No, I've never been so sure. Take my head, let's run into the unknown. This is the beginning. You're listening to the Kristen Boss Podcast. I'm your host, Kristin Boss. As a best selling author and performance coach, I'm on a mission to share about sustainable and purposeful approaches to both business and life. Each week I bring relevant topics that I believe are necessary to create a life of purpose, significance and meaning. Entrepreneurship is about so much more than growing your bottom line. It's about who you are becoming in the process and building a life that is truly extraordinary. Entrepreneurship is really just the beginning. Hey bosses. Welcome to another episode of the podcast. It's going to be a short and sweet one, but it's going to be power packed. It's going to have a punch to it. Before we get into the content for today, I want to give you a couple announcements that are pretty fun. We launched our brand new offer called the Hub. It is a 90 day online course and community. We just closed the doors and it is unreal that we have people getting results in less than 14 days. In there we had a brand new student get 2020. Yes, new customers in less than 14 days we had another student get six new team members in seven days. I mean, the results are off the hook in there. It's pretty exciting what we are creating in there. It's pretty much if you've been eyeing my social selling academy and you're like, I'm not quite ready for that yet. But you want a place to really understand the mechanics and the basics of network marketing and really master. All right, how do I connect with people, talk to people, do content creation and maximize my warm market. And it is really exciting to see people getting crazy results. So we close the doors, we will open them back up the 1st of August for a limited time, limited spots. And we do this because we want action takers. We are doing cart close, cart open. Because it's like, hey, listen, I don't want you just sitting around being like, yeah, someday I'll take my business seriously. Oh, you know what, I'll join Monday. It's like, no. If you're ready, let's go. And the first 30 days, inside of our program, we have a guarantee to make your money back in the first 30 days. Uh, we have a plan, a map for you to just follow. Hey, just do these things, you'll make your money back. It's a 90 day program and we give you, we give you the full 90 days to make your money back. But we have a, like a fast track in your first 30 days where it's like, hey, follow this. The goal is to get you make your investment back in the first 30 days and consistently be making money after that. So it's been a wild ride. We're excited. We got a bunch of new students in there and they're already getting results. So you're going to want to make sure you head to the link in the show notes. We have a wait list so that you can be first to know when that cart opens so that you can join before we close the doors in August. And trust me, you will want to in August because that is like the whole, you know, back to school chaos. And you have to learn to work this business in all seasons, any season, in busy seasons, you know what I'm saying? All right, that's actually what we're going to talk about today. We're going to talk about what it looks like to commit to your business in a hard season, in a stormy season. And I will tell you, this year it feels like I'm watching a lot of storms kind of shake up people individually in the industry collectively. And I don't say this to scare you, or alarm you. I say this to say, hey, this is the season we're in. It's time to make some decisions about who you are as a business owner and who you are as an entrepreneur. And I'm in that season myself, like, just doing a lot of hard work and re. Like, rebuilding some things to serve my communities and my students better because the market has changed. So I'm like, all right, what do we need to do different to meet the needs of our students better and in a more sustainable way? So in that, you know, I think we have some. I want to say, like, we need to adjust our optics with how we view the current season and how you have viewed past seasons in your business. And, you know, I was saying this to a mentor the other day. I was like, hey, you know, it just feels like, you know, there was a season where selling was different. And he's like, yeah, selling is always different when, you know, there's a bunch of cash being put into the economy. People are buying, people are excited to buy. He's like, anybody can be good at selling in a. In. In a season that. Where there's a lot of resources on hand. But how good are you when there is, you know, scarcity in the market or people are making different buying decisions? And so we have the amazing opportunity right now to level up our skill set. Because imagine if you can crush it in a hard season, when things get easier, you will be unstoppable. But when things get easier, that's when people decide to, like, actually show up and start working their business. They wait for things to get easier, and they're like, all right, things have kind of calmed down. I'm ready to go back in my business. And I'm like, okay, but is it really. Is it really a flex when you're only good at business when it's easy? Are you really a leader when you know you only know how to lead a team when things are going good and everybody's winning and money's rolling in and everybody's all excited and, you know, crushing and all the money's coming in? Like, you know, and I was telling another in the same conversation with my mentor, he was talking about how he is observing some people in the space that we were both in who are closing their doors business wise or, you know, actually, we're seeing more of this. We're seeing some people close up their business. Not network marketers, but people in the education space, the online marketing space. And because things got hard. And he's like, you know, I'M disappointed for them because they, they were really leaders. They were leading people, you know, 19. Oh my gosh, guys, I was like, 1999. Goodness, 2019 to like 2022. They were real leaders in the industry. And I said, you know, can I disagree with you there? I want to respectfully disagree and say that they weren't leaders. They were winners with a lot of influence. Leaders are right now. Leaders are the ones who are still working their businesses, who are reinventing, who are doing. Getting their hands dirty, who are putting in the grunt work. I'm like, you know what? I think in this industry, we saw a season of winners, a lot of people winning, and then guess what? It got hard. It's not easy. People aren't showing up the same. And I'm seeing an alarming, a truly alarming shortage of leaders of people who can lead in hard seasons, keep their team focused, keep their team moving forward. Because winners, you know what, all they care about is what? Winning. So when they're in a losing season, they're like, well, where can I go win again? You know, because this isn't fun. And I will tell you, like, if you guys, I'm an enneagram3, I've got no, like, wings. I joke, like, I'm like, I'm. I've got the Ricky Bobby mentality. If you're not first, you're last. If you're not winning, you're losing. And it is an ego check, the best kind of ego check. I think humility should be given to us in heaping doses to remind us, like, hey, you're not unstoppable. You're not perfect. You're not always at the top. You're not always winning. In fact, your lessons, what really make you good in business is how you show up in a losing season, in a hard season, in a season where it's like, man, this is. This is just brutal. And so this is when you, this is where you find your grit. And no one, so many people don't want to find their grit. They're like, no, I just want to find the easy. Okay, great. Then you're always going to be the person who looks for easy when it gets hard. You're always going to be the person who bails when it's, when it gets uncomfortable. And so maybe this is the, the uncomfortable season for you. And here's, here's what I'm going to say about this. Like the storms and seasons. I was coaching a student inside my program, and she was like, she was talking to me about her business. And she was like, all right, well, I'm going to put my post together and then I'm going to do all these things. And I'm about to be on vacation for a week, so I just want to make sure I get this. And I. I stopped her. I said, hey, I said, I love that you're going to go on vacation. I said, but tell me, is your business in a place where you can afford to be gone, truly be gone for a week? And I think she was surprised I asked her that question. And she looked at me. She was like, no. In fact, my business is in, like, the worst place and things are financially scarce. I was like, oh, do you think this is the season to be completely checked out and away from your business while on vacation? Do you think this is that season? She sat with it. She's like, no. Now, guys, hear me. You guys might be freaking out as I'm saying this, being like, oh, my gosh, Kristen, didn't you write, like, the anti hustle book? Yeah. There's still a way to show up for yourself and your business, even while taking vacations. It just means you're gonna have some boundaries around your time. And I told her. I was like, listen, I get that you're with your family and you're with your time, but are you maybe in the season where you need to wake up at 6am on vacation with a cup of coffee, go out to the patio, go out to the deck, open up your laptop and get an hour done of focused work and then make yourself available to your family for the rest of the day? She's like, you know, I guess I hadn't thought of it. I was like, well, yeah. I was like, what can you afford to disrupt your momentum? And she's like, I can't. I was like, great, then we need to make some decisions. This is the season you're in. So how do we make this work? How do we make this work with the season that you're in while keeping the ball moving instead of like, oh, well, you know, I gotta have my vacation. Like, I get that, guys. I get that. But if you're in a place where I would just say, are you in a place where you can afford to just check out for a week? If you are, great, just understand, like, all right, I'm choosing this knowing that I'm disrupting some momentum that I'm going to have to earn back next week. All right, fine. But I would say I'm noticing. And this. This is kind of inspired from conversations with my fitness coach, with my mentor, and my business. Just the season I'm in with my business, like you guys, I am so busy developing and creating new content that it is a beast and it's requiring a lot more of my time. I'm on different marketing calls. Like, it is requiring so much mental energy from me and more work hours. And so I'm like, I realized a. In this, in my business, I was just telling my mentor, I'm like, you know what? I keep. Pretty much since January, I've been telling myself, like, okay, like, once we get past this, it should be easier. Once we get past this, it should be easier. Once we get past this, then we should be easier. And I realized, like, I keep waiting, waiting for it to, like, get easier. And instead I had this really profound thought. I think it was like, a month ago, asking myself, what if it's not going to be to get easier? What if this is just what it is right now? And that was probably the most important question I could have asked myself, because then it got me out of this, like, fighting my reality and into accepting my reality. And then asking myself, okay, if this is my new normal for the foreseeable future, then how do I need to show up for myself in my personal life and in my business so that I am thriving in this season? What adjustments do I need to make? And I had so many aha moments in that being, like, all right, this I'm going to have to, you know, I changed my entire workflow schedule. I realized I was like, okay, I can't take meetings during this time. This has to be content creation time. I can't do meetings here. I can't do that here. I rearrange my entire calendar. I talk to my team. I have. There was some things I had to take on. I'm like, okay, I'm going to take this on. This means I have to let that go. All because I started telling myself, what if this is just my new normal? How am I going to show up in my new normal? And I don't think we ask ourselves this question. I think everybody is just sitting around waiting for it to get easier, waiting for, like, the interest rates to drop, waiting for the market to change, waiting for the election, waiting for all of these, like, waiting for life to get less busy. You guys, we have to stop waiting for it to get easier and ask ourselves, all right, what if it's not going to get easier? This is my new reality. How do I show up in this new reality? If you become that person, you're. You truly are going to become somebody who is incredibly resilient in your life and in your business no matter what. So for me, I was like, all right, I'm in that season two. I'm going to be going on a lake trip with my family in Minnesota here. And I, you know, called my mom and my sister and I said, hey, I just. I'm so excited to be with you guys. I just want you to know, the season of business I'm in right now, I'm probably going to be up early in the mornings just doing a little bit of work on my computer, Just giving you a heads up. So I'm communicating ahead of time. Like, hey, I just want you to know this is just what I'm doing. This is where I'm at. And then I'm going to make myself available for the rest of the day. Okay, fine. And understanding, like. And what helps us, too, is, like, I know it's not always going to be like this, but I know that this is what my business demands of me in this particular season. So I think sometimes we have to say, all right, what if this is my new normal? How do I show up? Okay, if this is the season I'm in, how do I show up? And. And I will say it does help to kind of look at things of seasons. Like, it's not always going to be like this, but while it is like this, this is how I'm going to set myself up for success in this season. I'm giving you an another example. As I was talking with my fitness coach, and, like, during the year I was doing, like, last year, I was doing 15,000 steps on average, and then that. And I'm not gonna lie to you guys, it takes a big chunk of my day. Like, that's two hours of walking on top of getting my fit, like, getting my lifting in. So we've had to adjust my. My routine, and I really wanted to keep losing my last, like, 15 pounds. And my coach is like, you know what, Kristen? Not every season is like a losing season, like a cutting season. Um, because that requires so much of your effort and your mental bandwidth. Like, maybe with what's going on in your business, we're in a maintenance season, and maybe that's the win. And that adjustment helped me a ton. Being like, all right, I'm going to learn to be somebody who maintains in a really busy season or has historically, you know, I stressy. I weight gain. It fluctuates. And I'm like, wow, I'm pretty proud that I've, like, only fluctuated five pounds in the. In a really stressful, crazy season. And so that's kind of adjusted those things. But then I also realized I'm like, okay, when I'm done with the season, then I'm going to be able to, like, focus on, you know, get back into my cut and all those things. And I realized I was saying that to myself for a good, like, five, six months. And I finally realized I'm like, I don't think this is going to be slowing down anytime soon. So if, again, same thing. What if this is my new reality and if this is my new reality and I still want to lose the last £15 knowing that I'm not going to like, how bad do I want it and what do I need to do different? So it's like, all right, what has to go? What has to change? I'm like, great, awesome. Now I have to wake up earlier. I'm going to have to let go of my nighttime late reading, and that's the only way I'm going to be able to get in these steps and make it happen instead of waiting for my life to slow. Slow down so that I could commit to my. So that I can commit to my fitness. Some of you guys are doing the same thing in your business. Like, when my life slows down, I can finally get commit to my business. Learn to work your business in the busiest season of your life, and you will become somebody who can work in any and all seasons, and you will truly nail consistency. But we tend to only want to set up our business when it's ideal, when it's perfect, when nothing else is distracting us, when the kids are back in school, when everyone's healthy, when there's no emergencies. You guys, that never happens. It's like when the planets align. So let's like, be honest with ourselves and say, all right, if this is a season where I'm dealing with some storms, I'm dealing with things that are a little crazy. How do I commit if this is my new normal? So I want you to take the stress and the chaos of whatever you're dealing with. Maybe you've got a couple more vacations coming up this summer. I've got vacations I've like, this is the most travel heavy year I have ever had, both with, like, family trips and the number of stages I'm on. I'm like, woof. All right, how am I doing this with my business? How am I doing this with my fitness? How am I making this. If this is my normal, how am I showing up for success in this? So, friends, if it's hard right now, instead of telling yourself when is it going to be less hard, and I just need to buckle down and wait until the hard passes, great. You can be that person or you can be the person that's like, it's hard now. So how do I set myself up with this being my new reality and my new normal? And if it happens to get easier, man, imagine what I can accomplish then. All right, friends, I hope you found this valuable.
