Stephen Colbert
Hey, everybody. Stephen Colbert here about to read the copy for our sponsor. This is from our friends at Wonderful Pistachios. And I was the wonderful pistachio spokesman for years. Yeah, I have a real close association with nut meat. Okay. You know what they say when they reach for a snack? Don't hold back. And that's exactly the approach with Wonderful Pistachios. The don't hold back snack. These little wonders are so tasty, it feels like getting away with something. But surprise. Each serving has 6 grams of protein and 0 grams of regret. That's right. No guilt. Just glory, glory in our nuts. Whether it's a satisfying crack of in shell pistachios, and that's capitalized in shell, or the smooth, instant gratification of no shells. No judgment. That's just it. Just eat. No judgment. I take issue with one thing. It's instant gratification. It's super tasty smooth.
Jon Batiste
It's a hard nut smooth.
Stephen Colbert
Exactly. I mean, even out of the shell, it's still a nut.
Jon Batiste
We can't disparage the nuts.
Stephen Colbert
You. I'm not disparaging the nut. I'm describing the nut.
Jon Batiste
Don't disparage any flavors.
Stephen Colbert
I'm not. I am celebrating the pistachio right now. I'm on board. I love pistachios.
Bad Bunny
I love.
Stephen Colbert
I love crushed pistachio. Like a pistachio crusted trout. Oh, unbelievable. Instead of a trout amandine, a trout pistachio. Fantastic. Enough butter? Who cares?
Jon Batiste
Very good.
Stephen Colbert
And I love pistachio ice cream.
Jon Batiste
Have you had the sea salt and vinegar? Wonderful pistachio. It's delicious. I get em.
Stephen Colbert
I didn't even know I get them.
Jon Batiste
Before the softball games.
Stephen Colbert
But that's. You see, it's been a while since I've been the spokesman for wonderful pistachios. I didn't realize we'd achieved new pistachio technology.
Jon Batiste
Yeah. Yeah.
Stephen Colbert
Wow. Wonderful pistachios has every snack style covered. Right now. There's an obsession with jalapeno lime. There is an obsession session. It's almost a disorder. It's spicy, it's zesty. It's basically a flavor roller coaster in a nut. Snacking on the go. Grab a bag of no shells. Feeling contemplative and want to work for it a little. So earning it, they're saying if you want to earn your nut, crack open those in shell beauties. Either way, it's snacking like a champ. So the next time hunger strikes, don't hold back. Unless it's a hunger strike. And Then it's important that you do, because whatever you're doing that for, I'm sure it's a worthwhile cause. Snack like you mean it with wonderful pistachios. Visit wonderfulpistachios.com to learn more.
Jon Batiste
That was a wonderful.
Stephen Colbert
I wonder what more there is to learn. We just told them so much. We just told them so much about pistachios, but evidently there's a whole other world. There's an unexplored vista.
Jon Batiste
They got a bunch of flavors. They got dill pickle, jalapeno lime, as we learned, smoky barbecue. There's a lot of different flavors.
Stephen Colbert
Wow. And I would not disparage any of them.
Jon Batiste
No, no, no.
Stephen Colbert
Bring it on.
Jon Batiste
Nothing bad to say.
Stephen Colbert
Nut me, nut, nut me with nut meat.
Jon Batiste
We're nut.
Stephen Colbert
No, we got nothing but nut. Nutty, nutty, nutty, nutty. Talk about, talk about, talk about, talk about nutty. Good.

Everyone, there's a wonderful crowd. There's a wonderful crowd tonight. Thank you so much because everyone wants to go to the zoo to see the endangered animal now. Welcome, welcome, one and all. Welcome over there. Welcome to the Late Show. I'm your host, Stephen Colbert. It is a great day, I tell you. I'm in a great mood. You guys feeling okay? I do, too. It's a great day to be me, because I am not Donald Trump. That guy has got a lot of problems. First of all, the Jeffrey Epstein scandal just won't kill itself. And we might have a hint why Trump hasn't been that eager to release those files. Because according to Senator Dick Durbin, Back in March, 1,000 FBI agents were put on 24 hour shifts to review approximately 100,000 Epstein related records and instructed to flag any documents that mentioned Donald Trump. That is a suspiciously herculean effort. Okay, all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't hide who Dumpty humped with his friend. Now, there you go. There you go. You got it. Love the flying voice. Even MAGA is demanding answers. Eleven congressional Republicans have said they will join Democrats to vote to release the Epstein files. That would be a majority of Congress. So, in response today, Speaker Mike Johnson shut down the House until September to block a vote on the Epstein files. It's a common parliamentary maneuver known as you can't blame. You cannot blame Trump and his allies for being scared here, because the more we know about Trump's relationship with Epstein, the more we wish we didn't. According to court records, Trump flew on Epstein's plane at least seven times. Now, that doesn't mean he did anything illegal, but it's not a great look. When you fly on the pedophile's plane enough times to earn diamond pervert status. Don't go in the lounge. Don't use the lounge. Some of his allies are actually defending those trips. Take Tennessee representative and cover star of tell your mom I'm doing great magazine, Tim Burchett. Burchett went on not one, but two Sunday shows to say this.
Tim Burchett
On Sunday, you've got innocent people on those flight logs that flew. President Trump has admitted he flew on those flights and dozens of other Americans I'm sure rode. I would give everybody a caveat or that's a big word, but a warning that just because somebody flew on a plane doesn't mean they're a dead gun pedophile.
Stephen Colbert
Nice try, buddy, but you can't folksy your way out of this one. Your honor, my client is not responsible for all those doggone corpses they found covered in all that gosh darn gobbledygook. He just picked up the dagum axe, headed to the nursing home, and chopped up the whole kitten caboodle. My client pleads catawampus. The defense sets a spell. Burchett. Burchett. Kept folksing.
Tim Burchett
I know a lot of wealthy people, Jake, and they fly on these dadgum planes. Private planes. If one's broke down, they say, hey, I got a seat on this guy's plane. You want to ride with us to New York? And that's what happens.
Stephen Colbert
Okay, that's an argument that will surely resonate with the average American. What's that? The private jets on the fritz. Uh, see if Jeff Epstein's got room. The only thing worse than flying with a pedophile is sitting in coach. Plus now a lot of other stuff. Coach, coach plus now a lot of other stuff from Trump's creepy past is resurfacing. Like this clip of Trump on the Howard Stern show back in 2006.
Bad Bunny
Do you think you could now be banging 24 year olds?
Donald Trump
Oh, absolutely.
Stephen Colbert
Would you do it? I have no problem. Yeah.
Bad Bunny
Do you have an age limit or would you.
Stephen Colbert
No, no, I have no age. I mean, I have an age limit. I don't want to be the upper.
Donald Trump
Bracket fully with, you know, 12 year olds.
Stephen Colbert
Wow. That is not a great answer. That's one of those questions where you don't want to leave any ambiguity. So would you have sex with an animal? Certainly not a horse. Good day. Stay. That appearance on Stern is just a small taste of his long public history of purvitude. And it all makes it so hard to accept Donald Trump's Epstein denials. I mean, it would be easier to accept sir Mix a lot. Releasing. I never visited Big Butt Island. We know you're lying. Of course. Whenever Trump is backed into a corner, he needs to change the subject and throw red meat to the carnivorous base. And their favorite cut is filet of Obama. Here's Trump earlier today being asked about the ongoing Epstein scandal.
Donald Trump
Yeah, I don't know about it. I don't really follow that too much. It's sort of a witch hunt. Just a continuation of the witch hunt. The witch hunt that you should be talking about is they caught President Obama absolutely cold. Now, we found absolute. This isn't like evidence or this is like proof, irrefutable proof that Obama was sadatious.
Stephen Colbert
Wow. Wow. I mean, it takes extraordinary confidence to call a former president sedatious, because that is not a word. Yes, it was. He was sedacious. He would sedate everyone around him with those long pauses of his, and then, boom. He and Michelle would come in and steal the election with a series of thoughtful Netflix documentaries. Trump has been pushing this Obama thing for a few days now, and it's just as awful as you expect. This weekend, he posted fake AI video showing Obama being arrested. Now, we have the video, but it's incredibly disturbing. So let's watch it. There's Obama. Fake FBI agents are arresting him while Trump grins. What the is wrong with this guy?
Bad Bunny
That.
Stephen Colbert
Seriously, what is. You got the thing, right? You got the thing. That is an insane thing to post. If you or I put up an AI video depicting the violent arrest of a former president, we would get a free ride in a windowless van to FBI headquarters, where they would put us to work redacting Trump's name from the Epstein files. Even more disturbing. Even more disturbing, the whole video is set to the song ymca. Oh, my God. Trump thinks that's a real cop in the band. Hold on. I'm calling the police right now. And his backup, horny construction worker and sex cowboy. Hello, village policeman. Yes, I need your help. And please bring Leather daddy. What's that? Well, wake him up today. In that fantasy, they all live together today. Thank you. Today. Should I do the rest? Should I do the rest? Today, Trump defended that video and made it much, much worse.
Donald Trump
Whether it's right or wrong, it's time to go after people.
Stephen Colbert
Okay? With that in mind, just a word of warning to any Americans who identify as people to drive the point home. Yesterday, the official White House account tweeted this image of Trump with the caption, I was the hunted, now I'm the hunter. Oh, my God. It sounds like he's going to eat the American people. He's going to turn us into nuggets. And I've got sensitive skin. It can't handle honey mustard. Speaking of food. Speaking of food, it's time to talk about the elephant in the room, which in this case is a cow, because the subject is beef. According to the Department of Agriculture, beef prices are soaring in the US and have climbed to record highs. Dear God, it's a beef emergency. Bee, I've been preparing for this beef. Get back. It's mine. Oil and hair, according. Oh, my God. I'll save the rest of that for never. According to leading meat economists, in the past year, the average price of a pound of ground beef rose nearly 12%, and the average price of all uncooked beef steaks rose 8%, which explains Arby's new slogan. Arby's, we have the bun. So. So beef now. More money. Why? Well, I like to keep things simple sometimes. Well, there's climate change, which causes droughts, but also lean beef trimmings come from Brazil, where Trump has threatened tariffs as high as 50%. 50%. Forget beef. We won't be able to afford anything. Brazil. Now you're gonna have to settle for a Kentucky butt lift. It's. What's the motto? Hold on. It's finger licking butt. We got a great show for you tonight coming up.
Bad Bunny
Bad bun.

Welcome back, everybody. My first guest is a global music superstar currently in the middle of a 30 show residency his home of Puerto Rico. Starting this Friday, you can see him alongside Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore 2. Please welcome to the late show, Bad Bunny. Hey, so nice to have you here.
Bad Bunny
No, thank you.
Stephen Colbert
As you can tell, everybody's excited. Clear something up for me right off the top here is that the world knows you as Bad Bunny. Okay. But I am told that to refer to you as Benito.
Bad Bunny
Okay.
Stephen Colbert
So that's what your friends call you is Benito.
Bad Bunny
Yeah.
Stephen Colbert
Okay, so educate me here. Okay. I'm grandpa over here. All right, Educate. What's the word? Abuelo.
Bad Bunny
Abuelo. Abuelo.
Stephen Colbert
Abuelo. Okay. Is it just a stage name or. Or is Bad Bunny like a slightly different person?
Bad Bunny
Well, definitely a stage name.
Stephen Colbert
Is it a Persona like you do become a different. Are you slightly different as Bad Bunny as opposed to used to be?
Bad Bunny
I think at the very beginning it was more like Bad Bunny was a character. But me and I've been, you know, growing up and I think there's more about Benito on Bad Bunny.
Stephen Colbert
And so you're peeking up, Benito's peeking out from behind.
Bad Bunny
Yeah. I learned that there's nothing better than be yourself. Most like in life. But in art, music, be yourself. You're the best. So Benito, Iba, Bonnie, they are the same. Maybe, maybe when I'm on stage, Bad Bunny is like more, I don't know Confident and powerful. I feel different, but. But it's something about to be on stage and it's about the connection with the crowd.
Stephen Colbert
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You get that energy from that.
Bad Bunny
Yeah, it's like.
Stephen Colbert
And it amplifies you.
Bad Bunny
Yes, yes, yes.
Stephen Colbert
Wow. Okay. You're currently in New York as obviously, but you're based in Puerto Rico. We're in the middle of, as I said before, a 30 day residency celebrating your new album right here. Yes. Debit. The new album is debit. Mas. Photos. I should have taken more photos.
Tim Burchett
Yes.
Stephen Colbert
Let's, let's get a taste of one of these shows. Jim, so you've been performing, so obviously you, you play to huge crowds all over the world. What's it like for you to be playing to this enormous, incredibly enthusiastic crowd with your other fellow Puerto Ricans?
Bad Bunny
It's always different. I love to perform everywhere around the world. Latin America, Mexico, Argentina, Republic of Dominicana. I love to perform here in USA with all the Latino community and all the fans around the world. But performing at home with my people, with my Puerto Ricans, it always feels different. It's always different. You know, it's like, it's like a family reunion. Especially, especially these shows, these residency shows feel very like we more united. United than ever. You know, it feels so. It's something magical to me.
Stephen Colbert
Well, I'm curious. What's a perfect day in Puerto Rico like for you?
Bad Bunny
For me?
Stephen Colbert
Perfect day. Wow.
Bad Bunny
I think a perfect day would be wake early, grab a coffee, do a little bit of workout, maybe go to the beach. 3pm, 4pm, a little bit of rain. That could be nice. A little bit of rain and then the suns come out again at 5 to set up one of the most beautiful sunset in the world and then have a nice dinner. If I have good luck, I have a nice, you know, and, and then just go to bed and go to bed early. Like 10pm, go to sleep. Oh my God.
Stephen Colbert
Because there's nothing like a little sleep after, eat after.
Bad Bunny
Yeah, yeah.
Stephen Colbert
You know, after you box a very short person. Could you teach me. Could you teach me some. My, I don't really. My Spanish is not good, but could you teach me some Puerto Rican slang?
Bad Bunny
Puerto Rican slang. And we, we, we are creating new slangs every day. I'm gonna teach you one of the most maybe basics.
Stephen Colbert
Teach me the word first and then tell me what it means.
Bad Bunny
Okay. That comes from pitch, you know, like pitch from piche. It's like to ignore or keep with. Skip something.
Stephen Colbert
Like skip, skip something. Skip something, throw it away. Yeah, like Pichera.
Bad Bunny
Yeah, Pichera. I don't want to talk about that. Picher. You know, something like that.
Stephen Colbert
Right? Yeah. Right, right. Okay. Anything else?
Bad Bunny
We have asicalao. Azicalao.
Stephen Colbert
Asicalao.
Bad Bunny
Asicalao.
Stephen Colbert
Oh, yeah.
Bad Bunny
Oh, you have like a nice accent. Yeah, that's pretty good.
Stephen Colbert
Thank you very much.
Bad Bunny
Thank you very much.
Stephen Colbert
I'm good at bull.
Bad Bunny
Azicalao. Like, look fresh. Like, you know, like.
Stephen Colbert
Oh, asicalao.
Bad Bunny
Yeah, you look asicalao right now with your suit. Yeah. You are a cicalao.
Stephen Colbert

Bad Bunny

Stephen Colbert
Oh, a mess.
Bad Bunny
Like a mess. Like, this is a revolu, you know?
Stephen Colbert
Yeah, revolu.
Bad Bunny
Yeah, Piche.
Stephen Colbert
You're pretty good.
Bad Bunny
I like it very much.
Stephen Colbert

Come back with Bad Bunny or as I know him, Bonito. Now you're in Happy Gilmore 2, which is great. I can't wait to see it. I'm an original recipe. I'm an Original Recipe Happy Gilmore fan from back in the day. So Hans Sandler was here last night. He's such a lovely guy. Like everything knows about he's this huge star, but he's just the same he's ever been, never changed. Very sweet, very thoughtful. What was it like meeting him for the first time?
Bad Bunny
It was great. It was such a great experience. Cause he's my favorite. I love comedy movies and he's my favorite comedy actor. And I've been in a lot of Lakers game, but I never saw him before. I was like, I have seen every celebrity on these Corsair games and I never seen my biggest, like Adam Sandler. So I was there in one of those games and I saw him in the other side of the court and I freaked out. I was like, no way. I was with my friend. Like, no way. He's here. He's who?
Stephen Colbert
Who?
Bad Bunny
You know who I'm talking about. And at the student, we was like watching the game and I was, every time that I could, like, trying to sneak to him, like, oh, yeah. And the student, he just said like, we made eye contact and he did like, bro. I was wearing glasses. Cause I was. I started to cry. Yeah. On courtside. Courtside. And I was a little tipsy, so I got emotional and I was like, no way. He know who I am. He know me. He know me. And I was so excited. And then we met through text. And the rest is history now on this movie. And I feel like, I feel so happy.
Stephen Colbert
How was the premiere last night? Did you go to the premiere last night?
Bad Bunny
It was great. It was fun. I watched the movie for the first time because everyone was always telling me, like, you are hilarious in the movie. You did a great job, everyone. And I was like, everyone already watched the movie but me. Like, okay, I gotta wait till the premiere.
Stephen Colbert
So let's watch a little bit right now. This is you with Sandler. You're playing his caddy yeah, I'm his caddy. And you've brought a little extra something that he didn't expect.
Bad Bunny
Uh huh.
Stephen Colbert
All right. Jim, who's this?
Bad Bunny
Oh, he's Esteban. My car.
Stephen Colbert
Steven. Steven, Nice to meet. No, no, no. You don't get a caddy. Caddies don't get caddies. I'm sorry.
Bad Bunny
Can he play?
Stephen Colbert
What do you mean, he play? He's not. This is the pro tournament. No, no, no. I'm sorry. He's gotta go.
Bad Bunny
There you go.
Stephen Colbert
Now you are.
Bad Bunny
You have a very funny scene.
Stephen Colbert
Benito, you're known for your bold fashion choices. I just want to throw a couple things up here. You've worn some fabulous clothes over the years earlier. Here's some of your looks. Unbelievable. Love that crown. Okay, There you go. There's one. Look at. Check that out. Look at that. Unbelievable. This is my favorite.
Bad Bunny
You like it?
Stephen Colbert
Yeah, this is my favorite right there. Look at that.
Bad Bunny
That's one of my favorite food.
Stephen Colbert
You look like a Spanish count or something like that. Here's pretty good. You got. There you go. You got dominoes on your fingers. There you go. This is the Met gala being all fancy, but here's where you broke people's brains. This is the Calvin Klein ad from last year. What was your family's reaction to this?
Bad Bunny
Well, my family. My mom already knew that he, like, she made a hot guy, so it wasn't nothing new for her. So.
Stephen Colbert
No, no, no. So I'm used to wearing a suit and a tie. I wear a suit and a tie basically for 20 years at work.
Bad Bunny
Oh, my God.
Stephen Colbert
But starting in May, I can wear anything I want, so. So I was hoping you brought a few things to kind of zhuzh me up a little bit here.
Bad Bunny
You look great.
Stephen Colbert
Well, thank you.
Bad Bunny
So if you want to steal wearing that for 20 more years, that could be.
Stephen Colbert
Oh, thank you.
Bad Bunny
Yeah.
Stephen Colbert
We have a couple. We have a couple of things here, but you brought a few things.
Bad Bunny
I brought a couple things. Let me see.

Okay. There you go.

In this segment, Stephen Colbert delves into the ongoing controversy surrounding former President Donald Trump and his connections to Jeffrey Epstein. Colbert highlights the recent efforts by Senator Dick Durbin, who announced that 1,000 FBI agents were assigned to scrutinize approximately 100,000 Epstein-related records, specifically targeting mentions of Trump (07:20). Colbert humorously critiques the intensity of this investigation, stating, “Back in March, 1,000 FBI agents were put on 24-hour shifts to review approximately 100,000 Epstein related records” (07:20).
Colbert references a statement by Tennessee Representative Tim Burchett, who attempts to downplay the significance of flying on Epstein's plane by saying, “Just because somebody flew on a plane doesn't mean they're a dead gun pedophile” (06:27). Colbert responds with sharp wit, mocking Burchett’s defense strategy and dismissing his attempts to mitigate Trump’s associations.
He further critiques Trump’s public statements, including Trump's attempt to deflect the Epstein scandal by attacking former President Obama. Colbert mentions a fabricated AI video posted by Trump depicting Obama being arrested, accompanied by the song "YMCA," and ridicules the absurdity of the content: “If you or I put up an AI video depicting the violent arrest of a former president, we would get a free ride in a windowless van to FBI headquarters” (11:04).
Colbert underscores the seriousness of the situation by mocking Trump’s deflection tactics and the spread of misinformation, emphasizing the gravity of the Epstein files and the implications of Trump’s past actions.
Timestamp: 16:51 – 32:25
Introduction and Background

Colbert inquires about the distinction between Bad Bunny’s stage persona and his real identity, Benito. Bad Bunny explains, “At the very beginning it was more like Bad Bunny was a character. But me and I've been, you know, growing up and I think there's more about Benito on Bad Bunny” (17:58). You're the best” (18:15).

Cultural Exchange and Slang
Colbert requests Bad Bunny to teach him some Puerto Rican slang. Bad Bunny enthusiastically shares terms like “Pichera” (to ignore or skip something) and “Asicalao” (look fresh), engaging in a playful language exchange that highlights the richness of Puerto Rican vernacular (22:23 – 24:16).
