Welcome to the Level up podcast. I'm your host, Paul Alex. I went from being a cop to an eight figure entrepreneur that helps average people like you and me make money every single day. I created this podcast to help you get motivated and to crush your goals. Let's win together. Remember, I have your six. Get ready to level up right now. What's up everyone? Welcome back to the Level up podcast. I'm Paul Alex and today we are talking about a compliment that actually destroys people's lives. Having massive, massive potential. Because let's be real. If everyone tells you how smart and talented you are, but you never actually build anything of value, your potential is completely worthless. Let's break down how to stop relying on talent and start executing. First, understand that potential is just unearned equity. Too many aspiring entrepreneurs get comfortable because they had a high grade point average or a natural gift for sales. That comfort is a trap. If you rely entirely on your natural gifts and refuse to develop absolute discipline, the market will replace you with someone less talented who works 10 times harder. Whether you are launching a service business or deploying physical infrastructure, raw talent only gets you to the starting line. If you do not put in the reps, you kill your own future. Second, you have to prove it every single day. People do not get paid millions of dollars because they have a high iq. They get paid millions of dollars because they solve massive, complex problems for the market. So instead of coasting on your reputation, put your head down and do the unglamorous work. Make your daily execution the only thing you take pride in. Lastly, applied discipline creates an undeniable legacy. When you take your raw potential and combine it with extreme relentless action, you become a completely unshakable force. High output, deep humility and a refusal to be outworked create a legendary founder. When you stop talking about what you could do, you finally start doing it. Bottom line, the graveyard is full of people who had massive potential. Get out of your own head, put your hands in the dirt and build something real. Because when you do, you will reach heights high, higher than ever. Thanks for tuning in to the Level up podcast. I'm Paul Alex reminding you effort always beats talent when talent refuses to work. Put in the hours, prove the concept, and as always, keep leveling up. Thanks for listening up to the level of podcast. The Level Up Podcast w/ Paul Alex | June 20, 2026
Host: Paul Alex Espinoza
In this episode, Paul Alex tackles the deceptively positive notion of “potential.” He makes a case that being called talented or full of potential can be destructive if it doesn't lead to action. Drawing on his own journey from overworked police detective to 8-figure entrepreneur, Paul delivers a no-nonsense lesson: talent and intelligence don’t matter unless you execute relentlessly. This episode is packed with direct advice for aspiring entrepreneurs and anyone tired of seeing their “potential” sit idle.
“Potential is just unearned equity. Too many aspiring entrepreneurs get comfortable because they had a high grade point average or a natural gift for sales. That comfort is a trap.”
“People do not get paid millions of dollars because they have a high IQ. They get paid millions of dollars because they solve massive, complex problems for the market.”
“When you take your raw potential and combine it with extreme relentless action, you become a completely unshakable force.”
“The graveyard is full of people who had massive potential. Get out of your own head, put your hands in the dirt and build something real.”
Discomfort as Motivation (00:58):
“If you rely entirely on your natural gifts and refuse to develop absolute discipline, the market will replace you with someone less talented who works 10 times harder.”
Effort Over Talent (03:21):
“Effort always beats talent when talent refuses to work. Put in the hours, prove the concept, and as always, keep leveling up.”
Paul’s final message is a battle cry against complacency and a call to action:
“Put in the hours, prove the concept, and as always, keep leveling up.” (03:21)
He reminds listeners to stop fantasizing about what they could do and start making moves — because real legacies are built by those who execute, not just those who dream.
Useful for listeners seeking direct motivation and actionable mindset shifts, this episode is a must-listen for anyone ready to transform potential into tangible results.
