Welcome to the Level up podcast with Paul Alex where we focus on leveling up your mindset, business and life. Today, we're gonna be talking about something very important. Why you shouldn't take advice from your friends. And trust me, this one can make or break your journey to success. Your friends might care about you, but that doesn't mean they know what's best for your business, your finances, or your life goals. Most friends. Most people make the mistake of asking their friends for advice simply because they're close or they trust them. But you have to ask yourself this one simple question. Are your friends where you want to be at? Are they running successful businesses? Do they have the mindset and results you're striving for? If they're not there, then why are you taking advice from them? One of the biggest reasons not to rely on friends for advice is lack of experience. Many friends mean well and that's okay. But if they haven't walked the path you're trying to take, they can't give you the roadmap. Their opinions might come from the place of comfort or fear rather than from experience in entrepreneurship, investing, or personal development. You need advice from people who have been there, done that, not from those who are guessing. Don't take chances in your business and in life. Another issue is bias. Your friends know you personally, and while that can be great for emotional support, it's not always helpful. Guys, when it comes to making tough business and financial decisions, they might give you advice that actually protects you from failure. But that same advice can keep you from taking bold risks that it's needed for success. Friends often want to keep you safe, and that's a beautiful thing. But success requires taking risks that can feel unsafe. So let me be real with you right now. Sometimes friends might project their insecurities and and limitations onto you. Maybe they haven't chased their own dreams, so they can't fully support chasing yours. This isn't because they don't care. It's because they can't see beyond their own limitations. Your friend's fears shouldn't become your limitations. You've got to think bigger than what they can see. So who should you ask advice from? Guys, this is a no brainer. Mentors. People who have achieved the success you're aiming for. When I transitioned from law enforcement to building multiple businesses, I didn't rely on the opinions of my friends, my coworkers, or even my family. I sought out mentors, people who are already millionaires, entrepreneurs, and experts in their fields. They gave me the advice based on real world experience, not theory or guesswork. The right mentor can shave years off your learning curve and help you avoid mistakes your friends wouldn't even see coming. Guys, at the end of the day, guys, it's about knowing where to get your guidance. Your friends might be great for support, but when it comes to advice that impacts your future, go to people who've actually already achieved what you're working for. Surround yourself with people who elevate you, not people who hold you back intentionally or unintentionally. So that's all I got for today's episode. Guys, stop relying on your friends for advice. Start seeking guidance from those who are where you want to be. And remember, your circle should inspire you, not limit you. Thanks for tuning into the Level up podcast. I'm Paul Alex.
