James Dolan
Lauren came in hot.
Lauren LaRosa
Hey y', all, what's up? It's Lauren LaRosa and this is another episode of the Latest with Lauren LaRosa. This is your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment news, and all of the conversations that shake the room, baby. Well, the biggest conversation of the day, the Knicks headed to the White House. But first, the biggest parade that New York City has ever freaking seen. Let's check in behind the scenes of the grind and then we'll get into all of the things. Let's do it. Checking in behind the scenes of the grind, y'. All. We are coming to the end of our week and I am, when I say overjoyed. I am looking forward to celebrating Juneteenth this week. I am looking forward to sleep. I am looking forward to family these next couple weekends. Wow. Not even next couple weekends. This is actually one of my last weekends to be able to just like sit, chill, sleep, work on things. I, I always tell people when I'm not like working during the weekend that I'm working on my real life. So like things outside of entertainment, media related stuff, you know, you gotta deal with your real life too as you're dealing with your dreams and chasing your dreams and all the things. So just getting like real life affairs in order. Yeah, I'm like really looking forward to adulting and I'm never looking forward to adulting, but because I've had to put so many things on hold just because of like time and stuff like that, I'm just looking forward to Knocking stuff out, but really looking forward to sleep. We are gearing up to head on out to the BET Awards in about a week and that is going to be non stop. Although I have a break in between the BET Awards and Essence Festival. Yes, we will be at both. That is going to be non stop. So I've been learning to better pace just my, like, time and days and being very honest with myself about, you know, yo, I need rest. Like, I need sleep. Being very honest with myself about that because I'm not my best when I'm not well rested. And I think for a while getting, you know, trying to get everything in order and like stay on the beat and do all these things both in real life and at work, you're like, all right, cool. Like, I'll be up all night figuring this out if I had to. And then. And during the day, what I, what I've noticed about myself is the delivery and just, just me in general. I'm not the same when I'm not fully rested. And the older I get, the more I just. I appreciate it. Kevin Hart was talking to Michelle Obama and they were talking about the different things that actually, like, change in your life as you get older. And I'm not as old. And this is no shade to our forever first lady. I'm not as old as anybody that sat down in this conversation. It was Michelle Obama and her brother Craig Robinson for their podcast. In my opinion, Kevin Hart was on the podcast. He was a guest. I'm younger than all three of them, but with them talking about how things change when you get older, I felt it. Let's take a listen.
Kevin Hart
It's the things that break down, right? And the definitions form the words. You know, I think that that's the funniest thing that I found about getting old is that you have a word and reason for everything. Because right now I'm losing mobility in my elbow. So what they said to me is that you look for so much information. Yeah. So apparently I don't have the same recoil that I did. So I have to basically extend my elbow, but overextend to get the full variation of use. But other than that, I'm fine. Yeah, Other than that, I'm okay. But when it rains, it tightens up like it's that you turn into that.
Lauren LaRosa
And what did you say? You can't eat anything?
Kevin Hart
No. You get to the point where you
Lauren LaRosa
put lemon in water like, O child, that lemon's going to mess up my system. I cracked up because I feel that way.
Kevin Hart
You're much more regular the older you.
Lauren LaRosa
You know, sometimes it's like, not now, like, I'm not having the issues that they're talking about. But you do realize how much your body changes. Like, even me, like, being like out all night and being able to just like go to work in the morning. Like, I feel like the last time I was able to successfully do that and not be like sleepwalking and barely making it throughout my day was like two years ago. But the matter of like to the matter of two years has changed my ability and my thought process around rest because my body screams at me when it needs it. So take care of yourselves, prioritize taking care of yourself. And a lot of times it's easier said than done. Majority of the time, like probably 95% of the time is easier said than done. But we talked about this before. Still in them little pockets of joy, stealing them. So that's what I'm getting ready for basically to spend this weekend just recuperating, resting and catching up on things that have nothing to do with the latest news and trending topics, but real life. Deal with your real life, y'.
James Dolan
All.
Lauren LaRosa
You gotta deal with your real life as you're chasing your dreams or they catch up to you. Things catch up to you. Speaking of catching up to you, let's get on into the latest because what has caught up on us here in New York City is the parade.

Hello, this is Malcolm Glebel from Smart talks with IBM. Today. We're diving into a fascinating conversation with Stefano Pallard, head of fan development for Scuderia Ferrari hp.
Stefano Pallard
Your pronunciation is strongly American. It's more Scuderia Ferrari.
Malcolm Glebel
I'm still working on rolling my R's, but what I was able to learn from Stefano was the importance of engaging the Tifosi, the Ferrari superfans in the digital age.
Stefano Pallard
Ferrari fans and super fans want to be part of something, want to belong to something. So they want to be part of a community and ultimately they want to be part of a winning team.
Malcolm Glebel
You've got Ferrari, which has a long history, design history, and now you're interacting in a kind of digital space. I'm curious how you balance those two traditions.

When it comes to fan engagement, it's really digital technology, and digital channels are being able to create a deeper connection with our fans.

Lauren LaRosa
the Knicks parade is going down. It is finally here. I feel like we've been talking about this for about a week or so now, ever since the Knicks won the championship game against the spurs in Game five. Mamdani, who is our mayor here in New York, is already saying that this is slated to be the biggest parade that New York has seen in the city's history. This is the first parade that the Knicks have seen, but this is the biggest parade in New York City history. And when I say big, they're estimating, I think I saw earlier, like 1.7 million people to be here. I feel like New York is kind of underestimating the amount of people. You guys got to think about it, right? Like the FIFA World cup is going down. That's happening at MetLife Stadium right over here in Jersey. You have people that are traveling into the city. Even if they don't go to the parade, they're traveling into the city just because they want to just like be here and witness the vibes of everything. Literally today, not today. You could take that out. Literally yesterday around like 4 or 5 o', clock, there were Knicks fans that were camping out on the parade route just so they could get certain seats.
Starbucks Ad Voice
Streets.
Lauren LaRosa
Literally, like people did interviews with them. Let's take a listen. This is about to be so serious. I feel like we're going to at least see a good 4 million people trying to figure out the city they're shutting down like major. At 7am today, they're shutting down major streets. You know, people are not even trying to drive into New York City at all. I am still very undecided on if I will even attempt to at this point. It's like I don't even want to watch the. Watch the parade from within the parade or anything like that. But I was thinking about just being in the vicinity to be able to like see all of the people and all that.
Odoo Ad Voice
I.
Lauren LaRosa
That might not. I don't know anymore. I feel like it's. It's going to be so insane that it's going to be one of those things that like, you will get a better view and vision of from the outside looking in, if I'm being honest. So I, I still don't know where that's going to land. But. But it was announced today, speaking of the Knicks, that they will be headed to the White House now. We saw with the super bowl when the Eagles won a Super Bowl. Speaking of, the Eagles had like a million people at their parade. So you can get a million people in Philadelphia. You can get way more than 1.7 million in new York for the Knicks, Especially with the FIFA World cup happening right here in Jersey. Just a little side note, but yes, so James Dolan, he is one of his leadership over there at the Knicks, and he was on a radio show yesterday and he made the announcement that the Knicks have accepted the White House invite. Let's take a listen.
James Dolan
Are you looking forward to the celebration at the White House? The, the, As a matter of fact, thank you for asking me that. We just did receive an invitation from the White House, which we accepted. We still have to figure out the details, etc. But, you know. Yes, of course. I mean, you know, look, I invited the president to come down for the game, right? He is a friend. I've known him for 30, for 30 years. And I'm very proud to bring the team to the White House. You said you're privileged that a sitting president came to the Garden. First time ever for a Finals game. First time ever for any NBA Finals.
Pharmaceutical Ad Voice 2
That's right.
James Dolan
And then you guys get to go back and be celebrated for the entire country to see at the White House.
Lauren LaRosa
I brought up the Eagles because you guys will remember Jalen hurts. A ton of other people decided they weren't going to go to the White House. The report at the time, when, you know, I think it was about 12 players who decided not to go. The report at the time was like their schedules didn't align or something. Like, it was like scheduling conflicts. But we all know what that is. Like, people don't want to be aligned with Trump in his White House. And even if, like, I saw reporting that this will be a historic White House visit because there's been no NBA team during this administration's time that has made it to the White House because the last team that could have went declined. Nobody wants to be aligned with that. Like, even if you're just looking at it as a neutral, you know, I just want to go see the White House, Which Honestly, in 2026, I don't think that there is a neutral way to just say I want to go see the White House. Like, if you go and you see the White House and you take the pictures and you do all the things, when the Knicks go to visit, politically, you're picking aside a hundred percent. So I think we're going to see a lot of players opt out. Like, I, I, I doubt, like, especially from that, like starting five, starting six, line up the, like the cats, you know, the OGs. Like, you're gonna see a lot of people opt out. Even if, because we don't know a lot of, we don't know everyone's political views, but even if their political views align with Trump and his administration. You're going to see a lot of people about like people just don't want. It's like this is such a celebration time. It's like, I feel like, why bring all that smoke to yourself? Like why? But James Dolan and, and President Trump are, you know, long time friends. Dolan is the reason why Trump was even invited to the game that he did attend during the finals. So I'm not surprised here. I think what is going to be more surprising, and honestly, I don't even know if I would say it would be more surprising. But I think the next thing to watch out for is who announces that they're actually going to go or, you know, lack thereof.

the meantime, getting back to the celebration. Yes, it's wild here in New York, y'. All. I mean, they have Nick's trash cans. I saw. You know it because when you if you guys are listening to this episode, this episode is going to be taped prior to the parade actually happening. So things are just being anticipated. Like, you have people currently right now that are paying $750 or more. There are people standing in line along the parade route, four people who have paid them more than $750 to stand in line just so people can get to certain spots along the parade route. Like, this is about to be insane. Now, I'm seeing that they're going to do, you know, the security checks on the streets. I know they're shutting off like canal streets and in certain areas and like other big streets in certain areas. But. And they're telling people, you know, not to bring certain type of bags to the Parade. But, like, to be honest with y', all, like, the parade route isn't even that long, and then it ends at City hall, which is where they'll get the key to the city, the Knicks team. Right. To be honest with you, I feel like it's going to get to a certain amount of people where it's like, how can you control this amount of people? 10,000 police officers on the street is a lot of police officers, but it's not a lot compared to the amount of people I think we're about to see here in New York. We are about to. It is about to be insane. So we're making predictions now of how many people we think we will see. I'm guesstimating anywhere from 2.5 to 4 million people. Y', all, let me know what y' all think. Get out there in the streets, get in the tweets. Let me know what y' all think, because I'm telling you guys, I really think that New York is underestimating how, like, they're saying this is, like, the biggest. But the way that the. I'm talking about the preparation. There's a lot of preparation happening that started as of today. I saw Knicks jerseys being hung. You know, barricades are set up. People are announcing who are on their floats. Fat Joe is talking about, you know, he's doing the hip hop float for msg. He talked a bit about that. Let's take a listen. But with all that being said, security measures set up and everything, I still think that people are underestimating what this is about to be like. But we'll see. We start, we listen up. I'll be back in my next episode. Before I close the tail, I want to add something to the White House part. So once I saw this interview from James Dolan, I actually reached out to the White House. I've been reaching out to them since the Knicks won the championship, so that I could be in the queue for when it was announced or when it was decided whether they would accept the invite or not, because I was trying to announce it myself. Y' all know me always reaching out, but hadn't heard back. So when I saw the interview that James Dolan did, I reached out to them, and then I heard back from a White House official on background who, you know, they basically said to me, like, they've been in contact with the Knicks and they're looking forward to the team coming, because people are like, dolan gonna go by himself, though. They said they're looking forward to the team. That means they've been told that players are going to go up, so we'll see. I tell you guys, every single episode y' all could be anywhere with any old body talking about all of the things, but you guys choose to be right here with me, my low riders. I appreciate y'.

The episode weaves together personal reflections on getting older and prioritizing health, celebrity anecdotes, and a detailed look at the cultural and political weight of the Knicks’ upcoming victory parade and White House visit.

Knicks owner James Dolan confirmed that the team accepted the Trump White House invitation, emphasizing his personal connection to the President and the symbolism of the visit:
Loren contextualizes with past sports White House visits and political dynamics, referencing the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2018 Super Bowl team, many of whom declined to visit Trump’s White House:
"Even if... I saw reporting that this will be a historic White House visit because there's been no NBA team during this administration's time that has made it to the White House because the last team that could have went declined. Nobody wants to be aligned with that..."
She predicts that a significant number of Knicks players (especially “OGs” and starters) may opt out of the White House event:
"I think we're going to see a lot of players opt out. Like, I doubt... especially from that, like, starting five, starting six lineup... Even if their political views align... people just don't want... Why bring all that smoke to yourself? Like why? But James Dolan and President Trump are, you know, long-time friends..." [15:34]
She personally reaches out to the White House for comment and receives a statement that “they’re looking forward to the team coming,” but notes the uncertainty about actual player attendance. [22:47]
"You gotta deal with your real life as you're chasing your dreams or they catch up to you. Things catch up to you." – Loren LaRosa [08:09]
"10,000 police officers on the street is a lot of police officers, but it's not a lot compared to the amount of people I think we're about to see here in New York. We are about to. It is about to be insane." – Loren LaRosa [20:58]
"Politically, you're picking a side a hundred percent. So I think we're going to see a lot of players opt out." – Loren LaRosa [15:58]
"There are people standing in line along the parade route, for people who have paid them more than $750 to stand in line just so people can get to certain spots along the parade route. Like, this is about to be insane." – Loren LaRosa [19:56]
Loren LaRosa threads an energetic tapestry of New York culture on the brink of a historic moment, balancing it with introspective takes on health and growing older in a demanding industry. The episode captures both the anticipation and tiny anxieties around massive city celebrations and the complicated calculus of public figures in a deeply political climate. As always, Loren invites listeners to join her in processing not just the latest news, but life as it unfolds.
Final Note:
"Every single episode y’all could be anywhere with any old body talking about all of the things, but you guys choose to be right here with me, my low riders. I appreciate y’all." – Loren LaRosa [23:10]
