Yo, what is up, my friends? Welcome back to another episode of the Modern Mastery Podcast. I'm going to try something new as I tend to do quite a bit on this podcast. And I'm going to make it a bit shorter, right, Because I was just on a walk with my roommate and he mentioned something along the lines of he didn't feel interested in anything, right? He felt like he could only get interested once he was deeper into the. The subject matter matter at hand. So let's take video editing, for example, right? The excitement that he was looking for from dopamine only came later in the process where he had expanded his awareness past the fundamentals, right? So that's a lesson in itself where you, you may be able to become very interested in a specific thing. It just takes time to get to that point where you have to learn the fundamentals and then you have to start applying them to a problem, right? That I feel like that is where a lot of passion comes from is being able to use your skillset for, like, it has to have utility, right? There has to be a purpose behind what, what you are using and what you're applying it for. And why are you. Why you are applying it there. Now, the next thing is that the problem could be that you're not pursuing your curiosity, right? You're. You're pursuing someone else's curiosity. Now he does video editing for me, so it's, it's my. It's me giving him something to possibly get interested in, and it's perfectly fine if he doesn't want to or if he isn't so interested in video editing. And I mean, a lot of you may resonate with this, whether you are going to college and just not learning the things that you want to learn or you're in a job and you're not doing the things you want to do. And now while you can find enjoyment in those things by gamifying them, right? Making them fun by creating a game and boundaries and order and purpose and checkpoints and as desired outcome and all of that stuff, the flow requirements for getting into flow and you can make those things enjoyable, there's no problem there. But where does the passion and everything else come from that comes from pursuing your curiosity and yours only? Now, this requires a few things. You may think the first step is curiosity, but people aren't curious, right? So the first thing you have to ask yourself in order to ground yourself, I will say, or become more in touch with yourself and kind of calm your mind down so you open up room for Curiosity, right? Because it's suppressed right? Now. Now two questions to ask yourself is, are you overstimulated? Right? Are you getting cheap dopamine hits from other things, so memes or video games or other things like that, you, you get the point. And then the next thing, are you over caffeinated? In many people's case, I don't think that that is the problem, but it could, right? You feel groggy when you don't have that caffeine. And then are you. There's more questions, but like how stressed are you? Right? Become aware of your lifestyle and how your actions are affecting the outcome of kind of every aspect of your life, right? Become very conscious of the things you are doing and the purpose behind doing those things. Is there a purpose or are you doing it unconsciously? Are you mindlessly walking through life or are you consciously walking through life? And that alone will start to one, you'll be conscious. So you'll. There will be more things that stick out to you that spark that curiosity and cause that excitement in your. Make you want to dive deeper into that and it just feels better, right? You want to feel better and you want to be conscious, et cetera, et cetera. But the other thing about consciousness is that you gain awareness of your actions and what they are causing. Now you, once you start being more conscious and intentional with your actions and mindful and paying attention to them, you will. You may not notice the effect up front where it's like, oh, I don't. There's nothing negative about what I'm doing, right? This, this happens to me all the time. It's like I'll increase my caffeine intake to, to like 700 milligrams a day just because I'm like, oh, caffeine doesn't affect me. But it, it doesn't. For the first couple days I feel absolutely amazing. Cause I'm just jacked up on caffeine. And then I start to believe, oh, caffeine is amazing, I need to drink more of it or it's just cool if I can drink all of these energy drinks and stuff. And the thing with that is one, you have to let, you have to give it time to let the emotion fade from that lifestyle decision. And but two, if you're conscious of what you're doing and this is a life hack altogether, right? But if you are conscious of what you're doing. So let's say I am like I'm conscious of my alcohol consumption or I'm conscious of my caffeine consumption. Right. It's a choice. It's an intentional choice because I want to either test or experiment or receive a, a beneficial outcome from it. But then that's the one thing, right? When you're conscious of these things, you, it's kind of like you're setting a reference point in your head. So let's say me drinking caffeine, I drink it consciously. So then I am, I'm, I have the potential to be more aware of the negative effects. Not at that exact moment, but three days down the road, a week down the road, when I start feeling worse, when I start sleeping worse, I have something to tie it back to because I'm aware of something that could have caused that change. Okay, so that's one big reason for conscious living. And if you, we could dive into consciousness as a whole. But I'm just talking about being conscious of your actions, being mindful of them, being intentional with them being. Because that's the exact thing, right? If you are just doing things unconsciously, so drinking caffeine, jerking off, watching Netflix, I guess you could say, playing video games, all this other stuff, and it's not conscious. You are not going to be aware of the negative effects it is having on your life. If you do these things consciously, then that's when you can start to moderate because you understand the negative effects that they are having on your life. And then you're even more conscious and you can make conscious shifts to those lifestyle actions, right? And then with that, if you are conscious throughout this entire process on a week to week basis, bad habits naturally fall out of your life and you start to adopt good habits. I could make another podcast episode on habit formation because I believe a lot of the tactics in the industry aren't that helpful. I believe consciousness is the root of that. And I like to go meta. I like to find the root solution to things. And usually it's just consciousness and conscious living. That's all it is. But back to curiosity, right? So you're, you're living consciously, you're opening up room for that curiosity. What's the next step? Learning. But I want to take it one step back because I have a good example of what you can do to illustrate pursuing your curiosity. Because it, it just, it just comes to you, right? You, you can't force it. So to illustrate this, you can do this or you can just imagine doing this to get the picture. But you would go to a bookstore, let's say Barnes and Noble. So you walk into Barnes and Noble with nothing on your mind, right? You're you're calm, you're conscious, you're open to whatever that bookstore, and you're being intentional, right? About learning. So you go to the bookstore and you just wander around and then you pick up a book that sparks your interest. You sit down, you read it for a bit. But you also have to understand that you aren't married to that book. It's not like you have to read, read through the entire thing to see if it teaches you anything. If you're not interested in it, you're not interested in it. So after five, 10 pages, if you're not interested in it or after flipping around in the book, put it down, go find another book and repeat that process until you find something you truly want to dive into and continue learning. Because it's, it's giving you those dopamine signals of excitement. So that's the first thing. And you can, you can use the metaphor of a bookstore for anywhere. It can be online, it can be on Twitter or other things. But the next thing is learning, right? This is kind of the passion process. It's the YouTube video that I posted a bit back. You can find it. The thumbnail is like a, it's a whiteboard with me pointing at the whiteboard. And there will be like how to find your passion somewhere in the title. But this is the passion process where you, you figure out what you want to pursue by opening yourself up and putting yourself in an environment to actually be curious about specific things that will result in growth. And then you start learning. So you can do this all for free. Although I kind of sort of recommend it, I recommend free re free resources so you can get general understanding and awareness of the topic at hand. And awareness begets awareness. So once you dive into the broader topics, you can narrow in and dive into what you are more curious in. So I recommend reading one book because that usually gives you like one bestseller on the topic, because that usually gives you a broad overview of the traps, the path to learning the nuances that you need to understand the fundamentals, especially the fundamentals. And then another thing, I recommend two long form resources. So articles like a blogger or a podcaster or something like that, where you can dive into one specific topic in a deep way, right? And then the next thing, I recommend two to three social media accounts that actually talk about it. So then you can kind of surround yourself in an echo chamber of that interest and you start to pick up little things here and there that cause you to go down specific rabbit holes and learn even more about it. Right? And then from there that's when you kind of commit to something and buy say a course or you start a business around it or a brand around it and you start figuring out how to monetize this and apply it to a real world problem. And that's where the passion starts, right? And then you have a form of income, you have a way of life revolving around something that is grounded and connected to truth because that is where that curiosity is coming from, right? This is how you start to live a very fulfilling life, is by pursuing your curiosity. You can go back and listen to the episode on the creator economy where I kind of form the argument that everyone should be a creator when it's it's probably not going to happen, but the 1% that do start to form a self sufficient utopia, right? J.K. molina posted a great tweet the other day where it's like one day I'll be able to buy everything I need from my friends. I'll go to my local friends farm and buy some milk. I'll go to my other homie that sells shoes, I'll go to the guy that sells, I'll go to a man with a van on Twitter that sells toothpaste, non toxic toothpaste. And you get the point, right? Because everyone is pursuing their own interests and those interests are backed by years upon years upon years upon of conditioning and possibly conscious conditioning. So everyone's going to go in different directions, right? No matter what it is, they're going to go in different directions and everyone is going to have someone else to serve. So that is it for this podcast. I hope that was somewhat enlightening. It's a tad bit shorter than the other ones, which are like 25, 30 minutes. But I'm just testing things out, seeing how it goes and, and I don't want to dilute a message too much by topic switching all the time. I'd rather keep it to one thing and try to explain the nuances of that. So I'll leave it at that. If you want to start your own business or learn more about health or performance like high energy, then I would recommend joining Modern Mastery HQ. Podcast listeners get their first month for $5 and there is almost 2, 200 strategies, trainings, courses, systems inside the community. And then there's personalized help in the discord along with challenges and everything else. And it's kind of insane how much it has grown into. So if you join now, you're joining at a great time. It's very established. It's not a new product. So with that, I recommend you joining. And it's less than a dollar a day to improve your life on all fronts. So with that, I'll leave you with that. I keep repeating myself, but hope you have an absolutely amazing day. I'll see you in the next podcast.
