I have a pretty big real estate business, but I also recently purchased a ranch called Henning Ranch. And I'm going to be launching my podcast series, but also my courses to help anybody really understand that you can build a business and kind of your dreams through.
Narrator
Lindsay Kate is an entrepreneur, real estate broker, and the owner of Lindsey Kate collective, Kate Co. Real Estate, and Henning Ranch. She helps individuals and businesses create lives they love by building thriving communities, creating meaningful opportunities, and empowering others through real estate entrepreneurship and authentic connection.
Lindsay Kate
Entrepreneurship is so hard and so scary. I was getting burned out and I was burnt out, and my energy and focus was focusing on the wrong thing. So when I was able to bring that back and realizing that, oh, my gosh, I could really help anybody that just was really looking to regain that passion for something. You can build a business and kind of your dreams through building really good connections and just having really good energy. Because if you're not bringing the energy and you're not bringing the passion and you're not open to connecting with people and all of that, then I don't know what you're doing.
Jay Slangan
It spans the globe like a super high.

Jay Slangan
Welcome to another episode of Living your Legacy podcast. I'm your host, Jay Slangan. Thank you for coming back and tuning in. We got a special guest today that came from the hills of Wisconsin all the way to South Beach. Dealing with the humidity, but dealing with all the preparations for the World cup, it's exciting times. But, Lindsay, welcome to the show. And can you just, you know, introduce yourself? Tell us, tell us what's good.
Lindsay Kate
Yeah. Well, my name is Lindsay Kate. I'm from Wisconsin. I sell real estate. So I have a pretty big real estate business, but I also recently purchased a ranch called Henning Ranch.
Podcast Announcer
All right.
Lindsay Kate
And I'm going to be launching my podcast series, but also my courses to help anybody really understand that you can build a business and kind of your dreams through building really good connections.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
And just having really good energy. So those two things can kind of go hand in hand in building your own personal brand and being able to do anything you want to do.
Jay Slangan
Yeah. So being in real estate, having just recently Purchased this ranch. Is this, like, you look at a lot of properties and everything, right?
Lindsay Kate
Yeah.
Jay Slangan
So then when you saw this ranch, is this, like, the spot for you?
Lindsay Kate
Yes.
Jay Slangan
Finally you found it.
Lindsay Kate
Yes. So over the years, like, I own my own real estate company. I sold it a couple of years ago, and I felt like everything I was doing, like, I didn't have my sole purpose. Like, I was pretty good because I built my own brand. So I felt like everything I kind of tried, I was pretty good at. Right. So I was like, okay, well, I got this, and I got that. When the ranch came around, I never thought that I would own my own horse boarding ranch. Like, I just didn't think it was gonna happen.
Jay Slangan
Did you dream about it when you were a little girl? Your little princess riding the ponies at her birthday?
Lindsay Kate
Well, I never had the opportunity to ride horses growing up, but my daughter. I'm a single mother. My daughter's 16 now. I've only had her. I've had her my whole life.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
She's been with me since the days I was making $10 an hour, living paycheck to paycheck to. Now, you know, we own a horse ranch, and she. Barrel races, you know, almost professionally.
Jay Slangan
Yeah. Barrel races.
Lindsay Kate
She's a barrel racer.
Jay Slangan
Explain that to me.
Podcast Announcer
I don't.
Jay Slangan
I don't know anything about. I know the Kentucky Derby.
Podcast Announcer
Right.
Jay Slangan
I also know the. The Melbourne Cup I've been to in Australia. And there was also one woman that we met at one of the clinics here, and it was so surprising because she was doing, you know, like, how people just surprise you. Right. And then she's like a acrobat. She did acrobatic horse racing right at, like, a international level, Right. Where she was, you know, like, doing handstands on the back of the horse and stuff like that.
Lindsay Kate
So.
Jay Slangan
But I don't think that's barrel racing. So tell me, what about barrel racing?
Lindsay Kate
So barrel racing is when the rider and their horse, they go around three different barrels.
Jay Slangan
Okay.
Lindsay Kate
And they try to go as fast as they can.
Jay Slangan
Like barrels.
Lindsay Kate
Like actual barrels?
Jay Slangan
Like.
Lindsay Kate
Like barrels.
Jay Slangan
Okay. So it's almost like they set up a barrel in the. Like, as an obstacle course or, like.
Lindsay Kate
As an obstacle course.
Jay Slangan
So they do like. Like what? Like eights around the barrels in a triangle or something?
Lindsay Kate
Yep. So there's three barrels. So they take off to the first barrel, either the left or right. They go around it, and then they go to the next barrel and then out. So you want to do it as fast as you can.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
And she, this is her first year really doing it. Doing it. She'd been doing it for a couple years, but not actually really.
Podcast Announcer
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
And actually the horse, we got a new horse which actually was the owner's horse of the ranch that we are purchasing.
Jay Slangan
Okay.
Lindsay Kate
So it's a kind of cool story. His daughter passed away tragically in December.
Jay Slangan
Not that cool.
Lindsay Kate
Yeah.
Jay Slangan
Tragic story.
Lindsay Kate
Tragic story.
Jay Slangan
It goes into cool.
Lindsay Kate
It goes into cool. Yeah. So, you know, when it all happened, it was. We didn't know that was going to happen. Yeah. I had offered to help him with the business side because last, well, the last couple years we'd been there, he wasn't charging enough to survive and to build, build the ranch and to upgrade the ranch. And he just wanted everybody to be around horses and so do I. But there's to a point where you can't pay for everybody to have horses. So that same week he actually, the week before she passed, he had finally taken my, you know, was going to be like, hey, can you help me with the businesses? Handed me his taxes and I said, absolutely. You know, days later his daughter had passed.
Jay Slangan
Oh man.
Lindsay Kate
So it was like awful.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
But then he offered the ranch to me and I said, well, I'm only doing it if you stay so, so I can help business side.
Jay Slangan
But so out of the darkness came the light, you know, and you were able to help him out, Bring some, some girl energy also, you know, which you probably loved to keep that energy, you know, it's important.
Podcast Announcer
So.
Jay Slangan
Wow, that's great. And then what color is, is this horse? What's the name, color breed horse?
Lindsay Kate
His name is Cash.
Jay Slangan
Cash.
Lindsay Kate
And he bought Cash when he was just a baby. And Cash's nine and he, Jim is the owner. He never even knew how to ride. So my daughter, last year everybody that tried to ride him would buck him off. And last year my daughter's like, well, I think I want to try riding him. And it's magic.
Jay Slangan
That's like the movies.
Lindsay Kate
Yeah, yeah. Like he is literally competing already against, you know, two 2d1t d horses, which is like the fastest you can go within a couple races. All right, so it's like really, really amazing.
Jay Slangan
Is this like a live in ranch also? Like there's a house there and everything?
Lindsay Kate
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So there's a house there and then we're going to build in the future a newer home and a community center because the go to really bring the community back into the facility because it's over 13 acres on one of the highest points in Wisconsin, Hornville, Wisconsin. And there's so much that we can do there with healing and retreats and growth and all that kind of fun stuff. So that's a big focus of ours in the future.
Jay Slangan
Retreats are a big business now, you know.
Lindsay Kate
Yeah.
Jay Slangan
People are trying to get away from this modern day crazy society. Scrolling.
Lindsay Kate
Yeah.
Jay Slangan
All the doom scrolling. And you just want to kind of go to a retreat, tune off, tune out, but also learn, you know, heal. Yeah. Have a community and do new things.
Lindsay Kate
I mean, that's 100% why we're there. So my daughter, she started racing 10 years ago because she, she's was. I'm her only parent.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
And you know, growing up, it's very hard when you don't have a father and you just in general, like, she was always very mature and, you know, didn't. She just doesn't get into the drama. She doesn't get into all that kind of school stuff. So horses really saved our lives. And watching her ride over the years and then finally just, you know, with me and all my businesses, I was burnt out and going to the ranch and now doing what we're doing, it's like another world. It's like, wow, I didn't realize this could be a world. And it's so peaceful, like turning off your phone and just being away from the Internet and being away from all the chaos.
Jay Slangan
Sign me up. Sign me up.
Lindsay Kate
I want to share with people.
Jay Slangan
Yeah, yeah. So, and then, I mean, so like you're moving into this, this new house and everything and you're talking about your real estate. You kind of wanted to offer it on a, on a global sale off on online, right?
Lindsay Kate
Yep.
Jay Slangan
So are you. And you also talked about podcasting. Are you building like a little studio and everything there?
Lindsay Kate
Yes.
Jay Slangan
Yeah, yeah. Get some inspiration from here.
Lindsay Kate
Absolutely.
Podcast Announcer
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
This is fabulous.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
And you could go with no. Um, but yeah, so we already have space for the podcast and we've got, you know, everything kind of set up for there and we're. It used to be was going to do the podcast for my, my office building.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
But when the ranch came up, I was like, oh, my gosh, this is exactly, you know, podcasting from the ranch. I know, you know, reaching from the ranch, whatever that looks like. So I was like, this is going to be really great and it's going to be a great space and it's going to be a great place for to come and unwind and to just kind of talk about everything.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
So we have that kind of already set Up. We've got our channel kind of, you know, going already. So, you know, we have Lindsay Kate live, which is going to be under the Lindsay Kate Collective website. So we'll have everything branching off of that.
Jay Slangan
And what's the. What's the website URL for that?
Lindsay Kate
Yep. So it's Lindsay Kate collective dot com.
Jay Slangan
Okay. Any dashes or just Lindsay Kate Collective?
Lindsay Kate
Just Lindsay Kate Collective. It's really easy. For some reason, they do it wrong and they spell just Lindsay Kate. That'll also get you there. So we have both of those domains just in case. But yeah. And on the podcast, it's gonna be talking a lot about how to teach people to be able to build a business or be able to build a life that they really want. And it's not through knowing better, doing better. It's how to create really good connections, how to bring your energy to the table of what you wanna do.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
Because if you're not bringing the energy and you're not bringing the passion and you're not open to connecting with people and all of that, then I don't know what you're doing. Right.
Jay Slangan
Cause, well, you got a lot of energy here. I could already feel it, you know. So, yeah. Bring the positive energy right to your business. It's important that you know when you're passionate about something, when you're giving it so much time. Right. You can't let it drain you. So you got to find that energy, that space where you can just focus on your business and, you know, I guess have it energize you and not drain you.
Lindsay Kate
Yeah. Well, and I think, you know, because I don't know if you've had many, many careers before, but I feel like event quite a few where when I started losing the energy, that's when the passion was gone.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
So I was like, oh, shoot.
Jay Slangan
I was getting.
Lindsay Kate
I was getting burned out and I was burnt out, you know, and then I was like, I sold my real estate company. Thinking sometimes you go to like the way deeps where we're like, I don't even wanna do real estate anymore. But then when I got to the point, I was like, no, but I love real estate.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
I just was burnt out and my energy and focus was focusing on the wrong thing.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
So when I was able to bring that back and realizing that, oh my gosh, I could really help with coaching other real estate agents, other business people in general, anybody that just is really looking to regain that passion for something.
Jay Slangan
Well, a lot of people are, especially in today's Day and age. Because with the advent of all the AI craziness and all of the kind of middle class jobs and the knowledge based jobs, getting acts from AI. Right. A lot of people getting fired. Unfortunately, people are looking to entrepreneurship. Right. And it's going to be really important for someone to say, you know, hopefully they look at it more like an opportunity and they're in a position where they can, you know, make that transition. Okay. If they get fired. Right. Prepare now, people, you know, so you can put yourself in that position.
Lindsay Kate
Yeah.
Jay Slangan
But yeah, you know, being able to teach people about entrepreneurship, about what it takes. Right. Because it's, it's coming, you know, and I think that'll be the best way where they can handle a lot of things that are, that are on the horizon.
Lindsay Kate
Absolutely.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
And it's. Entrepreneurship is so hard and so scary.
Jay Slangan
Yes.
Lindsay Kate
And it's very risky.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
And people like to feel comfortable. Yeah.
Jay Slangan
But in the end, it's almost like, you know, bungee jumping. Right. Where it's scary, but you got to take that leap by yourself. You know, like, I can walk you and I can connect you and I can teach you what to do and everything, but in the end, taking that leap, that's on you.
Lindsay Kate
Right, Exactly.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
And if I can help people get to that, that's exactly what I want to do.
Podcast Announcer
All right.
Jay Slangan
Well, you have a lot of exciting things going on. Yeah. And yeah. So also with this, you know, moving things to online, how's that transition been with everything?
Lindsay Kate
Yeah, well, I'm used to being in an office and teaching people one on one, and that's just not the days that we're in anymore. What's cool about it is that I can actually help more people.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
So transitioning to the online, not gonna lie, it has not been easy.
Jay Slangan
Yeah.
Podcast Announcer
Yeah.
Lindsay Kate
You know, you're trying to figure out where do I put my platforms and where do I do all this? Do I do it on social media? Do it on YouTube? Do I.
Jay Slangan
The endless checklist.
Lindsay Kate
It is the endless checklist of. And then you get put into this. Like it's overwhelming. Right. Or I just need to start doing it somewhere.
Jay Slangan
Absolutely, yes. You just need to start, you know, and then, and then you'll get to know what's important. Then you get to know, okay, I can focus on this and that. Or like you said, this is draining my energy, this is energizing me. So, you know, just focus on that also.
Lindsay Kate
Right, yeah, no, that's absolutely true.
Jay Slangan
So, well, we're going to get all into it in her episode. Looking forward to it. But, yeah, if you're interested in real estate, horse ranches, you know, helping with entrepreneurial kind of mindset and moving to an online business from real estate angle, then tune in to Lindsey's episode. I'd just like to ask, what are you most excited about right now? I mean, I know you're excited about last time you got the horses, you got this transition and everything, but in life or business, what are you most
Lindsay Kate
excited about right now? I'm most excited about finally being able to help people understand and see that through my faith that I've been able to connect so much with people and that it's about the connections and the energy that you bring. And if I can help just even one person more, that's what I'm excited about, is to be able to finally do this on a bigger scale through my workshops and my courses.
Jay Slangan
Let me ask you this, right? Because energy is, I don't know, like, I'm an extrovert, right? And there's. There's introverts who energize kind of like in their own personal space. Right? And then there's extroverts that just seem to, like, energize with. With everyone. Right?
Lindsay Kate
Yeah.
Jay Slangan
Have you kind of dealt with introvert, extrovert energy?
Lindsay Kate
Absolutely, yeah. And you know what's weird is that I'm an extrovert, too, but I'm also an introvert because I feel like when you're an extrovert, that you are just, as, I want to say, just as high and energized as you are, but you also go just as deep south when you're not. And I think that over the last couple years, just going through the burnout and having this thing that happened, I almost felt like I then understood, like, oh, my gosh, my energy is a lot for people. So I can kind of feel when I'm talking to people that this is too much. I'm actually just going to ask one thing, and then I'm just going to listen. So I feel that over the years, it took time, but that that energy is a way to hone into, because that is really important too, is if you want to connect with certain people, you can't always be on your energy level. You got to also. You have to be like a chameleon.
Jay Slangan
Yeah. There's so many different personality types. You know, the whole, like, Myers Briggs personality types. You know, when. When you get older, you kind of geek out into this stuff. You know, when you. When you're younger you know, they didn't teach you any of this. Introverts, extroverts, you know, just people's personality types. And then you're like, oh, wait a minute. And then. And then your. Your wife gets you into. Hey, there's love Languages, too, right?
Lindsay Kate
The books. So many books that I haven't finished all of them.
Jay Slangan
I know, I know, but, yeah, I mean, just knowing this kind of stuff, you get to know people's energy levels as well and work with the kind of person that they are, you know?
Lindsay Kate
Yeah.
Jay Slangan
But, yeah. All right, there we go. And we know where to find you. We know what you're excited about, but, yeah, we can't wait to hop into this episode. And tonight you'll be discovering more of Miami beach and this World cup fever we got going. The town's alive right now. It seems really exciting.
Lindsay Kate
It sounds awesome.
Jay Slangan
All right, well, thank you for joining us again on the Living youg Legacy podcast. And we can't wait till the next episode.
