First up is Philippe Lagassé of Carleton University, one of Canada’s leading defence analysts, for a discussion about the political and economic realities facing the new government. They talk about the opportunity Mark Carney may have to make painful but necessary decisions on defence spending, and whether Canadians will remain willing to spend massively on national defence once Donald Trump is no longer dominating the headlines. They also discuss the role domestic industry will need to play in any serious Canadian rearmament effort — and whether the country is actually prepared to invest the money required to make that happen.
