Ah, there it is. Tate McShay and the gang McShade. Thirteen, right there, Junior.
B
So cool.
A
Yeah. He had the big tournament in time today. Unfortunately, those two pictures were probably the highlight of the day if I'm gonna be. Yeah, Tough day. Fortunately, I view tough days as the best days, man.
B
Yeah. Learning opportunity.
A
As a dad, we didn't talk a word about football on the ride home. One hour ride home. Him and I, we talked about life and growing up and being a man and being a leader and carrying your head and interceptions, head high. All of it. So that was cool. That was cool.
B
That's awesome.
A
Yeah. Good for you. You find the wins. You find. Yes. Even if they're not sitting for you in a platter, you find the wins. And today was a good day, a special day.
B
Take the time. Yep.
A
And you take the time. I know we get some. Some young men who have said they're about to have their first children, and we did newborns and everything else, so, like, you know, don't take all my lessons, because they're not all great. I promise you, they're pretty good.
B
They're pretty good.
A
But some. But some are okay. All right, next up, what do we got, Tuck? Oh, this is great. This is great. This is Tucker's good friend at Palm Springs High School, Coach Dustin Jackson. Show it again. Look at this animal. This is what high school football is all about. Not necessarily the palm trees, but on top of. Standing on top of the building, ready to jump off of it to go make a tackle in the A gap.
B
Is what. What I want to know is why this setup? Is it because there was no space underneath, or is it because he thinks he gets a better angle?
A
I want to know. High school football. And high school football is a little quirky, depending on the stadium you're in.
B
What's the angle? He wants the. I love that.
A
And then. And Tucker beat it to me when he said angle. He texted in the chat angle. And it's because high school football coaches are the craziest human beings on the face of the planet, and that's why we love it. You see him, but, you know, he's. He's ready to go. Tell me that guy's not a former linebacker. He's nuts. That's what Tucker said. You can tell. And nuts is a beautiful thing. And we celebrate nuts on this show constantly. It came out weird, the amount of.
B
Time those guys have to put in and the commitment they have to make to make. I mean, no money. No money. I don't know what they pay, but it's no money. They have to, like, the. The love for the game in their community is. You know, we like to talk about the scouting community on here because of how unrecognized they are, and they don't get enough credit. High school coaches, man, are just the freaking best. Just the best to care about people that much. To care. That guy cares about how well those kids are going to do on third down that night so much that he wants to get up on the top of that so we can see formations better, so we can see who's, you know, what kind of. Who's blowing their assignments. All that stuff.
A
That's insane. It's awesome. All right, Tucker, what do we got next? Oh, this is great. Thick six. Wheeling Park Patriots. Listen, not every. No one can watch ESPN apparently now, so you may not have seen it on game day, but I had. We had to show this. Yep, he's still going. Oh, the big fell. Akeem Davis from Wheeling park football. That's an awesome moment.
B
A couple things.
A
I love it.
B
In year two, we're starting to celebrate the big men. We're starting to get the big men. I feel like almost weekly we have a big man making a play on here. And the second thing is it feels like some of the. Some of these guys are making some business decisions. And you know what? I don't blame them. Look at the size of that human being and the way he's moving. Unbelievable.
A
Yeah. I would want nothing to do with that when he freaks out.
B
There's a little bit of juice there, man. There's a little bit of a burst.
A
There was. I could see, like, you know, like in Alabama, the way that Clemson has historically. All right, sorry. I'm still working. I'm going back to my favorite, the YouTube TV, when I can get off of that crud. That I've been dealing with for the last two weeks. Oh, this is my favorite.
B
I have no idea where to put this on here.
A
I know. And. Because it makes you uncomfortable, and I love it. I worked with Craig James for a long time at cbs. I got my career started with Craig James and Jerry Glanville and Jim Nance. Just, like, writing down notes. I'm not. I'm not pro bullying and all the things. All I'm saying is how smart and like, I just. Yeah, I saw this, and I started dying. Left. Anyone who doesn't know Adam James, there were rumors that he was locked in a shed. Whether it was hazing or a coach who was angry with him when he was at Texas Tech. And truly, this is why it's brilliant. The last time you go back to, like, the 2008 era, I was at that game. Michael Crabtree is on the side. If you watch closely, I'm racing the other way while everyone's running down to where Michael Crabtree scored because I wanted to get the hell out of there. It was one of the scariest places.
B
I heard it's wild Texas.
A
I told you. I show up in Lubbock late the night before on a Friday night before. Before doing college game day radio with. With Rosillo and. And Stanford Steve was our producer. You talk about the roots, that tree. It's like you have the coaching tree. How about the Resillo McShay, Van Pelt, Stanford Steve tree? No one talks about that tree. No, but I show up and there's. There's bloody sheets, and no one's working at the front desk. Come in the next day, and we do a show for, like, eight hours on the radio. And then the sun goes down and it gets cold, and you look up in the stands and taco or tortillas are being thrown, and everyone's got this, like, face paint on. But it's not like Florida State, where it's like, beautiful people and sexy dressing. Like, I've been to Florida State. That's a different kind of. Whoa. This was like. And then all of a sudden, they beat knock off Vince Young in the number one team in the country, and the place goes crazy. And I'm like, literally, like, I kind of want to just get back to the truck and see if I can go back to the hotel. And maybe they got clean sheets. But my point in all this is Craig James son right around that era was the last time nationally anyone was talking about Texas tech. That's, like, 10 years ago, man.
B
Mike Leach.
A
Yeah. And to hear that they're back and to see the game day scene today and to see the excitement and the red smoke and the guns firing and all the stuff and West Texas and foot. West Texas is football. And then you see this sign up like, yeah, man, we're back. We still get. We still get James's kid in our shed. I was like, bravo, bravo.
B
It was smart, man. It was a good callback.
A
Oh, it was a great. All right, what do we. We got? Anything else? Oh, speaking of west west Texas and football, Amarillo wins three way coin flip to land spot in Texas high school playoffs. There was a late night flip held, get this, at the Tootin Totem gas station in Plainview, Texas. Ty caused after Amarillo was forced to vacate six wins due to an ineligible player peak West Texas. Why. Why do I romanticize this so much, man? I know it's like the Friday night lights and read the book and watch the show and the movie, but there's just something so beautiful about a bunch of grown men sitting in a gas station late at night flipping a coin due to vacated wins for an ineligible player. Like, I love it.
B
This might be your worst take of all time. Let me give you the good side of this, okay?
A
To toot.
B
What was it? What was the name of the place.
A
To love that we're gonna meet outside the, you know, right where the Valero is and the, you know, underneath the. The Tootin Totem sign. This is why.
B
This is your worst take ever. Why gas station name 100A. The way the coaches handle this. A plus. Okay, we're gonna. Kids were waiting for a. A a game of odd man out to find out whether or not their high school careers were going to continue. Like, that's. That's what was going on there. Two teams went decide that coin. That little coin toss thing, decided two teams were going home even though they had played well enough to get into the playoff.
A
No, I understand that.
B
So why do we do it that way? There's got to be a better way to have a tiebreaker. And I don't care if we do punt, pass, kick and you each pick a player, but do something other than odd man out in the totem or whatever the place is.
A
But it's west Texas. It has to be at the Toot and Totem.
B
It has to be punt, pass, kick at Tootin Totem.
A
No, you can do that like Pennsylvania and Ohio. Not in west Texas, you can't.
B
You can't send kids home on a coin toss.
A
All right? And then My fine. The final one. Tucker, roll it. This is our guy. ATB is. Is my new nickname. Always trade back. He's been there since the jump and he starts. He actually was pissed. Watch. I think I started the whole thing. Ringer McShay, 13 at you good bench. I got the chat. I got to the chat at 1. Hey, that's on you. ATB. You normally kick things off at noon. It was there for the taking. At one o' clock. He showed up an hour late. There were already four people in there. And his head. We're fired up for some big football today, he said. And look at him. He's kind of grow. 65.3,000 views. Oh, because I'm, I might have retweeted it. I love it. What a great way to start.
B
Not only, not only are there like four people in there, but I mean it's like the, the, the just the chat is rolling through, man. I mean they are not, it's not like they're in there and making a few comments over the course of the game. It's a back and forth thing, man.
A
The, the beauty is any good show with a loyal following. I've noticed this.
B
This.
A
They don't need the show going on to be perfectly content. It's not about us. And I, like, I, I, I say that and I'm perfectly comfortable in my own skin knowing like this is. We help bring him there. But they're there on the show and that's what, that's why I'm telling you at the Senior bowl and at the combine, we are going to find ways to, to celebrate what's going on here. So.
B
All right, very cool.
A
Moving on. And we'll, we'll interact with these crazy folks all night long. I see you have Evan Holly's back in the onions. ATB's rocking and rolling. Joseph rolling a rolling right. Cole Marie's.
B
I feel like she hasn't been here a couple weeks. She's back.
A
Yeah. Yeah. It's good to see you, Cole. Matt Mateus. All right, so we got every. Everyone's in place. Everything's good. Let's get back to the, to the game that we kind of wrapped up, but we had to. I wanted to get the Nuss Meyer thing out before the show reset and started because, like, this really should be about Alabama. This is an Alabama program that was at like this really quick crossroads after Nick Saban decided he's, he's taken off the nil. The change in the culture. It's too hard to do It Nick Saban's way. And I've won. I've won seven championships. It's time to step down, keep an office, CEO style, help find the new guy. And I love the hire. But then you saw all the departures, and you saw the frustration, and you saw the first season and the Jalen Milroe, and it didn't feel like Deborah and it didn't feel like Alabama.
B
Right.
A
And I was worried. You come into year two all right. We're kind of riding the ship and recruiting's going well. Got some transfer portal guys, but then they come out and lose to Florida State. By the way, I picked him to win the national championship, but I feel like. Huh, yeah.
B
Horrible. Right out the gate.
A
I told you. I, I was. I. I was dealing with, like, a summer cold, and I was like, was. Was it medicine? What was I thinking? And then all of a sudden, they start building, and this Ty Simpson guy is real. And I still don't think they have the run game that they need to have. But outside of that, like, the defense keeps getting better.
B
Agree.
A
They've got weapons, and this defense is young. And Deontay Lawson tonight. Good to see Deontay Lawson. Deontay Lawson, last I checked. I'll pull up the numbers here. He. He was like. He had like 10. 10.
B
He had nine.
A
He had 14 total or nine total tackles. Sorry. Nine total tackles. Justin Jefferson, six total tackles. And then. And then you see some of these young guys that, like I talked about before, Yonz Pierre. You see the. The Cornerback, Dijon Lee Jr. 3 tackles. He had that pass breakup against the 6 foot 7 trade as green. There's confidence building, and it was sloppy.
B
Hubbard, man, they didn't recover. But Bray Hubbard ripped another ball out. Man, that guy is. He's one of my favorite players to watch. He's like Jacob Rodriguez from Texas Tech, who we'll talk about later. Yeah, but those guys, you just feel like make plays. Those. You know, they might not be the most talented guy on the field, but they're the heart and soul of their defenses and they go out and just make plays.
A
Plays.
B
Bray Hubard's awesome.
A
You know, one thing I. We didn't mention. I just looked at the total yards, and it brought me to FanDuel this week. Asked me to leave it to fan. Hey, fanduel. I get it. The lights are on because of you. And we are allowed to have this show because of you. And I love our relationship and our partnership together. And I love. @fd, fd, fd sportsbook. Sorry. @ FD Sportsbook. I love it. I use it all season long. I really love it. During the draft, I think you get intel on there that is shockingly helpful. And NFL GMs are using it. So I love FD Sportsbook and I love FanDuel.
B
What's your beef?
A
My beef is I've hit two of the last four four leg five four leg parlays. I just hit another one last week. I'm on an absolute tear and I get a little message from Tucker on like Tuesday mixed in with a bunch of stuff. I could tell he's trying to sneak it in. Hey, for one of your four legs this week we're trying to let everyone know that we're doing the total yardage. So I wanted 11 and a half for the alt line for my four leg parlay. I'm gonna pull the sucker up right now. I'm gonna pull it up right now. And I was terrible, terrible show. Log back in. Here we go. So you wanted.
B
What did you get? Did you get 11 and a half.
A
Or did you get something? I had all I I had Auburn plus eleven and a half. Easy cover. I'd Wake Forest plus eleven and a half.
B
Oh that one.
A
Notre Dame minus nineteen and a half. I brought down the alt line. I didn't even need any of these extra spreads. And then the fourth one was going to be LSU plus 11 and a half. And then Tucker told me I got to do total yards. I was like, you know what? I'm hearing some buzz this week about lsu. I'm feeling maybe this is Nussmeyer's gonna Nussmeyer Simpson. This is his shot to take down one of the Giants from this year. 325. I had it at and they got 33. 233. I want a couple thousand dollars FanDuel. But my point in all of this. Sorry. Oh, and congratulations. You hit on your FanDuel pick of the weekend, as did I. Yeah, we're absolutely rolling. People just don't notice.
B
I I'm learning this is. We're jumping around a little bit here, but I'm learning there's some Ducks fans that were really at least one. Joe dollar on X was pretty upset with me about my, my Oregon take this week and wanted to let me know how well Oregon ran the ball. I was like, man, I've been high on Oregon all year. I just said they were on upset alert this week.
A
I just said this is a tough matchup. And by the way, and by the way, quarterback scramble for a Touchdown. And. And now all of a sudden their season's on. Like on.
B
Yeah, but Joe Dollar wasn't having it. Man, I'm a bad guy.
A
You covered that spread. And I had Wake Forest. I had Wake Forest the get. Wake forest lost by 70 last week to Florida State and they were. It was only six and a half point spread and I get the outright on that. So anyway, my point in all of this was to bring it all back full circle.
B
Is your good at gambling? I got it.
A
My real point was I looked at the total yardage because I was trying to say Alabama actually controlled this football game. Then I noticed LSU finished with 232 and that blew up my four leg parlay. But Alabama had 344 to 232. Alabama only turned the ball over one time compared to two for LSU. Alabama had four more first downs. Alabama only had two penalties. That's a stat line when you got like 110 more yards, one one less turnover, four more first downs, eight fewer penalties. It's normally a more comfortable win.
B
Yeah.
A
Having to kick a field goal to get to 11 late, you know, or.
B
Worry about a busted coverage making this game interesting all of a sudden. You know what I mean? Like it was just. What do we. It should have been much a much bigger spread and it never felt like they were. It didn't feel like they were in danger, but still it was an eight point game late.
A
But yeah, it didn't feel like they were in danger, but they were so right. But this is a rivalry game. This is an LSU program that had an interim head coach which by the way the players and the staff love and yes, Brian Kelly and how all the players and staff maybe, you know. Yeah, so it's just a good win, man, any way you slice it, it's just a good win. It wasn't perfect, it wasn't pretty. Ty Simpson did some really beautiful Ty Simpson things. There were a couple plays he left on the field, but at the end of the day, you know, like I learned more about him as an evaluator tonight and kind of grinding through some tough things, which is always good. 21 of 35, 277 touchdown, no interceptions. It's like, yep, double rate, you know, double in the gap. Not a triple, not a home run. But like we're good, good, good to go here. Another finally. Go ahead.
B
I finally wrote his report and went back and watched every, every past attempt he's had this year. Every drop. To me, I am in love with his mechanics, man. His, his Footwork, his base, even the way you notice how he likes, ducks his shoulder. When they get pressure off the edge, it kind of reduces the surface area, protects the ball. It's all pro stuff, man. His base, the footwork within the pocket, his sense for it, the way he negotiates the pocket. And then when he gets, when he gets outside of the pocket, if he has time, he resets his feet. And if he doesn't and he has to make an off, off platform throw, his upper body is always square to the target, man. He is always square to where he's throwing the ball. I. Mechanically, he's one of the best quarterbacks I've evaluated in a long time.
A
If not, I told you, mechanically and like the inside the pocket stuff. I honestly have to go back to Joe Burrow where I said crazy comfortable. And, and Joe Burrow was on his. In his fifth year but second year as a starter at LSU when I was like, there's something about this guy inside the pocket. Footwork, managing it, toughness, right?
B
Yep.
A
Not a runner. Not like a dynamic threat, but like, but you better, you better account. He's. He's more. I think he's got more juice as a runner than, than Burrow does or did even.
B
I would agree.
A
So, so that's all that. The other thing is like even tonight and not, not the best performance. It was a, a tuned up LSU defense, nine different receivers spreading the ball around. You can look at and say, what's going on with Ryan Williams? I thought he was Jeremiah Smith. Three catches for, for 33 yards. And yeah, I'm mildly concerned.
B
It's.
A
But it's been up and down. We've talked about the drops and I went through every single drop for the last two seasons. It's not. But this isn't necessarily as much about Ryan Williams as it is Ty Simpson's going to. Absolutely. Ty Simpson is your. Is an elite level offensive coordinator playing quarterback. And so it's, it's the play design versus the counter, which is the defensive scheme. And he's. And he's just, he's picking you apart. He's not targeting one receiver, he's not targeting the other. He's got two NFL receivers at least. He's just spreading the ball around. And I want to tell you, Stu. Jeremy, Jeremy Bernard, he had three catches. So what McShay, he was one of a bunch of guys that had three or four catches. Who cares, right? Guys. That guy reeks of the NFL, man.
B
You were, you loved him coming to the year and then you I felt you were like, he's pretty good. I think he's gonna be here. I'm like, man, you're not. Like, keep going with it. Like he. You were right all along.
A
I was.
B
Don't come off it now. Go like, if anything, lean in more. He is an NFL guy.
A
I wanted, I wanted to see, and it's been three or four weeks now where I'm like, I'm all in, all the chips.
B
Yeah, it has been, you're right.
A
But really hot early. Yes, I was really hot. No, I never came off. But I never. But, but I, I was cautious because I don't like to get overly excited. Because I liked him in the preseason, I wanted to see more. Now I'm like, this guy oozes NFL wide receiver, oozes it without a question. He's just always in the right place. Contested catches, contact balance after. But I'm telling you, man, just as I talked about, like, if, if Texas A and M is going to get got and we'll get to them later, it's going to be. Marcel Reed has one of those nights where things are crazy and right. And when you look at like, I don't know with Indiana outside, they just, they run up like we saw today. What could happen against a team, pass rush, defensive talent, that kind of stuff could be bottled up a little bit. And we'll get to Indiana later. We know with Georgia, the defense is not up to Kirby. So all of these teams and Ohio State is simply. Are they as good as we think they are? We're almost positive. We're almost positive.
B
We feel really good about it.
A
But like, can we see them play a couple teams? Because why is it Alabama's having to stack like Georgia and LSU's and this, you know, and, and all these other programs are. And like Vandy and, and. And Ohio State is not, you know, so. But with all of them, there's something where you're like, all right, here we are entering mid November, but there's still this question mark out there with Bama. It's the run game 100% again tonight. 26 combined carries. And a lot of times when you have a stat line like this, 26 combined carries for 56 total yards. A lot of times you're like, well, did Ty Simpson take two really bad sacks? Nah.
B
Right? Nope.
A
No, he didn't. In fact, his. He had four carries for eight yards. They averaged 2.2 yards per carry. Daniel Hill seven for 21, Jam Miller eight for 13.
B
And he had a seven yard run that means that the other six, the other seven runs were for six yards. I mean it's, it was pretty bad. It's a bad, It's a, it's a thing, man. It is a thing. If it's their run game. If you get the, the, if you're a defense coordinator and you're looking at how you're going to get to get this done against Alabama, it's shutting down that run and then it's attacking the right of that offensive line and pass protection with pressures and that's really what you're looking to do and you're hoping that Ty Simpson isn't super superhuman like he has been and the receivers make a couple catches. You have to have all those things kind of come together and that's really what it's going to be. Now it's easier said than done but that's the recipe. That's the formula to do it.
A
I think Oklahoma next week. We got all week to preview it and then they've got Eastern Illinois and then at Auburn for the Iron bowl. And Auburn doesn't show any. Quit now coaching change. Durkin's in. But really this is, this is the one. And I don't know that Oklahoma's healthy enough or, or even good enough if, if, if right enough. But, but this Saturday is like that's the, that's the one. But I, they're still getting in with two losses. So who is?
B
Alabama. Yeah.
A
Yeah. So.
B
Oh yeah.
A
Are we gonna talk about that the, the Vanderbilt, Auburn game?
B
Because if, if not I just want to mention. I don't know if you saw Cam.
A
We're not. So go ahead.
B
Cam Coleman, the receiver for Auburn who is a true sophomore. He's in the same class as the Ryan Williams, the Jeremiah Smiths.
A
He had.
B
They were down 38 30. Auburn was. He had a one handed catch with his left hand reaching around a defender in the end zone to get to bring him within two and then a one handed catch with his right hand for the two point conversion. He's inconsistent, man. But his talent is ridiculous. And again Diego Pavia had a, you know, I, I'm, I, he's not going to win the Heisman, but he had another Heisman type performance today.
A
He was outrageous and I love how you call him Diego until he wins the heism.
B
Yeah, Diego. I can't. I'm so bad. You got to keep calling me out on that stuff too. I got to get better at it.
A
No problem.
B
No problem.
A
I'm not worried about it. 45, 38 was the final in that one. Vanderbilt survives. It's like every week with Vanderbilt is a heart.
B
They look like they're in real trouble.
A
Yeah, real trouble. They looked like they were in real trouble against Texas and it turned out that they were. But this one, they got out of it. All right. So. So moving back on.
B
Yep.
A
I think that's all I wanted to get to. I think that fully covers Alabama and lsu. All right, next up there was. There were a couple good games, but honestly, if I had to say, Todd, what was your. What was the game of the day for you that Indiana, Penn State has to be. Oh, 27, 24 is the final. I want to start with this. Give Penn State a lot of credit. Five in a row they've lost coming in.
B
Right, right.
A
It's. It's not a good scene there. But Ethan Gruckmeyer showed. Showed me something today. And while they weren't dominant, I saw. I, I saw some of the flashes and some of the catches from Singleton and some of the. The tough between the tackled runs from Allen Katron. They combined for 145 yards of total offense today. But in the.
B
That was good to see.
A
But in the end, here's the deal. It was an absolute roller coaster ride for Fernando Mendoza and I know every. Everyone's screaming.
B
Heisman.
A
Yeah, yeah. Heisman. Heisman. Doza. And like I'm not.
B
I don't hate it.
A
I don't hate it. I don't hate it. But you know, let's play it out. You read this stat line though. You're 19 for 32. 18. 1 and 1 one touchdown, one interception. It doesn't tell the story. And just like you said with Jeremy Bernard, I was apparently you think you were first to market Dan Comer editor who by the way, editor and producer and like is. Is everything to this show is more important than you and me.
B
Everything.
A
He and Tucker are the two people who are more. And Conor, they're the three people who are more important to this show than we are. The.
B
No question this would be comically bad without them. Comically bad.
A
And. And Dan's with family right now and. And we. Our prayers and our thoughts go out to he and his family and dealing with. With some stuff that he needs to deal with. And we hope he's back soon but we certainly don't rush him and hope he takes as long as he needs to with his family. But I was saying everyone seems to think they were first to market. Let's just say this show was first to market. Even Pete Thammel. Was going on podcast being like hey, the McShay Show. They're like big time Mendoza. They did a whole breakdown and like no one else has really talked about the. In July, what Fernando Mendoza, you know that he could be a first rounder and then the season starts and all of a sudden it's like this over hype and over correction. Just like the Jeremy Bernard. I'm like let's, let's see and listen. He's not, he's flawed, he's not perfect. But he's also six five, he's 220 pounds. He's mobile. He's got this smooth stroke. Yep. And he's found someone in Kirk's Nettie that has, I mean our biggest about Mendoza from watching him on tape, I remember like going back to my notes, too many turn turnover worthy plays. Like I love all the traits, love some of the aggressiveness, love the, the off script stuff, but it just feels sloppy and there's got to be. He needs someone kind of like Matier, like thrilled that Arbuckle's coming with him from Washington State, but would like someone to be working with him to become a little bit more mechanically sound. So layups are layups and that's what he's gotten with Signetti in this staff a system. And it started off early in the season. Remember, very conservative, a lot of RPOs. Let's, let's, you know, let's take the, the short change, let's get some momentum going. But then I told you like, was it Iowa?
B
Right.
A
I think it was Iowa. It was an ugly win. I learned more ugly win from Iowa than I did that Illinois win where it was like 63 to whatever.
B
Right.
A
He was like 21 of 22. Yeah, it was stupid.
B
21 of 23, five touchdowns.
A
Right. And so I, I felt like I learned more in Iowa. Well, I'm here to tell you today wasn't about that stat line. And I'll tell you another stat line. First nine drives of the game he had 131 yards passing in an interception. Last drive of the game he had 87 yards and a touchdown. I wrote in my notes, I'm learning more today about this cat than I did in a lot of other blowout wins when the stat line was better. Because you know what had, you know what happened to Mendoza today while still working in the structure of the offense. There were moments when Mendoza had to get off script, throw off platform, change his arm angles, go out and do certain, some of those things that we saw him do. A lot of at Cal and so it's not that I didn't know it's still there, but. But watching Mahomes when he got a year behind Smith, Alex Smith, and a year with Andy and learning how to read defenses and all that stuff, and then steps in and you're like, oh, that's everything that was great about Texas Tech, but with refinement. And today was like, oh, I'm starting to get some of that old fun, exciting, creative, extending Mendoza back, but still within the refinement. And the interception was bad and he had like six incomplete passes in a row. And it was like the. All those positive things I was saying about. He's getting a little off script and he's having to create and he's having to do some things and make and utilize those tools that he has, the 6, 5, the 220, the mobility, the. The smooth stroke, the. The big time arm. But has he now forgotten? Like, not forgotten, but. But can he blend those two things beautifully? In that last drive, the 83 yards, the touchdown. It started if you won't. If you don't remember whether it was the first or second throw. He had a wide open receiver running down the, the left, not the rail, but the left hash, left, left numbers. Overshot it. It was kind of more towards like the seam, like between the seam and the sideline and overshot it. Didn't have pressure in his face, but it looked like he felt pressure. Overshot it. And I was like, oh, it has not been a good half. Hope this doesn't end this way in a loss. And then the big time throw and then a couple of. And then all of a sudden that touchdown throw. And it was, my goodness, the best catch I've seen. Omar Cooper Jr. That I've been singing his praises all year long. I know you love him too. He's having the breakout this year and we like Elijah Surat, who wasn't in the lineup today, and all those things, but it takes that throw in that moment, in that placement to give Cooper Jr. A chance to make that play.
B
And well, getting smacked in the face, by the way.
A
Absolutely. Just getting crushed, annihilated. And so I say again, like I did after that, the two ugliest wins they've had this year have shown me the most about Mendoza.
B
Could not agree with you more. He made clutch. He made both of those games. He won at the end. Those were.
A
I mean, I'm sorry, go ahead.
B
No, I mean, you're looking at what we're always looking at, what Quarterbacks are doing at critical points in the game or they got to go out and win the game. And he's shown he can do that twice. He did it against Iowa and he's, he's now done it. He did it today again. So, like, he's, he's, he's shown that he can make plays at critical times when, when the stage is at its brightest, lights are at his brightest.
A
And I need that from quarterbacks. And do you know why? Like in a class, I went through this this week and we did a whole segment on it, and it got a. A lot of people got. Brought a lot of attention. Not negative and positive. I went through a whole thing on. Here's the intel I'm getting. Dante Moore's going back to school. His mom and dad, his agent, coaches, they're all lockstep. He's going back to school. Lenora Sellers needs to go back to school. Pretty sure he will. Might not be at South Carolina. And yeah, there's a Miami lurking out there, but I don't know of anything nefarious going on, any contact that was made. I'm not reporting anything. I'm just saying people are putting dots together and it makes a lot of sense when you just sit back and think about it as a rational human being. And yeah, I see everyone. Someone from Miami's yelling at me and I get people texting me. I won't say who. Well, but they kind of want C.J. bailey. Take C.J. c.J. Bailey. You fucking kidding me?
B
You know how I feel. You know how I feel.
A
Lenore Sellers legitimately is a number one overall draft pick. Talent.
B
Yes.
A
If you can get him to make the jump that Cam Ward made from Washington State to his final year. And you can make Carson Beck while. While it hasn't all been beautiful. Carson Beck. That's the best out of Carson Beck that we've seen. Yeah, I'm not talking about the press conferences after. I'm talking about between the lines on the field. What do you think they'll do with Lenora Sellers? I'm not saying that they're Will Stein. I'm not saying they're Sarkeesian. I'm not saying any of it. I'm just saying there's proof. And now they have a track record.
B
Right.
A
And I also told you that that Matier desperately from scouts desperately needs to go back to school.
B
Right.
A
Skittish in the Arch, probably going to go back. Arch is going back. And so that leaves us, Steve, with two quarterbacks in this class that you're legitimately looking at as first round pick because we just talked about Nussmeier dropping off and club Nick had a massive drop off and all these guys. Yeah, Drew Allerman was never like. And all this stuff. And so then there were two potentially, if all this information is right, then there were two and, and then there were about nine. And maybe the best class in the history of the NFL draft at the quarterback position and wide receiver in the same year. And, and maybe why the jets are like, yeah, take Quinn and.
B
Yeah, maybe.
A
They know, take Terrell Revis.
B
We're gonna stockpile. Yep.
A
We want 20, 27 and an organization that's a disaster in the ownership spot still has hired some pretty good people. Muji, is that right?
B
I don't know.
A
New general manager and Rick Spielman's working there as well. Like there's. And then both those guys were at I think this Indiana game and I said joking around to an executive the other day, I, I wouldn't be mad if they took two quarterbacks, 1 26, 1 27. But my point being if there are just the two, I'm starting to see with both of them and I'm talking about Ty Simpson and Mendoza. Mendoza and I, and, and again, I didn't, I didn't get any intel. This whole, all these sheets of paper, no intel on Simpson. And I actually do think he's going to go back to school. I think Alabama is going to pay him really well. I think he's a coach's son. I think he believes in the development. I think that Ryan Williams happens to be one of his best friends in the world. He's got a couple other friends that are big time players. So let's see how the, the season plays out. But if it is Ty Simpson and it's Mendoza, I'm start. I'm seeing third downs, two minute drills, clutch moments. Right.
B
Yeah.
A
Most critical aspects in my opinion, the arm strength, the mobility, the height, all those things. But like what do you do with all those traits when it matters the most? And so it's exciting to see with those two and it's not an exciting class of quarterbacks all of a sudden. And if Simpson's back at Alabama next year, which I, which I would say is better than 50 50. If FanDuel has an odd on that I would, I would bet on he's returning. And so maybe it's just Mendoza, but at least now I'm starting to see all this talent that I loved in this preseason and you loved in the Preseason but we had reservations about it's not because what here is my while every other draft. What do you call them? The Twitter mafia Draft Mafia Draft mafia is so quick to always number one overall and he probably will be.
B
I have my question.
A
I care more about the process. I care more about the process and I, I'm not going to stamp something until I see okay, is this just Signetti and we've got really tight chains on him and I know the traits are there but like how big is the growth going to have to be from year one to year two or from final year in college to the NFL because he's coming from the system that really like they had to bottle him up and make him very rigid. And I'm starting to see parts of that Iowa game and in this game and so the stat line isn't beautiful but my gosh, I saw more shit today and I'm excited. I promise you what our tape trues on Monday morning. I'm. I'm call. I'm taking Mendoza as one of my five.
B
Go for it.
A
You get the next pick.
B
People listen when I talk about him. I think people think I'm a hater. And, and I, and I have reservations about him being first overall and I can say those things in the, in the same breath of saying I'm really impressed with some of the throws that he makes and I'm really impressed the way that he was against Penn State today in that last drive and I'm really impressed the way he was against Iowa in the last drive especially because when you look at those games specifically both of those defenses really tried to heat them up. I mean they really got after him. They were free runners and he was getting hit and it's at a big point in the game and he's still making plays. I have all the respect in the world for him. He's got five interceptions in his last six games. He does get streaky. I still have concerns about him when he has to come off his first read. There are still some things that are there. And then I'm watching tape on Arvell Reese, the, you know, the edge slash linebacker from Ohio State and we'll see what he decides to do after this year and we'll see what everyone else decides to do. But there are other players that I think I might consider at the first overall pick ahead of him. I'm not sure this is going to be a draft where necessarily a quarterback has to go first overall. But that being said, I also think Mendoza's put himself in the driver's seat for the Heisman. And he's had an outstanding season and I think he's a great player. You know, I just think you got to temper some of the. Some of the excitement and some of the positivity here when you're looking at him as a draft prospect, as a college football player. Let's go. I mean, it's unbelievable what kind of season he's having in Indiana's on an absolute role.
A
Cole Marie. I'm not good. I've taken enough shots of people in the last few weeks. I've promised, promised Marissa and everyone else in my life. I'm gonna go easy unless I'm absolutely forced into the corner. But I appreciate your comments. Atb, he made the comment of he's not that much better than Rourke. Atb, I love you. Always trade back, but come on.
B
Not having it ATV. He's not having it tonight.
A
Garrett 3 Fitzgerald says Sigs will just go out. If Mendoza leaves. Sigs will just go out and take that Cal lefty freshman boy. That would be it. That would be a kill. And I told you some of the cat.
B
Cornell, Bryant, 947. Ty Simpson in New Orleans. I kind of like that fit with Kellen Moore. I kind of like. I kind of like what you're getting there.
A
I actually do. I see that as a fit.
B
That's not a bad fit.
A
And I love Tyler Shuck, but we'll see. Okay, I do want to say before we leave this game, this is a. That was a dangerous Penn State team. It. They. They threw a lot at Ohio State and remember they were only down by three at the half. I think it was to Ohio State and it just wasn't enough. So to bounce back the way that Penn State did and to put another effort like that and arguably even a little bit better. Maybe it's just one more start from. From. From Grunk Meyer was impressive, but also impressive was. And for some reason, I guess because people just didn't. What was the spread in this? Like 17 or something? I guess people just didn't.
B
Was it that high? I'm pretty sure I'd even look at it. Wow. I'm surprised by that.
A
I'm pretty sure.
B
I mean, I really liked Indiana in that game. That spread seems really high.
A
I mean, I'll find it for you right now. It was. I mean, I'm going to give you the neighborhood right now. Oh, no, you're right. It was 13 and a half. Okay. Anyway, so. But for whatever reason, when. When a team that doesn't have a ton of NFL guys, although they. They're gonna. Indiana's gonna have more players drafted this year, or 20, 26, I should say, this upcoming draft than in my lifetime in a single draft. And they had more last year than they've had. I. I did that over the summer more last year than they did in like a couple decades with just like three or three or four or whatever it was. So. But when Elijah Surratt doesn't play, and that's not like big, big news, that's surprising to me. And so Surat's not in and out, you look up an Omar Cooper, and I want to put. Omar Cooper didn't put it. He had the. The catch of the year. He's. And I wish we had video. We don't have video. And so there's only so much we can do with it. But anyone who watched the game, and if you haven't watched the game, you've seen it on social media or wherever you. You ingest your highlights, it was almost not humanly possible. It was almost not humanly possible to get one of those feet in, but especially the back foot without the front foot. I mean, it defines two feet.
B
I didn't see two feet.
A
It wasn't.
B
I saw one foot.
A
It was one. It was okay. But all. That's all that matters. But my point is. Oh, yeah, so you think you said, all right, well, Cooper's going to step up and have a monster day. And then you see that catch you like. Oh, Cooper, he was awesome today. Yeah, he was. Because he made that catch. Outside of that catch, folks. Was that a 22 yard touchdown catch?
B
Yeah. Was it that? I don't know if it was that.
A
Whatever.
B
You know what? I can find it. What? I don't know why I'm saying that. I'll find it right now.
A
Without that, he had five catches on the day for like 20 yards.
B
Seven. That was a seven yard catch.
A
Okay, so without that catch, he had no touchdowns. Five catches for 25 yards. And you're saying, Todd, would you land this plane, please? You keep dancing around where you're trying to go. My point is Sarat's out. Cooper has a poor day by his standards. Before that last catch, who's going to step up and my spotlight player of the day. Because if this guy. And yes, the catch and the Mendoza and all the moments, but if this guy, Charlie Becker doesn't have the day, he has. Indiana's got a loss. This whole thing's in turmoil. The Big Ten is Kind of feeling like, oh, you know. Yes, it felt really good to have two teams at the top. Undefeated. Becker comes in with seven receptions for 157 yards and a touchdown in the first eight games of the season. Steve, today he has seven for 118. Six foot four, two hundred and ten pounder. You talk about Sig just identifying talent and a guy who's an ex receiver in case the Rock goes down all of a sudden. Here we go.
B
Yep.
A
And they had receivers last year and they lost a couple to the NFL and just graduation, they're just rolling guys in and they're not the five stars. They're like like this show. They're not all five stars. So I, I just wonder if like, like if they have an undefeated season or go in this magical run or win the national championship. Like you're gonna look back when they're our age, be like, remember back that time, man, it's Penn State. And by the way, first time ever in program history they won at Happy Valley, I think, right?
B
Yes, that's correct. Yes.
A
And this kid, this Cat Becker, who had seven catches for his for first eight games a season has seven today. That's team football. I just love that if, if Cooper Jr.
B
Catches a slant and it's a routine touchdown. The catch that we're all talking about after that game is the 17 yard catch that Charlie Becker had before that where he was down along the left sideline and somehow got his feet in. I mean there was on that drive, there was two incredible plays by those receivers. And Becker's catch, It was with 151 left in the fourth. 17 yard catch. It was an unbelievable play by him.
A
I'm cured. Tucker, we can come back to this. Can you find updated Heisman Odds on FanDuel while we're doing this? And I'm going to throw this out to the chat and we're playing one man down tonight. And that's totally fine because our guy deserves to be where where he is. And we love Daniel and wish him the best and he and his family thoughts and prayers are with him. But I don't think we have the capability right now. Maybe we do. To throw up a poll. I'm curious if it's not Mendoza. All these folks in the chat are rocking and rolling tonight. Take a minute, let us know who do you think it would be? And as I say that, I'm asking you, Mensch. Someone else out there, Julian saying is the name that's been thrown out. Right? Okay. I'm curious too. Like, does Ty Simpson get in the conversation because how about Jeremiah Love?
B
I mean, Jeremiah Love needs.
A
I was stalling to get there because I'm surprised. I saw a couple big runs today. Apparently 13 carries for 94. What do you have receiving then? Because he had some big. 13 for 94 and two touchdowns, one for 27. I guess because I wasn't watching that game that was going on simultaneously with, with Alabama, LSU and in my house. If Clemson's on. Clemson's one of the four boxes. And tonight I honestly, I lost my. I lost my. The first floor of my house. Cause I got the four kids downstairs watching Clemson, Florida State. I'm like, guys, that's like a combined record of 6 and 11 or whatever. 12. And they're like, yeah, go beat it, old man. Go upstairs to your office. So I did. I wasn't.
B
But I've only had one catch for 27.
A
27 yard catch and the two touchdowns. But he's having an awesome year and Notre Dame's relying a lot on him after the very slow start to the season.
B
Right.
A
And it was the 24 for 228 against USC and it was a 17 for 136 against BC, you know, so. But I don't think it's enough at the running back position to overcome some of this, this quarterback stuff.
B
I don't either. I think he goes to New York. But I think you're right. I don't think he's. He's. I don't think he's got a real shot of winning it.
A
Right. Tucker, don't. I know I messed with you last week on the, on the chat, Tucker, but I as I made up. I hopefully made up for it this week. Explaining how much I love Tucker not only as a. Like he's the best at what he does, but he is a wonderful human being truly. But back to the best. He's. He's the best of what he does. Like how quick was that Julian saying Ohio State plus 160. So he's. He's still the lead. We'll see if this changes tomorrow, right? Mendoza's plus 175. Ty Simpson is plus 450. Then Marcel Reed, Pavia and Stockton are kind of way on the outside looking in. 700 2000. 2000.

A
Yeah, and I'm not the biggest. Like, like I love the Heisman. Towards the end of the year, I don't like spend a lot of time on it, but I was just curious because everything, every show I popped in and out of, it was like. It was Heisman Doza, right?
B
Yeah.
A
Our chats. Yeah. And Tucker's saying the chat's on Mendoza. Let me pull that back up. Oh, you feel like Tucker. Tucker stepping up. No wonder why you can't show his pretty face on this show. He's too busy. He's right. Oh. Who would you vote for? Okay. If I told you, say in love Mendoza Reed.
B
Say in love Mendoza Reed.
A
Forget what it is. Forget I have a Heisman vote.
B
Yep. See, can you say or do you have.
A
I can share who I'm leaning towards right now. Can I ask you something else? Share what? Whom the winner is.
B
When do you have to submit your vote by? Is it after the conference championship or before?
A
A lot of. Submit it before. But you're allowed to after the conference championship. I always do it that Sunday.
B
But though how do you not wait?
A
I've been traveling on Sunday, man. They will track your ass down. How do you do it?
B
Is it an email?
A
It's changed over the years, but now it's a. It's like a. It's a. It's a. It's almost like logging into like an app, you know, it's a.
B
Do you get a VPN and you gotta put in your eyes like a visual.
A
There's like three. There's three steps. You get two separate emails in case someone hijacked one of the emails. It's. It's top secret. They don't mess around.
B
I bet it is, man.
A
And I appreciate that. But I don't appreciate people who vote before championship weekend because like get every data point anyway. Yeah. Honestly, I think saying as when it plays out after the conference championship could very likely be the guy that I wind up voting for if he continues this.
B
Yeah.
A
I think Mendoza right now maybe you'd make an argument has been a slightly more important for Indiana. Although I just feel like it's so much of a team deal with them. I think Ty Simpson, if you're really truly drilling down the most important player valuable player, there's a path and there's a path for him. So those would be my three right now with. With. I want Jeremiah Love there because he deserves it.
B
Yeah, I. I love Ty. I think he's been a little inconsistent the last two games, but there is a path for him to get to win this thing.
A
All right, let's move it forward. Oregon, Iowa. Man. Let me start with this. I spent a lot our Jim Reed, our former coach at. At University of Richmond who by the way reached out to me this past week.
B
That's awesome.
A
He's have. He's dealt with some health problems and I don't want to over indulge here but. But Jim is. Jim Reed was one of those coaches where it really don't like playing for him at times and I think he's just fine with that. But you grow to appreciate him after a lot. And then I hear the stories behind certain things with me personally and like so I've developed a friendship with Coach Reed. Yeah, he reached out and I'm not good but a lot of days in the hospital. The great memories of the players, great family guys that coach and he. He just wanted to let us know that he loves following our draft analysis and Seuss's podcast.
B
Yep.
A
And then talk to me about my. How my grandfather would be proud. So you know, just emotional stuff. But Jim was there. Coach Reed was there at Iowa Coach with Ferenc Coach Ferris and. And I just. I always love my trips there, man. I love the people there. It's an underrated town for, like, nightlife and food and fun and the. Honestly, like, when you're. As a sideline analyst. And one of the scariest moments of my life was an upset win over Ohio State Urban Meyer squad. And I'm on the field and Greasy and Levy are throwing down to me and I'm getting trampled, and someone actually threw all the TV cords and everything, snapped their leg in half, and I'm. It was a mess. But that, that fan base, because of the stadium configuration is closer than any other, and Oregon's pretty close. But nothing's like Kinnick, and it's a pain in the ass when you're working the sidelines like I was, and I was going. I probably did 50,000 steps a night, whatever it was. I would work all around and, like, hang out in the end zones and make a run, and you can't really get behind them. So you. So you got to get to know the coaches because then you got to kind of sneak through there. But the fans were wonderful, and I just. I have a special place in my heart for them. And I also want to tell you this. When you sit down on your Friday meetings with certain coaching staffs, when you're done, you have great appreciation for some because you go someplace and they're used car sales and you go other places and they're. They're scattered. You go other places and they're big business. You walk in with Nick, Nick's going to give you your time. And by the way, some of the most insightful things that my time sitting in a room with. With Nick Saban, like. But it's a big business. And when Notre Dame comes in and it's Brian Kelly and Brian and I, I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. Brian and I have been close over the years, but it's, it's. It's patrolmen and it's very serious and the security, you know, so. But you walk in there, man, it's like, come on, sit down. Just. Let's back off and let's just talk ball. And let me tell you stories about these players and how and what they've done to get to work and what we've asked them. So I've always held a special place in my heart. And I know, like, Kirk gets railed on, he can only do so much, but, yeah, like, think about the prospects they're getting. So to watch Iowa today, in that spot to come out. And I have such like sitting down with Norm Parker, the defensive coordinator, and getting to hear like how his brain works and how recruit he recruits certain things to play that zone scheme, to be able to tackle, to be able to angles and discipline and. And to watch it all beautifully come together against a pretty good Oregon team. And for them to just get Iowa in November weather. And that was a gift for them.
B
Yeah.
A
And then to see this quarterback that they bring in from FCS who did a lot of winning, but just can't seem to throw the ball the way they hoped he could because no quarterback can at Iowa for some reason. And all the things. And I'm not ever pulling for anyone, but I've just. When. When he ran it in there for the touchdown and they're up with like just under two minutes left. I'm like, my goodness, I'm so happy for the people inside Kinnick and for everyone involved in this program, coaches on down. But I don't feel good about this. And sure enough. But I just wanted to say that, like, that they work so hard. They do all the right things. They're everything that's good and still true about college football. And so they did everything so well. But the story to me in this game, the Oregon Run game, man.
B
Yeah.
A
And the patience that Will Stein had with the Oregon Run game. And in part because his quarterback wasn't dealing and in part because it looked like his quarterback hurt a hamstring or something.
B
They were beat up, man. They didn't have Kenyans to take a tight end. They didn't have Decor and Moore. They lost someone else early, Gary Bryant.
A
And, and, and biggest part, they didn't have their weapons around them. And don't forget they lost their star wide receiver, Evans, Evan Stewart. Right.
B
Early in the year. Yeah.
A
No, in the season.
B
Yeah.
A
In the preseason.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah. So they're down three potential first round draft picks as their targets. And against Iowa, you want, when you're Oregon, you got those flashy helmets and Nike involved and the speed and the west coast, you want to come in there, spread them out and be like, you just can't run with us.
B
Right.
A
But they couldn't. And so I'm watching all that and I'm like, stein's got to stay patient with it, but it's hard to do that. And some coordinators would not have been as patient because I still got my guy at quarterback. But he did and he stayed patient.
B
Right.
A
And that throw, trailing 16, 15, that throw by Dante Moore, that's the other going back to school and he should go back to school and he's not ready. And the longer he plays this year, the more you can see he needs more. But that throw, man, when you had.
B
To have it, when they had to have it, they got it was.
A
It was one part onion, Steve. But it was a lot of. A lot of parts. Like nine parts. Just pure passing, brilliance, talent, anticipation, knowing the exact, exact spot and hitting it. Not many guys can that throw and have the. The Kuyans to do it.
B
Not many guys can make that throw at a Wednesday practice, let alone in the fourth quarter on the road in Iowa coming down and everyone's hurt and you know, everyone's been questioning your offense and everyone wonders if this Oregon team is really as good as we thought they were after losing the Indiana. I mean, think about all of those things. I know that's not all going through his mind, but again, it's a tough throw to make in practice on Wednesday, let alone in those situations.
A
Flying Hawaiian 2756. He saw onions too. He knew it. And no. And no Cornell Bryant. We're not on Netflix right now. We'll give you a heads up, brother. So, yeah, that was awesome. You were yelling at Gary Danielson and tell. Tell folks why you were yelling at him.
B
Wait, I forget what I said in the chat. Was he. Oh, because they were. It was the two point conversion, right?
A
Yes.
B
Yeah, the two point conversion that they called inbounds at first and was like just clearly out of bounds.
A
A four man. Oregon can't be in a four man.
B
Oh, I wasn't mad about Gary for that one. Oh, but I can't believe, I cannot believe that when Iowa spread. It was. Listen, when Ira Iowa went with that spread set for the, for the touchdown. That is not going to be a pass. Like you don't need to play pass there. That's them trying to create space for that quarterback draw. That's what they do with him. I mean he's like 11 rushing touchdowns, I think. And Iowa had four guys in the box.
A
Like, what are we doing?
B
Like, you can't, you can't have four guys in the box and try to double receivers on the outside. You've got to make him throw that ball and prove that he can throw that. I thought that was a brutal defensive call. I don't know what they were doing there, but that was way too easy for the quarterback draw to get in. Dude, I was mad at Gary because he was trying to. They're, they're showing the replay in the Iowa receiver off the tip pass who tried to make a play. It wasn't his fault, but it's like standing clearly in the white and. And Gary's like, did he slide out? No. I mean, it was just a bad call. That ref made a bad call from the jump.
A
But I thought. And I hear you, and I love when you start to get chirpy.
B
It wasn't even close, though. It was like, what are we doing here?
A
And I. And I. I would. By the way, UCLA just scored. It's 2820 extra point pending. I just had an epiphany while watching this new Heisel's son who's like, you know, the media darling and should be. And that was awesome. The Penn State and Nico. And I got a scout telling me this week, go put on the last three tapes from Nico. Emi Maliava. Because this dude does things that a lot of the other guys can't. And you keep talking about Dante Moore and Lenora Sellers and maybe Ty Simpson and Mattier and maybe even Mendoza and Arch and Julian saying and Lagway and all these other guys. But. But Nico might be able to do a lot of. A lot of things that those guys are. Some things that those guys can't do. So with that as the backdrop, I'm just watching and had an epiphany. I think someone's got to tell New Heisel, the crazier hair, the surfer hair. He's too. That's the problem. And now it looks like the headset right now.
B
Yeah.
A
Like, I think he's got a little too Hollywood. Like, we're gonna need it. Just like we need you fresh off of like Laguna beach or wherever you're rolling in from. And it's kind of a messy day. More mad scientists than. Than cover a gq. And that will get the offense rolling. And you still have several minutes left in this game. It's a close game. Actually a very interesting game for a late night snack. So it's 28, 21 right now. Where. What was I. What was I talking about? Oh, talking about all those. No, what was I talking about?
B
I don't even know what you got distracted by Nico.
A
We were talking about Gary Danielson. Gary Danielson had. I think he perfectly described it in one line. And that's what has made him one of the. The greats. Whether you like him now or you don't and all that stuff. He had a quote that I wrote down. And I never do this in the history of our show. I don't Think I've ever done this? I wrote this down describing Iowa, Oregon. That was a bare knuckle football game until the last two drives. Yeah, it was. And I just pictured that jumped out to me too. Went in the alley and like, I don't need. I don't need hatchets. I don't need. I don't need. We don't need gloves. We're not going in a ring. I don't need a knife. I don't need guns. I don't. I just. You and me with these two versus yours. And that's what it was. It was ugly and like in the hits weren't there, but they were. They hurt and it was physical and it was sloppy and there was nothing like explosive about it. But those last two drives, all of a sudden it was like, let's get out of here with the win. I do want to say this.
B
They gutted it out, by the way, and that's all that matters. They found a way to get it for Oregon, like, and that's a good Iowa team, man.
A
I said it. I said Noah winning. Whittington. I did one of my ten truths four or five weeks ago, whatever it was, on no Whittington. I think this is the point we're turning and that. And that's exactly what he's done. So I'm, I'm proud of that in that I, I saw the fit and he just is an Oregon back and he's the veteran and he's the old. He's the gray beard of the group. And that you always want your leader to be the experienced one, but also the guy who has enough talent to hold down the fort. He's done that. But this Jordan Davison's got tools, man. And Dear Hill, it's got tools. And I don't know, I love Hill. Those three guys, man, it was like the big runs and critical times and good they found Oregon has. And I think today was helpful confidence boost. Right. We can do that against that Iowa defense.
B
Yeah.
A
What'd they finish with, Mensch?
B
261 yards on 36 carries.
A
Yeah. Iowa. Yeah.
B
The 46 yard or the 49 yard. Scramble for more. You know, Bump set up a little bit obviously, but still they were really good. And. And hats off that offensive line for buckling up their chin straps and saying, you know, we're gonna. They. Oregon essentially won this game in the trenches. Their. Their defensive line was tough and strong enough to withstand, you know, Iowa's 43 carries.
A
Steve, they were giving up 83 Iowa was giving up 83.9, 10th best in the FBS.
B
Right. I think we're 10th best at the end of the day.
A
That's absurd what they did.
C
Yeah.
A
So. So you feel really good about that. And this is a confidence boost in this.
B
Hopefully ran well against Wisconsin too. Yeah. They. The run game is there now. That's the.
A
The silver lining and backs there. But now you got to get your freshman receiver back because. Because your veteran Stewart's not. Not. He's out for the year. And it was just enough I said this. The thing when I did the early report on Dante Moore is I love Decorian more and he's. And he's gonna. He's gonna be that guy. The guy that we think he might be like I truly believe he's going to be. But he's a pup. I worry that some. He looks a little lean and now we're seeing some durability stuff and I just don't feel like they got another guy. And then I'm talking to a scout this week and this is I'm going to hit you with this. And I kind of alluded to it. There's frustration with Kenyon Sadiq and there's quotes like, you know, love the way he showed up and the things he did. Effort wise and. And toughness and leadership when he was tight end too. Remember because they had a draft pick last year.
B
Yeah.
A
Now is tight end one. They didn't say the word diva, but all the things they were saying felt like, you know, why isn't he practicing today? Like, is it that bad? Is he protecting himself for the NFL? Did he hear all those people talking about first round. He's tight end one. And. And kind of the messaging back to. To me was from the scout I talked to. How many targets does he have, Bud, before everyone goes anointing him tight end one. He's a better blocker at this point. And which is a weird. And we were discussing this on our conversation on our call. It's weird to be like I really wish this guy would just battle through and shows leadership and be consistent and be. But then you watch him on tape and like this is a nasty, tough son of a.
B
Right.
C
Right.
A
So that doesn't add up.
B
Right.
A
Because the physical play in the blocking game, you would think, oh, this guy's showing like he's a lunch pail guy. But there's a reason they're not targeting him that much. And I don't have the target numbers nor do I care to look it up. Right. Now, people can look it up if they want, or they could just trust the fact that for a guy that is a tight end, one think about Colston Loveland and his target percentage and his market share, if you will, think about Tyler Warren and his, what, 18 catches against USC and records. Yeah, but when you got a guy like that and you lose an Evan Stewart in the preseason, why isn't he getting this guy? Yeah, so just something, something to file away as we get down to the stretch run here. And, and if, if he's not showing up as a, as a receiver, I'm telling you why right now. Okay. And the second part is, and a lot of it too is, hasn't developed as a route runner. Thought he would be more advanced. Like he's not, it's just he's not separating naturally, you know, with the things he could be doing. And then when we get to the NFL draft, if it's, well, there's another guys or he's not going inside. So I'm just, I'm just kind of letting people know what's actually going on behind the scenes. So while all a lot of great things from this Oregon win and a lot of positives about the run game and the, the defense, to a certain degree, that's something that is a concern down the stretch for Oregon. All right, we got to keep rolling.
B
I thought the defense was good, by the way, other than that call, that defensive call. I mean, they gave up seven there, but they also gave a 50 yard field goal. They played pretty well today, man.
A
You know who really showed up today too? Who's that? And I'm. Listen, you know, I'm a Home Depot guy, right? And. All right, so it's time, it's time to get into a special segment of the show. It's called home Home field Advantage. It's brought to you by our friends at the Home Depot, the place to build your dream game day setup on your own home field.
B
Right.
A
Whether it's the tailgate, your backyard or your living room. If you think creating a home field advantage isn't important, why don't you go to Lubbock, Texas? And we touched on Lubbock earlier and it had been since 2008. But like when I think of home field and the importance and I think of college football and West Texas, like Lubbock has been starved for this. And yeah, they had Mahomes and he absolute legend and what he's given back to that program and showing up in game day today. And I'm sure the financial and wearing the Homes Ice jerseys and all that. But honestly, it's about West Texas and loving your football. And when you go to that town, there's literally nothing else besides oil rigs going and Red Raider football. And to watch those Fans at noon 11am local from their 4am the night before and to watch this coaching staff and how they've embraced all of it and, and, and the players embracing it with the, with the students and there's just something going on in Lubbock right now, man. And yeah, cynics can say, well, great, yeah, fine with your Home Depot comp, if I had 3 million, I could go do an awesome home renovation. And Texas Tech.
B
Seven million for that defensive line, by the way. Seven million.
A
Seven million, yes. Seven million for the defensive line. I get it. But there's also a culture going on and that when we talk about home field advantage. So I wanted to get into this, this game we bought in early on Texas Tech. I was a skeptic. And then we did the tape and I said, this defense is different. This defense has got NFL guys all three levels, but especially the front level. But then they had the quarterback situation and, and, and we became Will Hammond guys and Baron Morton is, is susceptible. And then he got nicked up and Hammond came in, then Hammond got beat up. So all those things. But this defense is going to travel and that's a BYU team that's on offense and they're not overly creative and they, they win by running the football. And then a running back who was valiantly playing. I told you he's going to be a draft pick and you can see some of the flashes, but he's just, he's grinding with his shoulder and a sling and all of that. But my goodness, being at home with that defense in that scene. Couldn't beat it today. That was a huge win. 8 vs 7.
B
Even though the Big 12 is trying to handcuff him. I think it's the Big 12. You heard about the tortilla situation, right?
A
Yeah.
B
If they throw tortillas, they not only get fine, now they get a penalty. It's actually, it's something that I've thought about. If they get into a tight game at home and a tortilla gets thrown and it's a, I mean it. Only in college football, only, you know, in West Texas. Is that where they are? West Texas, like, only. Only could this happen where tortilla could affect a national championship run for a football team.
A
Well, it's not people in West Texas, it's people. It's it's somewhere else.
B
No, I mean they won't let them throw their tortillas. Like it's just, it's like me building.
A
My outdoor shower and liking to walk around naked a little bit and sorry for the mental image here at, at 1223 but like if I'm going to put, if I'm going to put my blood and sweat and tears into a project, you damn right. As the owner of this home, I'm going to walk around naked and I'm going to piss where I want to piss. Sometimes you got to let the onions breathe.
B
You got to let the breathe, man.
A
No one the Home Depot's not calling in and throwing a penalty on me or finding me. So it is no right.
B
They're getting handcuffed.
A
They are getting handcuffed. I don't like it but I do like what they got going on there. Why don't you. I've talked too much as always. What do you got on this game? And then I want to finish with some something.
B
I think David Bailey was worth every penny they are paying that man. I think that when you look at how he impacts, how he impacts the game as a pass rusher is, is the first thing you're going to talk about because it's the most important thing. How he was against the run today was outstanding. And then you always want your best players to have the, the greatest motor. And this dude's non stop. I mean he's just got a non stop motor. I'm impressed with, with, with Bailey. I think that again every, every penny he's worth it. And that defense is awesome. And Jacob Rodriguez you highlighted on. Was it on the, on rough draft? I think it was, yeah. Just awesome again today.
A
Interception. Every game. Every game. Get me the ball one time please.
B
And then he pops the Heisman pose. It's just awesome.
A
Oh yeah, it's just.
B
He's just awesome. I will say on the flip side, the Baron Morton hell situation is concerning. Especially now that Will Hammond's out with a torn ACL for the year. They don't have the safety net that we thought that they had earlier in the year. And hats off to how tough he is because you can tell that, that I guess it's a hairline fracture in his leg. I can't imagine playing with a hairline fracture in my leg. I can't imagine walking, you know, a mile with a hairline fracture in my leg, let alone what this guy's doing. It is concerning for them going forward and it's going to be interesting to see how that plays out. But again, they. They got their money's worth with Bailey. And Jacob Rodriguez is an absolute dude.
A
I touched on this the other day, just watching him today, and I haven't watched the tape. And by the way, Cole, Maria, I appreciate you understanding. She's.
B
She.
A
She said if we're off the rails. I had to apologize to her on the chat and think about the. The females in our audience. But she. She likes. She likes that we're, you know, we've completely lost our mind. And she said not safe for work. McShay is my favorite. McShay. Yeah. Why not? I mean, it's almost 1 in the morning, right? Reuben Bain's an awesome player. Keldrick Falk is an awesome player. Miami and Auburn, respectively, both projecting the top 10 pass rushers get paid. Getting home as a pass rusher is the most important thing at the second most important position in football in the National Football League behind quarterback. Nobody does it better than David Bailey. And today was just another reminder. And it wasn't the sack stuff as much as it was pressures. And it was hustling the ball and it was tackles for loss and it was. It was sealing off edges. The guy felt like that first drive match that first drive, literally from the first play of scrimmage, like, hey, I'm excited today. I get to buckle. It's noon, right? I get to hunker down and watch a little Big 12 football. Haven't been able to do enough of that this year.
B
Game day, most important Big 12 game. And I don't even know how long, honestly.
A
Yeah, maybe. Yeah, honestly. Long time since Oklahoma and Texas were there, probably, right? Literally the first play from scrimmage, pressure forces the ball out, like, in a flash. Whoa. You got Bach Meyer, like, whoa.
B
Yeah, he's. Oh, that guy.
A
Two or three plays later, whatever. It was tip ball. That's in the first series. What I wrote down here. Oh, yeah. And then I just went on all the different. I was going down through my notes of different things that I saw from him in the game. And then it was. It was hustle play from behind. It was. It was. It was working down the line of scrimmage. It was flying to the ball. It was explosive contact upon hitting. All these things that you look for. And Nebraska held on 28, 21, by the way. I told you it was. I mean, you got. You gotta blame. I give credit where credit's due, Nebraska, but I'm blaming the hair. We've got to slop that thing up and get back in the lab. Wrong with you a lot of things.
B
By the way, I'm gonna, I'm gonna push back because this is what happens. This is what happens on Saturday. I love Bailey. He's one of the top two pass rushes in this class. And I am terrified by the sample size. But Ohio State's Arvell Reese is a unique cat as a pass rusher. Man, he is a little more. The, the one thing about Bailey that I worry about is that. And I saw this in the Arizona State game when I was watching the other days that, you know, we talk about that bend without losing your balance. Billy's got amazing shock in his hands. Like, it.
A
I.
B
For a guy who's not that big, he plays big. He's an amazing shock in his hands, and he works everything off of that. And he's got a devastating spin move that he works in, and he has really great instincts as a pass rusher. All of those things are true for him. I love his tape. Arvl Reese is different. He can win. He can win in every which way. And the sample size is small, but the win rate is outrageous. I mean, outrageous how good he is. So I think I, those are two of my favorite players to watch.
A
I guess my point is we're in November, and I, I, I can't stand when everyone's like, this is, this is the truth. Like, this is over. I'm telling you, there are people in the league that have been on the road for eight plus weeks who think I might. I'm probably gonna. I'm, I'm, I'm taking Bailey over. Bane, I'm taking Bailey over. I need guys.
B
I got Bailey in the top 10 right now.
A
So my question to you is, and I know my answer, but for you, is it asinine that Bailey's the first edge rusher off the board?
B
I have Bane. I have bane with a 92. I have Falk with the 91, and I have Bailey with the 91. Is Bain Jr. At 4, Bailey at 9 and Keller at 8. I mean, that's. No. So, no, it's not right now. I think there is. Bane is slightly ahead of all both those guys. But to say that it is at Asinine. Absolutely. It is absolutely not. I mean, they are all top 10 players in my mind. And, and we'll see how it sorts itself out. There's a, like you said, there's a lot to go here. I mean, I know it feels like it's late in the season, but there's A lot to figure out still.
A
And I think Romello Heights gonna wind up being a second day pick and I think those three defensive tackles that they rotate are all going to be draft picks either 26 or 27.
B
Yep.
A
I think there are three guys drafted at interior defensive line in 26 and 27 combined. That's five guys up front that are going to be draft picks in the next two years from that defensive line. And yeah, it cost them 7 million but if you're going to spend money, spend it wisely and. And that's exactly what they did.
B
It's called investing.
A
So for Texas Tech and, and I know people don't like love going into but like get used to it because this is. And we'll get to the. The TMS top 12 in a little bit to finish out the show as we always do on Saturday night. But. Oh shoot. I'm just looking up Texas Tech right now. What do we got left? We're nine and one. Six and one. The conference top team from the, from the Big 12. Obviously we're going to be sitting there at. It's seven. Not to spoil alert but we're not getting higher. But, but we're not. But seven, seven in the country are going to be ranked on Tuesday night when we do that. When they do the reveal show.
B
Yep.
A
And they've got UCF and West Virginia left.
B
It's going to take a major meltdown, a major overlooking for them not to win those two games.
A
Yeah.
B
And then you'd like them against whoever they're going to get. I mean who is.
A
And I'll be honest with you, we have to have a representative from the Big 12 and it's not. Don't take that the wrong way. There's only going to be one representative from the Big 12 and we've known that for a while. I do think the Big 12 is a little bit better than people think. But that's still not. It's not the sec, it's not the Big Ten and that's understandable. I've. I've wanted since about week four that it is Texas Tech because when in. Because when in a tournament setting they are the team that they're the best team, period. They're the team because of that defense that scares me the most. They're the team that could actually. I'm dying. We didn't have a, we didn't sniff an upset last year in the first round. Remember how gross it was? No.
B
Yeah.
A
They're a team that could shock somebody because that defense Smothers stifles somebody and they do just enough on offense. So I don't know. I, I'm excited about Texas Tech.
B
I. Here's the funniest thing about that, okay, Is that I don't know what they're, the update numbers are going to be. I feel exactly how you feel. That's how I feel when I watch them. They do just enough on offense. Do you know what they're averaging points per game. 43.6.
A
That is funny.
B
But McHE I see the same thing. Like when I'm watching Baron Morton, I'm like, this is an inconsistent offense and I'm watching Cameron Dickey and I'm like, he's a really good running back. But I'm not blown away. They're averaging 43 plus points and I know they didn't put that up today. I get that. I understand that. But that BYU defense, I have a lot of respect for, by the way.
A
Me too.
B
That's a tough, aggressive BYU defense. So I kind of, you know, I get that they didn't, but this is. They are. They put up points, man. But I get the same feeling when I'm watching. I'm not blown away by their offense and maybe that's, maybe I'm wrong about that. Maybe look at the playoffs and they'll show me that that offense is just as good as it against a higher level of competition as it has been against Big 12 competition. But I don't know. We'll see.
A
But today was a celebration truly of Lubbock. Texas Tech.
B
Holmes is there.
A
That stadium. What would the energy inside that stadium, what they're built. So let me get awesome for those people that like, they gave Texas Tech an edge and it was clear. And that's when we do our Home Depot break ins every Saturday night. I want to make sure we represent what Home Depot is all about, right? And you can create your own home home field advantage. B
All right. I've always wanted. I've always wanted an outdoor tv. I'm gonna have to get with the Home Depot folks, figure out how we can set that up.
A
No, they'll take care of it. They'll take care of. Yeah. The setup's the critical part. I almost just clicked out of our zoom. That would have been wild.
B
The. The absolute. The chat would have loved it. Because the absolute panic that would have come over me. Where'd he go? I'm gonna do that.
A
Not tonight. That would be too obvious.
B
Fun for everyone but me.
A
Oh, that would be great. You'd kill it. Okay, moving on. I did. Oh. Texas A and M. Missouri. This is a good one from Marcel Reed. Yeah. Not a great one. I'm saying to go. I care less about the special plays, the big moments, the big numbers. I care more about protecting the football efficiency. He was 20 of 29 for 211 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions. Didn't have to run the ball a ton. Didn't five for 29. And that's a damn good Missouri defense. They didn't have both. They have not been the same offensively. The young. The quarterback who stepped in, he's got a big time arm, but my gosh, he's got to learn to take a little heat off the fastball. It. I don't know. The Aggies have got to chill on the penalties. Read and read it.
B
Which is so weird for an Elko team, I would think.
A
I know.
B
I don't understand why is like he's such a.
A
It's like the last remnants of Jimbo Fisher and the other troubles they've had as a program. It's like the last. Just that they're trying to get that last because they play as a team, they're committed. They truly have a culture. They work. They're everything that Texas A and M wasn't for so long with all the money and all the support and all the things they do and the cult like environment and atmosphere. And it works for them.
B
Right?
A
But they never had these things that they have now, like good disciplined coaching where players bought in and believed and they prepared as hard as they played on Saturdays. And it was real. It never has felt. My entire existence, my entire existence in this industry. It's never felt real. Maybe Saturday night in College Station, maybe this, maybe some Johnny Manziel splashed with this. But it's never felt like a real grab, like from the ground up, building on firm foundation like it does now. But they're going to have to cut out the penalties. And Marcel, if he plays like this, maybe they don't get got like I keep saying. So that was, Those were positives. And I do want a couple things. Concepcion Craver, we've come to expect 10 catches, 143 and a touchdown combined. I do like this ABR guy. Even though he only had like 2 catches today, he keeps flashing flashes, man. Yeah, it's. It's Ashton Bethel Roman. I'm telling you, there's going to be a moment in this, in this season where conception, they've taken Conception away and they've taken Craver away and they need someone to step up. He seems like the guy who might not be your 8, 9 catch guy a game because we've got two cats on the outside that do this. But ABR's got something in him. And there's somebody else. I want to mention the best nickname in college football that I was. I only became aware tonight because I had to google him to see what year he was. Is he a freshman or a sophomore? He's actually a red shirt sophomore. Played a decent amount as a freshman. Red shirted last year. Played like two or three games. Limited. His production has increased over the course of the year. His name is Reuben Owens. And kind of with all the Conception magic and the Craver magic and the Marcel Reed and all these different things going on, people haven't realized that they're starting to develop this bell cow back. And his name is Reuben Owens. And again tonight he rushed for 102 yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns. He's a talent. He's in the last. Go back. Look at his numbers. The last month of the season, he's become a guy. Do you know what his nickname is?
B
What's that?
A
The Black Unicorn.
B
Oh my God. That's amazing.
A
It's amazing. How am I first to market with this?
B
Would you hear that on the broadcast night?
A
No, it's on the web.
B
I've never.
A
I told you I had to go. I, I just googled his name real quick because I'm writing down all these notes before we come on the show. And I'm. I was like, ruben, Owen. I'm trying to figure out. I know because I saw on one of the sites, he's like 511, 215. I'm like. But it didn't have their. What. What year they were. I'm like, give me a little background because. Because now I'm seeing the last few weeks, he's become a real thing. What?
B
Yeah. Because Leon Moss leave you on Moss.
A
No, I know, I know.
B
Yeah. So that's why he's getting more run. But he's taking advantage.
A
He's a sophomore. He's a sophomore. Right under says Reuben. Reuben Black. Black Unicorn Owens. And I was like, no way. So then I did.
B
I got to have this wrong, by the way.
A
Okay. Google it.
B
I'm looking at it now.
A
Hey, Aussie family. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going to Fox College on Saturday morning. I appreciate you asking. My buddy Pornoise there.
B
They.
A
They can do their thing.
B
Yep. The Black Unicorn. Isn't that amazing? Amazing.
A
I'm not going anywhere unless this show's going together and. And it's with the ringer and Simmons and everybody else. We're going to make a run here that is going to be legendary for the next 20 years. I'm just getting warmed up. Black Unicorn is my new favorite nickname.
B
That's crazy. I love it. Yeah, there's some great ones out there. The Godfather for Dante Corleone, the defensive lineman from Cincinnati. That's not as good as the Black Unicorn, though.
A
It's not. It had to be a high school thing. It's just not. It's just. It's perfect. All right, last game, Georgia, Mississippi State. And then we got to do the TMS top 12. Georgia, Mississippi State. Georgia blows the doors off. I don't have a ton I want to say on this game outside of. Yeah, I do like the trio that's developed as Zachariah Branch, Noah Thomas, and Oscar Dope.
B
And I know Thomas is kind of a dude, man.
A
He stepped up, and that's what I wanted to say. He's stepped up. And Zachariah Branch. Every time he catches the football, my heart, I get, like, afib. Like, I get like. Or like a little, you know. Mm. And then you get Noah, who's developing. It was Colby Young. How long's Colby Young out for?
B
I don't know. I don't know. I love him, too.
A
But then look it up right now. Yeah, yeah. Would you. Real quick. Nate Frazier. They've got a good tandem now at running back, but Nate Frazier needs to be this Nate Frazier. And it's easy to say and it's hard to replicate, but get him 12 to 15, but we need the explosives from him today. He was absolutely fire. Like just 12 for 181 and a touchdown. And we've gotten to the point and I didn't think this certainly coming into the year, man, but we've gotten to the point where it's like, yep, another day in the park. Gunner Stockton. Another day in the park. Yep. Here we go. 18 for 29, 264, three touchdowns, no interceptions. Yep.
B
Good day.
A
Nice job, kid. Right. You told me in August, you told me in July after seeing him at the manning camp, throw the football that this guy was. Had an average day going 264, three touchdowns, no picks. I'd be like, nah.
B
Really?
A
Yeah. Yeah. What?
B
Why is Kirby smart, such a great coach? Keeps his cool in crazy situations, obviously. Number one. Great recruiter, right?
A
Yeah.
B
Keeps his cool and crazy situations. There's so many things, really. But, like, I think what goes on the radar is how good he is at developing players and then at large developing teams. This Georgia team, you cannot tell me that this Georgia team is not way better than they were at the beginning of the year.
A
Oh, my gosh.
B
Way better than they are at the beginning of the year. Like, team, like, five weeks ago, I was like, I don't know, man.
A
You know when they beat.
B
Barely beat Tennessee and then they lost to Alabama, I was like, I don't know.
A
But I'm not going against Kirby. I made this mistake last year.
B
I'm not going against Kirby. And I'm glad I didn't because here we are. We're like, dude, this team is a legitimate championship contender. They are.
A
And I don't know if I really thought that.
B
At the beginning of the year, I was like, we're not buying into the Stockton thing. They don't have enough on defense. And I'm sitting here saying, dude, of course they are. Of course they're in a position to make another run.
A
Who is? We got a new king on the top of the castle in this chat. I'm not ignoring you much. I heard everything you're saying.
B
Can't be happy.
A
Kaden arc ar arquiter371 number one in. In chat today. I mean, yeah, ATB can't be happy about that. Jeremy Godden is hanging out number two. He's normally in the top three.
B
Yeah.
A
Male Kuiper I. I need to get to the bottom of this. This male Kuiper I love. That's my favorite Male Kuiper. M a L e k y P r Every once in a while, male Kuiper will just take a shot in There.
B
I love the ghost of Steve Adasio. I don't. It's just such a random but great name.
A
It is a great name. But I guess my whole. My big takeaway on this is Mississippi State's not a horrible team. Mississippi State's been a pretty good team and they've, they've, they've beat some decent teams and they've competed, they competed with. They make things uncomfortable for teams right when they don't win. And the cowbells were rocking and today was like, it could have been a little bit of a Hornet says. And even FanDuel was like, yeah, eight and a half. We're going to put eight and a half on this. We don't trust Georgia. Yeah. For all the reasons you shouldn't trust Georgia. So we're only going to make them an 8.8 and a half point spread because we don't know if they're going to give up 14 to start the game like they did at Tennessee or they're going to be trailing by, by 14, 17, 20 in the, in the fourth quarter and find a way to win miraculously. We just don't trust Georgia yet. I, I kind of was looking at this game saying, I don't trust them either, but man, I would. I, I just, I'm. I didn't always pull for the Kirby Smart team because they were winning and I'm not pulling for anyone, but you know what I mean? Like some years I'm like, right, kind of what.
B
I get it.
A
Go make a run. Right. And. And so like they reached the pinnacle and yet all the draft picks and all this stuff and this year and even last year. But last year they were unlikable because of their quarterback. This year likable in part because of their quarterback. He's just one of them. He's the worst interview in the history of quarterback interviews. And we've had so many bad, bad ones. Have you watched Gunner Stockton give an interview after. Yes. Yes. It's almost like someone, some guys at the frat like, made a bet with him. How bad can you. Like how bad? Not bad, but like, how. Just uninteresting. I didn't love that.
B
He's just one of the guys, though. He really is. That's what I'm one of the guys.
A
And that's why they're like, perfect way of saying it. Take your Lamborghinis and, and all the stuff and go down to South Florida and that's a better fit. This guy's a better fit for here. And I'm Watching Kirby without all that talent. And they've got some talent and the count. Like K.J. bolden's going to be a draft pick. He's not a perfect prospect at safety, but he's a damn good football player. And he had 14 tackles today. Mitch. And C.J. allen's just a stud. And another like eight tackles today in a sack. This Raylan Wilson guy, I'm starting to notice a little bit more. He had a second half today and 10 tackles. They're getting him involved a little bit more aggressive, ramping it up. But anyway, I wanted to see. Before I could be like, yeah, Georgia's. Georgia might. I wanted to see a game like this where they came out and I don't have the step. It was like in the second quarter and they. They're like, we. We needed eight weeks or whatever it was to kind of put things together. But now, like you. Now we're coming into town.
B
Yeah. This is what happens when we flex cowbells that can do that.
A
Cowbells are cute. But this is in Georgia in September. You're getting a different animal. And I love. Because. Because that's coaching. That's program.
B
Yeah. It's unbelievable.
A
All right. We've been going a long time.
B
He's such a good coach.
A
I've gotten in trouble five ways to Tuesday. Male Kuipers shooting off things at me. And. And. And I've. I was worried that Cole Marie was going to be upset, but she's here for the shenanigans.
B
Oh, Cole Marie. If we could get Edo back to lsu. I mean, I don't. It's not the right move for anyone.
A
Of course not. Does anyone know what happened while he left there? But no one cares because it would be awesome.
B
I'm here for that.
A
All right. Cfp. The rankings. The rankings come back out the second time around. Everyone cares the first time. No one really seems to care the next handful of times until it's right before the championship game when it becomes the most important one, because it really basically gives you the answers to the test. And if it didn't give you the answers of the test, we got a whole lot to about on selection Sunday. Right. Or whatever. They have to brand it so to not interfere with. With college hoops and their branding. The TMS top 12, though. That's how we brand it. And it's the. It's the best rankings out there, unfortunately.
B
It's gonna be an easy week for us.
A
Let's just take. Let's just take this time, though, when it wasn't easy last week going in and say we absolutely nailed it.
B
It.
A
And, and, and not because the College Football Committee got it right, but because the College Football Committee may have made enough little tweaks that they're starting to see it the same way. And we were hopeful, given some of the changes in March and the different seating, that this would be a better, more refined version of the 12, the 12 team playoff. And it's looking like if the first polls or rankings release from the CFP committee is indicative of what we're going to get from here on out. I have more faith in the system than I have in my entire lifetime.
B
Agree.
A
My entire lifetime. Okay. That's awesome. Yep. So with that said, you got seven. Seven of the top 12. No. Except nine of the top 10. Right. All one. They were.
B
Yeah.
A
And two. And the teams 11 and 12 on a buy.
B
Right.
A
Massive game for Oklahoma and Alabama next week. And who. Texas has got a big game next week. Right. We got a huge week next week. I believe. Whatever.
B
Texas.
A
I do want to say this. Just keep this sneaky little eye on USC at 7 and 3 still. I'm not saying they're getting in.
B
I know.
A
I have been saying for a long time, there's something I just. They were. They were at 19. Okay. And in the meantime, the ACC continues to absolutely implode. It's becoming a laughing stock. And it's sad because it is. I love a lot of people in that conference and I love a lot of programs in that conference. And I didn't want Virginia to lose. Aunt Lisa. Man the woods, my cousins. I know, my aunt, my Uncle Craig.
B
He was coming, though.
A
I mean, tight family, but it's coming. It was coming. And Louisville. You know, the appreciation of love I have for Brahms. I've always had a special place for Miller Moss, even though he hasn't become what I thought he might be. But still. But you look at those two programs losing and usc sitting at 19 and there's just like. I don't know, just keep an outside look. That's one. One little. Oh, by the way, still gotta play. Remember the notes? Who?
B
Iowa and Oregon. They still have. USC does.
A
Which you see is concerning. I see his opportunity.
B
No, I don't see it's concerning. I see that as opportunity.
A
Okay. All right. Yeah. I wasn't sure.
B
No, no.
A
But yeah, there's just an outside looking in. What's. And I. Side note. Remember the makai lemon stuff I was telling you about the scouts talking the other day? And this. This wide receiver won Things a little bit more up for grabs than you think. And some like Carnell Tate and some like Jordan Tyson, but there's more people that might like Makai Lemon than people thought he went. And I know it's northwest, but 11 for 161 and 2, he's just. He's stacking weeks of tape. But there's only one move that really is going to be made here, and it's BYU is going to be knocked out of the top 12. And now it fits. Well, there will be obviously that 12 seed, but if we're talking about the top 12 teams and that in the 12th seed will be Memphis. Right? Assuming no Memphis lost today. Oh, my.
B
Oh, yeah. That's. I have no idea what's happening there. That's why I just moved my hat, because I was like, he's gonna ask me who the at large is, and I have zero idea.
A
No, I love it. Well, let's do this. First of all, not the. The. This. The group of five at large is not going to be in the top 12. So let's get our top 12 figured out before we get back to that.
B
They're not even in the top 25. There's no one in the top 25.
A
No. I know. You got to go to the other. Like the others receiving. It's no North Texas, right?
B
It might be North Texas. They have a shot.
A
Who's. There's. Here we go. No, but my point is this. Sorry, this is. This is one in the morning. BYU will be knocked out. Everyone moves up. So at the end of the day, it's gonna be Ohio State 1, Indiana 2A&M 3, Alabama 4, Georgia 5, Ole Miss 6. As it was last week, as we predicted and as we thought it should be. Not predicted. I don't care. I'm just telling you those are the best six teams and the most deserved six teams in that order. You agreed. It's our TMS consensus top 12. The TMS top 12 that we do every Saturday night. And it's exactly what the committee came up with. So it gave us some confidence. And then the next seven teams were not in the order we put them, but we didn't have a huge problem with the order they put them in. And it were. It also was the. Or the other six teams, right. From seven to 12, I should say they were all the same teams. Well, now they get. BYU gets knocked out. Texas Tech moves up to seven behind Ole Miss. Oregon moves up to eight. I would presume Tough win. Not beautiful injuries. They're Moving up one spot. So it's 7, Texas Tech, Oregon 8, 8, Notre Dame 9, Texas 10, Oklahoma 11. And then I gotta believe at 13 was Utah. I mean, I wrote the other like they're hunting. I'm going Vanderbilt 12 after going to overtime against Auburn. I. Who.
B
That's a talented Auburn team with the. Getting the bounce. Getting the bounce after the coach got.
A
Got.
B
Got fired. You kidding me? Who's winning, Vanderbilt or Utah?
A
JMU is the team I was thinking of.
B
Jmu. Yep.
A
You're right.
B
Jmu's in the mix. They are in the mix.
A
Jmu. I've been. I've been kind of. I've been a fan. I mean, obviously we have. We have a lot of history. It was a. It was one of the rivals at Richmond and we know like all the history. And then obviously Signetti's there, but Bob Chesney, also another local guy from Holy Cross and coach in this area. Chesney's one of the hot names in college football. I told you this a few weeks ago when we were talking about coaching, and I don't know that any one of the big, bigger programs would have the. The onions to do it, but he's.
B
A name to keep an eye on.
A
But he's named to keep because he's going to get this next bridge job and then from the bridge job, it's going to be a master massive job. Is. Is. My guess is that's how his arc is going. So I'm just saying keep an eye out. You know, there's different polls and, and like there was North Texas. JMU are the 2 in South Florida. So we'll see how it all plays out. But that's it, right?
B
Yeah. Except for Annabelle.
A
I say it's going to be Utah. So we. But we have to have a TMS and it's going to get posted tomorrow on the McShay report. And this is the one thing that we do that's consensus. And so you're going to try to fight me on Vanderbilt.
B
I love Utah. I loved Utah coming into the year. I do love that offensive line. We'll go Utah. But I think that's an interesting argument to make and it's tough on the committee to put. If you put Vanderbilt there, you would now have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 SEC teams in the top 12. 7. That celebration is getting out of control. I kind of like it, though, to.
A
Be honest with you. Well, the thing is, I was doing it in September for you, and you were looking at me like I had Five heads. I did it to Rosillo back in, like, the first week of September.
B
I. I bet. Talking about trade, that's.
A
He had no idea. That's my point. But I know this. When game day starts to bring something that's so like the. The. The kids are doing, it means it's time to walk away. It's tapped.
B
Yeah, yeah, I promise. That's right. It's right.
A
I promise you.
B
And so no offense to them, but.
A
Yeah, yeah, but I mean, and when Mark. But I. But I will say Mark Granovsky, when he scored that touchdown to go up.
B
Yeah.
A
16, 15, 17, 16, whatever it was. And that. And you could hear the I. Six, seven. And I was like, college kids are still doing it.
B
Yep, still.
A
And my. My son and Mia and Tate were like, run it back. He didn't say that. And they got up, right? Oh, he did. He did. Six, seven. All right. It couldn't be older right now. Well, it's the long one. I didn't expect it to be. But. But, like, honestly, for you and me, Mensch, we were solid. We were fun. We do what we do.
B
But hold on, hold on. I don't. We don't. We have no idea why. Tucker just asked us what. But the chat is asking that we go to. To one o'.
A
Clock.
B
That we have to get to the extra minute. We don't want to cut him out. Is this some kind of weird thing? But we'll definitely.
A
You guys want to count us down? How many seconds left? I'll go. Give us one more nugget. Mensch. Give me something. Give me one player. Give me anything so we can have real good content. The Evansville basketball game, Patriot League they're talking about. It's come off the rail.
B
Mountain Union always trade back. Get me. Give me that. Mountain Union information. Always trade back. Apparently Mount Union, the Division 3 Mount Union, has won 32. If you're in there, always trade back. Give me the numbers. Because it was like 32 straight conference titles or something like that. That. And they have a freshman quarterback who looks like he's going to be, if not this year, a future Division 3, like, Heisman winner, whatever that's called. It's a. It's a weird name for it, but he was hitting me up on Tucker for the win.
A
Tucker's now the new fan favorite. Tuck for the win. 1:00am, baby. There you go. Bonus XP 1000 XP 5 stars. I love it. All right.
B
We did it.
A
Mountain Union is dominant. Brandon Self, K3K. That's all we got. Division three. Yeah, we know, we know.
B
There's some love, man.
A
Thanks, Tucker, says Goden. All right. We appreciate you. Not only did we make it to 1am we just made it to 101, and maybe we'll do it again next Saturday night. But I can tell you this, because of all of you on this chat, that it's another 5 stars must be 21 plus and present in select states for Kansas in affiliation with Kansas Star Casino, or 18 + and present in D.C. kentucky or Wyoming.
