A
Excited about everything going on, but I'm also excited about this inaugural the All McShay show team. Did I say that right? I think so. McShay show team.
B
We'll figure it out.
A
We'll figure it out. But I, I love doing it now because we're wrapping up the college football season, but I also want to revisit it in early April and see because, like, that's my guy. That change is, you know, not, it won't be everywhere, but at most of these positions, my guess is maybe that's my guy will be different or we'll have another that's my guy, you know, because you just, you fall in love with players when you sit here four or five hours a clip, watching a single player and every single snap that they had and doing the cutups and the breakdowns and all that stuff. So it will change as the process goes. But as the college football season ends, we're here to present to you the inaugural the All McShay show team. Here's how it works. We got, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna try to make it a consensus and where we, we don't have consensus, we'll have a second team all McShay show player. Right? There's not a ton of rules to this and I'm sure we'll refine like the College Football Playoff if you make a mistake. It's not beautiful the first year. You want different seating or maybe we shouldn't have two group of five teams in it. And we'll make some adjustments here too. I'M sure. But this year we're going to go through quarterback, running back, two wide receivers, tight end, an offensive tackle, an interior offensive lineman. Then we're going to stop down and do our red star player. I'll explain that to you in a little bit. Then on the defensive side, we'll give you an edge. Interior defensive lineman, a linebacker, a cornerback and a safety. Okay? Those are the positions we'll go through. Either I'll start or mention will start, offer up a player, the other person will follow and we'll try to come to a consensus, create, build a team. And you'll have some, some second team players as well because we're passionate about a lot of these players, all of these players that we're talking about. All right, let's start with quarterback mensch and I'm going to start with you. I'll let you kick it off. I feel like I've been start anytime we've been doing a draft or anything like this recently, I've gotten the first pick. So you get to, you get to choose. Pitch to me who and oh, the most important thing I left out.
B
Yes.
A
It's not. Listen to me clearly. Stop down, put the kitchen knife down, pull over on the side of the road, pause the TV in the background, whatever you got to do, whether you're watching on YouTube, Spotify, listening on Apple, wherever you get your podcast. And we appreciate all of you who are especially around this, this Christmas and Hanukkah and holiday season. Listen to me clearly when I say this, the most important part because I, I don't want you can at McShay 13 and at you good mensch mu e n c H But don't add us with this because I'm warning you now, it's not necessarily the top prospect at each position. It's our favorite. Now sometimes that will align. And what does favorite mean? Favorite is like I just love this guy. He might be a second rounder but like I feel great about where he's going to go. He might be the third offensive tackle but I just believe in him and like I got a special connection with him. So these will be the favorite players and the beauty of this exercise is we'll probably get to 30, 40, 50 players and it's an opportunity for us to discuss a whole bunch of guys and share our initial thoughts before we get in the pre draft process. All right, a lot of disclaimers there. Quarterback match.
B
I needed that though.
A
I was starting to get nervous before.
B
You said it because I, I'm going To come right out of the gate. It's kind of a thin quarterback class and I. I love the top two. I really do. But for your consideration, and he may be in the transfer portal. He's feeling it out. He may go out.
A
Who are the top two? Just. Just preface who. When you.
B
Fernando Mendoza from Indiana, Dante Moore from Oregon. Those are my top two. I would assume you agree, but maybe you don't. For your consideration, Cincinnati Bearcat Brendan Sorsby, 63235. Rush for 580 yards and nine touchdowns this year. Stumbled against Arizona and in Utah. I get it. He didn't have those great. His best games. Recovered well in the last two. Even they. Even though they lost their last four. I get it. He's got a live arm. I like his ability to extend plays. He's a tough, physical runner. You look at his touchdown interception ratio this year was 27 to 5. I kind of hope he goes back, but if he comes out, I think he's going to be a very intriguing prospect for teams. Brennan Swsby. Love watching him play.
A
Interesting way to come out of the gate.
B
Yeah.
A
Cooking.
B
I could play it safe, right? We could play it safe, but we're not here for that. It's guys we love.
A
I think I'm going to surprise you here. Okay. Mendoza is, as it stands right now, the most likely quarterback of the top guys we're talking about to be in this class because Dante Moore, the Buzz. It wasn't Buzz. The fact of the matter was he was going back to school in the middle of the season. When I talked to NFL scouts, it wasn't like, oh, I think or I'm hearing it was no time like, he's going back to school, Talk to mom, talk to dad, talk to agent, talk to coaches, talk to Dante. He's going back to school. But then his play after skyrocketing in the beginning of the year and then kind of dipping a little bit and then back up. What coincided with that, with the re. Ascension, if you will, is the fact that Will Stein's leaving for the NFL. So starting to believe that Dante Moore will be in this class. More if I'd say 60, 40. Dante Moore, after the College Football Playoff winds up being in the 2026 draft class, which is. I had it at like 1% 99. He wasn't in late October. I say all this because we don't know about Ty Simpson in this class. I would say strongly those will be the top three quarterbacks drafted. If those are the. The three names that actually enter early probably all three ahead of Ssby who I, I do think would be, you know, let's, let's see how that plays out.
B
Yeah, we'll see how that plays out.
A
I love Ty Simpson. You know, my love for Ty Simpson, the ascension early in the year and the level of play in which he was playing. He was clearly playing the highest level of quarterback in all of college football. Not just in this year's draft class, higher than Julian Sayan who had better numbers. He just was playing the position. But then defense has figured some of the stuff out in terms of the protections and how to get to him. Run game like honestly went from bad to worse. And the. And your star wide receiver gets the yips in Ryan Williams or whatever you want to call it. And so all of a sudden what he was putting out there in tape wise wasn't the same. The shine came off a little bit for me with Ty Simpson in the last four or five weeks of the season and now it's start. Well, I'm kind of getting that shine back on there. I love Ty Simpson. But if I had to say my favorite, and I'll define it by this, the guy who I think has the best upside of all these quarterbacks we're talking about higher than even Mendoza is Dante Moore.
B
I agree. I'm glad you're going this direction. I love it. This is going to be an easy first one.
A
I just believe in Dante Moore and his development. I believe in his maturity. I believe in his pocket passing. I believe in his ability to extend. There's elements of his game that have to improve. He will, he will be better set up for success if he plays another season in college. I don't know how that's track, you know, if that's tracking towards that as I just talked about. Maybe not. But I will say this. If. If someone were to call me tomorrow and say, hey, walk away from the McShay Show. Come be the general manager. Money. Here's the money. Here's the setup. Here's the guarantees of five, six years, all of that. And I had to do it. And I would bring you as my top lieutenant bench, which is actually true. I would. And it's actually not that far off of reality, which is scary. I would, I've had some weird calls recently. I would. College and NFL and if that team needed a quarterback, okay. I would recognize Mendoza and where he is and what he can be and say it's really good and I don't have a problem with him. I would bet my first Major decision on Dante Moore. That crazy?
B
It's not that crazy, and I'll tell you why. And tell me if this is crazy. When I see Dante Moore play, I'd like to see. I want to know what he weighs. I think he's a little lean. I'm not like, we're just talking about, I'm not nitpicking here. I'm not trying to be like, this is a major deal, but if he was a little thicker. You know who he kind of reminds me of is Justin Herbert and Drake May. I see those things. I see that taller quarterback who moves really well for a guy who's that tall. I see the ability to throw down field. Field. I see him getting on absolute runs like Herbert and May, by the way. I think there are times where he's not quite as accurate. Like, he just sometimes the accuracy is a little inconsistent. He reminds me of those two guys. And if you're talking about those two players, you're talking about those two quarterbacks. I mean, I think that says a lot about who, what I think of him as a prospect. Is that, is that nuts?
A
No, I don't think it's nuts. I mean, I, I, I don't see quite the energy on the ball as, as Herbert, but I see a lot of energy. So, you know, there's nitpicking, especially with the quarterback comparisons. They're all right, of course, because things are so obvious when you study all the tape. It's like, well, this arm is at a, at A, at a 1 and this one's at a 1.5. Or, you know, when our scale.
B
Right.
A
One being elite and five being marginal. But yeah, I just, I think if he, if he keeps developing at this rate, I think he, he's got something different. I agree, guys.
B
So he's our top.
A
And then, so let's go. Let's go. Dante Moore and then, and then source be in terms of favorites, he's got to me. I like having him on the list because everyone knows Mendoza. Everyone's waiting on Ty Simpson's decision. I like having a little wild card there. Whatever we're called. Second team. Honorable, Honorable mention. Just like something to keep an eye on. I like having Soares be in there because he is a wild card in this class right now because he said it. Exploring the NFL draft. Also not coming back to Cincinnati. If I do come back to college, going somewhere else. Fascinating. Running back. This is where it's interesting.
B
Okay.
A
And I have to start here. Let's start the spitballing phase. Okay. Does it look. Let's just be transparent. Does it look stupid if. If we come out with an all. All McShay, the All McShay show team, and Jeremiah Love is not on there? It probably does.
B
It's tough because we love him, too. It's not like we're just like, oh, he's the best player there. I love the way he runs.
A
Let's do this. Let's. I'll talk about a player and you can talk about a different running back, and then we can make a decision at the end. The guy I'm intrigued by, Mensch, is the guy who's had the worst season. If you look at anyone's top 10 running backs list, the guy who's had the most, not worst, but maybe statistically, the interesting. The. The. The. The most disappointing season based off of previous years and expectations and everything else has been Nicholas Singleton.
B
Yes. 100% talent for days.
A
But I don't think we should write them off. You know, it won't surprise me. I know, I know. But, like, everything was wrong in Happy Valley this year, from the athletic director and the mess that he's made of that whole program, to the head coach that was fired, to the quarterback who regressed was never as great as everyone thought to begin with and wound up injured. And I know I'm throwing a lot of stones in the glass house right now, but I'm just like, everything was a mess, the losses, like, all of it. But how many times have we learned our lesson that, like, when things are bad, as in their last year in college, it does. Like Derek Stingley.
B
Yeah.
A
You know, I keep watching pick six. Pick six yesterday. Again, like, does this guy like ball? How did he just quit on LSU his last year? You know, like, talent always seems to prevail. And it won't shock me if we're here next year, right. As we've. We've watched a season where Ashton Genti and I know he had the long touchdown catch yesterday and he's had some brilliant moments, and I know he's running behind a bad offensive line. And on, you know, on Christmas Day, we'll. We'll get to some of the rookies and where they would be redrafted. But my point is, for all the love for Jeremiah Love, and I think he's going to be a phenomenal pro, the grades we're both going to wind up giving him are up there with the top. Some of the top guys, 100%. It won't shock me if we're sitting here next year getting ready for our redraft and you're. You're dusting off the Santa suit and, and we're saying, oh man, we should. Maybe we should have just gone off the previous year's tapes and maybe we knew the talent. And he's six, six six three. So six foot and three. Eight of an inch was his verified height. 218 pounds. Verified weight by. By scouts in the off season. Runs a four. Four catches the ball beautifully. He's had 102 catches throughout his. His career. Even this year, when he hasn't had the production, just 549 rushing yards, he still had 13 rushing touchdowns on 123 carries. He still had 24 catches. I don't know. Singleton's a guy I'm not ready to write off, I guess is the best way I can put it.
B
I hear you. I don't know if he was the guy that I see the talent. And I agree with everything you're saying. I don't know if he's one of my favorite guys right now. I actually think K. Tron Allen's more of a favorite for me.
A
Yeah.
B
A guy that I really want and I. I think 100 needs to be on this list. And it's a little tricky because you missed five games this year and he. I think that the school that he's at is going to do everything in their power to bring him back. So we'll see what happens. In terms of him coming out Michigan running back Justice Haynes, I mean, dude, 122.4 rushing yards per game when he's on the field, he went for 19 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown against Oklahoma. That Oklahoma run defense this year was ridiculous. I love the way he runs the ball. Does he have to get better in the passing game and kind of flesh out his game a little bit? 100% he does. But when you're looking at the power, the, the burst, the patience, again, this is an Alabama transfer. I don't know how they. I've said this before. I don't know how they let him out of the building. I love Justice Haynes. And again, an interesting year because he missed five games, but when he was on the field, he was awesome. And I love the way he ran and all the long runs, all the power. Like he's just. I mean, he's just a dude. When the time comes, I think he's going to be an excellent NFL running back.
A
I don't disagree. I don't. Yeah, I don't disagree. I. Why don't we do this for the sake of. Of. Of like not creating conflict and. And issue. We. I mean, the answer is, who's your favorite back of this class? Jeremiah Love.
B
Jeremiah Love. Yeah.
A
So let's. But I'm glad we got to talk about two other backs that are going to get drafted and whether that's second round, third round, you know, early fourth, like Cam Scatter Boo was. And a lot of great backs have been in the last couple years. Let's go with Jeremiah Love as the. As the top guy. Okay. And I'm sure Tucker will put. Tucker will put together a graphic for us at the end of the show, be able to reveal it. Maybe we can break it up into offense and defense however we want to do it. Tuck, you're the boss. As I've learned. I think we go more one, and Sorsby is the. Is that number two? Is that. Keep an eye on guy for quarterback. I think we go Jeremiah Love. And let's just do a. Let's do a slash. It's our list.
B
Okay.
A
Let's do. Let's go with Haynes, slash Singleton. Two guys. Like, just keep, like, keep an eye on these guys. Okay.
B
Okay.
A
Not be the first back taken, but let's keep an eye on both these guys. All right, wide receivers. Interesting. We got two wide receivers. Let's talk about. How about you go with your top guy, I'll follow up with that. Then we. We've each come up with two. So. And then. And then you go. And then I go. And then let's create our list of four. It'll be. It'll be two for the first team and then two other guys that we want on the list. Okay.
B
I. I will. I'm gonna die on this hill, man. Denzel Boston from Washington. I was 6, 4, 2, 10. Do you know how many. You know what his percentage on contested catches this year? According to Pro Steve? 76.9%. McShay.
A
It's not 50.
B
50 balls for Denzel Boston.
A
That's like Stefan Diggs, dude.
B
He's coming down with it. And I. And the thing I love about him for his frame, and I'm going to hear about, oh, he's not the most.
A
Explosive or he's whatever.
B
He's a. He could separate, man. He is a crafty route runner who can sink his hips and get in and out of breaks. I just.
A
I don't.
B
I think. I don't know, maybe it's. It surprised me because he's playing. It's not like he's playing at some G5 school, he's playing at Washington and somehow maybe it's just this west coast thing. I feel like he's being overlooked right now. I have him as my third best receiver on my board. I love watching this kid play.
A
I, I was counting on you to have Boston on the list because I, I actually, I, I don't know that we will agree exactly on the rankings, but I think when you get to wide receiver four in this class, which is possibly probably a first rounder, definitely a first rounder as well. I think when we get to late April, we're going to be like, it's going to be Boston and you better prove somebody else, better prove that they're better, you know. Yeah, I'm going to start with the guy who is probably now I'm going to say we're doing favorites. Matt MacKay. Lemon's my guy, you know that USC.
B
Yeah, he's on my list for sure.
A
He just. The whole thing reeks of a mecca abuka for me. Not the biggest, not the, he's not going to test the best, but he just outperforms all those, the measurables, the numbers and all the stuff that we get kind of dizzied by in the process. So I look at Lemon and I'm, I'm watching the route running savvy and it's not necessarily like the crisp in and out of brakes, but you see that it's also like finding soft spots and zones, weaving in and out of areas. The west coast stuff like the Sean McVeigh stuff like the Puka Nakua Cooper cup back, like that kind of stuff. It's a feel for the game that, that if you have it, it's so valuable. Makai Lemon's got it. All right. And then the contested catches for a guy who's, he's. Yeah, he, he's a 5 11, but he's 195. He's tightly packed. He's like confident going up with defenders hanging from him. I just like the way he plays the game, the run after catch. He's not Zachariah Branch, but he's from Georgia, the explosive run after catch guy. But he's very productive after the catch and, and he does it with like contact, balance, vision again, weaving in and out. I just, I think I, it just translates to the NFL. Physicality, instincts, toughness, contested catches, all those things. It's what we've learned over the years of failing on 6, 3 or 2, 10 or 4, 3, 5 or whatever. Those you Know it. If you don't know now how to evaluate wide receivers and how it translates and the guys that can quickly translate, I got nothing for you. And this is one of those guys that translates immediately to the NFL and then the production. 79 catches, 1156 yards average, 14.6 with 11 touchdowns this year. And. And Jacobe Lane's not like a slouch on the other side. Like they went to him for a reason. So I Lemons, my. My guy at wide receiver.
B
Absolutely love his game. I can't sit here and listen to you do this every time and not have some pushback. There's a difference, right? I absolutely love Makai Lemon's game. Everything you said about his game is correct. He does win contested catches. 511, 195Aet Kabuka was 6, 200 pounds.
A
Go lad monkey, go. I'm just talking about guys that maybe don't test well, maybe for whatever reason get overlooked. And. And it feels like we just. There's a ceiling towards how high we can bump them up.
B
Yeah, listen, it's going to be interesting what he tests. I remember watching Elijah Moore come out of Ole Miss and thinking he. His tape at Ole Miss was outstanding. Outstanding man. And like there's. It's just there's. I think size matters. Do you know lana Conkey ran a 43 9?
A
Yeah, I do.
B
Is he gonna run a 43 9?
A
I don't think the 439 that lad McConkey runs is the reason why he's so successful.
B
It's because he's so sudden.
A
I get.
B
I hear you. It does matter a little bit though. You. You used to tell me this all the time. Dude. You would say mention still a height weight speed league and in some, in.
A
Some ways it is at certain positions.
B
It'S changing and I think you're ahead of the curve there. I agree with you on that. Size isn't as important otherwise receiver as it used to be. That's clear. That is clear. But there is still that line of like. When do we get to the line of like, oh, now it's.
A
Now it's. What do you think? You think Makai Lemon's slow?
B
I don't think he's slow. But I wouldn't be surprised if Makai Lemons 510 weighs 180 pounds and runs a 4 5, 5. And then. Then we're. Then we're talking about a different thing.
A
That's why he runs a 45 5. Yes, we're talking about a little different thing. Yes. Yeah. So we'll see what he writes. But.
B
But his tape is awesome. My next receiver is Carnell Tate.
A
Go ahead.
B
That's. That's the Ameca Buka of this class is Carnell Tate. And it's easy. It's just. It's lazy, but it's easy. Carnell Tate, man, the ball skills. He's going to go up. He's going to get the 50, 50 ball. He's that Ohio State route runner. He knows how to stem his routes. He knows that leverage. Defenders been banged up a little bit. I get that. But he's been very productive when he's been on the field. I love Carnell Tate.
A
I do, too. He was actually my second guy. I mean. But beyond that, I got an interesting.
B
I want to throw at you. And I think it's more of an honorable mention, but I mentioned the other day I wanted to do it and I did. Antonio Williams from Clemson, man.
A
Yeah.
B
Watch the tape. You might start falling back in love with that dude. And I think he's going to be one of the things I love about him. If you're looking at it as an evaluator or a potential gm, I think the value is going to be there. I think because he's had some problems staying healthy because he's a smaller guy and he's really going to be a slot receiver. I don't think he's going to be a first round pick like we thought at the beginning of the year. He's going to probably be a day two guy. But I watched. I went back and watched. Remember how he like eight drops last year, but we couldn't figure it out because he caught the ball well. Two drops this year. He's cleaned it up. He plucks, he tracks well. He's. He gets open underneath, wins at the line of scrimmage. I just. There's a lot of things to like about Antonio Williams, man. And he's flown under the radar a little bit this year because he was hurt early on and then the wheels came off of Clemson.
A
I think value is a really important word when you said that. That like it hit a. Because ultimately at the end of the day, favorite equates to value.
B
Yeah.
A
Reds, Red, Star. We'll get to in a little bit. Equates to value. Like, I just believe this guy's going to wind up playing out, playing where he's drafted, right?
B
Yep.
A
And so a lot. A lot of this list, as you're listening or watching, is about us saying, I get it. So. And so players. Mendoza is probably going to get drafted higher than. Than Sorsby or. But there's something about this guy. I just think like keep an eye on this because I think he's going to wind up getting drafted higher. I'll throw one more name in there because I do love Zachariah Branch in a certain. Oh, yep. I do love Casey Conception, what he's done this year in a certain role coming out of Texas A M. But I can't do a wide receivers my guy list or favorites without throwing in Chris Brazil, the second CB2.
B
Yeah, your guy.
A
I just like everyone's sleeping and I get it. Inconsistency and. But he's tall, he's long, he's freaking fast. He makes some big time plays and I just. Dad's an NFL player. I just think he's going to get to the league and he's. I don't know. Maybe he's a second round pick. Maybe he falls to the third. We'll see how he runs.
B
He put the fear of God in Georgia, man. He was scared of him.
A
They're still having nightmares.
B
Yep.
A
He made Georgia's secondary focus more in practice every day. So they never felt that way again. Yeah.
B
You know.
A
Yeah. Brazil would be. Let's just keep him. Keep him in mind. I quick. Yeah.
B
Another.
A
No.
B
Chris Bell from Louisville coming off at torn acl, which is tough, but he's excited. He's a big dude. He's powerful after the catch. He's an exciting player to keep an eye on.
A
If I see one more person on Twitter Mafia, the AJ Brown, Chris Bell, like, get it. Height, weight, speed.
B
There you go.
A
All right. So. So what are we going to agree on here? I think we agree on. I mean, screw it. Let's have three wide receivers because everyone's a nickel. It's. It's got to be Tate Lemon, Boston Love. It doesn't have to be in that order. Just those would be the three. And then let's have second team or, or you know, values, whatever we're going to call that. That secondary column should be. Who else did you mention?
B
Brazel, Antonio Williams.
A
Brazel and Antonio Williams. Let's throw those guys in. Guys that like, just watch because where they get drafted, they're going to probably outperform it. All right, tight end. Interesting class. You got Kenyon, Kenyon Sadiq from Oregon and then you got a bunch of really good tight ends. Yeah, but from where the first tight ends drafted to the second and then, you know, and when that second one goes there'll probably be a little run on tight ends in that. I don't. What do we want to say? Third, early fourth round range, right?
B
Yep. We're gonna wake. I think we're gonna wake up on Saturday and be like, I can't believe this guy's still.
A
I can't believe Gunner Helm's still on the board. 46 catches for the Titans right now as a rookie. Exactly one of those deals, right?
B
Yep. I agree.
A
Get 46 catches, bro.
B
The. The most interesting 40. We will talk about that 40 for the rest.
A
He got shot. He got a sniper in the top of the. The dome in Indianapolis and then acted like.
B
Acted like he was fine until another one.
A
Yeah. And his ankle is the size of a cantaloupe. Purple. Oh, it's amazing.
B
Amazing.
A
I remember. I remember sitting in that hotel. I can't wait to get back to Indianapolis. We're back at the same hotel. We get the same room, set up.
B
Continental, man. It was awesome.
A
Oh, my gosh. Don't tell anyone.
B
It's a new hotel.
A
In Indy, no one caught on last year. Except I think I saw, like, Kyle Shanahan. I was like, yeah, yeah. He's always ahead of the curve. But sitting in there and we get this big room where you and I are watching the combine, and it's like. And it's like he goes. Helm takes off his first two steps in the 40. I'm like, I think he got. Yeah.
B
What just happened? Right?
A
Like a dog bit his ankle or he doesn't know how to run. Like, is this something physically wrong? You know, And I'm almost laughing because I'm like. It's like a nervous laughter. And then we find out the story. But we had to go do a show that night. We still didn't know the story. And we're like, yeah, right. Didn't look right. I got a kind of a tough takeoff. Ran a 4, 8. 8. Or, you know, it was horrible. All right. So I didn't expect that long. How can it not be Kenyan Sadiq?
B
I love Kenyan Sadiq, man.
A
So go. You. You take it from there.
B
I mean, I just recently went back and just. What? He's just the. The first thing. The most impressive thing I like about him is that his after catch is different. He's. He's almost built different. He's just so explosive and with great contacts, contact, balance and power. I think they played Montana State, who might win the FCS championship in the. In the opener or early in the season. And this poor corner from Montana State try To tackle him. He just shrugged him off, ran 30, 20, 30 yards for a touchdown. I mean he is unique in run after catch I think is the biggest thing. He has six drops this year. I went through and watched him. I'm not overly concerned when I watch him again. It's kind of that Antonio Williams thing when you watch him catch the ball. He's a natural, natural hands catcher, great body control. Not, not really a big issue for me. I think he's got great ball skills and then the ability to separate. He's already developing as a route runner and I think he'll even get better get better in that area as he learns to stem guys and run more a more complete route tree. But there's no question he's going to be able to separate and he's already finding pockets in zone. Looks like he's just the complete package at tight end. You might want him to be a little bit bigger, but in terms of the explosiveness this dude's just different and he's fun to watch.
A
Yeah and I got in a lot of trouble with, with folks in Eugene, Oregon for my comments and if scouts got memos sent to them and all that because I, I just was relaying the information, not trying to get anyone in trouble but honest to God I, I think believe it or not, contrary man, opposite of contrary belief. I don't just a lot of times when I say, say stuff when people are like what is it? And, and that Tucker and, and Dan and Connor especially are like oh my gosh, can I know what I'm doing? And I've thought about it before and I knew what I was doing. Sometimes I think it's good for a player to hear what the real message is behind the, behind the scenes. I know I, I like honesty and I'm not saying I had any like I, I know I didn't have anything to do with but I think word started to get out. He's. He's 20 years old, still some maturing to do. Why isn't he in practice? Scouts are showing up like and, and Oregon's always going to defend their players. But you know what happened since then as he kind of maybe got the message and people were starting to talk about like why isn't he getting targeted and what's going. He's such a physical blocker but like what's going on with Sadeik and he's not quite playing to the level and the production that Warren had last year and Loveland had. Those are, those are tight end ones. Go back. And look, since that. Since what, what I said again, it sounds like I'm making about me. It's not about me. There was something going on in that building and a message was being sent to him. I just happened to get that message and I wasn't supposed to get that message. That's what happened. From that point on he's tight end one in the class. He's the high target guy. He's the big play guy, difference maker. He's been what you expect from a guy that we're talking about as a potential top 15 pick. Okay. And it's been awesome to watch. And that's the guy that NFL team is going to spend a top 15 money, $30 million guaranteed, five years to bring in and have that expectation. The second half of the season is what we're going to get. So Sadiq is the absolutely the tight end one in this class. I want to throw out another name, a guy I think who's, who's going to get. Who's going to wind up out playing where he's drafted. I went back and watched a little bit more tape on this Jack Andrews. Andrews from.
B
I love him. There's a lot of guys I love in this group but go ahead.
A
I just. Cal transfer walked on senior night leaving but still playing in the Citrus Bowl. Okay. Loves the game. The difference between he and Helm was targeted more. They had a quarterback in Quinn Ewers that couldn't throw the vert outside and had a lot of struggles and kind of his security blanket. Right. This year you've got Arch getting better and better every week and starting to really deliver the ball all over the field. And you've got Wingo and Moore and Livingston and Mosley and. And you know those, those guys, the four wide receivers who are all dudes. Right. And so he doesn't have great production necessarily. But still with Those as the fifth best, the fifth, fifth most targeted player on that offense winds up with 28 catches for what's he got 311 yards, couple touchdowns. And I just Gunner Helm slightly bigger, slightly bigger catch radius. Maybe like more a little bit more physical. Although I don't even know he was. I see a lot of similarities in terms of like instinctively good football player. But I think Andrews, I mean I, I know injuries is faster, can stretch the seam a little bit more. I go back to 46 catches for Helm as the 120th pick overall, fourth round, 46 catches. I think injuries is going to be on a similar trajectory in terms of what he can Provide in the NFL.
B
Yeah. Because I like the top of the tight end class. So it's going to drive some of those guys down. I will say we needed to at least mention the William V. Campbell award winner. Do you know what that is, McShay? I didn't. It's the. It's the academic Heisman. It's apparently the smartest guy. Did you know that? I didn't know it.
A
I actually did. Yes. Yes.
B
Vanderbilt's Eli Stowers just. Guy I want to mention because I love the production. I love what he can do as a receiver. But I. I'm fine with Andrews being the second guy there. He's going to be. There are a lot of talent dudes at the top. Andrews is going to be one of those guys that just sneaks in and I. You could have the very similar path.
A
Well, let's go, let's go, let's go. Sadiq was the. As. The. As the first team. And then let's throw in Andre's and Stowers, two other guys. Keep an eye on right. We gotta go tempo. Dan's already telling me we gotta hurry up.
B
Yep.
A
Offensive tackle. This is your position. You can. You can.
B
Yeah, but my head's already spinning like this. That's. What's the problem with this one. Okay.
A
So I'm gonna.
B
I'm just gonna tell you right now. I'm not.
A
It's.
B
I know Spencer Fano is our top. He's the top tackle on my board. He's my favorite tackle to watch. He just moves different. I know. He's the right tackle. I know he had some problem against Texas Tech. I understand all that. He's also the Outland Award winner. He is. Spencer Fano is different. And I love Maui Noah from Miami, too. And he's a ton of fun to watch because he's a grinder. I do wonder if he's going to end up being a guard in the NFL. But Spencer Fano would be my number one guy that I love to watch. He's my favorite player. He's probably my favorite player because being who I am, he's probably my favorite player to watch this entire class.
A
So that's. That's it. There's no. I was waiting for him. You can, like a. It felt like you could go, well.
B
There'S some other interesting guys. Like, I think there's some guys who are gonna. This is what's interesting about this. And kind of bleeding into. We're gonna go into your interior offensive line in a second. Like, you look at guys like.
A
All right, never mind. Don't give away other names.
B
Sorry.
A
I knew where you were going, so I didn't cut you off because I'm rude. I cut you off because I didn't want you to. Spoiler alert. And we did not. We did not talk a lick about this before. But I just. I can read his mind with certain things. I'll say this. I'll. Fano's fine. We'll put him as first. First team. I will say this. Kaden Proctor. And I've struggled sometimes with Alabama guys. Some massive guy, all that. This dude's a little unique. Remember like Orlando Brown coming out of oh.
B
He won't get out of the top 15 picks in my opinion. Just because. Yeah, because of what he can be.
A
You learn lessons over time. The tape doesn't always look great at the college level with some of these guys. And yes, cornerback more than any position you talk about the arm length combined with the 40 time changes the trajectory of where guys get drafted. And wide receiver with 40s and certain. But when you look at traits. I don't know if there's a position in terms of NFL success where it correlates more and when you tell me 6, 6 or 6, 7, 3, 60 traits rarely lose in the NFL at the offensive tackle position. And then the kids are.
B
Kids are going nuts right now.
A
I know six, seven. You heard me pause. And my son is so mad at me for all of it. So Tate, I didn't do it. Uncle Mensch did. But the athleticism for the size and yeah, he's got. I see a guy who. He's get. He's. He's not where he's going. He's not where he's going to be. He's not yet where he needs to be. But I see improvement this year and I just decaden pro. So we'll go. We'll go fan one, fan one. And then we'll go. Proctor as the second there. Okay. Now let's transition to interior offensive line.
B
Yep.
A
And this is what I tell you when I get your name right. My Frank D. Feliz. Remember four fingers one Boys, boys, your way don't work. My now would use mine right. Can't eat it on the bus. Can't eat it on the field. Figure it out.
B
Figure it out.
A
We're going to be at masking omet all day long. You got to have lunch. Got to eat lunch. Can't eat it on the bus. Can't eat it on the field. Figure it out. He also Used to say what I like basic essentially. What When I know your name and learn your name, it means you matter. Francis, Maui Noah. It's draft time. I got your name right. I think interior offensive line. I don't think there's going to be a better interior offensive lineman in this class. I, I, I know you think he's.
B
Going to play on the inside.
A
I think, I think that would be best case. I could see him at right tackle. It could work out. If you're saying, if you're saying Todd, you just got that gmc. We got you. You have to hit on an offensive lineman and it could be any of the five positions. I would say give me ma no at guard and we're good.
B
I like that. I agree with that.
A
He's, I mean 66325 former five star. Started as a freshman right tackle. Gotten better each year. I mean just dominant in the run game. Has some things that passed. I just, I think he's, I think he's a lock as a, as a starting point guard and a great one in the NFL.
B
I, I all I am with you 100. That's our top guy. The, the next name though that I think really needs to be there is Oregon's Emmanuel pregnant. I watched this guy's tape in the last 24 hours and I am and I'd seen him a little bit already.
A
But I'm hearing a lot about him now.
B
I'm in love. I am really like I am. I think he's gonna go. I think he's gonna be the first true guard off the board. No offense to Penn State fans, but I think he's gonna be the first true guard. The guy that plays guard. That' the board. I'm telling you man. He is scheme versatile in the run game. He's got the power to move guys off the line in a man gap scheme. He can reach guys as a zone blocker. I'm watching him pass protection. I love the base that he sets with. So he's strong. I love the way he passes off guys with his hands. He can move a little bit side to side. He's like, I think he's 330 pounds.
A
He's a four year starter.
B
Started at Wyoming, went to USC for two years and now he's at Oregon. I just, I, I was blown away with how good his tape was.
A
So, so that's our, that's our list Ma. We know a one and then we'll put pregnant as is kind of the guy to keep an eye on, right? Yep. A lot of things in life excite. I got a new lease on life. A lot of things excite me in life. But I'll tell you a few things that probably excite me the most. Right? One is anytime we talk about. That's my guy, right. My guys. Two is. And it's kind of a correlation with the first Red Star players. That's like when you do all this work and you're working behind the scenes and you're talking to everyone at the school and you're figuring out who the human being is and how much he loves ball and the leadership he brings. And you talk about the tape that you pour into in a dark room, eating snacks you shouldn't eat and drinking stuff that's probably not even great for you, right?
B
Yep.
A
So it's my guys, it's Red Stars. And it's the thought of you and me driving around the coast. It'll be cute and fun. The thought of you in a Scout Motors vehicle in New Hampshire with that beard, going from the mountains down to the coast like we gotta mench is cool. But can you imagine the cool level? The factor. So today, what excites me the most as we get into our Red Stars, who are essentially my guys. Today's my guys is brought to you by our really good friends and partners, Scout Motors. Okay, I love a good shout out. So here's one. The all new Scout Terra and Scout Traveler. Iconic in the 70s, reimagined for tomorrow with plans for advanced four wheel drive. It's one comeback you'll want to watch. All right, so with all that said match and I love. I'm not joking. Can I.
B
Can I just tell you I'm a little mad at you?
A
Why?
B
You've gotten my hopes up for one of these things, have you? I really looked at Tucker.
A
We don't have speakers yet. I know.
B
I don't know if I could rug it enough to pull off the tear, which also, I mean, but dude, these cars, they. I mean they look. I don't even know if they're called cars. Vehicles are unbelievable. They are unbelievable. I spent 15 to 20 minutes watching this thing the other day.
A
You know me like, I love kind of excited the Shade Hotel. Like when give me like that 70s vibe. Like we're like 70s babies live our youth in the 80s. Scout was like the deal man. And now. But. But give me that without like the rolling up the window or like the, you know, or like staying at like an old hotel. But like you have to like, I want AC and I Want all the luxuries of today. This is what they're doing. I'm like weirdly fired up about it.
B
So talk, please.
A
Please get our names on the list and then we'll have to talk to manage. We're going to need to. Yeah. All right. So Red Star fits perfectly with what we're doing today. Red Star player. Give me your Red Star. It could be at any position. It won't be a name on our first and second team. Okay. It's just a guy that you believe in at this point that if you walked into the GM's office and said, I know we got a third round grade on him, I'm gonna put that Red Star next to his name on our board. And that means start thinking about him late. Second, because I believe in him that much of all. And I've evaluated six, seven hundred players. Seven again, hundred hundreds of players in my area. But this is the guy I believe in the most. Who's yours?
B
I don't know. I'm. There's other guys that are worthy of this, right? There really are. But I think there's one clear name. And I'm assuming you're gonna have the same guy. Texas Tech inside linebacker Jacob Rodriguez. I don't care. Find a way to get.
A
But a great one.
B
Find a way to get this dude on my team. I don't care. I mean, he is. And it's a deep inside linebacker class I get that. Leads the country with seven force fumbles. We love a good punch, man. This guy will come in, he'll punch it out, he'll rip it out. He just has a nose of the football. Same thing. Four interceptions this year. It's an instinct thing. He. I don't even think he has great ball skills. There's been. There's two of those interceptions. He just taps the ball to himself. He doesn't just snatch it out of the air. But again, making plays. He's not the biggest guy. He'll miss some tackles, but he's instinctive. The motor is ridiculous. The intelligence is ridiculous. Give me Jacob Rodriguez no matter what. I don't care what he tests. Don't tell me about the testing numbers. I don't care about. Maybe they're good. I don't know.
A
I don't want to know. I just.
B
I don't care. I want him in my building somehow, some way.
A
That's a great Red Star. That's. That's a. That's a. Rodriguez is a my guy if I've ever seen one. I'm gonna See your Rodriguez and I'm gonna push, put it all in our Mason Thomas. Now he'll get drafted higher, he's an edge and he's got sack production than Rodriguez. But again, it's about like, all right, we've got him here on our board. I think a lot of teams are playing like early second some. Will it shock you if we're here at this point, 15 weeks into the NFL season next year? Or like, how did our Mason Thomas get to like pick 46, 48.
B
Yeah. How did, how did Denver get this guy on day two? And all of a sudden he's got, you know.
A
Right.
B
Yeah, yeah.
A
Like a Nick Bonito type deal.
B
Yes, that's what I'm thinking.
A
Oklahoma. Yeah. Yes. It's, it's, it's the explosive first step. Now, mind you, let's start with why he might not be a first round pick and a guy like Reuben Bain, Keldrick Falk. It's like guys that are awesome football players and maybe have different measurables, although Bane has got the short arms. Guys are going to get drafted earlier, but it won't shock me next year at this very moment. And even like Donovan as a raku, right. All these same kind of traits, undersized, slow and, and our Mason Thomas may start off slow, adjusting to like the size, the speed, the length and all that. But we've seen as a raku start to take off in Dallas, right. Same. Our Mason Thomas will figure it out. And it's with that first step, it's with that motor, relentless motor. And there's something about his short area power with his hands. I think he's going to be able to get it done at the next level. So our Mason Thomas and he had the injury, ironically, the, the play that he's best known for this year, the most impactful play, the 71 yard fumble return. Yeah. Against Tennessee. What turned out to be a 33, 27 game one score game that and, and remember Oklahoma at the time was struggling. Tennessee jumped out. But that changed the whole landscape of that game.
B
And quite honestly, and that season probably.
A
Yeah, the season like that's where, that's why they, they got to where they, they did. So our Mason Thomas, nine and a half tackles for loss, six and a half sacks, two fourth fumbles, that 71 yard fumble return, all in 10 games. Like Rodriguez and our Mason Thomas as my guys Red Stars, I love it. And today's my guys was brought to you by Scout Motors. As we said, Scout Motors, man. Who are also making some pretty amazing moves in their field with the all new Scout Terra and Scout Traveler that Mensch has an affinity for. I get it. Some guys are terror guys, some guys are traveler guys, girls and gals. Like we all see it. They're both coming soon. Okay? Like get involved. A
All right, now onto the defensive side. We just talk about a two a pair of defensive players, right? Yep. You start us out at edge. Who you got?
B
I mean it's a key Messador for me the violence in his hands, the motor all over the Texas A M tape I just love. And you know what's great about him is the way that Corey Heatherman uses him, which is that they work him inside on guards and centers. You know, we talk about that NASCAR package. You always think about those Giants teams that would beat the Brady Patriot teams and they had that NASCAR package where they would kick their speed guys inside. That's what they do with Mecedor and that's what they're going to do at the NFL and he's going to be. Yeah, Jason, Peter, Paul. Exactly. They're. They're going to do that with this kid too. His hands. I mean as a former interior offensive lineman, I want no part of this kind of a player. He is just impossible to block because of the power and the violence and then you add the motor into it and how good he is against the run. Akeem Messador is just a Tasmanian devil out there and I love his game.
A
I just want to let the the audience know whether you're watching or listening. The when when men did the yeah J JPP he would he was not glitching. He didn't just have like a mental like that. You didn't get like a sneak peek. Something weird going. That was not very Dan. That was Dan Comer. Mr. Everything for the show. Sorry Dan. Shooting a quick note and in our chat here and saying jpp. It just must have been a funny moment for the. For the audience, right? Oh, it was Tucker. Tucker. Even better. Also Mr. Everything for the show. I mean, without those two, what would. What would we have? True. Like, literally not. It would be you and I talking to each other on phones about irrelevant things and doing it for three hours and having no structure, and it would get nowhere for no audience. Okay, I got you on that. I don't disagree. And I. And I've come to love Macedor as well, I do think. And it feels like chalk, but I do want to say something about Keldrick Falk from Auburn. Sack production's not where it needs to be. Only two sacks this year. Okay. And I get it, and it's concerning and all of that, but when you tell me I got a guy who's six six, who's 270, who's got the length that he has, got the power that he has, and he's got the pressures that he creates and the motor and the way he plays the game, the physicality that translates to the NFL. Sack production often does as well. So it is concerning. But I'll say this about. About Falk. He's one of the youngest prospects. I think he's only 20 years old right now, maybe like 19, turning 20. One of the youngest prospects in the entire draft class. And so there's a lot to work with there. What he is now is not what he's going to be in 2027, 2028. You know what I mean? So I hear you. I don't care if we go Messador 1, 2. If we go. You decide here. Mitch, what do you want to do? I think, like, it looks more natural to put Falk is. Is our. Our guy, but it feels like Messador is a little bit more like we're making the statement that we want to make.
B
Yeah. For this list, I would go Messador and then.
A
All right, let's go Messador and then. And then obviously our Mason Thomas is. Is. Is there as the Red star interior defensive lineman. You go. You can start here, too.
B
I'm going with the Oregon defense, tackle Mari Washington. There's a lot of guys I like in this class, by the way, but I look at Amari Washington, I just think he's a. He can be. He's 330 pounds, man. He's 6 foot 3, 330 pounds, and he could be a one gap guy if you want him to be. He's that explosive. He can be that disruptive. He's also stout I mean, just look at that size. He's tough to move. I don't think he's realized his upside as a pass rusher yet. But keep two things in mind. He was number four and Bruce Feldman's freakless coming into the season. This dude is different in the way he can move. I don't think he's reached his upside yet. And the other thing to keep in mind is he has seven passes broken up. He had one against Jay Madison the other night. Does a good job of getting his hands up. Getting his hands and passing lanes, batting balls down. That's something that I really like about his game too. Amari Washington, I think he's already. I just. Based on the tape, I would put him in near the top of the class. And then when you add in the tools and where he could end up going, it's just he, he's. This is a guy that could get in the NFL and just take off.
A
Peter woods is probably going to be the first interior defensive line taken lineman taken out of Clemson. Okay. He had a disappointing year from a production and like it didn't. My gosh, his tape was so good last year and it had.
B
Yeah.
A
Had the feeling of a guy who this year was going to come out and be like, all right, I'm refined a little bit more, you know, like hand usage. I'm gonna like, I'm gonna add one or two tools to the bag. And it just didn't see it. But it's still. He's so damn good, right?
B
Yeah.
A
And then you got Omari Washington of the top guys, who has had the best year, I think in my opinion. But then you got this guy, Caleb Banks from Florida.
B
Oh, I thought you were gonna go in a different direction.
A
I love this good K. Like he basically. I think he played 24 snaps all season long. Had a foot injury and sure, say he shut it down. Say he got re injured. Like, I don't care what you say. 6, 6, 3, 30 with. We're gonna find out in Indianapolis. I'm told it's 35 plus inch arm length.
B
Wow.
A
Bullying players. It moves well. Sack production has never been awesome, but I think there's like Dexter Lawrence's sack production wasn't awesome. Like, I think this guy's got a chance to be pretty damn special in the NFL.
B
I do too. We gotta add it. We have to have a third name here though.
A
All right, give it go.
B
Ohio State's Kane McDonald. Who? I know he's been awesome.
A
Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. But I feel like we talked about.
B
Case better than I thought.
A
Yeah, I told you.
B
Yeah, he does. I didn't, I wasn't buying it. I went back and I watched.
A
You're right.
B
He moves better than I thought. He's got some, there's obviously got some juice. Yeah.
A
When we look back at this class as disappointing, I don't want to say if there are four guys drafted in the interior offensive line in the first round, you'd say, boy, it didn't feel like we had four guys playing college football this season that belonged in the first. You know what I mean? Woods disappointing. Bank sat out. McDonald came out and kind of not a nowhere but like skyrocketed. Washington kind of, you know.
B
Another good defensive tackle class.
A
It's another good defensive tackle class. All right, linebacker. This one's intriguing.
B
Yeah, it is. It's a great class.
A
I mean, put Arvel Reese there, right?
B
Yep.
A
Because he's unique.
B
He's a unicorn.
A
If he's not your favorite, if he's not your best and something's wrong, he's a unicorn. 6, 4, 2, 40. The length of the, the edge rushing ability, the ability to cover the range and he's just a first year starter so you know it's just going to keep getting better. But I'm interested. I'll start out and I want another name from you and maybe it'll be the same name. I, I just feel like we gotta stop overlooking what's going on with Sonny Styles. Man.
B
Yes, there we go. Yes.
A
My guy. Also 6, 4, also 240. Also athletically frequently gifted. Runs sideline to sideline as well as anybody. Fast, rangy and coverage instincts were good last year, got better as the season progressed. This year I think they're even better. Showing some leadership, kind of like, I don't know, I, I, I, Reese is going to be the first and some and a lot of people are gonna say, well the edge rushing also help. He's going to be a top five pick. Could be the first non quarterback taken. Could be Sunny Styles. I think it would be a travesty if he's not in the top 25 picks and if someone takes him at like 16. Where'd Jack Campbell get drafted? Detroit 18. Something like, I don't know. I can look though, but it's been a while. I think it's one in the last. It was like one in the last two or two in the last four years, something like that. Like true off the ball linebackers that didn't have edge components to them drafted in the first round, not a lot of guys go. Styles is going to go. I gotta believe.
B
I think you go. This, this linebacker class is so good. You could go five or six deep here. Of the guys that I like, I mean, Deontay Lawson, C.J. allen, it just Jake Golday from Cincinnati. There is a bunch of dudes in this class. So it's really good. But I like R2. I like, I like R2.
A
Yeah. And I went, I did that list of the McShay report I don't have in front of me. I ripped off 10 names. And there was an 11th to 11 guys that are going to wind up getting drafted. And they're probably there more. I wasn't including all the under 11 guys just in the College Football Playoff, 12 teams. And honestly, it was from 10 teams. I didn't have a linebacker from JMU or from Tulane.
B
Right.
A
The linebacker play is similar to the running back play in college football a year ago, you know, and all those running backs drafted. So it's been awesome to watch. The 18th pick.
B
Not bad.
A
Good pull. Campbell was. Thank you. Yeah. Thank you. It's how our relationship works. Mentioned. I've had a thousand conference calls and I go on rants and I say. And then all of a sudden he'll just. Right before we move on the next subject, he always rips it off for me.
B
Me.
A
Yeah. So I, I, I think that's good. I think it's the obvious. Is Reese, but with Styles right, right there behind him. And do you want to add the third or where are you going?
B
I think we're good.
A
Okay. All right, cornerback. I'm gonna jump you on this one.
B
Oh, I'm so excited. My guy. If you get my guy before I do, I'm gonna be so mad. Go ahead. Go ahead.
A
When you spell his name, does it look like you're about to spell Monsoon?
B
No.
A
No. Okay.
B
But I love him.
A
I Love Mons Delane. 6 foot, 190 scheme, versatile. I love my cornerbacks to be smart. I just do. Yes. I love speed. I love length. I'd like, I would love, I would love length, speed, and smart. Because smart, like smart trumps tough. Smart like this, he is just so damn smart, man. And the scheme versatility he provides you as a guy who can match up man to man, who can. And like, from first and 10, being man to man to second and six, being in zone to third and three, be back in man. To me, like, he can match zone. He like, he just does it all. And he's been productive this year. And he's got what the two interceptions, 45 tackles, 11 pass breakups. He's been around the ball versus the run pass all season long. That disappointing LSU season, like, if you had to pick one player who exceeded the expectations on a massively disappointing LSU team, it's Delane and it transferred for Virginia Tech. I think it was three years at Tech 1 and one at LSU. I just, I like, I like a lot about his game. I think he's a first rounder. Might not be the, probably not the first corner off the board. I think that could be Jermod McCoy from Tennessee. There's some other guys that you throw into the mix, but I think, I think Delane, when I talk to scouts now, it's not in the beginning of the year is he might play his way into the back end of the first now it's like, I don't know that it'll be the first corner taken, but he's like, he's a lock top, I don't say top 20. His corners have slid a little bit more. He's a lock first rounder. Won't be shocking if it's closer to first half of the first round than it is like the end of the first round. Fringe second.
B
I am with you 100. I called you right after I watched this tape and we basically said at the same time, just the intelligence. He's really, he's rarely wrong and he can do so many different things for you and it may be boring, it's almost boring his game, but he's just so good because he's always in the right place and he's always doing what he's supposed to do. I, I, he's awesome. He's the number one corner of my board, a guy that I am super excited about. And I've been watching a bunch of corners lately is San Diego State defensive corner Chris Johnson. Man, four picks this year. Two of them return for touchdowns. He's 6 foot 185, I think, or 6 foot 182, I think that's verified. 6 foot 182. He was the second team all American. I'm kind of like, I was like, I, I saw the all American team came out. I was like, we got to talk about him soon. Because people are going to start talking about this kid. He is that good. I love the way that he reads the quarterback, steps in front of receivers, plays the ball off, man and zone looks and the other thing. And this really jumped out to me, man. I'm watching this. Brandon C Kid from South Carolina, and I'm like, he's pretty good, man. I'm watching Colton Hood from Tennessee, and I'm like, they're pretty good. One thing that Johnson is. Is clearly better at than those guys is he is way more comfortable, way more comfortable with his back to the line of scrimmage than those guys are.
A
He.
B
Johnson is. Is fine turning and running and turning to locate the ball over his. You know, he just. He has a knack for it. He has an instinct for it for where the other players are still kind of developing that feel. I was blown away with how good Johnson, and he's my third corner on my board right now. I think he's that good. He's going the Senior Bowl. I'm really excited to watch him down there and see what he can do. I don't think enough people are talking about him. Chris Johnson from San Diego State. Watch out.
A
I've done a couple clips on him because I've talked to some guys that are really high on him, and I've seen kind of the, the, the groundswell, if you will. Yeah, I'm excited to get to like, his full, you know, when we. When the season's over and we're just diving in three, four hours on a guy, I'm excited to get to his tape because what I've seen, I really like. I'm glad you brought him up.
B
Also the school special teams player of the year in 2023, and I love when I see stuff like that. Yeah, you know, it just goes. Yeah, it says something.
A
All right, last position safety. I'm gonna throw one. That's off the radar a little bit. Emmanuel McNeil Warren from Toledo. Heard a little buzz about him, watched him not. He's not a first rounder. We all know who the first safety is off the board, but I'm just discussing some guys that deserve consideration here. McNeil Warren is six three, 209 pounds. The word that comes to mind for, like, a guy who's long, he's rangy, he can match up man to man. Covers a lot of ground, though, in zone and versus the run. Highly productive player. 73 tackles, five and a half tackles for loss. I think he had a pair. Yeah. Two interceptions this year, another four pass breakups, five interceptions over the last three years. Not massive interception production, but you want to. You want guys that, like, have done it. You know, I almost had a horrible. I do. I do check myself. I was gonna. I was gonna compare it to a prom date.
B
Here we go. Yeah, there we go.
A
Four, but four year player at Toledo could have gone somewhere else, hung there. Tampa, Florida product. I, I think McNeil Warren in a class where it's Caleb Downs and then there's a kind of a big drop down but some other names. I mean you look at the list and what is it? Thienamin? I can't. Well, I'll pronounce his name when he, when he does it right. Bray Hubbard. Who we love Michael Taft.
B
Ray Hubbard I thought might be your guy. I thought Bray Hubbard might be your guy.
A
I, I, I strongly considered Hubbard. I strongly considered Michael Taft. This guy Kyle Lewis from, from Pitt is getting a lot of buzz when I talk to people. I got to get into his team. There's a lot of names but it's definitely like the one guy and then a drop off. But then we'll start to see the safeties go kind of that late second, third, fourth round range and there's a, there's a group of pretty good guys.
B
I love AJ Hussey out of lsu. I know you just talked about Delane and maybe him being a highlight for that defense or that team. I think Halsey's the same way. Kid transferred from Houston this year.
A
He, I'll say this ass off this year. One of the, yeah.
B
One of the things I love about him is that, is that he's so aggressive now. That will get you in trouble. It does get him in trouble. Sometimes the angles need to be better. When he's feeling against the run, you know, he does get in trouble with the aggressiveness. But he's got eight interceptions over the last two seasons. This guy's been an absolute tackling machine. He leads LSU in in solo and total tackles this year. Second on the team in tackles with 74 for Houston last year, 98 tackles in 2023. This is a dude that will come up and hit you in the mouth and then what really I think sets him apart is that ball production is that he has a great feel for when the jump routes and then he will pluck it out of the air. He is a natural pass catcher. He is a playmaker at safety. He's 5, 11, 2, 222 pounds. He's a little squat, but he moves really well. Be interesting to see how he tests. I just love his game.
A
So we had 13 positions that we wound up doing with three wide receivers which was an add on. We also had the red star so it's basically 14 position. I love this exercise. If for no other reason, we probably got to 60, 70 names six, seven.
B
Yep.
A
So let me. Tucker, throw up the graphic here. Okay. I've just. These are the first team guys. And then we also had the honorable mentions, the second team, other guys that we think are going to be value picks. And again, these are not. You look at this and you say, well, Dante Moore's the first team quarterback on the all McShade team. McShay show team.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah, he is. And it maybe. We're not saying he's the number one ranked. We're not saying he's gonna be the first one off the board. I'm not even saying whether he's going to be in the class or not. I'm just saying whether it's upside or something about his game, we think he's gonna outplay his value. We went with the guys that we loved, our favorite players. And this. That's what our list is about. So define it however you want, but don't get caught up trying to send posts to us, messaging us about all like, what do you mean? But it's still. It lines up pretty much. I mean, we did a good job of making it look like, you know, a lot of the top guys off the board. Dante Moore at quarterback, Jeremiah Lovett at running back from Notre Dame, Denzel Boston, Mike Makai Lemon, and Carnell Tate, a wide receiver. Yes. We recognize Jordan Tyson is going to be, if not the first, second or third, what that would have been.
B
I mean, just thinking about those three specifically together, can you imagine that, that. That line?
A
Yeah. You got your six four receiver. You got. You got your six three guy who.
B
Yeah.
A
Then you got your Makai Lemon in the slot. It would be beautiful. And then Kenyon Sadiq, we can flex them out too. At the tight end position from Morgan, Spencer Fano from. From Utah. Offensive tackle. We kicked Francis Maui Noah in to guard from right tackle at Miami, Caleb Banks. We didn't put Peter woods there. We went with Caleb Banks, I guess.
B
And.
A
And who else did you. Washington and Amari Washington. Okay. I think Banks will go ahead of Washington, but we'll see. Arvell Reese at linebacker is an obvious. But we. We mentioned a couple linebackers. We absolutely love that are. That are playing the level as well. Mansour Delaine, we get it. I. I know that I. Go ahead.
B
I'm with you on that one though. I would have him right there. I love Chris Johnson. Mansour Delane's awesome. Like, if you're a fan of the. Of the craft of playing corner, this guy's the guy to watch.
A
And then. And Then we had a bunch of guys that we like at the safety position, including McNeil Warren from Toledo and. And you mentioned it.
B
A.J. halsey from.
A
Halsey from LSU and Taff and. And. And Hubbard and all those guys. But. But you can't have a list without Caleb. And we should mention with Caleb Downs. Yeah, he is a favorite. Like, you almost gloss over it because I feel like everyone knows at this point, but we'll do some deeper dives into Caleb Downs. We did a whole show on him in the preseason. The instincts, the leadership, the toughness, the scheme, versatility, everything he brings to the table. And the fact that he just kind of got overshadowed on what we're talking about is becoming like one of those iconic defenses after a group from last year. Eight guys drafted and was awesome defensively. This one's going down with like 2001 Miami and Bama and USC and like the mid 2005. Whatever it was with. With Malag. What was it? Cushing and Malaga Matthews. Thank you, Matthews. All those guys. Alabama in the 2010 early 2010s, Georgia recently. It's one of those defenses. And Caleb Downs, really, like, he's the guy in the back end that allows him to do so many different things.
B
You know what I love about that is the top art, I think, for both of us, our top corner and our top safety. When you talk about defensive backs, I think people want to know how fast are they, how well do they move? And their top trade for both of those guys, I think starts with intelligence. And it's. It speaks to how important that is at that position.
A
All right, this is a fun one. We'll. We'll be back on Christmas. We're going to tape it slightly in advance because no one wants to work on Christmas, but people do want to get a little content when. When the kids are off playing with their toys or whatever it is or that uncle's starting to drive you crazy that you just want to get a half hour away from. So we will be back with you on Christmas Day. We appreciate it. Men, I got to be honest with you. It's another five stars from me. Host: Todd McShay (A), with cohost Mensch (B)
Date: December 22, 2025
In this special inaugural episode, Todd McShay and Mensch assemble the first-ever All-McShay Show Team—a curated list of their favorite NFL Draft prospects for the 2026 class, position-by-position. This exercise is about personal preference, upside, and value rather than just who is No. 1 on the consensus board. The duo dives deep, sharing in-depth thoughts, breakdowns, comparisons, and under-the-radar names, giving listeners the most intriguing storylines and tidbits ahead of draft season. The team selection is collaborative, feisty, and filled with draft nerd banter—a real treat for draft junkies and casual fans alike.
“Favorite is like I just love this guy. He might be a second rounder…but I just believe in him…It’s an opportunity for us to discuss a whole bunch of guys and share our initial thoughts before we get in the pre draft process.” — Todd (06:04)
(Each host’s pound-the-table, underappreciated value pick—players not on the first/second team, whom they “believe in the most.”)
“This linebacker class is so good. You could go five or six deep…Deontae Lawson, C.J. Allen, Jake Goldey…” — Mensch (63:05)
On QB evaluation philosophy:
“If someone were to call me tomorrow and say, ‘Hey, walk away from the McShay Show. Come be the general manager…’ I would bet my first major decision on Dante Moore.” — Todd (11:14)
On what ‘favorite’ means:
“The beauty of this exercise is…an opportunity for us to discuss a whole bunch of guys and share our initial thoughts before we get in the pre draft process.” — Todd (06:04)
On Nicholas Singleton’s rough year:
“Everything was wrong in Happy Valley this year…but how many times have we learned our lesson that when things are bad as in their last year in college, talent always seems to prevail.” — Todd (15:50)
On prospects who may get overlooked:
“I can’t do a wide receivers my guy list or favorites without throwing in Chris Brazell II…He made Georgia’s secondary focus more in practice every day. They’re still having nightmares.” — Todd (28:54)
On cornerback intelligence:
“I love my cornerbacks to be smart…Smart trumps tough. He is just so damn smart, man…” — Todd on Delane (64:45)
On evolutions in positional value:
“It’s still a height-weight-speed league and in some ways it is at certain positions…it’s changing and I think you’re ahead of the curve there. Size isn’t as important at wide receiver as it used to be.” — Mensch (25:47)
Red Star explanation:
“Red Star player…just a guy that you believe in at this point, if you walked into the GM’s office and said, ‘I know we got a third round grade on him, but I’m going to put that red star next to his name…’” — Todd (46:45)
| Position | Player | Notables/Quotes | |--------------------|------------------------------|-------------------------------------------------------------| | QB | Dante Moore (Oregon) | “Best upside…would bet my first major decision on him.” | | RB | Jeremiah Love (Notre Dame) | “Favorite back of this class.” | | WR | Denzel Boston (Washington) | “He’s being overlooked right now. I love watching him play.”| | WR | Makai Lemon (USC) | “Just translates to the NFL…instincts, toughness.” | | WR | Carnell Tate (Ohio State) | “Ohio State route runner…goes up for the 50/50 ball.” | | TE | Kenyon Sadiq (Oregon) | “Run after catch is different…explosive.” | | OT | Spencer Fano (Utah) | “My favorite player to watch in the entire class.” | | IOL | Francis Maui Noah (Miami) | “Don’t think there’s a better IOL in this class.” | | EDGE | Akeem Mesidor (Texas A&M) | “Violence in his hands…motor…interior/out versatility.” | | IDL | Amari Washington (Oregon) | “Disruptive, tough to move, massive upside.” | | LB | Arvell Reese (Ohio State) | “He’s a unicorn…range and edge rush ability.” | | CB | Mansur Delane (LSU) | “Scheme versatile…always in the right place.” | | S | Caleb Downs (Alabama) | (Implied) “Instincts, leadership, ‘iconic defense.’” |
Honorable mentions and “red star” picks are summarized within the relevant sections above.
Next up: Christmas Day episode – the second annual redraft of the previous NFL Draft.
Closing rating: “It’s another five stars from me!” — Todd
