Let's go Democrats. Who's going to lead? Who's going to take charge? We See some Democrats going on the offense and pointing out that Donald Trump and his cabinet of oligarchs who are worth over $500 billion combined plan to pickpocket the American people and exploit we the people to further enrich their oligarchy. Here is Austin based Congressmember Greg Kassar, Democrat. Here's what he has to say. Watch this powerful message.
Progressive Caucus Member
The GOP campaigned and won on a propaganda fueled lie to the American people. They said over and over and over again that it was immigrants or people of color or trans people or whoever that were to blame for our economic problems. It wasn't a trans person who denied your health insurance claim. It was a giant health insurance company that has gone unregulated by the Republican majority. It was not an asylum seeker that raised your rent. It was a Wall street hedge fund that did. Just like the Wall street hedge fund's CEOs that Trump is trying to fill his Cabinet up with. The truth is the GOP doesn't give a damn about working people. They just pretend to. They distract us with bigoted culture war propaganda while they pick the pockets of hard working Americans. Our party has a tough road ahead and I want to make it clear. The members of the Progressive Caucus are those who are best prepared to reform the Democratic Party. It is Progressive Caucus members who know how to stand up to CEOs who make more and more money while they pay their workers less and less. It is Progressive Caucus members who have the experience of standing up to special interest groups who spend millions of dollars to influence our elections. It is Progressive Caucus members who know how to stand for peace. It is Progressive Caucus members who stand up to bullies and fraudsters and the cheats who try to scapegoat our communities. Trump's entire campaign was built on nothing but lies. And it is Progressive Caucus members who are unbought and unbossed truth tellers.

Look, that's the type of messaging that's needed right now. I mean, just take a look at this new Echelon Insights poll. Among Democrats, Democrats should lean harder into economic populism like breaking up big corporations and preventing workers from being exploited. 70% of Democrats are saying they should do that. Frankly, it's consistent with President Biden's middle up, bottom out economy. Let me show you this as well. This is Democratic Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut. Here's what he's got to say. Play the clip.
Democratic Senator
What does this tell you about the.
Political Commentator
Government that is emerging in next January?
Democratic Senator
I think we talk a lot about the coming dictatorship, but I think what's really coming is what you would call an oligarchy. That's a term you probably forgot from high school. But what it means is that a handful of really rich people run the government and they steal from ordinary people using their access to government in order to make themselves and their families even richer. That is likely what we are heading for in the United States of America. I don't think it's a coincidence that Trump's Cabinet is filled with billionaires. There's more wealth on that cabinet than 169 different nations.
Political Commentator
And then Senate Senator Murphy, Democrat from Connecticut, raises this point as well, that Donald Trump's administration is compromised. Right. They've taken all this money from the Middle East. You have Jared Kushner, who got like $3 billion from the Saudis, UAE, Qatar and others, making him millions of dollars in fees every year. You've got the Trump family having their name plastered on buildings in Saudi Arabia and they're bragging about it. You've got Eric Trump bragging about his buildings that are paid for by Saudi Arabia. Not his buildings, the Saudi buildings. They put the Trump name on it. Give the Trump family tens of millions or hundreds of millions of dollars. Why? To buy them off. Look, mbs, the leader of Saudi Arabia, previously said that Jared Kushner is in his pocket. Here's what Senator Murphy had to say. Let's play it.
Democratic Senator
After Trump left office, his son in law, Jared Kushner, went and did a massive with Saudi Arabia in which Saudi Arabia promised billions of dollars to invest in Kushner and his properties, properties that the Trump family benefits from. There is no doubt that this administration's policy towards the Middle east is going to be compromised by the fact that they are making money off of the very people that they're sitting across the table from and supposedly having a conversation about the interests of the United States. I mean, it's just extraordinary that we have allowed for the normalization of Trump's empire to be woven into the statecraft of this country. All that matters is how much money he makes, how much money his family makes, and it comes at a cost to the rest of us. We'll make, we'll see, really bad policy made in the Middle east because he's got unqualified people there. But more so, he's going to put his wealth and his family's wealth first, the national security of the country second.
Political Commentator
And look, these are the messages that need to get out. You put those messages in contrast with Indiana Senator elect Jim Banks right here, who says we need to reevaluate vaccines in general. This is a senator spreading vaccine disinfo with RFK Jr. On things like polio and measles that could result in the deaths of tens of millions and especially children.
Political Analyst
Play this clip RFK is a obviously a unique and diverse choice. A longtime lifelong Democrat, one of one of the major figures in the Kennedy family. Obviously he has a lot of views that Donald Trump appreciates and supports. But at the end of the day, Donald Trump is the President and the White House and RFK is going to work for him. And whether it's putting American agriculture first or putting our kids first, this country is ready for a big debate about vaccines and a lot of these issues related to making America healthy again. I support RFK 110% to be the new secretary because I think he brings a lot to the job. That's unique. He's going to shake up these departments. But Donald Trump's in charge. He's going to be. He's the guy in the White House that's going to be in charge and RFK is going to report to him. So I have a lot of confidence and comfort in him being the new secretary because I know who's in charge at the end of the day.
Political Commentator
As Shannon Watts puts it, is America trying to find new and creative ways to kill children besides gun violence? Well, not Americans. Republicans are count on the Republicans to do that. Watch how he treats these students with utter disrespect. Play this clip.
Senator Tom Tillis
Ask me a question to tell me who you are and where you're from. Great. So why do you think there's a nexus between that and the question you're asking? Is that a. Is that a sincere. I see your friend video in here. Is that a sincere you? You look sincere.

Senator Tom Tillis

Can you just answer her question?
Senator Tom Tillis
I haven't heard the question. Can you turn off that phone?
Political Commentator
She's asking you a question.
Senator Tom Tillis
See, here's the problem. I went from a sympathetic person here to a guy who said, you must answer the question on the phone. So you won't answer the question. How about you do this for me? If you give me your identifying information and then I can look at your activities on social media, I promise you I'll answer a very simple question. You're not going to shut me down. I'm asking you if you represent working class people or corporations because you're making millions on somebody who will take your bank.
Live Nation Advertiser
Yes or no?
Senator Tom Tillis
Why do you refuse?
Political Commentator
And meanwhile, what's Donald Trump doing? Well, he's posting images of people who tattoo Trump's name on their arms. Can you say cult? Donald Trump is also saying mystery drone sightings all over the country. Can this really be happening without our government knowledge? I don. Think so. Exclamation point. Let the public know and now, otherwise shoot them down. DJ T was going to start shooting in the air. Is that the game plan? Or how about Donald Trump saying this? The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Savings Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn't. Daylight Savings Time is inconvenient and very costly to our nation, as Aaron Rupert said. Did Standard Time donate a million bucks to Trump's inauguration? Or what's going on here? You want to. You want to keep Standard Time where it gets darker earlier? Anyway, I digress. What Trump wants to keep, though, and what Congress member Kazar and Senator Murphy are pointing out, which we've been talking about here at the Midas Touch Network all along, though, is this message of Donald Trump literally lives in a golden palace in a golden country club with golden toilet bowls. I mean, look how soft this guy is. I mean, just this is what he was doing when people were fighting for Vietnam. And fighting in Vietnam, he claimed that he had bone spurs. Just look at him on that bed right there. He's got golden toilet bowls. While Elon Musk and other MAGA billionaires in Trump's cabinet talk about taking away vaccines and taking away your healthcare, getting rid of your Social Security, getting rid of veteran benefits, getting rid of Medicare, making sure that people are suffering. It's a real issue. But Democrats keep going on the offense. Sharp, strong, loud messaging on the economy. Please hit subscribe let's get to 4 million subscribers. Thanks for watching. The MeidasTouch Podcast: "Dems Finally go ATTACK MODE on Republicans IN PUBLIC" - December 15, 2024
In this compelling episode of The MeidasTouch Podcast, hosts Ben, Brett, and Jordy Meiselas delve deep into the evolving dynamics of American politics, focusing on the Democrats' strategic shift to a more aggressive stance against Republicans. Combining sharp analysis with their trademark brotherly banter, the episode offers listeners an insightful exploration of current political strategies, key player dynamics, and the broader implications for American democracy.
Timestamp: [02:23] The episode opens with the hosts highlighting a significant shift within the Democratic Party. No longer content with a defensive posture, Democrats are now taking the offensive against Republican figures, particularly targeting former President Donald Trump and his associates.
Political Commentator: "Let's go Democrats. Who's going to lead? Who's going to take charge? We see some Democrats going on the offense and pointing out that Donald Trump and his cabinet of oligarchs who are worth over $500 billion combined plan to pickpocket the American people and exploit we the people to further enrich their oligarchy." ([02:23])
This new strategy aims to expose and counteract what Democrats perceive as the Republicans' attempts to consolidate wealth and power at the expense of the average American.
Timestamp: [02:23] The podcast features a segment with Austin-based Congressmember Greg Kassar, a prominent Democrat, who delivers a passionate message against the current Republican leadership.
Progressive Caucus Member: "The GOP campaigned and won on a propaganda fueled lie to the American people. They said over and over again that it was immigrants or people of color or trans people or whoever that were to blame for our economic problems. It wasn't a trans person who denied your health insurance claim. It was a giant health insurance company that has gone unregulated by the Republican majority..." ([02:56])
Kassar criticizes the GOP for diverting blame for economic issues onto marginalized groups while simultaneously enriching themselves through unregulated industries and corporate favoritism.
Timestamp: [04:24] The discussion shifts to Democratic strategies grounded in economic populism. Citing an Echelon Insights poll, the hosts emphasize the party's focus on policies aimed at breaking up large corporations and preventing worker exploitation.
Political Commentator: "Among Democrats, Democrats should lean harder into economic populism like breaking up big corporations and preventing workers from being exploited. 70% of Democrats are saying they should do that. Frankly, it's consistent with President Biden's middle up, bottom out economy." ([04:24])
This approach aligns with President Biden's economic policies, which aim to support the middle and lower economic classes by targeting systemic issues within major corporations and advocating for fair labor practices.
Timestamp: [05:00] Democratic Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut delivers a stark warning about the rise of an oligarchic system in the United States, where a select few wealthy individuals wield disproportionate influence over government policies.
Democratic Senator Chris Murphy: "I think we talk a lot about the coming dictatorship, but I think what's really coming is what you would call an oligarchy. That's a term you probably forgot from high school. But what it means is that a handful of really rich people run the government and they steal from ordinary people using their access to government in order to make themselves and their families even richer." ([05:09] - [05:52])
Murphy underscores the dangers of having government officials and cabinet members whose personal fortunes and interests are deeply intertwined with corporate and foreign entities, leading to policies that favor the elite over the populace.
Timestamp: [05:52] The hosts critique Republican figures, particularly focusing on Senator Tom Tillis of North Carolina. They highlight instances where Tillis exhibited disrespectful behavior towards student interviewers, symbolizing a broader trend of Republicans dismissing legitimate inquiries.
Political Commentator: "A group of students were trying to interview Senator Tom Tillis of North Carolina... Watch how he treats these students with utter disrespect." ([11:19] - [12:08])
Furthermore, the discussion touches upon the perceived corruption within Trump's administration, highlighting financial ties and influence peddling:
Democratic Senator Chris Murphy: "After Trump left office, his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, went and did a massive deal with Saudi Arabia in which Saudi Arabia promised billions of dollars to invest in Kushner and his properties... There is no doubt that this administration's policy towards the Middle East is going to be compromised..." ([06:46] - [07:46])
The hosts argue that such financial entanglements undermine national security and prioritize personal wealth over the country's interests.
Timestamp: [07:46] The podcast also addresses the spread of misinformation by Republican figures, specifically in the realm of public health.
Political Commentator: "Indiana Senator elect Jim Banks right here, who says we need to reevaluate vaccines in general. This is a senator spreading vaccine disinfo with RFK Jr. on things like polio and measles that could result in the deaths of tens of millions and especially children." ([07:46])
The hosts express concern over the potential public health crisis arising from such disinformation, emphasizing the critical need for accurate information dissemination.
Timestamp: [08:13] Political Analyst discusses Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s role and influence within the Republican Party, suggesting his alignment with Donald Trump's agenda despite his Democratic roots.
Political Analyst: "RFK is going to work for him [Trump]. And whether it's putting American agriculture first or putting our kids first... I have a lot of confidence and comfort in him being the new secretary because I know who's in charge at the end of the day." ([08:13])
This highlights the complex alliances and ideological overlaps that can blur traditional party lines, potentially undermining Democratic efforts.
Timestamp: [09:11] The hosts critique the lavish lifestyles and policy positions of Republican leaders, juxtaposing them against the needs of ordinary Americans.
Political Commentator: "Donald Trump literally lives in a golden palace in a golden country club with golden toilet bowls... While Elon Musk and other MAGA billionaires in Trump's cabinet talk about taking away vaccines and taking away your healthcare, getting rid of Social Security..." ([09:11])
This portrayal serves to underscore perceived hypocrisy and misplaced priorities within the Republican leadership, reinforcing the Democrats' critique of their opponents' governance.
Timestamp: [12:56] In the closing segments, the hosts emphasize the importance of Democrats maintaining a strong, unified message focused on economic reform and protecting social services.
Political Commentator: "But Democrats keep going on the offense. Sharp, strong, loud messaging on the economy." ([12:56])
They call for continued support and engagement from listeners to bolster the Democratic message and counteract Republican narratives effectively.
Throughout this episode, The MeidasTouch Podcast provides a thorough analysis of the current political climate, highlighting the Democrats' strategic pivot to a more aggressive stance against Republicans. By featuring voices like Congressmember Greg Kassar and Senator Chris Murphy, the podcast underscores the urgency and importance of addressing issues related to economic populism, governmental corruption, and public misinformation.
