I was about 19 years old. I had cysts on my ovaries. An overcomer of childhood trauma and all these things were happening to me physically that was bringing an alert. And so I ended up on my first detox cleanse and resetting my body. Learning how to reset my body at 19 years old. I think that changed the trajectory of my life which became the foundation by which I built the mark.

Rudy
Why do people get into burnout?
Wa Mei Boyu
People get into burnout, Rudy, because they don't take care of themselves. Self care is not at the forefront of building for most people. I mean, think about it. Most people are building and they are thinking about what they're building more than they're thinking about what's going on on the inside.
Rudy
What are some practical ways that everyone can avoid burnout, reduce stress and be healthier and more productive?
Wa Mei Boyu
Yes. So there are two words I want you to hold on to, and that is.
Rudy
It spans the globe like a super highest cold Internet Elvis friendship.

Rudy
Hello and welcome back to another episode of Legacy Makers. Joining me today is Wa Mei and she is an expert in helping people go from burnout to living their best life. Right. Especially if you're a high achiever listening entrepreneur like I'm sure you are. You get into points of your life where you're working, you're going, stuff's growing, but you just don't feel quite right. Maybe you've lost that passion. And we're going to explore that today. Welcome to the show.
Wa Mei Boyu
Thank you so much, Rudy.
Rudy
So excited to dive into that. Just a little about you. I know you have a brand and a movement called the Mark. Right. And you help people, you know, get out of burnout and turn that kind of life around when they're facing that. Do you mind just sharing kind of how you do that and what you do and how you got into it?
Wa Mei Boyu
Absolutely. I think that, you know, many of us out there, we build our brands and our businesses out of the overflow of our Lives. And so for me, it began with my personal journey. Um, I was about 19 years old. I had cysts on my ovaries. An overcomer of childhood trauma. And all these things were happening to me physically that was bringing an alert. And so I ended up on my first detox cleanse and resetting my body. Learning how to reset my body at 19 years old. I think that changed the trajectory of my life, which became the foundation by which I built the mark.
Rudy
And.
Wa Mei Boyu
And so my personal journey of resetting my body, learning how to go from burnout to breakthrough, learning how to now in the second half of my life, how to age properly, how to go into what it takes to build a brand, to build a business through the scope of wellness. And this is what I do for others. I work with those who are building their family legacy. I work with entrepreneurs who, who are building their brand. And my message to everybody who I work with is let's do it all from the inside out.
Rudy
What's the, you know, the mark, does it have an acronym? Does it stand for something? How do you summarize that?
Wa Mei Boyu
Yeah, so the mark comes From Scripture, Philippians 3:14. And it says, I press towards the mark of the high calling in Christ. And so that's the pure essence. It's the journey towards your spiritually, mentally, physically, highest self. And what does that take?
Rudy
Yeah, yeah, I love that. And let's talk a little about, you know, the burnout side. And, you know, I think as a lot, a lot of people listening, they're entrepreneurs, right? Or their executives or business owners, or they're maybe working a job and doing things on the side. Why do people get into burnout?
Wa Mei Boyu
People get in the burnout, Rudy, because they don't take care of themselves. Self care is not at the forefront of building for most people. I mean, think about it. Most people are building and they are thinking about what they're building more than they're thinking about what's going on on the inside. And so with that, they hit a wall. And that wall has to be addressed or you can build an entire empire and be completely broken. That's not what we want.
Rudy
Yeah, I hear it a lot with entrepreneurs. Like, I think I've always dodged burnout because I see it come in and I address stuff earlier. You know, I've been pretty good at that. So I've never really hit it. But I hear a lot of my friends, even they're like, yeah, I burn out. So I close a ring down. I took six months off and it's Very common, you know, it's very common in an entrepreneur space.
Wa Mei Boyu
It really is. And I think a lot of people are starting to realize with the food supply the way that is the food industry, what's happening with such an increase of parasite and pesticides. So you've got a few different elements, right. You've got the element of nutrition where the body is breaking down because the body's not nourished. Our people are on fast food, they're on the go. I've got to grab the 4 by 4 at McDonald's or whatever. They're not slowing down to think like we think about what we're doing because we're in that realm. We think, you know what? I think I want to just do a salad.
Rudy
Sure.
Wa Mei Boyu
So I'm not coming to this trip eating fast food. I had to prepare and I had to get my, myself, spiritually, mentally together to show up. And that's what a lot of people miss. They don't tend to themselves nutritionally. The other aspect is movement. Are you moving your body? Are you learning the synergy of physical movement as well as when it's time to rest, is it time to stretch or is it time to lift? Because there's such a thing as exerc exercise induce stress. So you gotta find that balance. So instead of being a fitness coach, I'm a movement coach. Because one day I may say, you know what, today we're going into our self care tools. Because if you go into this workout, you're going to break down. The other aspect is personal development. Why? Why are you doing this? What's your purpose? If you have a strong why behind it, you're going to learn the things you need to do to manifest it. You're going to, and then you're going to start to embody it. And so that's, you know, the realm of transformation that I think is so amazing. I'm addressing people who are high achievers and building, whether it's the legacy of their family or their brands, who are coming into the second half of life. So we have a platform called age with Grace. So these are people that. I'm 48 years old by the way too. I'll be 49 on May 10th. And I'm proud to say that I'm not going to experience menopause and all of these things in the way that many of my friends will. I look like I'm in my 20s, early 30s, because I'm dedicated to learning that and so I get to teach people.
Rudy
Yeah, yeah.
Wa Mei Boyu
Let me introduce you to farmers. Let me introduce you to a whole new world where you completely transform your life. And if you see the before and afters of my clients who tap in, who go from the stage of contemplation into really realizing I've got a real problem here and I've got to solve it, and then they start to apply the tools of the mark. It's just amazing.
Rudy
And let, so let me just break that down because I did want to ask you that. Just explain to everyone what you do, right? So someone comes to you, they're, you know, stuck or burnt out or whatever. How do you actually help them? Do you do calls with them? Do you train them? Do they fly in? Do you have a. Like, just so everyone knows, can you explain what you do?
Wa Mei Boyu
Everything is online. So we're currently working through an app called wap. Within the next month, our entire platform will be on the WAP platform. And that's important because what we've been doing is giving our tools out through email, in the website, things like that. So what a client does is the first step is to do that consultation. Let me get to know you, I'm your coach. I need to know who you are. You need to build that trust in me because I'm going to be giving you things to do, such as first assessing what's really going on. What are your pain points? Okay, we look at your pain points and then we begin to unlock the tools. So we've got what's called our E3 club and that's our empowerment club. I put people in there because it's not only giving them the tools, but giving them community. Knowing that, wow, I have others I'm doing this with. People become friends. It's so great. So we've got Mark Fit, which is the fitness portal that has everything a person needs to know about fitness. Things like learning form, learning how to move along the anatomical planes, learning breath control. They go through three phases, the form phase, the endurance phase and the build phase. So they're learning all the elements of fitness over a 90 day period. Just get the foundation right. The next element is beginning those cleansing and detoxing tools. So I partner with farmers who create cellular regenerative superfoods. So I get those people cleansed out. We gotta get those parasites out your gut, we gotta get those parasites, gotta get glyphosate out the gut. I start teaching them about processed foods, educating them so that they are aware that they this is what's causing your problem. Then they begin to invest into their superfood kit. They go through a detox. They're learning about nutrition. They're learning how to shop. Everything is in that portal, and that portal's called power juicers. So juicing, cleansing, detoxing. I teach them how to increase their protein. Let's get your protein up. Let's get those heavy carbs out. Let's separate the different macros. Sometimes that can mess up your digestion. But the beautiful thing about the mark is I don't have all the answers right. I'm not a nutritionist, I'm not a doctor. But we have naturopaths in the community. We have the superfood company that we partner with. So we have farmers we can are connected to, and we have other experts to facilitate their transformation.
Rudy
That's great. I love that. So that's a lot, you know, and that's a lot on the nutrition side. What about everyone listening? What are some simple ways? If they're busy, they're running a business, they're working hard, they're growing their business, they're dealing with all their family and stuff. What are some practical ways that everyone can avoid burnout, reduce stress, and be healthier and more productive?
Wa Mei Boyu
Yes. So there are two words I want you to hold on to, and that is rhythm and synergy. So rhythm is finding your flow. Is it 5am Are you a 5am person? Are you an afternoon person? Are you evening person? Do you need to readjust that? So we work through that, and what we're working through is your emotions.
Rudy
Well, that's interesting. I say on that a second because a lot of people are like, you got to be up early, or, you know, you shouldn't work late. But I also agree because I think you should find the best routine for you. Some people are more productive late at night. Some people love to get up early and work.
Wa Mei Boyu
Right.
Rudy
So do you believe that too? That people should tailor it to them.
Wa Mei Boyu
Or you tailor it to you? Tailor it to you. I'm not here to be your enforcer. I'm here to be your empowerment. Synergy is all about you finding the consistency. So we're getting you in the rhythm, and during that process, you're gonna fold a couple of times, you're gonna miss sessions. I mean, we are an online platform, so you can do it if you're in where I. In the area where I live, you can visit me in person. But many of my clients are global. I'm working with people all over the world. We're on Zoom, we're on FaceTime. You know, we're using all of the online tools. So the goal is to create consistency and synergy. And there's a process with that. You gotta learn how to communicate with me and me communicate with you. Every week we set goals. We set those goals. Our fitness app, for instance. If you've got your workouts, you've gotta check off those. Those workouts. Yep, you're done. Maybe it's three workouts instead of every single day. Cause you're not there yet. Graduate you into more. Right. And my job as a coach and our systems track a person's progress to see where they are.
Rudy
Good. So last couple of questions because I want to say, you know, I know the full episode really tells your story and all that side, but just, just for you to share a little. What was your story? Getting into this just to tease it before people maybe watch the full episode.
Wa Mei Boyu
Yeah. My story is I am an overcomer. I'm an overcomer. I'm the underdog. I'm the one you can probably find some tea on. If you dig deep enough, you'll find some things on me. But I'm an overcomer and I have great faith. And I come from a family that has imparted that faith in me. My father, my grandmother was a black native woman from the south who always wanted to go to Africa. So she went to Liberia and, and she started the company's first. The country's first garbage company. And so I'm birthed out of that woman. She raised me and I'm just now realizing that she, she set this whole thing up for me.
Rudy
Right.
Wa Mei Boyu
So here I am today from that family. I'm also an overcomer of childhood sexual trauma. So for those of you out there, I understand the psychological effects. It affected me deeply. When I was about 19 years old, I had a breakdown. I broke down, was suicidal. And right after that, I also was diagnosed with a ovarian cyst. And so shout out to my son's father, who introduced me to holistic health. He got me connected with the naturopath. And that man looked me dead in the eye. And I was a petite little thing. I was smaller than I am now, right? And he said to me, he was like, listen, little girl, if you don't change your diet, you're gonna fold. By the time you're my age now, you're gonna have cancer. Something's gonna happen to you. And I was scared. So I went on my first 30 day juice cleanse and the cyst dissolved within a week. Didn't have to have surgery. So that was the beginning of my journey. That was when I began to realize, wow, this nutrition thing is real. This health thing is a reality that I must face in order to live at bare minimum.
Rudy
Good. Love that last couple of questions. Legacy, what does it mean to you?
Wa Mei Boyu
Oh, wow. Legacy is the imprint of your life, the imprint that you leave behind of your life. It can touch your family, your children. It's hearing your calling. It's hearing your high calling. You know, like what is your higher calling? And it's going the route of building that and it's knowing your why.
Rudy
Last question. Someone wants to check out everything you're doing, maybe join the community and maybe they are struggling with burnout or health or productivity and they think maybe you have the answers. Yeah. Where do they find you?
Wa Mei Boyu
You can go to www.themarktotalbody.com, take an assessment. I'm going to review that assessment and our team is going to schedule a consultation with you and we're going to help you get in the right direction into your breakthrough.
Rudy
Love that. Well, guys, that's a wrap. Obviously, great episode there on how to holistically look after yourself as an entrepreneur or a high performer. And of course, go check out the full story and all the amazing stuff that you can probably learn and take away in the full episode. And as always, keep working hard, have an impact and build a legacy. I'll see you guys soon.
