y'all say separate. Like, is he Smith?
Melissa
It would definitely be a conversation. It would definitely be a conversation because. Because I feel like the type of man that I would end up wouldn't just. He ain't gonna be in Beta. He gonna want to have a conversation about this, you know?
Mal
Do you think it's possible to be an Alpha man and take your name?
Flip
You like Alpha men?
Parks
Nope.
Flip
Yes, you like Alpha men.
Joe Budden
You can't walk.
Mal
You can't get up. The conversation gonna be over.
Joe Budden
If you say your thought. You can leave.
Flip
Yes, you do.
Joe Budden
Yes, you do. Come on, man.
Parks
I don't have a thought. This is a broadcast.
Flip
Alpha, alpha, alpha, Alpha, Alpha.
Parks
My such.
Flip
Let's go.
Parks
So you want these men to be traditional men? When it's convenient, traditional women took the last name of their husbands.
Flip
Talk about it.
Parks
You are honoring your husband. You're not honoring your father.
Melissa
Who says that, though?
Parks
Me and tradition.
Flip
Yeah.
Melissa
So tradition and tradition.
Flip
Me too.
Parks
We have.
Melissa
But patriarchy is tradition.
Mal
Speaking.
Parks
So now you saying that the patriarchy don't exist when a lady, again, is the CEO of Xerox? When the lady is the CEO of.
Mal
Xerox with your feet up like that.
Flip
Yeah.
Joe Budden
Look at me.
Parks
You get what I'm saying? Like, come on the out of here.
Joe Budden
My.
Parks
Like, y'all be men or y'all don't.
Flip
She got the moris on.
Parks
The men don't. These are come and go with the ladies convenience.
Mal
But is it possible to think about things saying, I like tradition, but say some traditions just aren't good anymore?
Parks
Yeah, when they're convenient for your specific.
Mal
Why does everybody say pick? You're supposed to pick and choose.
Parks
I'm not. But if you live your life like that, then that's fine. I'm totally with that. I am totally with Homeboy sitting at home raising those kids. And I don't look at him like less of a man at all. If my wife is out here doing 20 million per film, then I'm gonna sit home. How you like your eggs? I don't have a problem with that at all. And that don't take away from my masculinity. And. And I still run my household. I've dated women that had way more money than me, and I still was the man in that particular relationship.
Flip
Don't try to, nigga.
Parks
What we do today in society is we attach dominance to the finance. Yeah. And that's fucked up. So now when a man makes more money, people shun, oh, yo, he treating her like shit. Yo, he treating her like she's subservient. But then when a nigga makes less money, then he automatically becomes subservient, and that's accepted. So we can't have it both ways.
Flip
It's bullshit, Right?
Parks
If it's based on morality and it's based on a stance, let's keep that stance across the board. Regardless.
Flip
Let's go big Ish.
Mal
I hear that.
Joe Budden
I guess I from usa Mark smoke mail.
Flip
Smoke.
Joe Budden
On that Eminem smoking egg. Smoking on that Ford pack.
Flip
Must be talking about Harrison Ford, not this Ford.
Melissa
The reality of my particular lived experience is that I have bucked tradition. I have lived my life in a way that I have bucked tradition. So I think that I have the bandwidth to, yes, pick and choose what I feel like is acceptable to me in terms of what is considered tradition and what is fucking antiquated. And Rooted in fucking patriarchy.
Mal
Here's the thing that I think Ish is right about. I think that women, I can't speak speak for you personally, but there are women who will say that they don't want tradition and traditional gender roles, but there are moments where they want what they call a benevolent patriarchy. Like, you still want the door. Hell, for you.
Flip
Let's go. You still.
Mal
Let me finish that. I'm not speaking for you.
Melissa
Wait, wait, hold on one second here. Waking up, is that just not manners or being or chivalry? What's the difference between. What is the difference? That's just manners. That's just good manners.
Mal
Manners. Why wouldn't manners also include you holding the door for me?
Melissa
I can. I can and I would.
Parks
Right?
Mal
But if I shut the fuck down.
Parks
If you and I would always like to finish.
Melissa
But a lot of times, a lot of times there's men who will not let you touch a fucking door. And that's them. That is on them. That is the role that they want to play.
Mal
I don't disagree with you, but let's say hypothetically, I wasn't married and you and I went on a date. Actually, let me not use me. Let's say you and gentlemen don't use me.
Parks
No, you, you. We grown man use you.
Mal
Okay. So hypothetically, you and I go on a date. I suspect that if I didn't open the doors for you, you'll judge me at the end of the day. You said, and. And I just let the door close. Or if I didn't pick up the check. Okay, right. That, that there would be a thing of. Yo, what kind of dude.
Parks
Butter in the pan.
Mal
Right? Because there's an expectation of what I'm supposed to do. So what I. No, I mean, we're just talking. So. But. But when I clear out, so what I hear you say chivalry, even chivalry is expectations of what manners look like that are gendered. Because chivalry is me opening the door for you. It's not you opening the door for me. Okay, So I think sometimes when we say we are traditional or we're non traditional, to Isha's point, we are picking and choosing. I'm okay with picking and choosing, but I think we have to sometimes be more self aware about how invested in some of those patriarchal traditions we are, especially when they benefit us.
Joe Budden
Mark is on the guy's side. I with Mark. Yo, when Mark is on.
Flip
Let her respond.
Joe Budden
No, no, let us tell jokes in between.
Flip
Respond.
Joe Budden
When Mark is for the Men. That's my favorite.
Flip
He don't play with me.
Joe Budden
For the men. All right, go ahead.
Flip
Let's Sister Mary Clarence respond. Let's get it.
Melissa
I think that with the ex. With the example of opening doors, if somebody walks through a door and lets it fucking slam in your face, it's rude. Regardless of gender. Regardless of gender. That's number one. Number two, I have found myself in Southern states and I try to open the open door for myself and they will not let me because that's their custom. That is just how they believe. That is how they are raised. And they say, you Northern girls are like that. You always want to do shit on your fucking own. And I'm like, maybe that is, in fact true because we're so fucking used to it. So it is not. It's not something that I would go back and report to my friends. Oh, this motherfucker didn't open the door for me because I wouldn't even be literally thinking about it.
Mal
So first date, you have no expectation of him paying the bill? Honestly.
Melissa
Honestly, if he has asked me to go out with him.
Joe Budden
Mel, come on. No. Waste of time. We're live. Mel's lying.
Flip
No, I.
Parks
Cause there was a date.
Joe Budden
Stop.
Flip
No attacking her.
Joe Budden
Stop.
Parks
Flip, stop. It's a date that Mel went on that she came up here and told us she didn't go on a second date because the man didn't do something that he was supposed to do. Traditionally.
Melissa
What was it?
Parks
I forgot.
Melissa
Exactly. Okay. So anyways, your argument sucks, remember?
Flip
We remember, but. Let her finish.
Melissa
If you have asked me out on a date, if this is not just us getting together and this was not planned, or whatever the case is, and we don't have anything romantic going on, then I'm pulling out my credit card at the end of the date and I'm offering to pay half. I do not walk around with the assumption that the man is going to pay just because I'm here. If you have asked me out on a date, yes, I absolutely believe you should pay for it.
Mal
And if you're dating somebody, say you go on five dates, 10 dates, there's.
Melissa
Gonna be times where I get the bill. Okay, that's just. And if that. Is that a progressive way of thinking or is that a traditional way of thinking? And so that's the tradition that I don't believe in. That's the tradition that I think can be moved forward in a progressive manner.
Mal
Interesting. Okay.
Joe Budden
Now, y'all know I support lying in podcasts.
Parks
You do. You encourage you.
Joe Budden
So I'M Yeah, I encourage.
Melissa
Hold on. Maybe I need to make. Make something clear. That is, if I'm in a relationship.
Joe Budden
What is the last.
Melissa
The last statement that I made with Mark? That's. That's the. That's what I was saying.
Parks
In a relationship, why would that matter if you're in a relationship or not? Why would that matter if you're in a relationship?
Joe Budden
He got her.
Parks
You blew it.
Joe Budden
She blew it.
Parks
He got it back into the debate.
Melissa
Why.
Parks
Why would it matter?
Flip
Doesn't matter. Y'all, this.
Joe Budden
That's. No, that proves point.
Parks
That proves the point, because you are. Now, if you're not in a relationship and you are expecting this man to do certain things predicated on his gender courting you, then. Then it. Then it diffuses the whole point that there's a expectation based on gender or not courting you for men to do.
Joe Budden
X like me and you have always been platonic. We've been out a million times. You've never reached for the check once.
Melissa
I mean.
Joe Budden
What?
Melissa
Nothing.
Flip
She pointed at him.
Melissa
Nothing.
Parks
I don't know.
Melissa
No. Nope, nope.
Mal
I think she pointed at both of us. I missed. I just didn't get the joke.
Melissa
Nothing. Nothing. Never mind.
Parks
No, but.
Mal
Oh, you said.
Joe Budden
No, no, no, no. That's.
Melissa
That's. That's a whole other ball of wax.
Parks
I think I understand Joe's point. And Joe's point is if we friends and we cool, and you saying if we go out to eat, then there are times that you reach for your wallet. Why didn't you reach for your wallet when we went out? Is that what you're saying?
Joe Budden
Yeah. Like, when I do that is the patriarchal scale and the gender and the expectations. That's what that is. I don't mind it. I'm not throwing it.
Parks
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's me as a man. That's what we should do.
Joe Budden
So. But that is what they saying.
Parks
Yeah.
Joe Budden
And you down with that is all we be saying.
Melissa
Olive branch, white flag. I don't got it anymore.
Mal
And it's not a beef thing.
Parks
It's not a bad thing.
Mal
Cause I think men also have that, like, as progressive as I am, there are certain things that I don't let women do because. And it's patriarchy.
Parks
Right.
Mal
You know what I mean? Like, I'm. Some of it is patriarchy, some of it is expectation. Like, I know that if I take a woman on a date, no matter how progressive she knows I am when I was dating, if I don't pay the bill, she's not Gonna say, oh, that nigga's so progressive. He thinks we have gender equality. He'll be like, that nigga cheap. She gonna be like, that nigga cheat. You know what I mean? So some of it is just how the world. It's just how the world works. And so some of it, we play into.
Melissa
And also, it's like there's way too many nuances, which is why I'm saying all of Brandt White flag. Because there's way too many nuances involved in the conversation. Because the fact of the matter is, is that the longer that you start to see somebody and the courtship progresses and, you know, closeness. The closeness starts to develop and stuff like that, then a synergy starts to happen. Like, there's a lot of things are developing where understanding starts to come into play. You know what I'm saying?
Mal
No, that's true. That's true. And every situation is different. I'm just saying that I think a lot of times we fall into these traditional roles, even when we think we don't and we just don't see it. And it's easier, even for me. Like, for example, like, I don't want to cook, so it's easy for me to fall into. Or a better example. Cause my wife doesn't. Neither of us really cook, right? But, like, washing clothes. I don't want to wash clothes. I fucking hate washing clothes. She has no more of a duty to wash clothes than I do. But she does it. She cleans the house 99% times more than I do. And I just let her do it. I just fall into that. And that's patriarchy. Whereas I wouldn't do that about, like, fixing her car. When it's time for a car to get fixed, I just jump in and do it. Because that's my instinct. And. But that's a man. It's just because I think as a dude, I'm supposed to be doing that.
Parks
Do you think that. See, my household is just the opposite. So I wash dishes, I clean, I do all of that shit. I don't think it's patriarchy. I just look at. It's two adults. Yeah, that's how I envision it. I don't look at it like that's my girl's role. You understand what I'm saying? Like, if my girl cleans the kitchen that day, she just cleans the kitchen that day. But typically I clean the kitchen. Cause I'm up late, so my girl go to sleep. That's my.
Mal
That's what I can't.
Parks
But it's not a rule, but it's not based on my stuff. Both of y'all realizing this shit has to get done.
Melissa
Unless you walk in this house late.
Joe Budden
And try to clean this kitchen. Boy, I hit you with a Vernon.
Melissa
But the other thing is, is that as you know us trying to be progressive, we're less likely to talk about gender roles and refer to our mates as, you know, in the gen. We refer them as partners now. And when we think of when we call each other partners, we're really expecting. Our expectation is this is a partnership, so this is shared responsibilities kind of thing. So it's less of a gender role assignment. And it's just about. We have decided to cohabitate. We've decided to have a family. So whatever. Wherever the slack is.
Mal
And I'm just saying I'm more like. The last thing I'll say is I'm just likely to let some slack go.
Melissa
With the washing clothes.
Mal
And it's usually very traditional. I'm not going to change the tire. I'm not gonna let the tire change in slack go, but I will definitely let some draws get.
Parks
I don't play my girl touching garbage. I've been like that with anybody that you cannot. I'm not cool with that. You're not taking the garbage out. You're not doing right.
Mal
That's what I'm saying.
Parks
The most you can do, take the bag out right there and tie it. That's it. But you don't touch.
Flip
Like the sad part about it.
Joe Budden
No, that's big.
Flip
And I'm done.
Parks
Shut your eyes.
Flip
Tradition. We would love for tradition to work both ways, but we can't because life is evolving every day.
Parks
Double standards exist.
Flip
Double standards exist.
Parks
But yep.
Flip
I do would like. I do want my wife to wash dishes. I do want my wife to do the laundry. Not because I can't do it because she's better at it than me.
Parks
Get in that kitchen better.
Mal
Maybe because you got all the practice from doing it all the time.
Flip
I mean that if you never do it.
Joe Budden
No.
Parks
You don't wash the whites with the colors, right?
Flip
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I may wash the white clothes with.
Joe Budden
With.
Flip
With cold water. You know what I'm saying? I just made this. I know.
Parks
Anime.
Flip
Yeah, not anime. No, no, no. I want to cook. She tell me, you know, just do your thing.
Joe Budden
Everybody made a lot of sense in. In closing the. That Ford is going in the junk draw.
Melissa
Shut up.
Joe Budden
Word.
Flip
It ain't going. I'm team Ford.
Joe Budden
Nigga name crazy Har said the Hudson river the fors we'll see hyphenated for. Get the out of here. Also happy to report the police are saying they have identified all of the suspects in that horrific shooting with Homie and his daughter. They have active warrants out. Get them.
Ish
Yeah, see Quan got paid.
Parks
See if I got some swaggy 20.
Ish
20 plus a year, two year extension. 40 something. 40 million 41.
Mal
I don't feel like enough.
Parks
He earned every dog. That's for the running.
Mal
You know what I'm thinking?
Joe Budden
Basketball, running back in the league. I think okay.
Ish
I think ever by far.
Mal
Is that okay? Okay. I don't know if about football tonight.
Joe Budden
He was fighting with the giants to get 13.
Parks
I thought it was 15.
Joe Budden
Yeah, 13. That's the giants.
Mal
The giants wouldn't give him 13 million.
Joe Budden
They would not give him $13 million.
Parks
He gave Danny Dodd times 40.
Joe Budden
And I told y'all that these running backs that are up for renewal next season are going to change the entire market. And that just said Jermaine Gibbs, Bijon Robinson, Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry and now.
Parks
And now to say Quan just did that. What are you going to tell a young 20, early 20s, Jameer Gibbs? He can't get right.
Joe Budden
Oh, he's going to take.
Parks
He's a threat out the backfield catching the ball and running the ball. There's nothing I can't do. What?
Joe Budden
You gotta give him 16.
Parks
You gotta give him 18.
Joe Budden
17.
Parks
You gotta give him 18. He's young. Still, while we on football, how do y'all feel about Deebo to Washington?
Joe Budden
I don't care.
Parks
I care.
Joe Budden
I care.
Parks
I know you feel about that.
Joe Budden
You do care.
Parks
You think I care?
Joe Budden
Yeah. Why you care?
Parks
I'm a Cowboys fan.
Joe Budden
What that mean?
Parks
Y'all ain't have a conference. Yeah, in our conference.
Joe Budden
Division. It stop enough now he still thinks.
Mal
The Cowboys can win.
Joe Budden
You like me, bro?
Parks
None of that matters. I still want my team to have a shot at me.
Mal
It makes sense. It makes sense.
Parks
I'm a fan of the team. So yeah, I'm still root for my team.
Mal
But you should. I'm just saying neither outcome will lead.
Joe Budden
To a different situation. Debo wasn't.
Parks
You want some money? You got some money, you're gonna be in last place. I like taking these money up here.
Mal
I don't know enough about football to bet on it. I just know the Cowboys ain't.
Parks
We ain't this year. We wasn't.
Joe Budden
I don't like what they doing to Shador. I didn't have that on the board but I don't like what they doing.
Parks
What you mean?
Ish
Or. Or Cam Ward even for that matter matter.
Joe Budden
He. He seems fine to me. I haven't heard anything about. He's QB1 for sure. He's on most of the board.
Ish
No question.
Joe Budden
What they doing to Shador is he's too arrogant. He's too. This didn't interview well. We got him dropping the late in the 20s. The gap between him and Cam Ward is bigger than the gap between him and Jackson Dart or whatever those the rest of the quarterbacks are. But below him they got him dropped. They starting to do the mock drafts where his name is just being totally disrespected. I don't know what's happening out there, but I don't like what's happening with Shador.
Mal
How good is he?
Parks
He good.
Ish
He's pretty good.
Mal
Like do you see.
Joe Budden
I mean if you're going off what you've seen on film, do you expect.
Mal
Him to be like a. Like who's this comparable in the NFL today? Like who would be a comparable player?
Parks
What's my man name from the Falcons?
Ish
Very similar to Cardinals? Nowhere near. He's not. He's not mobile.
Joe Budden
I like the two will come.
Mal
Okay.
Joe Budden
I like the two.
Ish
He's not mobile like that. Yeah, he's 2ish.
Joe Budden
Okay.
Ish
From what I've seen and the way.
Joe Budden
They slander in his name, I don't know if the Giants take him if he's there.
Parks
Well, y'all ain't gonna take him because he black.
Ish
I've heard that they're trying to trade off Cam.
Joe Budden
That package that I saw looked absolutely ridiculous to trade up to the first pick.
Ish
What was it?
Joe Budden
What was the package?
Parks
Y'all giving away the house.
Joe Budden
It was our. Our third pick from this year, our second round pick from this year, our second round pick for next year. A player. It was mad some more Herschel Walker type. Hell no.
Parks
And that's the thing. The team ain't gonna be cause you're gonna give up mad and now he gonna be stuck in the same situation with no o line with Danny.
Ish
Hold up. Their offensive line isn't horrible. And they got my man neighbors.
Parks
Neighbors is a problem.
Ish
You put a good quarterback there, you put Ken Ward there. They're. They're going to be a good football team. They're going to be something you have to deal with. And their defense is not. There's pieces. There's pieces. The Giants are not that horrible. They're not as bad in bad shape as like the Patriots, even though they have a lot of cap room, they're not in the worst, worst place. Except for the quarterback, Yo.
Parks
Keeping it a buck. They never were. They always had. But without. You know what I'm saying? Like, without the quarterback, y'all know I'm not. I don't think Danny Dimes is a bum like that.
Ish
I don't think he's horrible, but I don't think. Ken.
Parks
I think the O line was trash. That's why Saquon kept getting hurt year after year after year. Cause they O line wasn't shit. Danny Dimes don't be getting a chance to throw the ball. And they didn't have a number one. Malik Neighbors is a certified bonafide. Number one for sure. So we'll see.
Joe Budden
Cuomo running for mayor is interesting to me, but we tore the end. We don't have to. We don't have to get into that right this second. And I think he's leading polls. I like it. I think a good majority of New York are still Cuomo fans, even with how he was outed.
Ish
I think the country in general is kind of going back, looking at some of the cancellations that happened.
Mal
Yeah.
Ish
And being like, maybe.
Parks
Yeah, maybe. That was a little my nigga. How can you justify picking a president that got 30 sexual allegation charges and ousting the governor that had one or two.
Joe Budden
Right.
Parks
With no proof this nigga got convicted. He the president.
Ish
Right.
Parks
This dude got accused and he had to step down.
Joe Budden
Right.
Parks
And when he. When they made him step down, his ranking was way up there.
Joe Budden
He was.
Parks
Because post Covid, he was the man.
Mal
He was America's leader.
Parks
He was. Post Covid, he was him.
Mal
So we thought he'd be the next presidential candidate.
Parks
Yeah, they thought he was gonna run. So I think that. I just think he has a way of talking to the people. He resonates with common Americans. I think that that's his strength.
Mal
And I think they've learned a lesson, too. I mean, you look at Al Franken, for example, you know, powerful senator in Minnesota. He stepped away for a very small charge relative to what some of these other Republicans have been accused of. I'm not defending what Al Franken did. I don't even know what Al Franken did exactly, because I don't. I just don't remember. But I do know that I think Democrats have learned a lesson, that they're playing by two different rules. They keep stepping aside, and Republicans be like, yeah, I pulled my dick out. I don't care I'm running again, and you gonna vote for me? And they do.
Parks
And I jerked it right. You know what I'm saying? Like, yo, what's the charge? Lewdness is when you jerk your dick.
Ish
Yes.
Joe Budden
Right.
Ish
Yes.
Mal
I don't know.
Parks
They lewd. You know what I'm saying? Like, I think just. The Democrats are pussies.
Mal
Yeah. So Andrew Cuomo might be the return of some courage for them. You know what I mean? Even though I don't like him, you know, he's. I. I hate Eric Adams, so I'll take it.
Parks
And that part. That's the part, too. New Yorkers, and by and large, I.
Joe Budden
Think are Eric Adams versus Mario Cuomo. Lancelot, that's a nice fight. That's just.
Mal
That's the tank.
Parks
No, it ain't.
Joe Budden
Tell me more.
Parks
Cuomo's putting that nigga to sleep in the third round. I don't even think it's close.
Joe Budden
I wasn't talking about really results.
Parks
Oh.
Joe Budden
I'm talking about the personalities.
Parks
Oh, right, right.
Joe Budden
Those two personalities on the campaign. Oh, my God.
Mal
And in a primary tour.
Melissa
Yeah.
Mal
In a New York primary. Because you really get a good primary challenge.
Parks
Cuomo's a New Yorker, B.
Ish
Yes.
Parks
Cuomo is a New Yorker.
Ish
Talks like it walks like it.
Parks
Talks like it walks like it. Eric Adams.
Joe Budden
Eric Adams not a New Yorker.
Parks
I'm talking about.
Joe Budden
Eric Adams got on TV and was like, hey, Kansas, New York got a spirit about us. Eric Adams been talking that New York for a while. I don't think that's.
Mal
He was a Brooklyn police.
Joe Budden
I just think Cuomo has the edge in how he handled the pandemic before they did that shit.
Parks
I just think how he talks and he resonates with the people. Eric Adams, from inception, from the first day, niggas was like, eh, yeah.
Mal
He was a plurality. Niggas like, eh, yeah. He's somebody. Was like, all right. Of all these people, he's the least. He's the one we hate the least.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Mal
Whereas Andrew Cuomo, people stand up for and want.
Joe Budden
And with Eric Adams, he had puff at the time.
Parks
Jay.
Joe Budden
All of them at the time.
Parks
Angie, all of them was pulling at the time.
Joe Budden
I don't know if he has all of that this go around.
Parks
Well, it still was.
Mal
He might have Puff.
Joe Budden
I hit the round of applause. A few quick hits. Whole foul's defamation suit on Busby and the Jane Doe accuser. Round of applause. Go hov. Go hov. Go hov. We support you and we love you. Casey Anthony has a really weird rebrand going on right now. I guess I'll tell you about it on Patreon. But she's a weirdo. I don't know what future has going on with this little young girl, but it's a constant reminder not to young girls.
Parks
Is she young?
Joe Budden
Yes.
Parks
Older. Me.
Flip
She looks older than me.
Parks
Yeah. She ain't looking. Don't get.
Joe Budden
Don't give me the line. And I'm going based off her behavior. Oh, yeah.
Parks
Mentally young.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Parks
I'm going like her face didn't look that young. Song.
Joe Budden
We gotta rest in peace for Skype. There is no more Skype. Skype is officially a rap.
Ish
Skype used to hold it down.
Joe Budden
You know I'm sad. You know I'm sad. Nasty. Skype, Gmail chat, uvu, all them shits. Come on now.
Mal
G Chat was the.
Joe Budden
Oh my God. That was fun.
Mal
They added that little video feature. It was over.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Flip
What else?
Joe Budden
What else, what else? I had something else, but I don't remember it. I don't remember right now.
Parks
School.
Joe Budden
I don't. Sleepers. Sleepers. Which get those sleepers. I'm going in the vault. I'm going in the vault for this one. I don't know if this is available on your phone or on dsps. This is Division one in a million. Whoa. I don't know if this was a soundcloud error or what. I don't think it's out though. Shout out to Division. Daniel, what's good? Your love is a one in a million? It goes on and on you give all day long? Your love is.
Melissa
Give me a really.
Joe Budden
Good feel all day long. I don't only one time to see you only want to see you it brand new old music. That is Division. That is their one in a million division remix. I wish Division get back in their bag of remixing the R B records. That's already out. Give us a little tape of that. Shout out to them. I'm not sure it's available on your phone or in dsps, but shout out to Division. Friends of the show. Before we continue off of that Anthony Edwards news that we reported earlier. Anthony Edwards gets a win in court after a judge ruled that Aisha Howard's child support case she filed in California has no jurisdiction. Anthony claims Aisha lives in Georgia despite her claims that she moved to California before giving birth. He alleges she gave birth to their daughter and filed her case in California in an attempt to get more child support. So small win. Yeah.
Parks
Seem again back to what I was just saying. Seemed like she had it for a bag. She had the baby for a bag. And he don't want nothing to do with it.
Joe Budden
So don't get pregnant and try to foul in California. God damn it. No. No foul in Tennessee. Where the fuck I met you at? What the fuck you talking about? California? You shitting me?
Parks
She tried it.
Joe Budden
Yeah.
Parks
Yeah, she tried it. That speaks volumes.
Joe Budden
Yeah. All right, what we got, man?
Parks
I'm playing something off this gym album. This is back in the day off of at the church steps.
Mal
I hate you, man.
Joe Budden
