Commemorating the January 6 Riots at the Special Committee

Yesterday saw the first session of the House Special Committee to investigate the January 6 riots and uprising. Four law enforcement officers testified before the committee, which consisted of Democrats along with two Republican rebels, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. To munch on it all, Benjamin Wittes sat down with Lawfare congressional teacher Molly Reynolds, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, and Quinta Jurecic, a fellow at the Brookings Institution. They talked about how the first trial went, what was said about where the committee was headed, gaps within the Republican party about how to handle this committee and whether the committee would have enough time and focus to achieve real accountability.
