You're the. You're the most experienced 29 year old.

I got him at 16.

I think that's one of the best things I learned from Juice as I've gotten older. But our friendship really kicked off, like, halfway through 2018. Yeah, a lot of times we do. Unfortunately, after nine years, the teams have started to pick up.

So we got to mix it up a little bit. But it definitely is one of our top plays.

Kyle and I were reflecting on that first year last night when we were out to dinner.

Yeah.

Oh, it was such a crazy year on so many, like, 2017. Yeah. Because there was no leadership. Right. Because the whole team. Well, barely.

[George Kittle]

Besides Joe Staley was a lot.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

Yeah. Yeah.

[Kristen Houston]

The whole team was new. So, like, from the.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

I think there was three players. Players that were left over from the previous roster.

[George Kittle]

I just remember when I got drafted there, they cut, like, 25 dudes.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

Yeah.

[Kristen Houston]

So it was awkward.

[George Kittle]

It was really weird. Yeah.

[Kristen Houston]

Yeah. And then the guys who stayed were probably. It's just uncomfortable because the guys that they were playing with weren't there. It's all fresh meat.

[George Kittle]

They all got to get rid of everything.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

No. We were talking about how it was funny. I actually missed my first 49ers meeting when I signed this team. Yeah. So, like, they gave us, like, an itinerary, and it, like, stopped at, like, 4:00 clock or something. And then I didn't realize on the backside, we were all signing pages, all signing agents.

[Kristen Houston]

He went to Harvard.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

All the free agents were supposed to be at the hotel at, like, 7 or 8 o' clock for, like, a meet and greet. And it was that. It was a weird year. We literally had, like, 17 free agent signings. Like, now you have, like, three a year.

[George Kittle]

Hoyer, Logan Paulson.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

Yes. Marquise Goodwin, myself, Malcolm Smith. Like, there were so many of them.

[Kristen Houston]

Oh, my God.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

And so we were just.

[Kristen Houston]

We went out to dinner.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

We just went to dinner. And Santana.

[Kristen Houston]

We went to Santana Row for the first time.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

Like, exploring. Yeah.

We went to that tequila bar. Yeah. And we were just. That was our first restaurant we ever went to. Like the outdoor one in the middle.

[George Kittle]

That's one's the.

[Kristen Houston]

And I remember Kyle got a text from Bobby T. And you know that, like, sheer panic when it hits your face, I'm like, is everything okay?

[George Kittle]

I'm supposed to be in a meeting right now.

[Claire Kittle]

What do you do? Leave immediately?

[Kyle Juszczyk]

Yeah. No, I mean, we left.

[Kristen Houston]

I know he left.

[George Kittle]

All of it.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

Ended up being fine. And, like, Bobby T. Still talks about it to this day. In almost every meeting that we have with the running backs.

[Kristen Houston]

But he's.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

He flips it to be a good thing that I was looking for housing, like, right away to bring that all full circle. What I was just trying to get is, like, it was different because, you know, you were a rookie coming into the league. I had already been in the league for four years and now I was on, like, a new team.

[George Kittle]

Yeah.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

So, like, we were all kind of like trying to find our parents.

[Kristen Houston]

Yeah.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

You guys were all living in that apartment with all the other rookie and Celica.

[Kristen Houston]

And we lived far away. And I remember just being so jealous, like, seeing you guys all hang out, have no friends.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

So it took a year or two until we got to really, like, spend a lot of time together.

[Kristen Houston]

But there was no, like, you know, girls hanging out or organized events. Really the first, like, couple. No one knew what was going on to do. Yeah. And we also took a year.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

Yeah, we weren't very good.

[George Kittle]

We were horrible until week 11. Then we were awesome.

[Kyle Juszczyk]

Then we were awesome.

[George Kittle]

Then we were really good at football.

[Kristen Houston]

But Kyle would always be like, I don't even remember what the. What we were at. Let's call it 3 and 10. And Kyle would be like, we're winning this.

Oh, no. We were.09.

Yeah, we were owing.

Still going to win. We didn't even have three, but we.

Finished six and ten. That's impressive.

Yeah, I remember Kyle running around the house. We saw Jimmy Garoppolo. We're like, there is light at the end of this.

That was big for us.

You know what else is really fun? Talking about how you guys met.

Okay, well, we met the same way you guys met.

No, you guys did not meet in college. You were in college. He wasn't.

I thought you meant me and Claire.

Oh, yeah, that was my segue.

Oh, my gosh. Okay. I had just transferred to Towson University. Shout out. Tigers.

As all of them are, by the way. Everyone has an Uncle John. I feel like, yeah. And my cousin was going to a nearby college, and he got tickets to go see the Ravens. I had never been to an NFL game before, so she didn't want to go. And so he texted me, like, do you want to come to the game? I'm like, yeah, of course. Why not? I've never been sure they were playing the Panthers.

Yes, we were.

[Kristen Houston]

Was Christian on the team?

[George Kittle]

No.

[Kristen Houston]

No, it was Fiona.

This was 2014.

He was in high school.

And so we went to the game. They were playing the Panthers. You guys were whooping, beating that.

Like, on the floor with them. And we were in our black uniforms. We looked sick that day.

So I, you know, done reworked clothes for a long time. It just kind of was like, a natural progression. I just. Claire and I love dressing up for game days. It's so much fun. And I just got, like, the itch to start making some things. And then I just got so addicted to making new stuff. It was so much fun to, like, work with my hands. And then I just felt so proud to wear it. And when somebody would ask, like, where'd you get that? I just loved being like, I made it anyway. So it was a natural progression from there. I, like, always knew there was a gap. It was a really hard industry to break into. But just getting a ton of people to wear it. Debo. Shout out to Debo. Sigo.

Debo actually was the original. A lot of people don't know that.

Yeah. And he really lit the match. And it was just so fun to really, like, see the puffer acceptance. Yeah. He wore The Ross Purdy puffer vest with all the flowers on it. It was my first time getting an embroidery machine, and I went crazy on that.

He loved it. Having so much fun embroidering things like that.

But so from there, you know, got licensing, which was amazing, and then got a business partner, Emma Greed. Shout Out. She's literally the most amazing person in the world. She has her own podcast, too, which is incredible. I listen to it all the time.

So I put it on Kyle, and it fits him perfectly. And I'm like, I feel like we're gonna have to bring this in a little. Yeah, just a little bit. Then I started, like, looking up his height, and I was texting assistant, like, how much does Glen weigh? And so we brought it in, and.

Yeah, it is science. I did that when I made Klay Thompson's. I went to Riley's house. Yeah, your brother. Because I'm like, who's the tallest person I know? Your brother.
