Back on the grind.
Lauren LaRosa
Checking on in with you guys. We are midweek back to work after being off of the Breakfast Club and waking up at 3am I keep checking in with y' all about this because, baby, I am struggling this morning. I freaking barely made it through my alarm. So it's running late this. This morning. And I was just thinking about, you know, as you get older, taking vacations from work. It's like you celebrate the vacation and having the time off. But, man, getting back to work is hard. Getting back to waking up at 3, 4 o' clock in the morning is insane at 33 years old. But I am not complaining about having to do it. I'm just tired. I'm tired. But we are almost through the week. First week back. I got some really good stuff for you guys today. I'm always excited here on the podcast when we get to talk about variety of topics. I know we get into the entertainment news and the pop culture stuff, which is news normally, like the dating and, you know, kind of like the, you know, how all those things go. Um, and we are going to talk about that because my girl Cardi B is out in Paris looking amazing, and there has been a little bit of an update on her and Stephan Diggs. But before we get into that in the latest, there's a story right now circulating everywhere. It's. It's all over the place. Um, and I thought that this story was pretty interesting. So Mattel, those that. That is the company that makes Barbie. Mattel has actually introduced its first ever Barbie do with type 1 diabetes. They've been making toys that are representative of, like, you know, skin tone and disabilities and, you know, different things. Right. This Barbie with type 1 diabetes is, you know, geared toward expanding representation even more. And Mattel wants to inspire more children with this Barbie. Now, this makes me happy because I feel like, on face value, when people see this story, it's like, who would even understand a Barbie with type 1 diabetes, right? Because this is not a person who can talk to you about their condition and what they're experiencing. And how they manage it or anything like that. So what is the point? But then I went to look at the Barbie and I'm like, yo, this is fire. Because not only, you know, does this Barbie just give Barbie, like, you can dress her up, you can dress her down and change her clothes, but she comes with a lot of accessories that any young kid dealing with diabetes has to learn about, has to learn how to carry around, has to learn how to manage, how to use in case of emergency and just in managing their care. And I don't think that we talk enough about, you know, as kids or when we were kids, how, you know, what we played with as far as the dolls and toys and what we watched on tv, what we heard on the radio, what we learned from our friends, how much it actually influenced our life. And when you think about that, if any of you guys out there are parents, and if you're a parent of a child dealing with type 1 diabetes, I think that this normalizes the conversation for a kid around diabetes. It's, again, where we are in our society today, in our medical world. Today, people with diabetes, you know, who are managing their care, talk about it outwardly and openly because it is something that is, you know, it's a normal thing for some people today. And it's been made to be one of those things that people can talk about because, you know, everybody's dealing with it. And because of our technology in our medical system, it has made it a lot easier for people who are going through and managing care to do so. But kids are different. Kids don't, you know, understand that on face value all the time, like, hey, I'm not the only person going through this. If they're friends in their friend group, depending on how old the kid is, y' all know how all that goes. They're ousted out or they feel different. And, you know, that can mess with a kid. But I think, you know, you seen this Barbie, you're able to play with this Barbie. Barbie dolls are so regarded. If you're actual kid and you have a Barbie, there's an excitement around, you know, seeing this Barbie doll who is glammed up and dressed up and can go everywhere with you and is, you know, always just ready to play and just always put together and seeing yourself in that, I think is important, which is why they did, you know, the ethnically diverse Barbies and all the different things. Right. So there was a press release that came from Mattel, and the press release read that Mattel is announcing a new Barbie this Edition is going to be an addition to the line that enables more children to see themselves reflected in Barbie and encourages dial play that extends beyond a child's own lived experiences. Mattel says they want to foster a greater sense of inclusion and empathy. See, we just talked about that in pillars and all of the pillars of the Barbie brand. Now this Barbie, because they want to make sure the design truly captures, you know, what it's like to be a part of the type 1 diabetes community. They say that Barbie, the brand worked closely with breakthrough T1D, which is the leading global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization. And that organization is actually committed to accelerating life changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes and all of its complications. So Barbie worked with this organization because they wanted to make sure they accurately showed the medical equipment that this Barbie comes with because this is the medical equipment that anyone with this condition may utilize at the same time. So that's a part of the Barbie's look and it has a very stylish looking feel like you know, it matches the Barbie's outfits and things of that nature. So again, it just makes it very kid inclusive. We all are inclusive no matter what we are dealing with on a day to day friendly. Some of the things that the Barbie comes with a continuous glucose monitor. And I also think too that this is fire because if you are a kid and you're having to learn about, you know, your glucose monitor and wearing it on your arm and what it's for and why you have to wear it and why it's important, important, it's the same way as if a kid were to watch a cartoon or something like that that in a very kid friendly way breaks down type 1 diabetes and how to care for it. Like you can do it through the Barbie if you are that child's parent. So the glucose monitors are small, they're very wearable devices. And what they're for is they continually measure a person's blood sugar levels. And then in addition to this, the Barbie even comes with a phone to help track her blood sugar levels throughout the day. They also have an insulin pump that comes with Barbie which we know is used to figure out, you know, what your insulin dosage should be. And that's attached to her waist. She has a blue polka dot outfit on. Now the polka dot outfit, it's the top matching skirt and it has ruffles on it. The colors themselves represent diabetes awareness. And then the Barbie also comes with a purse. Now the doll comes with a blue pastel purse. The Kids love to take the purses off the Barbies and put it back on and interchange the outfits. But inside of the purse, the Barbie carries. And I thought that this was really important because I remember having a family member in my family with diabetes and they would have to eat certain snacks throughout the day to keep their levels in a certain place. Inside of the Barbie's purse, she carries very essential things. So she carries her type 1 diabetes supplies, and she also carries snacks when she's on the go, which is, again, a perfect way to explain your child. Like, look, here's how your life is set up. Your friends may not have to snack on these type of things throughout the day, but here is why you have to. And here's how Barbie carries hers, and here's how you should carry yours. I thought that this was fire and it also touched my heart to hear. I also, you know, it's. To me, I. I never like to hear about kids who are dealing with different illnesses. I just think that kids are just so innocent. They don't have a choice at, you know, how they're born, when they're born, and all those type of things. So it's just always a very sensitive topic when you talk about kids who are dealing with any medical condition that has to be managed in care. Because also there are kids, they don't understand, you know, insulin dosages and having to take insulin and, you know, having to check in on things. So I thought that this was a dope way to be able to have a conversation, especially if you're a parent, to be able to do so and be able to help them understand and managing their care. Now we're going to take a swing of things, a hard swing here in the latest. But I mean, we still talking about parents because we're going on over to our girl, Cardi B. Now Cardi B. Is out in Paris for Couture Fashion Week, and she has been killing it. Cardi has literally been the eye of the week, which is not uncommon. Anytime Cardi does these fashion weeks, especially when she has new music coming, she uses the opportunity as a platform to eat it up and to cause conversation around herself. And that she has been doing the looks, have been looking. Cardi has a stylist. His name is Colin Carter. Colin has been working with Cardi since the start of her career. Colin is amazing. Okay. Colin is one of those stylists that tells stories throughout all of the clothing that he's styling his talent in. He works with Victoria Monet now, Kelly Rowland. So many amazing People. But it is very obvious Cardi B is his muse and they are so amazing together. Now, the reason why I'm talking about all this Paris Fashion Week stuff is because Cardi B. Was over in Paris Fashion Week minded her cute business. Okay? She decided to scrub, I' ma say, for whatever reason now, because we talked about this on the Breakfast Club and I said that the reports were that she scrubbed Stefan Diggs, who she is currently dating, the NFL player, from her Instagram. And because of that, the reports were that there was trouble in paradise, that they may have been broken up. And there is now an additional report that says that is not true. So what happened was Stephan Diggs does these YouTube content videos, these videos show like him working out, him doing, you know, the community give back days that he does. It's just kind of like a, you know, you're going along on a ride and day in his life type of thing. In one of those content videos, there is a video of Cardi B working out with Stefon Diggs. Now, it is obvious that this video is older, I would say about maybe about a month ago, Cardi B had posted video from the gym with Stephan Diggs and she was encouraging him, let's take a listen to that video because it was hilarious.
Unknown Speaker
That's right, boy. You can do it, boy. Seven more. You got it. That's right. Come on, one more, one more, one more. One more for the road.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, we knew she had been in the gym with him. You know, that wasn't a startling revelation that didn't make us think, okay, there is no trouble in paradise. But it's the timing with Cardi B recently being separated from Offset and trying to get back out there and have talked about how hard the separation has been for her, Offset talking about how hard it has been for him and trying to figure out co parenting. Cardi B stepping back out and dating is a big thing because we've seen Cardi B offset separate before. But Cardi B normally goes back to Offset and now we're seeing her in a castle with Stefon Diggs. This is the guy she's dating who took her to that castle to stay for a bit for vacation. So it wasn't a, a big surprise. You know, we, we heard Cardi in the gym cheering on her man. But the timeline was definitely something to point to because it is in the midst of all this conversation of is there trouble in paradise with Cardi B and Stefan Diggs? And I think a lot of not only are there people out there that are rooting for Cardi and want to see her move on and be happy or, you know, even if she decides to stay, wherever she's at, they want to see her happy, right? But there are people out there that feel like Stefon Diggs is not a great match for her because there is conversations around him and other women often, and, you know, he's an NFL player, just all of the things, right? Cardi B on her Twitter account, retweets a clip. So there was a fan account that tweeted a clip of Cardi B working out with Stephon Diggs in a new YouTube video. The tweet said, cardi B working out with Stephan Diggs. And Stephan's new YouTube video uploaded today with a heart. Cardi B's Twitter account then reposted the video. Now, all the breakup rumors were swirling, right? I reached out to Cardi B's team for an update of, like, hey, what is going on? She just deleted the photos because, you know, this is a part of the rollout as far as, like, she wants to clear her Instagram and make it all about her and her music. Not that she's using him for the rollout because that also was a conversation. I don't believe that, though. I actually believe that when Cardi is publicly seen with somebody and she's invested in them, she is. It was the same way with Offset. Been told, you know, there was no comment, so you know that it was left open. So when people see her retweet this and she hasn't said anything about anything in the midst of all this, hey, are y' all still together? What is going on? Is there trouble in paradise? Of course, you take that as, oh, okay, they good then. Heard you. So a source close to Cardi B and Stephon Diggs actually told TMZ that Stepon Diggs and Cardi B are not officially broken up in spite of, you know, anything that is swirling around, in spite of her removing him from her Instagram. And then Cardi B went on Twitter. It seems like she was responding to all of the noise online about them. This is in true Cardi B fashion, okay? She tweeted, shut the F up. Go to dinner, go shopping, go to the park, get off the Internet. Enough in all caps with exclamation points like she is tired of the people talking about her. Like, y' all ain't got nothing else better to do Now, I don't know exactly what is going on, right? Like, I don't know if the scrubbing of the Instagram. Because for me, even when I reached out to her team, I said, look, even if it's nothing going on, because they literally just went Instagram official what Cardi B posted, that was Memorial Day. It's only we just went through fourth of July. That's all of this stuff is new. There's a lot of eyes there because it's new. So her scrubbing him, she instantly knows that's going to send a message, even if she is not intending for it to. You got to know it's going to. So what's the message? I still don't know why that happened, why he was removed from her Instagram. But as of now, the update is they are not completely broken up. And I also don't know exactly what that means either, because you can be not completely broken up with somebody and still going through whatever you're going through behind the scenes, trying to figure it out or whatever. And I don't want that for Cardi. I feel like at this point, Cardi has been through enough publicly. She has kids, her babies are getting older to the point where, you know, they, they might venture onto a tick tock or, you know, or whatever. And I don't want. I, I just would hate to be a mom trying to figure it out in this space where I'm super famous. I have my babies, my kid's father is super famous as well. The new guy I'm dating is super famous as well. And I have to publicly go through anything that is more than love and happiness. But that's the update as of now. Anything additional y' all know? I'm trying to figure it out for y'. All. I will bring it back here to the Latest with Lauren LaRosa because that is what we do. As I tell you guys, every episode, you guys could be anywhere with anybody talking about these things because there's always a lot to talk about the end of the day. But y' all are right here with me and I appreciate you guys, my low riders. I will see you guys in my next episode. And as always, talk back. Let me know. I'll talk to y' all in my next episode. This is an I Heart podcast.
