Lauren LaRosa
Hey y', all, what's up? It's Lauren LaRosa and this is the latest with Lauren the Rosa. This is your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment, news, exclusive and all of the conversations that shake the room. I'm your host, Lauren Therosa and let's get right on into it. So today, fresh out, popping right out. I'm bringing you guys an exclusive and we'll discuss it a bit here. Then I'm gonna save a little bit of the Sauce for the Breakfast Club as well. So make sure you guys tune on in and take a listen to the Latest with Lauren LaRosa there as well, after you listen to this episode. Right. So there have been reports of Remy Ma throwing shots. Clarissa Shields way on a song, potentially a diss record. Now, there's an artist named Connie Diamond. She is a fire artist. I love Connie Diamond. She is out of New York, I believe. Connie is out of the Bronx. Let me see. I feel like she be saying big Bronx. Okay. Yeah, out of the Bronx here in New York. And you guys may remember her or recognize her because she had that song. Well, first of all, if you're from New York, you know Connie diamond in general, because a lot of the female rap scene here, I mean, she's a part of it. You can't ignore her. I got to know her music the summer that I moved to New York. Everywhere I went out, they were playing, like. Cause, you know, there's a lot of the drill artists, and that's, like, such a big thing here in New York. But when it comes to the female drill rappers, there weren't a lot of female drill rappers that I was hearing. So the summer that I moved to New York, Maya the Don and Connie diamond, like, their music was. It was running crazy. And Lola, of course, was running crazy here in New York. She had the song Ghetto and Ratched that Remy Ma hopped on. The remix of that song was everywhere. So even if you're not here in New York, you're probably familiar with that song. But Connie diamond dropped a new project. It is called Underdog Season 2. Now, this project dropped September, around September 12, so it's only been circulating for a few weeks. But there is a song on this project that fans are pointing to because Remy Ma, who is a very close friend of hers, by the way, she's talked about Remy Ma and just some of the things that she's been able to learn from Remy as a female rapper, a rapper from New York, you know, one of the rap girls who's, like, sexy and beautiful and doing other things, but also she raps, and her Personas very much don't play with her. And we know that is that was Remy Ma as well. So you can kind of see where the mentorship and the friendship and the, you know, all the vibes come in there. So they've gotten really close from that time. And Connie credits her, you know, for giving her advice and being able to be, you know, one phone call away all the time. This song drops on her Underdog Season 2 project, and the fans go crazy. And there have been reports that this song is a dis to Clarissa Shields. I have spoken to Connie diamond, and she tells me this was not a dis song at all. That is not true. Let's take a listen to the song. You number two when you mad him the one, it ain't my fault. You a dusty and bum. That verse right there from the song is what people. You know, that's what people are pointing to now. Okay, to the fans point, when you hear, why would I fight you? You're number two. Why would I fight you when I'm the one? It's, you know, Clarissa Shield walks around rightfully so because she is number one in what she does, letting people know she's number one. We saw them argue back and forth online, and that whole thing with, you know, Papoose and Clarissa, and, you know, when Remy aired out the situation and we then learned that Papoose and Clarissa were dating in the first place, there was a lot of Argum arguing back and forth. And during that argument, Clarissa Shields came out and said, y', all come get in the ring. Let's. Let's. Let's box. Like, come get in the ring. And that was put out there for her as well. And Remy's like, wow, now why would I do that? Like, so rightfully so, fans, you know, there were a few entertainment outlets that picked up on this as well, too. I get it. I think we all kind of. And then also, the name of the song is Head Tap. The name of the song is Head Tap. Okay, everything in this one little part, but mind you, it's a full song. But everything in this one little part, you could definitely take and infer could have been direct shots or jabs, no pun intended, at Clarissa Shields. But from what I'm told by Kani diamond, it is not a diss song. Now, I do have a friend who mentioned to me that, you know, prior to me reaching out to Connie, I reached out to someone kind of close to the situation who had told me the same thing, that it was not a diss track, that they were just in the booth talking, you know, doing what they do, talking their talk, doing what they do. But this was not something that was like, okay, this is the moment where I'm taking shots at her on a record. That is not Remy's focus at this point. It's, you know, what I'm told. But I do want to say, though, I mean, the song is getting the attention. Kylie diamond just dropped the project. So now if y' all gonna talk about this, if we gonna talk about it, you gotta go listen to the full project. I want to say in me researching this song and trying to figure out. Because in trying to figure out if this was a diss or not, I got more in depth with what the project even is, because it's called Underdog Season two. So Connie diamond put this out in the caption. This is what kind of got me thinking, maybe this is not a diss track. Like, maybe this is just the rap girls really rapping her caption. Connie diamond posted the album art for this and said, underdogs don't move alone. These are the masterminds behind the boards that gave Underdog Season its heartbeat. And she's like, you know, just showing love to some of the people that worked on the project with her. She says, this ain't just my season. As our season. The producers, the creatives, the engineers, the visionaries, every underdog that helped make Underdog Season 2 legendary, even the ones that are no longer with us. Thank you. Sidebar. The people working behind the scenes never get enough shine. So let's turn the lights. Drop a heart if you ready. So stuff like that, I'm like, I don't know. I really think maybe this is just her season feeling like. And Connie diamond, you know, in having this conversation with her about this project behind the scenes and getting ready for this segment, I invited her to come onto the show so we could have a conversation just about, like, you know, where the New York rap girl scene is for the girls that are considered underground that are blowing up. I know Connie diamond has been. I feel like she has kind of left kind of like that underground world. But I do think that she's still fighting for a lot of people in a lot of ears to hear her. So when I read this caption, I'm like, I think that this project, she wants this to be just kind of like, yo, I'm here, even though she's been here. But, like, no pun intended to Clarissa Shields. But, like, she's stepping in the ring. She ready for the fight. She's here. And that's the energy that this record with Remy is giving. So nothing more we can say on that because again, you heard it. You heard it right from the source. You heard it right from Connie diamond herself via the Latest with Lauren LaRosa that this was not a diss at Clarissa Shields. This was not a diss song. They just doing what they do.

Now in other news, speaking of this is or lack thereof, I think Mariah Carey didn't kind of threw some shots Nick Cannon's way and we gonna be hearing that pretty soon. So Mariah Carey has a new project coming out that she has been going around everywhere and promoting it. When she was at the I Heart Festival she talked a lot about it. She's been doing, she did Kai Sinatra stream which I saw a video earlier of Talil who's a part of like Kai's like streamer group saying that Mariah Carey was the worst guest they ever had. And there are a lot of the lambs which you know, I'm a lamb, I'm a Mariah Carey fan that we're upset about him for saying that or we're Upset at him for saying that. I think a lot of it is the age thing because Mariah Carey is Mariah Carey and she's older and these are younger, you know, people that we're just now getting to meet. I get it. But I, I honestly, I felt like what he said wasn't disrespectful. It was just honest. Let's take a listen to Salil.
Kai Stream Commentator
The word celebrity. Oh, my gosh. That has came to mafia's own three. Mariah Carey.
Lauren LaRosa
Damn.
Ryan Seacrest
All right.
Kai Stream Commentator
And I only say. And I only say Mariah Carey because I feel like her intentions was to promote her album. And. And I. And I don't feel like there's nothing wrong with that, you feel, I'm saying, because business builds. You got to respect. You got to respect good business, you feel, I'm saying. But what was it? What was it? What was the exchange for us?
Lauren LaRosa
Like?
Kai Stream Commentator
I know she didn't want to sing. I know she didn't want to dance.
Ryan Seacrest
You feel, I'm saying.
Kai Stream Commentator
But I feel like Kai, he had up his inner burger. She promoted her album, spoke to kids. He did everything that he wanted. He did everything that. That probably was her team attention, her intentions. And I feel like it wasn't really. It wasn't really nothing in change. If you're going to come on MAFIA Thorn, you feel, I'm saying you have to come and you have to be vulnerable. You feel I'm saying you have to come. Be ready to do what's in the box. Be ready to do hot ones. Be ready to jump in the pool. Be ready to. You feel I'm saying, be ready to come. Come have fun.
Lauren LaRosa
So the album is called Here for all the album drops on September 26th. Now, the album there, you know, there. Anderson Pak is on the album who she also talks about in this G King interview. Not only is he in the album, but he's in one of the visuals for the album, for the song that he's on. And they're very much in love in this video. Okay, Smiling, happy, touchy, touchy. All the things. But the. The little shot that I think. And this is not anything she confirmed in an interview, but I'm gonna tell you how I got here. So let's take a listen. Mariah Carey talks about a song that she wrote where she mentions or she kind of like an open letter to a narcissist that she had to deal with in her life. Let's take a listen.
Gayle King
I won't entertain all your narcissistic ways. I won't allow it. Did you have a specific person in mind, or was that just a random thought? Were you looking at a picture internally? Why did you want to include that one? I liked it. I like the vibe of it, you know, but it's. It's a little saucy.
Lauren LaRosa
Now, y' all know we just had a conversation with Nick Cannon at the Breakfast Club, and one of the things he revealed to us was that he recently was diagnosed as a narcissist. Now, granted, the album drops in a few weeks, Mariah Carey's album, so there's no way she saw that interview and then went and wrote this song and, you know, whatever. And, of course, Nick Cannon is not the only narcissist in the world. He may be one of, like, the only people I know that went and actually got diagnosed with it. By the way, I only think men can be diagnosed as narcissists if we're. If we're chatting about it. I'm joking. But I do think that it was. I think it's interesting. I think it's interesting to sit down with Nick Cannon and hear him say what he said on the Breakfast Club and hear him say that it took him up until this time to even understand that he was a narcissist and to, you know, to start getting some help or having conversations with people about it. And Mariah Carey makes this whole record about dealing with the narcissist at some point in her life. I'm putting two and two together just because. I mean, it's just what I do. But y' all let me know what y' all think here with this one. If she may have been talking about him, because I think a lot of the conversation around Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon is always. I mean, a lot of it Nick Cannon has contributed to, too, that he couldn't handle being with her because of her fame and, you know, all of those things. And he's spoken to that. But we never really got to hear too much about what she felt from him in that relationship because he couldn't handle those things. And he talked about his ego in that relationship. Relationship in certain things at the Breakfast Club as well. So I don't know. I think I'm picking up what Mariah's putting down. I kind of think she's talking about him, but, you know, that's just me inferring here. But one of the things she did talk about indefinitely, and she kind of didn't talk around. She gave us enough to be able to take it and leave with it, Gayle King asked her about her current relationship, or lack thereof, with Anderson Paak. And here's what she had to say.
Gayle King
I reached out to him. Why him? He's brilliant. That's a good reason. He's really a great artist. Now, you know, there are pictures of you all holding hands. Is this just a. He just likes to hold my hand. He just grabs my hand. I don't know what he's doing. Listen, I think holding hands is very nice. Are you saying it's just strictly we're just friends, but because now people are cheering for you, thinking, I hope this is a thing or maybe it's not a thing. How do you see it? He's a hand holding club.
Lauren LaRosa
I know that's right. Hand holding club. I'mma use that one. She said, he's in the hand holding club. I think, you know, as you get older and you're dating and this is not all new for you and you know, it's different when you're Mariah Carey number one and Anderson Paak is famous as well too. Um, but when you're Mariah Carey bringing people into your world and now especially. Cause she has kids now. Her and the Candace twins are older to the point where they can recognize. Mommy got a little friend. He not just her uncle. This is mommy's friend. Friend. I don't know if you've ever had to call your mom's friend your uncle. I have. It is a very confusing experience if you know, you know, but they know what's going on. So at this point, I think she has to approach things the way that she's approaching them. And this is not sis's first rodeo whatsoever. So I do understand that she, you know, she knows how to navigate it in a way where she can express what she just expressed, which gives that she's happy with where they are. It's important to her because he's spending very quality time and very sensitive time with her. But you ain't gonna get too much else, period. And that's all. She did the same thing about Nick Cannon in an interview too as well.
Gayle King
I kind of feel like it's best if I don't talk about him because he can just be in his own.
Lauren LaRosa
World at the end of the day, y', all, there is a lot to talk about. Now, we didn't got into some things this episode, but y' all choose to be here with me every single episode to do it. Episode: Did Remy Ma drop a Claressa Shields diss track?? + Mariah Carey taking some shots at an unnamed “narcissist”
Date: September 24, 2025
Host: Loren LaRosa
Produced by: The Black Effect, iHeartPodcasts
Loren LaRosa delivers an energetic breakdown of two major trending topics in pop culture: rumors surrounding a Remy Ma diss track allegedly aimed at Claressa Shields, and speculation over whether Mariah Carey’s “narcissist” reference in her new album is a shot at Nick Cannon. Loren combines exclusive commentary, personal insights, and direct sources to clarify celebrity gossip while highlighting the latest moves from women in hip hop and R&B.
[02:13–09:15]
Connie Diamond, emerging from the Bronx, released Underdog Season 2 around September 12.
The track “Head Tap” with Remy Ma sparked speculation about subtle shots at Claressa Shields due to lines like:
“You number two when you mad him the one, it ain't my fault. You a dusty and bum.”
[04:50]
Fans and outlets drew connections between the lyrics and a previous public back-and-forth between Remy, Claressa Shields, and Papoose, including Shields publicly challenging Remy to a boxing match.
“When I read this caption, I'm like, I think that this project, she wants this to be just kind of like, yo, I'm here, even though she's been here. But, like, no pun intended to Clarissa Shields. But, like, she's stepping in the ring. She ready for the fight.”
[08:08]
[11:17–17:46]
Mariah Carey is gearing up to release her new project, Here For All (dropping September 26). She has been actively promoting it at events and digital platforms.
During recent media appearances (iHeart Festival, Kai Sinatra’s stream), Mariah faced critiques for being focused on promotion and not “joining in the fun,” as described by commentator Salil:
“I only say Mariah Carey because I feel like her intentions was to promote her album…But what was the exchange for us?...I know she didn't want to sing. I know she didn't want to dance.”
[12:25–12:40]
The focal speculation is about a song Mariah describes as being an “open letter to a narcissist.” Gayle King asks Mariah directly about the inspiration for the lyrics:
“I won't entertain all your narcissistic ways. I won't allow it. Did you have a specific person in mind, or was that just a random thought?”
[13:48]
Nick Cannon, Mariah’s ex-husband, recently revealed on The Breakfast Club that he was diagnosed as a narcissist—fueling speculation the song is about him, though timing makes this uncertain.
“Now, granted, the album drops in a few weeks, Mariah Carey's album, so there's no way she saw that interview and then went and wrote this song...But I do think that it was...interesting to sit down with Nick Cannon and hear him say what he said on the Breakfast Club and hear him say that it took him up until this time to even understand that he was a narcissist.”
[14:07–14:39]
Loren notes that Mariah has mostly stayed silent on her emotional experience from her marriage, contrasting with Nick’s more public disclosures about why their relationship ended.
[16:04–17:46]
“He just likes to hold my hand. He just grabs my hand. I don't know what he's doing. Listen, I think holding hands is very nice…He's a hand holding club.”
[16:23–16:37]
“You ain't gonna get too much else, period. And that's all. She did the same thing about Nick Cannon in an interview too as well.”
[17:12]
On Remy Ma & Connie Diamond rumors:
“This was not a diss song. They just doing what they do.” [08:53]
On Mariah as a guest:
“I know she didn't want to sing. I know she didn't want to dance…you have to come and you have to be vulnerable.” [12:40–13:10]
On Mariah’s supposed “narcissist” song:
“I kind of think she's talking about him, but, you know, that's just me inferring here.” [15:39]
Mariah on Anderson .Paak:
“He's a hand holding club.” [16:37]
The Latest with Loren LaRosa unpacks sensational headlines with nuance, confirming the Remy Ma diss rumors as unfounded and offering pointed (if speculative) insight on Mariah Carey’s subtle lyrical jabs. Loren’s connections and clarity distinguish the podcast as an essential guide for dissecting today’s trending pop culture stories with both edge and empathy.
