It became their mission to develop a store that could open within three months even without infrastructure. And just when we were like, how are we going to accomplish this goal? We won the AT&T small business pond test ramp. That $50,000 got us over the finish line where we built the first AI powered grocery shipping container in the country. For Jaleayah, it's about building a legacy to show the world that you can solve any problem when you work together. Having the support of AT&T the city of Atlanta is huge. Sprite living track list the other day and immediately started arguing with myself. It was wild because records like California Love, Still Not a Player and Back then are so much more than words and songs. They're moments, their memories. Their snapshots of where hip hop was and where it's going. That's what Sprite gets they spent over 40 years celebrating artists who define the culture, and now they're turning the conversation over to the fans. And if you're like me, the real fun is getting into the why. Why does this song matter? Why did this line hit? Why did it change hip hop forever? Now, I can't promise you any answers, but with Sprite you'll have a good time figuring it out. Peace to the planet. Charlamagne Tha God Here we spend our whole lives building our names, putting them on businesses, homes, bank accounts, accomplishments, everything we've worked for. The problem is, while we're working to make our names worth something, data brokers are working to put a price on them. Data brokers collect our personal information and sell it off, sometimes for as little as 10 cents. And then what happens? Well, if it ends up in the wrong hands, identity thieves can use our info to open loans in our names, drain our investment and saving accounts, commit crimes in our name. And that's just the beginning. LifeLock's automatic data broker removal tool finds our exposed personal information and removes it from these data brokers. Lauren LaRosa
So there's a lady that is going viral right now, y'.
Toni Bratton
All.
Lauren LaRosa
This is a QVC anchor, and this woman, her name is Toni Bratton. Wow, that's crazy, because I got another story about Toni Braxton. Her name is Toni Bratton. She had a little slip up at work. Okay. She made a little oopsie at work. Let's take a listen. Because she was on air doing her live TV hit. She's there. She's promoting, you know, qvc. And for those of you guys who do not know, QVC is a shopping network. They promote, you know, various products, from fashion to beauty to home, throughout their. Throughout their segments. And it's so crazy because I. I tried twice to become a QVC anchor just because, like, it was such a stable job. And you're on tv, and it's right there. It's not too far from where I'm from in Delaware. So I may be 15 to 20 minutes out. I was like, okay, I could do this. It is a very rigorous audition process. They don't play about the look and feel of their. Of their host. But, yeah. So this woman is now going viral because of a blow job. Let's take a listen to show the
Toni Bratton
texture and this wave pattern again. It looks like you went and got a blow job at your blowout at your salon. And it looks beautiful, y'.
AT&T Advertiser
All.
Lauren LaRosa
I know, I know, I know, I know. Baby girl was embarrassed. Okay? I think it was more like a funny moment. And it's crazy because I'm one of those people that, like, my mind will be thinking one thing, and then, like, I'll literally do a whole nother or say a whole nother thing. And I can't explain why it happens sometimes, like, literally everybody around me, and sometimes it's because I'm moving too fast, but everybody around me knows this about me. Like, that is very likely to happen nine times out of ten with me. So her saying blow job over. She was trying to say blow out, like, hair blowout. They're promoting different hair products. And she's been in the business for 30 years. And, you know, she tried to play it off. She, like, keeps going. She pauses for a second. Y' all heard her, like, laugh a little bit. Now, what you guys can't see as she's laughing, at one point, she, like, goes down. Like, she sinks down behind, like, this, like, table that is set up in front of her because she immediately realized it's Live like you can't take the words back. Now let's take a listen to Tony Bratton, who TMZ did an interview with after this moment. Let's take a listen.
Toni Bratton
Well, you know, I've been doing television and the shopping channels for, like, almost 30 years now. So, you know, you would think it's old hat, and usually it is. But I know, like, in my case, sometimes you never really know what's going to come out of my mouth. I mean, because when we're doing a show, you're always. Your mind is going 50 directions. You're thinking of your models, you're thinking of the mannequin heads going through the colors. You're thinking of the next positioning to get all the information out to the customers that they're wanting, right? So your brain is really kind of multifunctioning and you're kind of in autopilot when you're talking because you've said this so many times. So the fact that when I said what I said, what I meant to say was a blow out, Obviously it didn't come out that way. And so at the moment it comes out, you almost say to yourself, I just say what I think I said, right? So it was one of those moments. And of course, you can't grab those words back. They're out there. So at the time I was thinking, and I tried to real quick correct it and say the correct terminology, a blowout at your salon. But by then, obviously everyone caught it. I was hearing snickering. And then, you know, when you're not supposed to laugh, it just makes it that much more funny. I got this morning the standard, Tony, we understand what happened during your show yesterday, and we really appreciate, and they're so kind. I mean, I've only been doing this for almost 30 years, so to have a blooper like this just innocently come out, you have to go with it. And as long as. As we all feel like we are, we're respectful, that nothing was intentional. And of course, it wasn't that in hindsight, they said, I hope you're able to not be mortified and that you can laugh about it today.
Lauren LaRosa
Let me tell y' all something. And people don't give it up for the girlies enough who be doing this live TV thing. I. So we do the Netflix Live at the Breakfast Club. But then at tmz, we used to TMZ Live, which was kind of live to tape, so certain things could be pulled out. But live TV or live hits, I used to do live affiliate hits like the local news channels to like dc. I did it to Philly one time or I would do Orlando a lot to like some of the Fox affiliates that TMZ had. Live hits ain't no joke, man. Now granted, I would have a prompter and I and I know with like QVC there's like prompter work and stuff like that that they do as well too. But a lot of it is just like you have experienced the products, you've spent some time with it. You talking through is not no joke. This is a pretty funny moment, though. And as y', all, if y' all couldn't tell by her voice, she's a very white lady. I'm glad it was just because when I I'm glad it was just blowjob, she said. Because y' all know every now and then on a a hot mic with a you know what I'm saying, you get some words that ain't supposed to be said. For real.
Charlamagne Tha God
She lying.
Lauren LaRosa
This is what I'm talking about. Literally. That was so on point and I didn't even plan that. He just walked in here because he, he, he poops every day at this time. You just never know what's going to happen in this business. But she handled it well, though. But it's going super, super viral, yo.

Listen to Good Mom's Bad Choices from the Black Effect podcast Network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Now let's get into Toni Braxton. Okay, now, I don't know if you guys remember, but some, like time back, Toni Braxton did Oprah. And I remember people were criticizing Oprah for this. She was talking to Oprah about, well, Oprah was talking to her about her spending. And it was. People basically felt like because she, Toni Braxton has filed for bankruptcy back in 1998, you know, she went through a battle with her record label over money. There's, like, people, you know, talking to her about her spending habits as well. But Toni Braxton has always done well for herself. But there is a story out right now that Toni Braxton has just resolved a six figure tax lien years after that infamous bankruptcy battle. So there was a federal tax lien that was placed on June 22nd of this year saying that Tony Braxton owed the IRS $598,000. Now, the way that the debt was broken down was there was a little bit over $69,000 that she owed for 2022, a little bit over 278,000 for 2023, and a bit over 250,000 that she owed for 2024, which equaled that 598,000. So a little bit under $600,000. That's almost a million. Um, but a rep for Toni Braxton is speaking out, saying that she resolved the bill. And I think, I mean, look, I know Toni Braxton also filed for bankruptcy back in 2010, um, because she was saying that she owed a lot of money to creditors. It seems like, you know, that. That issue with her label and, you know, that conversation, like, really kind of messed her up a bit. Um, she closed that second bankruptcy in 2015, though. But to me, it seems like, like, whenever I hear these stories of people that are, like, dealing with the bankruptcy things and trying to figure out things with money, it's like a learning process in real time. Like even me for myself. Like, when you set up business within everything, whether you're on camera making these little bloopers, or you on camera or behind a microphone, like Tony Braxton, like, there's a business to all of this. And a lot of what you're learning in Real time is literally in real time. Because for a lot of us, you know, those first hits of success, those first hits of those amount of money, it's your first time experiencing it. And even if you're in a family like the Braxton family, where you guys are able to pass down information and knowledge and all of the things, you're still doing things, you know, your situation is different than other people's. You're having to trust people to handle money, manage money. Like, that is the most frightening thing for me. Like, I think about it all the time. Like, and right now I'm actually trying to figure out, you know, like accountants and, you know, who I trust with taxes. And even with me, I was like. I told my manager, I'm like, yo, whoever's doing my taxes, I went, the literal proof, I want to know, I want to break down. And I don't want it from the firm. I want what they received from the IRS of what is old and what is to be paid. And then I want proof that it was paid. Like, sign still delivered. And I don't want it just from them. I want us to have our own outreach, like situation we do to the IRS to confirm what the firm is telling us. Because most of the people's stories I hear, and this isn't the case with Toni Braxton, because again, I mentioned, you know, that she went through a battle over money with her record label. But like, a lot of times when I hear people settling like. Like, you know, tax liens and all the things, it's. It's. A lot of it is like they weren't paying their taxes because not even. Because they just didn't have the money to pay it. But they might have had the money, but it was being mismanaged or people were taking the money they were supposed to be paying. I don't. I am so. I'm so scared to experience what I haven't experienced, although I'm so excited about it because I hear stories like this and even, you know, the battle with Toni Braxton in the label in the late. In 97, 98, she sued LaFace Records and Arista Records, Babyface, Babyface's label, through her first two albums. I'm sorry, she's to end her contract. She sued the Face Records and Arista Records, which people, you know will instantly associate with Babyface, to end her contract. So through her first two albums, though her first two albums generated an estimated $170 million. Her royalty rate left her making roughly 35 cents per album. So her High career expenses, recycled advances kept her in debt, leading for her to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 98. And again, I mentioned she had to file again in 2010, which was closed out in 2015. So she was earning, according to reports, 33 cents to 35 cents per album sold, despite being a multi platinum global success. And I say that, you know, people will associate, you know, arista Records and LaFace with Babyface and also L A Reid as well too. But it is definitely worth mention that mentioning that her issue wasn't with Babyface. Babyface was actually extremely supportive of Toni Braxton during the dispute. He actually testified in court about her deal being fair and helped her get to a settlement that the two, you know, were able to help. Like it, it helped her. And they later went on to collaborate successfully on their Grammy winning debut album, Love Marriage and Divorce. And tell her you could put this part in. Now there were reports during all of this, during, like, you know, that whole back and forth in, in you know, 9798 when she was suing the label LaFace Records and his parent company AR that La Reid had actually stopped taking her calls that they had like, you know, falling out about this. But they were able to resolve it. And again, as I mentioned, Babyface actually vouched for her and testified for her and reported that, you know, her multi billion, her multi. Her settlement, I mean, I'm sorry, her contract that she signed was unfair. And then there was a multi million dollar settlement that people believed to later have been revealed as $22 million in a Restra structured contract. She's had to sue managers like she's been through a lot. That's what I'm saying. Yo, this business is so crazy. I reported a story about Dame Dash and trustee over his current bankruptcy who has already stated that they don't really believe that he's bankrupt. And for those of you guys who don't know Dame Dash, but you should. But if not Dame Dash, you know, former music executive, he helped create Rockefeller with Jay Z discovered, you know, together they discovered Kanye west and so many other major things. Rockaware. So many things, right. He's been dealing with bankruptcy. And in those conversations and recently, as of July 6th, I'm sorry, as of August 6th, there was a trustee in the bankruptcy who's been investigating it that asked a judge to approve the sell of his life rights and to kind of set up some stipulations around what the life rights sale and or auction would be, you know, when, how it would go down if it would be a bid or auction or a sale, all of that. And they presented some parties involved. One of the parties, I think they're looking at anywhere from like 32 to $37,000 that has been offered for, for buying it. And this would mean, I mean this would mean everything. This would mean you, you get his image, his likeness, his voice, you get to tell his story. The doc says you get rights and ownership over his likeness, his image, his characteristics and events of his life from his childhood until the, until the petition date. And they also believe that he has a ton of different photos, videos from the 90s up until 2025 which would include, include a lot of that Rockefeller era. So it's a really big deal if this goes through and if this is sold. And the reason why they're doing this is because he is over $20 million in debt at this time. Across tax, you know, unpaid taxes. There's child support that is unpaid as well too. To one of his children's mothers like Dame Dash claimed that the reason why he was seeing so much debt, especially when it came to the taxes, because of what I mentioned earlier, he has somebody paying his bills. That wasn't. This is what he's claiming. Let's take a listen of when Dame Dash was on the Breakfast Club some months ago. 650k in child support. That's listed in the bankruptcy. That's child support, right?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
How did you get there with having that amount unpaid?
Dame Dash
I've been paying $250,000 a year in child support for the last 25 years. If I tell you all my kids went to college for free, they all live in houses and I pay a 250 a year in child support. So my kids salary is probably as much as yours. And I'm broke. Yeah, I'm broke because I give it all to my family. Rich people have family offices. You don't put things in your name. You have a family office. When I'm behind on child support it always gets paid or I went to jail. The last time I was behind it was a million. I paid it. That sounds broke to you. If all my children and I pay their colleges up front, they don't have debt. That sounds broke to you? Every one of my baby mothers has two or three houses. That sounds broke to you? It's not about me or certain people I know. I'll google them. They have no money. I googled the family office. $10 billion. Rich people don't put anything in their name. But you don't know that And I feel sorry for you because you don't get to see the day.
Lauren LaRosa
I am not trying to get here, but you know the guys Charlemagne and they always say you don't laugh, you learn. And that's what I mean. Like, when I read these stories, I'm always like, okay, so wait, what happened? What happened? Like, how can I make sure these things don't happen always here? You know, you just got to get really good people around you and trust people. But it's like I've heard stories of people trusting people for years and years and years and still getting, you know what I mean? Like things done to them that shouldn't have been done when it comes to their money and their money management.
Dame Dash
Man.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, this is such a. You have to trust industry full of people you don't know if you can trust. That it, that is the, that's the thing, that is the, you know, the conversation here in, in today's episode. So, yeah, we're all navigating, we're all figuring it out at the end of the day. In this candid and compelling episode, Loren LaRosa dives headfirst into the unpredictable world of live television blunders and the complexities of celebrity financial missteps. Touching on fresh viral moments, such as a hilarious on-air slip by longtime QVC anchor Toni Bratton, Loren uses these anecdotes to open larger conversations about public scrutiny, legacy, learning from failure, and the difficulties of financial management in the spotlight.
