This is wheezy. WTF from Decisions, decisions, ladies. Let's talk about taking control of our sexual health. That's grown woman energy. You may think HIV affects someone else somewhere else, but the truth is it's impacting our community, and some of us are being hit harder than others. Black women make up just 13% of the women in the US yet account for nearly half of new HIV diagnoses amongst women. Taking care of ourselves is community care. Let's get to it. I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything and everybody. You know she don't lie about that, right? Lauren came in hot. Hey, y', all, what's up? It's Lauren LaRosa. And this is another episode of the Latest with Lauren LaRosa. This is your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment news, and all of the conversations that shake the room, baby. Now, I today am not going to check in behind the scenes of the grind. I want to get right to the conversation that we are having. I have been literally having this conversation about who's right, who's wrong, who meant what, who did not for the last 24 to 48 hours. And I think that that is what good TV does to you, especially good reality TV. So let's get into this conversation about the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Now, number one, I just want to say shout out to Portia Williams, because people love to act like Atlanta and that franchise does not carry the Real Housewives as conglomerate, period. And I feel like they love to make that statement or say that or act like that now, because the OG Girls are not there. But it was very evident when all of the OG Girls were there. So Portia, Cynthia, Kenya, Nene, Kim, Zolciak, like, when all of the OG Girls were there, you couldn't even have that conversation without somebody shutting you down real quick. But now, because people have conversations about what the cast and the storylines lack, and they love to act like, you know, the people don't be tripping off of or having conversations about Real Housewives. But here we are having a conversation, and Portia is the lead again this season. She's. She's the face of Real Housewives of Atlanta, which is a big deal. So wanted to make that clear, number one, because give my girl all of her things all right now. And I say that because I'm gonna get into this, this conversation and be a little critical of Portia. And you guys know, on any platform that I've been on, I've always talked about how much I love Portia. I think she is a fun girl. I think she is great to talk to. She is beautiful, a successful businesswoman, but she, she's very smart. She is the show. She deserves to be the show. And if you follow her moves, not even just on Real Housewives of Atlanta, what you realize is that she's one of the girls that is really using this to create a business like a million dollar, multi million dollar business for herself. So, you know, I don't do nothing but kudos to her, but let's get into it. So on this last episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta, it is season 17, episode 7, K. Michelle is, you know, there's, there's a question that has come out of it because of K. Michelle and Portia Williams. And the question is, is K. Michelle reaching for a storyline that isn't authentically hers? According to Portia, or are we seeing in real time, you know, what is the cause and effect of years in the spotlight and years on reality TV and a person be traumatized and then triggered, you know, by certain situations that they are now reoccurring. Back in the reality show space, as we know, K. Michelle, big face of love and hip hop, went through a lot there. And K. Michelle made it very clear when she returned to reality TV through Housewives of Atlanta in conversation with Portia, and she has even talked about this, that, you know, she felt outed by the love and hip hop cast members. Basically mean, like, meaning, like, you know, pushed to the outskirts, drugged through the mud. It just wasn't a good experience for her, according to her. So coming back into this reality TV show space, she kind of, you know, in the beginning, and that's why I'm so sad to see their relationship playing out like this right now. Leaned on Portia Williams a lot to kind of be her friend in the space that she could actually trust and understand. Understand, and, you know, just all of these things. But now the chatter it has has been divided. So Portia Williams and K. Michelle on episode seven, honestly, there was an. There was a moment in episode six as well, but we'll focus on episode seven. So in episode seven, Portia Williams and K. Michelle had a moment surrounding some oysters. Now, we talked about this a bit on the Breakfast Club, and I'm giving you guys this background because then I'm gonna take you into some new information that we haven't had a chance to discuss, to really make. And I'm gonna leave it to you guys to make a decision on who's right, who's wrong here. So they get into a conversation about oysters in episode seven. Let's take a listen. Check them for you first.
Portia Williams
What are you checking for?
Lauren LaRosa
What is you doing?
Portia Williams
What are you checking for?
Lauren LaRosa
Okay, Porsche, I'm like, you checking it. Your face ain't right.
Portia Williams
That vagina is clean. This one might be a little sense
Lauren LaRosa
that vagina is clean.
Portia Williams
This is odd to me.
Lauren LaRosa
What are you checking for? Does she always smell oysters? I don't know. Now, before we get into what the conversation is, I do want to give you guys some background info and some background facts, because if you guys are not familiar, and this is a part that we talked about on Breakfast Club as well, too, K. Michelle, some years ago, there was a big thing. It was a super viral moment, several different moments that were super viral where there were allegations by an ex, someone that she was dating, that there was a body odor, that her vagina had an odor. And she was very clear and, you know, very not backing down at all about coming out and making sure that she cleared up the rumor wherever it spread to. Because, I mean, as a woman, that's just not something you want on your name, a conversation you even want to play with at all. So it was a thing. It happened some years ago, but it was a big thing for her. It was a big conversation. And she was very vocal about, you know, at that time. And even the years following how that situation and people having a conversation affected her, like, how it hurt her, hurt her feelings, I'm sure, and traumatized her to a bit. As we are seeing play out here on Real Housewives of Atlanta now, the girls are all on this cash trip. They're in Texas. They're supporting Cynthia Bailey because Cynthia Bailey is doing, like, a new tequila venture, having this big gala over there in Texas. And during the trip, it's weird because K. Michelle starts off on the strip, and she's having a really good time. And a lot of the conversation, this, you know, in the beginning of the episode production be doing her thing. They know exactly. What they be doing is about the fact that K. Michelle is comfortable and, you know, she feels like she's found, you know, even through all of the mess, the goodness in a lot of the ladies. And these are the women that, like, she watched for some time and this is what she was looking for and joining a franchise. But, boy, does that quickly change once that oyster conversation that we just listened to happens.

It's hard to believe that the first phone call ever happened over 150 years ago. Just think about that. Over a century and a half of connections. What call comes to mind for you? If you're a basketball fan, either college or pro, did a friend ever call you to go on a long road trip to a big game? Or is there someone you haven't seen in a long time and you'd like to reconnect with? The first step is picking up the phone. And, you know, over all these years and all these calls, AT&T has been there connecting people in meaningful ways. This is more than just a story of technology and innovation. It's a story of human connection. And all these calls make up the biggest moments of our lives. I still remember the call I got when I finally made it to the pros and the calls that took this show, all the smoke from an idea and turned it into reality. AT&T has been connecting people for 150 years. So never take those connections for granted. Call someone you care about and stay connected with the people in your life.

We invented a podcast.
Jonas Brothers
Well, we didn't invent it, we just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty. Yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts, but this one's extra special. So how did we, how do we actually come up with the name hey Jonas? Guys, I honestly don't remember.

about what we should call it and well, we were thinking. I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes, I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing a bit for the podcast. People could call in and say, hey Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad hey Jonas. And offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that. Guys, listen to hey Jonas on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast. After the oyster conversation happens, K. Michelle then has a discussion about not feeling safe at the table or just within a group. And she's breaking down. Now, as she's breaking down, you have all of the women surrounding her. Portia Williams, Cynthia Bailey, you know all the Girls are there trying to figure out what's wrong and trying to make her feel better. Let's take a listen to that.
K. Michelle
Something that they thought that they was going to address with me at dinner.
Lauren LaRosa
Who though?
Carlos King
Drew?
K. Michelle
Portia and Phaedra.
Lauren LaRosa
Not Portia. And she was rubbing your knee and she was a part of the problem. But that's you over there just sitting, looking stupid and not Phaedra trying to fan you. Why her church fan.
K. Michelle
He be playing with me and was the first time. Then when I get to cursing, then
Lauren LaRosa
okay would be crazy.
K. Michelle
I am heartbroken. I watch these women who have dealt with things from gossip try to judge me.
Portia Williams
That vagina is clean. I don't know. This one might be a little scent.
K. Michelle
Talk about a rock that a disgruntled ex said:8 years ago. I already know who you've contacted, what blogs you called to go read that and want to spread that. I think that is very disheartening. And that shows the character of these women. The trauma that was caused by the rumor. It really hasn't gotten better. I can say I'm here, come here, like a lot of people, but I haven't and I don't know when I will. I'm not going to let y' all keep playing in my face. Like I don't hear, like I don't see.
Lauren LaRosa
Leave me be.
K. Michelle
Because it keeps building up. And when it get to where it need to get to, I'mma curse all them the out.
Lauren LaRosa
Now, you'll notice in this clip, she never directly says to Portia, you said this. Why would you say that? This made me feel this way. You're who I'm talking about. She directs some things at Drew, but she never directly says that to Portia. She then goes and has another conversation, very separate. Portia's not there with Shamia and a couple of the other ladies about the fact that, you know, she was talking about Portia, right? So her and Shamia kind of had this like, bonding moment over that. Because as we know, Shamia has went through her own issues, but Portia Williams, which has resulted in their relationship being like non existent to an extent. But I went back today and I was watching some of the interviews that Portia Williams has done in the last, like, couple weeks. One of them being an interview that she did with Carlos King. Because in the midst of all of this, the fire that this started, right? You got K. Michelle on Twitter, Portia Williams on Twitter. K. Michelle's calling Portia Williams a coward and saying like, you know, basically, you Know what you did. Porsha Williams is right at K. Michelle on Twitter, calling her Twitter fingers, you know, saying, like, look, if I'm a coward, you a coward, too. Because if something was going on and it has something to do with me, you should have addressed it right then and there. That's what we do on Real Housewives of Atlanta. So. And then K. Michelle alleges that Portia slept with one of her exes. Like, it's a whole thing. So that's going down. And in the midst of that, Carlos King tweets out a video clip of Portia. And I had seen this interview prior to, but I didn't watch it in full. I hadn't even gotten to this part that he tweeted out. And I'm like, you know, Carlos King is the reality show King. Shout out to Carlos King. He's also here on the Black Effect podcast network. He don't do nothing by chance. So I'm like, let me go and rewatch his interview real quick to see if she directly addresses this, which, again, this was two weeks before this episode even premiered. So there's no way she would have directly stated what was about to happen early because these girls signed contracts. You can't tell the storyline. You just have to let it play out. And then at the reunion and following that, we get on into the things, right? But I go watch the interview, and there's a part of the interview where Portia addresses the whole miscarriage conversation, or lack thereof, with K. Michelle and what she meant by that. Let's take a listen.
Carlos King
The miscarriage comment. Yeah, I'm sure you saw the comments. It seemed to be pretty split whether or not you intentionally meant it to harm her or it was just something that, you know, you said off the top of your dome. You are somebody who is an ambassador for the March of Dimes. You are somebody. Again, going back to season six where you talked about having a miscarriage, right? And you cried about the fact that you were there for a week and Cordell didn't only show them one time. Like, this is something that you have, you know, dealt with, right? What would you like to say? Because K. Michelle did do tweets, even after the episode aired, where we saw the episode end and it seemed like y' all hugged it all. Everything is good. But then the tweets started to happen afterwards where she sort of is doubling down on. She doesn't trust you. What do you have to say about that?
Portia Williams
I think that's another situation where someone has decided that this is the route they need to take. I don't think this is the route that K. Michelle needs to take or has to take. I think it's the wrong road. But at the end of the day, if you have been watching the show and then you are finally on the show, you decide this is how you're gonna enter. This is how I'll make my mark. Then it is what it is. This is the game she decides to play.
Lauren LaRosa
But then they get into a conversation about storylines and girls coming into the franchise and needing the storyline. Let's take a listen to that.
Portia Williams
When I watched K. Michelle, her punishment was too hard for what she called the crime. I said, okay, I picked them up on and I text her. Cause that's how I am. Ask Candy. Ask anybody. Ask Charade if you do. You know, I'm a text right away as I'm watching the show. And I said, hey, I just want you to know I'm watching a show and I see that you still didn't feel or you were still upset with, you know, me speaking to you about the situation. I said, I want you to know I am sincere and that I never would have wanted to offend you about that. When I spoke with Shamia, she never told me any detail. You never told me anything of a detail of your bottom. You know, I never would have done that. And I just want you to know from my heart, even though I saw her call me all them names, I was like, fuck all that. Let me make her as a woman understand that at the root of it, I never would have made fun of you. She said, okay, I truly appreciate that, et cetera. And, you know, I appreciate you reiterating that you didn't know or blah, blah. So I said, okay, cool, put the phone down. We were done. Oh, my God. The next day she's tweeting, saying, oh, well, you know what? If you was to die, what did you. Doubling down. I was like, okay, I see what I'm dealing with. I see what I'm dealing with. And listen, I don't want to go too hard on K. Michelle. I just say this in general as a. As a person, in any space, you could be at work, it could be a family member, it could be a friend. If you are in any group and you are talking to somebody and they don't have a heart to understand you, they don't want to understand you. It could be for whatever reason, ratings or want to be. Want to be right or just want to see what's wrong. They're never going to understand. They're never going to actually say out loud, oh, I understand, because they're too busy trying to do something else, whatever that else may be. So I said, okay, cool. So at this point, you know, I know what else happens in the season, and although she's funny and she's adorable, I don't know how it's going to go over. I don't think that what was happening with her and Drew is going to go over as well as maybe she thinks it will. I don't. And I think, if I'm being honest, I think that when she looks back at this first season, she'll probably be like, oh, I probably chose the wrong team, and I probably should have gone about things in a more authentic way.
Lauren LaRosa
So as I'm watching this, I'm like, oh, so she could talk about the miscarriage thing. Because at the point of that interview, that had already happened and so did another firestorm on Twitter that it went down from K. Michelle and Portia Williams, right? And it seems like in the moment, while watching that in real time, because these girls are experiencing this in real time, like they're living it, but as we're watching it as it airs, they're also reliving it again. But I think, you know, from what it sounds like, Portia was caught off guard because as she was rewatching it in real time, she shot K. Michelle attacks and tried to, you know, clear up everything, apologize, move forward in good faith. Like, she's trying to be a real bitch about it. Like, excuse my French. But if I'm being honest, she's confronting what the mix up was. Because even in that episode, K. Michelle never said anything to Portia about feeling how she felt about the statement. But they cleared it up. You know, according to Portia, they moved on. K. Michelle has not commented on, you know, that background information that Portia Williams gave on that moment. But the second part, where she's talking about storylines and girls, you know, coming in and having to, you know, figure out the storyline and all these things, I'm like, oh, Portia was kind of giving us a little clue about what we were about to see moving forward in these episodes or what she's alleged, K. Michelle's pattern of behavior is going to be for what we're going to see coming up next. And now that we've seen what came up next and you go back and listen to this, I'm like, okay, so Portia feels like K. Michelle thinks that this is what she has to do to create a storyline for herself on the show lean into things that are not really things. Now, I'll admit, again, the miscarriage moment, I can understand why from everything, from all the information I have right now, I can understand why Portia would have been a little bit like, wait, what? I didn't even mean it that way. I can also understand the sensitivity on K. Michelle's side because it's something that is happening to her and she's been very vocal about, you know, the changes that she's had to physically make to her body to literally keep herself alive. These are very traumatic experiences. And Portia, you know, has had a miscarriage before and has talked about it. These things are very traumatic experiences. So I understand both sides. But it's easy to give Portia a benefit of a doubt in this situation because it was never addressed. And when she did address it, they moved on. She explained, boom, now they're here, right? So it seems like this is happening again, but this time, when this happens with the whole vagina situation, you know, I saw like, the. The episode prior where Kelly mentions that Portia Williams Punani or her Hot Pocket smells like Cheetos. It was real quick. You had to catch it. And all the girls were screaming when she said it. But let's take a listen to that. This is the episode prior to episode seven. This is episode six at the very end. Let's take a listen.
Portia Williams
You should be able to read a better than that. Let me tell you about a like me. You done every like you.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay?
Portia Williams
You tried to s me. Are you insane? Who tried to scare you? Okay, all right.
K. Michelle
Okay.
Portia Williams
Yeah, that mother Hot chili cheese Fritos, baby. I don't want to S you.
Lauren LaRosa
And that right there is where episode seven picks up at. So we're thrown right into that, right? So I can understand, number one, why people are covering it the way that they're covering it as blanket. Why would Portia say that? Because in Portia's comments about the oysters, the vagina, whatever, is easy to, like, infer that she's talking to Kelly, but she doesn't say it directly to her. And they're directly having these back and forths on the show up until this point. Now, granted, the girls, though indirect shade all day long, you know, that they are not. Portia is not absent or absolved of doing that. But in my mind, as I'm watching it, literally, even after seeing the prior episode, the first thing I thought of was like, wait, is she being funny to K. Michelle? Because every. That conversation was like a It was a thing. It was here, it was big. There were a lot of people talking about it. So I was just like, oh, I know the producers don't have her playing with K. Michelle like that. Like, no, no, no, no, no. And the reason why I say the producers is because in my mind, I'm like. And again, I'm reiterating what I said on Breakfast Club, but I'm able to explain a bit better here. It's two things for me. It's either on one side, Portia really wasn't even talking to Kate Michelle, and it was just something that she threw in conversation, whether she was being shady or she was just having a good time. Because, you know, Portia's dating girls, and there's a lot of things you can point to that have led up to that moment where Portia will be talking about USS and vagina. Or you got your story. Producers behind the scenes on reality tv. And K. Michelle said in one of her tweets, I'm not trying to hear nothing y' all talking about, because the way that things are produced by these girls behind the scenes, I'm buying it. Right? So K. Michelle believes that this is a produced up moment that is a part of this big plot. Portia has not come out and clarified any of who she was talking to or why. Again, a lot of times they cannot because we have more episodes to go on the show. But Portia was on Sherri shepherd prior to. And I know that this was prior to her seeing the episode air on Bravo. So seeing how it was edited to air to fans because Sherri Shepherd's show is no longer recording live. So all of this was pre taped some weeks ago. Right. And so that means she would have lived it in real time. So however she felt about it and then went and spoke on this prior to watching how it was aired on Bravo. Let's take a listen to Porshawn Cher Shepherd. Yes, yes.
Portia Williams
And but, you know, it get like that sometimes. You're not gonna like everybody on the cast. You know, Drew is absolutely amazing stuff. K. Michelle has joined the show and shook it up like she shake them tables.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes.
Portia Williams
And you know, one thing about it, I think that a lot of people who haven't done reality TV before come on and they're being thirsty, you know, but these girls are being spicy. Are new girls. They're not thirsty. They're spicy. Cause they're already established. They're already that girl. Pinky's that girl. She's a business entrepreneur, has done everything and made Millions and millions. And then you have K. Michelle, who's established country singer Groundbreaker. So I'm glad that we have some real heavy hitters now on the show.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, you got the heavy hitters, and it's interesting. Cause they did. Let me know. We don't. You know, they're spicy, but, you know, it is very spicy because I know that you're the fellow housewife Kelly Farrell. Oh, yeah. She's been throwing accusations that you've been sleeping with married men. Now, is that spicy or is that a major issue?
Portia Williams
I mean, she is just like dragon tea from, like, four years ago. Like, you know, one thing I can say again, going back to some of the new girls, going back to Angela Oakley, who's joined the show. This show is about showing black women who are established who have a wonderful life, fulfilled life in themselves so they don't have to focus on other people. If they end up focusing on you, they're gonna read you. Right. But they're not making me. Their. Those women, you know, you pay attention to them. They got it going on. You know, they got businesses, they got husbands, they got things. And I just think it's very unfortunate when some of the girls come on the show and they have to kind of search and reach. And she's always reaching for other reasons, but, you know, just.
Lauren LaRosa
Is that reaching?
Portia Williams
She reaching and she can't quite get.
Lauren LaRosa
You can't quite get the room.
Portia Williams
Why is he. Who even handed her the peach, you know? Cause it's like, I don't know. But listen, Kelly, sometimes she's cool, sometimes she's not. I think that if you can dish it out, you should be able to receive it back to you.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes. And you should be able to move on.
Portia Williams
I think it is very clear she tried to come in hot, and I just cooled her down. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
Lauren LaRosa
Again, she is doubling down on the girls needing storylines to be in the game. Still giving K. Michelle her props, but talking about the storylines. And that's my thing. It's like we're trying to decipher here, like, what is the storyline for either one of the girls for Portia Williams or for K. Michelle and what is not. And I feel like this is my feeling. This is not facts. My feeling in this is as I'm watching all of this unfold and Portia is responding to K. Michelle's tweets. Why not just say, girl, that wasn't even meant for you. That makes everybody point to. Okay, she probably throwing that back at Kelly. Okay, you know Portia dating girls now, so we know where she at with it. You know what I mean? Like, why not just say that now? She could also just be leaving that out because, you know, she's drumming up. We got some more episodes to watch, but we just gotta. I guess we just gotta wait and see. But I wanna know how you guys feel. Like, in this world of reality tv. Do you feel like all is fair in reality TV and war? Or do you feel like Portia owes K. Michelle a sense of loyalty to a certain extent and peace to a certain extent because she's her friend that kind of held her hand bringing her into this franchise? I wanna know how you guys feel. Get at me all over social. I'm Lauren LaRosa. L O R E N L O R O S A and I tell you guys, you know, every single episode, y' all could be anywhere talking about all these things with everybody. Literally everybody is talking about this right now, but y' all are right here with me having a conversation about it. My lowriders. I appreciate you guys, and I'll catch you in my next episode. This is an I Heart podcast. Guaranteed human.
