The word of God is so powerful, people, you don't want to miss today's broadcast because this is my primary thing I do. I'm a rabbi and I teach the word of God to you. And I'm telling you, there's an anointing on this when I get in there. Before I go there, I got to tell you, I'm looking at the headlines of what's happening with Donald Trump, with the tariffs here and the tariffs there. I just want to say something. I'm going into the eternal word right here. But before I do that, I'm watching the. The reordering of nations around the negotiations, what Donald Trump is doing, and I'm believing that he's going to be successful. I don't believe God's given us just a momentary reprieve. I think he's trying to give us a reframe and a reset for America. But that doesn't mean that there isn't crazy things happening. I watch gold, for instance, go up 46% like in the last year or 70% in the last two to three years is crazy. So I, I remember the financial advisor, I said, I regret the fact that I didn't listen to my own advice. I think this gold's gonna continue on its rise. I'm not a financial prognosticator, but I'll tell you something. I myself have taken investment into gold because I believe it's a safe haven. When there's global instability, as there is right now, that's where everyone's going. The banks are going there. China's going there. Russia's going there. Everybody's going to gold because the paper dollar is they won't deal with the debt in America. So go to lancewallnot.com do if you're looking for a return, what holds the value? More than 46% in the last year. My gosh. Go to lancewell.com gold get the report on what's happening, and you'll have peace of mind. You'll be glad you did. The information is all there on lancelot.com gold. They'll give you contact information. You can get the special report, and you'll understand why this is the smartest thing to do with an IRA retirement account. You can roll it over and it's just going to be able to build wealth for you. All right, let's get into today's program because I'm going to talk about preaching and casting out demons the way Jesus did. This will be an unusual broadcast. All right. Welcome to the Lance Wallnau show we are in the gospel of St. Mark. So grab your Bible, grab a pen, grab a cup of coffee, and we're burning through this Bible here, folks. We're still in chapter one, Gospel of Mark. Mark was the sister's son of Barnabas. He traveled with Peter. He was in Rome when Peter was teaching. And he recorded the firsthand account of what the apostle Peter taught. How do we know that? Because Peter refers to him in 1st Peter 5:13 as my beloved son, Mark. So Peter was with Mark. Mark learned his gospel directly from Peter, and which is why what you hear is the interpretation of Peter's experience with Jesus through his son in the faith, Mark. Now, as they came into Capernaum, chapter 1, verse 21, Jesus enters into a synagogue and begins to teach. This is interesting. And they were amazed at his teaching because he didn't teach kind of like in some dry, abstract way. He taught like someone who was speaking with authority. It's an interesting concept here. Imagine what it was like to be in a synagogue with Jesus teaching. Bam. You feel like you're experiencing the word of God speaking the words of God. Must have been. No wonder they said it had authority. Just then there was a man in the synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out. He says, what business do we have with each other? Jesus of Nazareth, have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God. And Jesus rebuked him. This is a kind of a curious verse. I wonder if it's if we'll find in Gospel of Luke an additional comment, which is the demon cries out and says, have you come to destroy us before the time? Which always struck me as interesting because the demons know that they have a set time. Most you don't realize this, but the earth has a set time period for man and man's rebellion. And even the demons knew, know that there's a point, boom, when Jesus is going to judge them. And here Jesus shows up 2000 years, let's say before the end time. They expected him, but they didn't expect him then. So they're freaking out, like, what are you doing here? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are. I know who you are. You are the Holy One of God. And they're trying to. They're saying they know who that guy is in the spirit, behind the veil of his humanity. They saw who they were dealing with. But Jesus rebuked them, said, shut up, be quiet, come out of him. And throwing him into convulsions. The unclean spirit Cried out with a loud voice and came out of him. They were all amazed and debated among themselves. What kind of new teaching is this? He commands unclean spirits and they obey him. And immediately the news spread everywhere throughout the surrounding district of Galilee. This is so interesting. People struggle so hard to get followers and likes on social media. They're called influencers if they have lots of people watching them do goofy stuff. And here Jesus has the secret of an instant social media following. It was word of mouth. He just had to start teaching and casting out demons. And everybody was talking about it. Immediately his fame spread. Bam. Interesting. And then we come down to verse 29. You're gonna find that word immediately, all the time in the Gospel of Mark, because Mark has this word he uses, like it's always the next things. It's got this sense of pace in his gospel. And immediately after they came out of the synagogue, he came into the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John. This is beautiful because you see Jesus, you see this in the chosen. I think it's a great aspect of what that series is. Caught a couple of things I like about it. And you could be a purist and say, well, I don't like how they did this and that. But on the whole it captures a lot that most people miss, which is Jesus went into the house and he goes into the home. He's in the disciples home. And now Simon's mother in law, his mother in law is lying sick with a fever. And immediately there's that word again. They spoke to Jesus about her and he came to her and raised her up, taking her by the hand and the fever left her. Was that a spirit that left her? Was it the sickness that left her? We don't know. But in the context of all this, it's like spirits just have to exit when they're in his presence. And she got up and actually went to the kitchen and started going to work, waited on them. Now when evening came, after the sun had set, they, they began bringing him all who were ill and those who were demon possessed. Imagine this. Everyone is crazy, everyone who's insane, everyone who's got a mental disorder. And they're lining them up out there and all the whole city. Apparently there was a lot. There's a lot of people that have meant, have spirits bothering them. Now think about this. We don't see a lot of deliverance nowadays. You know why? It's just, yeah, your fame will spread, but so will all the negative press. But the whole city is gathered at the door a Whole lot of sickness and a whole lot of demons. And he healed many who were ill with various diseases and cast out many demons. And he was not permitting the demons to speak. Cause they knew who he was. Here's the irony. The religious leaders of the day didn't know who he was, but the devil knew who he was. Think about that. And in the early morning, while it was still dark, a great while before day, Jesus got up, left the house, went to a solitary place, and he was there praying. So now you get the lifestyle of Jesus. Early in the morning, sun comes up there in the Middle east by what, 5am, first light comes out. He's up at like 2, whatever, 2.30am about when I'm going to bed. Shows why my life needs to get more, like, aligned. He's getting up when I'm going to bed and he's going out and praying. And he's out there praying in a solitary place. Get away from the crowd. Why? Well, you find out in Hebrews, he lifted up his voice with loud crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death. And he was heard and that he feared God. He had a verbal. He had to get away from, from, from earshot pretty much so that he could pray without being overheard and interrupted. And Simon and his companions went on a search party. Where is he? He got up, he snuck out. Everyone's looking for you. They said, well, of course he left the crowd looking for him. Probably showed up the next day, right at breakfast. Boom, there they are at the door. And he said to them, let's go somewhere else, to the towns nearby so that I could preach there also. That's why I came. Well, that tells you what he got in prayer. The Father said, time to go. Go to the surrounding villages and teach, teach, teach. Fill those villages with your teaching. And he went out into their synagogues. So at this point, he's going to where he's welcome in the synagogues in the surrounding areas throughout all Galilee. And then what are the two things he's doing? This is crazy preaching and casting out the demons. Preaching and cast. Which tells you really good preaching and really good teaching puts pressure on the devil. And really good teaching and really good preaching puts pressure on the devil that's afflicting you. So if you get an agreement with God regarding what you're hearing in the teaching and the preaching, you come out of agreement with the devil and the devil has to leave. You want to know the secret of getting delivered? Get under the. Get under the power of the word. Of God. Get under the power of powerful preaching and teaching on the word of God. It will put pressure on your conscience to fall out of agreement with the devil. I read something today by this guy that wrote this book about maximized manhood. Cole. His name was Edwin Lewis Cole. Kind of a classic book. He said the hardest thing to get men to do is to admit they're wrong. That's coming to my mind right now for a reason. The hardest thing for some of us, hearing what I'm preaching now, is to admit we're wrong. So that's why you have to be under this constant pressure of the word of God. Cause that pressure is like a straight line. And every time you deviate from that line, you're outside of God's word. So that line keeps putting pressure on you until you put pressure on the devil. That means you're in agreement with God, you admit you're wrong. What does it mean to repent? It's to admit you're wrong. And Jesus went out and preached everywhere that men should admit they're wrong. And if they've admitted they were wrong, they come under the influence of his blessing. And now healing and deliverance happens because you're lined up with. With what's right or what's righteousness. This making sense to you. They called it a new teaching. The problem was nobody was actually teaching the right stuff. They thought it was novel. So anyway, we come back over here to a leper, comes to Jesus, and I'm in verse 40 now, still in chapter one. And he falls on his knees before him and says, if you're willing, you can make me clean. Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him and said, I'm willing be cleansed. And immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed. Now Jesus starts to do something very interesting. He does it all the time. He warns him. He warns him not to say anything. See that you say nothing to anyone. But go show yourself to the priests. Offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded as a testimony. But the guy went out and proclaimed everywhere what Jesus had done and spread the news about him. Now, why was Jesus telling. It's a mystery to me why he would tell individuals not to say anything when so many of the miracles were done in front of other people. And I think it's explained in this verse. Certain. My theory is certain. Miracles and healings would have the effect of a disproportionate broadcasting in such a way that he couldn't maneuver anymore. He couldn't get into the synagogues, he couldn't get into the villages. He'd be thronged and mobbed and create a traffic jam that made it hard for him to do his work. Why do I say that? Because it says in verse 45, the guy with the leprosy that got healed, went out immediately, proclaimed, and spread the news around to such an extent. There it is. Jesus could no longer publicly enter a city. He had to stay out in the wilderness, unpopulated places. And out there in the wilderness, they came to him from miles around and from everywhere. Like Woodstock out there in upstate New York. They all made a beeline. Wherever he is, the mob would find out and they would find him. Now he's no longer able to get access to the synagogues. He couldn't speak to the teachers and the preachers. He couldn't get his message out to the Jewish leadership. And now he's going to have even greater opposition because of their jealousy and confusion over what he's doing. That's a fact. And he knew that. So. Oh, I got 38 seconds here. So when he came back to Capernaum several days afterward, it was heard that he was at home. So he has a house. He has a house. He's got a home. He's trying to go back to his house. This is like the real Jesus. And many were gathered together, so there was no longer any room, not even near the door, and there was no longer any room. What does that mean? The Bible says in another verse, I'll show you, not even to eat. That means the kitchen's crowded. You can't even get over to the plates and the sink. And Jesus is compassionate and he's continuing to minister to them all. Listen, I'm gonna take a break right now. We're gonna be right back. We're entering a period of time that has increased hostility and against people of faith. It's a time when Christians are going to be tested on a moral, physical, psychological, and even a financial basis. I'm here to remind you that God is the one who has blessed you thus far, and he will take care of you in the future. You have a divine responsibility, however, to see trouble and prepare yourself. For example, with record inflation eating away at the value of the US Dollar, the savings in your retirement account is in danger of slipping away. I Recommend diversifying your 401k or IRA out of paper assets and into physical gold. And the best way to do that is with a gold IRA from Birchgold Group. And that includes no penalties, there's no taxes when you transfer current retirement funds into Birch Gold to see how it works, I want you to go to lancewellnut.com birch and get your free info kit. And you'll. You'll be glad that you did. So I think all the gospel writers refer to certain events that happened. So there must be some significance in some of these miracles, because there was this moment happens where they bring to Jesus a paralytic man carried by four men who's unable to get to him because of the crowd. So they removed the roof above him. This is like, I guess it's a thatched hut structure. And you can just see all of this stuff, debris coming down while he's teaching. It's not like you're gonna continue preaching. Everybody's gonna be. I'll tell you what it's like with the crowd. Everybody looks like that. If you walk in with a whiteboard on the stage, Everybody watches the whiteboard coming. So they're all looking up like this. Even Jesus, he's realizing, well, we have visitors. And they dug an opening. Isn't that nice? So they damaged the guy, the roof of the home or the place, probably at this point, maybe they're in a synagogue. I'll have to do a little exegesis on that and see what's happening. But there's Pharisees there and Sadducees there. So I think it's a synagogue at this point. And Jesus sees them tearing open the roof, and he sees their faith. He doesn't see the damage to the property. He says, son, your sins are forgiven. This is a mystery verse. We got to slow down here. He's watching these guys lowering the man into his presence. He's paralyzed. They can't get him in through the doors because the aisles are jammed. Can't get him from outside because the place is packed out. Everybody's at the windows. They go to the roof. But he says, I see faith. He saw something in them. And then he says something different. He says, you, sins are forgiven. This is different than saying you're healed. He's about to heal him, but he says, your sins are forgiven. But some of the scribes were sitting there, reasoning in their hearts, saying to themselves, why does this man speak that way? That's blasphemy. That's blasphemy, and I can understand that. Think about it. If you don't know it's God talking, who does this guy think he is that he is forgiving sins? Only God can do that. Aha. They should have been questioning. If only God can do it. Let's keep listening to what he's teaching. Let's see what he's doing. Because maybe this is a God man, and we're just. We're misreading it. So Jesus. So they're saying in their heart, he's blaspheming. And meanwhile, Jesus is here. In the distraction of debris falling, the guy coming down in front of him lowered. Everybody watching the Pharisees there on the front row, scowling, how could he say that? Watch verse eight. Immediately, Jesus, aware in his spirit that they were reasoning that way within themselves, says, why are you reasoning about these things in your heart? What's easier to say to this paralytic? Your sins are forgiven. That's just words. Or wouldn't it be a little more challenging to say, get up, pick up your pallet and walk? Now that would be. That would be a challenge, wouldn't it? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins, he turns to the paralytic and says, I say to you, it's beautiful. This is the Son of Man, he's saying, not them, not quoting the Torah. Now, this is me. I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet, go home. And he. He got up, picked up his pallet immediately and went out of their sight, the sight of everyone. He took off. It's interesting, that fancy figure. I'm going to act on that word. And so they were all amazed and were glorifying God, saying, we've never seen anything like that. But of course, what do you think the Pharisees were saying? They're saying, this blasphemer's got a miracle ministry. If we don't stop him and destroy him, he's going to. He's got. He's going to defile the whole country with his crazy teaching. This is setting up Jesus for his. His execution. But what I want you to catch, and the part that. That I think is worth looking at here, is that Jesus is saying, if I say you're forgiven, you're forgiven. Because it's harder to say, here's a miracle for your body, but here's this. Here's a miracle for your body. Boom. Now you can assume that when I say you're forgiven, you're forgiven. So they should go back and rethink their question. They were saying, only God alone can forgive sins. Well, God alone, God the Father told Jesus what to do. The Father got Jesus into trouble. Jesus did what the Father showed him. And now they're having A problem with God. You see how this works? The part I want you to catch here is this little detail you could miss. And immediately, verse 8. Jesus Aware in his spirit that they were reasoning. Thus, what does that mean? That means that this is the little detail here that I think is worth exploring. Man is a tripartite being. He's got a spirit, he has a mind and he has a body. A lot of us are living in thinking, like when it talks about reasoning in your heart. What they're doing is they're reasoning in their soul. They're reasoning in their soul, their mind. How can anybody do this except God? But Jesus picked up their internal dialogue in his spirit. There are times you'll notice in Jesus ministry where in the spirit he's dealing with things. He's getting what Kenneth Hagin called inside information. I always love that when you have words of knowledge, words of wisdom, when you get. When you have God speak to you while you're in a situation, that's called inside information. But his spirit was what picked it up. So Jesus wasn't operating out of his reasoning, he was operating out of his spirit informing his reasoning. And that's the way the prophetic flowed in his ministry. By the way, you, you're called to have discerning of spirits also. Your spirit discerns spirits, your mind doesn't. You can have people that are faking you out, ripping you off, but your spirit will pick up on what's counterfeit. Does that make sense? So he goes on and leaves that place. And immediately he passes by and he sees Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting in the tax booth. And he says, follow me. And he gets up and follows him. And it happened that as he was reclining in table in his house and many tax collectors and sinners were dining with Jesus and his disciples. For there were many of them, they were all following him, many tax collectors and sinners. This is the beautiful thing about Jesus ministry. And it's challenging for us that we should never be so polarizing that we aren't attracting tax collectors and sinners. I remember a guy in New York once, his name was Tony d', Onofrio, great bishop up there in Long Island. He said something with dramatic effect one day. He said, I hope we never get to the place where we don't have homosexuals here in church. I hope we never get to the place where we don't have drug addicts in church. Hope we never get to the place where we're so holy here that we don't have any Prostitutes here in church. And he was making a great point that Jesus attracts to him publicans and sinners. And somehow, without compromising what he teaches, he draws people towards him. That's a beautiful attribute. God, may you grant to us that attraction that Jesus had so that people that are hungry for you will not be offended by us, but rather will find something intriguing about the way we model your life and your words for others in Jesus name. So Jesus goes on and corrects the Pharisees who are critical of him. He says, you know, it's not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. I didn't come to call the righteous, but sinners. That's a fascinating tongue in cheek comment because they're all sinners. Therefore he's not calling the righteous or the self righteous. He's calling those that can admit they're wrong. That's what I was talking about earlier. So they go into a discussion then about John's disciples. And the disciples of the Pharisees fast. But your disciples aren't fasting. And so they're trying to pick apart his disciples. They couldn't pick apart him, so they picked apart his. What did I call them? I call them like his working class, you know, students who were following him that he chose, he says, while the bridegroom is with them. The attendants of the bridegroom can't fast, can they? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they can't fast. But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them and. And then they will fast in those days. Then he goes on to talk about, you don't put new wine into an old wineskin, it destroys it. You gotta put new wine into a new skin. He's starting a new movement. He's gonna have new people. He's gotta have the unreligious that he can fill with a fresh perspective. Cause it takes so much energy to unlearn the wrong thing. It's kind of interesting. There are very few Apostle Paul's who come along who are totally steeped in one way of thinking, who can flip it and use it to clarify the new thinking. I remember there was. There was a marine colonel named Mark Barkley. I think he's still preaching. And he said that when he was in the Marines, he was in charge of training for how to use the equipment. Whether that was, you know, warehouse equipment or other, you know, heavy, heavy industry equipment. And he was going to teach them how to. How then to work with artillery and other Stuff. And he would say to the recruits, how many of you are trained already and licensed in how to drive trucks, how to drive diesel, how to work with, you know, heavy equipment? How many of you are licensed for that? And they put their hands up and says, okay, you leave. And then he turned to the other people that had no knowledge at all. He said, all right, I'm going to teach you the marine way of how to do it. What's he saying? I never forgot that it's easier to take a novice and teach them the right way to do something than it is to take someone who thinks they're an expert and teach them a different way. Let me say that again. It's easier to take a novice and train them in the right way than it is to take someone who's a self styled expert and reeducate them on your way. Cause the whole time you're doing it, they're gonna be fighting you in their head, thinking their old way is better, the way they. And that's what Jesus says. He says, no one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, otherwise the patch pulls away once it goes in the laundry and it tears it up and then the hole's worse. No one puts new wine into old wineskins, otherwise the wine will burst the skins and the wine is lost and the skins as well. But one puts new wine into fresh wineskins. Luke adds the sentence, because immediately they say, the old way's better, the old wineskins better. So I'm saying this to you because God is a new move. I don't care what experiences you've had so far. If you can approach this fresh moment of Jesus moving in history, you can actually make yourself available to be a new wineskin. The upper room was 120 new wineskins, all filled with the Holy Spirit. And God wants to take you right now and make you a new wineskin filled with his spirit. And I've got some things I want to share with you. And we'll be covering that in our other broadcasts. But. But I've got something. I've got some new material, new wineskin, teaching on what God is doing now in the Return of the Line. Jesus is coming back. He's already starting. You can already hear the shaking as things shake is because Jesus is coming back. And I've got a book I wanna give to you called the Return of the Lion.
