Lauren LaRosa
All, what's up? It's Lauren LaRosa. And this is another episode of the Latest with Lauren LaRosa. This is your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment news, and all of the conversations that shake the room, baby. So today and every day here at the Latest with Lauren LaRosa, we are going to kick off with checking in behind the scenes of the grind. So checking in behind the scenes of the grind. Today, I actually did a Bible study. Virtually, it's kind of like a Bible study. But my pastor, Pastor Jerome Lewis, who is at Seas of greatness church in Delaware, all the sermons and the class that I'm about to talk to you guys about are live streamed, so you can watch it on YouTube. Even if you have never been to Delaware, don't plan to go. I suggest it. Great church, great pastor, great leadership. But I was actually watching a part of the sermon or the class. I don't know what to call it. Sermon class. It was like, it was. It was titled. It was talking about personal development. And they were having a conversation about the saying, what God has for you is for you. And my pastor always says, and he's the first person that I've ever heard say this, that that saying isn't true, that you can miss what God has for you. And there are, like, different ways that that can happen. Like, God will bring it to you, but there are things that you can be doing, whether it's like you're around the wrong people. Tonight he talked a lot about, like, you know, just like your posturing, like, you know, not being too prideful, not becoming too, like, basically not becoming bigger than a program where you're not able to see where God is leading you. And I tweeted out something from the sermon. He said, not every opportunity to increase is God's will for you. And that stuck out to me so much. I think right now, in. In real life, everything day to day for me is really about making decisions and how those decisions go into my discipline and how that discipline brings forth, like, fruit of seeds that I'm planting daily, literally. And a lot of times, you know, as I'm figuring out team and figuring out, you know, I'm walking into so many new doors, new rooms, meeting people, doing all these that I've continued. Like, I've literally been doing these things for so long, but now things are a bit different. I mean, there's a lot more eyes. There are a lot more doors that are open, you know, that I could potentially walk through. And just a Lot more coming at me, more, faster. And I'm always praying that, like, God is ordering my steps and that I'm making the right decisions. One of my biggest fears, and I've been trying to figure out if this is trauma or is this me just being really in tune with like, wanting to make sure that, like, I'm being led by God and not led by, like, my own wants and, you know, and needs as a human. You know, like how they talk about, like, of the flesh. Right. My biggest fear is that I make one decision. Whether it's taking an opportunity or whatever the case may be, like, just that there's this one decision that once I take it, once it's done, once it happens, that it just changes everything that I've worked for. I am always thinking about that constantly. It's like such a anxiety point for me. And yeah, I've been trying to figure out, like, whether that's like a scarcity mindset thing of feeling like, you know, opportunities. Well, first of all, like, you know, what I'm doing every single day. I'm literally getting up every single day and wanting to leave and not wanting, but I'm actively living one of my wildest dreams. So because of that, sometimes I wake up and I'm like, yo, it's no way that like, all of this worked out like this. Like, like, and, and, and continues to. Like, man, when I tell y', all, God is so good, I actually need to sit down and kind of like, map out what I want my, like, next six months to look like, my next year to look like, my next five years to look like. Because a lot of things that I wanted to accomplish the last time I sat down and did that whole five year plan, I've been able to do within these last, like, two years. So much has happened for me within these last couple years. It's been kind of like, scary. Not that it's been easy at all. There's a lot of hard work, there's a lot of long days, long nights, sacrifice, you know, not spending as much time with family and just different things. So it's not that it's come too easy. And that's why I think like, that it's just like I really sit and just look at things sometimes and I'm like, it's no way. Like, this is crazy. And I don't even just mean career opportunities and things that I'm getting to experience. I mean, like, there are sometimes things with like, my family, like, just, you know, people will literally ask me all the time. How's your mom? How's your grandmother? Because I. I kind of document it well, with my mom, not with my grandmother, but with my mom, I was documenting so much of her health journey that there are a lot of people that, you know, because of that feel connected to it, and. And I talk about it a lot, and I talk about them a lot. But there are some times where I. I sit with them, and I'm just like, God, there's no way, like, you delivered us from so much. Like, they have been through so much that they have had to continuously be very strong through, persevere through, and have, like, a very, like, fighter mentality and spirit. Because there were times where, like, you know, especially my mom was going through a cancer journey where I was just like, man, I don't know what's about to happen. And now I look back on those times, and I'm like, the way that I look at my faith in God and what he's able to do and what he's able to walk me through is, like, so unmatched.

Lauren LaRosa
so when I'm looking at opportunities and looking at different things that have happened in my life and things that I've gotten through and just how, you know, I mean things, I'm even scared to say it right now. That's. That's why I keep saying, like, I want. I'm trying to figure out if this is trauma. I'm scared to say. When I look at how good things are right now, sometimes I'm just, like. I'm scared to acknowledge it. I'm scared to talk about it. I'm scared to lean into it, because I don't want anything to jeopardize it, like, at all. So I just. I. I enjoy it and I live it. I. I, like, I experience it in real life, and I'm in it, and I'm experiencing the joy in real life. Like, I'm not running from that, but, like, I don't even like talking about it sometimes because I'm like, y', all, what if I'm gonna wake up tomorrow, this is all gonna be different. Like, I am so used to fighting to survive that, like, I am really trying to, like, talk myself into being okay with now living and not surviving. So when my pastor said this today, not every opportunity to increase is God's will for you. It really put me at ease a bit. There's a lot of decisions that I'm making, you know, personally, on a dayto day where sometimes you feel like, you know, if you walk away from something or if you, you know, not even just walk away, but if certain things are not even presented to you because and you feel like you should be getting them, that it's going to change that trajectory that you're on, it's going to take away from that happiness or that life is good feeling that you're on. And when he said that today I was like that was God talking to me about not not making decisions in worry and fret in a scarcity. You know, I fight ORF flight mode like I've always been having to do. Like especially career wise, but just knowing and resting in what I feel and what my gut is telling me to do and doing it and being okay with it. So I, I, I really, you know, if you guys are looking to go and hear that sermon and hear some of it go on over Seeds of Greatness 302Seeds of Greatness Church on YouTube and take a listen to Pastor Jerome Lewis. The Sermon was Wednesday, July 15. It was the personal development class. I don't know that has been sitting on me in my spirit. So I wanted to share with you guys and now we can get on

Kal Penn
Hey everyone, it's Kal Penn. I'm the host of Earsay, the Audible and iHeart Audiobook Club. This week on the podcast, I am sitting down with Ray Porter, the narrator of Andy Weir's audiobook project Hail Mary Massive sci fi adventure about survival and science and what happens when you wake up alone, very far from Earth.
Ray Porter
I really had to make a decision because I caught myself getting that frog in my throat and starting to get teary as I'm narrating some of these sections and it's like, okay, yo yo yo, is this indulgent? And I really thought about it. I was like, no. At this point it would kind of be betraying the trust the author and the listener have in telling this story if I don't go through it. But there's places in this book that that deeply, emotionally affected me. And I left it on the mic. That's great because it served the story. People will say like oh my God, I cried at the end. It's like, yeah dude, me too.

decisions, Jay Z made a decision with that Yankee Stadium show Sunday night, the last show, the extra inning show. He decided to not start the show until as many people as possible were able to get into the stadium. And after thousands of fans rushed the doors, a lot of them without tickets, you know, people that just were there trying to see the sights, and got into the show for free, but pushed the show back three to four hours. We didn't leave that show until 2:33am in the morning. And there has been some conversations, I mean, even here on the ladies with Lauren LaRosa, we've been trying to figure out, was Jay Z going to be fined for this? Because normally there's noise ordinances in the city. So, you know, like, certain noises can't go past a certain time. That's why concerts and at a certain time, stadium, you know, events in that certain times. And y' all know how that goes. Like clubs shut down at a certain time. Especially because Yankee Stadium is in a residential area. It's in the Bronx. Like you walk across the street, it's houses, there's people, you know. But I was actually told officially by a rep for the Yankee Stadium that there has been no agency that has reached out to Yankee Stadium about any fines or penalties for the amount of time that that show went over its original ending time on Sunday, July 12th. So we can put this to rest. I've been seeing a lot of reporting around. Like people honestly are just doing reports right now asking the question, will he even be fine? I saw some loose reporting that there was no fines earlier in the week after the show happened. But now I can officially tell you guys, according to reps at Yankee Stadium, as of right now, no and probably won't happen. Now, I did follow back up or circle back to that rep that I was speaking to to ask why, just to, you know, clarify what I've been able to find just in my research on Google. Because according to Google, you know, New York City doesn't set a hard legal stop time, but outdoor events at the stadium, Yankee Stadium, are generally expected to wrap up by or just before midnight. Now, mind you guys, Friday and Saturday night with Jay Z's concerts, he did that. So it's expected to wrap around or before midnight out of courtesy to the surrounding neighborhood, because like I told y', all, like Yankee Stadium, for those of you guys who've never been here to New York or have never been to the Bronx, where Yankee Stadium is and have solid stadium and where it sits, tons of houses residential area around the stadium. However, there was an exception obviously made for this concert. So what I'm trying to get more information on is how that exception was communicated to Jay Z. We know that they were dealing with Desiree Perez, who is, you know, one of the lead CEOs of Roc Nation. I told you guys the story and go back and listen to a previous episode about DEZ literally being outside on the ground and being the person that was leading the charge a lot in working with NYPD brass, which is the Yankee Stadium's highest level of security, to get everybody in, as many people as they could, to keep everybody safe. So yeah, as of right now, that that is the official report, there are some reports too by Billboard right now that Jay Z's Reasonable Doubt and Blueprint albums have seen an immense increase in streams following these shows. And I'm sure it's because, you know, everybody's listening to it, getting ready. According to Luminate, which is a portfolio that does a lot of the like numeric data collection across music platforms, they're saying that Reasonable Doubt, which was Jay Z's debut album, it's up 94%, putting it at 2.075 million official streams over the first four days of that weekend that he did. So from July 10 to July 13, the streams for Reasonable Doubt jumped 94. Now, according to Billboard Illuminate, they're saying that this accounts for all three sold out nights of Jay Z's Yankee Stadium. And of course we know that he dedicated each night to something different. So the first night was dedicated to Reasonable Doubt. Second night was dedicated to the Blueprint. The third night was extra in it. So you got a little bit of both and a little bit of things that had nothing to do with either two. Now for the Blueprint, according to Luminant, as reported by Billboard, they're saying that the week of July 10th through the 13th, that weekend, which was Jay Z weekend here in New York, streams catapulted. They went crazy. They went up 118. So that is over 2.4 million official streams in three days. And mind y', all, Jay Z still has shows in Paris, London, in la. So more music is going to go crazy. There's going to be a lot more news to come from all of this because I think the fact that Beyonce dropped that morning, dude, Dunk song officially on July 4th and hit the stage with Jay Z twice during this past weekend in New York. And they're headed to Paris, which is a very special place for them. They talk about, you know, how Blue Ivy was conceived and, you know all these things, right? I don't know. I think we're about to see something with. With them potentially. That's my prediction. She's celebrating 25 years of bday, which was, you know, one of her legacy albums. He's celebrating 30 years of reasonable doubt, 25 years of the blueprint. I think something's a cooking, y'. All. A cooking. Who am I? I sound like a. A country aunt. A cooking. Yo, I am exhausted by the day if y' all cannot tell. Like, I literally barely have a voice. I have not yet to even recover from the freaking Yankee Stadium shows.
