Hey, y', all, what's up? It's Lauren LaRosa. And this is the latest with Lauren LaRosa. This is your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment, news, exclusives, and all of the conversations that shake the room. Now, I'm the homegirl that knows a bit about everything and everybody. So let's get on in to the latest now in the latest today. First up, y' all know we have been talking about Lil Nas X everywhere at this point. Breaking news. As I was walking into the studio today to record, I received an email from the media department from the LA County DA's office who had released some information on Lil Nas X. So they released info on his charges, his bail amount, because things are basically getting going. And from what it looks like at the time of me recording this video, it is 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time on August 25, 2025. Little NAS X will probably be bailed out in the next coming hours, according to his family members who were outside of the courtroom for his arraignment today. So Little Nas X, from what I'm told from the LA County DA's office, pled not guilty during his arraignment today in a Van Nuys courthouse. Van Nuys is. It's a part of California. It's considered the Valley California. Now, he has a preliminary hearing. So he does have to. Once he post bail, he'll have to come back to court for all of this stuff, for all of the videos, all the newness, all the things. He'll be back in court on September 15th. His bail is set at $75,000. And that was all that they could tell me. Now, I asked a few questions because in the beginning of this, it was told and reported, and from everything that I received from officials, Lil Nas X was being held because of the charge that he was facing. He was charged with suspicion of battery on a police officer or a peace officer. And because of this charge, it was an automatic appearance. So he had to appear in front of a judge. He was not allowed to be cited, so he spent the weekend in jail. Now, we talked about this on the Breakfast Club as well there, too. But again, following the report on the Breakfast Club, now, Lil Nas X has been to court. He has pled not guilty, and he has been giving a bail that his family was outside of the courthouse and they were very, you know, adamant about the fact that Lil Nas X will be coming home today. His dad was actually outside of the Courthouse and gave these comments. Let's take a listen.

So I want to start that back from the beginning. I just want to. I want to highlight one specific part in the beginning. Let's play hear it one more time from the beginning.

All right. She's great. How do you cope with being in jail? God is good. I don't think I can say God is good. God has a plan as he talks about what happened on. On Thursday. No, I think you all know everything that you need to know about what happened Thursday. Well, George involved illegal drugs. Absolutely not.

All right, so one. Some of the things I want to point out here. So first of all, Lil Nas X's dad, you guys hear him talk about God a lot in this interview. Lil Nas has talked a lot about his dad being the influence on his music career, his dad being a gospel music artist himself, all the things. So it's very obvious that Lil Nas X comes from a praying, praying down family. Okay? They say what. What he gonna do first thing when he get out? Give God all the glory because God is good all the time. And all the time, God is good. Amen. That's my mom over there for y' all who don't know. She's in the building. It is her birthday. She has been tagging along. So, yes, that is one of the things that I wanted to point out first. Right. Another big thing here. Lil Nas X's dad makes a very big statement. They ask about drugs. Because if you guys remember when we first began to report this story, police believe that Lil Nas x was potentially ODing or suffering some sort of something from drugs. But the report was a possible od. So he was taken to a hospital before he was taken to any jail or any type of any. Any other place, he was taken to a hospital. Now, the reason why I wanted to point that out is because that changes the whole story now, right? So if it's not a possible od, there's no drugs involved whatsoever, according to his dad, which his dad just said on the record. I then start thinking, okay, what is Lil Nas X's team, legal team? Where are they about to lean when it comes to what his defense is? Because I said in the beginning of this, little Nas X has pled not guilty. And the charges that he's looking at right now, it's not that misdemeanor. He is now charged with three counts of felony battery with injury on a police officer and one felony count of resisting an executive officer. Right. But they're pleading not guilty and they're saying drugs were not involved. So what I'm assuming, and I am predicting here, is that they'll probably lean into something about a mental state of some sort. That's one prediction. The other prediction that I think could potent we could potentially see here, that I hope we do not see here, is that little Nas X will have to come out and say this was all a prank and that when the police were called, things went too far. And he's thinking he can explain that. He will then be able to show why there was no resisting to police officers. And maybe there was an exchange of some sort, which we. I mean, even with that, there was nothing recorded by pedestrians. Right. And I don't know if these officers are required body cam or not. To me, I think it's a. It's very. It's a. It's a huge telltale sign that, number one, they're pleading not guilty to everything. And number two, his dad is saying on record drugs were not involved when typically in a situation like this, if it is a mental breakdown of sorts, if drugs are involved, you don't come out and. And, you know, separate yourself from that because that can help when, you know, people are thinking about what the consequence should be here. Now, there are reports that Little Nas is looking at jail time based on these charges. But normally when things are reported that way, it's kind of extreme. It's a bit sensationalized. Only because, I mean, if you're talking about facts, right, these charges do carry up to something and typically it's up to jail time. But. But when you look at.

The fact is that he has to answer to the calling of the police out there, but that's it so far.

Yeah. But here. But the thing is, is that. So what I'm trying to get to is all of their defenses. That would help soften this a bit. Right. Because in the beginning, police said that it was a potential od, so that he might have been on some substance of some sort, which is why we saw him gallivant him on. You ain't see the they. Lil Nas X was just running around LA 4am in panties. And the panties and tighty whities and white boots. And then he strips naked at one point. And then police detain him. But what they're alleging is, is that when they went to detain him, he shoved. At first it was one officer. Now the story has changed and they're alleging that there were multiple officers who were allegedly in a physical exchange of some sort with Lil Nas X resulting in these new charges. I'm basically saying here, because you can still have a mental episode of sorts without drugs being involved. So they're either going into that or mom to explain it to you and to everyone else who may not know. A lot of people believe that this is a publicity stunt by Lil Nas X because he is a music artist that is known for doing so. Right. So I believe it could be the mental episode conversation. And, you know, hopefully, because his dad did say in this clip as well, he's doing good mentally so hopefully he's doing good mentally. Another point that his dad brings up here, too is that his dad says he's going to get all of the help he needs. Needs. So that's what made me think. I don't think it's going to be the publicity stunt thing. His dad said he's going to get all the help he needs. Meaning that there is something here that they're saying, okay, he's not guilty of what the. The cops are alleging. Right. That's what a little Nas X's legal team is saying. But at the same time, something happened here where they're talking about him receiving help of some sort. Rehabilitation or something. Of some sort of. But they won't go into what it is. So these are just clues, context clues that I'm picking up from that interview with Lil Nas X's father. And I was reporting this on the Breakfast Club for the Latest with Lauren LaRosa there. I was like, you know, this makes no sense to me because if it's a misdemeanor, even if it is, you know, there was like a bit of resisting or whatever with this peace officer. Police officer. Right. Why is he being held with no bail? In the beginning, he was being held with no bail. And then we found out the reason why he was held was because the type of charge and because the charge was what it was, he had to go see a judge, as we mentioned. But now it's elevated from a misdemeanor to felony charges. So there's information here in the middle that we are not privy to that we. I'm trying to figure it out.

Well, the doctors just probably need to figure it out. He needs to be tested and seen what kind of drugs. And as we know, everyday people, not only superstars, but everyday people, have to be careful about people sneaking drugs. Pills. Sicily, there's pills.

Oh, you mean. Well, well, his dad just said drugs weren't involved. That's what I'm saying. So that changes the conversation now because police were saying they thought drugs were involved and they thought he was potentially.

Well, even with the police alleging that, I think. I think that the doctor. That they should get some tests done so that they can know. Exactly. Because the guy may not even know what's going on. It's nothing that he purposely did have, maybe taken.

Got you. Yeah, yeah. I mean, but his dad is saying drugs weren't involved, so that would mean that there would be nothing in his system.

Yeah. But if the police find his actions extraordinary, that. Which should be a cause for the doctors to.

Be at least a little. Yeah, I mean, you know, we don't. I can't. We're in a time of lazy workers, and I know. No, no, no, it's not. It's that serious. Especially when it comes to health and welfare. If there's any potential of something being him being drugged. I mean, guys get drugged as well as girls, you know, Take out the test. Do. Do some tests and figure it out.

Yeah, well, we'll have to just wait and see, because as of right now, we don't know anything. All we know is what we just heard from his dad. All we know is what just happened during his arraignment hearing. I told you guys, there'll be another hearing on September 15th, so we'll be on the lookout. I do not believe that even if Lil Nas X does a whole sit down, tell all all the things, y' all still ain't gonna believe him. Now, if he comes out and says, hey, this was the PR Son, I'd be like, okay, whatever. We knew it. Y' all will move on. If he comes out and says anything beyond that, y' all still are not gonna believe this little boy at all. Because I think people have their minds made up because of antics we've seen from him in the past. And I will say, because I told you guys via my X account, make sure you guys are following me there. Lauren LaRosa. I break stories across social media, bring it here to the podcast, take it to the. The Breakfast Club as well. But if you are following me on social, you get everything fast and first, right? I told you guys on social that there would be no mug shot. The first visual, and you guys will notice this that everyone is grabbing and hanging on to is that there's a. There's a zoom visual or video visual of him in court on the arraignment. And the reason why people are gravitating toward that is because people just wanted to see it. People don't believe that this is real. They think that this is a full stunt publicity for new music. Now, if I'm Lil Nas X, because y' all not gonna believe me anyway, it doesn't matter what the real issue is here. I'm grabbing that screenshot and I'm putting it on merch. All right, now you're gonna move on in the latest because I got a chance to do Brilliant Idiots, Schultz was not there when I, when everybody I tell that I got that I was on Brilliant Idiots, literally everybody told him, like, oh my God, how did it go? Like, I think people were expecting me to have been there with Charlemagne and Schultz and Schultz just be his funny self and me not be able to handle the jokes. But first of all, I can handle a little jokey joke. Okay? I think the dynamic on Brilliant Idiots is a lot more fun than Breakfast Club because it's less people. So you really get to like get in and you have more time too. Like when I'm doing the Latest with Lauren LaRosa on Hear the podcast on the Breakfast Club, my time is so limited and I have four people so in that lane. And I also learned a lot too about playing your role from platform to platform. So in, in the role on the Breakfast Club, I'm a lot of times I'm moderator. Like there are certain times where I'm, you know, reporting or giving a take, but a lot of times I'm moderating, like I'm throwing the OOP and just Sharla and Envy are coming in with their takes, their opinions. And a lot of times my oops are just, you know, here's the fact, like my alley oop might be the fact. It might be, you know, to open in line to get them into the segment. It might be to throw to the audio. Brilliant Idiots was so different because that was my first time in a setting. I mean, we did the, this was like one of my first, this was an early episode in the Latest with Lauren LaRose of the podcast. So make sure you guys go back and check this out. But this was my first time being in a long form space with Charlamagne and it was so fun. I knew it would be fun though, because I, I, I watch Brilliant Idiots so I know that they like the joke, they have a good time. I love the way this, the show is set up where like they cover topics, they cover everything on there from like politics to we was on there talking about Meatball from Philly, just everything. So I knew it would be a good time, but I didn't think, I don't think I knew how well the banter would go because again, it was my first time doing it, but we had a good time. I did not know. I know somebody who was there when the Internet started. I'm gonna tell my niece that she gonna think I'm old. So we had fun. Because I think even in moments like that, the best thing about the brilliant idiots experience was I feel like their audience got to learn, like my personality because again, I'm not having to throw any oops. I'm literally just there. I did realize in the beginning of it when we were talking about Lil Nas X, I'm like, yo, I went straight into no, because here's the detail. And they said this and this is what Police said and whatever. And then I was like, Lauren, you just naturally do that, like, sit back and relax, have a good time. And then, you know, get into the gist of the thing. So we were able to do that. So that was fun. And I always love picking on charlamagne and all his many different face colors. But we did get into. We got into a couple conversations. So one of the conversations we got into was an excerpt from Kelly Rowland. And y' all were really, really mad at me because I said this the first time I had a little boo friend, his grandmother compared me to the color of a paper bag and said that I was too chocolate. I literally was like, what does that mean? And I came home and I talked to my mama T about it and she said, there's a definition of colorism.

I'm like, yo, when have you ever seen two brown skinned, like real black girls in mainstream media? Breakfast Club is mainstream media. I say that all the time. I look at them too.

Well, listen, I believe in colorism, but I believe in it the other way because of the Fact that dark skinned people have been getting shit for so long. Just like white people, as soon as you start to experience what you've given people for so long, now you want to stop. Now when the rabbit got the gun.

Y' all was so mad. So first of all, my mom is super, super light skinned. She is freckle faced beauty, about five five, a brown girl.

Well, the reason why I said that is because people got upset at me because I said, I think it's fire that me and Jess, two brown, two dark skinned, or I said, might have said brown skin or dark skinned. But y' all know what I mean on mainstream or on mainstream media and real black girls, like it's fire because we're real black girls, child. All the light skinned girls came out swinging. I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on, baby. I wasn't even. That wasn't a shot at y'. All. And which is so weird because it's like the minute a dark skinned woman refers to herself as a real black girl, light skinned women or lighter skinned women instantly take that as a diss. And I'm like, we got so much like we're so at like odds and there's so much, you know, turmoil in the midst of the two that so many people miss. What I said, it went over their heads. Yeah, again, it went over their heads because my mom is a light skinned woman and mom, did that offend you, what I said?

I'm just simply trying to make the point I was trying to get to when I said real black girls. That wasn't saying that because we are dark skinned. We are only the, the only people considered real black girls. What I was talking about is normally in mainstream media, right when it comes to fashion runways, commercials, you know, brands, even across social media now, radio, television, when you think about what black women in those spaces, and I mean dominating in those spaces. So like top shows, you know, making the real bucks on commercial and stuff like that, you're not seeing girls that everything's very androgynous. It's like, okay, she's A black girl. But like, in order for you to be a dark skinned or brown skinned black woman, you know, in a lot of these, like what people would consider these high end, high paid, whatever, you know, places as visual representation of black, right? So when you look at some of the couture ads, runways and all the things, these women are typically not girls from around the way, we have Sherry shepherd on television, we got Tamron hall, we have Jennifer Hudson on tv. But for a while, the only person relatively close to me on television, Black woman in that space was Wendy Williams. But for the most part and for a long time in mainstream media, you did not get that you were told to turn it down.

What you talking about getting on a platform with hair color? No, not at all. That wasn't. Especially if you were a black girl. It just wasn't something that you were seeing. They're lost.

Because now when you see all these different hairstyles, it's like, wow, it is.

But people still go, it's still like a thing, right? Like there was a time where all of the journalist girls who were wearing braids while they were reporting on local news were going viral. And the reason why that is like, because for us it's like, okay, homegirl got braids. It's probably hot outside, right? Or she about to go on vacation, or she just want to protect her hair because she working hard every single day. But it was going viral because we as black women were so excited to see it. Because in those spaces, you're not seeing that your hair should be. There is a, there's an elitism thing when it comes to hair, when it comes to look, when it comes to skin color, like just all these things, right. My whole point in all of this was to say that the comment that I made was more about a classism thing and, you know, getting away from the whole elitism and honestly erasing those barriers. Like whether you consider yourself. Yeah. Whether you consider yourself one of those people who isn't around the way, girl or not, black women are black women. And for me, I love the fact that. Because also too, we have a lot of conversations about this. I say words how I say them. I'm learning on air in real time a lot of times. I remember during the Diddy trial, I did an interview with the Shade Room and I said something about did their big one. Everybody in the comments was like, Lauren should not be talking like that. She is a journalist. And I'm like, but that's how I talk. Like, what do you want Me to do that is how I talk now. Yeah, I agree. Certain things for certain places, but, I mean, there's some things that you're just. It. When you get. When you. When you bring me into it, you're going to get certain things, and I can't get away from that. And what I love about the Breakfast Club.

What I love about the Breakfast Club is that the Breakfast Club, they don't run from that, nor do they make us run from it. I've worked in places where, you know, the biggest thing in my mind was, don't become that token black girl. So I didn't want to say certain stuff. I didn't want to talk about certain things. I didn't want to do certain things, because then I would become the black girl who's the punchline or the black girl who has to explain everything I'm saying or, you know, all the things, right? Even getting your hair done, going into certain places, you think about, okay, what questions am I going to get? What am I going to have to deal with today? Because I went and got my hair done last night, I don't have to do that at the Breakfast Club. I mean, Breakfast Club is black, but also it's mainstream. All types of people watch the Breakfast Club and learn from the Breakfast Club and tune in, and it's just a. It's refreshing to see, and you don't see it. You just don't see it. So when I made the comment, I was being very genuine about how I felt, and I stand on that. But some of y' all got so offended, and I'm like, but why, though? Like, let's have a real conversation about what I'm actually talking about here. That's it. All right, y'.
