This is an iHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Baby. Now today, checking in behind the scenes of the grind. Feeling good last night. Me, Jess, hilarious, and my boyfriend went to a premiere here in New York City for Kelly Rowland and Method Man's new film called Relationship Goals. So the movie is based off of Pastor Mike Todd. Y' all know Pastor Mike Todd here on the podcast because we have recently talked about him with the whole Drew Ski church skit. So Pastor Mike Todd wrote a book that he released during the pandemic. It was. It was very successful. It was a New York Times bestselling book called Relationship Goals. He also did a series of through the Church about Relationship goals as well. And this book just talks about, you know, things that happen in relationships, how to get through them, adjusting your mental, adjusting your aim when you're looking to get in a relationship with a person as well, all of that type of stuff. Right. So the way that this movie is set up, you guys should go definitely watch it. And it's out now, now on Amazon Prime. And I'm not being paid to promote this. I just actually enjoyed the movie more. So I enjoyed the conversations that the movie sparked afterward, like, and even, like, while, like, we were in the. The movie premiere. So I think if you go watch it, it'll do the same for you. Right? So, okay, so the movie is set up like what Will Packer did with Steve Harvey. And. And when I say that, I mean his Think Like a Man book. And basically, if you've ever seen that movie, you know that the whole, like, everything is set around the book, like, in real time. Right? So to do the same thing with Mike Todd in Kelly Rowland's character, she is this, like, powerful, successful showrunner at a daytime news channel. And then you have Method Man's character who comes in trying to take her job, but the two used to date, and most of the people they work with don't know this. So it's. You're watching them on screen. First of all, their chemistry is amazing on screen, but you're watching them in this movie try to fight. Well, really, Kelly Rowland tries to fight the chemistry, but you're watching them deal with the chemistry of their past, try to fight what's actually happening in the present, while also just dealing with a lot of different issues with one's self. And then also all of the surrounding characters do the same. So Kelly Rowland's friends are doing the same, people that she's working with are doing the same. And she's personally doing a lot of dealing with the BS and fixing her aim in the movie. So we got to take, we got to watch the movie. The cast was also there. So Metheman, Kelly, Rowling, Robin, the, like every. The full cast was there. This is the Devon Franklin movie. You guys know Devon Franklin, he is pastor, former, not even former television exec, Hollywood exec. Was formally married to Megan Good. Newly engaged now though. But yeah. So Devon Franklin has this deal with Tyler Perry, a development deal where they are making a ton of faith based films. And when I tell you guys, I, we. I did. So I saw Relationship Goals and then I saw his first film which was called Ruth and Boaz, which starred Tyler Lepley and Sariah. Y' all have to watch this. Like it, he's doing. It's, it's like, okay, it's very faith based but like the storylines are good. So yeah, great premiere. And then, you know, we're here now at the podcast, getting on into the latest. So let's get on into it now. Here's what's been going down lately, y'. All. There is a lot to talk about. So sadly in the news, Savannah Guthrie, who is a anchor on the Today show, her mom has been missing for some days now. So her mom went missing after going out to dinner over the weekend. Sunday, her mom did not show up for her like church service that she always goes to. So a family member got worried. They called police could not find her. Still have not located her today and is Wednesday. So it's been over 73 hours and there are some chilling details around her disappearance. Number one, police have not addressed this nor confirmed anything, but there is a video circulating with blood stains outside of her home, like on her front porch. There are reports that her pacemaker has stopped reporting to her Apple Watch. But I did just see a report on my way in where the sheriff's department just issued a statement saying that they do believe that Nancy Guthrie, who is Savannah Guthrie's mom, is still alive. Because when you hear pacemaker stop sinking, you instantly think, okay, maybe she's not alive. Another thing here is like Jenna Bush, who is another talk show anchor and is friends with Savannah, had mentioned on her show that Savannah's mom has daily medications that she takes that she needs in order to live. And if abducted like the, the, you know, police believe she was. She's not, she don't. She doesn't have her medicines with her. Um, now at this point, the FBI has gotten involved. I know. I saw that Trump offered to extend resources if needed. This is a full on investigation it's no longer just a missing persons investigation. This is now potentially an abduction. And at one point, there were homicide detectives involved. There was some reporting from Ashley Benefield that police have now come out and debunked. And what she was reporting was that Nancy was that Savannah Gunther's brother in law, who is the husband of her sister, was a prime suspect potentially in all of this because they were together the night before they went out to dinner. But police released a statement and said, look, we're talking to any and everybody that she would have been in contact with, especially within, you know, a certain time period. The reporting of any suspect at this time is completely not true. They had also talked about. She had also talked about a car being seized. And just the police are basically saying, look, we don't really have much that we can share right now, but we do believe that she's alive. So there's going to be a lot of updates there. I know. I saw that NBC had reportedly beefed up security for their talent and in their studios, not just with regular building security, but security, but also utilizing nypd. And the reason why they did this, you know, from. Based on reporting, is because everybody, like right now, everybody's just trying to figure out why this happened and what happened. There was a ransom note that was sent over to tmz, which is very odd. Let's take a listen to that.
B
So we got something in our email that looks like a. It's written like a ransom note for Savannah Guthrie's mother. Specific. And there's very certain amounts of money. Very specific. And also they say at the bottom, there are certain things they're saying about what she was wearing and damage to the house. They're clearly saying to verify it's us. We know what we're talking about here. So we are. We've contacted the sheriff's department and we want to get them this letter. We had a little trouble getting through to the right person, but the person we spoke with is now forwarding this to somebody in the detective.
A
And from what Harvey and Charles are saying, that ransom note mentions money within the millions in bitcoin. They do mention that that's the only way that you'll get Savannah Guthrie's mom back. So it kind of seems like it could be something that would have been targeted, um, because of who Savannah was possibly, or, you know, but also she lives in a very nice neighborhood in Arizona. There's so many possibilities of what could have happened. But this is an 84 year old woman who was taking out her home in the middle of the night. Pretty insane to me. Um, so again, details will be unfolding here because there's a lot of questions that still need to be answered. And as of right now, that's all we have. Now moving on. In other news, while we are in white people's business today day. Okay, in other news. So Bill Gates, all right. Has made it on into the latest because lately Bill Gates's name has been mentioned in Epstein conversations. So, you know, there was this huge mass amount of emails that were released from the Epstein files and a ton of things and people. And, you know, all of this stuff went down in the reporting of these files. Some stuff unverified we talked about. I did a story over the Grammy weekend where, you know, I pointed out that Jay Z, Pusha T and Eminem were also mentioned in this Epstein conversation. But the reports and what people were using to base their reporting on was an unverified document, so. And something that had never even been investigated by police. This is like, basically like if you were to write into a tip line to the FBI, but Bill Gates situation is different. Bill Gates. You know, there were these emails that were alleged to have been written by Epstein himself. They were never sent to Bill Gates, but they were supposed to be, but they were found in drafts. And these emails basically said that Bill Gates was having a couple of rendezvous that Epstein set up for him with other women. Now, it is a very known thing that Bill Gates was not faithful in his marriage to Melinda Gates. They are not together. They do share children, but they are not together. And what was alleged in these emails was that during these little rendezvous with these women, Bill Gates allegedly got an std. And he was asking Epstein to give him medicine for the. For the std. Allegedly. And that. And also said that he was going to somehow get Melinda Gates to take the medicine without knowing it so that he wouldn't have to say to her, I guess, that he had the sed. Allegedly. Now this is so messy, right? I. I love it when white people get messy. Okay, Think you got a big tech billionaire Epstein over here on this island. They just rich in having fits and getting STDs. Okay, that'll shake it up for Black History Month. But Bill Gates had to. They had to talk about this. So he sat down for an interview with an Australian outlet called nine News. And he addressed these allegations head on. Let's take a listen.
C
Apparently Jeffrey wrote an email to himself. That email was never sent. The email is, you know, false. So I don't know what his thinking was there. It just reminds me, you know, every minute I spent with him, I regret and I, you know, apologize that I did that. I met Jeffrey in 2011. The focus was always. He knew a lot of very rich people, and he was saying he could get them to give money to global health. You know, in retrospect, that was a dead end, and I was foolish to spend time with him. I was one of many people who regret ever knowing him. You know, it's factually true that I was only at dinners. You know, I never went to the island. I never met any women. And so, you know, the more that comes out, the more clear it'll be that although the time was a mistake, it had nothing to do with that kind of behavior.
A
He ain't copping nothing. Not ting. Not a thing. Not a thing, Not a thing. I mean, who would, right? I mean, he does make it clear, though, that they. You heard him. I mean, they were in contact, so there was a relationship there. But from what he says, he never received these emails, if even drafted by Epstein, and the extent of their relationship had nothing to do with these rendezvous that are rumored to have happened. Now, Melinda Gates was speaking to npr. She was on a podcast that NPR has called Wildcard. And she was also asked about Bill Gates name popping up in these Epstein conversations. Let's take a listen. I wonder what your dominant emotion is.
D
When you read these news articles. Just unbelievable sadness. Unbelievable sadness, right? And again, I'm able to take my own sadness and look at those young girls and say, my God, how did they. How did that happen to those girls? Right? And so for me, it's just sadness. Sadness for, you know, I've left. I had to. I left my marriage. I had to leave my marriage. I wanted to leave my marriage. I had to leave the. I felt I needed to eventually leave the foundation. So it's just sad. And it's kind of like, at least for me, I've been able to move on in life. And I hope there's some justice for those now women, right? We see them standing up in front of microphones in D.C. what they went through is just unimaginable.
A
But Linda Gates is out here just sprinkling all of her money across historically black colleges and universities. And Bill Gates is just. I was gonna say he's still in the news embarrassing her at the same time. But I mean, we. Again, all of this is alleged, so we don't know what is true and what is not. But if I was Melinda Gates, I know she's I mean, the way she responded, you could tell she's kind of in like a place of. I've already dealt with this man and all of these, you know, not specifically Epstein allegations, but the. The things that we are talking about when it comes to him and other women, I've already dealt with this. I'm at a peaceful place about it, and I'm not going to let it disturb my peace. But, baby, I would be hot and on fire. The last few headlines that you see of Melinda Gates are so positive and so for the community and all of a sudden, boom. STDs. We'll keep you guys posted. I don't even know what would develop here. Hopefully a cure, but we'll keep you guys posted. Now, as I close out the latest today, I want to make sure that I let you guys know that, yes, you can watch video episodes of the podcast. We do post clips over on my YouTube channel, Lauren LaRosa TV. And you guys have really been enjoying the interviews that I've been doing. So I do want to do more of those. And we' be doing more of those. So let me know. I want you guys to get in the streets and in the tweets. Talk to me. Who you want to see on the podcast. Who do you want to see me sit down and have conversations with? Let's do some more of that and let's close it out with Shaboozi. Bringing it on. Back to black. So you guys know Shabuzzi recently won a Grammy. He was actually the first black man to win a Grammy for best country duo slash group performance on the first day of Black History Month, February 1, the Grammys went down and he won that Grammy. Now let's take a listen to his Grammy acceptance speech because he has had to come out and apologize. Honey, he done made. He done pissed the community off. And when I say the community, I mean us. The cookout, the black people, the tabernacle. We are mad. I'm not mad. I really am just here to report. But y' all was mad. Let's take a listen to Jabuzi speech.
E
And again, the last thing I want to say, Immigrants built this country, literally, actually. So this is for them, for all children of immigrants. This is also for those who came to this country in search of better opportunity, to be a part of a nation that promised freedom for all and equal opportunities, opportunity to everyone willing to work for it. Thank you for bringing your culture, your music, your stories and your traditions here. You give America color. I love y' all so much. Thank you.
A
Now, can anyone tell me what was wrong about that speech? Can you guys guess what pissed the people off today? Yesterday, we spent the first week of Black History Month learning that Bill Gates is just out here. I don't know what he's out here doing, but it's just. It's more than computers. And now the rest of the time, y' all mad at Shabuzzi. The people were upset because of the line where he says that immigrants built this country. Black people in America are like, hold up. Wait. What for you. Hold on. It's Black History Month. You gonna say what? So I want to read you guys his apology. I want to express my deep gratitude to everyone who has supported and celebrated my journey as an artist. I also want to acknowledge the conversation surrounding my acceptance speech. Baby, they were not having a conversation with you. They were screaming. Screaming at you, Shaboozi. To be clear, I know and I believe that we black people have also built this country. My words were never intended to dismiss that truth. I am both a black man and the son of a Nigerian and the son of Nigerian immigrants. And in the overwhelming moment of winning my first Grammy, my focus was on honoring the sacrifices my parents made by coming to this country to give me and my siblings opportunities we never had. At the same time, winning this award on the first day of Black History Month and becoming the first black man to win Best Country Duo is black history. It stands on a foundation laid by generations of black people who fought, sacrificed, and succeeded long before me. This moment belongs to all of us. My entire career has been rooted in lifting people up, honoring where we come from, and expanding what's possible. I am proud to be a part of this legacy, and I intend to continue doing the work for the rest of my life. With love, Shaboozy. You be all right. Just go. Listen. Just go remix another good song. Okay. Do what you did with the chingy song again. The people, they've been forgot about it by. By the summertime. By the time it's time for us to Tamiya sly on into the summer, they've been forgot about it. You'll be fine. But it is a learning lesson, I think, for people to. Especially black people to understand that. Yeah, we. I mean, we have a whole month. It should be way longer than that to remind the people, hey, we did this thing over here. Please never forget. And they want to make sure that if you are one of us representing the culture on these big stages, you continue to remind people, too. I ain't mad at the people for it at all. But, Shaboozi, you will be fine. Trust me. Okay? We gonna slide on into your next song, and the people will be good. It's Lauren LaRosa. This has been another episode of the Latest with Lauren LaRosa. And I tell you guys every single episode, and I mean it, that y' all could be anywhere with anybody, talking about all of the things, but y' all choose to be right here with me, my low riders. I appreciate y' all so much for that, and I'll catch you guys in my next episode. This is an iHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human.
